WHEN OPENING THE TAILGATE OWNER NOTICED THE STRAPS WORE OUT PREMATURELY. A RECALL WAS ISSUED, HOWEVER THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE CONSUMERS TAILGATE SUPPORT CABLES. *TC
I HAVE HAD 6 TIRES REPLACED ON THIS VEHICLE DUE TO TIRE SEPARATION. TWO CAUSED BODY DAMAGE CHEVROET REPLACE 2 TIRES UNDER WARRANTY FOR OUT OF ROUND AT APPROX 1000 MILES. (11/2000) I REPLACED THE LEFT FRON APR 18000 MILES WITH NO DAMAGE. THE RT FRONT CAUSE 1200 IN DAMAGE TO THE RT FENDER IN 2002 AND THE RT REAT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE REAR OUTER FENDER 1500 IN DAMAGE IN APRIL 2004. GENERAL TIRE DID SEND A CHECK TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE IN WHICH I AM THANKFUL. HOWEVER I RECIEVED THE REIMBURSMENT CHECK ON 6/30/04 CLAIM#4117006. I WAS DRIVING HOME 7/1/04 AND NOTICED A VIBRATION AGAIN. ON 7/3/04 I FOUND YET ANOTHER TIRE SEPERATING SEE FILE #75617. I AM VERY UNHAPPY THAT MY VEHICLE IS BEING DAMAGED FROM THESE TIRES LET ALONE THE INCONVEANCED OF TIME FROM WORK AND RENTAL CAR EXPLENCE. I THING CONTENINTAL TIRE SHOULD REPALCE ALL OF THESE TIRES WITH SOME THING ELSE. AS IT SEAMS TO BRING BACK MEMORIES OF AN OTHER COMPANY (FIRESTONE) I AM VERY FORTUNET THAT NO INJURYS HAVE OCURED FROM THESE TIRE CONSERNS. TRUCK SHIFTED INTO 3RD GEAR FOR NO REASON THEN WOULD NOT SHIFT BACK INTO 4TH WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY ALMOST CAUSING ME TO BE REARENDED. I PURCHASED A THIS GM CERTIFIED VEHICLE FOUR MONTH AGO THINKING I WAS GETTING A BETTER THAN AVERAGE VEHICLE. I SPOKE TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY SAID THEY THEY GET A LOT OF THE SAME PROBLEMS AND I WOULD LIKE GENERAL MOTORS TO REPAIR IT SINCE THEY HAVEN'T FIXED THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 4L60 E TRANSMISSION IN THE LAST 11 OR SO YEARS THEY'VE USED IT. *AK
DT: CONSUMER STATED THE ACCELERATOR WAS STICKING IN HIS VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE WORSE WHEN THE VEHICLE HEATED UP. A CERTIFIED MECHANIC STATED IT WAS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN AT LOW SPEEDS. THE MECHANIC STATED THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JB
I HAVE A 2000 CHEVROLET, SILVERADO 2500 PICKUP TRUCK I BOUGHT NEW. WITH ABOUT 125,000 MILES . 2 MONTHS AGO I STARTED HAVING A PROBLEM. WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP THE BRAKES GO TO THE FLOOR, MAKE A HORRIBLE NOISE AND THEN THE TRUCK THRUSTS FORWARD. THE PAST TWO MONTHS THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN VERY SPORATIC. AS FEW AS 3 TIMES A WEEK AS MUCH AS 10 TIMES A WEEK. ONE TIME I WAS STOPPING AT A SIDE ROAD WAITING TO ENTER A HIGWAY AND THE TRUCK STOPPED THEN THRUST FORWARD INTO THE TRAFFIC. FORTUNATELY I DID NOT GET HIT BUT CAME CLOSE TO A ACCIDENT. THE WAY TO STOP IT IS BY THROWING IT INTO PARK. YESTERDAY I STOPPED IN FRONT OF A CUSTOMERS