PREMATURE FUEL LINE FAILURE DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION CAUSING SPILLAGE OF FUEL AND RISK OF FIRE. ALL UNDERBODY FUEL LINES EXCESSIVELY CORRODED AND DEVELOPED LEAKS WITH FUEL SPILLING ON HOT EXHAUST SYSTEM PARTS. *TR
HEATER CONTROLL MODULE FAILURE WIRES HEAT UP AND MELT THE SHEILDING AND THE CONNECTOR ENDS.
WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING, MY BRAKES BEGAN PULSATING RAPIDLY, EVENTUALLY STOPPING ABOUT 10 FEET BEYOND WHERE I INTENDED TO STOP. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME AN NONE COMING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS, I HAD THE VEHICLES BRAKE SYSTEM EVALUATED ONLY TO FIND OUT THE ROOT CAUSE IS THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SENSORS ACTIVATING DUE TO CORROSION AND RUSTING. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN TYPICAL WITH THESE MODELS OF VEHICLES FOR MANY YEARS. IN READING ONLINE POSTS, I SEEN THIS IS A COMMON AND KNOWN ISSUE, BUT THE DEALER DOES NOT RECOGNIZE IT, THEREFORE A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED BECAUSE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN BODILY INJURY OR DEATH! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY AT 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO PUSH THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HYBRID COMPONENTS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT NO SUCCESSFUL REMEDY WAS DISCOVERED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD SEIZE WHEN IN REVERSE AND THE CHECK POWER FLUID AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO EXPERIENCING THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATOR PROVIDING INACCURATE READINGS AND THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ALSO FUNCTIONING ERRATICALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUES BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000. ..UPDATED 01/16/2013 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 10 MONTHS, WHERE THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPAIR IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 55 MPH WHEN THE FRAME BED OF THE VEHICLE DROPPED. THE CONTACT THEN PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE SPRING SHACKLES TO THE FRAME WERE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WAS CORROSION ON THE FRAME AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE IN REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 108,617.
BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS AFFECTED. WHEN COMING TO A STOP PEDAL SINKS AND VEHICLE ROLLS FORWARD. I FIND THIS AS A SAFETY RECALL FOR 2001,2002 BUT NOT FOR MY 2005 2500HD. HAVING WORK DONE AT A REPAIR FACILITY. RUSTED ABS SENSORS AND RUSTED WHEEL HUBS. REPLACEMENT COST ABOUT $700. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT SINCE 2001 THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CORRECTED BEFORE 2005. *TR
SPEEDOMETER STARTED STICKING AT 60MPH AND THEN IF THE TRUCK WAS RESTARTED IT WOULD GO BACK TO 0 AND START WORKING AGAIN AND THEN WOULD STICK AGAIN LATER. WELL NOW IT'S JUST STUCK AT 0 AND DOESN'T MOVE AT ALL. ALL THE OTHER GAUGES WORK PROPERLY THOUGH. *JS
FUEL LINES, SENDING UNIT AND FUEL HOSES CORROSION CAUSING DIESEL FUEL TO LEAK. *TR
THIS TRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 6.0L VORTEC V8 ENGINE AND HAS DEVELOPED AN EXHAUST LEAK ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ENGINE AT THE MANIFOLD GASKETS! THE LEAK IS FROM THE PORTS WHERE THE BOLTS SECURING MANIFOLD TO CYLINDER HEAD ARE BROKEN! GM IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, DOES NOT WANT TO RECALL THE ISSUE OR WARRANTY THE REPAIRS. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS OF GM VEHICLES WITH V8 ENGINES INCLUDING THE 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L ENGINES. THIS IS A PROBLEM IN MANY OF WAYS, MOST IMPORTANTLY THAT TOXIC EXHAUST FUMES ARE EMITTING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND CAN ENTER THE CAB OF THE VEHICLES! INSPECTION LAWS REQUIRE THAT EXHAUST FUMES EXIT THE VEHICLE BEHIND THE REAR WHEEL! THE OTHER PROBLEMS INCLUDE THE FACT THAT THIS LEAK WILL AFFECT READINGS TAKEN FROM THE UPSTREAM OXYGEN SENSORS AND CAN THEREFORE CAUSE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS FOR CATALYTIC CONVERTER DEFICIENCIES TO SYSTEM LEAN CONDITIONS. ALSO HAVING AN EXHAUST LEAK WILL FAIL SAFETY INSPECTIONS AND EMISSIONS TESTING. GM IS VIOLATING EPA LAWS BY ALLOWING THIS TO GO ON! THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE IS PAST DUE FOR INSPECTION AND EMISSIONS AS WE ARE A PENNSYLVANIA RESIDENT AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE THIS FIXED AT A DEALER! *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAB FILLED UP WITH SMOKE. IT SMELLED LIKE BURNING RUBBER. I HAD TO EVACUATE MY YOUNGEST SON AND FOUND THAT THE WIRES ON THE BLOWER/RESISTOR WHERE ON FIRE. THERE SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS AND I AM SURPRISED THAT NOBODY HAD BEEN KILLED SO FAR. LOOKS LIKE THE RECALL WAS DONE IN CANADA? THE FRONT END INTERMITTENTLY BEGINS TO "SHIMMY" AT ABOUT 50MPH. I HAVE REPLACED TIRES, INNER AND OUTER TIE RODS, AND BRAKES CALIPERS BUT THE PROBLEMS HAVE NOT RESOLVED. THE VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS HAD PROBLEMS WITH A "CLUNKING" FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. SEVERAL OWNERS REPORT THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
BRAKE LINES RUSTED THROUGH. 2005 SILVERADO 2500HD. SIX AND A HALF YEARS OLD 147036 MILES MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING. I ALWAYS WASHED THE TRUCK AND THE FRAME ETC. AFTER DRIVING IT ON SALTED ROADS SO THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE RUSTED. THE PROBLEM IS IT APPEARS THESE ARE BARE STEEL LINES WITH NO APPARENT COATING ON THEM TO KEEP THEM FROM RUSTING. AS EVERYONE KNOWS ANY BARE STEEL WILL RUST EXTENSIVELY WHEN NOT COATED WITH A PAINT OR SOME FORM OF CORROSION PROTECTION. IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN THE BRAKE LINES WERE NOT TREATED I WOULD HAVE SPRAYED UNDERCOAT OR SOMETHING ON THEM TO KEEP THEM FROM RUSTING. THE GM DEALER THAT HAS DONE ALL MY MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS NEVER LEFT ME KNOW THEY WERE RUSTING WHILE IT WAS UNDER THE 100,000 EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD. I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS FOR ASSISTANCE AND THEY REFUSED TO PAY FOR MY BRAKE LINES, THIS IS A SAFETY ITEM AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON ALL TRUCKS NO MATTER HOW NEW OR NOMATTER HOW OLD THAT HAS THESE CHEAP STEEL LINES ON THEM. I TOOK A 700 MILE ROUND TRIP AND I DIDN'T KNOW MY BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING UNTIL I GOT HOME AND SAW THE FLUID RUNNING DOWN THE FRAME ONTO THE DRIVEWAY. WHEN I PUSHED ON THE BRAKES THE BRAKE FLUID GUSHED OUT REAL BAD. MY RESERVOIR WAS HALF EMPTY AND NO WARNING LIGHT CAME ON TO LET ME KNOW THERE WAS A PROBLEM. I WAS TOWING A SNOWMOBILE TRAILER AND WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY I DIDNOT HAVE A SITUATION WHERE I HAD TO BRAKE HARD. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AND RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR
2005 CHEVY SILVERADO CK1500. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DISABLING THE SWITCH FOR THE DRIVERS' AIRBAG OR IF SHE CAN OBTAIN A WAIVER SO THAT THE DEALERSHIP CAN DISABLE THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED SHE HAS TO HAVE THE SEAT UP ALL THE WAY, IN ORDER TO REACH THE PEDALS; PARTICULARLY THE CLUTCH. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE IS NO WAY SHE CAN BACK FURTHER THAN THE RECOMMENDED 10 INCHES FROM THE STEERING WHEEL, DUE TO HER HEIGHT. *JB
REAR BRAKE LINE APPEARED RUSTY AND SCALY, THEN WHEN HIT MY BRAKES, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I USED EMERGENCY BRAKE. I REPLACED REAR BRAKE LINE. ALL OTHER LINES APPEARED RUSTY AND SCALY. NOW, MY FRONT LEFT BRAKE LINE IS BEGINNING TO WEEP; IT'S MOIST AND IT GLISTENS WITH OIL. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE IT SOON. ALL THE OTHER LINES IN THE TRUCK APPEAR TO BE THE SAME, RUSTY AND SCALY. I WILL NO DOUBT HAVE TO CONTINUE TO REPLACE EACH LINE. *TR
EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BREAKING LEAVING STUDS IN THE HEADS, HEATING UP ENGINE COMPARTMENTS, RELEASES CARBON MONOXIDE, AFFECTS O2 SENSOR AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER. WILL NOT PASS EMISSIONS IN SOME STATES. GM NOT STANDING BEHIND THIS 1999-2008 ISSUE. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IS EXPENSIVE TO FIX. GM MECHANICS DENYING ANY SUCH ISSUES. PLEASE CHECK- IN TO THIS. I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SAFETY AIRBAGS BEING NON OPERATIONAL IN MY TRUCK FOR A WHILE NOW..DEALERSHIP IS WANTING TO CHARGE IN EXCESS OF $300 FOR THE REPAIR. I HAVE BEEN READING ON MULTIPLE FORUMS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVROLET SUV/TRUCKS MODEL YEAR 2003-2011. DUE TO THE FRONT IMPACT SENSORS GOING OUT ON THE VEHICLE AND YET CHEVROLET/GM HAS NOT DONE A SAFETY RECALL ON THESE. I WAS TOLD BY A DEALER THAT IF ONE OF THESE SENSORS GOES OUT THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WILL NOT DEPLOY IS IN A CRASH. *TR
EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BREAKING OFF IN TO THE HEAD THIS IS CAUSING EXHAUST LEAKS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, NOISE, CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE ENGINE AND CAB AREAS, ADDED HEAT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, AND WILL NOT MEET THE EMISSION STANDARDS OF SOME STATES. NOTICED MY BRAKE LINES COMING OUT OF THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER ARE RUSTING ! THESE LINES ARE NOT NEAR THE ROAD [ CHEMICALS/ ROAD SALTS ] BUT ARE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. MY TRUCK IS LOCATED AND DRIVEN IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IN A WARM LOCATION [ NOT IN THE MOUNTAINS AND WINTER COLD]. I WILL HAVE TO CHECK THE REST OF THE LINES AND DO SOMETHING BEFORE THEY RUST THRU AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPEND, MY EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLT BREAKS. *TR
THE BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED TOUGH I HAD THE BRAKE LINE TO THE REAR REPAIRED BUT WAS TOLD ALL THE BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED SEVERELY! *TR
WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY I NOTICED MY SPEEDOMETER GIVING ERRONEOUS READINGS AS HIGH AS 120 MPH, AND UPON STOPPING, THE SPEEDOMETER STAYED AT THE 35 MPH. POSITION. AFTER A FEW DAYS, IT RETURNED TO NORMAL. OCCASIONALLY, THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK FOR DAYS AT A TIME. I FEEL IT IS DANGEROUS DRIVING WITH A SPEEDOMETER WHICH IS NOT RELIABLE. GM HAS REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME I AM FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL PARTS AND LABOR COSTS BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. NOW, THE VOLT-METER ALSO DOES NOT WORK AND THE NEEDLE POINTS DOWN AT A "6 O CLOCK" POSITION WHICH IS OFF THE CHART. THIS HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR SEVERAL WEEKS NOW. *TR
PURCHASED NEW IN 2005. WITH LOW MILEAGE AND AT 7 YEARS OLD, CLANKING SOUNDS FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE STARTED. FELT SOMEWHAT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. DEALER REPLACED AND WROTE THE "INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT TO BE BINDING." COST, $300.00. TRUCK NOT USED OFF-ROAD AND HALF THE MILES ARE TOWING A 5TH WHEEL TRAILER. DON'T KNOW IF THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT, BUT DOUBTFUL. I READ MANY OTHERS VIA THE NHTSA SHOW THIS PROBLEM TOO, YET NO RECALL ! SEEMS A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME. CURRENTLY, I'M EXPERIENCING THIS AGAIN AS OF 041114 @ 51,000 MILES @ 9 YEARS OLD. WILL BE TAKING VEHICLE TO DEALER - AGAIN. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD READ INACCURATELY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATELY FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 57,000.
