MY ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILED TO OPERATE WHILE DRIVING SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. ALONG WITH THIS HAPPENING, AN ESC INOPERATIVE LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED ALONG WITH A SERVICE POWER STEERING MESSAGE ON THE INSTRUMENT DISPLAY. VEHICLE STEERING VERY HARD TO OPERATE. HAVE TO TURN CAR OFF AND ON MULTIPLE TIMES TO CLEAR MESSAGE AND FOR SOME REASON THE POWER STEERING RESUMES TO WORK. THIS NOW IS A CONSTANT OCCURRENCE, TO THE POINT THAT I AM UNABLE TO RELY ON THIS VEHICLE FOR SAFE TRAVELS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TURN SIGNAL MALFUNCTIONED AND WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. A MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE GEAR AUTOMATICALLY CHANGED AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, SERVICE TRACTION, AND CHECK ENGINE INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, RESTARTED THE ENGINE, AND THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DOOR LOCKS AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED AND UNLOCKED WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
THE POWER DOOR LOCKS ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE AT RANDOM. WHEN USING THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB OR USING THE BUTTON INSIDE THE CAR, THE PASSENGER AND REAR DOOR LOOKS WILL PARTIALLY DISENGAGE MAKING IT HARD/IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE DOOR WITH OUT MANUALLY PULLING THE LOCK TAB ON THE DOOR. THE ELECTRIC STABILITY CONTROL AND TRACTION CONTROL WILL RANDOM ENGAGE/DISENGAGE OR DISPLAY A SERVICE MESSAGE ON THE CLUSTER SCREEN. THE THIRD BREAK LIGHT ILLUMINATES AT RANDOM, NOT ALWAYS THE BREAK IS APPLIED. THE RADIO WILL DISPLAY RANDOM CHARACTERS WHILE ON OR GO COMPLETELY BLANK.
THE HIGH MOUNT BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT ALWAYS ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS ENGAGED. ON A 1 HOUR COMMUTE, THE BRAKE LIGHT CAN START WORKING, STOP WORKING, AND THEN START WORKING AGAIN. THE VEHICLE APPEARS TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN 14V-252 BUT AS NOT INCLUDED IN GM RECALL 13036 EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL INCLUDED OTHER 2009 CHEVY MALIBUS. I TRIED CALLING THE NUMBER FOR GM LISTED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN BUT WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO UNTIL I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED.
ESC TRACTION ESC POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND CAR BOGS DOWN AND STEERING IS HARD TO CONTROL. TOOK MALIBU TO DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES FOR THE SAME ESC PROBLEM WITH NO RESOLUTION AND THOUSAND SPENT.
CAR MILEAGE IS AT 75,300 AND I AM HEARING A RUBBING/CLUNKING SOUND WHEN EVER I TURN MY STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND MY TURN SIGNAL LEVER STOPPED AUTOMATICALLY RELEASING AFTER I HAVE TURNED WHICH IS NOW ALSO MAKING A WEIRD NOISE. I SEE THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE STEERING IN 2014 BUT I PURCHASED THE FROM A DEALER IN 2015. HOW DO I FIND OUT IF THE DEALER SERVICED THE RECALL???
BRAKE LIGHTS, RADIO, TRUNK OPENER ON DRIVERS DOOR , LEFT TURN SIGNAL, DOORS RANDOMLY LOCK , 3RD BRAKE LIGHT DIM, SOMETIMES DRIVER DOOR WON'T OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE WITH DOOR UNLOCKED , SOMETIMES DRIVERS DOOR WON'T SHUT, 105K MILES ON THIS CAR. THIS IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE VEHICLE I'VE OWNED AND IT'S THE WORST VEHICLE I'VE EVER OWNED. THE DRIVERS DOOR IS STUCK SHUT CURRENTLY.
