1/24/2008 AND 2/27/2008 MY POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAILED. ONCE ENTERING A HIGHWAY AND ONCE ENTERING A BRIDGE; BOTH TIMES I NARROWLY ESCAPED ACCIDENT AND INJURY. T HE FIRST TIME I WAS TOWED TO BAST CHEVROLET IN SEAFORD NY (MY DEALER). BAST SAID THE PROBLEM WAS THE RETURN HOSE OF THE POWER STEERING PUMP, AND THAT THERE WAS A BULLETIN ON PROBLEMS WITH THIS PUMP. I WAS TOLD THE HOSE WAS REPLACED AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THE SECOND TIME AFTER BEING TOWED TO 2 DEALERS(THE FIRST SAID HE HAD NO TIME TO LOOK AT IT.) I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE RETURN HOSE ON THE POWER STEERING PUMP. WHEN I TOLD HIM IT HAD JUST BEEN REPLACED LAST MONTH, HE TOLD ME THE FIRST DEALER NEVER REPLACED IT; HE ONLY ADDED A CLAMP. THE FIRST DEALER WHEN CONTACTED REPEATED THAT THE HOSE WAS REPLACED BUT WHEN I TOLD HIM ABOUT THE SECOND DEALER HE CHANGED HIS STORY SAYING THE SECOND DEALER WAS RIGHT, AND THAT ONLY THE CLAMP WAS CHANGED. MY COPY OF THE REPAIR INVOICE SAYS THEY CHANGED THE HOSE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 45-50 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON. SHE BELIEVED BOTH VEHICLES WERE DESTROYED. THE FRONT END OF HER VEHICLE WAS CRUSHED AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT INJURED HER BACK AND HEAD, AND IS CURRENTLY SEEING A DOCTOR. HER SIX MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WAS SEATED IN THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT AND SUSTAINED A BLACK EYE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 94,000.
MY WIFE WAS REAR ENDED BY AN 04 LINCOLN WHILE TRAVELING 40MPH. THIS TURNED HER 06 CHEVY IMPALA INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH A FORD RANGER GOING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION. RANGER DOING 40-45 MPH, IMPALA DOING 40MPH. MY IMPALA IS BEING REPAIRED AND IS NOT TOTALED. MY WIFE WAS THE DRIVER AND WAS INJURED IN THIS CRASH. SHE HAS NECK, BACK, AND SHOULDER PAIN AS WELL AS HEAD ACHES. AIR BAG NEVER DEPLOYED!! I HAVE PICS OF IMPALA SHOWING DEAD ON / HEAD ON IMPACT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE MAKING A TURN AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE STEERING WHEEL BARELY MOVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TWICE AND, ON BOTH OCCASIONS, THEY STATED THAT THE CLAMPS WERE NOT HOLDING THE POWER STEERING LINE. THE HOSE WAS CLAMPED ON BOTH VISITS. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED TO THE DEALER ON FEBRUARY 11, 2008 FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND WAS UNABLE TO BE TURNED. THE VEHICLE SWERVED OFF THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO SEVERAL TREES, AND THEN OVERTURNED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE THREE PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION AND HEAVY BRUISING. THE REAR SEAT PASSENGERS WERE CHILDREN AND THEY RECEIVED MAJOR CUTS, WHICH NEEDED STITCHING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY, BUT HAS NOT YET BEEN DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS CONSIDERED TO BE DESTROYED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 52,000. MY DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WAS FALLING DOWN AND WOULD NOT STAY UP. THE COMPANY REPLACED IT FOR FREE. HOWEVER, THE PASSENGER SIDE IS FALLING AS WELL AND MY WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. THIS BLOCKING VIEW NOT TO MENTION UNATTRACTIVE. I HAVE AN OTHERWISE BEAUTIFUL CAR. *TR
VERY NOISY FRONT END COMPONENTS, IT SEEMS TO BE MORE NOISE AT A SLOW SPEED. IT RATTLES, ROARS, JUST VERY NOISY. THIS IS AT SLOW SPEED GOING DOWN A NORMAL STREET.
