EARLY 2004 SILVERADO 3500 DIESEL. THE EXTENSION HOUSING BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TRANSFER CASE CRACKED DUE TO VIBRATION FROM THE DRIVE SHAFT U-JOINT FAILURE. TECHNICAL BULLETINS FROM CHEV ADDRESS THIS AS A COMMON PROBLEM. THEY HAVE REDESIGNED THE PARTS BUT WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT TO REPAIR ANY EXISTING PROBLEMS. *NM
MY 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO HAS HAD A KNOCK IN THE STEERING COLUMN IT STARTED AT 18K. I HAD IT FIXED BY GM AT 30K. IT CAME BACK AT 37K. I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT PEOPLE KEEP PAYING TO GET FIXED AND IT BRAKES SOON AFTER. I AS MANY OTHERS ARE DRIVING AROUND WITH THE PROBLEM. DT: CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SHOOK AND VIBRATED. HE TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER TO HAVE THE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT REPLACED WITH ONLY 25, 000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 54, 000 MILES. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
WHILE PULLING MY TRAILER MY TRUCK OVERHEATS AND WHEN IT GETS HOT IT WILL TAKE ALL THE POWER FROM THE MOTOR MAKING A HAZARD AND A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN TAKING IT TO THE DEALER FOR ONE YEAR AND THE SAY NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. *NM
MY '04 CHEVY SILVERADO HD2500 WITH DURAMAX OVERHEATS WHEN TOWING. *JB
SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER RANDOMLY STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO K1500 MORE THAN A YEAR AGO. THIS EQUIPMENT FAILURE GENERATES A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE I CAN NOT KNOW HOW QUICKLY I AM GOING. THIS HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED DUE TO THE HIGH COST OF REPAIR BY GM. *JB
THE POWER STEERING GEAR WAS LEAKING, AND THEN REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AT. THE STEERING GEAR STILL HAS NOT BEEN ADJUSTED PROPERLY AFTER SEVERAL COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE DEALER.
2004 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500 DIESEL, FOUR MONTHS OLD(4000MILES) REAR AXILE WENT OUT. SAID DEFAULT FROM THE MANUFACTOR. TOOK FOURTEEN DAYS TO GET NEW ONE.CHEVROLET BUILT NEW FROM ST.LOUIS AND SHIPPED IT TO BE PUT ON. THEY GAVE ME A LITTLE CAR TO DRIVE. 27000 MILES AND NOW REAR AXILE LEAKING. TOOK TO DEALER. THEY SAID NOTHING BUT NORMAL LEAKAGE COMING OUT. ( WHATS NORMAL LEAKAGE ON A AXILE? THEY ARE NOT SUPOSED TO LEAK ON THE BRAKES.) LOOKED LIKE IT WAS ON FIRE SMOKING SO BAD AND COULD SMELL AXILE GREASE. SEEN SOME ON TIRES. BUT THIS IS NORMAL LEAKAGE.WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT TILL IT BRAKES DOWN.ALSO EVERTHING IN THE DASH STOPS WORKING THEN IT WILL JUST COME BACK ON.
3 TIMES WHILE CLIMBING A HILL, THE ENGINE HAS SUDDENLY, WITHOUT WARNING, LOST ALL POWER, THEN DIED LEAVING ME COASTING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. ENGINE IS VERY HARD TO RESTART, BUT WILL RESTART IF IT SITS FOR A FEW MINUTES. IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR IN AN AREA WHERE I CANNOT GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, OR WHILE PASSING SOMEONE, IT COULD BE CATASTROPHIC. THIS HAS ALWAYS OCCURED WHILE CLIMBING A HILL. WAS RETURNED TO GM DEALER AFTER THE FIRST OCCURANCE, THEY STATED IT SHOWED A LEAN CODE, THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. A WEEK LATER, IT STALLED TWICE ON ONE TRIP. WAS RETURNED TO GM DEALER AGAIN, THEY PUT ANOTHER GROUND WIRE ON THE COMPUTER, SAID THEY HAD BEEN HAVING COMPUTER PROBLEMS IN VEHICLES LATELY. I HAVE BEEN AFRAID TO LET FAMILY IN IT AND HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE THE LAST TRIP TO GM DEALER.
