WHILE APPLYING BRAKES FROM LOW SPEEDS, THE ABS SYSTEM FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. *AK THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW HAD DIFFICULTY GOING UP AND DOWN, THE BRAKES WERE MUSHY, THERE WAS GRINDING IN THE REAR DUE TO ROTOR DELAMINATION, THE DOOR LOCK PASSENGER SIDE WAS INOPERATIVE, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR. *SC
ACCELERATOR STICKS IN IDLE POSITIONS AND REQUIRES GREAT FORCE TO DEPRESS RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE LUNGING FORWARD OR BACKWARDS DEPENDING ON GEAR SELECTION...EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN IN TIGHT AREAS.*AK THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY, BUT SAME PROBLEM HAS REACCURRED. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT GM SHOULD CORRECT, AS IT OBVIOUSLY IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM.
MY VEHICLE HYDROPLANED FROM THE LEFT LANE INTO THE RIGHT LANE. THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE IMPACTED A VEHICLE IN THE RIGHT LANE, MY VEHICLE THEN CONTINUED INTO A RETAINING WALL ON THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. I IMPACTED THE RETAINING WALL HEAD ONAT APPROX 35 MPH. MY VEHICLE WAS THEN STRUCK IN THE PASSENGER SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN THE ACCIDENT.*AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION WHILE DRIVING AT 25-30 MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. RECALL 02V178000 WAS ISSUED. MANUFACTURER WAS NOT WILLING TO ASSIST THE CONSUMER. *AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE ROTORS AND BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
CHEVROLET 3500 VAN 2000, CALIPERS AND ROTORS DEFECTIVE. *BF THE BRAKES FAIL EVERY 600 TO 1000 MILES. *JB
WHILE DRIVING BRAKE LINE BUSTED DUE TO CORROSION. *AK ALL THE BRAKE LINES TO THE FRONT WHEEL AND FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER WERE UNSAFE DUE TO CORROSION. *NM
VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR REPLACEMENT OF BRAKES AND ROTORS. FEW WEEKS LATER, THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. COST WOULD BE $400.00 SINCE IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY.*AK
DT: ANTI LOCK BRAKES ACTIVATED AT SPEEDS OF 5-10 MPH, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. BRAKES FAILED ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME. FIRST BEGAN IN NOVEMBER 2004, AND PROBLEM BECAME WORSE. NO BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON. HAPPENED UNDER ANY WEATHER CONDITIONS. VEHICLE WAS REGULARLY SERVICED AND SERVICE RECORDS WERE AVAILABLE.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL GAUGE WAS PROVIDING AN INACCURATE READING. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR OTHER VEHICLE MODELS FOR THIS PROBLEM. THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE MODEL WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE SERVICE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE FUEL GAUGE SENSOR. WHEN HE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, THEY SAID THE RECALL WAS FOR A WIRING ISSUE NOT A FUEL GAUGE SENSOR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED.*AK UPDATED 12/27/05. *JB
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT AN ABS BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THEY WILL CHATTER AND VIBRATE, AND WILL NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO SUGGESTED THAT CONSUMER TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT INSPECTED. CONSUMER HAD IT INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM HAD NOT YET BEEN IDENTIFIED.*AK NEARLY REAR ENDED AN AUTO AT A STOP LIGHT AND RAN COMPLETELY THROUGH 2 STOP SIGNS. ANTI-LOCK BRAKE FAILURE. *BF *NM
