TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH OR STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD 10 TO 15 FEET BY ITSELF. THE FAILURE OCCURS WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE PERFORMS THE SAME WAY WHEN IN REVERSE. FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALER HAS HAD THE VEHICLE. ALL OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL AGREED THAT THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD ABNORMALLY, BUT STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000. UPDATED 01-10-08. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED OVERHEAD DOME LIGHT STAYED ON, TRANSMISSION HESITATES AND BUMPS ON 1-2 SHIFT, AND A/C BLOWS WARM INTERMITTENTLY. UPDATED 01/04/07 *TR
GRINDING WHEN THE STEERING COLUMN WAS TURNED. I CONTACTED THE DEALER THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THEY SAID GMC WAS AWARE OF A STEERING COLUMN PROBLEM THAT CAUSED THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE TO HAVE THE STEERING COLUMN GREASED AT ABOUT 30,000 MILE INTERVALS. I CONTACTED GMC AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT YES THERE WAS A PROBLEM IN SOME OF THE IMPALAS BUT IT WAS COVERED IN THE 30,000 MILE WARRANTY. I ASKED WHAT ABOUT AFTER THAT THEY SAID SINCE IT WAS NOT ALL CARS IT WOULD THEN BE A MAINTENANCE ITEM. DEALERS ARE CHARGING ABOUT $100.00 TO GREASE THE STEERING COLUMN. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE THIS CAR IS JUST NOW 1 YEAR OLD AND IF THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING I WOULD LIKE THEM PERMANENTLY FIXED. GMC SAID SINCE NO DEATHS HAVE BEEN CAUSED AND IT WAS ONLY SOME CARS, THAT IS WAS NOT REALLY WORTH THEIR TIME TO HAVE THEM PERMANENTLY FIXED. NO ON TOP OF REGULAR MAINTENANCE WE MUST PAY TO HAVE A DEFAULT IN THE STEERING COLUMN FIXED ON A REGULAR BASIS AS LONG AS WE OWN THE VEHICLE. WHAT ABOUT INDIVIDUALS THAT CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE FIXED ON A REGULAR BASIS AND IT CAUSES ACCIDENTS? PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORT. *NM
SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. HAD A CAR IMPACT MY CAR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AT THE DRIVER'S DOOR. GLASS IN DOOR SHATTERED. DRIVER ONLY SUFFERED A SMALL SCRAPE ON BACK OF SHOULDER.*AK
THIS HAS OCCURRED NOW FOUR TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR THE FIRST THREE TIMES WERE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. THE DOOR BETWEEN THE AC AND THE HEAT GETS STUCK ON WAY OR THE OTHER NOW IT IS STUCK WHERE YOU GET HEAT ON DRIVERS SIDE AND AC ON PASSENGERS AND IN THE TEXAS HEAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, ITS A KNOWN DEFECT BECAUSE OTHER CHEVY OWNERS KNOW ABOUT IT AND MECHANICS YET NOTHING IS DONE ONCE A GAIN BY CHEVY TO FIX THE ISSUE, I KNOW OF SUBURBAN OWNERS, TRUCK - SILVERADO OWNERS, IMPALA OWNERS , MALIBU OWNERS OF ALL YEARS WHO HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA LTZ IN DECEMBER OF 2005 AND APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AGO I STARTED TO RECEIVE A MESSAGE FROM THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER ON AT LEAST FIVE OCCASIONS FOR THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS STILL NOT FIXED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS MORE THAN FULFILLED IT'S PART OF THE BARGAIN IN THAT THEY HAVE RE-PROGRAMMED THE SYSTEM ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS AND HAVE REPLACED THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT THE SUGGESTION OF THE FACTORY REP. INDIVIDUAL SENSOR ON THE PROBLEM WHEEL, (RIGHT REAR), HAS ALSO BEEN REPLACED, ALL TO NO AVAIL. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS CONTACTS BETWEEN THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MANUFACTURER DURING THIS TIME. THE LAST THAT I HEARD AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE AT THE SHOP FOR TWO DAYS WAS THAT THEY WERE WAITING FOR A CALL BACK FROM A SERVICE REP AND THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONSIDERING REPLACING THE ENTIRE RIGHT WHEEL AND HUB. THIS WAS ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO AND I STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD APPROXIMATELY TEN FEET AFTER PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH IN REVERSE. THE DEALER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A SALES DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE. MOST RECENTLY, THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND MANAGER DROVE THE VEHICLE AND EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND A SUV CAME FROM THE OTHER SIDE SPUN PASSED ME AND THEN HER REAR HIT ME HEAD ON- CAUSING 12,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE--MY CONCERN IS THE AIR BAGS IN MY 3WK OLD 2006 CHEVY IMPALA DID NOT DEPLOY I WAS TOLD THAT THE SENSORS WERE JUST MISSED AND I SHOULD BE HAPPY CAUSE I COULD OF BEEN INJURED MORE THAN WHAT HAD HAPPENED. ALSO MY ONSTAR WAS NOT ACTIVATED-- I CALLED THEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACTS SON OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 33 MPH AT NIGHT, THE CONTACTS SON CRASHED INTO A STALLED VEHICLE. HE STRUCK THE VEHICLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND NEITHER THE DRIVER NOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO HIS WRIST. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MAJOR FRONT END DAMAGE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE CRASH HAD TO HAVE BEEN A DIRECT HIT ON THE SENSOR. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 21,600. THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER PROVIDED PHOTOS OF THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 10/10/07 *TR
BROUGHT CAR TO DEALER SAID ISS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED....I WAS TOLD PER GM THIS IS NOT A RECALL PRODUCT JUST A NOISE ISSUE. I BEG TO DIFFER. THE ISS IS HINDERING THE STEERING TO MY VEHICLE AS WELL AS MAKING CLUNKING NOISES. IT IS HINDERING MY BREAKING ABILITY...CAR PULLS TO SIDE. IT IS HINDERING MY ABILITY TO TAKE OFF FROM COMPLETE STOP TIRES ARE STUTTERING. DEALERSHIP SAID ISS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOTHING ELSE WRONG WITH CAR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH IN THE RAIN ON THE HIGHWAY, TRAFFIC STOPPED ABRUPTLY, CAUSING A REAR END COLLISION WITH THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING THE ACCIDENT. ONE INJURY WAS SERIOUS ENOUGH FOR TRANSPORT TO THE HOSPITAL FOR POSSIBLE BACK INJURY. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AN OBJECT WAS DRAGGING UNDER THE VEHICLE. AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP DETERMINED THREE OF THE FOUR PLASTIC CLIPS THAT HELD ON THE HEAT SHIELD WERE MISSING. THE REPAIR SHOP MADE A TEMPORARY FIX WITH PLASTIC TIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO REPLACED THE HEAT SHIELD AND FUEL TANK. *AK