TRUCK OVERHEATED FORCING ME TO RAPIDLY EXIT ROADWAY. PROBLEM IS CONTINUAL, AND NOT RECOGNIZED BY MANUFACTURER AS "PROBLEM" FOR MY MODEL OF TRUCK. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH COMING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE THE STEERING SYSTEM STARTED MAKING NOISES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO ORDERED THE PART TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THREE MONTHS LATER THE PART ARRIVED AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR TWO MONTHS THE NOISE REOCCURRED WORST BECAUSE IT OCCURRED AT ANY SPEED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN FOUR TIMES TO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS BUT NONE OF THEM HAS BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.
DT: THE VEHICLE IS A 2004 GM CHEVROLET K1500 Z71 EXTEND CAB 4X4. ANTI LOCK BRAKES WERE DEFECTIVE. WHEN CONSUMER APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE ABS THEY DID NOT HOLD. ON 2-11-05 HE TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED, AND THEY DID NOTHING TO FIX THE ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING ON 6-23/24-05 THE ABS DID NOT HOLD , CAUSING CONSUMER'S VEHICLE TO LIGHTLY BUMP ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER THEY TOLD HIM TO TAKE IT TO CITY CHEVROLET. HE TOOK IT TO THEM ON 7-5-05 ,AND HE STILL HAS NOT GOTTEN IT BACK YET. CONSUMER FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL IN NOVEMBER . 2004 IN CANADA CONCERNING CORROSION IN THE ABS BRAKES. THE VEHICLE HE OWNED WAS MANUFACTURED BY GENERAL MOTORS IN CANADA LTD.. *AK THERE IS A SPECIAL ORDER PART THAT WAS NOT IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE IN DEALER INVENTORY FOR THE INOPERATIVE BRAKES. VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS TO 2ND GEAR. ENGINE SURGES WHILE DRIVING AND THE BRAKE PEDAL IS HARD TO PUSH DOWN AND DOESN'T STOP WELL. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE MODULAR TWICE, THE AIR BAG, PLUGS, AIR BAG STRING AND SEVERAL OTHER COMPONENTS MORE THAN 15 TIMES. THE CONTACT HAD THE MODULAR UNDERNEATH THE DASHBOARD REPLACED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. THE HEADLIGHT ARE WORKING; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED, AND FELT THAT IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE AIR BAG COULD DEPLOY ON ITS OWN.THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65300.
FOR OVER 2 YEARS AND 30,000 MILES THE SPEEDOMETER IN MY 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO PICKUP HAS BEEN STICKING. STARTING AT ABOUT 20,000 MILES ABOUT EVERY 3 OR 4 MONTHS THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE WOULD STICK AT 25 MPH, 30 MPH OR 35 MPH. THIS STICKING WAS WHERE THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE WOULD STOP AT WHEN YOU TURNED THE KEY OFF. WHEN THE NEEDLE WOULD STICK IT CAUSED THE SPEEDO TO READ INCORRECT SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY WHEN THIS STARTED. I DID NOT TAKE IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WOULD REQUIRE TAKING A WHOLE DAY TO TAKE IT IN AND THE DEALER WOULD NOT GUARANTEE HE WOULD FIX IT IN ONE VISIT. THE DEALER SAID BRING IT IN. THEY WOULD CHECK IT AND ORDER THE PARTS. THEN BRING IT BACK WHEN THE PARTS ARRIVED. BEFORE WASTING THE TIME WITH THE DEALER I TRIED REMOVING THE BATTERY CABLE AND ALLOWING THE COMPUTER SYSTEM TO RESET ITSELF. THIS WORKED FOR THE FIRST 10 TIMES THE SPEEDO STUCK. THE SPEEDO IS STUCK AGAIN AND REMOVING THE BATTERY CABLE OVER 10 TIMES HAS NOT RESET THE SPEEDO CORRECTLY. GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS SPEEDO PROBLEM FOR OVER 5 YEARS BUT IS ONLY BANDAIDING THE PROBLEM. THIS SPEEDO PROBLEM IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
1. I OBSERVERED ON 3 OCCASSIONS INTERMITTENT LOW SPEED BRAKING PROBLEMS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON 23MAY05 AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. 2. WHILE PARKED AND IDLING THE VEHICLE ON 11JUN05, THERE WAS A LOUD BANG NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. A PART OF THE BRAKING SYTEM FROM UNDER THE HOOD LOOKS LIKE IT SEPERATED UNDER PRESSURE FROM THE REST OF THE MASTER CYLINDER. THIS RESULTED IN LOSS OFF MOST BRAKE FLUID. 3. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SHOP, BUT REPAIRS WILL NOT COMMENCE TILL 13JUN05.