LOST THE POWER STEERING. LOSE OF ALL POWER STEERING FLUID ON HOME DRIVEWAY. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER. DEALER SAID A HOSE CAME OFF AND REPLACED THE HOSE AND CLAMP. TOW TRUCK DRIVER KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN HE VIEWED THE FLUID ON THE DRIVEWAY. HE SAID HE HAS TOWED SEVEN IMPALAS IN THE LAST MONTH FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
NOISE IN STEERING COLUMN WHEN BACKING UP. *TR
BATTERY DIED WHILE THE CAR SAT IN THE GARAGE. VERY LOW MILEAGE. AFTER CHARGING CAR WAS ALRIGHT FOR A WEEK OR TWO. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY UNDER WARRANTY. SOLVED THE PROBLEM. *TR
I NOTICED THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS WEARING EXTENSIVELY ON THE OUTSIDE. FIRST I CHECKED THE TIRE PRESSURE AND IT WAS AT THE PROPER AMOUNT. THEN I WENT TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED AND WAS TOLD TO HAVE THE ALIGNMENT CHECK BY THE TIRE SERVICEMAN. THEN I WENT TO HAVE THE TIRES ALIGNED AND THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE TIE ROD ENDS HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE WORN OUT AND LOOSE. I PERSONALLY OBSERVED THE FRONT WHEELS AND THEY BOTH WERE EXTREME LOOSE. THE CAR HAS BEEN REGULARLY SERVICED BY THE CHEVROLET LOCAL DEALER AND ONLY HAD 37,500 MILES ON IT. I HAD IT SERVICED AT APPROXIMATELY 35,500 MILES BY THE CHEVROLET DEALER. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER, WHO AGREED THAT BOTH THE TIE RODS ENDS NEEDED REPLACING AND THAT HE THOUGHT THEY COULD BE REPLACED WITH CHEVROLET PAYING FOR THEM. BOTH THE ALIGNMENT TECHNICIAN AND THE CHEVROLET DEALER SERVICE PERSON TOLD ME THAT THE REASON THE TIE ROD ENDS WERE WORN OUT WAS THAT THEY CONTAINED NO GREASE FITTINGS AND FURTHER THAT THE ONES CHEVROLET FINALLY REPLACED THE WORN OUT ONES THEY DO NOT HAVE GREASE FITTINGS. THIS CAR IS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPLA. I STILL AM GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE WHAT WAS THE FRONT TIRE(S) BEFORE THIS DISCOVER DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. FURTHER,I AM EXPECTING TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE CURRENT NEW ONES WHICH HAVE NO GREASE FITTINGS WITHIN 30,000 OR AGAIN RISK MY SAFETY AND EXCESSIVE AND UNNECESSARY TIRE WEAR. I AM TOLD BY SERVICE PEOPLE AND TECHNICIANS THAT I CAN PURCHASE AFTERMARKET (NON-GENERAL MOTORS TIE ROD ENDS) THAT WOULD HAVE GREASE FITTINGS. THIS LACK OF GREASE FITTINGS IS OBVIOUSLY A VERY SERIOUS MANUFACTURING DEFECT, THAT ENDANGERS THE LIVES OF HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF CHEVROLET IMPALA OWNERS AND THEIR PASSENGERS AND OTHERS ON THE ROADS. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS WHAT APPEARS TO ME TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *TR
BROUGHT TO A DEALER THAT ADVISED THE FRONT SEAL WAS LEAKING THEY REPAIRED IT AND GAVE THE VEHICLE BACK. THEN THE REAR DEFROSTER STOPPED WORKING AND SHE STILL SMELLED THE BURNING. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED AND THAT THEY WERE SURPRISED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT CATCH FIRE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WIRING AND SHE STILL EXPERIENCED THE BURNING SMELL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED ON HOW TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT DOES NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM IS FOUND. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22000. VS
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA LT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE IGNITION ON BUT IT WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY HAD BEEN REPLACED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
