TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCE SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,679.
MY SERVICE ESC/SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL INDICATOR WAS FLASHING. IT CAUSED MY CAR TO STALL, THEN THE ENGINE DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH TRAFFIC APPROACHING BEHIND ME. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AND IT CAUSED MY BRAKE LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE WHEN NOT DEPRESSED AND GO OFF WHEN THE BRAKES WERE PRESSED. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS WAS HAPPENING ALSO AS IT WAS LIGHT OUTSIDE AND I COULD NOT SEE. THE CAR STARTED AFTERWARD AND STILL PERIODICALLY STALLS OR DIES WHEN THE SERVICE ESC/SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHTS UP. AS OF 6-13-14, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED NOTICE THAT MY VIN IS AFFECTED BY THE LATEST RECALL FOR THE BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEM. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE BRAKES LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY DISENGAGING THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THE ESC WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURES RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURES UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL , EXTERIOR LIGHTING , SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC , VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE WAS 36,000.
SINCE I PURCHASED MY CAR THERE HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT INCIDENTS THAT I DIDN'T PAY ATTENTION TO. THE TRACTION,CRUISE CONTROL DON'T WORK PROPERLEY, THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE AIR BAGS APPEARS AND WILL STAY ON FOR AWHILE I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE LIGHTING. AS SOON AS I RECIEVED THE RECALL LETTER I CALLED THE DEALER RIGHT AWAY AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEMS, THEY LOOKED IT UP AND SAID I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL THE PARTS ARRIVE. I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY I USE MY CAR FOR MY FAMILY AND WILL BE HAVING TO MAKE A LONG DISTANCE TRIP TO PICK UP MY DAUGHTER. WHAT DO I DO IN THE MEANTIME WHEN MY CAR IS ALREADY HAVING PROBLEMS? *JS
WHEN I START DRIVING MY CAR DOWN THE STREET THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON. IF I TAP THE PEDDLE THE LIGHTS WILL GO OFF FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS THE COME BACK ON AGAIN AND STAY ON. WHEN I TOUCH THE BRAKES TOSLOW DOWN THEY GO OFF AND DO NOT COME ON UNTIL I APPLY FULL PRESSURE TO THEM. THE TRACTION SERVICE LIGHTS COMES ON SPORADICALLY HAVE TAKEN THIS IN TO GET IT FIXED AND THEY CANT FIX IT BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE A RECALL NOTICE ON IT. WHAT AM I TO DO. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM TO ME. *TR
INTERIOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE LIGHTS IN THE DASHBOARD---DASH LIGHTS (DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER) AND RADIO LIGHTS OCCASIONALLY DO NOT COME ON AND/OR FREQUENTLY GO OFF WHILE DRIVING. RADIO WILL BE WORKING THEN AUX IMPUT DEVICE WILL APPEAR AND THE RADIO STOPS WORKING. ALSO THE RADIO LIGHTS WILL TILE AT TIMES AND THEN START ROLLING IN RECTANGULAR LINES. *TR
WHILE CAR IS ON. BRAKE LIGHTS WORK IN REVERSE. WHEN BREAK PEDAL IS PUSHED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT. WHEN PEDAL IS NOT ENGAGED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON. (WORKS IN REVERSE). SERVICE TRACTION, ECS WARING COMES ON. *TR
