TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS IMPACTED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THERE ARE THREE ISSUES THAT APPEAR TO BE RELATED: 1) BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT BEING DEPRESSED, AND STAYS ON, AND/OR DOES NOT COME ON WHEN BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED. 2)"SERVICE TRACTION" AND "SERVICE ESC" WARNINGS COME ON AND REMAIN ON. 3) CRUISE CONTROL STOPS WORKING. YOU CAN HAVE ONE, TWO OR ALL THREE OF THESE EVENTS HAPPENING AT THE SAME TIME. ANY OF THE THREE CAN OCCUR FIRST. THEY CAN OCCUR EACH TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN FOR SOME WEEKS, THEN NOT OCCUR AT ALL FOR A FEW DAYS OR OCCASIONALLY EVEN WEEKS. CAN OCCUR AFTER DRIVING FOR A FEW MINUTES, SOMETIMES AFTER AN HOUR OR MORE OF DRIVING. SEEMS TO HAPPEN IN ALL KINDS OF WEATHER CONDITIONS, HOT, COLD, WET OR DRY. HAS BEEN HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY FOR OVER A YEAR NOW, AND NOW SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN AND FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME THAN WHEN FIRST BEGAN. *TR
MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING STEERING PROBLEMS IN WHICH IT IS HARD TO STEER THE WHEEL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE MAKING TURNS AND DRIVING. ALSO, THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WARNING LIGHT ALSO DISPLAYS TRACTION CONTROL. *TR
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AT TIMES FAILED TO OPEN FROM EITHER OUTSIDE OR INSIDE. KEYFOB REMOTE PROPERLY LIFTS AND LOWERS THE LOCK KNOB LIFTER TO LOCK OR UNLOCK POSITION. MINUTES, HOURS AND ONE TIME, TWO DAYS WOULD GO BY THEN THE DOOR WOULD EVENTUALLY UNLOCKS TO OPEN. SAME FOR THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR HOWEVER, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR SINCE 2015. ALSO, THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE UNLESS I SLAM THE DOOR SHUT. I HAVE TRIED TO MAKE PROGRAMMING CHANGES ON THE DOOR LOCKING FEATURES THROUGH THE ON BOARD COMPUTER AND MOVING TRANS SHIFTIER TO DIFFERENT POSITIONS. NO SUCCESS. I HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURE TWICE (2015 & 2016) AND BOTH TIME WAS TOLD BY CHEVROLET THEY WILL NOT COVER SINCE OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO THE MILES ON MY 2010 CHEVY MALIBU. FOR ME BEING A OVER WEIGHT OLDER INDIVIDUAL ITS DIFFICULT TO EXIT AND ENTER FROM THE PASSENGER DOOR. SOMEONE ELDERLY IT WOULD MOST CERTAINLY BE IMPOSSIBLE.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON DAILY SINCE THEN AND THE DEALER TOLD MY WIFE THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS NOTHING THAN THE AIR BAGS NOT WORKING NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT,BUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME NOW. *TR
I DRIVE FOR A TAXI COMPANY THAT EXTENSIVELY USES THE 7TH GENERATION CHEVY MALIBU (2008+). A WELL KNOWN DEFECT AROUND HERE INVOLVES THE POWER STEERING SENSOR, WHICH CAN WITHOUT WARNING STOP OPERATING AND MAKE STEERING IMPOSSIBLE. THIS HAS BEEN KNOWN TO HAPPEN MOST OFTEN WHEN ODOMETER MILEAGE IS 150K+. VEHICLE MUST BE RESTARTED TO REGAIN FULL STEERING OPERATION. STEERING CAN RESUME NORMAL OPERATION WITHOUT A REPEAT OF THE ERROR, OR THE FAULT CAN BE REPEATED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT AND RANDOM PROBLEM. I BELIEVE MY COMPANY HAS NOT YET REPORTED THIS, BUT I PERSONALLY DON'T FANCY GETTING MYSELF AND POTENTIALLY MY CUSTOMERS INTO A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. ERROR 1. WARNING ERRORS ON DASHBOARD STATE SERVICE ESC, SERVICE TRACTION; NOTICED JUST AFTER OCT 2011 PURCHASE. BRAKE POSITION SENSOR REPLACED. PROBLEM STILL OCCURS ON AND OFF TO THIS DAY (APRIL 2014). TWO SERVICES HAVE NOT FIXED THIS PROBLEM. ERROR 2. CRUISE CONTROL WOULD STOP WORKING ON IT'S OWN WHILE AT HWY SPEEDS; NOTICED DEC 2011. CRUISE CURRENTLY (APRIL 2014) WILL NOT ENGAGE AT ANY SPEED. ERROR 3. BRAKE LIGHTS WILL TURN ON WITHOUT PEDAL DEPRESSION AT ANY SPEED AND CONVERSELY WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED BRAKE LIGHTS WILL TURN OFF; NOTICED APR 2012. PROBLEM STILL OCCURRING ON AND OFF TODAY (APRIL 2014) . THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD PULL TOWARD THE LEFT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND LOUD BANGING NOISES COULD BE HEARD COMING FROM THE FRONT END. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,700.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DECELERATING AND THEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE AND JERK FORWARD ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THE ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY A FUEL SAVING FEATURE OF THE VEHICLE AND THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE. DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT NIGHT WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL ON. ALL OF A SUDDEN IT TURNS OFF AND I NOTICE MY BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR. I TAP THE BRAKE ONLY TO HAVE THEM COME BACK ON. IT KEPT DOING IT FOR ABOUT 20 MILES THEN STOPPED. IT HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND CHEVY HAS FAILED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE, THE STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL COULD NOT BE TURNED IN ANY DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEM THAT CAUSES THE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE FOR NO REASON OR TO FAIL TO LIGHT UP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED 1ST "FIXED" 9/14/2011, THEN AGAIN 11/27/2012. NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. DRIVER SIDE DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED WITH MANUALLY FROM INSIDE, OR WITH THE KEY OR AUTO OPENER. DRIVER HAD TO EXIT OVER THE COUNSEL AND OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE. WHEN I TURNED IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ACTUATOR MALFUNCTION AND THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE IT. THEY DIDN'T SEEM TOO CONCERNED THAT THIS WAS A NEW ISSUE AND WHAT I BELIEVE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, IN ADDITION I HAVE HAD TO TAKE THIS VEHICLE SIX TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF THE "SERVICE AIR BAG" INDICATOR LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAD A RECALL BUT WAS NOT FIXED YET.
TRANSMISSION FORGETS HOW TO SHIFT WHEN DRIVING UPHILL AT AROUND 65 MPH AND RPMS START BOUNCING BETWEEN 2000 TO 2400 RPM. THIS WILL CONTINUE FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND TYPICALLY HAPPENS WHEN OUTDOOR AMBIENT TEMP IS ABOVE 90F. THIS PROBLEM CAUSES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ON THE HIGHWAY AS CARS ARE BEARING DOWN ON YOU AT 70 MPH PLUS AND YOUR CAR REFUSES TO ACCELERATE. THIS CAR IS A DEATH BOX AND DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. I GUESS BEFORE ANYONE WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE FIRST. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP MORE THAN 4 TIMES FOR THE ISSUE AND THEY ALWAYS SAY IT CAN'T BE REPLICATED AND HAVE REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER. THE 2010 CHEVY MALIBU IS A LEMON! THE PROBLEM BEGAN OCCURRING AFTER 1000 MILES AND WE HAVE GIVEN UP TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TO GET FIXED. IT IS OBVIOUS THEY HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO FIX IT AND REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BEFORE THE ACCIDENT THE VEHICLE HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT THE DEALER COULD NOT RESOLVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,131.