GARAGE AND WENT THROUGH THE GARAGE DOOR AS THE TRUCK THRUST FORWARD. I CONTACTED THE CHEVY DEALER AND HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED. NO GOOD. THEN WAS TOLD IT WAS THE POWER BOOSTER. NOT THAT. .TODAY THEY SAY IT IS THE SENSOR IN ONE OF THE WHEELS. WILL REPLACE TOMORROW.I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THAT WILL STOP IT FROM THRUSTING FORWARD. I HAVE SPEND MUCH MONEY SENSOR ALONE COSTING 600.00 AND THE GARAGE DOOR 760.00 MY BIGGEST WORRY IS FEAR OF THRUSTING FORWARD WHEN AT A CROSS ROAD. THE CAR DEALERS AND GENERAL MOTORS HOT LINE SAID THEIR IS NO PRIOR REPORT . I HOPE ITS THE SENSORBECAUSE EVERYTIME THIS HAPPENS YOU PANIC . IT IS VERY COSTLY AND COULD COST ME MY LIFE. I ALSO THINK THAT MORE CONCERN FROM THE MANUFACTURER COULD BE TAKEN . I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO IF THIS SENSOR DOES NOT WORK AS THEY SAY THIS IS THE ONLY CODE THAT CAME UP WHEN PUT ON A MACHINE. THEY PUT IT ON THE MACHINE BECAUSE SOMETIMES THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND I HAD TO GET IT TO THE DEALER WHEN IT WAS ON AS THEY COULD NOT CHECK IT UNLESS IT WAS ON. THIS WAS DIFFICULT AS THE DEALER IS 30 MINUTES AWAY. IF YOU HAVE EVERY HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE I HAVE TO SPEND MORE UNNECESSARY MONIES OR BEFORE I GET HURT. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS DRIVER'S SEAT BRACKET BROKE FROM THE VEHICLE AND CAUSED THE SEAT TO MOVE WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH. ON THE FIRST OCCASION THE PROBLEM WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. ON THE SECOND OCCASION DEALER WILL REPAIR PROBLEM AT CONSUMER'S EXPENSE.*AK THE SEAT BRACKET FAILED ALLOWING THE SEAT TO PIVOT FORWARD THROWING THE CONSUMER INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. *TC
WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY STEERING COLUMN FAILED. THIS CAUSED CONSUMER TO LOSE STEERING POWER BECAUSE THE STEERING SHAFT SNAPPED OFF THE PUMP. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. THE DRIVER WILL CONTACT THE DEALER IN THE NEAR FUTURE. *AK
JUNE OF 2004 CONTACT STATES AT 30000 MILES THE BRAKE SENSOR WENT BAD, BRAKES FAILED, DEALER REPLACED BRAKE SENSOR ON LEFT WHEEL THEN TWO MONTHS 32000 MILES REPLACED FRONT BRAKE SENSOR, LEFT AND RIGHT. BARELY AVOIDED CRASHING INTO GARAGE DUE TO VEHICLE. VEHICLE IS REGULARLY SERVICED AND CONTACT HAS SERVICE RECORDS.
WHILE DRIVING 45-55 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS REAR-END BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. PUSHING CONSUMER'S VEHICLE OFF ROAD AND INTO A DITCH, FRONT END FIRST. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK BOTH THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES. THE DRIVER INJURED HIS NECK, BACK, HIPS AND PELVIS. THE PASSENGER INJURED HER RIGHT SHOULDER, CHEST, BACK AND HIPS.
