WHEN TRYING TO CHANGE THE SPARE YOU MUST INSERT A ROD AND TURN TO BRING THE SPARE DOWN. THE ROD FAILS TO CONNECT PROPERLY AS A RESULT YOU ARE UNABLE TO LOWER THE SPARE. WHEN ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CONTACTED THEY SAID THERE WERE MANY INSTANCES JUST LIKE OURS. THE DEALERSHIP EXPLAINED THAT THE SPARE WAS TIGHTENED TOO MUCH CAUSING THE SHAFT(WHICH PASSES DIRECTLY OVER THE TIRE) TO BEND. MY HUSBAND, DANIEL R. NORIZ, HAS A 2000CHEVY SILVERADO Z71. HIS VIN # IS 2GCEK19T6Y329756. HIS TRUCK HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. WE HAVE STOPPED TO HELP A 2000GMC SIERRA OWNER BRING HIS SPARE DOWN AS WELL. HE WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND WAS HAVING TROUBLE BRINGING HIS SPARE DOWN. MY SISTER-IN-LAW HAS A 2000 GMC SIERRA WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.*AK
FROM 10MPH AND HIGHER STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES UNCONTROLLABLY. DEALER HAS REPLACED THREE DEFECTIVE WHEELS AND TWO TIRES. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND UPON DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDAL TO MAKE A NORMAL STOP, BRAKES SLIGHTLY CATCH. BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO FLOORBOARD, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. BRAKES KICK IN, CAUSING VEHICLE TO COME TO A SKIDED STOP. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, DEALER UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK

THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ONLY HAD LIMITED REPAIR TIMES AND THEY WOULD NOT OFFER A LOANER UNTIL THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN THERE FOR EIGHT HOURS FOR RECALL REPAIR SERVICE. NLM
WAS PUSHING ON ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND VEHICLE FAIL TO ACCELERATE FORWARD. PEDAL WAS STUCK AND THEN SUDDENLY WOULD TAKE OFF. PEDAL THROTTLE CABLE HAD RELEASED. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, AND MECHANIC REPAIRED THROTTLE BODY.*AK

CONSUMER IS NOT SATISFIED WITH RECALL (C00093-S) CONSUMER DOES NOT THINK THAT ANY REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON VEHICLE, CONSUMER STATES DEALER REFUSED TO SHOW HIM WHAT WAS DONE, DEALER SHOWED CONSUMER A SCHEMATIC DRAWING OF THE BRACKET USED AND ITS LOCATION, EXCEPT WHAT HE SHOWED CONSUMER HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS VEHICLE, CONSUMER STATES HIS VEHICLE HAS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT SET UP FROM WHAT HE WAS SHOWN, CONSUMER CONTACTED MANUFACTURER AND WAS ADVISED THEY DID NOT HAVE A SCHEMATIC DRAWING OF THE BRACKET AND ITS LOCATION. *JB

ACCELERATOR WOULD STICK AT A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT. IT WOULD SUDDENLY JUMP/JERK FORWARD. HAD TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, BUT INFORMED CONSUMER VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. PART NEEDED TO BE CLEANED/ NOT REPLACED. THE PROBLEM WAS SPORADIC OR INTERMITTENT AT TIMES. *AK *JB

POPPING NOISE AND SLACK IN FRONT DRIVE TRAIN - DEALER CANNOT FIND PROBLEM AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS. FINALLY FOUND NOISE PROBLEM AROUND DASH - WINDSHIELD IS NOT GLUED IN AND COULD COME OUT AT ANY TIME - VERY DISSATISFIED WITH PURCHASE. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO TRY AND LOCATE POPPING NOISE ANY FURTHER AS THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. *AK

