DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE STALLED. UPON CHECKING THE FUSE BOX THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT FUEL PUMP FUSE HAD BLEW OUT. AS LONG AS THE CONTACT KEPT THE FUEL TANK BELOW A HALF A TANK THIS PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR. THE FUEL PUMP FUSE HAD TO BE REPLACED FOUR TIMES. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WILL SHOW INACCURATE FUEL READINGS. HE PURCHASED TWO FUEL PUMPS TO MAKE SURE EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BEFORE HE DID THIS WORK ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP. ONE OF CONTACT'S FRIENDS NOTICED ON THE INTERNET SEVERAL OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. HE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS. THE WAY HE DEALS WITH THIS PROBLEM IS TO KEEP FUEL BELOW A HALF A TANK. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATES THAT HE HAS EXPERIENCED SOME PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. A FEW DAYS AGO THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. UPON INSPECTION HE DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE LINE COMPLETELY RUSTED. HE WAS LEFT WITH ONLY SECONDARY BRAKES OR JUST THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THIS SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED ABOUT FOUR MONTHS AGO. DURING THE FIRST BRAKE FAILURE THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THREE BRAKE LINES HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY THE CONTACT AT THIS TIME. HE PLANNED TO REPLACE ALL THE BRAKE LINES. *AK
THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAS BEEN USED VERY RARELY, BUT WITH JUST OVER 40K ON IT THEY EVENTUALLY FADED OUT ENOUGH TO FAIL INSPECTION. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THAT I MUST HAVE DROVE WITH IT ON. I NEVER USED IT, YET THEY COLLECTED OVER $200 TO REPAIR A DEFECT. OVER TIME I NOTICED THE TENSION PROGRESSIVELY WEAKENED. RUSTING ON THE ROTORS IS EXTREMELY COMMON, YET GM IGNORES THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THAT IT WAS FROM CONDENSATION. IT CAUSES PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE BRAKE PADS & A ROTOR REPLACE AS A RESOLUTION(TURNING ALONE DOESN'T REMOVE THE RUST). MY OTHER FAMILY MEMBER HAVE HAD ALL THE EXACT ISSUES WITH THE SAME TYPE TRUCKS(THREE DIFFERENT 2000 GMC/CHEVY). MY ROTORS WILL BE REPLACED IN THE SUMMER, HOWEVER MY BRAKING IS REDUCED DUE TO RUST WEARING THE PADS UNEVENLY. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP TO HAVE RECALL REPAIRS PERFORMED ON THE ABS. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID IS 05V379000. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL HAVING THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEMS AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR A PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE IT WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP FOR INSPECTION. UPON INSPECTION THE PROBLEM WAS THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL HUB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPAIRS WERE MADE, THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT HEARD ABOUT A RECALL THAT WAS ON THE WHEEL HUB. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID IS 00X001000. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED THE VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
DT: 2000 , CHEVROLET SILVERADO EXTENDED CAB. WAS PULLING A TRAILER AND HEARD A TERRIBLE NOISE. CONSUMER PULLED OVER, FRAME HAD BROKE IN TWO. *AK THE FRAME BROKE IN THE REAR ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. *NM
WHEN GETTING MY 2000 CHEVY TRUCK INSPECTED, IT FAILED DUE TO THE PARKING BRAKE NOT HOLDING. CURIOUS I WENT TO SEVERAL INSPECTION STATION AND ASKED FOR AN INSPECTION. THE FOUR SHOPS I APPROACHED ALL ASKED IF I HAD MY PARKING BRAKE FIXED BEFORE THEY WOULD INSPECT IT. WHEN SPEAKING TO A MORITZ CHEVY (IN FT. WORTH, TX) DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT IF YOU DON'T USE THE PARKING BRAKE IT WILL SHIFT AND NOT WORK. AND WORSE THEY SAID IT COULD RUB THE OTHER ROTORS AND EVENTUALLY NEED REPLACING. ALL THIS FROM SOMETHING THAT IS NEVER USED IN THE CAR. SHOULD I HAVE THE AIR BAG INSPECTED SINCE I NEVER USE IT? HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HURT OR WORSE? EVERYONE APPARENTLY KNOWS THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE PARKING BRAKE EXCEPT FOR CHEVY. WHY IS THAT? HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THEY WILL LISTEN? *JB
I AM RESPONDING TO THE CURRENT INVESTIGATION OF THE BRAKING PROBLEM INVOLVING THE ABS SENSOR. I HAVE A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. VEHICLE. I CALLED THE DEALER ON 05/30/05 FOR THE ABS ACTIVATION AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN BRAKING. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED REMOVING ANY RUST FROM ABS SENSOR SURFACE FOR A COST OF ABOUT $240. I GET A PULSTATION KICKING BACK ON BREAK PEDAL AND ARE UNABLE TO STOP. THE VEHICLE IN UNFIT TO DRIVE AS IS AS I'VE COME VERY CLOSE TO HITTING PEOPLE AND THE REAR ENDS OF VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME AS I TRY TO STOP AT INTERSECTIONS. THIS IS A DEADLY SITUATION AND REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION TO THOSE WHO OWN THIS VEHICLE. IF ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT ME.