I PURCHASED A 2006 IMPALA GT IN JANUARY. AROUND AUGUST 3, 2006, MY FOB KEY STOPPED WORKING. I CALLED THE DEALER AND SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR SAT. AUG 5. THEY FIXED MY KEY AND AS I WAS LEAVING AN EMPLOYEE INFORMED ME THAT SHE HAD TO GET HER KEY FIXED APPROX. 6 TIMES. MONDAY, AUGUST 7, 2006 AS I WAS WALKING TO MY CAR I TRIED TO UNLOCK MY DOORS AND I COULDN'T; MY KEYS FAILED ONLY 2 DAYS AFTER HAVING IT FIXED. I CALLED THE DEALER TO SEE IF I COULD BRING IT IN. I WAS INFORMED I HAD TO MAKE AN APPT. I MADE ONE FOR SATURDAY BECAUSE THEY REFUSED TO LET ME BRING MY CAR IN AFTER I CAME HOME FROM WORK EVEN THOUGH THEY CLOSED AT 7:00 PM. I TOOK MY CAR IN SATURDAY AND A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TRIED TO FIX IT HIMSELF. HE COULDN'T, SO THEY TOOK IT TO THE BACK. AS I AM WAITING FOR MY CAR, A MAN BOUGHT IN HIS CHEVY COBALT FOR THE SAME REASON, HIS KEYS WOULD NOT WORK. ONCE MY CAR WAS READY THE REP GAVE ME A RECEIPT AND TOLD ME THAT THEY USUALLY DIDN'T FIX KEYS ON THE WEEKENDS...I HAD THEM FIXED THE WEEK BEFORE AND NO ONE SAID ANYTHING, PLUS I HAD AN APPOINTMENT.*JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TWO REAR BRAKE SYSTEM ROTORS FRACTURED PREMATURELY WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED 26000 MPH. *AK
INTERMITTENT PLASTIC BURNING SMELL. DEALER UNABLE TO LOCATE??? DRIVERS WINDOW ALSO SCREECHES LIKE MAD WHEN PUT DOWN. *JB
A WEEK AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER'S WINDOW WAS MAKING SCREECHING SOUND WHEN LOWERED. I TOOK IT BACK ON JULY 3, 2006. THE INSIDE DOOR PANEL WAS REMOVED AND THE ACTUATOR WAS LUBRICATED. LESS THAN A WEEK LATER THE SCREECHING NOISE CAME BACK. I THEN TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT CHEVROLET WAS IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING NEW WINDOW SEALS BUT THEY WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. I WAS TOLD TO WAIT UNTIL MY FIRST OIL CHANGE AND BY THAT TIME THE NEW GASKETS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE. *NM
AT ABOUT 5000 MILES ON MY 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA THE POWER STEERING LINE BLEW OUT. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED INTO THE CHEVROLET DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT, AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED, SLOWLY I MIGHT ADD. THE CAR NOW HAS ABOUT 12,000 MILES ON IT AND I AM NOTICING SOME NOISES IN THE STEERING. WHEN THE WHEEL IS TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT AND GAS IS APPLIED, IT MAKES A WEIRD CLICKING SOUND. THIS NOISE ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE WHEEL IS TURNED TO THE RIGHT. I AM TRYING TO DELAY BRINGING THE CAR TO THE SHOP, BECAUSE OF THE INCONVENIENCE OF NOT HAVING MY CAR. I UNDERSTAND THAT CARS DO HAVE DEFECTS AND JUST THOUGHT I WOULD REPORT THIS IN CASE IT IS SOMETHING SERIOUS. I WOULD HATE TO HAVE MINE OR SOMEONE ELSE'S STEERING GO OUT DURING DRIVING AND SOMEONE GET HURT. I REALLY HOPE THIS IS NO BIG DEAL, BUT I THINK IT'S WORTH LOOKING INTO. THE VEHICLE RAN HOT, WHEN I WENT TO CHECK ON IT, I SUFFERED SEVERE BURNS ON THE UPPER PORTION OF MY BODY SENDING ME TO THE HOSPITAL. A WEEK LATER THE VEHICLE DID IT AGAIN AFTER THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. *JB

THE CONTACT STATED WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT ANY POINT WHERE THE ENGINE WOULD BECOME WARM, THE ENGINE WOULD REMAIN WARM FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE HOURS AFTER SHUTTING OFF. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THERE TO BE A DEFECT IN THE WIRING OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 52,000.
