I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ENGINEERING DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OF THE BRAKES THAT CAUSES PREMATURE WEAR OF THE ROTORS, WHICH COULD LEAD TO BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE. THIS PROBLEM IS WELL DOCUMENTED BY CUSTOMERS, SERVICE FACILITIES AND GM DEALERS. GM GOES OUT OF ITS WAY TO DISCOURAGE RELEVANT DISCUSSION OF THIS PROBLEM, CHOOSING INSTEAD TO IGNORE IT. IN THREE YEARS, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY ROTORS 5 TIMES WITH 87,000 MILES ON THE CAR. IT IS EXPENSIVE AND HIGHLY UNUSUAL FOR ROTORS TO WEAR OUT SO QUICKLY. EVERY MECHANIC/TECHNICIAN I HAVE SPOKEN WITH SAYS THE EXACT SAME THING: THE ROTORS ARE ENGINEERED EXTREMELY THIN DUE TO THE CALIPER DESIGN. IN ORDER TO FIT THE ROTOR IN PLACE - IT MUST BE SO THIN DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM THAT TO BEGIN WITH IT IS BARELY WITHIN SAFETY SPECIFICATIONS. IF NOT EXTREMELY VIGILIANT, ROTORS CAN WARP QUICKLY - CAUSING A CASCADING EFFECT THAT IS ALSO WELL DOCUMENTED. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THIS SITUATION NEEDS CAREFUL SCRUTINY. GM NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND DEVELOP A REMEDY FOR THIS SITUATION. *AK
THE TURN SIGNAL AND THE HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. NHTSA RECALL 03V327000 WAS ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM. DEALER STATED THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN MARCH 2000. *AK WHEN THE SWITCH WAS TURNED ON A BUZZING NOISE STARTED AND HE LIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK. *SC *JB
INDEPENDENT SHOP REPLACED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AT OWNER EXPENSE OF $800. DOLLARS AND HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER. DEALER NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *PH
VEHICLE DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE LEFT TURNS. *LA THE CONSUMER STATED THE STEERING VIRTUALLY LOCKED UP. THE CONSUMER STATED HIS VEHICLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS STATED IN THE RECALL FOR PREVIOUS MODELS REGARDING THE STEERING RACK AND PINION. (RECALL#03V527000). *JB
INTAKE MANIFOLD BEGAN LEAKING AT 45000 MILES (500 DOLLARS TO REPLACE), HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKES AND ROTORS 4 TIMES IN 65,000 MILES. THE TURN SIGNALS QUIT WORKING. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE ENGINE JUST DIES. IF I LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE IT WILL CRANK BACK UP. ASE MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS THE IGNITION MODULE, SO I PAID TO HAVE IT REPLACED AND THAT DID NOT FIX IT. I HAVE BEEN REVIEWING FORUMS ON-LINE AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD AND SEVERE PROBLEM, I UNDERSTAND NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON A VEHICLE BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE FAN SWITCH HAS QUIT WORKING ON POSITONS (SPEEDS) 1 AND 2...THAT HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR HAD ABOUT 37,000 MILES ON (NOT UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY) ....I ONCE WAS A DIE HARD CHEVY MAN..THANKS TO THIS CAR I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER GM PRODUCT. *AK
LEAKING COOLANT FROM AROUND ENGINE BLOCK. DEALER DIAGNOSIS: LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET LEAK. MILEAGE 30,000. PREVIOUS REPAIR COMPLETED ON WATER PUMP FOR BAD BEARINGS AT 28,800 MILES. MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR A DEFECTIVE COMPONENT USED IN THE BUILDING OF THESE MOTORS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 80 MPH VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. CONSUMER HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR ANALYSIS, BUT DEALER COULD NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