WHILE SHIFTING GEARS TRANSMISSION FAILED TO GO IN REVERSE. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE, AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A WORN OUT PARTS. *AK
CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER TO HAVE THE BRAKE PADS REPLACED, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ROTORS WERE DEFECTIVE. CONSUMER STATED THAT VEHICLE'S MILEAGE WAS LOW FOR REPLACEMENT.*AK
CONSUMER STATED TAILGATE CABLES BROKE . A RECALL WAS ISSUED. HOWWEVER THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. *AK
CONTACT STATES: CONTACT WAS DRIVING VEHICLE SLOWING DOWN TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPOT, BETWEEN 7-10 MPH, THE ABS ENGAGEMENT DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO BRAKE COMPLETELY AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THE CONTACT HIT A GUARD RAIL. NORMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS. GENERAL MOTORS BEING INVESTIGATED FOR THE BRAKE PROBLEM. GENERAL MOTOR REFUSED TO TAKE CARE OF THE BRAKE PROBLEM, THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT BUT CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT A GM DEALER SAID THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES. CONTACT UNPLUGGED THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM
ANTILOCK BRAKES "LOCKED OUT" AT 5 MPH, TRUCK ROLLED INTO A BARRIER DEALER REPLACED HUB SENSOR (TWICE) AT NO CHARGE.
DT: CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL 04V129000 CONCERNING TAILGATE: HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE GALVANIZED STEEL STRAPS WITH THE SAME TYPE OF STRAPS. THE RECALL LETTER INDICATED THE REPLACEMENT SHOULD BE STAINLESS STEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED ON THE RECALL LETTER. *AK
UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE CONSUMER NOTICED A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE DEPARTMENT WHILE DRIVING FOR 45 SECONDS TO 1 MINUTE EVERYDAY. DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. *AK
ANTI-LOCK BRAKES DON'T RESPOND IMMEDIATELY AT STOPS. LIKE YOU DON'T HAVE BRAKES AND THEN THEY SUDDENLY CATCH
THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE IS FAILING ON MY 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WHICH CAUSES A FAILURE IN THE ABS. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND ONLY OFFERED 20% COST ASSISTANCE EVEN TOUGH THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON DEFECT IN GM VEHICLES.*AK
WHILE DRIVING CABLE BROKE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE THAT HELD THE SPARE TIRE. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TAILGATE WITH THE SAME CABLE. CONSUMER FELT THAT THIS WAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SPARE TIRE CABLE. *AK
DT: 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WAS PURCHASED NEW AND AFTER 36 MONTHS THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCKED, AND WOULD NOT OPEN. THEY WERE ALL POWER LOCKS. DRIVER'S DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED, IT WOULD NOT UNLOCK WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY OR THE KEY ITSELF. TOOK VEHICLE TO A DEALER, WHO SAID THERE WAS NO WAY THEY COULD REPAIR THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT GET THE DOOR OPEN. THEY SUGGESTED CUTTING THE DOOR OFF, AND THEY WOULD SELL CONSUMER A NEW DOOR. DID NOT CONTACT GM BECAUSE CONSUMER'S FATHER WORKED FOR GM, AND COULD LOSE HIS JOB IF THERE WAS A COMPLAINT. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED UNDER EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT. AFTER ABOUT A MONTH OR 6 WEEKS OF DRIVING WHEN TAKING KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION THERE WAS A SOUND FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR-IT SOUNDED AS IF THERE WAS A PIECE FALLING FROM THE DOOR. CURRENTLY, THE DOOR IS UNLOCKED AND WILL NOT LOCK MANUALLY, WITH KEY OR POWER. NO REPAIRS WERE DONE. AS OF LAST WEEK THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH THE PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR. IT WILL NOT UNLOCK WITH KEY OR POWER, SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEM ON DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR . *AK
