TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN AS IF IT WERE LOOSE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STEERING ROD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND IS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000. UPDATED 11/25/08. *LJ THE STEERING SHAFT WAS REPALCED. UPDATED 11/25/08. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER HE MAKES A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE; HOWEVER, IT CONTINUES TO TURN THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH INTERMEDIATE SHAFT FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,500.
I AM TRYING TO AVOID INJURIES BEFORE THEY HAPPEN BY CONTACTING YOU ABOUT A STEERING DEFECT IN A 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO PICKUP WITH ONLY 34 THOUSAND MILES THAT I PURCHASED ON SEPT. 25, 2008 AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING LOOSE IN THE STEERING . I DID A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THERE WERE OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WERE ALMOST 100 PEOPLE JUST ON THIS ONE SITE ( WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM ) HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH TRUCKS BUILT FROM 2002 AND 2006. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND GM REFUSES TO DO A RECALL TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND THERE IS NO WAY TO PERMANENTLY FIX THESE TRUCKS WITHOUT DOING A RECALL AND CHANGING THE STEERING BOXES. THERE ARE PROBABLY THOUSANDS OR MORE OF THESE TRUCKS OUT THERE ON THE HIGHWAYS. I JUST PAID $11,000. FOR MY TRUCK AND PROBABLY WON'T EVEN BE ABLE TO GET IT STATE INSPECTED WHEN IT COMES DUE. IF YOU LOOK AT SOME OF THE COMPLAINTS ON THE WEBSITE THAT I GAVE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE HOW UPSET PEOPLE ARE WITH GM, AND RIGHTLY SO WHEN YOU PAY SO MUCH FOR A VEHICLE AND ARE AFRAID TO PUT YOUR FAMILY IN IT WITH CONCERN FOR THEIR SAFETY. DO WE HAVE ANY RECOURSE THROUGH THE LEMON LAWS IF THEY CONTINUE TO REFUSE TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES ? I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP ON THIS MATTER. THANK YOU *TR

NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER FREEZES UP WHEN THE WEATHER GETS COLD. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR AT LEAST 2 WINTERS NOW AND IF I DON'T GET A SPEEDING TICKET SOON, I'M HOPING NOT TO GET INTO AND ACCIDENT CAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST I'M REALLY GOING. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THERE IS A WHOLE FORUM ABOUT FAULTY CHEVY SPEEDOMETER. *TR
SPEEDOMETER IN MY 2004 CHEVY, SILVERADO QUIT WORKING PROPERLY. NOT RECORDING PROPER SPEED HIGH OR LOW AND STICKING IN ONE POSITION. *TR
I HAVE A DURAMAX DIESEL ENGINE. I EXPERIENCED THE INJECTORS FAILED CAUSING MY FUEL TO MIX WITH THE OIL IN MY CRANKCASE WHICH CAUSED MY MOTOR TO SEIZE. GM HAS STATED THAT THE INJECTORS DID FAIL BUT WILL NOT FIX THE OTHER DAMAGE THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE INJECTOR FAILURE. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM LAST YEAR LETTING ALL DURAMAX OWNERS KNOW OF THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THE LETTER SAID 'DON'T DO ANYTHING UNLESS THEY FAIL". WELL THEY FAILED AND GM WILL NOT FIX MY ENGINE. THEY WANT TO REPLACE IT TO A TUNE OF $13,000 TO ME!!!!!! PLEASE HELP ME. I HAVE TALKED TO MANY OTHER DURAMAX OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ENGINE FAILURE. *TR
2004 CHEVY SILVERADO INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STICKS AND READS A CONSTANT 120+ MPH. STARTED TO STICK AT AROUND 75 MPH FOR A MONTH. NOW IS STUCK ON 120+ MPH AND WILL NOT MOVE EVEN WHEN TRUCK IS RESTARTED OR FLASHING COMPUTER. *TR
THIS HAPPENED IN THE YEAR 2008. EVERYTHING WAS FINE BUT WHEN I WOKE UP THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS POINTING AT 120MPH. IN OTHER WORDS, IT WAS A DIRECT REFLECTION FROM ITS INITIAL POINT, WHICH WAS WHEN IT WAS POINTING AT OR BELOW 0MPH.