2004.5 LLY 2500HD SILVERADO DURAMAX TOWING 1700 LUND PROSPORT IN ~85 DEGREE AMBIENT. I WAS REQUIRED TO TURN OF THE A/C AND LIMIT THE POWER AS THE ENGINE TEMP CONTINUED TO CLIMB BEYOND 210 AND INTO THE 235-240 DEGREE RANGE. THIS IS A CONSTANT PROBELM WITH THIS ENGINE UNDER MINIMAL LOAD. DEALER HAS NO FIX FOR THIS TRUCK WHICH IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND GM KEEPS SAYING THEY ARE WORKING ON THE PROBLEM. IF I CONTINUED OPERATING MY TRUCK AS NORMAL THE ENGINE WOULD SUSTAIN OVERHEATING DAMAGE THUS CAUSING GREAT DAMAGE TO COMPONENTS FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD.
BRAKES FAILED WHILE APPROACHING INTERSECTION CAUSING VEHICLE TO COME TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. APPLIED BRAKES LIGHTLY WHILE APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION, AND WHEN APPLING BRAKES HARDER, TO COME TO COMPLETE STOP, THEY WENT TO THE FLOOR, CAUSING VEHICLE TO ROLL INTO INTERSECTION BEFORE STOPPING ALMOST BEING BROADSIDED. MY WIFE HAD THE SAME FAILURE ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE BRAKES FEELING SPONGY ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS AND WE WERE TOLD ,"THE BRAKES ARE WORKING NORMAL" AFTER THE NEAR ACCIDENT ON 6/7/05 IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THEY WOULD BLEED THE BRAKES AND THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT GM ABOUT THE PROBLEM . THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME TO GET RID OF THE TRUCK AS THE BRAKES COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. I FILED A CLAIM WITH GM THAT EVENING AND THEY GOT BACK TO ME ON 6/10/05 SAYING THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
I HAVE SURVEYED GM TRUCKS/SUVS/VANS WHEN MEETING THEM IN THE INCOMING LANE. IT QUITE APPARENT THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE DRLS. I HAVE CALUCLATED THAT 3% OF THEM HAVE A BURNED OUT LIGHT. START WATHING FOR THEM ON YOUR DAILY DRIVES AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT I MEAN.
2500HD W/ALLISON TRANSMISSION. HAVE TAKEN TRUCK IN SEVERAL TIMES TO DEALER BECAUSE WHILE BACKING UP IN REVERSE THE TRANNY SURGES. DEALER KEEPS SAYING THAT THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT HAND TURN THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THIS OCCURRED ON NORMAL ROADS DURING NORMAL STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. UPON INSPECTION, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING SHAFT HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED. UPDATED 3/9/2006 - LEFT FRONT AXLE FRONT SEALS LEAKED. THE CONSUMER HEARD NOISE IN THE REAR END. THE POWER STEERING PUMP FLOW CONTROL WAS REPLACED. THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL SHAFT SEAL WERE REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE CHOPPED DUE TO ALIGNMENT BEING OUT OF ADJUSTMENT. DRIVER'S DOOR HAD TO BE REALIGNED. MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. *NM
DT: THE TRUCK STOPS AND HAS NO POWER BRAKES OR STEERING CONTROL. WHEN IT COMES TO A FINAL STOP IT CANNOT BE RESTARTED. THE COMPUTER LIGHT COMES ON, STATING SERVICE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED. ONCE CONSUMER WAITED ABOUT FIVE MINUTES BEFORE TRUCK RESTARTED.*AK
DT: NOT HAD A BRAKE PROBLEM UNTIL APPLIED BRAKE PRESSURE. WHILE DRIVING HOME SAW ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND HIT BRAKES AND SLID TO WHAT SEEMED A LONG WAY. FELT THERE WAS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THIS WAS THE FIRST INCIDENT OF THIS TYPE. THIS DID RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT, STRIKING VEHICLE IN FRONT. NO REPAIRS. ONE PERSON DIED AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT. CONSUMER FELT BRAKES CONTRIBUTED TO THIS ACCIDENT. *AK