TAILGATE FELL OFF PICKUP CHEVY.SILVERADO PICKUP TRUCK .TTAILGATE DROPPED DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. CABLE ON PASSENGER SIDE BROKE CAUSING TAILGATE TO DROP OFF TRUCK.DRIVER SIDE DIDN'T BREAK,HOWEVER TAILGATE WAS DRAGGED ON ROAD UNTILL I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER.TRAVELING ABOUT 10 MILES PER HOUR. I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN. TAILGATE DAMAGE $ 178.00 BILL FROM COLLISION SHOP TWO NEW CABLES $ 29.23 BILL FROM CHEVY DEALERSHIP IDEAL CHEV. GENESEO NY. NEW CABLES NEED TO BE REPLACED WHEN GM COMES OUT WITH NEW REPLACEMENTS. CONTACTED CHEVROLET MOTERS AT 800-630-2438 ON JUNE 1,2004. SR31-222651780 ADVISED THAT PARTS & DAMAGED NOT COVERED AT THIS TIME. CABLES WERE RUSTED. I HAVE BROKEN CABLE. CHEVY SILVERADO 2000 NO ONE HURT HOWEVER VERY UPSETTING WHEN IT OCCURED CAN YOU HELP? WITH ONLY 52,000 MILES ON VEHICLE, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY REPUTABLE SERVICE TECHNICIAN THAT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE MUST BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $690 FOR MATERIALS ALONE. I HAVE ALSO BEEN ADVISED THE ABS SYSTEM IS INOPERABLE UNTIL THIS IS CORRECTED. I BELIEVE THIS IS VERY PREMATURE FOR THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM TO OCCUR. *MR
THE ABS BRAKES CAME ON WHEN THEY WERE NOT SUPPOSE TO WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 5 MPH AND HIT ANOTHER CAR PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE BRAKE SHOP FOR BRAKE INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED IT WAS DUE TO RUST BEHIND THE BRAKE SENSOR.*AK THE DEALER CALLED THE PROBLEM ENVIRONMENTAL AND OFFERED TO PAY 50% OF THE COST. THE RUST WAS LOCATED IN AN AREA THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE SEALED. *NM
I HAVE NOTICED THAT MY 2000 SILVERADO LEANS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DUE TO COIL SPRING DEFECT.IV'E SEEN OTHER SILVERADOS ON THE ROAD BODY STYLES BETWEEN 99-02 THAT ALSO LEANS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE.THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO AS A RECALL . *TR
THE PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT HOLD. THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR, BUT IT HAS NO EFFECT.*AK
DT: CONTACT STATES AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD. WHEN GOING AT FASTER SPEEDS AND THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED VEHICLE JERKS. THIS HAPPENS ESPECIALLY DURING THE WINTER. THE SERVICE DEALER STATED IT WAS THE HUBS. *AK CONSUMER ADDS THE RECALL TO REPLACE THE STEERING PUMP HAS MADE THE BRAKES FAIL CONSTANTLY AT LOW SPEED AND HAS CAUSED JERKING AT HIGH SPEEDS. *TT *SB
FACTORY BATTERY WITH SIDE-MOUNTED TERMINALS LEAKED ACID ONTO WIPER FLUID WELL MOUNTED BELOW IT CAUSING WELL TO CRACK AND DRAIN. DEALER REPLACED THE WIPER WELL, BUT RECOMMENDED I REPLACE THE BATTERY AS WELL. I REPLACED THE BATTERY MYSELF (INSTEAD OF LETTING THE DEALERSHIP DO IT) ON MAY 17, BUT NOT BEFORE THE OLD BATTERY HAD ONCE AGAIN LEAKED ACID AND CRACKED THE NEW WIPER FLUID WELL. OLD BATTERY CASING WAS NOT CRACKED OR OTHERWISE DAMAGED; ACID APPEARED TO LEAK DIRECTLY OUT OF THE TERMINALS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW BY EITHER AC DELCO FOR THE BATTERY ITSELF OR BY GM FOR NOT PROPERLY ISOLATING THE BATTERY FROM VIBRATION. FURTHERMORE, THE FOAM "DIAPER" THE OLD BATTERY WAS WRAPPED IN INDICATES THAT GM WAS AWARE OF A POTENTIAL LEAK ISSUE FOR THIS BATTERY. THE FOAM DOES NOTHING TO HINDER VIBRATION. MOST OF MY 40000 MILES ARE HIGHWAY MILES, AND I SELDOM GO OFF-ROADING (UNLESS THE POTHOLES ON THE INTERSTATES OF SC COUNT). AK
