I WENT OUT TO MY CAR TO GO SOMEWHERE AND THE ESC IS THE POWER STEERING THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT MOVE WAS IN THE BACK OF MY HOUSE
SERVICE ESC AND POWER STEERING. CARS POWER STEERING WILL TURN OFF AND DISPLAY SERVICE ESC. POWER STEERING WILL TURN OFF AUTOMATICALLY WHILE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN. CAR THEN NEEDS TO BE TURNED OFF THEN ON AGAIN IN ORDER TO GET THE POWER STEERING BACK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE SHORTLY AFTERWARD. THE VEHICLE VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY WITH A STRONG SHUDDER, THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED, ESC OFF, AND TRACTION CONTROL OFF WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON, BUT THE WARNING INDICATORS CONTINUED AND THE SERVICE ENGINE INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH APPROACHING AN EXIT RAMP, A CHIME RANG AND A POWER STEERING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED AND ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR CIRCUIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING) AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,068.
I WAS TRAVELLING ABOUT 25-30MPH STARTED TO SKID (YES IT WAS ICY) LIGHTLY TAPPED THE BRAKES THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE STEERING LOCKED UP AND THE BRAKES ALSO. ALL I COULD DO WAS LET GO AND HOPE FOR THE BEST. ENDING UP HITTING A FED EX VAN AND PGE TRUCK WITH A SNOW PLOW. THERE IS A POLICE REPORT AND THE CAR ENDED UP GETTING TOTALLED. I HAD ONLY MADE ONE PAYMENT ON IT. INSURANCE CLAIM# 003379048000000016001 USAA , AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK AND WILL NOT OPEN SOMETIMES AND WILL NOT CLOSE SOMETIMES WHEN OPENED. WHEN IT WONT OPEN IT FEELS LIKE THE HANDLES ARE NOT GRABBING ANYTHING. THE DOOR JAMS ARE CLEAR OF ANY DEBRIS. WHEN IT WONT SHUT IT WILL SOUND LIKE IT DID BUT WILL BOUNCE OPEN. THE DOOR OPENED ON ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. THE LOCK KNOBS MOVE UP AND DOWN WHEN YOU UNLOCK THEM BUT THE DOOR STILL WILL NOT OPEN SOMETIMES. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 3 DAYS. IT WILL NOT OPEN WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY AND THE DOOR CAME OPEN ON ME WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. I DID NOT HIT ANY HOLES OR BUMPS. *TR
IT IS A 2010 MALIBU LS. YESTERDAY WHEN I WAS CLOSING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, IT WOULD NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY FROM THE OUTSIDE. I LOOKED AT THE CATCH AND THE AREA MIDWAY ON THE DOOR TO SEE IF ANYTHING WAS CAUGHT IN IT OR LOOKED LIKE IT WAS MISSING. I DIDNT SEE ANYTHING. I GOT IN AND SHUT THE DOOR AND IT CLOSED, BUT WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN IT IT WOULD NOT OPEN. I TRIED PUSHING THE POWER LOCK BUTTON INSIDE A FEW TIMES LOCKING AND UNLOCKING AND IT STILL DOES NOT OPEN. WHEN YOU PULL THE LTACH ON THE INSIDE IT FEELS LIKE IT IS NOT CATCHING ANYTHING. I TRIED JUST USING THE KEY ON THE OUTSIDE AND THE HANDLE ON THE OUTSIDE SEEMS LIKE IT IS NOT CATCHING ANYTHING. THE LOCKS STILL GO UP AND DOWN, WITH AND WITHOUT USING THE REMOTE. ALSO I NOTICED THAT THE RADIO STAYS ON WITH THE DOORS CLOSED AND NO KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE PASSANGER SIDE AND REAR DOORS WORK FINE.
AFTER I START THE CAR, THE VEHICLE WILL CHIME AS THE DIC DISPLAYS "POWER STEERING" (USUALLY ACCOMPANIED BY "SERVICE ESC" AND "SVC TIRE MONITOR"). THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WILL THEN COMPLETELY GIVE OUT MAKING IT VERY STRENUOUS TO USE STEERING WHEEL TO TURN BOTH IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. THIS PROBLEM REQUIRES THE CAR TO BE RESTARTED MULTIPLE TIMES IN ORDER FOR POWER STEERING TO RUN AND WORK SMOOTHLY AGAIN. POWER STEERING OCCASIONALLY GIVES OUT DURING MANY TRIPS (REGARDLESS OF SPEED AND DISTANCE), WHILE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING VERY FEW TRIPS UNINTERRUPTED. I DRIVE A 2010 CHEVY MALIBU WITH 140K MILES ON IT - THIS HAS BEEN PRETTY MUCH MY ONLY PROBLEM THUS FAR, BUT HAS NOW OCCURRED EVERYDAY FOR ABOUT 4-5 DAYS IN A ROW.