I HAVE A SET OF MASTERCRAFT COURSER A/T (COOPER TIRES). THE DOT # IS 3DYU 0705 2G13L. TWO WEEKS AGO I HAD A LARGE BUBBLE ON ONE TIRE AND HAD IT REPLACED. TODAY I HAD ANOTHER ONE WHERE THE TREAD BLEW OUT CAUSING ME TO WRECK. THE TIRE STORE HAS SAID THAT THE TREAD / METAL SEPERATED ON BOTH TIRES. *TR
ON 3 OCCASIONS THE LOWER LEFT INTER-COOLER HOSE HAS COME DISCONNECTED CAUSING A SEVERE LOSS OF POWER TO THE DIESEL ENGINE. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE ON MY 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO PICK UP STICKS PART OF THE TIME IN ALL DIFFERENT SPOTS. IT DOSE NOT MATTER I AM ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING. AN SOME TIMES IT DOSE NOT EVEN LEAVE THE 0 MARK. THIS PROBLEM CAN RESULT IF DRIVERS GETTING PULLED OVER FOR SPEEDING WHEN THERE SPEEDOMETER IS TELLING THEM THAT THEY ARE GOING THE PROPER SPEED LIMIT. *TR
2004 CHEVY SILVERADO: STEERING COLUMN BEGAN CLUNKING SOUND AROUND 48,000 MILES UPON INSPECTION DETERMINED PITMAN SHAFT BEARING LOOSE/WORN CONTINUES TO GET WORSE NOW 52,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. UPON RESEARCHING PROBLEM ON INTERNET FOUND MANY VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUE NO REPAIR YE,T SHAFT/BEARING WILL NEED REPLACED SOON. *TR
BRAKE FAILURE 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500. LOUD GRINDING NOISE IN THE RIGHT REAR AREA OF MY PICKUP LED ME TO STOP AT THE NEAREST REPAIR LOCATION TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. INSPECTION INDICATED BRAKE PAD ON INNER RIGHT REAR WHEEL WAS WORN DOWN TO METAL AND WAS GROOVING INTO THE ROTOR. ADVISED TO DRIVE AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE AND BRING TRUCK THE NEXT DAY FOR REPAIRS. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT BACK AND HAD TO HAVE A ROTOR REPLACED AND ALL FOUR REAR BRAKE PADS, EVEN THOUGH THE OTHER THREE PADS STILL HAD 75% OF THE PADS LEFT ON THEM. TECHNICIANS WHO WORKED ON MY VEHICLE RECOGNIZED COMMON PROBLEM SEEN IN MANY 1500 CHEVY SILVERADO'S OF THIS AGE/ERA. TECHNICAL BULLETIN FROM CHEVROLET (00-05-23-005B, DATED MAY 27,2003) STATES PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL TRUCK INCLUDING YEAR MODELS 1999-2004. SOLUTION TO PROBLEM WAS TO INSTALL MUD FLAPS IN FRONT OF REAR TIRES TO PREVENT ROAD DEBRIS FROM BEING THROWN UP ONTO CALIPER ASSEMBLIES AND CAUSING EXCESSIVE WEAR TO THE RIGHT REAR INNER BRAKE PAD. WE PURCHASED THIS TRUCK IN DECEMBER OF 2003, WELL AFTER THIS BULLETIN WAS PUBLISHED AND THEY SOLD IT TO US WITH NO MUD FLAPS INSTALLED AND NO MENTION OF THE NEED FOR MUDFLAPS OR THAT THERE WAS A KNOWN DESIGN FLAW IN THE VEHICLE THAT COULD CAUSE REAR BRAKE DAMAGE. CHEVROLET SHOULD HAVE INSTALLED MUD FLAPS ON ALL AFFECTED TRUCK MODELS SOLD AFTER THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS FLAW. THEY DID NOT, NOR DID THEY LATER ISSUE A RECALL TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. MUD FLAPS THEY RECOMMEND ARE NOT LONGER BEING MANUFACTURED BY THEM. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE WITH CHEVROLET AND THEY HAVE REFUSED ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR ASSISTANCE IN OBTAINING THE MUD FLAPS (PART # 15765007) OR REIMBURSING US FOR THE BRAKE WORK THAT WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO HAVE BEEN DONE, IF NOT FOR THIS KNOWN DESIGN FLAW IN OUR TRUCK. I BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF TRUCK OWNERS OUT THERE THAT HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM AND PERHAPS DID NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE BULLETIN, AND ARE UNAWARE OF CHEVROLETS KNOWLEDGE OF THE DESIGN FLAW AND THE MUD FLAP SOLUTION. *TR