BATTERY WEAK, CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING. REPLACE FUEL FILTER. *BF THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TOT HE DEALER WHO SCANNED THE PCM AND FOUND DTC FOR ENGINE MISFIRE AND INJECTORS NOT DROPPING FUEL PRESSURE WHEN COMMANDED. INJECTORS 2 AND 6 WERE CLEANED. THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF ALTHOUGH THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ENGAGED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON INCLINE PARKING BRAKE FAILED, AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL BACK. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. EVOQ FILED BY: STATE FARM AGENT MARK CARR 21 TYGARG VALLEY MALL FAIRMONT WEST VIRGINIA, 26555 304-216-8569. *AK
FUEL THROTTLE HANG-UP SINCE PURCHASE IN 2000. DEALERSHIP PERFORMED CARBON CLEANING 3 TIMES HOWEVER ISSUE DOES NOT RECTIFY. MUST "POP" AT THE FUEL PEDAL IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE MOVING THUS CAUSING A LURCHING FORWARD OF VEHICLE. NO FURTHER HELP OFFERED BY DEALERSHIP OR CHEVY CORPORATE BUT TO CONTINUE TO HAVE CARBON CLEANING ($85/SERVICE).*AK
I OWN A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 4X4. THE ABS BRAKES WILL ENGAGE AT 5-10 MPH WHEN NORMAL, LIGHT PRESSURE IS BEING APPLIED TO THE BRAKES DURING A NORMAL STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL THEN DEPRESS FULLY WHEN YOU ARE NOT EXPECTING IT TO. THIS WILL INCREASE THE STOPPING DISTANCE AND IN SOME CASES I HAVE ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT EXPECTING THE PEDAL TO DEPRESS TO THE FLOOR. THE PROBLEM WILL OCCUR 5-10 TIMES A DAY AND IS BECOMING WORSE. I SENT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WANTED TO TAKE A TEST DRIVE WITH A TECHNICIAN BECAUSE NO WARNING LIGHTS OCCURED. WHEN I WAS EXPLAINING THE PROBLEM TO HIM HE KNEW IMMEDIATELY WHAT IT WAS. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE SEARCHED RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE AND THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET. I HAVE ONLY 42,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A RECALL.*AK
RECALL NO. #04V129000, TAILGATE SUPPORT CABLE: THE TAILGATE SUPPORT CABLE HAS BROKEN ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER BUT, THE MANUFACTURER INSISTED THAT THE LETTER WAS NOT A RECALL LETTER. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT AN ACTUAL RECALL LETTER IS DUE OUT THIS SUMMER.*JB
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AT A LOW SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL FORCDE ITSELF BACK UP AND CAUSED SEVERE EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE FRONT SPEED SENSOR NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. BOTH SPEED SENSORS WERE REPLACED. *TT

FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT READ CORRECTLY THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN TANK. VERY DANGEROUS FOR MULTIPLE DRIVERS OF SAME VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY FOR WOMEN WITH INFANTS AND YOUNG CHILDREN. PROBLEM BEGAN AS SOON AS I PURCHASED THE TRUCK. PROBLEM OCCURS EACH TIME VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. DEALER WANTS $700 FOR REPAIR. SEVERAL OWNERS OF SAME MODEL TRUCK HAVE DESCRIBED SAME PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A RECALL FOR OBVIOUS REASONS. *AK
MY BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK AT SLOW SPEEDS. THE ABS WOULD ACTIVATE WITH NO REASON. *AK

IN THE MEANTIME THEY TELL ME TO CLEAN THE SENSORS ON THE ANTILOCK BRAKES. THIS DOES NOT WORK. STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO.