WHILE DRIVING THE SEAT BELTS LOCK UP ESPECIALLY IF THE VEHICLE HITS A BUMP, WHEN THE CONSUMER MOVES FORWARD TO CHECK THE BLIND SPOT THE THE SEAT BELT LOCKS UP. NLM
RIGHT REAR BRAKE DOES NOT RELEASE AND IT STAYS LOCKED UP AFTER RELEASING BRAKE PEDAL WHICH IS CAUSING DAMAGE AND TEARING WHEEL/ROTORS AND CALIPERS. CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT PINS ARE FREEZING UP. PROBLEM IS COMMON ON 1/2 TON PICKUPS, AND 90% OF TIME IT IS ON RIGHT REAR BRAKE. ALSO, REPAIRS WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IF VEHICLE HAD 40,000 MILES ON IT.*AK
INCREASED PEDAL EFFORT FROM IDLE POSITION, I AM AFRAID THAT IF I AM CLOSE TO SOMETHING OR SOMEONE I WILL RUN INTO IT! I AM ALWAYS SPINNING THE BACK WHEELS BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE SINCE CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BY ISSUING A BULLETIN, WHY DON'T THEY REPLACE FOR FREE ON NON WARRANTIED VEHICLES.*AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE WHICH RESULTS IN VEHICLE GOING STRAIGHT THROUGH INTERSECTIONS. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK ADDITION TO COMPLAINT FILED: ON NOVEMBER 17TH, 2001 THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT 35 MPH AND THE BRAKES FAILED CAUSING HER VEHICLE TO REAR END ANOTHER CAR. THERE WERE NO INJURIES DURING THIS INCIDENT.
AT 2000 MILES FRONT TIRES STARTED TO SHOW NOTICEABLE WEAR, DEALER SAID FRONT END OUT OF ALIGNMENT COULD HAVE CAUSE THE TIRE WEAR, ROTATED THE BACK TIRES TO THE FRONT AND REALIGNED THE FRONT END, SAME WEAR APPEARED AT 5000 MILES. GOODYEAR SAID LOW INFLATION CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGED. THE PRESSURE IS 35LBS ON ALL FOUR TIRES, ALTHOUGH THE LABELS SAYS 28LBS ON FRONT AND 35LBS ON THE REAR.
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER HEARD NOISE, VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND DIAGNOSED WITH A BAD TIRE ON THE FRONT LEFT SIDE, RESULTING IN WEAR ON OTHER TIRE, CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP AND FIRESTONE CO. FOR REPAIRS, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE REPAIRS TO TIRE, NO SPECIFIC TIRE INFORMATION WAS GIVEN. *TT
BRAKE LIGHT AND PARKING LIGHT WERE WIRED INCORRECTLY, CAUSING OPERATION TO WORK REVERSED. BRAKE LINING BROKE OFF FROM METAL PAD WHILE DRIVING, RESULTING IN SEVERE DAMAGE TO ROTORS. ALIGNMENT WARPED ROTORS. AT 30-35MPH THE TIRE INCIDENT THREW THE CAP OFF OF REAR DRIVER SID TIRE, RESULTING IN SEVERE DAMAGE TO GAS TANK AND TIRE RIPPED OFF THE GAS TANK INLET.
LEFT FRONT TIRE DEVELOPED A BUBBLE WHILE DRIVING. HAD DEVELOPED A SLOW LEAK. TREAD WAS SEPARATING DUE TO BUBBLE WHICH WAS LOCATED IN MIDDLE OF TREAD. CONTACTED GOODYEAR, AND GOODYEAR INFORMED CONSUMER THERE WAS TREAD SEPARATION ON TIRES. GOODYEAR, WRANGLER ST WITH 18,000 MILES, P235/75/R16. *AK