SPEEDOMETER FAILED AFTER 38,000 MILES. NEEDLE STICKS AT 80 MPH AND UP, AND WILL EVENTUALLY GO BACK TO ZERO, BUT WILL USUALLY GIVE WRONG SPEED AND NOT MOVE.*JB

2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EXPERIENCED COMPLETE SHUTDOWN WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC.*MR THE MANUFACTURER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH, FUEL PUMP, COMPUTER MODULE AND INSTALLED ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM TO MONITOR THE TRUCK. DUE TO ALL THE PROBLEMS THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED THE MANUFACTURER REPLACED THE TRUCK. *NM
MY 4 WHEEL DRIVE PICKUP HAS SHIFTED FROM 2 WHEEL DRIVE TO LOW 4 WHEEL DRIVE WITHOUT COMMAND. IT IS NOW IN THE SHOP FOR THE THIRD TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS COULD BE DEADLY AT HIGH SPEEDS. I AM AWAIR OF ONE TRUCK OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL THAT CRASHED INTO A DITCH WHEN THIS HAPPENED.

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PULLED INTO ANOTHER LANE WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH DUE MILD TO MEDIUM WINDS. WHILE STEERING TO CORRECT THE DIRECTION OF THE VEHICLE THE WIND STOPPED BLOWING CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE OVERCORRECTED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TRAVEL TWO LANES IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OR REMEDY FOR THE PROBLEM. THERE IS A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH A FACTORY SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ON 07/26/06.
DT: DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, AND A PIECE OF PVC PIPE WENT INTO THE FRONT OF THE GAS TANK AND THEN MOST OF THE WAY OUT. RIGHT NOW, THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 15 POUNDS OF PVC PIPE STUCK IN THE TANK. THE ALUMINUM COVER ONLY COVERS THE BACK AND THE SIDE OF THE GAS TANK.*AK
MY 2004 CHEVY TRUCK WAS RECALLED BECAUSE OF INSTRUMENT PANEL MALFUNCTIONS. A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED; HOWEVER, IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE PLAN TO CORRECT THIS HAS ARBITRARY RECALL PARAMETERS, IE 7 YEAR/70,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE IS 3 YEARS OLD AND HAS 96,000 MILES AND HAS EXPERIENCED THIS MALFUNCTION. I DID CONTACT CHEVY BUT NO CONCRETE REPAIR PLAN WAS ESTABLISHED. *JB
2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO REAR ROTORS AND DISC PADS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE.*MR ONE YEAR AFTER INITIAL VEHICLE INSPECTION THE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT THE PADS WERE BAD AND THE ROTORS WERE RUSTED AND PITTED. THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 15900 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE INSPECTION. *NM
DT: VENTURE VAN. ON THE FIRST DAY OWNING THE VEHICLE WINDSHIELD MADE A LOUD WHISTLING SOUND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE DEALER HAS HAD IT 4 TIMES, AND REPLACED THE SEALING MATERIAL, BUT IT STILL WHISTLES. IT IS LOOSE, AND A SAFETY HAZARD. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAYS THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG IN THE EPOXY SEALANT THAT WAS INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY. SOME SEALANT WAS ADDED TO THE CENTER TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD, BUT IT STILL WHISTLES. ON THE 27TH, AFTER THE NEW WINDSHIELD AND SEALANT WAS ADDED THE WINDSHIELD BLEW OUT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.*AK