MY 2000 CHEVROLET MALIBU (36,000 MILES) RECENTLY STALLED 4 TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY. ON FRIDAY 10/7 I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY TURNED OFF. I COASTED TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER. IN ABOUT 5 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO CUT THE CAR BACK ON. AT WHICH TIME IT RESUMED DRIVING NORMALLY FOR ABOUT 10 MILES. THEN IT STALLED AGAIN. I TOWED THE CAR INTO TOWN AND DROVE IT TO A REPAIR SHOP. (YES, THE CAR DROVE NORMALLY AROUND TOWN). THE REPAIR SHOP TESTED IT AND WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. WHEN I PICKED THE CAR UP I DROVE ABOUT 40 MILES (AGAIN AT GREATER THAN 75 MPH) AND THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. IT STARTED BACK UP IN 2-3 MINUTES. THEN 30 MILES LATER STALLED AGAIN. THIS TIME ON A PART OF THE HIGHWAY WHERE THERE WAS NO SHOULDER! I COASTED THE CAR UNTIL THE SHOULDER REAPPEARED, PULLED ON TO IT AND RE-STARTED THE CAR. THE CAR DOES NOT SHOW ANY SYMPTOMS OF THE PROBLEM IN MY DAY-TO-DAY DRIVING AROUND TOWN. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT SUITABLE TO DRIVE FOR LONG DISTANCES OR AT HIGH SPEEDS DUE TO THIS CONDITION. *LA
I PUCHASED THIS CAR WITH 20000 MILES ON IT. I HAD IT FOR A LITTLE OVER 5 MONTHS AND I AM REPLACING A FUEL PUMP THAT WILL COST $650. THE POWER STEERING HAS CORROSION, SO THE POWER STEERING HAS TO BE FLUSHED. REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL FILTER, A CRACKED FAN BELT, AND THROTTLE BODY SERVICE. I HAVE THE GM EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT IT ONLY COVERS THE COST TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. EVERYTHING ELSE IS OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES BECAUSE IT IS CONSIDERED "REGULAR MAINTENANCE". THE BRAKES ALSO GRIND AND SEEM TO TAKE TOO LONG FOR THE CAR TO STOP. SO I THINK BRAKES AREN'T FAR BEHIND TO BE REPLACED. I AM HOPING I WILL NOT NEED ROTORS TOO. I HAVE READ SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE BRAKES ON THE 2000 CHEVY MALIBU. I TRY TO BUY AMERICAN BECAUSE I AM A PROUD ONE. BUT THE QUALITY SEEM TO BE SUBSTANDARD COMPARED TO JAPANESE CARS. MY NEXT CAR WILL BE FOREIGN. US CAR MAKERS NEED TO "STEP IT UP", AS FAR AS QUALITY WITH THESE CARS.*AK
WHILE BRAKING THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE DUE TO THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WEARING. ALSO THERE WAS A VIBRATION WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. *AK THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THE CONSUMER THEY WOULD REPLACE THE ROTORS WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST PURCHASED, BUT THEY NEVER DID. *CB *JB
INTERMITTENTLY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED, THE BRAKES GRABBED SO HARD THAT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE VIBRATED SEVERELY. WHEN THIS OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP IMMEDIATELY. THIS RESULTED IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE BRAKE ROTORS WARPED. ON ONE OCCASION THIS FAILURE CAUSED LOST OF CONTROL, IN WHICH THE CONSUMER ALMOST CRASHED INTO AN 18 WHEELER, BUT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE MEDIUM. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM, BUT WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, AND WAS NOW REFUSING TO WORK ON THE VEHICLE. *AK THERE WAS A RATTLE UNDER THE HOOD AT THE FIREWALL AREA WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, THE HOSE ASSEMBLY WAS FOUND RUBBING UNDER THE VEHICLE, BOTH FRONT ROTORS HAD WORE THIN, THE FUEL PUMP SENDER DID NOT HOLD THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL PRESSURE, THERE WAS AN OPEN CIRCUIT IN THE 24X CRANK SENSOR, THERE WAS A RATTLE IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION DUE TO WEAK FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS WHICH WERE NOISY (THE RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS REPLACED), THE COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR SHORTED, THE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY LEAKED COOLANT, THERE WAS A VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, HARDWARE WAS BAD AND WAS LOOSE IN THE CALIPER, ROTOR PULSATION WHICH WAS REPLACED PER BULLETIN, THE TURN SIGNAL WAS INOPERATIVE, AND THE A/C HAD INTERNAL DAMAGE AND WOULD CUT ON AND OFF. *SC
