I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO CHEVROLET MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE IT CUTS OUT WHEN IDLING AND SOMETIMES DRIVING. THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM TOLD ME AROUND 40000 MILES THAT SOMETIMES 'YOU JUST GET A BAD APPLE.' THEY REPLACED MY MOTOR UNDER WARRANTY ABOUT 20,000 MILES AGO WITH A BRAND NEW MOTOR AND NOW MY CAR IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING. I CONTACTED CUSTOMER CARE AT CHEVROLET AND THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE CLOSEST DEALER TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC TEST RUN AT MY EXPENSE BECAUSE MY WARRANTY IS OUT... MIND YOU I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THE SAME ISSUE SINCE I BOUGHT MY CAR... AND WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T SERVICE MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE THE WARRANTY WORK DONE AT THAT LOCATION. I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE WE'VE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED MULTIPLE TIMES AND I HAVE VERY SMALL CHILDREN. I CAN'T DRIVE ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT REPLACED IT WHEN I AM THE ONE PAYING FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC EXAM ANYWAY....SO I KEEP GETTING CONFLICTING RESPONSES FROM CHEVY AND THEIR DEALERSHIPS. I HAVE GOTTEN THE RUN AROUND SINCE I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT. I JUST ALMOST HAVE IT PAID OFF AND CAN'T AFFORD FOR THEM TO KEEP SCREWING ME AROUND, NOR CAN I AFFORD A NEW CAR. MY CAR LOSES THE ENGINE BUT ALL BATTERY FUNCTIONS WORK. IT HAPPENS WHILE IDLING, DRIVING SLOWLY AND EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY! IT'S SO DANGEROUS AND MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE SAME CAR IF RESEARCHED ONLINE.
THIS CAR HAS HAD DOCUMENTED EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES SINCE I BOUGHT IT USED IN 2015. CHEVROLET WILL NOT MAKE RIGHT. SO FAR I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN AND MAIN SEAL TWICE DUE TO MASSIVE OIL LEAKAGE AND LOSS. MOST RECENTLY ENGINE SEIZED UP WHILE I WAS GOING 70 MPH AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. EVEN THOUGH OIL HAD BEEN CHANGED 1500 MILES PREVIOUSLY, IT WAS BONE DRY AND MAIN SEAL BLEW OUT FOR THE SECOND TIME. GM SAYS IT "COSTS TOO MUCH" TO REPLACE FAULTY PISTON RINGS WHICH ARE THE SOURCE OF SEVERAL SERVICE BULLETINS AND RECALLS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CAR AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED DRIVING THESE THINGS!! THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THE ENGINE HAS SEIZED UP ON ME IN TRAFFIC. CAR ONLY HAS 132K MILES, PROBLEMS STARTED AT AROUND 45K MILES.
REAR MAIN CRANKSHAFT SEAL FAILURE. VIN NOT COVERED BY SB - 10057977 - 8108 SPECIAL COVERAGE BULLETIN NO. 14882. SEAL FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING. ENGINE ALSO EXHIBITS EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION SINCE NEW. CURRENT MILEAGE 120,000
MY VEHICLE DISPLAYED THE ISSUE COVERED UNDER GM SERVICE BULLETIN - SPECIAL COVERAGE 14882 SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT ' PLUGGED PCV ORIFICE IN INTAKE MANIFOLD. MY VEHICLE MATCHES THE CRITERIA INDICATED ON THE BULLETIN BUT MY SPECIFIC VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SERVICE BULLETIN. MY VEHICLE WAS INSIDE THE EXTENDED COVERAGE OF 10/120 INDICATED IN THE BULLETIN. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THE DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE WAS CAUSED BY THIS DEFECT BUT THAT THE COVERAGE DID NOT APPLY TO MY SPECIFIC VIN. VEHICLE WAS STARTED AFTER WORK AND WAS LOUDER THAN NORMAL SO I PROCEEDED TO THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE WAS LUCKILY ON A CITY STREET IN MOTION WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DISPLAYED. AS I WAS INSIGHT OF THE DEALERSHIP I PULLED INTO THE LOT AND THE OIL PRESSURE AND STOP ENGINE LIGHTS DISPLAYED THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AND POWER WAS LOST TO THE VEHICLE AT THE SERVICE BAY DOOR. CAR WAS BROUGHT INTO SERVICE IMMEDIATELY. DAMAGE TO VEHICLE IN EXCESS OF $2600.