MY REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCK DISENGAGED FROM THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS AND CAN ONLY BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. (SPRING 2016) MY TRACTION CONTROL IS PERIODICALLY SAYING THAT IT HAS MALFUNCTIONED BUT DOES NOT ALWAYS. WHEN THE LIGHT COMES ON, I FEEL A PULSE AS I'M BRAKING AND SOMETIMES IF IT COMES ON WHILE I'M DRIVING I'LL FEEL A SLIGHT JOLT THROUGH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I ALSO HEAR A CLICK NOISE LIKE THE PEDAL MAY DISENGAGE. (LATE SUMMER 2016) I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S RELATED BUT SINCE MOST THINGS SEEM ELECTRICAL, MY RADIO SOMETIMES WILL NOT TURN OFF AND SEEMS TO DO WHAT IT WANTS DURING TIMES WHEN OTHER THINGS ARE SEEMINGLY MALFUNCTIONING (I.E. IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL ISSUE). ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, I HAVE TAKEN THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, OPENED THE DOOR BUT MY RADIO DOESN'T TURN OFF. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO I NOTICED THE STRONG ODOR OF GAS COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR., BUT SAW NO LEAKS. LAST WEEK I NOTICED A LEAK COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK AND DRIPPING ON TO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. I TOOK THE CAR TO FOLSOM CHEVROLET AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP HOUSING AND ESTIMATED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL PUMP TO BE ABOUT $1,200. HOWEVER, I WENT TO THE CHEVROLET FORUMS ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF IDENTICAL PROBLEMS REPORTED TO GM BY USERS, BUT GM HAS TAKEN NO ACTION TO CORRECT THIS DANGEROUS FIRE HAZARD. THE COMPLAINTS BEGIN IN 2012 WHEN THE CARS WERE ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND CONTINUE TO BE FILED. I CONTACTED GM AND WAS SIMPLY TOLD "THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY". THERE HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED RECALLS FOR OTHER GM VEHICLES WITH THE SAME FUEL PUMP AND PROBLEM AND THIS VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED. PLEASE HAVE THESE VEHICLES RECALLED BEFORE A FAMILY DEPARTS TIS EARTH IN A BALL OF FLAMES BECAUSE OF THE UNCARING ATTITUDE OF GM. FOLSOM CHEVROLET, 916-985-5600, HAS DIAGNOSED MY MY VEHICLE AND CAN PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION AND DETAILS. BUT FOR THIS PROBLEM TO HAVE BEEN REPORTED IN SO MANY VEHICLES OVER SO MANY YEARS AND GM TO HAVE IGNORED IT IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND I BELIEVE ONE THAT ONLY YOUR AGENCY CAN ADDRESS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY EXPERIENCED A DRASTIC LOSS OF POWER. WAS DRIVING AND WAS ABOUT TO MAKE A TURN THE SERVICE ECS CAME ON AND POWER STEERING STARTED GOING ACROSS THE SCREEN. MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON I ALMOST HAD A WRECK
MY POWER STEERING ALL OF THE SUDDEN HAS STARTED NOT WORKING. SOMETIMES IF I TUN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON IT WILL WORK BUT IT ALSO GOES OUT ON ME WHILE I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
I'VE HAD THREE INSTANCES, TWO IN THE SAME DAY, WHILE EITHER STANDING STILL IN PARK IN A PARKING LOT OR IN TRAFFIC ON A CITY STREET AND MY DASHBOARD SAYS SERVICE ESC POWER STEERING AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED. IT BECOMES NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE ONCE THIS HAPPENS AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE IN ACCIDENTS EACH TIME. WHEN I'M FINALLY ABLE TO PULL OVER, I HAVE SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND IT RESETS THE COMPUTER AND OPERATES REGULARLY BUT ON THE LAST OCCASION IT CAME BACK ON TWO MINUTES AFTER THE RESET. I'VE READ THERE ARE RECALLS ON OTHER MODELS BUT NOT ON THE 2009 MALIBU. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS, INJURIES AND EVEN DEATH DEPENDING ON WHEN THE STEERING GOES OUT (SLOW TRAFFIC SPEEDS VS FAST HIGHWAY SPEEDS) BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ANY TYPE OF WARNING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE POWER STEERING, TRACTION CONTROL, AND SERVICE ESC WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT THE DIAGNOSIS WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 194,000.