THE DIGITAL INSTRUMENT DISPLAY ON MY 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO Z71W/53K MILES QUIT WORKING. AFTER 5 MINUTES, THE DISPLAY APPEARED. THE NEXT DAY, THE DIGITAL DISPLAY DID NOT APPEAR FOR 45 MINUTES. ALL ANALOG DISPLAYS (MPH, OIL, WATER, BATTERY) WERE OK. THE PROPOSED CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST GM APPEARS RELATED TO THE ANALOG GAUGES ONLY. LOSS OF DIGITAL DISPLAY IS ALSO A CONCERN, SINCE TRANSMISSION GEAR AND ANY POWER TRAIN, BRAKE, OR VEHICLE WARNING MESSAGES ARE NOT VISIBLE. MY CONCERN IS WHETHER THE LOSS OF ANALOG / DIGITAL DISPLAY ARE RELATED, SUCH AS A COMMON ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 50 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER REMAINED STUCK ON 40 MPH, DESPITE ACCELERATION OR DECELERATION. THE OIL GAUGE ALSO REMAINED STUCK ON 80. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 64,000.
2004 CHEVY SILVERADO HAD A BAD FUEL PUMP. CONSUMER THINKS THAT GMC SHOULD HAVE A BETTER QUALITY FUEL PUMP. *NJ
IT STARTED ON AUGUST 24TH THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. THEN IT STARTED TO REGISTER AT 40 MPH STANDING STILL. WHEN PLACED INTO DRIVE IT MAXS AT 120 MPH WHILE MOVING. *TR
THE AIR CONDITIONER BLOWS HOT AIR OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON. THIS JUST STARTED. MY BROTHER HAS A VEHICLE IDENTICAL TO MINE, SAME YR AND EVERYTHING, AND IT IS DOING THE SAME THING. THE DRIVERS SIDE BLOWS COLD AIR AND THE PASSENGER SIDE FEELS LIKE THE HEATER IS ON, WITH BOTH CONTROLS ON COLD. *TR
THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT BECOMES WORN OR LOOSE RESULTING IN SEVERE VIBRATIONS AND NOISE WHEN DRIVING AT MODERATE SPEEDS AND WHEN TURNING. THE VIBRATIONS RESULT IN A LOSS OF PRECISE STEERING CONTROL. THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE BY THE DEALER. THE PROBLEM RECURS SEVERAL THOUSAND MILE AFTER THE SHAFT REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT IMPLEMENTED A PERMANENT FIX. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS BRAKES HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED AT 18,000 MILES. THE ROTOR WAS RUSTED, CORRODED, SOFT, AND SPONGY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKES FOR FREE. CURRENTLY, AT 28,000 MILES, THE BRAKES ARE IN WORSE CONDITION THAN BEFORE THE PREVIOUS REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR; HOWEVER, THEY WANTED TO CHARGE HIM FOR THE SERVICE. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT HE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY SINCE THE BRAKES WERE NOT PROPERLY REPAIRED THE FIRST TIME. INSTEAD, THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC FOR REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,300.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 Z71. THE SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN HE FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN AUGUST OF 2008. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE PER THE WARRANTY AND REPLACED A SWITCH UNDERNEATH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL; THE FAILURE RECURRED IN DECEMBER 2009. A LOCAL MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WERE CODES FOR THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR AND AXLE; YET, IT WAS NOTHING DEFINITE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ABS LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DID NOT CITE ANY PERFORMANCE ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED TO-DATE. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.
