JUST LEAVING HOME TO GO LOOK AT SOME PARTS FOR A POLE BARN AND LEFT DRIVEWAY WENT TO STOP SIGH , I PROCEEDING TO GO DOWN MITCHELL HILL RD AND ON THE SECOND TURN NO BRAKES , LUCKILY I HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE IN THIS AREA AND INSTANTLY APPLIED MY EMERGENCY BRAKE AND PUT TRUCK INTO LOWER GEAR . THIS WAS ENOUGH TO SLOW ME DOWN SO I DIDN'T GO OVER THE GUARD RAIL BUT DID HIT IT ROUGHLY . I MADE IT TO THE BOTTOM AND COASTED TO A STOP . GOT OUT AND LOOKED UNDER HOOD AND TRUCK TO FIND BRAKE FLUID WAS POURING ON TO THE GROUND. I HAD IT TOWED HOME . UPON FURTHER INSPECTION I LOCATED THE CAUSE OF BRAKE FAILURE WAS DUE TO BRAKE LINES BROKE DUE TO HEAVY RUST ALL OVER THEM .. NOW I DO A LITTLE RESEARCH ONLINE FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS AND FIND OUT THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH MANY OWNERS OF CHEVROLET SILVERADO'S . WHY HASN'T THEIR BEEN A RECALL . WHY IS BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF MONEY INVOLVED AND GM DOESN'T WANT TO PAY . SO SOMEONE ELSE WILL BE PAID , BUT NOT THE OWNERS . OR A FATALITY WILL HAVE TO OCCUR FOR SOMEONE TO MAKE A DECISION . THAT'S THE WORLD WE LIVE IN NOW ! SAD BUT TRUE . *TR
2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO K1500. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH ELECTRONIC DASH *TGW THE SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN INCONSISTENTLY WORKING SINCE JULY 2010. THE GAUGE WOULD BE FINE AT FIRST, WHEN SUDDENLY IT WOULD REGISTER SPEEDS THAT WERE NOT CORRECT AND THE NEEDLE WAS SLOW TO RESPOND TO ANY CHANGE IN SPEED AND IT WOULD NOT DROP TO ZERO WHEN THE CONSUMER CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. IT WOULD USUALLY CORRECT ITSELF OVERNIGHT, BUT NOT ALWAYS AND IT WOULD REMAIN NORMAL UNTIL THE NEXT INTERMITTENT EPISODE. ALSO, THERE WAS AN INTERMITTENT CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE DASH. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE DOORS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK ON THEIR OWN WHILE STOPPED AND WHILE DRIVING. THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT BRIEFLY, ALL OF THE DASH DISPLAYS AND SIDE DOOR LIGHT PANELS WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. THE POWER HEATED SEATS WOULD JERK AND MAKE NOISES. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND HORN WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED THE COMPONENTS UNDER WARRANTY. THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND THE DEALER DOES NOT WANT TO REPAIR THE FAILURES FOR FREE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS / LEFT AND RIGHT SIGNAL BULBS LIGHT FIXTURE OVER HEATING CAUSING SIGNAL BULB ORANGE TINT TO "MELT" OFF. THIS ALSO INCLUDES THE REFLECTOR "BLACKENING" FROM MID BULB TO TOP. OVER HEATING CAUSES THE SIGNAL BULB TO PEEL AND TURN TO CLEAR BULB. VIOLATES CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE FOR SIGNALING. *TR
HAZARD FLASHER RELAY/SWITCH "SOUNDS OFF" AFTER THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH IS RETURNED TO THE REST POSITION AFTER SIGNALING A RIGHT OR LEFT HAND TURN, THIS CLICKING SOUND ALSO HAPPENS WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS ADJUSTED AND WHILE I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ALL BY IT'S SELF. THE HAZARD AND TURN SIGNALS DO NOT LIGHT, ONLY THE AGGRAVATING CLICKING SOUND CAN BE HEARD. I CAN ALSO MAKE THE HAZARD/SIGNAL RELAY/SWITCH CLICK BY WIGGLING THE TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR SWITCH. I HAD THE HAZARD SWITCH REPLACED AT THE DEALER BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I HAVE THE HAZARD/FLASHER RELAY/SWITCH AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS FAIL. REPLACED BRAKE LIGHT AND A FEW WEEKS LATER IT STOPS WORKING. IF I REMOVE THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY AND TAP THE BULB THAT'S NOT WORKING, IT WORKS FINE FOR A DAY OR TWO AND THEN STOPS WORKING AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE PAST YEAR. REPLACING WITH A NEW BULB WORKS OK FOR A FEW WEEKS AGAIN. *TR

REAR TAIL LIGHT FILLS WITH WATER AND FOGS UP CAUSING LIGHTS TO NOT BE SEEN GOOD...*NM
THESE INCIDENTS HAPPENED DURING THE FOLLOWING YRS AT LEAST 3 TIMES A YEAR NOW FOR EACH YR FROM 2005 TILL 2015 COMING HOME FROM DAUGHTERS AND LOST ALL HEAD LAMPS AND DRIVING LIGHTS SO WAS DRIVING IN COMPLETE DARKNESS WITH NO LIGHTS , THANKFULLY WE MADE IT HOME THE LAST 2 MILES NEXT DAY TOOK TO MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE LAMPS , TWO WEEKS LATER GOT PULLED OVER DUE TO RUNNING LIGHTS ONE WAS OUT AND GOT WARNING ABOUT THAT .......................THIS HAS HAPPENED 12 TIMES SINCE WE OWNED THIS TRUCK SINCE 2005 AND WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY BUT NOW AFTER 6 MONTHS LIGHTS GO OUT AGAIN AND GET PULLED OVER DUE TO ONLY ONE HEADLAMP IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING? MOSTLY THIS IS JUST ON DRIVERS SIDE HEADLAMP AND RUNNING LIGHT IT KEEPS BLOWING THE LAMPS OUT OCCASIONALLY IT BLOWS BOTH SIDES AND FRONT RUNNING LAMPS. *TR
DT: THE CALLER SAID THAT WHEN TURNING ON THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL THE HAZARD LIGHTS COME ON. HE SAID THEY GO OFF WHEN HE FINISHES THE TURN. IT STARTED WITHOUT WARNING ABOUT NINE MONTHS AGO, BUT HAS GOTTEN WORSE LATELY. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME, BUT IT IS HAPPENING MORE OFTEN. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER CLAIM THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE AND THEY WILL OFFER NO HELP FOR FREE. *AK