I AM A POLICE OFFICER AND HAVE HAD SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE ON TRAFFIC STOPS, THAT MY ASSIGNED 2006 IMPALA HAS ROLLED BACKWARDS AFTER I HAD GOTTEN OUT OF THE CAR TO APPROACH A TRAFFIC VIOLATOR; I HAD TO JUMP BACK IN AND PUT IT BACK IN PARK.. ON 10/ 04/07 THIS CAR ALMOST COST ME MY LIFE. I BLOCKED AN ENTRANCE RAMP AND WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR I STOOD BY THE OPEN DRIVER DOOR. THE CAR JUMPED INTO GEAR AND BACKED OVER ME. I WAS DRUG BACKWARDS AND COULD NOT FREE MYSELFAS I WAS BEING HELPLESSLY DRAGGED UNDER MY CAR. WHEN THE CAR WENT INTO THE MEDIAN IT DUG MY BODY INTO THE DIRT. I WAS ABLE TO ROLL FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. I THEN JUMPED BACK IN AND STOPPED THE CAR FROM CROSSING THE EXPRESSWAY. I HAVE BEEN ON THE STREETS AS A BEAT OFFICER FOR OVER 21 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN. I SPOKE WITH ANOTHER OFFICER AND HE ALSO HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WHILE ON TRAFFIC STOPS. I WAS ADVISED BY FLEET MANAGEMENT THAT THERE HAS BEEN ONE OTHER INCIDENT REPORTED. MY PATROL CAR WAS TOWED ON OCT 8 AND LATER I WAS ADVISED BY FLEET MANAGEMENT THAT GM REPS LOOKED AT THE CAR AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. FLEET MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL REFUSE TO GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION AS FOR A CONTACT PERSON WITH GM. NOTE -AS OF 10/19/07 THEY STILL HAVE THE CAR UNDER LOCK AND KEY. I SUSTAINED ROAD RASH, BRUISING, CERVICAL STRAIN, AND A POSSIBLE FRACTURE IN MY BACK. I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE PRESIDENT AND HE HAS BEEN GATHERING INFORMATION AS TO SEVERAL OTHER OFFICERS THAT HAVE HAD THEIR ASSIGNED 2006 IMPALA GO OUT OF GEAR AND STRIKE OBJECTS. IN ADDITION THEY HAD BEEN CHARGED WITH THE ACCIDENTS AND POINTS ASSESSED. PER MY FOP PRESIDENT AN INVESTIGATION IS BEING DONE TO REMOVE THOSE OFFICERS POINTS AND DICIPLINARY ACTION PER MY UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT. MY CONCERN NOW IS FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CITIZENS ON A NATIONAL LEVEL, WHILE THESE CHEVY IMPALAS ARE BEING USED FOR PUBLIC SAFETY. *TR
2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA HAD AN EQUIPMENT FAILURE WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. *KB ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT, IT APPEARED THE RIGHT REAR TIRE HAD BLOWN WHICH CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. (OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT)*JB
FILED PREVIOUS COMPLAINT, #10202892. THIS WAS IN REFERENCE TO MY SEAT BELT RETRACTOR NOT LOCKING ON MY 2006 IMPALA. THE NEW RETRACTOR THE DEALER PUT IN MY VEHICLE, ALSO DOES NOT LOCK. I HAVE ALREADY HIT THE STEERING WHEEL ONCE, DO I HAVE TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED. CALLED CHEVY AGAIN AND THEY STATED THEY WERE SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. THEY STATED TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND HAVE YET ANOTHER ONE PUT IN. *JB
OWN 2006 CHEVY IMPALA, NOTICED SINCE BEGAN LEASE WITH VEHICLE THAT SEATBELT DOESN'T ALWAYS LOCK. DRIVING ON 9/12/07, HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO AVOID A VEHICLE RUNNING A RED LIGHT, I FLEW FORWARD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL BECAUSE THE SEAT BELT WAS NOT TIGHT AND LOCKED. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE AND REPLACED THE SEAT BELT PARTS. *TR UPDATED 09/17/07. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OUTER TIE ROD END WAS DEFECTIVE ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE TIRES. WHILE DRIVING 55-60 MPH, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE FLUTTERED AND SHOOK WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TIE RODS AND THERE HAD BEEN NO FURTHER OCCURRENCES. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHENEVER THE CONTACT DROVE OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, HE HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CONTACT DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCES BEFOREHAND. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,681 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