FRONT BRAKES (ROTORS) REPLACE AT 22,000MILES THE BRAKE PADS OUT LASTED THE ROTORS - THAT CAN'T HAPPEN ??? IT SEEMS THEY(GM) HAVE SOME TYPE OF DESIGN PROBLEM. *AK
THE CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT BRAKE PROBLEMS. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, THERE WAS EXTENSIVE PULSATION, AND EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. *AK THE ABS LIGHT WAS ON AND WAS INTERMITTENT. THIS MADE THE STOPPING DISTANCE LONGER ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS. *SC
FAILURE OF BLINKERS. SUDDENLY WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, I TURNED ON MY TURN SIGNAL AND IT WOULD NOT WORK. IT IS STILL NOT WORKING. ALL IT DOES IS PRODUCE A HIGH PITCHED BUZZ INSIDE OF MY AUTOMOBILE. LUCKILY I LIVE IN A LOW TRAFFIC AREA AND WAS NOT STRUCK. *LA

COOLANT LOSS CAUSING VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT. CAR TOWED TO GARAGE. HAD TO REMOVE AND REPLACE INTATKE MANIFOLD GASKET, REPLACE THERMOSTAT, AND REVERSE FLUSH COOLING SYSTEM. TOTAL COST $664.31 WAS ADVISED TO FILE COMPLAINT AS GARAGE HAS HAD AN AVERAGE OF ONE REPAIR LIKE THIS A MONTH ON MAILBUS AND IMPALAS. *LA
MY 2000 CHEVROLET MALIBU HAS ONLY 77,749 MILES ON IT. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND PURCHASED THE CAR NEW. SINCE THE PURCHASE I HAVE REPLACED ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS 4 TIMES. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY ABSURD. THERE MUST BE SOME KIND OF A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE FOR A PERSON TO HAVE TO REPLACE ROTORS AND PADS 4 TIMES WITHIN THE AMOUNT OF MILEAGE I HAVE PLACED ON MY CAR. NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I HAD TO DO THIS ON ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE OWNED. I HAVE ALL THE PAPERWORK WHERE THESE ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. 3 TIMES AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THE 4TH TIME AT A PRIVATE AUTO REPAIR SHOP. I WASN'T SURE IF THE DEALERSHIP WAS DOING THEIR JOB CORRECTLY BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF TIMES I HAVE THIS DONE I DECIDED TO GO TO A PRIVATE AUTO REPAIR SHOP. *LA

TURN SIGNALS ARE INOPERATIVE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE NOT TO HAVE APPROPRIATE TURNING OR CHANGING LANE FUNCTIONS. TURN SIGNALS MAKE OTHER DRIVERS AWARE OF CONSUMER'S DIRECTION.*AK AFTER HAVING THE REPAIR DONE FOR A TOTAL OF $137.88 TWO WEEKS LATER A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE MALIBU, THE DEALER CHECKED THE CONSUMERS VIN AND FOUND THAT IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. SO THEY REFUSED TO REIMBURSE THE CONSUMERS REPAIR BILL. *CB *JB
RECURRING PROBLEM WITH A "THEFT SYSTEM" ERROR. IN COLD WEATHER, THE THEFT SYSTEM DISABLES THE VEHICLE FOR 10 MINUTES, THEN MAYBE WILL ALLOW CAR TO START. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON AUTO FORUMS REGARDING THIS EXACT ISSUE. EACH YEAR FOR THE LAST 4 WE HAVE ISSUES WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING. THIS IS RELATED TO A "PASS LOCK" SYSTEM IN THIS VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE AN ALARM, NOT REMOTE STARTER. *TR

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH REAR RIGHT TIRE HAD BLOWN. MANAGED TO PULL VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF ROAD, STOPPED, AND CHECKED TIRES OUT. NOTICED RIGHT REAR TIRE HAD SEPARATED IN THREE DIFFERENT PIECES. CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. HAD NOT BEEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. SIZE 215/60R15.