CONSUMER WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE PARTS TO PERFORM THE TAILGATE SUPPORT CABLE RECALL 04V129000 WEREN'T AVAILABLE, AND HE WILL BE CONTACTED WHEN THEY BECOME AVAILABLE. ALMOST A YEAR LATER, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THE CONSUMER HE WAS NO LONGER WAS ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL.*AK *JB *NM
AT 36,900 MILES I HAD THE REAR AND FRONT PINION BERRINGS REPLACED ON MY DRIVE TRAIN. I ALSO REPLACED THE TIRES WHICH WERE WORN OUT. THE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVEN MUCH (4.5 YEARS OLD) AS INDICATED BY THE MILEAGE. I ALSO EXPERIENCED MY ACCELORATOR BEING "STIFF" WHEN I ATTEMPT TO DEPRESS IT. I THINK GM NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THEIR SHODDY TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS. I ALSO HAD THE REAR SEAL REPLACED AT APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES.*AK
THE CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATION PEDAL TO THE FLOOR FOR VEHICLE ACCELERATION. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE CAUSE WAS NOT DETERMINED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *NM
WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT SLOW SPEEDS (LESS THAN 3 MPH) MY ANTI-LOCK BREAKS ACTIVATE AND INCREASE MY STOPPING DISTANCE. THIS HAS RESULTED IN NEAR ACCIDENTS IN PARKING LOTS AND IN ALMOST CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO HIT THE CLOSED GARAGE DOOR OF MY HOUSE. THE CONDITION OCCURS REPEATEDLY (EVERYTIME) ON ALL TYPES OF SURFACES INCLUDING DRY SMOOTH PAVEMENT. NO SERVICE LIGHTS OR BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AT MINIMUM EXPENSE I HAVE PULLED THE ABS FUSE TO INACTIVATE THE ABS SYSTEM. THE PROBLEM HAS NEVER REOCCURRED WITH THE ABS FUSE REMOVED. NEITHER GENERAL MOTORS OR ITS DEALERSHIPS HAVE BEEN CONTACTED WITH THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT OCCURRED OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD.
THE DRIVER SIDE TAILGATE CABLE BROKE, AND THE PASSENGER SIDE TAILGATE CABLE WAS HANGING BY SOME THREADS. ALSO, PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK, AND THERE WAS A DELAY IN ACCELERATION. *AK THE TAILGATE CABLE WAS REPLACED WITH THE SAME TYPE THAT FAILED. THE FUEL GAUGE WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE FUEL SENDER/ PUMP UNIT AND ACTUATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. *NM
ALL OF THE ROTORS RUSTED AND HAD SEVERE CORROSION PRIOR TO MY TRUCK HAVING EVEN 8000 MILES. YES THAT # OF MILES IS CORRECT ONLY 8000. I WAS TOLD BY OTHER GENERAL MOTOR TRUCK GMC, TAHOE ETC SIMILAR VEHICLES THAT THIS IS NORMAL DUE TO THE POOR QUALITY OF MATERIALS USED. I HAVE PURCHASED NEW AFTER MARKET ROTORS THAT ARE NOT CORRODING AS THE ORIGINALS DID. I HAVE KEPT MY ORIGINAL ROTORS TO REMIND ME OF GM QUALITY FOR MY NEXT TRUCK PURCHASE WHICH TURNS OUT TO BE A FORD F250 2005. I REALLY THINK THAT GM SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ROTOR PROBLEM, IT IS NOT BECAUSE OF OUR CLIMATE AS I HAVE LIVED IN THE VIRGIN ISLANDS AND HAVE OWNED MANY DIFFERENT VEHICLES FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC AND HAVE NEVER SEEN ROTORS DETERIORATE LIKE ON THIS 2000 SILVERADO. THE NHTSA NEEDS TO HOLD CHEVROLET RESPONSIBLE THEY SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PURCHASE ROTORS FROM INFERIOR VENDERS AND THEN BLAME THE PROBLEM ON THE CUSTOMERS CLIMATE, I AM A FAR WAYS FROM THE NORTHERN STATES. I STILL HAVE NOT HAD MY TAILGATE CABLES REPLACED AS THE DEALER NEVER HAS THEM IN STOCK. BUT THEY ARE STILL GOOD. WHAT ABOUT MY 1996 CHEVROLET S-10 THOSE CABLES HAVE RUSTED AND BROKE AND ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. *NM