CRUISE CONTROL WHEN ENGAGED MAINTAINS THE SPEED BUT WHEN CLIMBING A HILL THE RPM'S WON'T SHIFT THE CAR AND THEN ONCE THE CAR REACHES THE SET SPEED IT STILL WON'T SHIFT . THE SET SPEED WITH CRUISE CONTROLS WON'T STAY WHEN DECENDING DOWN A HILL BUT WILL INCREASE WITH SPEED AND WON'T MAINTAIN THE SPEED YOU SET IT AT. THIS IS BAD FOR THE ENGIN AND TRANSMISSION AS WHEN YOU DE ACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROLS THE CAR SHIFTS GEARS .
MY CAR ONLY HAS 95897 MILES ON IT AND THEIRS SOMETHI G WRONG WITH THE ENGIN TRANSMISSION ... CARS BEEN WELL TAKEN CAR OF AND WHEN YOU CLIMB HILLS IT LOOSES POWER AND HAS A HARD TIME CLIMBING THE HILL.
HEADLIGHT CONTINUES TO GO OUT, REPLACE WITH NEW ONE ONLY LASTS A FEW DAYS. ALSO IF YOU SHUT OFF CAR TO GO GAS CAR DOESNT RESTART. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME GET GAS.
ECSLIGHT COME ON AND THEN YOU LOSE POWER STEERING AND GET A ERROR SAYING POWER STEERING IF YOU TURN CAR OFF AND MAKE ON IT AGAIN LIGHT GOES OFF AND THE POWER STEERING COMES BACK CAR WAS ON HIGHWAY THIS AS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIME IN THE LAST TWO SATS
ESC LIGHT IS COMING ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND WON'T TURN WHILE DRIVING AND ALSO WHILE PARKED. SHUTTING OFF CAR THEN TURNING BACK ON SOMETIMES RESETS IT BUT THE STEERING COLUMN IS ALSO VIBRATING AND ALMOST FEELS AS THE STEERING WHEEL IS GOING TO FALL OFF. STEERING WHEEL IS ALSO TWITCHING EVEN WHILE AT A STOP. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF, ALL OIL CHANGES DONE ON TIME SND REGULAR MAINTAINCE.
I WAS DRIVING AND THEN CAME TO A STOP TO PULL ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. WHEN I TURNED ON THE HIGH WAY MY MALIBU WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND ACTED AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL, AS A SEMI PULLED UP BEHIND ME I HAD TO PUT IT ALMOST IN A DITCH SO I WOULDN'T GET HIT. MY MECHANIC SAYS ITS THE 3,5,R WAVE PLATE AND THAT HE LOOKED AT ALL THE MALIBU FORUMS ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. NEVER BUYING A CHEVY AGAIN. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING AND TURNS OFF WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS ENGAGED. IT IS ALSO ILLUMINATED WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING AND WHILE IDLING IN PARK. THIS HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS. THERE HAS BEEN NO RESOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE DESPITE BEING ASSESSED BY A TECHNICIAN ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE ESC AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ON CLUSTER CONSTANTLY STAYS ILLUMINATED AS WELL AS THE TIRE SENSOR INDICATOR. THE CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTIONS TOO. NO ONE EVER KNOWS HOW TO REPAIR THESE ISSUES. I DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO PUT INTO THIS VEHICLE ANY LONGER. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE EVERY TIME I GET IN IT. IT IS A DANGER TO ALL ON THE ROADWAYS WHEN A VEHICLE'S BRAKE SYSTEM FAILS IN ANY WAY. I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE AS THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE MY FAMILY OWNS AT THIS TIME. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, GM HAS MULTIPLE VEHICLES IN OPERATION WITH THE SAME ISSUES. WHAT MAKES IT SO BAD, THE PROBLEMS DATE BACK AS FAR AS 2004. HOW DO YOU KEEP PRODUCING CARS WITH THE SAME ISSUES YEAR AFTER YEAR? ARE THERE NO REPERCUSSIONS? PLEASE HELP.