THERE WERE NO UNUSUAL EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM IN MY TRUCK. THE SYSTEM WOULD FAIL TO OPERATE PROPERLY AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THE FAILURE IS THAT THE SYSTEM ENGAGES UNNECESSARILY AT LOW SPEEDS, CAUSING THE VEHICLE NOT TO STOP WHEN DESIRED. IT WOULD HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES DAILY, AND THE ONLY CRASH I DID NOT AVOID WAS INTO A CHAIN LINK FENCE, WHICH DID NOT CAUSE DAMAGE. HOWEVER, THERE WERE SEVERAL NEAR MISSES. THE CORRECTIVE ACTION THAT I TOOK WAS TO REMOVE THE FUSE FOR THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. THE CORRECTIVE ACTION THAT MY DEALER SUGGESTED WAS TO SPEND $500 REPLACING THE FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSORS. HE SAID THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE ON THE CHEVROLET SILVERADO, AND THAT MY PROBLEM WOULD ONLY GET WORSE. GM HAS ISSUED A TSB ON THIS ISSUE, BUT NOT SAFETY RECALL. I FEEL THAT SINCE I HAVE LURCHED INTO BUSY INTERSECTIONS, LURCHED FORWARD IN CROSSWALKS, AND COME CLOSE TO CRASHING INTO OTHER VEHICLES WHILE PARKING, THIS SHOULD BE REGARDED AS A SAFETY ISSUE.*AK
THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS WHEN STARTING OUT, CAUSING TOO MUCH THROTTLE AND SURGING WHEN THE PEDAL FINALLY BREAKS FREE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC OR WHEN ROADS ARE SLICK. *JB
EXCESSIVE TICKING AND ENGINE NOICE DURING COLD START UPS. I WAS TOLD, BY CHEVROLET SERVICE THE TICKING WAS NORMAL BUT SHOULD NOT LAST MORE THAN 1 MINUTE. HOWEVER AFTER DIGANOSING THE PROBLEM, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT MY 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 HAS A BAD LIFTER. THIS AFTER ONLY 38000 MILES. I FILED A CLAIM WITH CHEVROLET THEY REFUSED TO PICK UP ANY OF THE $1300. IN REPAIR COSTS. MY TRUCK HAS A VORTEX V6, WHICH GM HAS BEEN MANUFACTURING IN EXCESS OF 20 YEARS. THE BUGS SHOULD BE WORKED OUT BY NOW, BUT AFTER READING THE NUMEROUS COMPLIANTS, WITH REGARD TO THE SAME PROBLEM, THE BUGS CLEARLY HAVE NOT BEEN WORKED OUT.*AK
1. BRAKE ROTORS RUSTED FROM THE INSIDE. NO WAY TO TURN THEM. HAD TO REPLACE. 2. ANTI-LOCK SENSORS RUSTED. ALMOST CAUSED ME TO CRASH. 3. PLEASE DON'T LET THEM STEER YOU AWAY FROM THE ROTOR PROBLEM. IT'S A LOT BIGGER THAN THE SENSOR PROBLEM. 3. I TALKED TO GM ABOUT BOTH PROBLEMS. GOT NO HELP. THEY LET ON LIKE THEY DIDN'T KNOW OF ANY PROBLEM WITH THEIR BRAKES. I KNEW THEY LYING. 4. PLEASE MAKE SURE TENNESSEE IS INCLUDED AND ALSO THE ROTOR PROBLEM. MINE IS A 2000 SILVERADO. THANKS
SINCE I BOUGHT MY 1500 SERIES TRUCK I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM WHICH THE DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. ON 10-21-04 WHILE PULLING INTO MY WORK LOCATION MY BRAKES FAILED TO STOP MY TRUCK AND RAN INTO A CHAIN-LINKED FENCE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE HOOD, LIGHT LENSES, AND BUMPER. A COUPLE DAYS LATER MY BRAKES FAILED AGAIN PUTTING ME IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WITH A TRUCK SKIDDING TOWARD ME. I HAVE JUST HAD MY TRUCK INSPECTED AND THE DEALER PASSED MY TRUCK. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN HITTING THE BRAKES VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY KEPT MOVING. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER TO BE LOOKED AT. HOWEVER, THE SENSOR LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE. FOUND THAT IT WAS THE ABS SYSTEM. *AK
I HAVE STARTED TO EXPERIENCE A PROBLEM WITH MY ABS SYSTEM ON MY 2000 CHEVROLET 1500 SILVERADO. WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT SLOW SPEEDS THE ANTI LOOK BRAKES WILL ACTIVATE AND BRAKING IS LOST FOR A MOMENT. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THE CAUSE OF THIS IS DIRT GETTING INTO THE FRON ABS SENSORS. I ALSO DISCOVERED THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE SILVERADO.*AK
I OWN A 2000 CHEVY 1500. I HAVE HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM. AT LOW SPEEDS THE ABS WILL KICK ON AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP. I HAVE ALMOST CREATED AN ACCIDENT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO THE DEALER AND THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS COMMON ISSUE.*AK