DRIVING DOWN AN EXPRESSWAY ABOUT 60MPH AND THE POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING, A MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON MY DASH "POWER STEERING SERVICE ESC" THE ABS INDICATOR LIGHT ALSO DISPLAYED AT THE SAME TIME. I HAVE NO POWER STEERING. MY CAR HAS APPROX 125,000 MILES ON IT. I GOOGLED THE ISSUE AND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE FOR 2006-2007 CHEVY MALIBUS SO I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I DO HAVE A RECALL THAT I HAVE NOT HAD FIXED YET FOR THE BRAKE LAMP MALFUNCTION 13036 WHICH DEALER STATED IS UNRELATED ISSUE. I SEE SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE ONLINE ARE REPORTING THIS SAME ISSUE FOR THE 2009 4 CYLINDER CHEVY MALIBU'S. I WOULD HOPE GM WILL RECALL THIS AND TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM.
AFTER MAKING A TURN A VIBRATION STARTED WITHIN A FEW BLOCKS THE CENTER OF THE LEFT REAR WHEEL BROKE OUT AND THE OUTER PART OF THE WHEEL WITH THE TIRE CAME OFF THE CAR AND ROLLED ACROSS THE STREET AND HIT A HOUSE. THE REAR OF THE CAR CAME DOWN GRINDING ON THE ROAD. TRIED TO FIND A USED WHEEL AT LOCAL SALVAGE YARDS BUT WAS TOLD THAT THEY CANT KEEP THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE SELLING THEM THAT FAST. GOOD THING I WASN'T ON THE INTERSTATE GOING TO WORK.

DOOR LOCKS LOCK AND UNLOCK AT RANDOM BUTTONS ON DOORS AND FOB INOPERABLE THIS IS A VERY LARGE SAFETY HAZZARD I HAVE COME OUTSIDE TO FIND MY CAR UNLOCKED IN THE MORNING AFTER LOCKING IT THE NIGHT BEFORE AND HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A NORMAL PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE MEANING IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFEAT THAT SHOULD BE FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURER THE PROBLEM EVEN HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION UNLOCKING AND LOCKING AT RANDOM A CHILD COULD FALL OUT AT ANY SPEED WHEN DOOR UNLOCKS PLUS I COULD COME OUT TO SOMEONE IN MY CAR IN THE MORNING WITH THESE INOPERABLE

WHENEVER THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN, THERE WAS A CLUNKING NOISE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. WHENEVER THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO SHUT OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO REGAIN FULL CONTROL OF THE POWER STEERING. THE CONTACT CALLED THE PALMETTTO CHEVROLET DEALER (122 4TH AVENUE, PO BOX 766, CONWAY, SC 29528; 843-248-4283) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR AND SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ESC INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. A LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE EBCM MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREET TO PICK UP MY DAUGHTER FROM SCHOOL, AND HAS NOT STARTED SINCE. NO TRACTION, SERVICE ESC AND POWER LOSS MESSAGES APPEARED ON THE DASH DISPLAY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE ONBOARD COMPUTERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE AT 5 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED AND THE ESC WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE STEERING STAFF TORQUE SYSTEM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
At the time I bought my Chevy Malibu Hybrid in 2009, I was not aware nor was it made known to me by the dealership or the Sales Rep. that the steering mechanism was electronically controlled and not hydraulic. Had I known that to be the case, I would have reconsidered the purchase. In September of 2015 GM issued a notice informing me and those who were owners of my particular vehicle equipped with electric power assist (EPS): "... the steering column torque sensor or the EPS motor/controller may cause the vehicle to suddenly lose EPS ...The vehicle will revert to a manual steering mode, which requires greater driver effort to operate at low vehicle speeds." GM's resolution: 10 year warranty from date of purchase or 105,000 mile whichever occurs first. About two years after the warranty was issued, I started experiencing an intermittent failure with the steering upon starting on extremely cold mornings though not while driving. Once the car warmed up the steering problem went away. But because it was not continuous and difficult to replicate and thus to diagnose, the dealership as well as GM found that it would be hard for my unique problem to be covered by the warranty. I verbalized my complaint to GM on Oct. 15, 2016. Additionally, I was told by the dealership, if a diagnostic code (ESP) could not be found at the time the vehicle was bought in, a fee of $119.00 for diagnostics would be owed at that time. Note: A total failure of the torque sensor is the only time a code is present therefore I was reluctant to bring the vehicle in. The warranty expired for my vehicle in 2019. Recently, within a year or two, the steering has failed me while driving - twice, intermittently. When failure does occur on a car with this type of steering it is extremely difficult to steer and very dangerous especially at low speeds. Therefore, my plea is for NHTSA to issue a recall, not a limited warranty for this kind of safety issue. The estimated cost to repair: $1,500.