SEAT FRAME WELDS ARE BROKEN, BOTTOM FRONT RIGHT SIDE TUBE ON DRIVERS SEAT.
SYMPTOMS STARTED OCCASIONALLY MAINLY WHILE GOING STRAIGHT, AT ANY SPEED, WOULD STAY OFF UNTIL I RESTARTED THE CAR, NOW IT INCREASED TO ALL THE TIMEN WITHIN A FEW MONTHS. WHEN ELECTRIC POWER STEERING IS ON THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE IN PARK...AND WOULD JERK THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE DRIVING. POWER STEERING GOES OUT.. SAYS TO SERVICE POWER STEERING AND SERVICE ESC. MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER ESPECIALLY AND THE LOWER SPEEDS, I FEEL LIKE I AM DRIVING AS IF I AM DRIVINT A SEMI, FORCES ME TO TAKE WIDER TURNS. DID CONTACT GM, THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE THAT MY CAR HAS SAME SYMPTOMS AS OTHER PREVIOUSLY RECALLED VEHICLES. THE CAR WAS OUT OF THE SPECIAL WARRANTY GM ISSUED DUE TO MILEAGE, I HOWEVER BOUGHT THE CAR USED WITH 170,000 IT HAD ALREADY SURPASSED THE WARRANTY.
MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN I AM DRIVING AND THEN WHEN THE BRAKES ARE PRESSED THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF. IT'S A SCARY THING BECAUSE IT REALLY CONFUSES THE CARS BEHIND ME.

IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE ESC AND SERVICE TRACTION WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS DID NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PORTER CHEVROLET (414 E CLEVELAND AVE, NEWARK, DE 19711, (302) 722-4822) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, IT LOST POWER AND SHUT OFF. AN HOUR LATER THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART, BUT SHUT OFF AGAIN AFTER APPROXIMATELY THREE MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH WAVE PLATES (3RD, 5TH, AND 10TH) FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,006.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE MY POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING AT LOW SPEEDS. THIS WAS AS I WAS TURNING, SO IT CAUSED QUITE A BIT OF PANIC. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A ONE-TIME ISSUE, HOWEVER 2 MONTHS LATER, I AM DRIVING TO SCHOOL AND TAKING A TURN WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN, ONCE AGAIN THIS ISSUE CAUSED ME TO BE IN A UNSAFE SITUATION, LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT LOW SPEEDS. I AM A FEMALE THEREFORE CANNOT GENERATE THE EFFORT NEEDED TO TURN THE WHEEL WHEN THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THE 2009 MODEL YEAR HAS A TSB ON IT, HOWEVER MY VEHICLE WHICH HAS EXACTLY THE SAME SYMPTOMS DOES NOT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, GOING 60MPH. THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 5MPH AND STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING, AND I HAD TO QUICKLY PULL TO THE SHOULDER LANE, "REDUCED ENGINE SPEED" APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD, ALONG WITH "ESC TRACTION CONTROL". RESTARTED MY CAR AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. ABOUT 15 MINS LATER, IT DID THE SAME THING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR MYSELF AND OTHER PEOPLE AROUND ME.
CAR DOOR WILL GO OUT. CAR DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AND WILL BE STUCK CLOSED. CAR WAS STATIONARY. HAD TO GO OUT THROUGH THE WINDOWS. COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU WERE IN AN EMERGENCY AND COULDN'T EXIT VEICHLE BECAUSE THE DOORS WOULDN'T OPEN.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO ACT LIKE IT WAS GOING INTO NEUTRAL, SLIPPING SHIFTS WITHOUT POWER IN THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. WITH INTERMITTENT TRANSMISSION POWER THIS CAUSED A SERIOUS SITUATION IN TRAFFIC. I WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC AND LIMP IT HOME. THIS TRANSMISSION HAS 94,000 MILES ON IT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER, THEY TOOK THE TRANSMISSION APART AND THE TRANSMISSION SUFFERED THE 3-5-R WAVE PLATE FAILURE, THE PLATE HAS A FLAW THAT CAUSES IT TO BREAK APART AND JUST CHEW UP YOUR TRANSMISSION, THIS PART IS A COMMON FAILURE THAT BREAKS AND A FULL REBUILD OF THE TRANSMISSION IS REQUIRED. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS IS AN ENGINEERING FLAW AND THE NEW PARTS THAT ARE USED TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION ARE RE-ENGINEERED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A 6T40 TRANSMISSION, THE BIGGER BROTHER TO THIS TRANSMISSION THE (6T70 AND 6T75) HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS ENGINEERING FAILURE. CHEVY KNOW ABOUT THIS FAILURE BUT IS NOT RECALLING THE TRANSMISSION AND REFUSES TO FIX IT. IT COST ME 2500 DOLLARS AND ITS A DRIVING HAZARD WHEN THE TRANSMISSION GOES OUT IN TRAFFIC. THIS IS A DOCUMENTED FAILURE AND HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.