2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA REAR TIRES HAD A SLOW LEAK CAUSING TIRES TO GO FLAT. *KB THE VEHICLE WAS A RENTAL. THE DAY THE VEHICLE WAS RENTED THE CONSUMER NOTICED INSTABILITY IN THE REAR END BUT ASSUMED IT WAS THE WAY THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN THE INSTABILITY WAS NOTICED. A FEW DAYS LATER THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WAS FLAT. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT WAS DETERMINED THAT NAILS IN THE TIRE CAUSED THE SLOW LEAK. THE RENTAL AGENCY LODGED A CLAIM AGAINST THE CONSUMER FOR THE DAMAGED TIRE. *NM
WE HAVE A 2006 CHEVY IMPALA AND THE STEERING LOCKS UP. IT LOCKS UP AT VARYING SPEEDS AND VARYING LENGTHS OF TIME. YESTERDAY WE WERE FORCED OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE THE STEERING WOULD NOT WORK. THE MECHANICS SAY THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO ONE ALONG SIDE US WHEN WE CROSSED THE OTHER LANES OF TRAFFIC. *TR
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES ON LONG INCLINE CAR'S FRONT-END AND INCLUDING THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATE VERY BADLY. GM DEALERSHIP HAS MADE 6 ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR WITHOUT SUCCESS. GM FELT THEY COULD DO NOTHING ELSE TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. CASH SETTLEMENT WAS MADE. WE STILL HAVE WHAT FEELS LIKE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I PURCHASED A 2006 CHEVY IMPALA ON MARCH 1, 2006. IT WAS PURCHASED UNDER THE NAME OF VIRGINIA BRADY. I GOT MARRIED IN MAY OF THIS YEAR. I HAD MY CAR IN 3 TIMES TO FIX THE DRIVERS WINDOW. IT SCREECHES LIKE SOMEONE'S FINGER NAILS ON A BLACK BOARD. TO ME THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE AS WHEN THE WINDOW SCREECHES WHEN YOU PUT DOWN THE WINDOW. A PERSON CRINGES AND SOMETIMES WILL CLOSE THEIR EYES. I HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL THAT I DO NOT DO THIS AS IT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE SCREECHING HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR SITS IN THE SUN FOR A WHILE. IN COOL WEATHER IT DOESN'T HAPPEN. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK THE CAR IN WAS MAY 22, 2006. THE REPORT THAT I RECEIVED FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEEMED LIKE I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT BECAUSE I AM A WOMAN. THE SECOND TIME WAS JUNE 8, 2006 AND THE LAST TIME WAS JULY 14, 2006. ON JULY 14, I RECEIVED A NOTICE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS A PROBLEM WITH A NUMBER OF 2006 CHEVY IMPALAS. I HAVE THE PAPER WORK THAT CHEVY ISSUED ON MAY 18, 2006 ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. NOW I AM SUPPOSE TO BRING BACK MY CAR AND LEAVE IT AGAIN. WHY AM I PAYING FOR A NEW CAR THAT SEEMS TO SPEND SO MUCH TIME IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BECAUSE CHEVY DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. THE NEXT PROBLEM THAT I CONSIDER A SAFETY PROBLEM IS THE DRIVER'S SIDE READ VIEW MIRROR. I AM A TALL PERSON SO I DIDN'T NOTICE THIS BEFORE, ALL I NOTICED WAS A CRACK UNDERNEATH THE MIRROR WHEN I BACKED INTO THE DRIVE WAY AT HOME. NOW I FOUND OUT THAT THE MIRROR DOESN'T GO TO THE RIGHT FAR ENOUGH FOR SAFETY. IF SOMEONE SHORTER THAN MYSELF OR SOMEONE WHO LIKES THE SEAT UP FURTHER THAN I DO, THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO USE THE REAR VIEW MIRROR PROPERLY. TODAY, SUNDAY, AUGUST 27, 2006, I GOT A CALL FROM JASON WHO WORKS AT THE CHEVY SERVICE ABOUT ME TAKING MY CAR BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THEM TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED ON THREE OCCASIONS WHILE PULLING OUT FROM A STOP THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES FAILED TO READ. THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEARS AND THE ENGINE STALLED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WOULD START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT AND THE FUSE BOX PANEL WAS REPLACED. AFTER THE SECOND INCIDENT THE FUSE BOX CONNECTORS WERE TIGHTENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AFTER THE THIRD INCIDENT AND WAS AWAITING INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