CONTACTED LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL. THEY INFORMED ME IT WAS LREADY DONE,BUT PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. I PURCHASED VEHICLE FROM MY MOTHER AND SHE SAID SHE NEVER HAD THE WORK DONE.. POWER STEERING KEEPS GOING IN AND OUT AND IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED OTHER VEHICLES FLASHING THEIR HEADLIGHTS AND BLOWING THEIR HORNS. THE CONTACT REALIZED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WAS OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND REPAIRED. TWO WEEKS AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AGAIN, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE WEEKS LATER. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE WIRING TO THE DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM HEAD LAMP WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 179,500.
GAS SMELL IN CAR, NEAR REAR OF CAR, AND IN GARAGE. HAVE CHECKED FOR LEAKS HAVE NOT FOUND GAS ON FLOOR BUT SOME DAMPNESS TOP OF TANK AREA OF WHICH I COULD REACH. I HAVE READ THERE'S A CONNECTION THAT BREAKS AT FITTING. I FEEL THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY G.M. WITH A RECALL BEFORE A FIRE OR DEATH .
WHILE DRIVING, BRAKE LIGHTS WILL ILLUMINATE WITHOUT DEPRESSING THEM, AND BRAKE LIGHTS WON'T ILLUMINATE WHILE PRESSED. OPPOSITE OF WHAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE. THIS HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT. SOMETIMES BRAKE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON IN DASHBOARD. ALSO THE ESC LIGHT. HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH CHEVY DEALER TO REPAIR, BUT WAS INFORMED THEY'LL FIX IF NOT FUNCTIONING AT TIME OF APPOINTMENT. IT'S AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM.
AFTER SMELLING GAS FUMES FOR ABOUT A WEEK, I PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY WITH THE GAS TANK CLOSE TO FULL. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND SAW A 4 TO 5 INCH DIAMETER WET GAS STAIN ON THE DRIVEWAY. OVER THE NEXT 3 TO 4 MINUTES I OBSERVED SEVERAL DRIPS OF GASOLINE FROM BELOW THE GAS TANK FALL TO THE DRIVEWAY. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY AND EMISSION PROBLEM. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW AND I PLAN ON BRINGING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED ASAP. I HAVE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM ON LINE AND HOPE THERE WILL BE A RECALL. SOMETIMES EMISSION COMPONENTS ARE COVERED UP TO 100K MILES.
THE WAVE PLATE HAD FRACTURED AT 114,000 MILES ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND MY TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO OVER 30MPH AND WILL NOT GO IN REVERSE. I CANNOT AFFORD A REPAIR OF THIS MAGNITUDE AND EVERYONE I HAVE TALKED WITH SAID THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED WITH THIS MANY MILES. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR LESS THAN 3 YEARS. ALL 4 DOOR LOCKING LATCHES ARE NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY, RIGHT FRONT DOOR WAS LOCKED IN THE LOCK POSITION AND WOULD NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE, EVEN AFTER MANUALLY UNLOCKING THE LOCK OR PULLING THE LOCK LEVER IN THE UNLOCK POSITION. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL INVESTIGATION PERFORMED ON THIS MATER. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK MANUALLY OR AUTOMATICALLY IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE EMERGENCY LEAVING THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. ON 7/11/17 MY RPM'S FLUCTUATED WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT SOUNDED HORRIBLE, IT SOUNDS LIKE IT'S RACING (LIKE A MOTOR CYCLE) WHEN I GO ABOVE 30-40 MPH. A MECHANIC I KNOW SAID MY VIN SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. ACCORDING TO EVERYTHING I HAVE READ THIS ISSUE FALLS THE RECALL.