DT: THE CONSUMER STATES THAT THE AMERITECH BY GENERAL TIRE HAS DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WITH TREAD SEPARATION. THE TWO FRONT TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO AND THE 4 REAR TIRES NEED TO BE REPLACED NOW. THE DEALERSHIP AGREED THAT THE TIRES NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THE MANUFACTURER SAID THAT THEY WOULD SUPPLY THE CONSUMER WITH NEW TIRES IF THEY HAD THEM. THE CONSUMER HAS BEEN WAITING FOR THE TIRES FOR 3 WEEKS. THE CONSUMER TALKED TO GENERAL MOTORS ABOUT THE TIRES. THE CONSUMER STATES THAT THE TIRES ARE UNDER WARRANTY. THE TIRES ARE A YEAR OLD AND HAVE 14,000 MILES ON THEM. THE FIRST TWO TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 6,000 MILES. THE TIRE LINE IS LT215/85R16. ALL THE TIRES ARE FROM THE SAME LINE AND HAVE BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED.*AK *MR
ALL 5 (FIVE) TIRES THAT CAME ON MY 2004 SILVERADO ARE DRY ROTTING. I AM A 59 YEAR OLD DISABLED WOMAN AND VEHICLE HAD 18000 WHEN MY SON NOTICED THE ROTTING. *JB
CONTACT STATES: WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH VEHICLE IN FRONT SLAMMED ON BRAKES WHEN DRIVER TRIED TO STOP AND MISSED THAT VEHICLE, BUT BRAKES FAILED, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. AFTERWARDS BRAKES WORKED, BUT SUSTAINED $ 2,700 WORTH OF DAMAGE. REPAIR WORK WAS BEING DONE TODAY. *AK
2004 CHEVY SILVERADO LS EXT. CAB 1500 4X4. BRAKE PEDAL GOING TO FLOOR BOARD WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. MUST PUMP BRAKE PEDAL TO BE ABLE TO STOP. HAS HAPPENED 12 TO 15 TIMES SINCE I TOOK DELIVERY 12/20/03. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER 2 TIMES AND OF COURSE DID NOT SHOW UP WHEN THEY TEST DROVE IT. SERVICE MANAGER SAID NOT TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAUSE OF THE ANTILOCK BRAKES, THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO ACT AND STOP THE TRUCK. HE TOLD ME TO STOP BEING SO PARANOID AND TO CONTACT MY SERVICE MANAGER IF I HAVE FURTHER PROBLEMS. I TOLD HIM THAT IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT, MY LAWYER WILL BE IN CONTACT WITH HIM. IT WAS LEFT AT THAT POINT. I SEE THAT CHEVY AND GMC ARE CALLING BACK 1999 TO 2002 PICKUPS AND SUV'S FOR BRAKE PROBLEMS. DT: WHILE DRIVING, THE CONSUMER FOUND HE WAS UNABLE TO GET THE ENGINE OUT OF 3RD GEAR AS THOUGH IT NEEDED TO BE GEARED DOWN. THE VEHICLE IS AN AUTOMATIC AND THOUGHT IT WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. HOWEVER, WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN, IT PRETTY CONSISTENT IN DOING SO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER SAID IT COULD BE FIXED AND DID REPAIR. DIAGNOSED A SHIFT SOLENOID, WHICH WAS REPLACED. ABOUT 1 DAY LATER AFTER REPAIR, THE SAME THING OCCURRED. RETURNED TO DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VALVE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER TAKING THE VALVE BODY APART, IT WAS FOUND THAT IT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER STATED THE TRANSMISSION WAS THE PROBLEM. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON AND THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAD ILLUMINATED. SPOKE WITH DEALER ABOUT THIS. THE NEXT DAY, THE GAUGES WORKED BUT THE LED LIGHT WOULD NOT LIGHT UP ALONG WITH THE ODOMETER. AFTER DRIVING HALF A MILE, THE LIGHTS SLOWLY COME ON BUT FELT THIS WAS A SAFETY CONCERN AS IT MAY BE ELECTRICAL. *AK THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM 3RD TO 4TH GEAR. *JB
THE CONNECTOR TO THE FAN BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR BURNED UP AND MELTED ON MY 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE TECHNICIAN THAT WORKED ON THIS VEHICLE SAID THAT THE CONNECTOR SHORTED OUT, CAUSING THE RESISTOR PLUG TO BURN UP. HE ALSO STATED THAT THIS WAS COMMON IN CERTAIN GM VEHICLES. CHEVROLET SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM.*AK
THERE IS A RATTLE IN THE FRONT, THE DEALER'S MECHANIC SAID IT IS THE STEERING SHAFT. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY, THIS TIME THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID IT WOULD COST 150-200 DALLARS TO REPAIR OR GREASE. HE ALSO SAID CHEVROLET HAD CORRECTED THE PROBLEM, BUT WOULD NOT REPLACE MINE. *TR