MY CAR ENGINE SEIZED UP DUE TO AN OIL LEAK FROM THE REAR OF THE ENGINE DUE TO SEVERE COLD TEMPERATURES BELOW ZERO DEGREES (-18 DEGREES C). AS I WAS DRIVING THE CAR STARTED MAKING NOISE AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP WITH ALL OF MY OIL RELEASED FROM IT. THE CAR WAS MOVING AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.
A SEAL LEAK ON THE TVC VALVE LEAKS OIL BIG TIME LEAKING ENGINE OIL. I KNOW OF ONE OTHER VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. GM HAS SENT OUT NOTICES TO DEALERSHIPS ETC.. ABOUT THIS. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF SOMEBODY WAS ON THE ROAD AND THIS HAPPENED.
OUR DAUGHTER AND I WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY DOING 55 IN A 65 MPH ZONE WHEN ALL OFF A SUDDEN THE CARS STABILIZING TEAK AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WE ALSO LOST INSTANT POWER AND HAD TO TRY AND GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OFF THE HIGHWAY TO AVOID GETTING HIT. IT WAS A HIGH OF 25 THAT DAY AND I HAVE MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SO WE HAD TO SIT AND WAIT IN THE COLD CAR UNTIL WE COULD GET SOME HELP. WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED AND HAVE BEEN TOLD IT WILL PROBABLY COST A MINIMUM OF $4800 AND COULD BE AS MUCH OVER $10,000. WITH MY MEDICAL COSTS , STILL OWING SEVERAL YEARS ON THE CAR, THIS IS A MAJOR FINANCIAL SITUATION. NOT TO MENTION THAT THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS JUST LIKE OURS AND TO EVEN THE SAME MAKE, MODEL AND EVEN YEAR. WHY!!!! IS THERE NOT A RECALL BEFORE SOME GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. AS IT IS, IT HAS JUST MADE ME SICKER TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO ABOUT A VEHICLE THAT WE THOUGHT WE COULD TRUST!

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, A LOUD CLICKING NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND THE WARNING FLASH DISPLAYED TO "SHUT ENGINE OFF DUE TO NO OIL". THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER (MATTHEW HARGREAVES, 2000 E. 12 MILE RD, ROYAL OAK MI) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR MAIN ENGINE SEAL AND CYLINDER HEAD WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000. *TT *TR
I PURCHASED A 2013 CHEVY EQUINOX ON 5/2/16. ON 1/1/18 WITH 84,000 MILES, I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY 4 CHILDREN AND THE STABILITY TRACK, REDUCED POWER WARNING FLASHED, ENGINE MALFUNCTION WARNING, AND THEN A MESSAGE TO STOP THE ENGINE. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY IN 0 DEGREE WEATHER WITH MY AND STOPPED THE ENGINE. AFTER WAITING OVER 2 HRS I WAS TOWED HOME. ON 1/2/18 CHEVY'S CORPORATE OFFICE ADVISED TOWING TO CHEVY DEALER. I TOOK ALL OF MY SERVICE RECORDS AS REQUESTED. 2 DAYS LATER I WAS TOLD THE MAIN SEAL FAILED AND WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND CHEVY HAD REFUSED ANY REPAIR COST ASSISTANCE SO $1500 WAS THE QUOTE LATER THAT DAY THEY QUOTED ME $2000. I PURCHASED THE CHEVY 18 MONTHS PRIOR AND OWE WAY TOO MUCH MONEY. AFTER GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH JEFF SCHMITT CHEVY IN BEAVERCREEK, OH AND CHEVY'S CORPORATE OFFICE, EACH BLAMING THE OTHER FOR REFUSING REPAIR ASSISTANCE AND NOT HONORING THE WARRANTY. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK HOME AND WAS BILLED $130.00+ FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE DEALER ACTED ANNOYED BY MY REQUEST TO HAVE THE RESULTS OF THE DIAGNOSTICS IN WRITING ON THE BILL. I WAS ALSO RACKING UP A RENTAL CAR TAB. THE NEXT DAY I CALLED OTHER DEALERS WHO QUOTED $1300 BUT THE SEAL WAS ON BACKORDER. I LOCATED A DEALER 2 HOURS AWAY WHO HAD THE PART IN STOCK AND QUOTED $1300 BASED ON THE DIAGNOSTIC. I HAD THE CAR TOWED 2 HOURS AWAY $ TO FIND OUT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD HAD FAILED CAUSING THE SEAL TO FAIL AND COST $2200. [XXX] DIAGNOSTIC? THIS CHEVY BURNS OIL LIKE CRAZY. 