DRIVETRAIN "CLUNK OR THUNK" AS THE DEALER CALLED IT. I HAVE A 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO Z71 4X4 TRUCK. I NOTICED THE CLUNKING ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER OWNING THE TRUCK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE YOKE BUT THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED. THE TECH ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM BUT SAID IT WAS NORMAL FOR A 4-WHEEL DRIVE. THAT IS WRONG, I HAVE TALKED TO MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE 4X4 TRUCKS AND THEY DO NOT HAVE THIS SOUND WHEN STOPPING AND STARTING. I HAVE TALKED WITH PEOPLE THAT OWN 1999-2001 CHEVY'S AND MOST OF THEM HAVE THIS CLUNKING. MY MOTOR ALSO KNOCKS WHEN IT IS STARTED. THE DEALER TECH SAID AS LONG AS THE KNOCK STOPS IN A GIVEN TIME, THAT IS ALSO NORMAL. IN COLD WEATHER IT KNOCKS RIGHT UP TO THE TIME LIMIT, SO NOTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT. IF YOU TRY TO DRIVE IT SHORTLY AFTER THIS TIME, THE CONDITION IS WORSE. AGAIN, THE TECH SAID THAT IS NORMAL. THIS IS THE SAME ON THE 1999-2001 TRUCKS. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS FOR A $30,000 VEHICLE TO HAVE THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS. I AM AFRAID THERE WILL BE FAILURES AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD IS UP. THERE IS A BULLETIN FROM CHEVROLET THAT SAYS THESE THINGS ARE NORMAL SO I AM ASSUMING ANY CHEVY DEALER WILL SAY THE SAME THING.*AK

I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE OTHER NOTICES TO ARRIVE. IF THEY DON'T AND SOMETHING DOES HAPPEN CAUSINGI NJURY OR DEATH TO MYSELF AND/OR OTHERS THE MANUFACTER IS GOING TO HAVE A REALLY BIG LAW SUIT ON THEIR HANDS. I OWN A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TRUCK, THE PAST FEW MONTHS MY FUEL GAUGE HAS BEEN ERRATIC. THE TANK WILL SHOW EMPTY AT TIMES AND FULL AT OTHERS. YOU CAN'T TRUST THE FUEL GAUGE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS A BIG PROBLEM WITH CHEVROLET TRUCKS AND THAT IT WOULD COST ABOUT $1000.00 TO REPAIR. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER CHEVROLET OWNERS WITH TRUCKS AND THEY TOO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPAIRED BY CHEVROLET WITH AN ESTIMATED EXPENSE BETWEEN $1000.00 TO $1200.00. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE A PART OF THE RECALLS FOR THIS PARTICULAR TRUCK. *AK
I OWN A 2000 CHEVROLET ASTRO VAN WHICH I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE FOR OVER A YEAR BECAUSE OF MALFUNCTIONING ANTILOCK BRAKES. I BROUGHT IT TO BE REPAIRED LAST YEAR AND PAID OVER $800 FOR ONE SET OF BRAKES, THE OTHER SET STILL NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THE ANTILOCK BRAKES PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM STOPPING WHEN TRAVELING AT SLOW SPEEDS. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY PROBLEM. THERE HAS BEEN A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE SINCE 2002. THERE IS CURRENTLY AN INVESTIGATION OF THIS VERY PROBLEM ON SIMILAR CHEVY SUVS AND TRUCKS, BUT NOT INCLUDING THE ASTRO VAN.
ABS FAILING AT LOW SPEEDS. DURING BRAKING, BELOW 10MPH THE BRAKE PEDAL LOCKS UP AND FAILS COMPLETELY. BEFORE IT FAILS THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL CHATTER. ABS FUSE HAS BEEN PULLED IN ORDER TO DRIVE VEHICLE.*AK
