TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO WOBBLE WHILE MAKING A TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT WHEEL HUB WAS NO LONGER TOGETHER AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY 9 MONTHS LATER, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL HUB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 113,904 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,780. UPDATED 10/07/08. *LJ
LIGHT BULB SOCKETS ALLOW SLIP-IN TYPE BULBS TO SLIP OUT . GM HAS NOT RECALLED THESE SOCKETS, HOWEVER THEY HAVE IMPROVED THE CURRENT DESIGN SO AS TO HOLD THE BULBS MORE SECURELY. THE TURN SIGNALS, STOP LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS ,AS WELL AS THE HEADLIGHTS ARE AFFECTED BY THIS DEFICIENCY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT NOTICED OIL LEAKING FROM THE DIFFERENTIAL COVER, WHICH CAUSED THE COVER TO RUST AND CRACK TO THE BOTTOM OF THE DIFFERENTIALS. HE CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. HE DECIDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE HIMSELF BY ORDERING AFTERMARKET PARTS TO REPAIR THE DEFECT. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE DIFFERENTIALS SHOULD NOT BE RUSTING AFTER THREE YEARS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 80,000.
I BOUGHT NEW A 2004 CHEVY. SILVERADO 2500HD EXTENDED CAB 4X4 PICKUP WITH THE 6.0 LITER GAS ENGINE. IT CURRENTLY HAS ONLY 37,000 MI ON IT AND IS GARAGE KEPT IN WI. FROM WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT I THOUGHT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS A BIT SOFT(WENT DOWN TOO FAR) BUT WAS TOLD THAT WAS NORMAL FROM THE CHEVY DEALER. EVER SINCE IT HAS GOTTEN MUCH WORSE. AT TIMES NOW THE PEDAL GOES ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND I AM AFRAID I AM GOING TO HIT SOMETHING. OFTEN, WHEN THE SPEED FINALLY GETS DOWN TO UNDER 10MPH THE BRAKES THEN PULSE AS IF THE ABS IS ACTIVATED AND THE OTHER DAY I ALMOST HIT THE CAR AHEAD OF ME AFTER ALMOST BEING STOPPED BEFORE THE BRAKES STARTED PULSING. I AM 46YO, AM A POLICE OFFICER, AND DRIVE FOR A LIVING DURING MY NORMAL WORK DAY. I HAVE MANY YEARS AND MUCH EXPERIENCE DRIVING AND I CAN TELL YOU, THESE BRAKES ARE NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY AND WILL CAUSE ME, IF NOT OTHERS TO HAVE A BAD ACCIDENT. I AM AFRAID TO EVEN DRIVE THIS VEHICLE VERY FAR AND CERTAINLY WOULD NEVER TOW ANYTHING WITH IT. I THINK CHEVROLET AND GM ARE AVOIDING THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WILL BE A POTENTIALLY BIG RECALL AND WILL COST THEM MORE MONEY THAN LAWSUITS. (ACTUARIES HAVE PROBABLY DONE THE MATH) THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO AND ADDRESSED BEFORE PEOPLE NEEDLESSLY DIE. NOTE: THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW BUT HAS CONTINUALLY GOTTEN MUCH WORSE. THE INCIDENT DATE BELOW DOES NOT REFLECT THE TIME OVER WHICH THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN PRESENT. I KNOW OTHER PEOPLE WITH CHEVY AND GMC TRUCKS THAT HAVE EXPRESSED THE SAME PROBLEM TO ME. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS!!! *TR
TO WHOM IT CONCERNS: I OWN A 2004 CHEVROLET 2500 HD 4X4 SILVERADO. I BOUGHT IT NEW. I HAVE BEEN HEARING A CLUNKING SOUND EVERY TIME I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON NOW FOR MAYBE 5 OR 6 YEARS. I STARTED TO LOOK INTO THE CAUSE OF THE CLUNKING SOUND BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GETTING WORSE, AND I WAS VERY SHOCKED TO READ SO MANY COMPLAINTS, OVER 50 WHEN I STOPPED READING. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. MY QUESTION IS THIS. WHY DOES GMC NOT TAKE NOTICE OF THIS PROBLEM AND ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE LIVES ARE LOST BECAUSE OF THIS STEERING PROBLEM. BRAKES BECAME WEAK. UPON INSPECTION, I DISCOVERED THAT THE INSIDE OF THE ROTOR WAS WEARING IN ONLY A 1" WIDE CIRCLE AROUND THE ROTOR. THE REAR OF THE ROTOR WAS RUSTED OVER INSIDE AND OUTSIDE O WHERE THE PAD SHOULD HAVE LEFT THEM CLEAN AND SHINY. PAD WAS ALMOST WORN OUT, BUT STILL SERVICEABLE. OUTSIDE PAD WAS LIKE NEW. *TR