2000 CHEVY SILVERADO HAS ANTI-LOCK BRAKING PROBLEM UNDER 5MPH. SEVERAL NEAR CRASHES OR REAR-ENDERS HAVE OCCURED. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PUMP THE BREAKS TO AVOID THE SYSTEM (ABS) BEING ACTIVATED AND HAVE AN ACCIDENT!
DT: THE CONSUMERS ABS SYSTEM, FAILED. WHEN COMING TO STOP AT SLOWER SPEEDS THE ABS KICKS IN ,AND IT WILL NOT STOP WITHIN IN 5 OR 6 FEET OF TRAVEL. CAN'T RELY ON IT. THE LIGHT DID COME ON, BUT NOT ALL THE TIME, ONLY ON SLOWER SPEEDS. I HAVE A 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO. THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ARE MALFUNCTIONING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE TRUCK HAS A HARD TIME STOPPING ON DRY PAVEMENT, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ACTIVIATE. FROM THE INFORMATION I HAVE AND TALKING WITH OTHER CHEVY TRUCK OWNERS THE PROBLEM IS RELATED TO THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS. I PULLED THE FUSE ON THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, NOW THE TRUCK STOPS FINE. THIS PROBLEM REALLY CONCENRNS ME. I UNDERESTAND, BASED ON A DETROIT NEWS ARTICLE, THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS RECALLED IN CANADA. WHY IS THIS NOT BEING RECALLED IN MICHIGAN AND OTHER SIMILIAR STATES THAT USED SALT IN THE WINTER TIME? BASED ON THE ARTICLE, THE CAUSE TO THE PROBLEM IS THE CORROSION CAUSED BY THE SALT. THANK YOU,
BRAKE FAILURE AT LOW SPEED
LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BREAKS WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE
DT: CONTACT STATES VEHICLEWAS IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE BRAKES FAILED. CONTACT STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT GO DOWN. WHEN PRESSED THE BRAKES WERE HARD AND STAYED IN THE UPWARD POSITION. THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED. *AK *NM
DT: CONTACT STATES: HE IS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE ABS BRAKING PROBLEM THAT IS CURRENTLY BEING INVESTIGATED BY GM. HE HAS HAD AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING THE ABS PROBLEM. HE WAS GOING APPROX. 33 MPH WHEN HE APPLIED THE BRAKES AFTER SLOWING DOWN TO APPROX. 11 MPH AND HE DID NOT HAVE ANY BRAKES. HE GLIDED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF HIM. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. GM PAID FOR THE REPAIR COST AND THE RENTAL CAR; BUT HE WANTS THE DAMAGE DONE TO HIS CAR PAID FOR BY GM. HE HAS HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS. HE HAD NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS PUT ON AT 45,000 MILES. *NM THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) FAILED DUE TO CORRODED BRAKE SENSORS. *TT
2000 CHEVY SILVERADO, ANTI-LOCK BRAKES (ABS) COMPUTER MALFUNTION. ABS COMES ON DURING NORMAL DRIVING AND BRAKING! HAD TO PULL FUSE TO KEEP ABS FROM MALFUNTIONING. UNABLE TO STOP AT SOTP SIGNS AT ALL WITH ABS CONNECTED.
WHEELS ON 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO WERE SQUELLING AND CHIRPING WHILE DRIVING. TRUCK HAS 54,000 MILES ON IT. TOOK TRUCK TO BRAKE SPECIALIST WHO FOUND ALL ROTORS AND CALIPERS BADLY RUSTED. 2 CALIPERS WERE FROZEN UP. THEY ADVISED GM USED ROTORS W/O CHROMIUM IN THEM TO RETARD RUST. PARTS ARE BEING REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. ESTIMATED REPAIRS JUST UNDER $1900.00. I HAVE ASKED FOR THE PARTS TO BE GIVEN TO ME. UPDATED 12/22/05. *JB
COULD NOT GET 2000 CHEV SILVERADO Z-71 SAFETY INSPECTION DONE DUE TO PARKING BRAKE NOT WORKING. TECHNICIAN SAID HE HAS FAILED NUMEROUS CHEV TRUCK FOR THIS. LOCAL DEALER SAID IT WAS A MFG PROBLEM AND WOULD COST BETRWEEN $280 TO $880 TO FIX AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL DONE ON THIS MODEL.