FREEWAY DRIVING SPEED OF 65 MPH. TURNED OFF FREEWAY ON TO A 50 MPH ROAD. ENGINE LIGHT, SERVICE ESC LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. CAR WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" AND REDUCED DRIVING TO ONLY 20 MPH. DROVE 5 MILES IN LIMP MODE TO GET HOME. GOT A "P1235" CODE. AFTER LEAVING CAR FOR AN HOUR AND RESTARTING, IT DRIVE NORMALLY BUT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON AND THE P1235 CODE IS STORED. TOOK VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND CAR DROVE AS NORMAL. HE THINKS IT IS A BUTTON ON THE GAS PEDAL OR A THROTTLE BODY. BOTH ARE EXPENSIVE OPTIONS AND SHOULD BE UNDER SOME WARRANTY. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 7 YEARS OLD. *TR
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS AT IDLE (STOP LIGHT), THE ENGINE SURGES AND SPUTTERS AND THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL / ECS LIGHTS APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES. THE CAR WILL THEN ACCELERATE VERY SLOWLY ONLY UP TO ABOUT 20 MPH. I HAD THE CAR FIXED AT A GM DEALER ABOUT A YEAR AGO FOR A VEHICLE RECALL ON THE MAIN BODY WIRING CONNECTOR TO BCM. NOTE: THE GM FIX IS TO "CLEAN" THE CONNECTOR AND ADD DIELECTRIC GREASE TO PREVENT CORROSION. THE CAR WAS FINE AFTER THAT UNTIL NOW. I'VE SEEN MANY OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND I BELIEVE THE "FIX" IS ONLY TEMPORARY.
ONE OF MY NEW TIRES CONTINUALLY DEFLATE. AFTER TAKING TO TIRE CO. 6OF8WKS TO GET AIR, I WAS TOLD I HAVE A CRACKED WHEEL AND WILL PAY $500 FOR A USED WHEEL OR UP TO $1000 FOR AUTHORIZED DEALER TO REPLACE IT. I PAY $50 EXTRA F/PLATINUM WARRANTY AND HAD TO PAY FOR AIRBAG SVC'ING TO GET INSPECTION--AND $100 DEDUCTIBLE FROM WARRANTY COMPANY. IN 2YRS, I'VE PAID $1200 F/WARRANTY PLUS $150 DEDUCTIBLE@AUTHORIZED SERVICE CTR-PINKERTON CHEV IN LYNCHBURG, VA-AND IT TOOK 3 WEEKS THAT I HAD TO BUM A RIDE TO WORK OR PAY A CAB. NOW, I'M RIDING ON A "DONUT" AND MY GAS MILEAGE IS <8MPG........W/A $389 CAR NOTE AND $200 CAR INSURANCE NOTE.
ON DEC 9 2016 I WAS DRIVING ON HWY 169 IN MN AND MY 2010 MALIBU DISPLAYED SERVICE ESC THAN FLASHED POWER STEERING THEN ESC OFF THEN I LOST POWER STEERING AND IT HAS NOT REGAINED EVEN AFTER ALL THE RESTARTS BEEN COUPLE WEEKS NOW STILL THERE SEARCHED THE INTERNET SEEMS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE CAR HAS 180,000 MILES BUT SERVICED REGULARLY SO YES I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. STEERING IS PRETTY IMPORTANT WHEN DRIVING . ANY INFO PERTAINING TO THE MALIBU STEERING. *TR

THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,575.