BRAKE ROTORS RUSTING OUT ,THIS TRUCK HAS 38,000 MILES ON IT, BRAKES DO NOT WORK WELL LIKE THIS. I HAD TO HAVE ROTORS REPLACED, COULD NOT TURN BECAUSE TO MUCH RUST. *TR
1. RATTLING, CLUNKING IN STEERING COLUMN - RECALLED ON THE 2005 SILVERADO 2. ABS SENSORS CORRODED CAUSING FALSE ACTIVATIONS, POTENTIALLY WILL CAUSE LOW SPEED CRASH(ES) - ALSO RECALLED ON 1999-2002 SILVERADO BOTH ITEMS OCCUR NUMEROUS TIMES IN ANY SHORT TRIP. TAKING VEHICLE TO CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN TOWN, WANT RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY TO CORRECT, WHY? WHEN THERE ARE RECALLS OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS OF DIFFERENT YEAR TRUCKS. *TR
ON APRIL 30 OF 2008, I PLACED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND ATTEMPTED TO START MY 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. BOTH AIRBAGS SUDDENLY DEPLOYED HITTING ME IN THE FACE. THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS OF AN AIR BAG FAULT PRIOR TO DETONATION. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WERE NO WARRANTIES ON THE AIR BAGS, OUTSIDE OF THE NORMAL 36000 MILE OF 3 YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD. I CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HAVE HAD NO RESOLUTION ON THE REASON FOR THE EVENT OR THE COST TO GET THIS REPAIRED. I AM ENTERING THIS INFORMATION BECAUSE, HAD THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS INCIDENCES OF AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT ON GM PRODUCTS INCLUDING THE SIERRA, SILVERADO AND TAHOE SERIES OF VEHICLE. HOW CAN THE AIRBAG ACTIVATE WITHOUT THE ACCELEROMETER GENERATING A SIGNAL ? IT APPEARS THAT GM MAY HAVE A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS ON THESE MODEL VEHICLES. IS THERE ANY AGENCY OR LEGAL ENTITY OF THE U.S. GOVERNMENT THAT COULD FORCE GM TO DISCLOSE THE CAUSE OF THESE EVENTS AND HELP WITH THE COST OF REPAIRS? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE BRAKE SERVICE LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED THROUGH AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THAT TIME. AFTER TWO YEARS, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT MADE A RIGHT TURN AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED AND THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. HE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED A FAILURE WITH THE WHEEL. HE JACKED THE VEHICLE UP AND NOTICED THAT THE WHEEL WAS LOOSE, AND THE TIRE WOULD WOBBLE 3- 4 INCHES. THE CONTACT CHANGED THE WHEEL BEARINGS HUB ASSEMBLY. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE CONTACT HEARD SOMETHING COMING FROM THE WHEEL AND REPLACED THE OTHER WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVEROLET SILVERADO 3500. ON APRIL 20, 2008,WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH UP HILL, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED ON ITS OWN. THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO CHECK THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING WHEN HE OPENED THE HOOD AND HE NOTICED OIL AND DIESEL FUEL ALL OVER THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A CHEVROLET DEALER. THE MECHANIC TESTED THE CYLINDER BY BLOWING AIR INTO IT AND THE AIR TRAVELED TO THE CRANK CASE. AFTER THE MECHANIC PERFORMED THIS TEST, HE INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PISTON WAS CRACKED AND A HOLE WAS PRESENT. THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR FAILED AND CAUSED THE CYLINDER TO FILL UP WITH AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF FUEL. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT AND BLOW. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 70,800.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 25-30 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. WHEN THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE SPARE TIRE, IT WAS RUSTED TO THE CABLE HOIST AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED. SHE WAS INFORMED BY A MECHANIC THAT THE CABLES MUST BE CUT TO REMOVE THE RUSTED SPARE TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FROM WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT FILED COMPLAINT NUMBER 71-620509185 WITH GENERAL MOTORS. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,371 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,351. MY SPEEDOMETER JUST STOPPED WORKING I HAVE 72,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS TOLD IT WILL COST 500 TO FIX . ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR

SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND DISPLAYING INCORRECT SPEED. MISLEADING ANYWHERE FROM 10 TO 50 MILES PER HOUR. WORKS SOMETIME AND NOT OTHERS. WENT THROUGH SCHOOL ZONE WHEN I NOTICED THE PROBLEM SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED 25 BUT LUCKILY REALIZED I WAS DOING CLOSER TO 50. *TR

I OWN A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE I WAS GOING THROUGH DEPLOYMENT, MY WIFE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE GAUGES BECAUSE THEY GO ALL OVER THE PLACE, AS MINE DOES. WHEN SHE WENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE FIXED, THEY TOLD HER THAT IT HAD TOO MANY MILES ON IT TO BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OVER $400 IF I WANTED IT FIXED. I THOUGHT A RECALL WAS A RECALL. WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE HOW MUCH IT WAS USED THE PROBLEM IS STILL THE SAME? *TR
WIND SHIELD WIPER DOES NOT SWITCH OFF EVEN IF IT IN ON OFF POSITION. ONCE CAR STARTS UP, WIND SHIELD TURNS ON AND COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF. *TR
STARTING AT AROUND 50,000 MILES AND DURING ROUTINE DRIVING CONDITIONS I NOTICED A SCENT OF ANTI-FREEZE EMANATING FROM UNDER HOOD. AT FIRST UNABLE TO LOCATE LEAK AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE VEHICLE. AT AROUND 69,000 MILES LEAK BECAME APPARENT AND WAS LEAKING FROM THE WATER PUMP. DEALER ASSESSED THE PROBLEM AND PROCEEDED TO INFORM ME THE REPAIR WOULD BE $670. FORTUNATELY I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY UP TO 75,000. VEHICLE NOW FIXED AND OPERATING PROPERLY. *TR
I HAVE A2004 CHEVY 3500 SILVERADO, WITH 50,000 MILES ON, I NOTICED A CLICKING NOISE IN THE RIGHT FRONT. WITH FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I NOTICED THAT THE FRONT WHEEL WAS LOOSE ON THE TRUCK. THE WHEEL BEARING WAS LOOSE. I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS AND DISCUSSED THE BEARING FAILURE. I GOT THE NEW BEARING AND STARTED TO DO THE REPAIR. I NOTICED THAT EVERYTHING LOOKED NEW YET, BUT THE BEARING WAS COMING APART. THE BEARING IS A SEALED UNIT-IT IS PRESSED TOGETHER. THE BEARING IS NOT MANUFACTURED PROPERLY- IT IS NOT PRESSED TOGETHER RIGHT SO THAT THE FRONT TIRE COULD FALL OFF AND CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. I AM SURE THERE IS ALOT OF FAILURE ON THESE BEARINGS AND THIS SHOULD BE CHECKED OUT. WHEN THESE BEARINGS FAIL BECAUSE OF THE PRESSED FIT, THEY SELF DESTRUCT VIOLENTLY AND THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN LOOK AT IT AFTER IT FAILS UNLESS YOU CATCH IT EARLY. I CAUGHT MINE EARLY AND IT CAN BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION TO THE PUBLIC. I MADE GENERAL MOTORS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM ON THEIR 800 NUMBER AND THEY REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM WITH ME. *TR
STARTED SUDDENLY.. SPEEDOMETER REGISTERING MUCH GREATER SPEED THAN ACTUAL SPEED. EVEN OFF/PARKED REGISTERING IN EXCESS OF 120 MPH. ALL OTHER GAUGES AS OF NOW SEEM TO BE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. *TR
SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. IT WILL DISPLAY 70 MPH WHEN STANDING STILL. IT DOES NOT DISPLAY THE MPH CORRECTLY. THE NEEDLE WILL NOT RE-ZERO AFTER IGNITION IS TURNED OFF. *TR
AFTER DISENGAGING CRUISE CONTROL MY SPEEDOMETER WAS REGISTERING 80MPH PLUS AS MY SPEED. WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE SPEEDOMETER REGISTERED 35 MPH. THE SPEEDOMETER WENT UP TO 100MPG WHEN I STAYED WITH EXPRESSWAY TRAFFIC, KEEPS ON GOING UP,EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT IS OFF THE GAS PEDAL. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE DASH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.(AS TOLD BY GM REPAIR PERSON) I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF A RECALL BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ONE. *TR
CHEVROLET SENT ME A NOTICE OF GUAGE FAILURE IN 2007 , AND SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THEM IF THEY WERE NOT WORKING AS LONG AS THE MILAGE WAS UNDER 80000. THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN THEY SENT ME THE NOTICE MY GUAGES WERE WORKING, THEY CONTINUED TO WORK UNTIL AFTER I HAD 82000 THEN THEY STOPPED WORKING. I CALLED THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM AND THEY SAID I WAS OVER THE MILES REQ. I UNDERSTAND THERE WERE A LOT OF TRUCKS THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BEARING FAILED AND CAUSED THE WHEEL TO WOBBLE. WHILE DRIVING AROUND A CURVE AT 55 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARING FAILED AND CAUSED THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO WOBBLE. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH SIDES SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE BEARING FAILED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.

THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE THAT COMES FROM THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF THE TRUCK AND YOU CAN FEEL IT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR
SPEEDOMETER AND GAS GAUGE DEFECTIVE. SPEEDOMETER WILL NOT WORK AT ALL. GAS GAUGE WILL NOT SHOW PROPER FUEL LEVEL. ALOT OF 2005 GM OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. SPEEDOMETER, CAN'T TELL HOW FAST WE ARE GOING. IF THE GAS GAUGE IS NOT WORKING COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF THE VEHICLE STALLS ON THE HIGHWAY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE OVER A HILL OR CURVE. VERY DANGEROUS. THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS WHY ISN'T IT A RECALL? PLEASE HELP TO GET THIS RECALLED NO MATTER THE MILEAGE, WE NEED TO BE SAFE WHILE OPERATING OUR VEHICLE. BLOWER MOTOR UNDER THE DASH QUIT WORKING. A FELLOW WORKER HAS THE SAME TRUCK AND IT ALSO HAPPENED TO HIS TRUCK A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. G.M. DEALER SAID THE WIRING HARNESS AND RESISTOR WAS SHORTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. OVER $400 DOLLARS FOR REPAIRS. THE PERSON THAT FIXED MY FRIENDS TRUCK SAID HE WAS LUCKY HIS TRUCK DIDN'T CATCH ON FIRE. *TR
I OWN A 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO Z71 4 WHEEL DRIVE EXTENDED CAB PICKUP. THE STEERING SHAFT MAKES A RUBBING, GRINDING SOUND WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY THOUGHT IT WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT BUT PROBABLY A BEARING ON THE SHAFT. THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE STEERING SHAFT COULD FAIL WHILE DRIVING. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT AND FEARS. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO CONCERN FROM GENERAL MOTORS. I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO MAKE GOOD ON THIS WIDESPREAD DEFECT. *TR