WHEN I'M GOING AT SLOW SPEEDS AND HIT THE BRAKES QUITE OFTEN THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WILL COME ON FOR NO REASON. THIS HAS LED TO MANY CLOSE CALLS REGARDING ACCIDENTS.
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRYING TO STOP VEHICLE HE PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT DID NOT ENGAGE. THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THERE WAS NHTSA RECALL 05V379000 CONCERNING ABS BRAKE FAILURE. *AK UPDATED 2/7/2006 - THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMED TO PUSH BACK AS IT WAS APPLIED AND THAT THE TRUCK FELT AS IF IT WERE ON ICE. ABS BREAKS KICKING IN WHEN VEHICLE IS ALMOST COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST HIT A FEW VEHICLES.
ABS BRAKES KICK IN DURING LOW-SPEED (LESS THAN 10 MPH) BRAKING. THIS IS HAPPENING DURING EVERY STOP, SOMETIMES RESULTING IN THE IN-ABILITY TO STOP THE VEHICLE.
DT CONTACT STATED THAT ALL THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE LINES BROKE. WHEN THE BRAKE WAS PRESSED IT PULSATED AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. *NM
ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION, MY 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO (1500) PICK UP TRUCK FAILS TO STOP AT LOW SPEEDS <20 MPH. THE CAUSE IS THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM ACTIVATES, REGARDLESS OF ROAD CONDITIONS AND MAKES THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY "HARD". AT TIME OF THIS COMPLAINT, SERVICE WORK HAS NOT BE COMPLETED; THEREFORE, I HAVE NO INFORMATION ON PARTS.
I PURCHASED MY 2000 CHEVY MALIBU WITH 8,000 MILES AND STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH IT UNTIL RECENTLY. EVEN THOUGH I FAITHFULLY CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 3,000 MILES I AM NOW EXPERIENCING MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH 65,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WHICH I AM STILL PAYING OFF. I WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT GMC HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE THAT IS IN MY VEHICLE. IT NOW HAS AN INTAKE VALUE FAILURE AND PISTON PROBLEMS. I HAVE OWNED MANY OTHER VECHILES AND AS LONG AS I MAINTAINED THEM THEY RAN GREAT UNTIL 100,000 PLUS MILES. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM AND WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON THIS ENGINE? NOT IMPRESSED. I THOUGHT GOING GMC WOULD GIVE ME A RELIABLE VEHICLE. I NOW HAVE TO PUT IN OVER $1,000 OR REPLACE THE ENGINE FOR $3,000 TO $4,000. WHEN I GO TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHILE I WILL KEEP THIS IN MIND!!!!!
I WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISION AND RECEIVED A COMPOUND FRACTURE TO MY RIGHT FEMUR BONE, 2 BLACK EYES AND FRACTURED RIBS DUE TO THE INACTIVATION OF THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGER AIRBAG MODULES, ALSO THE STEERING WHEEL BENT RESEMBLING AN AIRPLANE WHEEL. MY WIFE CHECKED THE INTERNET AFTER THE INCIDENT AND FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG MODULE ON THE YEAR OF MY 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TRUCK. WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS BEFORE THE INCIDENT, BUT ARE CURRENTLY RECEIVING UPDATES TODAY. DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS. THE TRUCK IS NOW IN A STORAGE YARD AND WE ARE AWAITING THE RESPONSE FROM THE INSURANCE ADJUSTOR.