I CALLED GM AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS INCLUDED ON THE RECENT RECALL ISSUED MAY 14, HOWEVER THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE YET TO FIX. I WAS ALSO MADE AWARE THAT THIS RECALL FIX WOULD ONLY FIX THE BRAKE LAMPS AND THAT THE OTHER ISSUES I.E CRUISE CONTROL, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, AND TRACTION CONTROL ARE NOT A PART THIS RECALL. I AM ISSUING ANOTHER COMPLAINT DUE TO READING MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE AND THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED BY GM. THIS IS A POTENTIAL DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY, NOT TO MENTION WITH THE BRAKE LAMPS STAYING ILLUMINATED AND TURN OFF WHEN THE PEDAL IS PRESSED CURRENTLY. THERE SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL SINCE THE ISSUES INCLUDED IN THE RECENT RECALL WILL NOT BE ADDRESSED AND HAS MADE ME A DISSATISFIED GM OWNER. I HOPE THE NHTSA WILL FURTHER INVESTIGATE COMPLAINTS AND PRESSURE GM TO COMPLETELY FIX THESE DEFECTS IMMEDIATELY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKES WERE NOT BEING ENGAGED AND TURNED OFF WHEN THEY WERE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TPN SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE REPAIRS WERE MADE BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. ALL IN ONE WEEKEND (WHILE OUT OF TOWN) FIRST THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO CRUISE CONTROL COMMANDS (ENGAGE OR DISENGAGE) IF ENGAGED THROUGH THE STEERING COLUMN CONTROLS. THE SERVICE ESC LIGHT KEEPS COMING OFF AND ON AT RANDOM WHILE EITHER SITTING OR DRIVING. THE ESC TRACKING IS TURNED OFF. BRAKE LIGHTS WILL ILLUMINATE RANDOMLY WHEN MY FOOT IS NOT ON THE BRAKES. TAPPING THE BRAKES GETS THE LIGHT TO TURN OFF, BUT IT TURNS ON AGAIN 5-6 SECONDS LATER. WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN OR TAP THE BRAKE THE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ONLY COMING ON WHEN I'M AT A COMPLETE HARD STOP. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS I HAVE OVER A 40 MINUTE COMMUTE INTO THE CITY EACH DAY. ALSO, THE SEATBELT LIGHT AND BEEPING IS ON EVEN WHEN MY SEATBELT IS SECURED. I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE THESE ITEMS REPLACE, AND I HAVE 4 YEARS TO PAY ON THIS CAR! THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THESE ITEMS IN MY CAR. *TR

#14V252000 THE RECALL WAS INITIALLY "REPAIRED" IN MAY 2014 AT PENSKE CHEVROLET IN INDIANAPOLIS, IN. ABOUT A MONTH LATER I HAD TO TAKE VEHICLE BACK BECAUSE THE ESC ERROR WAS STILL HAPPENING. I WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER RECALL BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN "REPAIRED", AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE "REPAIR" OUT OF POCKET. AFTER SOME NEGOTIATION THEY AGREED TO PERFORM THE SAME "REPAIR" FOR FREE. IN 2016 THE ESC ERROR STARTED AGAIN. THIS TIME I TOOK IT TO BILL ESTES CHEVROLET IN INDIANAPOLIS, IN. THEY DIDN'T LISTEN TO MY COMPLAINT OR ISSUE WITH THE RECALL BECAUSE MY VIN SHOWS NO CURRENT RECALL FOR THE ESC ISSUE. THEY CONVINCED ME THAT IT WAS A SENSOR ISSUE AND "REPAIRED" THE VEHICLE TO THE TUNE OF $500+. WITHIN THE WEEK THE VEHICLE AGAIN HAD THE ESC ERROR, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, AND ENGINE BUCKING. RETURNED THE CAR TO BILL ESTES CHEVROLET AND AGAIN MY DISCUSSION ABOUT THE ESC ERROR RECALL WAS OVERLOOKED. I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE HAD A CRACKED MANIFOLD AND DAMAGED O2 SENSOR. THEY "REPAIRED" THE VEHICLE TO THE TUNE OF $800. FOR THE NEXT WEEK, EVERYDAY AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE ABOUT 6 MILES THE ESC ERROR WOULD OCCUR. CURRENTLY WE ARE CALLING FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THIS "REPAIRED" AT BILL ESTES CHEVROLET. AFTER MUCH INTERNET RESEARCH, I AM GOING TO SPECIFICALLY ASK THAT THEY PERFORM AGAIN THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN THE RECALL. I THINK THAT THIS A RECURRING PROBLEM THAT MAY NEED TO "REPAIRED" OFTEN UNTIL GM/ CHEVROLET COMES UP WITH A PERMANENT SOLUTION. FOR NOW MY WIFE DRIVES THE VEHICLE TO WORK MORE THAN 20 MILES A DAY. AT ANYTIME BECAUSE OF THIS ESC ERROR, SHE COULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HAVE AN ACCIDENT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK AND INTO DRIVE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND THE ECS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT APPLIED AND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT FAILED ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,700. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

VEHICLE LOST THROTTLE WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, HAD TO PULL OVER AND RESTART ENGINE. AFTER AN HOUR, EXITED HIGHWAY TO RE-FUEL. ENGINE DIED ON THE RAMP WITHOUT ANY WARNING ON THE HIGHWAY, HAD TO PUSH IT OFF THE RAMP AND TOW TO THE DEALER FOR FUEL PUMP. *JS