VEHICLE HAS BOUNCY/SHUDDERY RIDE DRIVING OVER 35MPH. LOOKED AT BY 2 DIFFERENT SHOPS, ONE SAID IT WAS A BAD TIRE AND REPLACED UNDER TIRE WARRANTY, THE OTHER SAID IT WAS SEPARATION OF TREAD (BAD TIRE). ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED WITH BRAND NEW TIRES (OUT OF MY OWN POCKET) AND THE RIDE DID NOT IMPROVE, THEN THE SHOP SAYS THAT IT IS "BUMPS IN THE ROAD" EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A DISTINCT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BUMP IN THE ROAD (FELT FROM FRONT TIRES AND BACK TIRES) AND THE SHUDDER OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION JUMPED FORWARD. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE, BUT THEY CANNOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP TODAY BECAUSE OF THE TIRE MONITOR SYSTEM. THIS IS THE FIFTH TIME THAT IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THIS PROBLEM. AROUND LATE JANUARY I HAD IT IN THE SHOP FOR A RUST SPOT CLOSE TO THE SUN ROOF. ALSO SOMEONE WHO WAS LOOKING AT MY CAR TOLD ME IT HAD SWIRL MARKS ON IT BECAUSE IT APPARENTLY HAD BEEN BUFFED BEFORE I PURCHASED MY 2006 IMPALA SS, IN JUNE OF 2006. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. SHE STATED THAT THE HEADLAMPS ON THE VEHICLE DISENGAGED FROM THE PLASTIC CASING. SHE FELT THAT THE HEADLAMPS WOULD EVENTUALLY CRACK DUE TO BEING EXPOSED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE PART WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO ASSIST. SHE FELT THAT THIS WAS A COMMON DEFECT FOR VEHICLES OF THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL WITH AT LEAST 30,000 MILES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 36,200.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST DUE TO BLOWN HOSE AND COMPLETE LOSS OF FLUID. APPROXIMATELY 65,000 MILES. PAID FOR REPAIR MYSELF. *TR
IN JANUARY 2007 I PURCHASED A 2006 CHEVY IMPALA AND APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS LATER I HAD MY FIRST PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. FIRST PROBLEM: "SERVICE TIRE MONITOR SYSTEM" (7/07) I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SENSORS WERE REPLACED FOR FREE IN TWO OF THE TIRES. I HAVE SINCE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I DID NOT HAVE THIS FIXED AT ALL IN 2008 BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SENSORS. I JUST LET THE MONITOR CONTINUE TO BLINK ON AND OFF. I HAD IT REPLACED IN 4/09 DUE TO OTHER STANDARD REPLACEMENTS. SECOND PROBLEM: HEATING (FOUND PROBLEM 10/07) TO GET HEAT IN THE CAR YOUR FOOT MUST BE ON THE PEDDLE AND THE CAR MUST BE MOVING. THE MOMENT YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE PEDDLE TO PRESS THE BRAKE, THE HEATER GOES OUT AND THE AIR TURNS COLD. THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED IN 4/09, WHEN THE OTHER REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE FIXED. THIRD PROBLEM: ON AND OFF JERKING (9/07) IF YOU ARE AT A STOP LIGHT AND IT TURNS GREEN. YOU PRESS ON THE GAS TANK BUT THE CAR DOES NOT GO ANYWHERE FOR A MOMENT. THEN IT JERKS AND TAKES OFF. IT SEEMS LIKE THERE IS A DELAY IN THE THINKING PROCESS LIKE THE CAR IS NOT AWARE IT SHOULD GO WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS. IN 4/09 I ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM WITH THE DEALERSHIP BUT NOTHING COULD BE FOUND WRONG WITH THE CAR AND OF COURSE IT DID NOT HAPPEN WHEN THEY TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE. *TR