WHILE DIMMING THE LIGHT FOR INSTRUMENT PANEL CONSUMER'S HAND "BUMPED" DOME OVERRIDE SWITCH. AS A RESULT, ALL EXTERNAL LIGHTS SHUT OFF DURING OPERATION OF VEHICLE. THIS WAS ONLY DESIGNED TO HAPPEN WHEN DOME OVERRIDING SWITCH WAS PRESSED FOUR TIMES IN RAPID SUCCESSION. PROBLEM OCCURED WHENEVER SWITCH WAS TOUCHED. DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE A CAUSE FOR THIS PROBLEM. *AK CONSUMER STATES THE DEALER REPLACED THE SWITCH AND IT DOES THE SAME THING. *JB
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY WHILE TRAVELING OVER ANY BUMP IN THE ROAD, AND PRESSING BRAKE PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED IT FALLS TO THE FLOOR, AND BRAKES DO NOT ACTIVATE. DEALERSHIP HAS EXAMINED VEHICLE, AND STATED THAT BRAKE SYSTEM WAS OPERATING WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS. THERE IS A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE VEHICLE DURING ACTIVATION OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. DEALERSHIP HAS EXAMINED VEHICLE, AND REPLACED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WHICH HAVE FAILED TO EFFECTIVELY REMEDY THE PROBLEM. ALSO, REAR BRAKES INTERMITTENTLY FAIL TO ACTIVATE WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED , POSSIBLY RESULTING IN EXCESSIVE WEAR OF THE FRONT BRAKES. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION.*AK
PARKING BRAKE IS DOWN TOO FAR, IT HITS FLOOR BEFORE EXERTING ENOUGH PRESSURE FOR BRAKE PADS TO CONNECT ON A STEEP HILL, DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK IN ADDITION, CONSUMER STATED THAT THE RUBBER PAD ON THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL FELL OFF. *YD
CONSUMER IS EXPERIENCING A FUEL VAPOR PROBLEM, WHEN VEHICLE IDLES FOR A PERIOD OF TIME THE VAPORS ARE PUSHED OUT, WHEN THIS HAPPENS THEY ARE SUCKED UP INTO THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM AND PUSHED INTO THE CAB OF VEHICLE. *JG
FRONT TIRES STARTED TO SHOW NOTICEABLE WEAR, CAUSE COULD HAVE BEEN THAT THE FRONT END WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THEY ROTATED THE BACK TIRES TO FRONT AND REALIGNED THE FRONT END. SAME WEAR APPEARED AT 5000 MILES. GOODYEAR TOLD ME THE 23575R16 MUST BE 35LBS ON ALL FOUR TIRES. THE LABEL ON THE DOOR SAYS 28LBS FRONT END AND 35LBS ON REAR TIRES. GOODYEAR SAYS THE LOW INFLATION HAS CAUSED PERMANENT DAMAGE.
WHILE MAKING RIGHT OR LEFT TURNS THERE WAS THUMPING VIBRATION. MECHANIC STATED THERE WAS A RECALL ON LOWER STEERING SHAFT; HOWEVER, CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. *AK
WHILE APPLYING BRAKES VEHICLE WAS COMING TO A STOP AND SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING, BRAKE PEDAL FORCED FOOT UP, AND VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK
THERE IS A WIRE HARNESS SHOWING FROM UNDER STEERING WHEEL TIL THAT HAS A SHORT CIRCUIT AND OCCASIONALLY SPARKS. ALSO, THIS HAS CAUSED PROBLEMS WITH READING FUEL INDICATOR/ ODOMETER/ GEAR INDICATOR/ AIR CONDITIONER AND HEATER. *AK
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE I BOUGHT IT. MY BRAKES HABITUALLY FAIL IF I HIT A BUMP WHILE BRAKING, AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY BOTH THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER THAT MY BRAKES ARE OPERATING WITHIN THE NORMAL SPECS FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THE DRIVING CONDITIONS IN MY AREA. THEY DO NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I USE MY PERSONAL VEHICLE TO RESPOND TO FIRES AND MEDICAL EMERGENCIES, AND AM CONCERNED THAT I WILL HAVE AN ACCIDENT EN ROUTE TO HELP SOMEONE. ALSO, MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OCCASIONALLY GOES INTO NEUTRAL WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, OR WILL NOT ENGAGE UPON PUTTING IT IN 'DRIVE', BUT THE DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO DUPLICTE THE PROBLEM, SO THEY SAY THEY CAN'T FIX IT. MY FUEL PUMP HAS FAILED AND BEEN REPLACED MORE THAN ONCE. MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS REPEATEDLY FAIL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER HOUSING IS OF SUCH SIZE, SHAPE AND PLACEMENT AS TO CAPTURE DEBRIS BETWEEN THE HOUSING AND THE ALUMINUM ALLOY WHEEL, THE TRAPPED DEBRIS SERVES TO SCORE THE SURFACE OF THE ALUMINUM WHEEL CAUSING IT TO EVENTUALLY SEPARATE, THIS HAS HAPPENED ON ONE OF THE VEHICLES, HOWEVER AFTER EXAMINATION CONSUMER FOUND SIMILAR WHEEL SCORING IN OTHER VEHICLES (1500, 2500 AND 2500HD SERIES). *SLC
A RIDGE HAS APPEARED HALF-WAY DOWN ON ALL FOUR TIRES SIDEWALLS AND 1/8" DEEP DIAGONAL RIPPING OF THE RUBBER IS APPEARING ALL AROUND THESE RIDGES. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND T HEY TOLD ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A FIRESTONE DEALER. THE FIRESTONE DEALER (FRANK S. GALLI) LOCATED IN WAPPINGERSFALLS, N.Y INSPECTED THE TIRES AND AGREED THAT THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. HE CHECKED THE VEHICLES MILEAGE AND TOLD ME THAT SINCE THE TRUCK HAS 23,300 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND FALLS WITHIN THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER DEALER WARRANTY , I SHOULD TAKE THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER FOR REPLACEMENT TIRES. I CALLED THE DEALER AND INFORMED HIM WHAT THE FIRESTONE DEALER TOLD ME. THEY SAID "BRING THE VEHICLE TO BARTON BIRKS SO THAT THEY CAN INSPECT THE TIRES AND IF THEY AGREED ON REPLACING THEM, IT WOULD TAKE TWO TO THREE WEEKS TO ORDER THE TIRES". MY QUESTION IS, MUST I ACCEPT FIRESTONE REPLACEMENTS, OR CAN I REQUEST A BRAND OF MY CHOICE?*AK