FOR THE 2014 14V252000 RECALL, WE BELIEVE THE PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. WE ARE GETTING IT FIXED AGAIN AT OUR EXPENSE. SALLY BOYLE FROM THE IL ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE TALKED AT LENGTH WITH THE GM COUNSEL TODAY AND GM STATED THAT IL HAS NO JURISDICTION OVER THEM, JUST THE NHTSA.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
UPON ARRIVING AT MY DESTINATION I ATTEMPTED TO EXIT VEHICLE BUT THE DRIVER'S DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. IT COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM EITHER THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE. TRIED LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE DOOR FROM THE KEY REMOTE, FROM THE BUTTONS ON THE DOOR AND MANUALLY AND TRIED THE KEY IN THE DOOR BUT NOTHING WOULD ALLOW THE DOOR TO OPEN. ULTIMATELY HAD TO CLIMB OVER THE CONSOLE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE TO EXIT VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO DO SO, SOME PEOPLE (DUE TO AGE, HEALTH, SIZE, ETC.) WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO. IF I HAD BEEN IN A SITUATION WHERE I NEEDED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE QUICKLY I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO SO AND NO ONE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR TO HELP ME. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY IF THERE HAD BEEN A FIRE. GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AS THEY HAVE ISSUED A TSB. A QUICK SEARCH ON THE INTERNET SHOWS THOUSANDS OF REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM FROM OWNERS OF MANY DIFFERENT GM VEHICLES, NOT JUST THE MALIBU, DATING BACK AT LEAST SIX YEARS. I HOPE THERE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A FATALITY DUE TO THIS BEFORE GM ISSUES A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
SO ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO THE SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON BRIEFLY AND DIDN'T COME BACK ON FOR A WHILE. THEN ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO IT STARTED GOING OFF ALMOST EVERYTIME I DROVE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I BOUGHT IT IN KANNAPOLIS, NC CALLED CLASSIC CHEVROLET ON 5/3/14. THEY SAID I COULD PAY 98.00 TO GET IT HOOKED UP TO THE COMPUTER READER, BUT THE LIGHT WAS OFF SO I DECIDED I DIDN'T REALLY HAVE 98.00 TO WASTE. AS IT HAD BEEN HOOKED UP TO A CODE READER WHEN THE LIGHT WAS OFF BEFORE AND DIDN'T READ ANYTHING. THERE IS AN OPTION TO TURN OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL SO I WAS DRIVING WITH IT OFF. WE WENT TO MICHIGAN ON 5/8/14 IT WAS DRIVING FINE. LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. WHEN WE WERE IN MICHIGAN IT STARTED GOING ON AGAIN, AGAIN DRIVING WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF. IT WAS HOOKED UP TO A COMPUTER AND NO CODES CAME UP AND LIGHT GOES OFF WHEN YOU TURN IT OFF AND NEVER CAME BACK ON OUR WHOLE WAY HOME. NOTHING FELT OR SOUNDED DIFFERENT WITH THE DRIVING. DRIVING FINE TO DROP OFF OUR SON AT PRACTICE THIS MORNING 5/17/14, TURNED ON CAR TO GO PICK HIM UP AND COULDN'T REVERSE, BUT WOULD GO FORWARD. I HAD MY HUSBAND AND HIS BROTHER PUSH US OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND IT WAS DRIVING FINE FOR THE FIRST 3 BLOCKS, THEN STARTED TO CHUG AND WOULDN'T SHIFT CORRECTLY LEAVING A STOP LIGHT. I TURNED AROUND ON A CIRCLE DRIVE. WE LIVE ON A CULDESAC SO I PULLED AHEAD OF OUR HOUSE, SO WE COULD PUSH IT BACK IN THE DRIVE WAY. WHEN MY HUSBAND CAME BACK OUT IT WAS LIKE LOCKED, WE COULDN'T PUSH IT IN REVERSE. THEN IT WOULDN'T GO FORWARD. MY HUSBAND UNHOOKED THE BATTERY AND WAS ABLE TO REVERSE WITH STRUGGLE AND PULL INTO THE DRIVEWAY WITH STRUGGLE. DURING ALL OF THIS, THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN ILLUMINATING WHEN NOT BEING PUSHED AND SOMETIME THEY DON'T EVEN WORK. *JS