MANUFACTURER SENT OUT A LETTER STATING MAJOR GAUGE PROBLEMS. ONE OF WHICH IS A SAFETY RECALL PROBLEM WHERE THE SPEED IS NOT PROPERLY REGISTERED. THEY DENY RESPONSIBILITY DUE TO VEHICLE MILEAGE. *TR
I HAD THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH MY '04 SILVERADO. THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT DOWN. SPEDOMETER, GAS, OIL, TEMP GAUGES ALL WERE INOPERATIVE. THERE IS AN ENTIRE BUNCH OF SILVERADOS, GMC AND OTHER CHEVY VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER FIXED MINE FOR FREE. CALL YOUR CHEVY OR GM DISTRICT MANAGERS AND COMPLAIN LIKE HELL! THIS KNOWN PROBLEM 05V043000, 04V045000, FOR THESE TRUCKS NOT ONLY IS A BAD DESIGN BUT IT IS A HAZARD TO THE OWNER, MECHANIC AND INNOCENT OCCUPANTS OF OTHER VEHICLES SHARING THE SAME ROADWAY. *TR
I HAVE A LARGE CLUNKING NOISE AND CAN FEEL IT IN THE STEERING WHEEL OF MY 2004 CHEVROLET Z71 4X4. IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT AND UNDER WARRANTY THE FIRST TIME AT 30K MILES. IT STARTED AGAIN APPROX. 10K MILES AGO AT 70K. I WILL BE CONTACTING MY CHEVY. DEALER ON MONDAY TO SEE IF GM WILL FIX AT THEIR EXPENSE, BUT NOT REAL CONFIDENT THAT WILL HAPPEN. *TR
AT AROUND 60,000 MILES THE FOLLOWING OCCURRED. NO SPECIFIC EVENT LED TO THIS INCIDENT EXCEPT THE TRANSFER PUMP CAME LOOSE. WHEN THE PUMP DROPPED DOWN, THIS ALLOWED THE DRIVE SHAFT TO WEAR THE TRANSFER CASING AS WELL. THE TRANSFER CASE AND THE DRIVE SHAFT YOKE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. *TR

THERE WAS A BUMPING NOISE NOTED COMING FROM THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE LEFT FRONT HUB ASSEMBLY FOR THE CHEVY 2500HD FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WITH DURAMAX DIESEL ENGINE WAS REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT HUB ASSEMBLE WAS ALSO LOOSE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED SOON. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THREE OTHER COMPLETE HUBS, SO THIS MEANS THAT A TOTAL OF SIX HUBS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS CONFIRMED WITH THE DEALER THAT THESE HUB ASSEMBLIES HAVE NO GREASE FITTINGS AND ONLY COME WITH WHATEVER GREASE IS IN THE HUB AT THE TIME OF MANUFACTURE. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT WITH A LOSS OF LIFE. THIS IS REPORTED IN THE HOPE THAT A FULL AND COMPLETE INVESTIGATION IS CONDUCTED PRIOR TO A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WITH A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND A RESULTING LOSS OF PROPERTY AND LIVES. THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED WITH THE HIGHEST PRIORITY. I AWAIT YOUR RESPONSE AND RESULTS OF THE INVESTIGATION. *TR

WE ARE OVER THAT BUT DIDN'T START MESSING UP UNTIL REACHED ABOUT 85,000 IF YOU READ ANY FORUMS ON THE INTERNET THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND COSTING 500.00 TO GET FIXED, AND ALOT OF SPEEDING TICKETS. IT WILL WORK FOR A BIT THEN YOU STOP AND IT WILL READ 30 OR SOMETHING STOP THE NEXT TIME READ 95 THEN WONT WORK. THEN WORK FINE FOR A DAY FOR SO THEN MESS UP AGAIN. THE OTHER CLUSTERS ARE NOW MESSING UP TO AT 95000 MILES. *TR
BLOWER MOTOR WIRING HARNESS MELTED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 58 MPH, THE CONTACT SLID ON A PATCH OF ICE AND LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE RAN OFF THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE STOPPED WHEN IT CRASHED INTO A FROZEN EMBANKMENT. UPON IMPACT, THE FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH THE CONTACT MADE IMPACT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THE COMPLAINT WAS DENIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, AFTER INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE AIR BAGS WERE ENABLED AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. THEY DID NOT GIVE AN EXPLANATION FOR THE DEPLOYMENT FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 180,000. UPDATED 09/03/08 *BF UPDATED 09/04/08. *JB
