POLICE VEHICLE: IN PURSUIT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 40MPH. BOTH DRIVER& PASSENGER WAS PROPERLY BELTED. CROSSED RAILROAD TRACKS WHICH WERE RAISED, DUGGED UP & PAVED OVER. DRIVER LOST CONTROL & WENT INTO A DITCH, FRONT END FIRST. VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO ROLL END TO END FIRST & THEN CORNER TO CORNER THREE (3) TIMES. PASSENGER IN THE FRONT WAS EJECTED THROUGH DOOR WHICH HAD CAME OPEN. SEAT BELT BUCKLE MECHANISM HAD RELEASED THE BELT. DRIVER REMAINED BELTED IN VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNK. DRIVER PULLED OVER, OPENED THE HOOD, AND DISCOVERED FLAMES COMING FROM ENGINE. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SEEN.*AK THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE GAS LINE WHERE IT WENT INTO THE ENGINE AND THIS CAUSED A FLASH FIRE. *YH
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM FRONT HOOD AREA,THEN HUGE FIRE BALL FROM HOOD AREA,ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BURNT.DEALER CONTACTED AND HAVE CAR,WAITING FOR THERE RESPONSE.
I HAVE GOT THE THIRD STEERING COLUMN, THIRD SET OF TIRES AND A NEW CRADLE. THE PROBLEM STARTED AT 4437 MILES AND HAS CONTINUED YET @ 37204 MILES. HAVE BEEN TO MANY DEALERS, CONTACTED GM AND NOW HAVE A BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU COMPLAINT FILED. THE DEALERS TOLD ME IT WAS THE TIRES AND THE TIRE DEALERS TOLD ME IT WAS THE CAR. IN 4000 MILES MY TIRES WENT FROM 9/32" TO 3/32" WEAR. THE "KLUNK" IN THE FRONT END IS STILL THERE. THE VEHICLE LIKES TO "WANDER" DOWN THE ROAD WITH VIBRATIONS FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOOK IT ON MANY TEST DRIVES AND CONTACTED THE REGIONAL MANAGER=WHO SAID "NOT ANOTHER DIME IN THIS CAR". I WAS ESCORTED TO THE SALES DEPARTMENT AND INTRODUCED TO A SALESMAN FOR PURPOSES OF TRADING THE VEHICLE IN. THE OFFER WAS LESS THAN NADA TRADE VALUE. I HAVE CONTACTED GM'S ASSISTANCE LINE MANY TIMES AND JUST GOT THE "RUN AROUND" WITH OPERATORS DOCUMENTING CONVERSATION AND NO ONE WOULD LET ME TALK TO A "REAL" SUPERVISOR. ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS ASK FOR A FAIR SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEMS THAT THE DEALERS AND GM KNOW THAT THEY HAVE. MY VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS SINCE I BOUGHT IT. WHY = IF GM STATES IN THEIR LITERATURE = THEY ARE COMMITTED TO "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION" = NOT RESPONSIVE IN A FAIR MANNER AND I HAD TO TAKE THIS ISSUE TO ALL OF THESE EXTREMES????????????? AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT WILL COME ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP, THEY INDICATED THAT AIR BAG UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT OR NO DEPLOYMENT AT ALL IN AN ACCIDENT. *AK THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THE AIR BAG IS DEFECTIVE. *SCC
WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND IDLING, A FIRE STARTED UNEXPECTEDLY ON DASHBOARD NEAR CIGARETTE LIGHTER. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE BEFORE ANY INJURY OCCURRED. DEALERSHIP EXAMINED VEHICLE AND COULD NOT DETERMINE CAUSE OF THE FIRE BECAUSE THERE WERE NO MALFUNCTIONS WITH CIGARETTE LIGHTER, AND THERE WERE NO OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS NEAR THE AREA WHERE FIRE STARTED. DEALER FOUND RAW GAS POLLING ON HOT ENGINE BLOCK. EXAMINATION BY DEALER SHOWED FUEL RETURN LINE LEAKING DUE TO RODENT DAMAGE. RETURN LINE COMPONENTS ARE MADE OF A COMPOSITE MATERIAL WHICH APPARENTLY ATTRACTS SMALL GNAWING RODENTS WHICH ARE GNAWING ON TO THE POINT