CHILD'S NECK TRAPPED IN WINDOW FRAME ASSEMBLY. FROM DRIVER'S SEAT, UNABLE TO OPERATE WINDOW RELEASE. *TR
I HAD JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR IN JANUARY OF 2007 AND I HAD NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION HAVING ISSUES WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. I FIRST NOTICED THIS ISSUE WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND PULLING THE CAR INTO GEAR (DRIVE) THERE WOULD BE A HESITATION AND A "CLUNK" NOISE. I WAS NOT SURE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AT FIRST SO I WAITED UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND CALLED THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER TO INSPECT IT, AS IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME THERE WAS NO ISSUE. THE TRANSMISSION HAD CONTINUED TO HAVE ISSUES OVER THE PAST 6-7 YEARS. I ALSO HAD THE TRANSMISSION ACT UP WHEN I WOULD BE DRIVING IN TOWN FROM A STOP UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AT A FULL STOP THE CAR WOULD HESITATE TO SHIFT INTO GEAR ALMOST CAUSING MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. MANY TIMES I WOULD NEED TO DOWN SHIFT TO FIRST GEAR AND UP SHIFT IN ORDER TO GET MY VEHICLE GOING. IN THE PAST THREE YEARS I HAVE PERSONALLY ALMOST BEEN IN ABOUT 12 OR MORE POTENTIAL ACCIDENT SITUATIONS BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE. I HAVE READ IN MANY ONLINE FORUMS THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS AND KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CHEVY IMPALA TRANSMISSION. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESEARCHED AND RESOLVED WITH A RECALL CAMPAIGN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH DOWNHILL, THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE DRIVER EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY STEERING THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE BRAKE ROTORS. THE TECHNICIAN RESURFACED THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED PROPERLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,500. CURRENTLY I HAVE 29103 MILES ON IT.I HAD TOOK IT IN SHOP 2 TIMES COMPLAINING ABOUT PROBLEM W/STEERING ,AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL.I KNEW DIFFERENT.NOW THE WARRANTY RAN OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE TIE ROD END WAS COMPLETELY WORN OUT,AND THE DRIVERS SIDE IS BAD ALSO.I'VE CONTACTED CHEVEROLET AND THEY SAID TO TAKE IT TO DEALER AND PAY OF COURSE FOR THEM TO TELL ME A THIRD TIME PROBABLY THAT THIS IS NORMAL.I AM SCARED OF THIS CAR,BUT HAVE NO CHOICE EXCEPT TO DRIVE IT .I BELEIVE THIS CAR SLIP THRU FACTURY INSPECTIONS . AS ALSO ROTORS WAS TURN AT ABOUT 4000 MILES AND AGAIN AT 26000 MILES.

RECALL ON SOMETHING IN THE BRAIN OF THE CAR (IT'S COMPUTER).ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER CAR STARTED LOSING POWER ON THE FREEWAY GOING TWENTY FIVE AND THE RPM'S AS HIGH AS IT COULD GO IN THE RED, THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AFTER MAKING A LOUD NOISE REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION DUE TO AN ?ELECTRICAL? PROBLEM. THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ON MY NEW CAR 1 WEEK LATER CAR WOULD NOT TURN OFF! KEY OUT AND IT WAS STILL RUNNING KILL BATTERY SEVERAL TIMES SPEAKERS ARE NOT PROPERLY WORKING ALONG WITH THE FACTORY ALARM 2 MONTHS LATER THE CAR DID IT AGAIN I CAN'T EVEN GET THE CAR TO LOCK PERIOD, EVERY TIME I MANUALLY LOCK THE DOORS, THEY AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK I'M DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND IT TOTALLY JUST OVER HEATS AND CUTS OF IN ALL OF FIVE SECONDS WITH A BIG CITY BUS DIRECTLY BEHIND ME. THIS STARTS JULY 3RD, 2008 THE CAR WILL NOT CUT OFF, NOT EVEN WHEN MY HUSBAND PULLED ITS FUSE, PERIOD, IT JUST KEPT RUNNING TILL THE BATTERY DIED AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. JULY 11TH, 2008 THEY HAD TO TOW IT BACK BECAUSE THE CAR OVERHEATED, THEN WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND THE ENGINE STATED IT HAD LOW POWER, WHAT EVER THAT MEANS...GRRRRHHHH!!! LEASED 2006 IMPALA LT 3/06. 