I HAVE A 2004 SILVERADO,Z71,AND IT HAS 106,000 MILES. I JUST RECENTLY HAD THE 4X4 SYSTEM REPAIRED,AT A COST OF $802.50. THE ENCODER ON THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR WENT BAD,THUS NOT ALLOWING THE 4X4 TO ENGAGE. I AM AWARE OF THREE OTHER SIMILAR TRUCKS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. THIS IS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR TO SOMEONE LIKE MYSELF.THANKS...DAVID *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED THE INCORRECT SPEED AND AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE WARRANTY WAS VALID UP TO 80,000; HOWEVER, HIS VEHICLE'S MILEAGE EXCEEDED THE WARRANTY. THE CONTACT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 171,000.
ON AUG 13, 2008 AT APPROX MIDNIGHT OUR TRUCK WHICH WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY STARTED ON FIRE. IT DID DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND WE BELIEVE IT STARTED WITH THE GLOW PLUG RELAY SWITCH OR SOMETHING ELECTRIC COVERED BY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. TODAY IS SEPT 13TH AND WE JUST RECEIVED A LTR FROM GM THAT THEY ARE NOT TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY. WE ARE FRUSTRATED AND THE TRUCK IS DAMAGED AND WE DO NOT BELIEVE WE WILL BE MADE WHOLE AS THE INSURANCE WANTS TO TOTAL AND PAY ONLY THE MARKET VALUE WHICH IS MUCH LESS THAN BLUE BOOK. WE ARE WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND GM HAS BEEN LESS THAN RELUCTANT TO RESPOND TO CALLS, ETC. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN SITTING AT DEALER FOR A MONTH WAITING FOR SOMEONE FROM GM TO INSPECT TO VALIDATE FIRE DEPT REPORT AND ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. I AM DISGUSTED WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE FACT THAT YOU CANNOT TALK TO ANYONE WITH AUTHORITY. THIS IS THEIR PROBLEM AND THEY DON'T WANT TO TAKE ANY ACTION. I FOUND ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR TRUCK. OUR TRUCK IS LIKE BRAND NEW. IT WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW AND IT IS A 2004 DURAMAX WITH 46,000 MILES IN MINT CONDITION. THE SPEEDOMETER IN MY 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HAS BEGUN INTERMITTENTLY SHOWING SPEEDS THAT VARY WIDELY AND DO NOT INDICATE ACTUAL ROAD SPEED. THE SPEEDOMETER FAILS TO RETURN TO ZERO AT REST AND HAS SHOWN SPEEDS MORE THAN 40 MPH IN EXCESS OF ESTIMATED ACTUAL SPEED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT, ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT YET CONTACTED A DEALER OR GM. I BELIEVE THERE ARE TWO COMPONENTS TO THIS PROBLEM: 1) I CANNOT RELY ON THE SPEEDOMETER READING; 2) THIS COULD AFFECT THE MILES SHOWN ON THE ODOMETER OR AT LEAST CAST DOUBT ON THEIR VERACITY. THE TRUCK PRESENTLY HAS JUST UNDER 42,00 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN RELATIVELY FREE OF MAJOR DEFECTS OTHER THAN RECALL ITEMS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH FOREIGN YKS, SIZE LT245/75R16 TIRES. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED MOVING FROM SIDE TO SIDE; HOWEVER, HE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. HE OBSERVED THAT MOST OF THE TREAD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE WAS GONE. A MONTH LATER THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. HE NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER FTS AND THEY STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07T003000, NHTSA ACTION NUMBER EQ08012 TIRES, TREAD BELT ARE RELATED TO THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, HIS TIRES WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. HE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND REALIZED SEVERAL OF THE FOREIGN TIRES ARE DEFECTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE SPARE TIRE WAS A DIFFERENT SIZE THAN THE ORIGINAL TIRE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT HIS SPARE TIRE WAS THE CORRECT SPARE TIRE SIZE THAT COMES WITH HIS VEHICLE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN 2004. THE VEHICLE MADE A BUZZING SOUND WHILE SHUTTING OFF AS IF IT WERE CONTINUING TO RUN. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE IT MADE A HUMMING NOISE. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE REMAINED ON EVEN UPON REMOVAL OF THE ELECTRICAL FUSE. HE ALSO STATED THAT HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS AND TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,200.
