BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED ACCORDING TO DEALER.....ESTIMATE FOR THE WORK IS $1,800. THIS SEEMS VERY PREMATURE FOR A 6 YEAR OLD HEAVY DUTY TRUCK. *KB
THE HVAC CONTROLS, AIR DOOR ACTUATOR; PART #89018365, FAILED ON MY TRUCK ONE EVENING ALLOWING ONLY COLD AIR TO FLOW THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE DEFROSTER/HEATER. NOT ONLY DID I HAVE COLD AIR BLOWING ALL OF THE TIME ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE TRUCK BUT THE WINDSHIELD WOULD FOG UP DUE TO THE COLD AIR THUS RESTRICTING MY VISION. THIS WAS NOT A GOOD THING TO HAPPEN WHILE RETURNING HOME ONE EVENING FROM ANOTHER CITY. I LOOKED ON LINE AND IT APPEARS CHEVY HAS HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS PLASTIC SWITCH. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER VEHICLES IN OVER 40 YEARS OF DRIVING. IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO FIX. CHEVY DEALER WANTED OVER $500.00 TO REPAIR PLUS $263.56 FOR THE PART! I HAD IT DONE ELSEWHERE FOR $510.30. SHOULD THERE BE A RECALL ON THIS PART? WHY DOES THIS PART FAIL SO FREQUENTLY? *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER WILL READ 110MPH WHEN I'M JUST DOING APPROXIMATELY 34-40. *TT
VEHICLE SPEED WOULD NOT INCREASE. MOTOR WOULD REV UP BUT VEHICLE WOULDN'T GO ANY FASTER. TRANSMISSION OVERHAULED AT A COST OF 1400.00. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BACKLIGHT AND THE GAUGE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HAD BECOME ABNORMALLY DARK. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SEE ANY OF THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, INCLUDING THE TACHOMETER AND SPEEDOMETER, WHICH ALSO FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIR. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT ABNORMALLY DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL INTO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME WHERE IT WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THERE WAS EXCESSIVE RUST ON THE FRAME AND THE REAR BRAKE LINE WAS FRACTURED. THE REAR BRAKE LINE WAS REPLACED. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE OTHER FRONT BRAKE LINES WERE ALSO RUSTED AND COULD POSSIBLY FRACTURE IF NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
BATTERY WENT DEAD AND I EXCHANGE WITH A NEW ONE. THE AIR CONDITIONER IS BLOWING HOT AIR. THE AIR CONDITIONER AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL WAS WORKING FINE WHEN THE PICKUP WAS LAST DRIVEN WHICH WAS ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT PARTS AND LABOR WILL BE IN THE $500.00. *TT
MY 2005 CREW CAB 4X4 CHEVY SILVERADO AIR BAG LIGHT HAS COME ON AT 75000 MILES. FROM MY SHORT ONE HOUR ONLINE RESEARCH THERE ARE NUMEROUS GM SUVS AND TRUCKS FROM 2003 - 2011 WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. MOST GM CERTIFIED REPAIR FACULTIES ARE NOT ABLE TO CORRECT THIS ***MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE*** WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT COST TO THEIR AUTO OWNERS (AVERAGE COST $400-$3000). COMMON MALFUNCTIONING PART - IMPACT SENSOR 15103522 (AVERAGE COST OF PART $100; AVERAGE ANALYSIS COST $200; AVERAGE LABOR COST $87 A HOUR). I DID CALL GM CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH NO RESOLVE. CASE NUMBER 71-999598205. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY ADDITIONAL COST FOR A COMMON MANUFACTURE SAFETY ISSUE THAT WILL RESULT IN A CAUSE OF DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. PLEASE USE OUR TAX DOLLARS WISELY IN HAVING GM REPAIR THIS ISSUE AT NO COST TO THE OWNERS. (WHO WE, INCLUDING YOU, ARE THE TAXPAYERS THAT BAILED OUT GM...WHY??? SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING CREATING SAFETY ISSUE. SINCE THEN OTHER GUAGES HAVE BEGAN CREATING ISSUES. CALLED DEALERSHIP RECENTLY AFTER BEING TOLD BY A FRIEND THEIR WAS A RECALL AND DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE RECALL HAD EXPIRED BUT I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF SUCH. AIR BAG LIGHT ALSO CONTINUES TO GO OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING ATTEMPTING TO STOP WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LINE FAILED AND THE OTHER BRAKE LINES WERE FAULTY AND WOULD ALSO FAIL EVENTUALLY. THE FAILED BRAKE LINE WAS REPLACED ONLY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,914.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE WAS WEARING A HOLE INTO THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000. UPDATED 10/27/11*BF UPDATED 3/30/12 *CN
AT LOW SPEEDS COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM WILL FUNCTION AND PULSE CAUSING AN EXTENDED BRAKING DISTANCE. ALONG WITH IT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE IT IS ALSO AN ANNOYING NUISANCE ALWAYS HEARING THE LOUD PULSING OF THE ABS BRAKE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 9 MPH, THE ABS ACTIVATED AND OVERRODE THE BRAKES WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BUT NO FAILURE CODES GENERATED FOR THE BRAKES. THE DEALER THEN LUBRICATED AND CLEANED THE BRAKES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
SPEEDOMETER STOPPED FUNCTIONING. IT DISPLAYS I'M DRIVING @ 120 MPH AND GETS STUCK THERE, WHEN I'M ONLY GOING APPROXIMATELY 30-40 MPH. THIS IS RIDICULOUS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS MALFUNCTION AS I SEE THERE ARE PLENTY OF COMPLIANTS WITH SAME ISSUE. HOW CAN I DRIVE SAFELY WITHOUT KNOWING THE SPEED LIMIT I'M GOING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A CEMENT BARRIER. THE CONTACT SUFFERED A BROKEN JAW AND THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. IN ADDITION, THE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
NOTICED ELECTRICAL BURNING ODOR WHILE ON LONG TRIP ON INTERSTATE. OCCASIONALLY OPERATED THE AIR CONDITIONING, WITH BLOWER ON HIGH. ONE WEEK LATER, BLOWER MOTOR FAILED TO OPERATE ON HIGHEST (5) SETTING. PULLED 7 PIN CONNECTOR FROM BLOWER RESISTOR, FOUND RED WIRE AND CONNECTOR FOR HIGH SPEED, BURNED/MELTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE REAR HALF OF TRANSFER CASE HOUSING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,637.
WHILE BRAKING ON ALL PAVEMENT CONDITIONS, AS VEHICLE SLOWS, BRAKES GO INTO ABS MODE AND VEHICLE SURGES FORWARD, REQUIRING ADDITIONAL PEDAL FORCE TO STOP. OCCURS AT 5 MPH OR LESS EVEN ON DRY PAVEMENT. OCCURS WITH ALL PEDAL PRESSURES. *TR