1000 MILES AFTER AN OIL CHANGE AND THE DIPSTICK IS DRY, BUT NO OIL LEAKS.? NOW THE LIFTGATE HAS GONE ROGUE. IT OPENS AND THEN CLOSES VERY FORCEFULLY (VIOLENTLY), IMMEDIATLY AFTER OPENING INJURING ME. I FIND IT EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS AND HAVE BANNED MY CHILDREN FROM OPERATING THE LIFTGATE FOR FEAR THAT IT MAY CRUSH ONE OF THEM. GENERATIONS OF MY FAMILY HAVE BEEN VERY LOYAL TO CHEVY. The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly brake and jerk. After the failure, the vehicle would drive and operate as needed. The contact experienced the failure approximately six times. The brake warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
COLD WEATHER CAUSED THE PVC VENT LINE TO FREEZE SHUT. THIS FREEZING CAUSES EXCESS CRANK CASE PRESSURE. THIS PRESSURE BLEW THE REAR MAIN SEAL OF THE ENGINE. WE WERE DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WE CAUGHT IT BEFORE THE ENGINE SEIZED FROM LACK OF OIL BUT NO ENGINE LIGHTS OR LOW OIL PRESSURE INDICATORS CAME ON. WITHIN SECONDS OF PARKING THE VEHICLE ALL OF THE OIL IN THE ENGINE HAD DRAINED OUT. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY OR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE SEIZED. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC IT WOULD HAVE CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION IMMEDIATELY. GM IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH THE 2.4L ECOTEC MOTORS AND HAS A BULLETIN OUT FOR IT. THERE ARE NO FIXES FOR THE ISSUE AND IF DRIVERS ARE UNAWARE OF IT THEY WILL BLOW UP THEIR MOTORS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR VEHICLES THAT ARE DRIVEN IN COLD CLIMATES. NOT JUST A BULLETIN THAT YOU WILL ONLY FIND OUT AFTER THE ENGINE HAS SEIZED. ATTACHED IS A PICTURE OF THE OIL LEAKING FROM THE REAR MAIN SEAL.
CONTINUOUSLY LOOSES OIL HAD TEST DONE ONIT REPEATEDLY HAD SEALS AND GASKETS IN ENGINE REPLACED
I WAS DRIVING AT 55MPH AND THE RED LIGHTS CAME ON SAYING TO CHECK ENGINE OIL LOW-I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY AND MY ENGINE WAS ALREADY BLOWN. I GET MY OIL CHANGES EVERY 3000-3500 MILES. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE REAR SEAL GASKET BLEW AND THE ENGINE WAS GONE IMMEDIATELY. I NOW HAVE A CAR THAT I STILL OWE ON AND I NEED A NEW ENGINE AT 120,000 MILES. VERY UPSET THAT THE PRICE YOU PAY FOR THESE CARS THAT ALL YOU CAN GET IS 120,000 MILES.
ON 12/25/2017 MY ENGINE FAILED AT 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS ALMOST RE-ENDED BY THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME DUE TO THE RAPID DECELERATION OF MY VEHICLE BUT MANAGED TO SAFELY PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WHERE WE WAITED FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE IN -20 WINDCHILLS. THE ENGINE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A FROZEN PCV VALVE ORIFICE WHICH PRESSURIZED THE CRANKCASE AND BLEW THE MAIN SEAL. AFTER REPLACING THE MAIN SEAL IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE WAS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. MY VEHICLE ENGINE AND YEAR MATCHES THE GROUP COVERED BY SPECIAL SERVICE ADJUSTMENT 14882 BUT MY VIN, LIKE SO MANY LISTED ON THIS SITE, WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SPECIAL COVERAGE DESPITE THE FACT THAT MY ENGINE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE EXACT DEFECT DEFINED IN BULLETIN 14882.