2/07-FIRST THING THAT HAPPENED WAS POWER STEERING LINE BLEW WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH. HAD TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS FIXED. THEY LEFT ALL THE FLUID ALL OVER ENGINE AND BRAKES. SHORTLY AFTER, EXPERIENCED CLANKING NOISE FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE. TOOK TO DEALER FIRST TIME, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, COULD BE LEFT OVER POWER STEERING FLUID FROM THE BLOWOUT, CAUSING NOISE ON MOVING PARTS. ALSO NOTICED TIRES WERE WEARING. GOT OIL CHANGE AND 3RD TIRE ROTATION FOR VEHICLE. TIRES STILL WEARING IN FRONT AND NOISE BECOMING MORE PROMINENT IN FRONT. TOOK BACK TO DEALER, SAID IT WAS A TRANS AXLE PROBLEM, AND WAS ALSO CAUSING AN ALIGNMENT PROBLEM. THEY CORRECTED THE TRANS AXLE PROBLEM UNDER WARRANTY, BUT SAID THE ALIGNMENT AND EXCESSIVE WEAR ON TIRES WAS MY PROBLEM. THIS DIDN'T SEEM RIGHT, A PROBLEM ON THE VEHICLE CAUSED ANOTHER PROBLEM, BUT IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY. THEY SAID THEY ALIGNMENT WAS OK NOW. I ASKED IF THEY CHECKED AND THEY SAID NO, IT WOULD BE OKAY SINCE THE TRANS AXLE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. THEY SAID I COULD COMPLAIN, THEY JUST FOLLOW THE RULES FROM UP ABOVE. *AK
2006 CHEVY IMPALA SS HAS HAD SEVERAL MECHANICAL ISSUES MOST RECENTLY FLAT TIRES. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS A FRONT RIGHT TIRE LOOSING AIR SLOWLY. TODAY THE FRONT LEFT TIRE WENT FLAT SUDDENLY AND ON THE INTERSTATE. THE DAMAGED SECTION OF TIRE WAS ON THE INSIDE AND APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN PUNCTURED BY ANOTHER PIECE OF THE SUSPENSION. THE DEALER SHIP INSISTS THAT I NEED TO PAY FOR REPAIRS EVERYTIME. THE CAR IS AN UNBELIEVABLE INCONVENIENCE. *JB
THE 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA HAD A TECHNICAL BULLETIN ON A POWER STEERING HOSE I WAS NEVER NOTIFED OFF. THE HOSE EXPLODED, AND THE CAR COULD NOT MOVE. IT WAS TOWED TO THE 1ST DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED, BUT IT WOULD NOT STEER OUT OF THE BAY. THEY FLUSHED THE POWER STEERING UNIT, AND WITH DAYS IT WOULD NOT STEER PROPERLY. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, WHICH AFTER TWO VISITS, DETERMINED IT NEEDED A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP. THEN THE ACCELERATOR STUCK TO THE FLOOR WHILE TURNING. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND A NEW ACCELRATOR WAS INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME AGAIN AND ATHE STEERING WENT OUT, THIS TIME, I NEARLY HIT A TELEPHONE POLE WHILE TURNING. THE DEALERSHIP TOOK THE CAR IN AND REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION. THE CAR AGAIN DID NOT STEER PROPERLY, AND I NEARLY HIT A PHONE POLE ON THE WAY HOME. AT ONE POINT THE SECOND DEALERSHIP PUT OVER 200 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. GM SAID THE CARWAS. IN OPERATING ORDER . T HAD LESS THAN 17,000 MILES ON IT, AND DEMANDED I PICK UP THE VEHI OR BE CHARGED STORAGE FEES. I HAVE NEARLY WRECKED THE CAR DUE TO MECHANICAL DEFECTS ON THREE SEPERATE OCCASIONS. *AK

A REPAIR WAS MADE, BUT THE NOISE STILL PERSISTS. SHE NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOOSE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE RACK AND PINION WERE REPLACED IN THE STEERING COLUMN. RECENTLY, THE WATER PUMP BEGAN OVERHEATING AND HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,174.