DRIVING HOME DOWN TWO LANE ROAD AT 35 MPH. CAME TO CURVE AND SLOW TRAFFIC AHEAD. WENT TO APPLY BRAKES LIKE NORMALLY, THEY FAILED. PEDAL TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR WITH LITTLE TO NO STOPPING EFFECTS ON VEHICLE. VEHICLE IS A 5 SPD STANDARD. I WAS ABLE TO DOWN SHIFT AND APPLY PARK BRAKE TO SLOW VEHICLE. I WAS UNABLE TO STOP COMPLETELY AND HAD TO DRIVE OFF THE ROAD INTO THE ROAD SIDE DITCH TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH THE STOPPED TRAFFIC. ONCE STOPPED I GOT OUT TO CHECK FOR DAMAGE. NO COSMETIC DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED TO THE VEHICLE. I DID SEE BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING FROM UNDER THE TRUCK ON THE DRIVER SIDE. CLOSER LOOK REVEALED THAT THE BRAKE LINE HAD RUST COMPLETELY IN HALF AND BLEED THE BRAKE SYSTEM DRY. NOTICED THAT THE OTHER LINES WERE IN SIMILAR CONDITION. THEY ALL SEEM TO BE SEVERELY RUSTED AT THE POINT WHERE THE BRAKE LINES IS RETAINED BY A GREEN PLASTIC CLIP ON THE UPPER PORTION OF THE FRAME RAIL. HAD VEHICLE TOWED HOME, REPLACED VISIBLE BAD LINES. TWO MONTHS LATER BRAKE SECTION IN REAR OF TRUCK HID BY UNDERCOATING FAILED AS WELL. THANKFULLY WAS PARKED WHEN IT HAPPENED THIS TIME. TRUCK IS WELL MAINTAINED AND CLEANED AND WAXED SEASONALLY. THE UNDER SIDE OF THIS TRUCK IS HORRIBLE. THERE IN NOT A PLACE ON IT THAT ISN'T RUST. SHOULDN'T HAVE THIS FROM A US MADE PRODUCT. I HAVE OLDER VEHICLES FROM THE 60'S THAT HAVE SAT FOR YEAR AND LOOK ALMOST NEW UNDERNEATH. MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THESE VEHICLES. I JUST HOPE THAT NOBODY GETS HURT OR KILLED BECAUSE THERE VEHICLES RUSTS OUT AND CAUSES CRITICAL SAFETY SYSTEMS TO FAIL. I ALSO HOPE THAT THE NHTSA WILL TAKE THE STEPS NECESSARY TO MAKE PEOPLE AWARE AND HELP TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. SHAMEFUL GM OWNER. *TR
STRANGE SMELL IN A/C UNIT WHEN TURNED ON. FAN BLOWER WASN'T BLOWING HIGH ENOUGH, THEN EVENTUALLY STOPPED WORKING. TOOK VEHICLE TO MECHANIC. STATED THE FAN AND RESISTER HAD BURNED UP. THERE WAS A RECALL ON MANUAL A/C BUT NOT ON AUTO. THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED IN MY AUTO A/C AS HAPPENED IN MANUAL A/C WHY IS MY VEHICLE NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL WHEN IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH WHEN HE NOTICED A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE. WHILE ACCELERATING TO APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE NOISE WOULD DIMINISH. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE STEERING BOX HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 23,000.
SUDDEN LOSS OF ALL BRAKES AFTER PRESSING ON BRAKE PEDAL HARD, ABLE TO USE PARKING BREAK ONLY TO STOP. FOUND BURST/LEAKING BRAKE HYDRAULIC LINE UNDERNEATH VEHICLE IN VICINITY OF DRIVERS DOOR. LINE WAS HEAVILY CORRODED. *TR
ABS LOW SPEED ACTIVATION. AS I WAS STOPPING AROUND 5 MPH ABS WOULD START TO ACTIVATE CAUSING THE TRUCK TO NOT STOP CORRECTLY. THIS WOULD HAPPEN MOST OF THE TIME WHEN STOPPING. TOOK TRUCK TO DEVOE CHEVY DEALER ,ALEXANDRIA INDIANA, FOR REPAIR. BOTH FRONT ABS HUB SENSORS NEEDED REPLACED AND HUBS CLEANED AT COST OF $359.10 TRUCK HAS ONLY 55900 MILES. *KB
ABS ENGAGES WHEN ROLLING TO A STOP SIGN AT VERY LOW SPEEDS. THE BRAKE PEDAL GETS SOFT AND YOU ROLL PAST WHERE YOU THINK YOU WOULD HAVE STOPPED. THE ABS LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I DISABLED THE ABS BY PULLING THE FUSE AND THE PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR. I THINK IT IS A ABS SENSOR ISSUE AS THERE ARE NO LEAKS OR LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND EVERTYTHING ELSE LOOKS FINE. *TT
I WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKE THE PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. I PUSHED MY EMERGENCY BRAKE PEDAL TO HELP ME STOP.`I WAS GOING ABOUT 30 TO 40 MILES PER HOUR. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
THE AUTOMATIC 4 WHEEL DRIVE SHIFTS FROM 2 WHEEL HIGH TO 4 WHEEL LOW WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE REPLACED ENCODER ONCE AND NOW DOES IT AGAIN. THIS NOT UNCOMMON IN CHEVY P/U'S. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE WRITER THIS HAPPENED TO A TRUCK WHILE IT WAS GOING DOWN ROAD AT 70MPH AND IT DESTROYED POWER TRAIN. THE PERSON WAS LUCKY THAT THEY HAD THEIR SEAT BELTS ON. PROBLEM # 2 IS SOMETIMES THE SPEEDOMETER WORKS AND SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT ANOTHER COMMON DEFECT. WHEN I WORKED FOR A PLUMBING COMPANY THEY HAD THIS SOME OF THEIR TRUCKS. I ALSO TALKED TO A FORMER GM MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT THESE PROBLEMS WERE COMMON WITH CHEVY TRUCKS. THERE ARE RECALLS FOR HUB CAPS AND LIGHTS BUT NOT FOR SOMETHING AS SERIOUS AS THESE 2 DEFECTS. HOW LONG BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR DIES BEFORE THIS IS CORRECTED? *TR
ENGINE WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT CRANK ,WOULD NOT CRANK HAD TO KEEP PUMPING GAS PEDDLE WHEN IT DID CRANK I HAD TO KEEP PUMPING GAS PEDAL TO KEEP CRANKED ,CAR WOULD BARELY MOVE IT WAS SPITTING AND SPUTTERING REALLY BAD THEN IT BACK FIRED HARD AND I MADE IT HOME THEN IT WOULD NOT CRANK I REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND THE FUEL PUMP RELAY SWITCH,IT RAN FOR ABOUT 30 MIN. THEN IT WOULD NOT CRANK,PULLED OUT RELAY SWITCH AND PUT IT BACK IN AND IT WILL CRANK FOR 2 OR 3 TIMES,THEN IT WILL TURN OVER BUT NOT CRANK AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE SPEEDOMETER WAS REGISTERING AN INACCURATE READING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND AUTHORIZED DEALER WHOM BOTH STATED THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. CURRENTLY THE SPEEDOMETER WAS INOPERABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED THE SERVICE WARRANTY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000. UPDATED 9/25/12 *CN THE DEALER AGREED TO PAY FOR THE LABOR, IF THE CONSUMER PAID FOR THE PARTS. UPDATED 10/04/12
I WAS DRIVING 75 MPH WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL ON, AND THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO 35 MPH. SHORTLY AFTER, ABOUT 10 MILES, THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. THE SPEEDOMETER RESET AFTER TURNING OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND WORKED PROPERLY. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN TWO MORE TIMES, AND THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED COMPLETELY. THE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ON AND IS STILL ON AT 123,000 MILES. DIAGNOSTIC CHECK SHOWED NUMBER 1 AIR BAG SENSOR FAULT. REPLACED SENSOR. AIR BAG LIGHT STILL ON. I SENT THE SPEEDOMETER HEAD TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC IN MINNESOTA, AND IT NOW WORKS FINE. *JB
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN MY 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO WITH THE AC ON AND THE CAB OF THE TRUCK STARTED TO FILL UP SMOKE. THE WIRES TO THE BLOWER MOTOR METED AND STARTED TO BURN. *TR
SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER AND FUEL GAGE SHOW FAULTY INDICATIONS, OFTEN NOT SHOWING ANYTHING AT ALL. *TT
ON 7/1/2011, MY 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO LOST BRAKES. THE LOSS OF BRAKES WAS CAUSED BY A LEAK FROM A CORRODED SECTION OF BRAKE LINE. I HAD THAT SECTION OF THE LINE REPLACED AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE. ON 6/12/2012, THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ANOTHER SECTION OF THE BRAKE LINE. THE CORRODED LINE SPLIT AND BRAKE FLUID WAS GUSHING OUT. LUCKILY, ON BOTH OCCASIONS I WAS ABLE TO STOP MY VEHICLE BEFORE CRASHING INTO SOMEONE OR SOMETHING. WHEN I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO MY MECHANIC, HE SAID THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE SO CORRODED THAT HE WOULD RECOMMEND REPLACING THE ENTIRE LINE FOR SAFETY. I ALSO HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO LOOK AT THE LINES AND WAS IN COMPLETE AGREEMENT WITH THE MECHANIC. MY VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS 6 YEARS OLD AND HAD 57,751 MILES ON IT. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED ABOUT A YEAR LATER AND THE MILEAGE WAS 62,719. *TR
THIS COMPLAINT IS TO DOCUMENT BRAKE LINE FAILURES ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR MY 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE BLEEDING MY BRAKES IN JUNE OF 2011, ONE OF THE REAR BRAKE LINES BURST AND THE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. THANKFULLY, THIS HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THE BURST WAS IN A SECTION OF THE LINE ACCESSIBLE FOR ME TO REPLACE. THEN, IN AUGUST OF 2013, MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP SUDDENLY AFTER SOMEONE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS TRAVELING 25 TO 30 MPH. WITH SOME MANEUVERING, I WAS ABLE TO AVOID HITTING THE PERSON BUT DRIFTED WELL THROUGH THE INTERSECTION BEFORE COMING TO A SLOW STOP. THANKFULLY NO ONE ELSE WAS THERE. FORTUNATELY, I COULD LITERALLY SEE MY HOUSE (AND MY CHILDREN WHO WERE WAITING FOR ME TO RETURN FROM WORK), AND WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND HAVE MY TRUCK TOWED TO A SERVICE SHOP THE NEXT DAY. THE SHOP REPLACED A SECTION OF THE REAR BRAKE LINES AND FELT THE REMAINDER OF THE LINES WERE STILL SAFE. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE BREAK WAS IN A DIFFERENT PLACE THAN THE FIRST BRAKE LINE FAILURE. THE THIRD BRAKE LINE FAILURE OCCURRED ON DECEMBER 5TH, 2014 WHEN MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO COME TO A SUDDEN STOP WHEN ANOTHER DRIVER CAME INTO MY LANE WITHOUT WARNING. AGAIN I WAS TRAVELING 25 TO 30 MPH AND NEARLY RAN HEAD ON INTO ANOTHER DRIVER AFTER MY TRUCK DRIFTED SLOWLY TO A STOP (PROBABLY TOOK 3 TIMES THE DISTANCE IT WOULD HAVE NORMALLY TAKEN TO STOP). AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, MY VEHICLE HAD ROUGHLY 67,100 MILES ON IT. ROUGHLY TWO-THIRDS OF THE TOTAL BRAKE LINE SYSTEM WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SEEING THE OTHER COMPLAINTS FILED FOR CHEVROLET SILVERADO?S AND GMC SIERRA'S, I SINCERELY HOPE THAT SOMETHING IS DONE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED BY THESE FAILING BRAKE LINES. *TR
