The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving at 60 MPH, The contact heard a bell noise ringing from the vehicle. The contact the vehicle was running hot so the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and open the hood and check coolant and waited a few minutes for the vehicle to cool down before restarting the vehicle and driving to their residence. The contact took the vehicle to a independent mechanic shop where they inspected the vehicle and diagnosed the failure the clips connected the fan was burnt so they replaced the part, however the failure persisted. The mechanic has replaced the thermostat the heat sensor and change out anti freeze and put a new fan motor. to fix the failure, but the failure still persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 177,003.
THE CAR KEEP OVERHEATING WHEN I'M DRIVING AND AT A STAND STILL THE FAN KEEP COMING ON AND THE MECHANIC CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. *TR
PURCHASED THE CAR USED WITH 115K MILES. THE FIRST SIGN OF AN ISSUE WAS THE SOUND OF WATER RUSHING TO THE HEATER CORE (AIR). CAR STARTED OVERHEATING A FEW WEEKS LATER AS THE OUTDOORS TEMPERATURE STARTED TO CLIMB IN LATE SPRING. I STARTED TO SEE WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE TAIL PIPE AND WAS HAVING TO ADD COOLANT EVERY OTHER DAY. THE ISSUE STARTED TO GET WORSE SO I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED A HEAD GASKET FAILURE. THE ISSUE HAPPENS MORE FREQUENTLY ON HILLS, DURING HOT WEATHER AND WHILE STOPPED AT LIGHTS OR IN TRAFFIC. I TRIED TO USE A HEAD GASKET SEALANT WHICH WORKED FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND THEN THE CAR BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AGAIN. I CHECKED OUT SEVERAL FORUMS AND FIND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE IN THIS VEHICLE DUE TO A POOR CHOSE OF HEAD GASKET WITH SOME ANTIFREEZE/COOLANT TYPES. HEAD GASKET REPLACEMENT IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY A RECALL. THE RADIATOR HOSES ARE OVER PRESSURIZING AND WILL CAUSE RUPTURES WHICH WILL END UP BURNING SOMEONE SEVERELY.
GASOLINE LEAK/FIRE HAZARD, CHARACTERISTIC OF THE 2012 RECALL OF EXACT MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR FOR SPECIFIC VEHICLES SOLD OR REGISTERED IN CERTAIN STATES. MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING SAME EXACT ISSUE AS PRECIOUS RECALL WITH GASOLINE ODOR/LEAK.

VEHICLE HEATS UP AND CAUSES WATER HOSES TO OVER HEAT AND BUST UP. THIS CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS BURN INJURY. APPARENTLY THIS IS A PROBLEM CAUSES BECAUSE OF THE HEAD GASKETS THAT WERE USED.THE GASKETS GET DAMAGED AND START CAUSING THE LINES TO FILL UP WITH AIR CAUSING ALOT OF PRESSURE TO.MOTOR AND THEN OVER HEATS.ALL THE LINES THAT BRING WATER TO THE MOTER BUSTED AND VEHICLE WASNT EVEN SHOWING TO BE HOT. VEHICLE STILL WORKS BUT CANT BE USED BECAUSE IT OVERHEATS. LINES WERE REPLACED TWICE BUT WILL BUST IF TRUCK IS TURNED ON . THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAULTY SPARK PLUG WIRES. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE SPARK PLUGS TO FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME AND ENGINE OVERHEATED, ALMOST DIDN'T GET OFF ROAD. TOOK TO A GARAGE AND $433. LATER WITH TOW BILL, THEY REPLACED THERMOSTAT AND FLUSHED IT. ONE WEEK LATER DID THE SAME THING PLUS KEPT POPPING UP OIL CHANGE NEEDED AND HAD ALREADY DID THAT FEW MONTHS BEFORE. FILLED WITH GAS AND IT POPPED UP LOW FUEL. HAD IT LOOKED AT AGAIN AND THEY SAID HEAD GASKET, WHICH QUOTED $2500. BUT SEVERAL HAVE TOLD ME THEY HAD WORKED ON SEVERAL WITH SAME PROBLEM, SAID EQUINOX ARE KNOWN FOR THIS! WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM? I AM ON SS AND THIS IS HARD FOR ME TO HANDLE MONEY WISE. MY 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX IS GIVING ME PROBLEMS WHEN I AM GOING UP A HILL. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FUEL PUMP LEAK RECALL. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER DISCOVERING THE FUEL PUMP WAS RECALLED, SHE CALLED GMC, BUT WAS INFORMED HER VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE RESPONSE, AS THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED ON AUGUST 23, 2012 FOR A SERIOUS FUEL LEAK. EARLIER IN THE YEAR, THE EVAP PURGE VALVE/EMISSION SYSTEM AND FUEL CAP WERE REPLACED. *JB THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM, WHICH STATED HER VEHICLE IS NOW INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. UPDATED 02/13/13
I HAVE HAD MY EQUINOX SINCE 2008; IT IS A 2007 MODEL. I HAVE HAD CONTINUAL REPAIRS ON THE ELECTRICAL REAR LIGHTS AND THE BELT TENSIONER, BUT THIS NEXT REPAIR IS BY FAR THE WORST. WHEN THE CAR WAS IN PARK POSITION THE ODOR OF GASOLINE WAS STRONG AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE CAR. WHEN DRIVING, THE SMELL OF GAS CIRCULATED INTO THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM PENETRATING THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. THE SMELL WAS STRONGEST ON THE OUTER SIDE BY THE GAS TANK. I TOOK THE CAR TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND FOUND A LEAK ABOVE THE GAS TANK. FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED THE FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING GASOLINE, ABOUT SIX INCHES FROM THE MUFFLER. THIS DEFECT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY OR FATALITIES AS I REGULARLY CARRY CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT. THIS CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND IT SEEMS TO REQUIRE TOO MANY REPAIRS FOR THE FEW YEARS/MILES IT HAS TRAVELED. AS A THOUGHTFUL VEHICLE OWNER, I TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO PRESERVE THE LIFE OF MY VEHICLE THROUGH REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND COVERED STORAGE FROM NATURAL ELEMENTS. WE WERE TRAVELING 3-28-2013 AND WERE ABOUT A HUNDRED MILES FROM OUR DESTINATION WHEN THE SERVICE STABILITRAC, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LESS THAN A YEAR PRIOR TO THIS ON 4-19-2012 WE HAD A SIMILAR INCIDENT, WHICH HAPPENED TO BE THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE. WE MADE IT HOME 4-2-2013 AND TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND FOUND OUT THE EGR VALVE NEED REPLACING. I REPLACE THE EGR VALVE AND CLEARED THE CODES. ALL WAS WELL TILL 4-7-2013 WHEN THE SERVICE STABILITRAC AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN. I HAVE NOT HAD A CHANCE TO LOOK INTO THIS. *TR