CAR SPEEDS UP WITH NO CRUISE CONTROL WHEN I THE HIT BRAKE IT GOES BACK TO NORMAL SPEED. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. CAR WANTS TO STOP AT STOP SIGNS MUST STEP ON GAS TO KEEP RUNNING. DRIVING ALONG CAR SOMETIMES FEEL LIKE ITS NOT GETTING GAS AND SHAKES AND MISSES. AIR CONDITION WORKS SOMETIMES BLOWS COLD THEN GOES TO HOT AIR. I THINK THIS IS UNSAFE. DEALER CAN'T FIND PROBLEMS CHEVY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS IS A 2006 CHEV IMPALA WITH 3.9 V6 ENGINE 8400 MILES ON IT . WE BOUGHT CAR IN MAY 2006 AND PROBLEMS STARTED RIGHT AWAY. *JB
BRAKE RECALL IS NOT LISTED ON SITE FOR IMPALA 2006 SS.. I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY BRAKES WHICH THE RECALL CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. THE UPGRADE IS NOT COMPLETED CAR IS HARDER TO STOP. GM AND TED EVENS (CS DEPARTMENT) FROM THE CHEVY DID NOT THINK OF IT HAS A BIG PROBLEM. HOWEVER I CAN TELL YOU MY CAR WILL STOP MUCH BETTER NOW. *JB
MY EIGHT YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER HAD CUT HER LEFT LEG JUST ABOVE THE KNEE WHEN ENTERING THE RIGHT REAR DOOR OF THE NEW CHEVROLET IMPALA THAT WE HAD JUST BOUGHT THAT SAME DAY, APRIL 29, 2006. THERE IS A "LATCH PLATE" LOCATED ON THE LOWER DOOR JAMS OF BOTH REAR DOORS AND THEY ARE OPENLY EXPOSED AND HAVE VERY SHARP EDGES. AS SHE WAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE, HER LEFT LEG BRUSHED ACROSS THE "LATCH PLATE" CAUSING HER INJURY. SHE REQUIRED EMERGENCY ROOM TREATMENT AND THREE STITCHES IN HER LEFT LEG. THE DESIGN AND LOCATION OF THIS "LATCH PLATE" MAKE IT DANGEROUS FOR PERSONS ENTERING AND EXITING THE THROUGH THE REAR DOORS OF THIS VEHICLE. *JB
THE 2006 IMPALA SINCE THE DAY WE PURCHASED IT HAS A HIGH PITCH EAR PIERCING LOUD NOISE THAT COMES MAINLY FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE SPEAKER AND LAST ABOUT 23 MINUTES. TURNING THE DIRECTIONAL ON EITHER WAY WILL MAKE THE NOISE CUT OFF. OUR VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES NOW AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO REMEDY OR KNOW WHAT IT IS??? WE HAVE ASKED SINCE DAY ONE FOR GM TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL ITEMS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON OUR NEW VEHICLE AND WE FEEL WE HAVE A "LEMON". GM REFUSES TO ANSWER US AND DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELT KIT HAS BEEN REPLACED AND UPDATED SOFTWARE TO THE RADIO AS WELL. THERE IS RUST UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AS WELL. ALL THESE ISSUES WERE SEEN BY US AND THE SERVICE DEPT 2 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. WE NEED HELP!!!!! WE FEEL THE SOUND WE ARE HEARING IS SOME TYPE OF ELECTRICAL WARNING OR DEFECT. THE TURN SIGNAL BEING CONNECTED TO THE PROBLEM INDICATES SUCH. WE HAVE THE NOISE ON TAPE AND GOT A GM SERVICE SUPERVISOR TO WITNESS THE TECHNICAL ISSUE HAPPENING (6-10-06), THE VEHICLE THEN WENT IN FOR THE 5 TIME AND THEY REPLACED THE AMPLIFIER. THE NOISE CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY 6-18-06, THAT WE DROVE IT. IT HAS BEEN IN 5 TIMES NOW SINCE THE DAY WE BOUGHT IT 4-15-06 AND WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ANYTIME IT