IN JUNE, 2011, I BEGAN NOTICING MY ANTIFREEZE LEVELS WERE DROPPING SLIGHTLY. THERE WERE NO NOTICEABLE LEAKS OF ANTIFREEZE ANYWHERE. I ATTRIBUTED IT TO EVAPORATION & ADDED COOLANT. OVER TIME THE TRUCK STARTED USING MORE & MORE ANTIFREEZE. A FRIEND OF MINE NOTICED A PUFF OF WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE TAILPIPE. AT THE TIME I DIDN'T REALLY THINK ANYTHING OF IT. LAST WEEK WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AFTER FINISHING UP A "B" TRICK JOB (11PM), I NOTICED A KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. IT SMOOTHED OUT AFTER A FEW MILES OF DRIVING IT. THE NEXT DAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN ( I WORK 26 MILES FROM HOME) AGAIN IT SMOOTHED OUT & I WAS JUST GRATEFUL I GOT HOME SAFELY THAT NIGHT. BY THIS TIME I KNEW THERE WERE SOME SERIOUS ISSUES & DECIDED NOT TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. I BEGAN RESEARCHING THE ISSUE ON LINE & FOUND OTHERS THAT WERE EXPERIENCING IDENTICAL SYMPTOMS. TURNS OUT THE PROBLEM LIES WITH THE CYLINDER HEADS IN THE ENGINE MANUFACTURED FOR GM BY CASTECH. ACCORDING TO OTHER PEOPLE & BY GMS OWN ADMISSION, A FAULTY, WEAK MATERIAL WAS USED TO BUILD THE CYLINDER HEADS. OVER TIME THE MATERIAL WEARS AWAY CAUSING POROUS CRACKS & THE ANTIFREEZE SEEPS INTO THE OIL SYSTEM POLLUTING IT, CAUSING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. (BY THIS TIME MOST EXTENDED WARRANTIES ARE UP). THE ANTIFREEZE MIXES WITH THE OIL & IS EMITTED OUT OF THE TAILPIPE AS EXHAUST. THIS IS WHY NO TRACES OF ANTIFREEZE WERE FOUND & THE REASON FOR THE WHITE PUFF OF SMOKE. GM ISSUED A BULLETIN #06-06-01-019B IN JUNE 2007 INFORMING REPAIR TECHNICIANS ON WHERE TO LOOK FOR THE DAMAGE. THROUGH OTHER PEOPLES EXPERIENCES, I AM FINDING THE ENGINES WERE RUINED IN 90% OF THE CASES & GM CLAIMS NO RESPONSIBILITY. IN MY CASE I AM DRIVING A FRIEND'S VEHICLE WAITING ON WORD FROM MY MECHANIC AS TO MY OPTIONS. THESE REPAIRS ARE COSTLY. UP TO $5000!! THIS IS NOT FROM NORMAL WEAR & TEAR THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT & I FEEL A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. *KB

THE PROBLEM IS THE FAN ON GM TRUCKS BURNS OUT. WE WERE TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPT THAT THE WIRES WERE BURNED UP AND THAT THIS REQUIRED MORE PARTS AND SERVICE. NEEDED RESISTOR, CONNECTOR AND BLOWER TO REPAIR. THIS IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD WHICH IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED BY GM. APPARENTLY THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT MANY VEHICLE OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED BUT SINCE NO ONE HAS BEEN KILLED I GUESS THERE IS NOT REASON TO MANDATE A RECALL. WE WERE TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPT. THAT MANY VEHICLES ARE BEING BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. OUR VEHICLE HAS 38,000 MILES. WE HAVE A FRIEND WHO LIVES IN NJ THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITHIN A YEAR OF PURCHASING HIS NEW TRUCK. *TR

RED CHECK AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON CONSTANTLY. ALL REPAIR SHOPS INDICATE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY MORE, AND THE EXPENSE FOR REPAIR WOULD RUN FROM $450.00 TO $1,000.00. IT SEEMS THAT GM ALREADY KNOWS ABOUT THIS MALFUNCTION, SINCE THERE ARE MANY OTHER REPORTS. SINCE THE LIGHT IS ON, THE AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. IT WOULD SEEM THAT GM WOULD REPAIR THESE IMMEDIATELY UNLESS THEY WANT ANOTHER IGNITION SWITCH CATASTROPHE. IT SHOULDN'T TAKE SOMEONE DYING AS A RESULT OF THIS MALFUNCTION TO GET GM TO ACT. AS OF NOW, MY AIRBAG WILL NOT INFLATE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. *TR