THE REAR BRAKE ROTOR DETERIORATED PREMATURELY. AS A RESULT, THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE . *JB
INTERMITTENTLY THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD BECOME STIFF AND LOCK UP WHEN BRAKING 5-65 MPH. AT 60,000 MILES THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP. THE MECHANIC CLEANED BOTH ABS SENSORS. NOW AT 70,000 MILES, THE PROBLEM HAD RETURNED. *JB
DT: THE CONTACTS COMPLAINED ABOUT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE DASHBOARD BOARD GAUGES WERE INCORRECT. THIS HAPPENED EVERY TIME THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN USE. EVERY LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD CAME ON. THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE PAST WEEK. ALSO, HE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED STARTING PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE SOMETIMES WILL NOT START THE FIRST TIME WHEN TRYING TO START IT. THE CONTACT HAS TO WAIT ABOUT 20 MINUTES THEN START THE VEHICLE AGAIN. THE BATTERY HAS BEEN CHECKED AND IT WAS CHARGING. THIS HAS BEEN AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM FOR A YEAR. SHE SPOKE TO GM, AND THEY SAID TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. SHE HAS NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP AT THIS TIME.*AK
CONTACT STATED: CONTACT WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FELL APART INTO PIECES. THE REPAIR SHOP REPLACED THE BRAKE SHOE PAD AND THE REAR ROTORS. ALSO, THE DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE MONITOR SPEED SENSOR WHICH INDICATED THAT THE ABS WAS OVER ACTIVE. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH VEHICLE MADE A NOISE WHILE HITTING THE BRAKES. IT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE ABS WAS APPLIED. *AK
WHILE STEERING CONSUMER NOTICED A LOUD POPPING AND GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT INTERMEDIATE SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO LACK OF DRYNESS. BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT ON RECALL. *AK
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AT ANY TIME A KNOCKING NOISE WAS HEARD. *AK
INTAKE GASKET LEAKING AT 50K MILES. *NM
CONTINUED KNOCKING FROM STEERING COLUMN. TRUCK WAS TAKING TO DEALER UNDER WARRANTY WHERE THE CLAIMED THAT THE NOISE WAS FROM THE UPPER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT LACK OF GREASE. THEY THEN GREASED THE SHAFT WHICH WORKED LONG ENOUGHT TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF WARRANTY. NOW THE KNOCKING IS BACK AND GM NOW SAIDS THAT THE SHAFT THEY GREASED NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH AN UPDATED ONE. ALL GM DID WAS TO RIGGED THIS STEERING SHAFT LONG ENOUGHT TO TAKE IT OUT OF WARRANTY. THEY NOW WANT SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR REPAIRS. ALSO THE ENGINE IN THIS TRUCK KNOCKS AND PINGS LIKE A DIESEL. I HAVE TO USE PREMIUM GAS AND THE KNOCKING AND PINGING IS GETTING WORSE. GM CLAIMS THIS NOISE IS NORMAL FOR THIS ENGINE AND BRUSHED ME OFF SAYING THEY COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT, ITS NORMAL.*AK
ABS BRAKES ENGAGE EACH TIME I COME TO A SLOW STOP( I.E. PULLING UP TO A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT) EXTENDING MY STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER STATES THAT THE ABS SPEED SENSORS AND FRONT HUBS MUST BE REPLACED BUT CANNOT TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG. THE ABS WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON ALTHOUGH ACCORDING TO THE DEALER( KELLY CHEVROLET, BUTLER, PA) THE SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING.*AK