RAINS, HEAVY WATER LEAKS INTO THE VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THROUGH THE FUSE BOX PANEL. THE FAILURE CREATES A PUDDLE OF WATER ON THE PASSENGER FLOOR AND ALSO AFFECTED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ESPECIALLY THE WINDOW MOTORS. THE FAILURE HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE APRIL OF 2006 AND THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. ON MAY 17,2008, THE GENERAL MANAGER WAS ABLE TO SEE THE PUDDLE OF WATER AND STATED THAT THE WATER WAS ENTERING IN THROUGH THE FUSE BOX PANEL. THE TECHNICIANS REPAIRED THE FUSE BOX PANEL DUE TO CORROSION AND SEALED THE COWL. THE FAILURE HAS RECURRED AND THE GENERAL MANAGER ADVISED HIM TO CALL NHTSA TO FILE A SAFETY COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 38,150 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE. UPDATED
NEW 2006 CHEVY IMPALA TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE UPON ACCELERATION AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP WHEN TRANSMISSION IS COLD. THIS CAUSES HESITATION UPON ACCELERATION AFTER STOP SIGNS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS. *JB

AC BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR (THERE ARE 3 OF THEM) IS INSUFFICIENTLY DESIGNED TO HOLD UP TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE LOCATION OF THE SWITCHES MAKES MAINTENANCE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. IT WOULD BE ASSUMED THAT THE DESIGN WOULD BE SUFFICIENT TO HOLD UP UNDER SEVERAL YEARS USE SINCE ACCESSIBILITY TO THESE PARTS IS VERY DIFFICULT. THE PARTS THEMSELVES COST ABOUT $27 (TWICE THAT AT THE DEALERSHIP) AT YOUR PARTS STORE BUT THE DEALERSHIP AND/OR INDEPENDENT MECHANICS CHARGE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO REPLACE THIS PART. MY CAR IS NOW 10 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE ALL 3 OF THESE SWITCHES AT LEAST TWICE AND THE MOST DIFFICULT TO GET TO SWITCH HAS BEEN REPLACED A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES. IT SEEMS THAT THE ACTUAL LIFE EXPECTANCY OF THESE PARTS (IN ACTUAL USE) IS APPROXIMATELY +/- 15 MONTHS. *TR

THE LS4 V8 ENGINE IS RATED BY GM AT 323 LB-FT OF TORQUE. ALLEGEDLY, THE DOCUMENTS FROM GM FOR THE TRANSAXLE MATED TO THIS MOTOR IS ONLY RATED FOR 280 LB-FT OF ENGINE TORQUE; 43 LB-FT OF TORQUE LOWER THAN THE OUTPUT OF THE ENGINE. THIS COULD POSSIBLY LEAVE A VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH THIS MOTOR AND TRANSAXLE COMBINATION WITH A HIGH FAILURE RATE AND A POSSIBLE SAFETY HAZARD WHILE IN TRAFFIC. DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED TWICE. AFTER THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY REPLACED A RELAY SWITCH. THE SECOND TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS INDICATED THE ENGINE DROPPED TO THREE CYLINDERS. THE DEALER TOLD THE CONTACT THE VEHICLE WAS GOING INTO LIMP MOD DUE TO COMPUTER AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED.*AK
REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON, THEN CAR STOPPED. I WAS NOT FAR FROM HOME ON THE FIRST FAILURE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY FOUND A BAD GROUND WIRE AND REPLACED IT. THE SECOND FAILURE , THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STOPPED. I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE THIS TIME AND WAS TOWED. THEY FOUND A BRAKE SWITCH SHORTED AND WIRE SHORTED TO THE BCM THIS OCCURRED ON 10-12-05. NOW WHEN THE WIPERS ARE ON HIGH THE CAR ROCKS FROM FRONT TO BACK ! *NM
2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER STATES THAT IN A GOVERNMENT CRASH TEST THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AT 35 MPH BUT IN HIS VEHICLE THEY DID NOT DEPLOY AT 52 MPH. *NJ