OF DESTRUCTION CAUSING FUEL LEAKS AND ALSO GNAWING ON ELECTRICAL WIRING. GENERAL MOTOR CARS PARKED IN THIS GARAGE FOR THE PAST 38 HAVE NEVER BEEN DAMAGED IN THIS MANNER. I SUSPECT SOMETHING IN THE COMPOSITE MATERIAL IS ATTRACTING GNAWING RODENTS. HAVING CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS CUSTOMER SERVICE I WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING UNDER THE HOOD THAT WOULD ATTRACT RODENTS. GENERAL MOTORS REFUSED TO ACCEPT THAT THE COMPOSITE MATERIAL MAY BE ATTRACTING GNAWING RODENTS. HAVING OWNED VARIOUS GM CARS OVER THE PAST 50 YEARS I HAVE NEVER HAD A SAFETY PROBLEM DUE TO RODENT DAMAGE. SOMETHING USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF THIS CAR IS ATTRACTING GNAWING ANIMALS.*AK

LOW TIRE AIR PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT GIVES FALSE READING. WHEN PRESSURE IS NOT LOW, IT WILL INDICATE IT IS,AND WHEN PRESSURE IS LOW, IT WILL READ PRESSURE IS FINE. THIS RESULTED IN A FLAT TIRE WHILE DRIVING. CONTACTED DEALER.*AK

PLASTIC BAG BYPASSED AIR INTAKE VENT LEADING TO THE AIR FILTER AND CUT OFF ALL AIR FLOW TO THE ENGINE WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. AUTO COMPLETELY WENT DEAD ON A VERY DANGEROUS PART OF THE 205 OVERPASS IN WEST LINN, OREGON. LARGE TRUCK ALMOST REAR ENDED US FROM BEHIND DUE TO THE SUDDEN STOP. HAD CAR TOWED FROM WEST LINN OREGON TO CURT WARNER CHEVROLET IN VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON. HAD CAR REPAIRED BY CURT WARNER AND WANTED TO KNOW WHY THE AIR INTAKE VENT WAS ABLE TO LET FOREIGN OBJECTS INTO THE AIR INTAKE VENT AND COMPLETELY CUT OFF ALL AIR FLOW TO THE ENGINE. WOULD THINK ALL AIR VENTS ON ALL CARS ARE COVERED BY A SCREEN TO PREVENT ANYTHING FROM COVERING THE AIR FILTER. CURT WARNER WOULD NOT COVER THE CHARGES OF $107.22 (LABOR = $74.00 & PARTS = $18.15 , MISC. CHARGES = $7.40, TAX = $7.67) TO REPLACE THE AIR FILTER AND TAKE A PLASTIC BAG OFF THE AIR FILTER. EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE. ALLOT OF 2000 CHEVROLET IMPALA POLICE CARS MAY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WHILE ON DUTY. THIS WILL CAUSE A ACCIDENT. I SURE HOPE NO ONE HAS A FATALITY BEFORE GM CORRECTS THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM.*AK

WHEN VEHICLE ENCOUNTERED SLIGHT VIBRATION IS COMMON HIGHWAY ROADS SURFACES, THE VEHICLE WILL JUMP, JERK AND WANDER FROM SIDE TO SIDE, FAVORING THE RIGHT SIDE. SPEEDS AT WHICH THIS ACCURS IS 45 TO 70 MILES AN HOUR. LOSS OF FORWARD, DIRECTIONAL CONTROL WILL ACCURE, VEHICLE WANDERS BACK AND FORTH. VEHICLE WILL FISHTAIL ON WET ROAD CONDITIONS. VERY SEVER CORNER TO CORNER TIRE WEAR. REAR TIRES CONPLETELY BALD. CONSTANT TIRE ROTATION PROVES WORTHLESS. VEHICLE WILL PULL TO RIGHT FRONT WHEN BRAKES APPLIED. FRONT TO REAR ALIGHNMENT PROBLEMS. NO SPECS AVAILABLE FROM DEALERSHIP FOR ALIGHNMENT. SET REAR CAMBER, BOTH SIDES BY EYE. AN UNCONTROLED HIGHWAY SPIN RESULTED IN SEVER VEHICLE DAMAGE. ENGINE STALLS AT UPON ACCELERATION, SLOW SPEEDS, STREET LIGHTS, STOP SIGHNS., ETC. VEHICLE WILL ROLL FORWARD WHILE IN A REVERSE ACTION SUCH AS; BACKING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, DRIVE WAY.,ECT. THE STIFF/TIGHT STEERING ON MY IMPALA IS CAUSING MY HANDS, WRIST, ELBOW, SHOULDERS AND BACK TO BECOME VERY PAINFUL FINGERS. MY FINGERS ARE BENT AND TWISTED TO FIT TO THE CONTOUR OF THE STEERING WHEEL. WITH THIS TIGHT STEERING THE TEXTURE ON THE WHEEL WEARS OFF AND THE OPERATOR HAS TO GRASP THE WHEEL HARDER TO TURN THE WHEEL. HAVE TO USE TWO HANDS AND GRIP WHEEL HARD TO TURN IT. ALSO BAY COUNTY SHERIFF DEPTARTMENT DEPUTIES ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT BACK PAIN. REASON THEY HAVE THE BACK PAIN IS BECAUSE THE TORQUE THEY HAVE TO EXPERT ON THIS STIFF STEERING (WHICH IS MUCH MORE THEN IN THE PAST) TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL GOES DIRECTLY TO THE SMALL OF THEIR BACK IN THEIR HIPS, BECAUSE THE HIPS ARE SECURED TO THE SEAT BY THE SEAT BELT. THE SEATS ARE VINYL, AND THE EXCESSIVE TORQUE TRANSMIT TO THE SECURED PART OF THE BODY (THUS BEING THE BACK/HIP AREA). THE STEERING WHEEL TORQUE REQUIRED TO TURN THE WHEEL GOES FROM A STATE OF THE MUSCLES BEING RELAXED TO AND IMMEDIATE TAUNTNESS WHICH RESULTS IN A SHOCK LOAD TO THE JOINTS IN THE BONES. WHEN MAKING A TURN, THE TORQUES REQUIREMENT DOESN'T EASE UP, IT BECOMES HARDER TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL IN A TURN THUS MORE TORQUE IS REQUIRED. TO MAKE A TURN REQUIRES ONLY 90% TURN OF THE WHEEL. THIS LIMITED USE PROVIDES A BREAK DOWN OF THE FLUIDS IN THE SOCKET. ANY MINOR STEERING ADJUSTMENTS WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD REQUIRE THE MUSCLES TO SNAP TO ATTENTION TO MAKE THE ADJUSTMENT...THUS THE SHOCK LOADING OF THE JOINTS AND MUSCLES. WHILE DRIVING MY IMPALA, I MADE 68 STEERING ADJUSTMENTS IN A ONE MILE OF LEVEL ROAD, WHICH MEANT I FLEXED ALL THE REQUIRED MUSCLES TO ATTENTION 68. DT
WINDSHIELD HAD A VERTICAL CRACK IN IT WHICH HAS BEEN CLASSIFIED AS A 'STRESS FRACTURE' BY DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED WINDSHIELD. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS.*AK
VEHICLE ROLLS BACKWARD WHILE ON A SMALL INCLINE, AND AFTER MOVING FOOT OFF BRAKE PEDAL. VEHICLE BEEN IN/OUT OF DEALER SHOP ON THREE OCCASIONS, AND PROBLEM STILL OCCURRING. *AK
WHILE DRIVING COULD SEE THE BATTERY LIGHT COME ON, THEN ENGINE WILL STALL. CONSUMER WILL TURN IGNITION OFF FOR 10-15 MINUTES, THEN RESTART AGAIN. ON LAST VISIT TO DEALER, THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM TO BE DUE TO IMPROPERLY CONNECTED WIRES. REPAIRS WERE MADE, NO PROBLEMS SINCE. *AK *ML

VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ON A HILL & BRAKES WERE APPLIED TO STOP. TOOK FOOT OFF BRAKES & VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS UNTIL BRAKES WERE APPLIED AGAIN. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP & INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THIS WAS THE CHARACTERISTIC OF VEHICLE. *AK
AIR CONDITIONING BLOWER MOTOR EMITTED A HIGH-PITCHED NOISE AT 8,029 MILES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BLOWER MOTOR. THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURED AT 33,130 MILES. THE BLOWER WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE BRAKES BEGAN TO VIBRATE AT 17,000 MILES AT 55 MPH. THE DEALER REPAIRED OR REPLACED THE ROTORS ON THE FRONT END. THIS SAME VIBRATION REAPPEARED AT APPROXIMATELY 31,000 MILES. THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPAIR THE BRAKE ROTORS A SECOND TIME. ALSO AT APPROXIMATELY 31,000 MILES, THE FRONT END EMITTED A THUDDING SOUND AT LOW SPEEDS (20 MPH) . THE DEALER WOULD NOT CONSIDER THIS PROBLEM, THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS STILL WITHIN WARRANTY MILEAGE AND TIME. THE FINAL DIAGNOSIS ON THE THUDDING NOISE UNDER THE FRONT END WAS COMPLETELY "SHOT" STRUTS.
TIRE MONITOR IS READING WRONG INFORMATION WHICH IS CAUSING CONSUMER TO PULL OVER TO CHANGE TIRE.*AK. CONSUMER STATES THE PRESSURE IS BETWEEN 31 TO 33 PSA, THE TIRE MONITOR NEVER CAME TO WARN OF TIRE FAILURE, WHEN THE TIRE HAD A HOLE IN THE SIDE WALL CONSUMER STATED HE COULD STICK HIS HAND THROUGH THE TIRE.*JB