FUEL GAUGE WILL NOT REGISTER A HALF TANK OR LESS. VEHICLE HAS TO HAVE A FULL FUEL TANK. ALSO, WITHOUT WARNING OR CAUSE VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN, AND WILL NOT RESTART. DEALERSHIP MECHANIC WAS BAFFLED BECAUSE HE COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK

2000 MALIBU HAS DIED 7 TIMES WHILE DRIVING DEALER HAS REPLACED FUEL FILTER AND PUMP,RADAR CAP ,IGNITION MODULAR, IGNITION SWITCH,MAIN COMPUTER AND IT STILL DYING. I HAVE JUST LOOK AT ALL THE COMPLAINT THAT PEOPLE HAVE AND CHEVROLET TELLS ME THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THEM.I WILL NEVER BUY OTHER ONE. *LA

CONSUMER STATED THAT BRAKE LINE INDICATOR LIGHT DID NOT COME ON TO INFORM HER THAT SHE NEEDED BRAKES OR THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. SHE WOULD HEAR A FUNNY NOISE SOMETIMES. THEN, SHE TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE SHE PURCHASED VEHICLE, AND AFTER EXAMINING THE VEHICLE, WAS TOLD SHE NEEDED BRAKES, AND THAT THE CALIPERS ON DRIVER'S SIDE WERE GOING OUT. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE HER $140.00 TO TURN ROTORS, AND PUT BRAKES ON THE VEHICLE. SHE HAS HAD THE VEHICLE ONLY ONE MONTH. ALSO, CONSUME RGOT STRANDED, AND HAD VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. DEALE RFOUND THAT THE BATTERY POST WAS CORRODED, SHE WAS TOLD THAT VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW BATTERY. *AK
WHILE ENTERING A ON RAMP AT 25-40 MPH CONSUMER COLLIDED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE STALLED AT THE END OF RAMP. SEAT BELTS WERE WORN BY THE CONSUMER, BUT NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO PERSONAL INJURIES, ALTHOUGH THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLES. POLICE DID ARRIVE ON THE SCENE AND NO CITATIONS WERE ISSUED.*AK
FUEL PUMP DEFECT CAUSING VEHICLE TO STOP UNEXPECTEDLY/SUDDNELY. REPAIR SHOP ALSO INDICATED THAT FUEL GAUGE/SENSOR DEFECT CAUSING GAUGE TO INACCURATELY SHOW AMOUNT OF FUEL - GAUGE FAILED TO REGISTER WHEN FUEL IS LOW.*AK
2000 CHEVROLET MALIBU , ENGINE SHUT DOWN AT NORMAL DRIVING SPEED 4 TIMES ALTHOUGH PLENTY OF FUEL IN TANK. *LA
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FOR 8 TIMES IN 2YRS I HAVE HAD IT. *AK
RIGHT FRONT TIRE ON 2000 CHEVROLET MALIBU CAME APART ON OUTER SIDEWALL WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH. INITALLY NO CAUSE COULD BE FOUND. THE TREAD AND INNER SIDEWALL APPEARED TO BE OK. AFTER INSTALLING THE SPACE SAVER SPARE AND DRIVING ABOUT 100 MILES HOME AT 50 MPH THE TIRE AND RIM WERE IMMEDIATELY INSPECTED. THE TIRE WAS SO HOT YOU COULD BARELY HOLD YOUR HAND ON IT. THE RIM WAS HOT ENOUGH TO BURN FINGERS. THE BRAKE ON THAT WHEEL WAS NOT COMPLETELY RELEASING AND WAS CAUSING THE EXTREME HEAT BUILD-UP. THE OUTSIDE ON THE TIRE APPEARS TO HAVE GOTTEN SO HOT THAT IT LITERALLY FELL APART. THE BRAKE PADS ON THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPLACED AT ABOUT 38,00 MILES AND THIS SIDE HAD WORN MORE THAN THE OTHER, BUT NO PROBLEMS COULD BE FOUND TO ACCOUNT FOR THE ABNORMAL WEAR. THE BRAKE ON THIS WHEEL APPEARS TO WORK NORNALLY MOST OF THE TIME AND THEN PERIODICALLY NOT RELEASE COMPLETELY AND CAUSE THE HEAT TO BUILD -UP AND THE ABNORMAL PAD WEAR. THERE WAS NO WARNING FROM THE TIRE OR VEHICLE THAT THIS WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN EXCEPT FOR A SLIGHT HUMMING NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF VEHICLE A COUPLE SECONDS BEFORE FAILURE. I CONSIDER THIS AN EXTREME SAFET HAZZARD BECAUSE IT OCCURS WITH NO WARNING AND THEN IS USUALLY BLAMED ON THE TIRE. EITHER IT WAS DEFECTIVE OR HAD IMPROPER PRESSURE.
