COOLANT CROSSOVER PIPE GASKETS ROTTED AWAY AND HEAT QUIT WORKING LEAVING MY WIFE AND KIDS TO FREEZE IN THE WINTER.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 CHEVY IMPALA IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AT 25 MPH, AND WHEN I WAS GETTING READY TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE BADLY WITH THE CODE "ENGINE LOSING POWER." LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF. BEING 68 YEARS OLD, I GOT EXTREMELY SCARED. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TRIED CALLING 2 OF MY CHILDREN TO HELP ME. NOT BEING ABLE TO GET EITHER ONE OF THEM. I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, AND PROCEEDED BACK HOME WHICH WAS ONLY ABOUT A HALF MILE FROM MY HOUSE. I CALLED THE PREVIOUS OWNER, AND SHE STATED THAT HAD HAPPENED TO HER ABOUT 6 MONTHS PRIOR. NOW I AM TERRIFIED TO TAKE IT OUT ON THE MAIN HIGHWAY. THE CAR ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT AND HAD BEEN GARAGED KEPT. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME REGARDING WHY THIS MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND ALLOWED IT TO COOL DOWN. AFTER, APPROXIMATELY 5 TO 10 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND OPERATED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING COOLANT AND OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
I JUST RECENTLY HAD THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED NOTIFICATION COME UP ON MY CAR AND POWER REDUCED A GOOD AMOUNT. I GOT HOME AS SOON AS I COULD AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. DIDN'T COME ON THE NEXT DAY BUT WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN, 25-45 MPH, I COULD FEEL A LITTLE OF A PULL TIME TO TIME, SAW THAT THE RPM NEEDLE WOULD JUMP TIME TO TIME. I HAVE ALSO DRIVEN IT ON THE INTERSTATE AND IT IS JUST THE SAME THING.

WHILE STARTING MY CAR THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THERE WAS ALSO A MESSAGE STATING ENGINE REDUCED POWER. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAD THIS HAPPEN. PREVIOUSLY I HAD THIS OCCUR AND I TOOK MY CAR TO GET SERVICED. THE MECHANIC AT THE REPAIR SHOP TESTED FOR CODES AND IT STATED THE THROTTLE BODY. I HAD THAT REPLACED ON TO TURN AROUND AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM TWO DAYS LATER. I RECENTLY SEARCHED THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND NOTICED I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE. I CALLED GM AND THE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT UNFORTUNATELY THERE WASN'T A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. I TRAVEL A LOT ON THE FREEWAY AND I WOULD HATE FOR THE CAR TO STOP WHILE DRIVING WITH MYSELF AND CHILDREN INSIDE. THIS VEHICLE COMPLAINT REALLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.
I WAS DRIVING AT 20 MPH SLOWING TO TURN INTO MY PARKING LOT AT WORK AND SUDDENLY THE CAR JOLTED AND THE POWER DECREASED TO MAYBE HALF. THE CAR NEVER COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A PARKING SPOT AT WORK WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THERE WAS NO POWER LEFT AT ALL. ALL I COULD DO WAS COAST, THE CAR STILL NEVER COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THIS WAS EXTREMELY SCAREY, I JUST THANK GOD MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS NOT WITH ME AT THE TIME!!

2007 CHEVY IMPALA WILL HAVE THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. THE WARNING "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" WILL COME ON, ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. YOU CANNOT ACCELERATE, THE CAR SHAKES, AND IS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. HAD THE GAS PEDAL AND THE EQUIVALENT PART IN THE ENGINE REPLACED (AT DIFFERENT TIMES) AND HAD THE CODES COME UP IN BETWEEN THE PARTS BEING REPLACED AND STILL NOW. TOOK IT INTO A CHEVY DEALER AND IT DOESN'T ACT UP FOR THEM. AND FOR WHATEVER REASON THEIR COMPUTER DOESN'T SHOW ANY PROBLEMS. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON DIFFERENT WEBSITES. I CALLED GM AND HAVE A CASE OPENED TO GET HELP FROM THEM. IT'S EXTREMELY SCARY TO HAVE THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED WHILE DRIVING AND IT'S VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU CAN'T MANEUVER OR ACCELERATE. *TR
WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL CAME UP ON THE DASH DISPLAY. POWER WAS CUT, LEFT HER DRIVING AT AROUND 40MPH I DROVE IT TODAY, JULY 1,2014, IT DID FINE FOR ABOUT THE FIRST MILE THEN SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, REDUCED ENGINE POWER DISPLAY CAME ON AGAIN. I DROVE IT 4 TIMES TODAY, SEEMS THAT IF THE CAR SIT FOR A FEW HOURS, IT RAN FINE, FULL POWER, NO ISSUES FOR ABOUT THE FIRST MILE TO MILE AND A HALF THEN IT WOULD COME UP WITH THE SERVICE TCS AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER WHICH LEAVES YOU AT VERY REDUCED SPEEDS. LUCKILY I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY SO TRAFFIC WASN'T A HUGE ISSUE. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURANCE WITH MANY YR MODEL IMPALAS SO I WANTED TO REPORT MINE SO IT WOULD BE ON RECORD AS WELL. 2007 IMPALA LT2 WITH 3.9L ENGINE. THANKS. *TR

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND A MESSAGE POPPED-UP "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MY SPEED WAS QUICKLY REDUCED FROM 45 MPH TO 20 MPH. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER LUCKILY I WAS NOT HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON IN THE VEHICLE. I HAD THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED AND WAS TOLD THE THROTTLE SENSOR NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT GM NEED TO ADDRESS. NUMEROUS OF IMPALA OWNERS HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS, BUT HAVE BEEN IGNORED. I FEEL AS THOUGH GM SHOULD RECALL THE VEHICLES AND FIX THE DEFECTS... THIS IS PUTTING ME, MY CHILDREN, AND MANY OTHERS AT RISK.