CONSUMER STATES DEFROSTER FOR CLEARING THE WINDSHIELD OF MOISTURE BUILD UP WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER HIS VEHICLE WAS SERVICED FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THERE WAS A CONSTANT ODOR OF MOLD/MILDEW COMING FROM THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE CONSTANT ODOR. EACH TIME, HE WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED, BUT IT WASN'T. FINALLY, IN DECEMBER 2011, THE HEATER CORE WAS REPLACED. WHEN THAT WAS DONE, IT RELEASED A VERY INTENSE SICKENING FOUL ODOR. DUE TO HEALTH CONCERNS, THE CONSUMER TRADED THE VEHICLE ON JULY 12, 2012. *JB
IN HOT WEATHER - OVER 90 F - ON INCLINES AT 40-60 MPH THE CAR SURGES, ACCELERATION REPEATEDLY SURGES AND HESITATES AND RPM OCCILATES RAPIDLY BETWEEN 2000-2500 RPM. PROBLEM IS INTERMITANT AND DIFFICULT TO REPRODUCE. REFERED TO BY OTHERS AS RPM BOUNCE. OCCURED APPROX 10 TIMES SUMMER 2010 AND APPROX 8 TIMES SUMMER 2011 TO DATE. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW IN MARCH 2010 AND BEGAN HAVING BATTERY PROBLEMS JUNE 2011 AT ABOUT 28,000 MILES. THE BATTERY WOULD GO DEAD RANDOMLY FROM 2 HOURS AFTER PARKING TO BEING PARKED FOR 3 DAYS. AFTER HAVING THE BATTERY TESTED SEVERAL TIMES AT 31,000 THE ESC LIGHT BEGAN COMING ON AND THE ESC CODE WAS CLEARED. AT ABOUT 32,000 THE BATTERY OVER HEATED AND BEGAN STEAMING ACID OUT OF THE BATTERY. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED YAW SENSOR SEVERAL TIMES, WHEEL SENSORS, CLOCK SPRING IN STEERING WHEEL, ABS BRAKE SYSTEM, INSTALLED A NEW COMPUTER AND REPLACED WIRING. THEY HAVE ALSO HAD GM ENGINEERS COMING FROM OUT OF STATE ON SEVERAL DAYS TO WORK ON THE VEHICLE DURING THE 9 PLUS SERVICE VISITS FOR A TOTAL OF OVER 70 DAYS OF REPAIR. THE ESC LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON AT RANDOM. DEALER ADVISED THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPAIR VEHICLE. AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES WHEN PRESSING HARD ON BRAKE PAD AND WHEN MAKING TURNS. WARNING LIGHT IN DASH STAYS ON THE WARNING LIGHT MAY GO OFF BRIEFLY WHEN DRIVING AND IT IS REQUIRED TO BRAKE HARD, BUT ILLUMINATES AGAIN WHEN BRAKE IS PRESSED. SOMETIMES, IT COMES ON DURING NORMAL DRIVING WITHOUT BRAKING. SOMETIMES IT COMES ON WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THIS MALFUNCTION MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE IF AIR BAGS ARE ACTUALLY ENGAGED AND WILL OPERATE DURING A CRASH. THE PROBLEM ONLY INCREASED AFTER BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) RECALL WAS FIXED ON THE VEHICLE. IT OCCURS EVERY 1-2 DAYS SINCE THE BCM WAS REPAIRED. ALL MODELS, BELT BAG IN THE HISTORY OF THE AIRBAGS GAS DESIGN, THE FIRST SET OF GASES USED ON THE PUBLIC WERE ALL THE WORST IN 50 DESIGN COULD FIND, AND THAT'S HOW UTAH SUPPORTED HAZ WHOOPER. THESE WERE MOSTLY OXYGEN DEPROVANT GASES, THIS SET OF GASES HAD BEEN FOUND TO BE FLAMMABLE. PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS "MUST STAY CONTAINED DURING USE" AND "MUST STAY CONTAINED UNTIL DISPOSED OF PROPERLY". THEY LOST THIS CASE UNDER FEDERAL RULING THAT SUPPORTED ONCE DELIVERED THE GAS BECOMES THAT BUSINESS' PROPRIETARY. THESE HAVE A UNIQUE GAS MIXTURE TO MORTON INTERNATIONAL AND AUTOLIV. WHEN THE EMPLOYEES LOST THEIR HAZARDOUS EXPOSURE CASE TO REMOVE THE AVAILABILITY OF HAZ WHOOPING GAS FROM 49 OTHER PRODUCTION STATES, THEY WENT TO A NEW SET OF GASES. THOSE THAT WERE ALLOWED TO RELEASE DURING USE SUCH AS: WELD GAS (ARGON) "DESIGNATED RELEASE ON PUBLIC WHILE IN USE" HELIUM (SAFE ENOUGH FOR USE IN A CHILD'S TOY) THESE WERE ALSO EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE. WHAT HAZ NEVER BEEN PROVIDED BY THIS COUNTRY IS THE CHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF WHAT THESE "MIX" GASES WILL DO THAT MAKE THEM PROPRIETARY TO AUTOLIV & MORTON INTERNATIONAL. CHEMICAL REACTION NEEDS TO BE DETERMINED ON THE "MIX" GAS CONCERNING SPONTANEITY OF THE GAS IN UNPRECIDTABLE DEPLOYMENT. TV JUST ADVERTISED THIS BELT BAG.