ANTI LOCK BRAKES KICK IN WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TRY TO STOP MY CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 PICKUP TRUCK. AFTER IT HAD HAPPENED A FEW TIMES I DID NOT THINK ANYTHING OF IT AND THOUGHT MAYBE THE BRAKES HAD BEEN EXPOSED TO GREESE OR SOMETHING. I EVENTUALLY WOUND UP REAR ENDING A VEHICLE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PARK BEHIND IT IN A MALL PARKING LOT. IT COST MY INSURANCE COMPANY 600.00 AND I AM SURE THAT THIS WILL IMPACT MY INSURANCE COSTS. I RECENTLY HEARD THAT THE GONVERNMENT WAS LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE AND GM HAD DONE A RECALL IN CANADA FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I AM FRUSTRATED WITH GM AND CURRENTLY HAVE THIS TRUCK FOR SALE AND WILL BE CONTACTING THEM TO REQUEST THAT THEY FIX IT. IF THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO REPAIR IT THEN I WILL BE CONSIDERING TAKING THEM TO COURT TO RECOVER THE COST MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND HOPEFULLY KEEP MY INSURANCE FROM INCREASING. SAME SYMTOMS AS DESCRIBED IN ACTION # PE05020 ABS SYSTEM ENGAGES WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AT SLOW SPEED, SUDDENLY THEIR IS MINIMUM BRAKING, AND STOPPING DISTANCE IS INCREASED GREATLY! VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND DEALER SAYS SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE "FIXED".

I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON 11/06/03 FOR THE ABS ACTIVATION AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN BRAKING. THE DEALER REMOVED FRONT CALIPERS AND ROTORS AND ABS SENSORS AND CLEANED RUST AWAY FROM THE MOUNITNG SURFACE FOR THE SENSOR PER BULLETIN #02-05-25-006A. PROBLEM RECENTLY RETURNED WHEN BRAKING. YOU GET A PULSTATION KICKING BACK ON BREAK PEDAL AND ARE UNABLE TO STOP. LAST WEEK I ALMOST RAN INTO FRONT OF A HOLLYWOOD VIDEO STORE WHEN PULLING UP. I HAD TO PRESS THE EMERENGCY BRAKE TO STOP. I WAS PREPARED BECAUSE IT ALSO HAPPEN A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE IN ANOTHER PARKING LOT AT THE FITNESS GYM. I REPLACED THE ABS SENSOR (DRIVER'S SIDE) MYSELF ON 5/2/05. THE COST OF THIS WAS $120.55. DEALERSHIP ONLY HAD ONE IN STOCK, WANTING TO REPLACE THEM BOTH BECAUSE THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THIS A CURRENT PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED. TURNED INTO A CONVENIENCE STORE AND BRAKE PEDAL WAS FIRM. CRASHED INTO A BOLLARD NEXT TO BUILDING AND DENTED FRONT BUMPER.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING MODULATOR VALVE AND MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ARE NOT FUNCTIONING.
WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH THE SPARE TIRE CABLE BROKE, CAUSING THE SPARE TIRE TO FALL OF THE SPARE TIRE HOLDER. THIS COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT IF THERE WAS A VEHICLE DRIVING BEHIND THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE. *AK *SB *NM
I TO HAVE HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE /ABS SYSTEM.RIGHT KNOW IT IS NON FUNCTIONABLE BECAUSE OF A $1500 FAILURE OF THE PUMP/EBCM.THE STOPPING DISTANCE IS HORRIBLE AND THE FAILURE OF GM TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND REPAIR THE ENGINE NOISE(PISTON SLAP)IS UNACCEPTABLE.
CONTACT STATES: THE THROTTLE CONTROL CLOSES. IT WAS REPLACED WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED. THE CAR HAD APRROXIMATELY 15000-20000 MILES. THE THROTTLE CONTROL CLOSES ABOUT EVERY SIX MONTHS. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER FOOT IS OFF THE ACCELERATOR OR A STOP. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MR.BILLY PAYS FOR IT TO BE CLEANED.

ROLLED DOWN PASSENGER WINDOW TO TALK TO NEIGHBOR, WINDOW WOULD NOT GO BACK UP - BECAME INOPERABLE. HAD TO TAKE APART DOOR AND FORCE WINDOW UP AFTER MAJOR SNOW STORM. HAVE NOT REPLACED AT THIS TIME.