"TAKATA RECALL" MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO REASON, IT COST ME 105.00 AT STAFFILINO CHEVROLET FOR THEM TO TELL ME I HAVE AN INTERNAL SHORT IN THE PASSENGER PRESENCE MODULE AND IT WILL COST ME 656.00 TO HAVE IT FIXED. I SAW WHERE THE TAKATA RECALL WILL NOT BE COMPLETE UNTIL 2019. THIS DOES NOT HELP NOW AND I WOULD LIKE TO BE ADDED TO THE RECALL NOW. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED AND THIS LIGHT CAME ON OUT OF NOWHERE
I MADE AN APPOINTMENT 2013 EQUINOX INTO THE DEALER BECAUSE I WAS SMELLING STRONG EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CAB. AS SOON AS I TALKED TO THE MECHANIC HE TOLD ME IT WAS MOST LIKELY A CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND THAT IT IS HAPPENING FREQUENTLY IN THE EQUINOX MODELS. THEN 2 DAYS BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT TO GET MY CAR LOOKED AT MY CHECK ENGINE LIKE TURNED ON SO I PARKED IT AND DIDN'T DRIVE IT UNTIL IT WAS TIME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN I GOT THERE I LET THEM KNOW THAT THE LIGHT HAD JUST CAME ON. AFTER INSPECTING MY CAR THEY FOUND THAT THE EXHAUST CAMSHAFT ACTUATOR SOLENOID WAS OUT OF SPEC. THE REMOVED IT AND REPLACED IT AND FOUND A LOT OF METAL SHAVINGS ON THE ACTUATOR. R/R INTAKE SOLENOID AND AND CLEANED MORE METAL SHAVINGS OFF OF THAT. THEY CHECKED THE OIL AND THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK, CAR IS NOT LEAKING OIL AND HAS BEEN REGULARLY MAINTAINED. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP CAME OUT AND TALKED WITH US AND SAID THAT WE NEED A FULL ENGINE REBUILD BECAUSE THESE CARS WILL START TO USE OIL AND THE TIMING CHAIN WEARS THE GUIDE OUT AT THEN THE CHAIN GETS WORN OUT AND IT RUINS THE ENTIRE ENGINE. THERE WAS NO INDICATORS OF ISSUES UNTIL THE ENGINE IS SHOT. THE DEALERSHIP AND GM SAID THAT THERE IS A SPECIAL PROGRAM FOR 2010 - 2012 EUQINOX TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BUT BECAUSE MINE IS A YEAR NEWER (2013) THAT MY VEHICLE DOESN'T QUALIFY. NOT ONLY IS THE ENGINE TOTALLY SHOT AFTER 117,000 MILES AND 4 YEARS BUT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS CRACKED RIGHT AT THE THE FRESH AIR INTAKE AND SO IT SUCKS EXHAUST RIGHT INTO THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE HEAT IS RUNNING. IT IS SO STRONG THAT THE WINDOWS HAVE TO BE ROLLED DOWN TO DRIVE IT. NOT SAFE!!! SUPER DANGEROUS TO BE FILLING THE CAB WITH CARBON MONOXIDE! NOT TO MENTION THE ENGINE IS TOTALLY SHOT DUE TO A DESIGNE FLAW AND COULD BREAK DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AT ANYTIME.
MY CAR IS CUTTING OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS IN TRAFFIC AND WHEN PARKING ALSO AT STOP LIGHTS. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP TO HAVE IT CHECKED DUE TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY COMING ON. ONLY TO FIND OUT MY CAR HAD NO OIL. NOTE I KEEP MY ROUTINE MAINTENANCE UP ON MY CAR DUE TO HAVING A SMALL CHILD. ALSO CAM SHAFT CODE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I JUST PAID CAR PAYMENT. READING COMPLAINTS I SEE THIS PROBLEM IS HAPPENING ALOT. NOT SURE IF I WILL KEEP THIS CAR FEELING VERY UNSAFE WITH A SMALL CHILD AND CAR CUTTING OFF AND OIL RUNNING OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS GMC SHOULD FIX THIS PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED YEARS AGO. PUTTING FAMILIES LIFE IN DANGER JUST TOO MAKE A DOLLAR. SAFETY FIRST IS MY #1 REASON FOR SHARING THIS MY CAR CUT OFF 12 TIMES IN ONE DAY REALLY & I WOULD KEEP THIS CAR .I COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE CAR TURNING OFF .I HAVE TO TAKE THE KEY OUT AND RESTART IT REALLY ON 2013.I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME ONCE AGAIN I HAVE A LEMON AND I KNOW FOR FACT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM
ENGINE BURNED A QUART OF OIL PER 1,000 MILES, HAD TO MONITOR IT REGULARLY. ODOMETER HAD JUST GONE OVER 100,000 MILES. THE ENGINE HAS NOW BLOWN. HAD JUST ADDED A QUART OF OIL BECAUSE IT WAS LOW AGAIN, AND THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING, IT STARTED MISSING, KNOCKING VIOLENTLY, AND EXPELLED A LARGE PUFF OF SMOKE AND DIED. NOW WILL NOT START AND MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS NO OIL WAS IN THE ENGINE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH EQUINOX WE ARE FINDING OUT, BUT DEALER STATES THERE ARE NO RECALLS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEFROSTER WOULD NOT FUNCTION AND FAILED TO PRODUCE WARM AIR ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AIR WOULD BLOW ONTO HIS FEET NO MATTER THE SETTING. THE CONTACT CALLED KINGMAN ARIZONA CHEVROLET (3730 STOCKTON HILL RD, KINGMAN, AZ 86409, (928) 377-4150) AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
THE CAR DIDN'T START AFTER PARKING FOR FOOD PICKUP, WE NOTICED THAT AFTER GETTING A BOOST, THE 'ENGINE LIGHT' WAS LIT, IT STAYED ON. THIS HAPPENED TWICE AGAIN, BUT WE USED OUR INSURANCE ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE, AGAIN THE 'ENGINE LIGHT' REMAINED LIT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, WHEREAS WE PURCHASED A BATTERY CHARGER. DURING DRIVE/ WAITING AT MULTIPLE RED LIGHTS, AND BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACES, THE CAR STALLS- TO THE POINT WE PUT IT 'N', AFTER EXPERIENCING STALLS WHEN PLACED IN 'P'. THE OIL CAN BE LOW, BUT NO INDICATOR ON THE PANEL, BUT THE PANEL READS CHECK ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SO WE TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND INFORMED IT WAS THE BATTERY, SEEKING ANOTHER OPINION, WE WERE TOLD IT WASN'T THE BATTERY, BUT ANOTHER PART OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. UPON TRYING TO HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED, WE WERE TURNED DOWN DUE TO THE 'ENGINE LIGHT'. WE WENT TO A REPUTABLE CAR PART DEALER, AND INFORMED IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN, TIMING SENSOR, ALONG WITH (2) TWO OTHER CODES. THE BATTERY IS HID UNDER A HOUSING/ COVER, WHICH MADE IT HARD TO GET A BOOST, WHEN THE RECOMMENDED CHARGING PROCEDURE DIDN'T WORK. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING, AND RESEARCH LEADS US TO UNDERSTAND, THAT A COSTLY REPAIR IS AHEAD. PLUS, OUR RESEARCH OF THE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS, SHOWS THAT THEY OCCURRED IN EARLIER MODELS. THE (2013)VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM A NATIONAL CAR RENTAL AGENCY, NOV 2015, IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS DEFECTIVE AT PURCHASE TIME, WITH UNRESOLVED ISSUES AS EARLIER MODELS? ADDITIONALLY, THE CAR HAS VEERED/ JERKED TO EITHER SIDE, FROM STOP TO GO, AND WHILE DRIVING, WITHOUT US TURNING THE WHEEL. THANK THE LORD THE LATTER, OCCURRED AT LOW SPEEDS, AND DRY PAVEMENT. THE 'WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN' DATE IS THE LATEST DATE, NOT THE ONLY DATE.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE . I HAD TO HAVE THE DEALER CHECK THE OIL CONSUMPTION EVERY 1000 MI FOR 3000 MI FOR DOCUMENTATION. AT THE END OF THAT 3000 MI THE CAR WAS LOW 4.5 QUARTS OF OIL. PER GM THAT IS WITHIN THEIR 'SPECS' AND WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIRS NEEDED IE; PISTONS AND PISTON RINGS AT THIS POINT.. EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN GM ISSUE ON THIS VEHICLE. THE CAR SHAKES AND DIES WHEN STOPPING AND IDLING. RUNS TERRIBLE AND YOU CAN HEAR THE RATTLES IN THE ENGINE. I CAR IS CONSUMING EXCESSIVE OIL. MY CAR WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL 2 WEEKS AFTER AN OIL CHANGE, THE CAR WAS MAKING A LOUD NOISE AND HESITATING WHEN YOU STEPPED ON THE GAS. THE PISTON RINGS AND SEALS ARE BAD. I AM 19,000 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY. GM IS COVERING THE 2011&2012 MODEL UP TO 120000 MILES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE DID AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. FLAT TOW THIS CAR BEHIND MOTOR HOME. YESTERDAY WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN FROM STOP AT A REDLIGHT THE CAR STEERING BEGAN TO PULSATE FROM LEFT TO RIGHT SHAKING THE CAR AND MOTOR HOME. STOPPED