2010 CHEVY MALIBU PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. THE DOOR LOCK IS IN THE UNLOCK POSITION BUT THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. I HAVE UNLOCKED THE PASSENGER DOOR FROM THE DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON, THE KEY REMOTE AND THE PHYSICAL KEY. THE LOCK ITSELF GOES UP AND DOWN WHEN THE DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON IS PRESSED AND KEY REMOTE BUTTON IS PRESSED, BUT WHEN THE DOOR HANDLE IS PULLED FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. *TR

THE ESC OFF WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE TRACTION IN THE VEHICLE MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I WAS T-BONED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR AND THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE DOOR AND HIT MY DAUGHTER IN THE FACE. THE AIRBAG HAD FIBERS AND SUCH ON IT THAT WAS IMBEDDED IN MY DAUGHTERS EYE. SHE HAD TO HAVE SURGERY TO GET IT OUT. *TR
2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WITHOUT BRAKE PEDAL BEING PRESSED AND GO OFF ONCE PEDAL IS PRESSED...THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND COMMON AMONG THIS MODEL AND OTHER GM MODELS. I BELIEVE THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUE IMMEDIATELY TO FIX THIS ISSUE. *JS

I HAVE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS CAR THAT I BELIEVE TO BE MANUFACTURER DEFECTS. THE MOST SERIOUS ISSUE I FOUND TODAY (4/19/2014) WHEN I SMELLED GAS OUTSIDE OF MY CAR. UPON LOOKING UNDERNEATH MY CAR I FOUND MY GAS TANK LEAKING ONTO MY EXHAUST PIPE. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A RECALL ISSUE BECAUSE THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF MY CAR. ONE OF THE OTHER SERIOUS ISSUES I HAVE FOUND WITH MY CAR INCLUDE A BRAKE LIGHT ISSUE. MY CAR WAS OCCASIONALLY SHOWING A "SERVICE TRACTION/ ESC" ERROR CODE, WHICH COULD NOT BE EXPLAINED BY ANY MECHANIC OR EVEN A CHEVY DEALERSHIP THEMSELVES. IT WASN'T UNTIL A FRIEND FOLLOWING ME POINTED OUT THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS DIDN'T SEEM TO BE WORKING RIGHT, DID I REALIZE I WAS HAVING AN ISSUE. THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT THEY SHOULD, BUT ONLY ON THE OCCASIONS SAID ERROR CODE IS SHOWING. I LOOKED INTO THE ISSUE ONLINE AND FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. CHEVY HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO GIVE ME A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. THE THIRD MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE I'D LIKE TO POINT OUT, I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE IS NOT EXCLUSIVE TO MY CAR. WHEN I SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OF MY MALIBU, AMONG EVERY MALIBU I HAVE EVER BEEN, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DOES NOT TURN ON. LAST SPRING I HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY 2010 CHEVY MALIBU WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY. THE ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY FAILED RESULTING IN NO POWER STEERING. AFTER RESEARCH I BECAME AWARE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHEVY MALIBU'S BUT WAS ONLY COVERED IN RECALLS UNTIL 2009. I PAID FOR REPAIR ON THIS OUT OF POCKET LIKE MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS AS SEEN WITH RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET. I HAVE JUST DISCOVERED THE COMPANY THAT MADE THE STEERING COLUMN FOR GM, DORMAN, IS RECALLING THEIR STEERING COLUMN THAT WAS INSTALLED IN THE 2010 CHEVY MALIBU. THIS RECALL WAS POSTED IN JULY. WITH THE TROUBLE GM HAS BEEN THROUGH THEY SHOULD BE ON A BETTER HONOR SYSTEM. THIS CAR WAS MANUFACTURED BY GENERAL MOTORS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BY GENERAL MOTORS WHO SHOULD BE REIMBURSED BY DORMAN. DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM BULB NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OFTEN. IVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 4 YEARS, SINCE NOVEMEBER 2013, AND IVE CHANGED THE LOW BEAM BULB AT LEAST 6 TIMES. IVE USED DIFFERENT LIGHTBULB MANUFACTURERS. THEREFORE, I BELIEVE ITS NOT THE BULBS ITSELF, BUT RATHER AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. IVE ALSO CHECKED THE LOW BEAM FUSE EACH TIME THE LIGHT HAD GONE OUT, AND THE FUSE WAS STILL GOOD, BUT I CHANGED IT ANYWAY. THIS HAPPENED WHEN CAR WAS IN MOTION, IDLING, AND UPON BEING STARTED.