AIR CONDITIONER SWITCH TURNS ON AND OFF. VIBRATION IN FRONT END WHEN BRAKING. TURN SIGNALS WORK INTERMITENTLY. TICKING NOISE IN ENGINE UNTIL WARM. WINDOWS FOG EXCESSIVELY. SHAME ON CHEVROLET. *AK
BRAKES PULSE/VIBRATE, ESPECIALLY AFTER STOPPING FROM SPEEDS OF 30+ MPH. DEALER ATTEMPTED 6 TIMES TO FIX WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, INCLUDING TURNING ROTORS, REPLACING ROTORS (AT 2200 MILES), REPLACING HUB ASSEMBLY. ALL EFFORTS HAVE FAILED AND PROBLEM RETURNS IN 3-9 MONTHS. MILEAGE AVERAGES 8000 MILES PER YEAR, AND BRAKES ARE NOT SUDDENLY APPLIED. LATEST ATTEMPT IS TO REPLACE BRAKES (AT 29K000 MILES) AND INSTALL "SHIM KIT."*AK
MAY 02 MY VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR BRAKES AND FRONT END NOISE, THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT HAVE TIME TO CORRECT THE FRONT END PROBLEM (WHICH THEY NOTED WAS COVERED BY MY WARRANTY) AND TO RESCHEDULE FOR THAT PROBLEM. I DID SO IN JULY 02 AND AT THAT TIME, THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE WORK AND TRIED TO BLAME ME FOR THE PROBLEM SO I PAID $281.75 FOR THIS WORK WHICH WAS PREVIOUSLY NOTED THAT WOULD BE COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. MY BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING SEVERAL TIMES: IN OCTOBER 3, 2002, OCTOBER 29, 2002, AND IN DECEMBER 2002. I WAS FORCED TO PAY FOR AT A COST OF $280.52 FOR THE DEC. 2002 PROBLEM. IN MARCH 2003 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN FOR FRONT SUSPENSION NOISE, AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A RIGHT UPPER STRUT MOUNT HAD CALLAPSED. IN MAY 2003 THE VEHICLE HAS AGAIN OVERHEATED AND THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. THE YOUNG MAN THAT I SPOKE WITH WHEN I ARRIVED INDICATED THAT THEY (THE DEALERSHIP) WAS UNSURE AS TO WHY THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING AND TO JUST DRIVE IT BECAUSE HIS TRUCK DOES IT ALL THE TIME ON THE HIGHWAY AND THEY HAD NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE BATTERIES THAT THEY WERE REPLACING KEPT CRACKING AND LEAKING. WHEN I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN REGARDING THE PROBLEM AND MY SAFETY CONCERNS, HE JUST BLEW ME OFF AS IF I WAS JUST COMPLAINING. ONCE AGAIN, IT IS NOW JULY 2003 AND FOR THE 4TH TIME, MY VEHICLE IS OVERHEATING AND OVERHEATING. IN ADDITION ON SERVERAL OCCASIONS I ALSO INDICATED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THAT THERE WAS A VIBRATING AND SHIMBLING WHEN MY BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND IT MAKES IT HARD TO CONTROLL THE VEHICLE, NOT ONCE WOULD THEY ADDRESS THE ISSUE WITH ME NOR HAVE I BEEN NOTIFIED OR ANY DEFECTS OR RECALLS WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM FOR THE 2000 CHEVY MALIBU. I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH MY SAFETY. IN ADDITION, MY TIRES CONTINUOUSLY LOOSE AIR AND THE TREAD IS SEPARATION FROM MY LEFT REAR TIRE.*AK