THE PARKING BRAKE WILL NOT HOLD. WE HAD IT SERVICED BY CHEVROLET TWO TIMES AND WITHIN A COUPLE OF MONTHS THE BRAKE STOPPED HOLDING AGAIN. *TR

LT RE HER 2006 CHEVY IMPALA LT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH A VIBRATION AND THE CAR JUMPING ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS LEADING TO REPLACEMENT OF TIRES; WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF NHTSA KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH TIRES. *KB THE TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER BRAND OF TIRES, BECAUSE ONE OF THE TIRES HAD EXCESSIVE ROAD FORCE. MY COMPLAINT PROBABLY DOES NOT WARRANT A RECALL, BUT SHOULD BE HANDLED BY CONSUMER NOTIFICATION. MY 2006 CHEVY IMPALA HAS DEVELOPED A FUEL RELATED PROBLEM THAT CAUSES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ACTIVATE. THIS IS CAUSED BY THE USE OF E-85 FUEL. THE COMPUTER DETECTS HIGH ALCOHOL CONTENT IN THE FUEL. THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM WITH BOTH A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND BY FLUSHING OUT THE E-85 FROM THE FUEL SYSTEM AND RESETTING THE COMPUTER. THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM WAS LACK OF PROPER INSTRUCTION, FROM THE DEALER, IN THE USE OF E-85. I HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED THAT AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK WITH E-85, THE VEHICLE MUST BE DRIVEN A MINIMUM OF 11 MILES, BEFORE SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. THIS GIVES THE SENSOR IN THE FUEL SYSTEM SUFFICIENT TIME TO ADJUST TO THE FUEL. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS SWITCHED FROM CONVENTIONAL E-10 GAS, TO E-85. I WAS UNAWARE OF THIS PROCEDURE, UNTIL AFTER THE PROBLEM HAD OCCURRED. GM SHOULD NOTIFY ALL CONSUMERS WHO HAVE PURCHASED 2006 AND 2007 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH FLEX-FUEL ENGINES OF THIS REQUIREMENT. AFTER THE PROBLEM OCCURS, THE DEALER NEEDS TO PERFORM THE RESET PROCEDURE FOR THE FUEL COMPUTER. THIS PROCEDURE REQUIRES APPROXIMATELY THREE HOURS. IT IS NOT A SERIOUS DEFECT, BUT IT IS UNNECESSARY. THE DEALERS SHOULD INFORM CUSTOMERS, WHEN THE VEHICLES ARE DELIVERED, OF THIS PROCEDURE. *JB

THE IGNITION SWITCH WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO TAKE THE KEY OUT. IT IS STILL IN THE ON POSITION. THE WINDOWS WILL NOT GO UP. THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON.THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON.THE SERVICE TIREMONITOR SYSTEM LIGHT IS ON AND I JUST TOOK IT TO THE SHOP LAST WEEK FOR THE FOURTH TIME FOR THESE SAME PROBLEMS.WE'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR 5 MONTHS AND THIS COINTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM.

IN ORDER FOR THE KEYLESS ENTRY TO FUNCTION CORRECTLY, CONTACT HAS TO BE DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAS TAKEN HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 5 TIMES AND HE CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES WITH HIS VEHICLE. CONTACT CURRENTLY HAS THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNTIL FURTHER THE MANUFACTURE PROVIDES INFORMATION ON HOW TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAS COPIES OF THE INVOICES IF NEEDED.

THE RIMS HAVE BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES . THE FOURTH REPLACEMENT COST OVER $300.00. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED. SHE WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE RIMS. AT 9000 MI. A LOUD WHINNYING NOISE IN THE ENGINE OCCURRED. DEALER DISCOVERED THE STEERING FLUID WAS LOW DUE TO A LOWER HOSE LEAKING AT A CLAMP. THE CLAMP WAS REPLACED AND AFTER A SHORT WHILE (ABOUT 25 MI.) THE PUMP NOISE SUBSIDED. MAYBE THIS WILL REQUIRE A RECALL DUE TO A NHSTA REPORT OF A BLOWN HOSE. *JB