I OWN A 2010 CHEVY MALIBU WITH THE DEFECTIVE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ISSUE. AFTER A PHONE CALL AND WAITING SEVERAL DAYS FOR A RETURN CALL FROM GM HELP DESK I CALLED BACK AND WAS INFORMED TO BRING MY CAR TO A LOCAL CHEVY DEALER TO CONFIRM THAT I HAVE THIS SAME ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ISSUE. IT WAS VERIFIED THAT I DO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE THAT THOUSANDS OF CARS ARE BEING RECALLED ABOUT. HESITANT, I DID DO THE REPAIR OF $996. AFTER A WEEK OF CALLING GM SUPPORT WITH ESCALATING MY SITUATION AND MANY UNRETURNED PHONE CALLS I WAS PERSISTENT IN CALLING BACK. UNFORTUNATELY EVEN THOUGH THIS IS THE CONFIRMED ISSUE AS THE RECALL BULLETIN 14116 FOR THE DEFECTIVE POWER STEERING THAT IS COVERED ONLY UNTIL 2009. MY 2010 IS NOT COVERED AND THERE IS NO RECALL BULLETIN ANYONE IS AWARE OF THAT WILL COVER THIS ISSUE FOR THE REASON MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT COVERED. I WAS TOLD IT COULD TAKE YEARS, IF IT EVER WILL HAPPEN AT ALL. AT FIRST I LOST POWER STEERING WHEN TRAVELING HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY. NOW THE POWER STEERING FAILS WITH JUST SHORT TRIPS AROUND TOWN. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY FOR MY WIFE. SHE DOES NOT HAVE THE STRENGTH TO TURN THE WHEEL AT SLOW SPEEDS. I DO NOT WANT TO PAY ACCIDENT SURCHARGES ON TOP OF THE REPAIR BILL FOR THIS ISSUE. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING BOX RELATED TO THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) AND THE STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSOR. THE STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSOR CANNOT BE REPLACED AT THIS TIME (OR MAYBE NEVER). THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN MUST BE REPLACED. THIS IS AT A VERY COSTLY EXPENSE WHEN A CHEAPER REPAIR IS AN OPTION. I RESEARCHED A CAR OWNER WHO HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN THREE TIMES DUE TO FAILURE OF THE POSITION SENSOR AND THERE IS NO RECOURSE FOR US CONSUMERS. I EXITED THE EXPRESSWAY AND STOPPED AT A GAS STATION TURNED OFF THE CAR AND WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON THE POWER STEERING WORKED AGAIN. HOWEVER, THE INCIDENT OCCURRED 3 TIMES THE NEXT DAY ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK (HOWEVER NOT ON MY WAY TO WORK THAT MORNING). EACH TIME I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO PAY OVER $600 TO HAVE MY STEERING COLUMN REPLACED. NOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR SEVERAL OF THE PREVIOUS MODELS OF THE MALIBU, BUT NOT MY 2010, ALTHOUGH I DID EXPERIENCE THIS SAME PROBLEM. I PURCHASED MY 2010 MALIBU IN NOVEMBER OF 2009. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE CLOCK WAS RESET, THE LOW ENGINE COMPRESSION, AND THE CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE JERKED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND RESUMED TO NORMAL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,401. UPDATED 10/23/14*CN THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UPDATED 10/30/14
THE ENGINE HAS AN ECO-TECH IT IS GETTING FUEL IN OIL , YOU CAN SMELL IT ON CAP. THIS IS CAUSING THE ENGINE TO BURN OIL , USE MORE GAS.THE CAR ONLY HAS 27000 MILES ON IT. EXCELLENT CONDITION. USING OIL AT AN ACCELERATED RATE, YOU HAVE TO MONITOR OR VALVES CHATTER. THE MOTOR CANT LAST IN THIS STATE, PLEASE ADD TO RECALL LIST. *TR