PREMATURE TIRE FAILURE AT THE BEAD OF THE TIRE. BRIDGESTONE DRIVEGUARD RUN FLAT TIRES. VEHICLE HAS A TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM. TWO DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT WE REPLACED A NON RELATED SENSOR IN THE VEHICLE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR SERVICE A COMPLETE SERVICE CHECK WAS DONE INCLUDING VERIFYING THE PROPER TIRE PRESSURE IN ALL TIRES. THE DAY OF THE EVENT, WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY PULLED TO THE RIGHT. AFTER PULLING OVER IT WAS DISCOVERED THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE HAD RIPPED AT THE EDGE OF THE BEAD. THE HOLE CREATED WAS ABOUT 1 1/2 INCHES LONG. THE TIRE HAVE ABOUT 5000 MILES ON THEM AND ARE RATED FOR 60,000 MILES. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE FAILURE. THE RIMS, TIRES AND CAR HAVE NO SIGNS OF DAMAGE SUCH AS CURB RUB. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THESE TIRES AND BELIEVE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE TO EXPERIENCE THIS TYPE OF DANGEROUS PREMATURE TIRE FAILURE.
ESC WARNING LIGHT BEGAN GOING OFF INTERMITTENTLY(USUALLY WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT) AT AROUND 60,000 MILES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INITIALLY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE "SENSOR". THE VEHICLE NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000 MILES ON IT AND THE STEERING WILL BECOME VERY DIFFICULT AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER IS NOW RECOMMENDING COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING SYSTEM. MY VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN INCLUDED IN ANY STEERING RELATED RECALLS, BUT THERE IS CLEARLY A DEFECT WITH MY VEHICLE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT CONSIDER IT A SAFETY ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD TURN ON WHILE DRIVING AND THE RPM TACH WOULD REV UNCONTROLLABLY. WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED, THE LIGHT TURNS OFF AND THE ESC WARNING APPEARS ON THE DASH. FIXED IN 2014 AS PART OF THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING RECALL (14V252000). AS OF THE LAST TWO MONTHS, THE PROBLEM STARTED UP AGAIN. FIRST, I WENT AND DIAGNOSED IT AT A REPAIR SHOP AND IT TOLD ME THE BRAKE POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE CALIBRATED. AFTER THAT WAS FIXED, THE PROBLEMS OCCURRED AGAIN AND REPLACED THE SENSOR. AFTER THE SECOND TIME, THE PROBLEM WAS STILL NOT FIXED. AFTER GOING TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND GETTING THE CONCERN FIXED, IT IS STILL NOT FIXED.

DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS ON THIS VEHICLE HAVE FAILED WITHIN 30,000 MILES OF MANUFACTURE. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS ON 2008-2009 MODELS DOCUMENTED ALL OVER THE INTERNET. I AM UNABLE TO LOCK OR UNLOCK MY DOORS ELECTRONICALLY DUE TO THIS CHRONICALLY FAULTY PART. IT IS UNSAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH MY KIDS IN THE BACKSEAT BECAUSE I WOULD BE UNABLE TO GET THEM OUT OF THE LOCKED CAR IN AN EMERGENCY (I CURRENTLY HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOOR BECAUSE THE LOCK BUTTON IS AT THE REAR OF THE DOOR). FROM WHAT I CAN TELL, GM HAS REPLACED THIS PART WITH NEWER VERSIONS THAT RESOLVED THE ISSUES, BUT THEY NEVER CONTACTED THE PUBLIC TO OFFER TO REPLACE THE FAULTY PART. MANY GM CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING TO SPEND OVER $1,000 IN PARTS AND LABOR TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE. WHILE GM WILL ARGUE THAT POWER LOCKS ARE A CONVENIENCE ISSUE AND NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, I WOULD INVITE NHTSA TO LOOK AT MY CAR AND SEE HOW IT IS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO UNLOCK THE BACK DOORS FROM THE FRONT SEAT AND THE PROCESS INVOLVED IN ROLLING DOWN THE WINDOW TO UNLOCK AND OPEN THE DOOR. IN AN EMERGENCY, SECONDS COUNT AND I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET MY KIDS OUT. THEY NEED TO RECALL THESE ACTUATORS AND REPLACE THEM WITH THE REDESIGNED PART NUMBER.

BACK OF DRIVERS SEAT BROKE AT HINGE AREA OR MOUNTING BRACKET. THE SEAT IS NOW LOOSE AND UNSTABLE AS IT TILTS TO CENTER CONSOLE AND IS UNSTABLE BOTH IN ACCELLERATION AND DECELLERATION AND FEELS LIKE IT WILL SEPERATE FROM THE SEAT MOUNTING APPARATUS.