RADIO, THE RADIO IN MY TRUCK BROKE WITHIN 12,000 MILES AND HAD IT REPLACED. I NOW HAVE 36,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK AND THE RADIO IS BROKE AGAIN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THE CD GETS STUCK IN THE SLOT AND WON'T EJECT OUT. I HAVE YET TO GET MY CD OUT. *TR

I PURCHASED A 2004 Z-71 SILVERADO ON DECEMBER 31, 2007 WITH 16,020 MILES. IN JULY OF 2008 MY GAUGE CLUSTER STARTED WORKING INTERMITTENTLY, AT FIRST ONLY THE OIL AND FUEL GAUGES STOPPED NOW MY WHOLE CLUSTER HAS BEEN RENDERED USELESS. THE DEALERSHIP IS MAKING EXCUSES NOT TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT, EVEN THOUGH IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT IS COMMON KNOWLEDGE TO ALMOST EVERYONE WHO OWNS A GM TRUCK. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT IT IS MY IGNITION NOT THE GAUGE CLUSTER, EVEN THOUGH EVERYTHING ELSE THAT IS POWERED OFF IGNITION POWER WORKS PERFECTLY FINE. BEING A FORMER MECHANIC I CAN TELL WHEN SOMEONE IS INFORMED ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE TELLING ME, THESE SERVICE CONSULTANT'S ARE NOT! THE DEALER COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT ABOUT GREENDIAMOND TIRES OF NY. I WORKED THERE 2 1/2 YEARS AND WAS LET GO BECAUSE I SPOKE OUT ABOUT THE POOR QUALITY OF THE TIRES BEING BUILT. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS TIRES THAT HAVE HAD CATASTROPHIC FAILURES,RESULTING IN THE COMPANY COVERING THEM UP BY PAYING FOR DAMAGES DONE TO VEHICLES. I HAVE IN MY POSSESSION SEVERAL TIRES WITH THESE DEFECTS. I TOLD MANAGEMENT ABOUT THE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES AND MY POSITION AT THE COMPANY WAS ELIMINATED. THEY CONTINUE TO SELL AND SHIP THESE TIRES WITH NO CONCERN FOR CONSUMER SAFETY,EVEN AFTER THEY THEMSELVES CHECKED AND GAUGED THESE TIRES ONLY TO FIND THE SIDEWALLS,TOP RUBBER AND CASINGS USED IN THE BUILD PROCESS TO BE FAULTY. I HAVE A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH STEERING NOISE PROBLEM. FROM READING MANY FORUMS AND ADVICE FROM MANY MECHANICS THEY SAY THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE WITH CHEVY TRUCKS BUT THEY WONT PROVIDE A FIX. WHEN DRIVING MY STEERING WHEEL MAKES LOUD NOISES HEARD FROM INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE TRUCK. I BELIEVE IT IS A STEERING SHAFT ISSUE. NOW HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM GOING ON. DEALER SAYS IT IS THE SAME THING - STEERING SHAFT. NOW IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER SAYS IT HAS TO BE REPLACED, BECAUSE IT IS NOT SOMETHING THEY CAN JUST "TIGHTEN DOWN". DEALER ALSO SAID IT IS NOT A "SAFETY ISSUE". SEEMS TO ME THAT IF YOU LOSE YOUR STEERING IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE! WHAT IS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS? I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VERY SAME ISSUE.