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THE ROTORS RUSTED ON THE VEHICLE AND RIPPED THE BRAKE PADS OFF. THE VEHICLE HAD 30,000 MILES ON IT. THE BRAKES STARTED TO SQUEAL WHEN THE STEEL BACKING WAS RUBBING AGAINST THE ROTORS. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM UNDER WARRANTY; IT WAS 1 YEAR OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY FOR THE PROBLEM HIMSELF. THE MANUFACTURER STATED IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR FOR THE BRAKES TO GO OUT AT 30,000 MILES. CONSUMER ISN'T EXACTLY SURE WHEN THE BRAKES STARTED GOING BAD, BUT IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 9 MONTHS AGO. THIS SAME VEHICLE THE TAILGATE SUPPORT CABLE BROKE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, BROKE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS, NHTSA #04V129000, BUT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE CABLE WAS BROKE APPROXIMATELY 1-2 MONTHS AGO.*JB
RE CHEVROLET SAFETY RECALL FOR 2000 SILVERADO TRUCKS, DEFECTIVE STEEL TAILGATE SUPPORT CABLES. *BF WHEN THE CONSUMER CALLED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE RECALL PERFORMED, HE WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO PARTS AND HE WOULD RECEIVE A CALL ONCE THE PART(S) ARRIVED. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL LETTER AND HE CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS WERE STILL NOT IN. )RECALL#04V129000) *JB
TWO CHEVROLET 1500 SILVERADO PICK UPS, WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILURE ON BOTH. *BF BOTH OF THE VEHICLES HAD THE LEFT SIDE BRAKE INTERNAL EXPANDER BAND WORN THROUGH AND DRAGGING METAL TO METAL.
MY TRUCK EXPERIENCES ABS ACTIVATION AT LOW SPEED AS DESCRIBED IN NEWS RELEASES ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT INVESTIGATION. I HAVE NOT HAD IT REPAIRED, BUT DO STILL DRIVE IT DAILY AND THIS BRAKE ACTIVATION HAPPENS EVERYTIME I DRIVE IT. IT IS A 2000 CHEVEROLET SILVERADO. ALSO, THE TAILGATE DOES NOT LATCH PROPERLY. PLEASE ADVISE ME AS TO WHAT ACTION I SHOULD TAKE AND IS THE VEHICLE SAFE TO DRIVE.
DT: THE CONSUMER STATES THAT 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM AT LOW SPEEDS. WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS THE ABS WOULD ACTIVATE AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN CORRECTLY. THIS RESULTED IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE OWNER TOOK VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP, AND THE MECHANIC CLEANED BOTH FRONT SENSORS AND REINSTALLED THEM, AND THEN ROAD TESTED. THE TRUCK WAS FINE AT THIS POINT. THE OWNER WANTED REIMBURSEMENT FROM CHEVROLET FOR REPAIR WORK. *AK
TAILGATE SUPPORT CABLES FAILED. *AK
PARKING BRAKE ON 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 HAS WORN OUT PREMATURELY. VEHICLE HAS 50000 MILES, AND PARKING BRAKE WILL NOT HOLD AT ALL. TOOK VEHICLE TO GARAGE TO HAVE PARKING BRAKE ADJUSTED, AND AFTER ADJUSTMENT THE PARKING BRAKE STILL WOULD NOT HOLD. *AK
CONSUMER JUMPED THE CURB WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED. CONSUMER DROVE TO A REPAIR SHOP FOR REPAIRS OF THE ROTORS AND PADS. THE ROTORS AND PADS WERE REPLACED PREVIOUSLY BY THE DEALER FOR FAILURE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE ROTORS HAD BEEN DETERIORATING.*AK
TAILGATE FELL OFF WHILE PULLING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. TAILGATE WAS BEING DRAGGED WITHOUT CONSUMER'S KNOWLEDGE. RECALL 04V129000 WAS RECEIVED FOR THE DEFECT. *AK
IN MY 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO 4X4 TRUCK, WITHOUT WARNING THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AS I WAS PULLING INTO MY GARAGE AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO GARAGE CONTENTS (SHELVES, STORED GARDEN EQUIPMENT; NO DAMAGE TO TRUCK). MY MECHANIC COULD FIND NO PROBLEM AFTER INSPECTION. BRAKE FAILURE OCCURED TWICE MORE AND THEN I WENT TO THE DEALER MECHANIC. THE ABS ERROR LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. I PAID APPROXIMATELY $500 TO REPLACE DRIVER SIDE FRONT ABS SENSOR. THIS WAS IN OCT 2004 SO THE OLD PART IS NOT AVAILABLE.