UPON HAVING MY TRUCK INSPECTED FOR 2014, IT WAS REVEALED TO ME THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES ON THE TRUCK WERE SEVERELY CORRODED AND NEEDED REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A "COMMON" PROBLEM ON CHEVY TRUCKS. THE COST OF REPAIRING THE BRAKE LINES HAS BEEN ESTIMATED AT A MUCH HIGHER NUMBER THAN THE $500 THAT GMC QUOTES. ON TOP OF THAT I FAIL TO SEE WHY THEY CAN CREATE STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST SYSTEMS, BUT APPARENTLY USE CHEAP METAL FOR THEIR HARD BRAKE LINES. I ACTUALLY HAD THE TRUCK UNDERCOATED AT THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP SO THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THESE TYPE OF ISSUES. I'M NOT SURE WHO UNDERCOATED THE VEHICLE, BUT I WILL NEVER GET IT DONE BY CHEVROLET AGAIN. I HAVE HAD MUCH OLDER VEHICLES (1982) THAT WENT DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF YEARS BEFORE NEEDING ANY HARD BRAKE REPAIRS. I HAVE READ ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION INTO THESE VEHICLES UP TO THE YEAR 2003, BUT I THINK THAT THE PROBLEM MUST STILL EXIST IN NEWER VEHICLES SUCH AS MINE. *TR

SOME FORUMS THAT I HAVE READ STATED THAT THE TRUCK COULD CATCH FIRE, I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SITUATION, MOST PEOPLE SAY THAT THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM ARE AROUND $500 - $700, BUT THIS IS OCCURRING IN HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF GM VEHICLES. *TR

A RETUALE OF HITTING THE TOP OF THE STEERING COLUME, RUNNING THE GEAR SHIFT UP AND DOWN SEVERAL TIMES, IT MAY START. ANOTHER TRIP WAS MADE TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP IN THE AREA, IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR. WITH A COST OF OVER $800.00. JUST TO TURN AROUND A FEW DAYS LATER THE SAME THING. A CALL WAS MADE TO THEM, WELL YOU HAVE TO BRING IT BACK IN, BUT IT WANT START. GIVE ME A BREAK. WEEKS PASSED. FINNALY AT THE END OF OUR ROPE. WE RETURNED TO THAT DEALERSHIP. JUST TO BE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. MANY APPOINTMENTS, CLASSES AND JUST SPECIAL THINGS WERE MISSED BECAUSE THE TRUCK JUST WOULDN'T START. EACH TIME AAA WAS CALLED THEY WOULD SAY "IT IS NOT THE STARTER". TUESDAY JUNE 23RD A JOB INTERVEIW WAS A REAL PROBLEM, THE TRUCK WOULDN'T START. A FAMILY MEMBER WAS CALLED WHICH CAUSED THEM A PROBLEM. MY WIFE FINALLY GOT IT STARTED AND WENT STRAIGHT TO PILES AGAIN FOR THEM TO CHECK IT OUT, JUST TO BE TOLD I'M SO SORRY WE CAN'T DO THAT. ONE SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THIS IS I STARTED IT AFTER 55 MINUTES OF AGONY THE TRUCK WAS STARTED WITHOUT PUTTING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THIS MEANING IF A CHILD OR ANYONE COULD NOT REACH THE PETALS COULD POSSIBILY START THE VEHICAL. I HAS BEEN "PASS THE BUCK SO MUCH" IT'S MIND BOGGELING. OUR NERVES ARE JUST PASSED ALL THIS. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A COMPANY PROBLEM THAT WE CAN'T GET ANSWERS FOR. THIS JUST LIVE WITH IT "ATTITUDE" IS TOO MUCH!!!.