WE HAVE A 2000 CHEVROLET MALIBU, WE HAVE 28,000 MILES ON THIS CAR AND WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES 2 (TWO) TIMES..ONCE AT 17000 MILES AND NOW AT 28,000 THEY ARE NOT WEARING EVENLY, THE INSIDE BRAKE IS WEARING DOWN BEFORE THE OUTSIDE..I FEEL THIS IS UNSAFE BECAUSE IT IS CLEAR I AM NOT GETTING COMPLETE BRAKE FUNCTION. *AK
I BOUGHT MY CAR ON 7/21/01, IT HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIRS 10/3/01, 7/12/02,12/11/02, 6/23/03 AND 6/24/03. THE PROBLEM IS ELECTRICAL AND THE ENGINE AS WELL. CHEVROLET HAS RUN DIAGNOSTICS MANY TIMES BUT IS NOT ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR GOOD. EVERYTIME I TAKE MY CAR IN, I AM TOLD IT'S NOW SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAT HAS BROKEN. MY CAR WILL BREAK DOWN AND SOMETIMES IF I ALLOW IT TO SIT FOR 10 - 20 MINUTES IT WILL START RIGHT BACK UP. FOR AS MANY TIMES AS MY CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED, IT HAS BROKEN DOWN AT LEAST THREE TIMES BEFORE I TAKE IT IN. MY DISPUTE WITH CHEVY IS MY CAR IS A LEMON. THEY CANNOT DETERMINE WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT BECAUSE DIAGNOSTICS IS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. CHEVY INFORMED ME THAT DOES NOT MEAN THERE ISN'T A PROBLEM IT JUST MEANS THE COMPUTER CANNOT DETECT IT. I HAVE FILED WITH THE BBB AUTO LINE BUT BECAUSE MY CAR HAS MORE THAN 24,000 MILES THEY SAY I AM OUT OF LUCK. CHEVY IS UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEMS I AM HAVING WITH MY CAR. MY DISPUTE IS SHOULD A CAR BREAK DOWN AT LEAST 5-10 TIMES A YEAR?
A/C TURNS OFF OR GOES ON AND OFF (LIGHT FLASHES). DEALER STATES CAUSE AS FAILED CONTROL HEAD. BRAKES HAVE BEEN CHRONIC PULSING THAT CAUSES THE CAR TO SHUDDER, ESP. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES FROM SPEEDS OF 30+ MPH. AT VARIOUS REPAIR ATTEMPTS ROTORS HAVE BEEN TURNED, REPLACED (AT 22K MILES), NEW HUB ASSEMBLY INSTALLED. SIX ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. JUST HAD NEW BRAKES AND SHIM KIT INSTALLED BUT DON'T TRUST THAT THIS WILL FIX PROBLEM BASED ON PAST EXPERIENCE.

I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE AT MAJOR AUTOMOTIVE GROUP AND SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED MY CAR I HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. WHEN I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED TO EXCHANGE THE CAR FOR ANOTHER ONE, I WAS INFORMED THAT I COULD NOT UNTIL MY TITLE WAS RECEIVED. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SINCE JULY 5, 2003 AND STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A TITLE AS OF YET. I HAVE BEEN BACK AND FORTH FOR MANY REPAIRS AND STILL HAVE NOT SEEN ANY DIFFERENCE. THE TURN SIGNALS DON'T WORK SOMETIMES. *AK THE TURN SIGNALS ALSO FAILED IN (DECEMBER 01) WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 36K MILES. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM REMAINED. THE SECOND TIME THE PROBLEM OCCURRED THE DEALER WOULD NOT AGREE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. *SCC *JB