DT: THE CONSUMER STATES THAT HIS 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO IS MAKING NOISE FROM THE BRAKES. THE BRAKE SENSOR WAS FAILING AND NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. AND THREE MONTHS AGO THE OWNER HAD $700.00 WORTH OF WORK DONE TO THE VEHICLE CONCERNING THE BRAKE ISSUE. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN COOPERATIVE IN DEALING WITH THIS MATTER. RIGHT NOW THE BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY AND THIS IS THE THIRD OCCASION. ALL WORK HAS BEEN PERFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP OR CERTIFIED REPAIR SHOP. THE OWNER HAS NOT TALKED TO CHEVROLET. THE DEALER CHECKED FOR ANY RECALLS, AND SAID HE WOULD GET BACK IN TOUCH WITH THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. AT THIS POINT, THE DEALER HAS NOT CALLED BACK. THE ROTORS AND PADS WERE REPLACED ON OCTOBER 6, 2004. THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT SPONGY AND MAKING A FUNNY TOWARDS THE END OF A STOP. AND THEN THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP ON APRIL 14, 2005. ON APRIL 15, 2005, THE DEALERSHIP DID $667.16 WORTH OF BRAKE REPAIR WORK. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT HAD TO DO WITH THE ABS SENSOR. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD ABOUT THE SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THE ABS THAT THE DEALERSHIP KNEW ABOUT. RIGHT NOW THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS A SPONGY FEEL TO IT. TO THE POINT THAT THE PEDAL HAS TO BE MASHED TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL COMPLETELY STOP. THE CONSUMER KEEPS TRYING TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED BUT IT SEEMS TO BE RECURRING. *NM
PARKING BRAKE HAS RARELY BEEN USED, THE TRUCK SLIPPED WHEN USED AND SLID DOWN A HILL TO HIT A TREE. WHILE DRIVING AND UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL IT FELT AS IF THERE WAS AIR IN THEM. HAD TO PUSH DOWN HARDER THAN NORMAL STOP THE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELT BEGAN TO TIGHTEN TO THE POINT WHERE IT WAS HARD TO BREATH. THE CONSUMER HAD TO UNFASTEN THE BELT TO RELEASE THE TENSION. *AK *NM

SAME ISSUE AS MHTSA ACTION NUMBER EA04011 BUT WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PARKING BRAKE BECOMES USELESS, WILL NOT CASE A CRASH, BUT THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES THAT YOU MUST USE THE PARKING BRAKE ON INCLINES. THIS IS TO AVOID A LOAD ON THE TRANSIMISSION THAT WILL MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK UNTILL STRESS IS REMOVED FROM THE TRANSMISSION. LAUNCHING A BOAT OR PARKING ON A SLIGHT HILL WITH A LOAD CAN RESULT IN BECOMING STRANDED. THE Z71 IS MARKETED AS OFF-ROAD, IF THIS HAPPENS IN REMOTE AREAS WITHOUT CELL PHONE CONVERAGE, IT COULD BECOME LIFE THREATENING. GM HAS ALREADY AGREED TO RECALL THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION VERSION, THIS NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL VERSIONS USING THIS TYPE OF PARKING BRAKE.
INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND APPLYING THE BRAKES THE REAR BRAKES FROZE AND WONT RELEASE THE BRAKES. ALSO, CONSUMER INDICATED HADA PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT BRAKES TOO. *AK