DT: 2004 CHEVROLET 6500 TRUCK. THE CONSUMER STATES THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE STEP TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE. HE FELL OFF THE TRUCK AND BROKE HIS HIP. THE FUEL TANK ON THE VEHICLE IS ROUND, AND THE STEPS ARE MOUNTED TO THE SIDE OF THE TANK. THE SECOND STEP THE SAFETY GRIP DOES NOT EXTEND ALL THE WAY TO THE EDGE. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WITH AN OAK TREE AT 5 MPH. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER FRONTAL AIR BAG DEPLOYED. ALTHOUGH CONSUMER WAS PROPERLY RESTRAINED THE CRASH PUSHED THE ENGINE THROUGH THE FIREWALL AGAINST THE PASSENGER'S SEAT. DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES, AND AN AMBULANCE TRANSPORTED THE DRIVER TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL. *AK
DT: THE CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT AN INSTANT ACCELERATION PROBLEM WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT AND WHEN APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE. THIS OFTEN OCCURRED WHEN STOPPING AT LOW SPEEDS, SUCH AS 10 MPH OR LOWER, AND WAS INTERMITTENT IN NATURE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST FIVE TIMES. WHEN BRAKES PRESSURE WAS APPLIED THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED. THE CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKE PRESSURE AND REAR WHEELS SPUN, SMOKE APPEARED, AND BURNING RUBBER FELL ON THE PAVEMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER CHECKED THE CALIBRATION AND PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. THESE MEASURES DID NOT REVEAL ANY TYPE OF PROBLEM OR FAILURE. THE DEALER INSTALLED A DEVICE INTO THE VEHICLE TO RECORD ANY INCIDENT. HOWEVER, WHILE THE DEVICE WAS INSTALLED THERE WERE NO RECORDED INCIDENTS OF THIS TYPE. A CALL WAS MADE TO THE MANUFACTURER, WHO SENT A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, NO FAILURE WAS DETERMINED. NO CORRECTIONS OR REPAIRS WERE DONE AT THIS TIME. THE CONSUMER FELT THIS WAS STILL A PROBLEM, MOST RECENT INCIDENT OCCURRED YESTERDAY WITH NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THIS HAPPENED. *AK *NM
IN JANUARY 2004, I BOUGHT A NEW CHEVY 3500 DURAMAX DIESEL TRUCK. SINCE MARCH 2005, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE INJECTORS REPLACED A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES. NOW AT 202,000 THE INJECTORS NEED REPLACED AGAIN. CHEVY WILL NOT HELP OUT ON THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE READ THAT EVERYONE SHOULD FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THIS DEPARTMENT SO THAT THIS CAN BE INVESTIGATED. IN NOVEMBER 2011, SOMEONE WAS TOLD THERE WERE NOT COMPLAINTS. BEING A CHEVY OWNER WITH THESE INJECTOR PROBLEMS, I AM WRITING TO COMPLAIN. HOPEFULLY, THIS DEPARTMENT WILL CONDUCT THE INVESTIGATION AND HELP ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM GET A RESPONSE FROM CHEVY TO DO SOMETHING. THEN I TOOK IT INTO A FRIENDS PLACE, "BRAKE MASTERS OF CAMARILLO. THEY TOLD ME IT IS THE POWER STERRINNG PUMP. SO I TOOKIT BACK TO THE, AND I TOLD THEM I DIDN'T WANT IT BACK TIL IT WAS FIXED. THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD JUST SIT THERE AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG W/ IT. SO I TOOK IT AND NOW I'M GOING TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN FOR THE SAME WINEDY NOISE AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY NOW. VEHICLE IS USED FOR PERSONAL USE 80-85% HWY/CTY, 10-15% GRAVEL ROAD, 1-2% OFFROAD. TIRES HAVE BEEN INSPECTED BY CAR DEALER AND LOCAL TIRE DEALER WHO STATE THE PROBLEM COULD BE CAUSED BY ROCKS OR ROUGH ROADS. CUSTOMER CLAIMS VEHICLE IS NOT ABUSED OR BEING USED ANY DIFFERENTLY THAN PREVIOUSLY OWNED FULL SIZE PICKUPS, AND NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF TIRE PROBLEM BEFORE.