IMMEDIATELY IN TRAFFIC. AFTER ACCELERATING FROM STOP THE CAR WAS NORMAL. FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE TOWING ABOUT 10000 MILES OVER THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF. THEY HAVE SO FAR ISSUED SERVICE BULLETINS FOR 2010-2012MY TO REPLACE THE PISTON RINGS AND TIMING CHAIN BECAUSE IN THIS SITUATION, THE TIMING CHAIN CAN STRETCH CAUSING IT TO SKIP SEVERAL TEETH AND CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE. I COMPLAINED ABOUT EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION (1 QUART EVERY ~1000 MILES) TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER IS INSTRUCTED TO DO AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST BY GM. 200 MILES AFTER WE BEGAN THIS OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, I STARTED THE CAR ONE MORNING AND THERE WERE LOUD SOUNDS COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I HAVE A 2013 CHEVY EQUINOX WITH MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR TIRES 235/55R18 99T M+S DOT M33J 007X 1810. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 42,000 MILES ON IT. THE TIRE TREAD ON ALL FOUR TIRES IS PEELING AWAY FROM THE SIDEWALL, EXACTLY WHAT IS OCCURRING WITH THE OTHER SIZES OF LATITUDE TOUR TIRES THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED. THE TIRE THAT I HAVE SHOULD ALSO BE RECALLED BECAUSE I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE OTHER RECALLED TIRES AND HAVE TO REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES IMMEDIATELY, NOT BECAUSE THE TREAD IS WEARING OUT, BUT BECAUSE THEY ARE IN DANGER OF BLOWING OUT DUE TO THE TREAD/SIDEWALL SEPARATION, WHICH IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.

IN 2013, I ACTUALLY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO INQUIRE ABOUT SOME SMOKE COMING FROM FRONT OF CAR DURING RAIN/SNOW, AND SOME SHAKING WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC. I WAS INFORMED THESE WERE NORMAL FUNCTIONS DUE TO THE CLIMATIC WEATHER AND BRAKING SYSTEM. I TOOK THEM AT THEIR WORD. IN THE SUMMER OF 2017 WHILST DRIVING TO WORK, THE CAR CUT OFF, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC, AND WAS TOLD THE OIL HAD BURNED VERY LOW. SHOULD A 2013 BURN COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL IN THREE MONTHS? I HAD TO GET AN OIL CHANGE, REPLACEMENT OF INTAKE AND EXHAUST CAMSHAFT POSITION SOLENOIDS. IT WASN'T UNTIL I HAD THE ALMOST EXACT ISSUE HAPPEN IN JAN, 2018 THAT I WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE WAS BURNING OIL AT A HIGH SPEED. CAR TICKS, MECHANIC SAYS DUE TO ENGINE NEEDING REPLACED. GMC/CHEVY REFUSE. THE REPAIR REPORT SAYS "CAR RUNS FINE" MY CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, WASN'T RUNNING.
I WAS DRIVING HOME IN THE RAIN AND THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER STOPPED WORKING SUDDENLY. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC FRIEND THAT IT WAS THE MOTOR THAT WENT OUT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.WIPER MOTORS ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR. AFTER THE FAILURE, THE BLUE LOX MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INHERENT TO THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING. THE GMC MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND TRANSFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA WITHOUT THE CONTACT'S KNOWLEDGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 44,833.
6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE CAR BEGAN STALLING. VEHICLE ALWAYS WAS LOW ON OIL, EVEN WITH PROPER MAINTENANCE. LOSS OF ACCELERATION SPEED AND STALLING BECAME USUAL. FINALLY AFTER FILLING THE TANK IT STALLED AND WOULD NOT START SO WE HAD IT TOWED. TIMING CHAIN WAS THE REASON GIVEN SO $3600 LATER I FIGURED IT WAS FIXED. NOT THE CASE. OIL WAS STILL HAVING TO BE ADDED AND 1.5 YEARS LATER WHILE DRIVING, THE MOTOR HAS BLOWN. WE STILL OWE 9K ON A CAR THAT IS INOPERABLE AND ALSO USAA REQUIRES US TO KEEP OUR INSURANCE. I
BOTH WIPERS, DRIVER AND PASSENGER ARE NOT WORKING AT ALL.
