TRUCK VIBRATES AT HIGHWAY SPEED - DEALER SAYS ITS TIRES - GOODYEAR SAYS ITS TRUCK
BALANCING AND ROTATING OF THE TIRES WERE WEARING AND TEARING ON THE LUGS: NUTS. CONSUMER THOUGHT TIRES WERE THE PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP MECHANIC DID NOT SEE THIS PROBLEM EYE TO EYE WITH CONSUMER. *AK
REGARDING THE FIRESTONE TIRE RECALL OF 15" TIRES. ON THE NEWS LAST NIGHT(8/22/00) IN ATLANTA, GA, I SAW A LADY WHOSE FIRESTONE WILDNERNESS AT 16" TIRE SEPARATED FROM ITS TREAD, JUST LIKE ALL THOSE INCIDENTS OF THE 15" TIRE. ON MY 2000 CHEVY TRUCK I HAVE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT 16" TIRES. WHAT IS TO PREVENT THOSE TIRES FROM A TREAD SEPARATION AND CAUSING A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT!!! I HAVE THREE CHILDREN AND A HUSBAND. IT WOULD BE HORRIBLE IF A TIRE SEPARATION HAPPENED ON MY VEHICLE CAUSING MY DEATH. EVER SINCE I BOUGHT MY NEW TRUCK LAST SEPTEMBER '99, I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THOSE FIRESTONE TIRES. ONLY AFTER 4,000 MILES THE FRONT TIRES STARTED CUPPING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. NOW AGAIN, AFTER 6,000 MORE MILES(AFTER ALIGNMENTS AND TIRE ROTATIONS) THE FRONT TIRES ARE DOING THE SAME THING. I WISH TO CHANGE OUT THESE TIRES TO MICHELIN TIRES, SINCE I HAVE HAD GREAT SUCCESS WITH MY OTHER VEHICLE('96 CHEVY SUBURBAN 4X4) AND ITS MICHELIN TIRES. I'M VERY UPSET AND SCARED TO DRIVE MY 2000 CHEVY TRUCK WITH THOSE FIRESTONE TIRES ON IT. I NEED TO FIND OUT IF FIRESTONE CAN BE MADE TO REPLACE MY TIRES ON MY TRUCK ALSO. OVERALL VEHICLE IS A STEP BACK IN TIME. MANY COMPONENTS OF THIS "IMPROVED TRUCK" FAIL TO IMPRESS OR EVEN OPERATE AS THEY SHOULD, AS MILEAGE MOUNTS MORE SEEMS TO GO WRONG THIS TRUCK, TRUCK GOES BACK TO DEALER AGAIN NEXT WEEK BUT I AM TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG OR ITEM HAS BEEN FIXED BUT PROBLEM IS STILL THERE OR RETURNS SHORTLY.
THE HUB CAPS HAVE FALLEN OFF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING, CONSUMER LOST TWO HUB CAPS IN ONE WEEK. *MJS
INTERMITANT PROBLEM WHEN TAKING OFF FROM STOP THERE IS A DELAY FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO ENGAGE. 1 OR 2 SECONDS. HAS HAPPENED 5 OR 6 TIMES IN 2,500 MILES.
TIRES WILL NOT STAY BALANCED DUE TO PROBLEM WITH WHEELS. DEALER SAYS HOLE IN CENTER NOT ROUND. REPLACED TIRES AND BALANCED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT WILL NOT STAY BALANCED.
STEERING WHEEL SHAKING BAD AND LIGHT VIBRATION IN CAB ABOVE 62+ M.P.H(TOOK TO DEALER AND HAVE HAD TIRES BALANCED 3 TIMES, DEALER SAID NO FIX AT THIS TIME, I SHOULD NOT BE TOLD THIS FOR PAYING $ 30,000 FOR THE TRUCK. ( LIGHT TICKING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE IDLE TO 1000 R.P.M 'S ) DEALER SAID NO WORRY BUT WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY.

ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2000, I PURCHASED A NEW TRUCK FROM KEN DIXON OF WALDORF, MD. AFTER A DAY OR SO OF DRIVING, I NOTICED THE VEHICLE SHIMMERED. WHEN I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER IT HAD LESS THAN 500 MILES ON IT. I WAS INFORMED THAT GMC DOES NOT ALLOW REBALANCING OF TIRES UNTIL 500 MILES HAS BEEN REACHED AND WAS DIRECTED TO FIRESTONE. FIRESTONE BALANCED THE TIRES, HOWEVER THE SHIMMERING STILL OCCURS AT HIGHWAY SPEED. *AK (DOT NUMBER: NONE TIRESIZE: LT2457516)
CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN 55 MPH FRONTAL COLLISION IN WHICH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ALSO, FRONT END WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK

ALMOST ON A DAILY BASIS, THE BRAKES HAVE FAILED. THE DEALERSHIP SIMPLY CHECKS THE DRP OPERATION AND STATES THAT THE TRUCK IS ENGAGED AS DESIGNED. THESE FAILED BRAKES HAVE ENDANGERED THE LIVES OF PASSENGERS IN THIS TRUCK BY RUNNING THROUGH RED LIGHTS, WHEN IT SHOULD BE STOPPING.
THERE HAS BEEN VIBRATION PROBLEMS WITH THE TRUCK SINCE MAY. NOW WHEN HITTING A BUMP OR ANY IRREGULARITIES IN THE ROAD OR DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME, ABS SYSTEM AVANCE. TRUCK HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES FOR VIBRATION PROBLEMS. DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM, AND STATED THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL CONDITION . *AK
THE TRUCK VIBRATES WHEN YOU GO OVER 65MPH. THIS INCLUDES THE STEERING WHEEL, THE SEATS, CUP HOLDERS, ETC. THE WHOLE TRUCK VIBRATES. WE HAVE HAD IT IN 4 TIMES AND THAN THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IS HOW IT IS SUPPOSE TO RIDE.
WHILE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN AT ANY RATE OF SPEED VEHICLE SEVERELY PULLS TO RIGHT. DRIVER CONTINOUSLY HAS TO KEEP STEERING WHEEL TO LEFT FOR VEHICLE TO GO STRAIGHT, CAUSE UNKNOWN. DEALER CANNOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK

CONSUMER BELIEVES THE SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN 00X-001 WHICH CALLS FOR ATTACHING A NOTICE LABLE TO THE FRONT BRAKE HOSE STATING THAT THE CALIPERS MUST BE SUPPORTED WHEN REMOVED, CONSUMER BELIEVES THE WARNING LABLE IS USELESS. NLM

WHENEVE THE TRUCK CLIMBS A SLIGHT TO HEAVY INCLINE AT 35 TO 40 MPH IT SOUND AS THOUGH THE DRIVE TRANE IS GOING TO DROP OUT FROM UNDER THE TRUCK. THE DEALER TELLS ME AFTER 5 REPAIR VISITS THAT THIS IS NORMAL AND WITHIN GM TOLERANCES
WHEN IN OVERDRIVE GEAR AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND GOING UP A GRADE OR TINY HILL, VIBRATION WOULD OCCUR, COMING FROM DRIVETRAIN. CONSUMER COULD FEEL IT THROUGH FLOOR. DEALER REPROGRAMMED PCM, BUT DEFECT STILL OCCURRED.
DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE MIRROR EVEN THOUGH TRUCK UNDER WARRANITY AND I HAVE ADDITIONAL COVERAGE. *AK
ON SEVERAL OCATIONS THE ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM HAS ACTIVATED FOR NO REASON. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON DRY ROADS AND NO PANIC BRACKING WAS ENVOLVED. WHEN THE SYSTEM ACTIVATES , BREAKING DISTANCES BECOME MUCH GREATER THAN NORMAL ,THUS NECESSATING CORRECTIVE ACTION TO AVOID A COLLISSION. *AK

CONSUMER STATED THE PARKING BRAKE RELEASE HANDLE IS ATTACHED TO A SQUARE METAL BRACKET LOCATED ABOUT THE DRIVER'S LEFT LEG, WHEN THE LEG IS STRETCHED, THE SHIN HITS THE METAL ASSEMBLY, IN AN ACCIDENT ANY FORWARD MOVEMENT WOULD CAUSE LEG INTO THE METAL ASSEMBLY CAUSING AN INJURY. *SLC
INTERMITTENTLY DRIVER AND PASSENGER RESTRAINTS WILL NOT RETRACT, CAUSING DRIVER AND PASSENGER TO BE UNRESTRAINED. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.
ABS SYSTEM DOES NOT PERMIT THE VEHCLE TO STOP IN A SAFE OR TIMELY FASHION, UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS THE ABS SYSTEM ACTUALLY EXTENDS THE STOPPING DISTANCE OR DOES NOT STOP THE VEHICLE IN THE DISTANCE REQUIRED COMPARED TO THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ABS SYSTEM. CJ

PASSENGER'S SIDE SEATBELT KEEPS LOCKING UP, AND WILL NOT RELEASE UNLESS PASSENGER UNBUCKLES ,CAUSING A LOSS OF PROTECTION. DEALER HAS REPLACED SEATBELT ONCE, BUT DEFECT KEEPS OCCURRING. DEALER WILL NOT REPLACED IT AGAIN.*AK

CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER. *AK WIRING FOR THE TAIL LIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS IS TOO SMALL, WHEN TOWING A TRAILER, WIRING IS INADEQUATE TO HANDLE EXTRA LIGHTS, WIRES AT HARNESS LIGHT SWITCH ARE CHARGED FROM GETTING HOT, CONSUMER FEELS WIRING NEEDS TO BE HEAVIER OR USE RELAYS TO SUPPORT THE TRAILER LIGHTS. *SLC