SILVERADO 1500 4WD STEERING GEAR BOX DEFECT IN THAT IT STARTS TO GRIND AND THREATENS FREEZE UP AND POWER STEERING LOSS USUALLY WHEN ATTEMPTING LEFT TURN. DEALER HAS ALREADY REPLACED 2 UNITS. THE ORIGINAL WAS REPLACED AT 81,000 MILES. THE SECOND AT 96,000 AND NOW IT'S BAD AGAIN AT 120,000 MILES. DEALER STATES THAT IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT THAT WAS CORRECTED FOR THE 2008 MODELS. PICTURE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN WITH FULL POWER STEERING BUT IF YOU TURN LEFT IT WILL GRIND AND WINE AT FIRST, GRADUATING TO TRYING TO MAKE THE LEFT TURN AS IF THE ENGINE HAD DIED OUT. THAT'S HOW BAD IT GETS. IT WILL, AND I'M SURE, IT ALREADY HAS CAUSED ACCIDENT PROBLEMS. QUESTION IS, WHY DID THE ORIGINAL STEERING BOX LAST MORE THAN 80,000 MILES BUT THE REPLACEMENTS BARELY MAKE 15,000 MILES?? MIND YOU THESE ARE OEM REPLACEMENTS DONE BY THE DEALER. FURTHERMORE, THE REPLACEMENTS AR ONLY WARRANTIED FOR 1 YEAR OR 12,000 MILES. HOW CONVENIENT HUH? THIS ISSUE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM AND NEEDS TOTAL RECALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! 04 V 129 000/TAILGATE SUPPORT CABLE: WHILE OPENING THE TAILGATE, BOTH SUPPORT CABLES BROKE AND THE TAILGATE DROP COMPLETELY DOWN. NO INJURY WAS REPORTED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THEIR VEHICLE VIN # WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *NM *SC *JB
THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE BROKE WHICH DOES NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH SUPPORT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING WHILE PARKED ON A HILL. CONSUMER NOTIFIED MANUFACTURER.*AK
ABS WARNING LIGHT STARTED COMING ON AND OFF AT RANDOM WHILE DRIVING. RANDOMLY WHEN PULLING SLOWLY UP TO INTERSECTION TO STOP, ANTILOCK BRAKES WOULD ENGAGE AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP BUT INSTEAD ROLL OUT INTO INTERSECTION. IMEDIATE FIX WAS TO RELEASE BRAKES AND RE-APPLY REPEATEDLY TO GET VEHICLE TO STOP. LONG TERM "TEMPORARY" FIX WAS TO REMOVE 60 AMP ABS FUSE TO DISABLE ABS ALL TOGETHER. (FOUND THIS SOLUTION ON INTERNET) READ A TIP ON THE INTERNET THAT STATED PROBLEM WAS WITH THE SPEED SENSORS AND CORROSION OR RUST BUILDING UP AROUND SENSORS. REMOVED BOTH SENSORS AND SAW NO CORROSION. REPLACED SENSORS AND AM CURRENTLY DRIVING WITHOUT ANTILOCK BRAKES. (ABS LIGHT AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHT ARE NOW PERMANETLY LIT AS A RESULT OF REMOVING THE 60 AMP FUSE.)
LEFT FRONT POWER WINDOW STOPPED WORKING IN THE DOWN POSITION.. DOOR HAD TO TAKEN APART IN THE RAIN AND WINDOW PUSHED UP TO CLOSE. DRIVER'S WINDOW MOTOR AND REGULATOR ASSEMBLY REPLACED.
WHEN DRIVING THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS WILL LIGHT UP. TOOK TRUCK TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE PUT IT ON A COMPUTER AND THE COMPUTER GAVE A CODE THAT A RELAY IS BAD WHICH IS BUILT ONTO THE TRUCKS MAIN COMPUTER BOARD. NO WAY TO REPLACE IT EXCEPT TO REPLACE THE COMPUTER WHICH IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO REPROGRAM IT. MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT WHEN ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON THAT YOUR ABS BRAKES WILL BE DISABLED. TALKED TO A LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PARTICULAR MATTER. THEY TOLD ME NO. NO RECALLS WILL BE ISSUED UNLESS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH MORE THAN ONE VEHICLE HAVE BEEN REPORTED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE DID A LOT OF SEARCHING AND TALKED TO MANY MECHANICS AND THEY HAVE CAME ACROSS MANY SILVERADO AND TAHOE VEHICLES HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. TO ME IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE PART OF YOUR BRAKE FUNCTION IS ENABLED. *TR
ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, WHICH IS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A ROLLING STOP. OWNER WILL BE TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR THE SECOND TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.*AK
MY 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO K2500 , VIN [XXX], PURCHASED IN DECEMBER 1999, HAD A HYDRAULIC POWER, LOSS RESULTING IN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO SECURE THE VECHICLE AND CALL A TOW TRUCK AND TOWED TO DELERSHIP. NHTSA HAS A RECALL 05V-005000 FOR THIS MODEL AND YEAR, HOWEVER IT DOES NOT COVER MY VIN. CONTACTED GM TO SEE IF THEY WOULD REPAIR THIS UNDER THE RECALL AND THEY REFUSED. IT APPEARS THERE ARE MORE VECHICLES WITH FAULTY POWER STEERING PUMPS THAN THE RECALL COVERS. REQUEST YOU REVIEW THIS RECALL.