WE OWN A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU LTZ, WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TO PERFORM A RECALL FOR THE BRAKE LIGHTS COMING ON BY THEIR SELF AND STAYING ON TILL YOU TOUCH THE BRAKE, THEN THEY WILL GO OFF FOR 6 SECONDS THEN COME ON AGAIN. WE TOOK BACK TO THE DEALER TO LOOK AT IT AGAIN AND THEY SAID IT WAS BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH THIS TIME. I HAVE READ THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE CHANGED THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH AND STILL HAD THE PROBLEM. I ALSO READ THAT THE BCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AFTER THE RECALL WAS DONE. THE DEALER PUT SOME DIELECTRIC SILICONE GREASE ON THE CONNECTOR AS A BAND-AID ON THE REAL PROBLEM. I ASSUME IF THE BCM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THAT WOULD COST GM TO MUCH MONEY. I KNOW THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND BELIEVE IT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2004 ON MANY DIFFERENT MODELS. PLEASE HELP US.

THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRIC POWER STEER FAILED WITH NO WARNING WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ALONG A NORMAL SUBURBAN ROAD. THIS CREATED A DANGEROUSLY UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION AS SHE COULD BARELY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO TRAGEDY THAT RESULTED, BUT THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND WE TOWED IT TO OUR HOME THEN TO A GM STORE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AS IT IS WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITHIN GM AND PUBLIC FORUMS ACROSS. I WAS INFORMED THAT GM HAS CREATED A SPECIAL POLICY #15356 TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE WHEN I WAS AT THE GM STORE, EXTENDING THE WARRANTY, THEY SAID IT WAS ONLY TO 150K MILES & OUR VEHICLE HAS 159K MILES SO WE WEREN'T COVERED. I ASKED IF THERE WAS ANY MAINTENANCE THAT WE COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THIS, THERE WASN'T ANY PROCEDURE. FURTHER RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT THERE IS NO SET MILEAGE THAT THIS CAN OCCUR DUE TO THE FACT THAT IS A FAULTY DESIGN & NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ! THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE A RECALL DUE TO THE SAFETY RAMIFICATIONS WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS AND THE STEERING BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO OPERATE CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND IS SURE TO THE CAUSE OF ACCIDENTS/ INJURY/ETC. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH ON CITY STREET, CHIME RANG AND POWER STEERING CUT OUT. CAR WAS STILL STEERABLE WITHOUT POWER ASSIST, BUT BECAME MUCH MORE DIFFICULT AT LOW SPEEDS. SUDDEN MANEUVER AT SLOWER SPEED WOULD BE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. POWER STEERING CAME BACK ON NEXT TIME I STARTED THE CAR, BUT CUT OUT AGAIN AFTER A SHORT TIME. I AM AWARE THAT THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THE PREVIOUS FOUR MODEL YEARS OF THE SAME SERIES OF CHEVROLET MALIBUS. THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR IS ABOUT 48,000. CLEARLY, THE 2010 MALIBU NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AS WELL. *TR

FAULTY PASSENGER PRESENCE MODULE , AIRBAG WARNING FAULT LIGHT ON. . THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE MODULE AT MY OWN EXPENSE OF $800. I FEEL THAT MY FAMILY AND MY SAFETY IS AT RISK DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN THAT GM IS AWARE OF WITH ITS AIRBAG COMPONENTS. AIRBAGS SHOULD BE WORKING FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE, AND IF THEY ARE FAILING THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD REPLACE THOSE FAULTY DESIGNED PARTS AT NO EXPENSE TO THE OWNERS.

"TAKATA RECALL": THE DOOR LOCK DOES NOT WORK AT TIMES. THE DOOR WILL NOT SHUT AS WELL AS THE DOOR'S LOCK ASSEMBLY NOT DISENGAGING. THE LOCKING ASSEMBLY WILL EITHER NOT UNLOCK OR WILL NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO STAY LATCHED. IT HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING WHEN MOVING, STATIONARY, DRIVING ON ANY TYPE OF ROAD OR PARKING AREA. WE HAD DAVIDSON CHEVROLET IN WATERTOWN, NEW YORK ON MARCH 7, 2016 FOR A SEAT BELT PROBLEM AND HAD THE DOOR LOOKED AT THAT DAY. WE WERE INFORMED IT WOULD COST OVER $500.00 TO REPLACE THE PART. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE ALMOST FALLEN OUT OF CAR WHILE DRIVING WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE CAR WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT AND NOTHING CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN.