WHEN BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP THE ABS ACTIVATES ON ALL SURFACES AND DURING REGULAR BRAKING. IT SHOWED A CODE OF RIGHT ABS SENSOR AND REAR SPEED SENSOR.,HOWEVER AFTER REPLACEMENT OF RIGHT SENSOR ALL CODES SHOWED CLEAR. BUT THE PROBLEM STILL PERSIST. YOU THINK THE TRUCK STOPS THEN IT LEAPS FORWARD ABOUT TWO FEET. NOT SAFE!! *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE GEAR INDICATOR WAS EXTREMELY DIM AND WAS DIFFICULT TO SEE WHICH GEAR THE VEHICLE WAS IN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WOULD HAVE TO BE REPROGRAMMED.THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V055000 (POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:SHIFT PATTERN INDICATOR) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER WAS THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
FUEL EVAP SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONING NOT ALLOWING FUEL SYSTEM TO VENT THUS MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE. THIS ALSO RESULTS IN A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO OCCUR. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND A BULLETIN ON THIS PROBLEM: DTC P0446 (RESTRICTED/BLOCKED EVAP VENT PATH) SET, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON (REPLACE EVAPORATIVE EMISSION (EVAP) VENT VALVE SOLENOID ASSEMBLY AND ADD/RELOCATE FILTER BOX USING SERVICE KIT). THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON AND RECURRING ISSUE AND THE REPAIR IS TO NOT ONLY REPLACE THE PART, BUT CHANGE THE EXISTING DESIGN OF THE SYSTEM. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL WHERE THE MANUFACTURER FIXES THE PROBLEM SINCE IT IS OBVIOUSLY AN ENGINEERING PROBLEM? I HAVE READ MANY BLOGS THAT INCLUDE ALMOST NEW VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER GIVES FALSE READINGS. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN TRAVELING AT APPROX. 30MPH, IT WILL READ 95MPH. AT OTHER TIMES, IT WILL "BOTTOM OUT" GOING PAST 120MPH, WHEN ACTUAL SPEED IS NOWHERE NEAR THAT. WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT, OR EVEN WITH ENGINE TURNED OFF, IT WILL NOT RETURN TO THE ZERO MARK. ALL OTHER GAUGES IN THE CLUSTER APPEAR TO PERFORM NORMALLY. *TR

MY TRUCK HAS JUST OVER 72,000 MILES ON IT AND IS LESS THAN 7 YEARS OLD, BUT MISSES THE VIN RECALL BY 9570. THIS SPEEDOMETER PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE A POPULAR COMPLAINT FROM WHAT I SEE ON THE INTERNET. SHOULDN'T THIS RECALL BE EXTENDED TO HIGHER VIN NUMBERS WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM??? *TR
WE WERE TRAVELING DOWN INTERSTATE 10 IN MOBILE, AL. IT WAS A FOGGY NIGHT AND THE THE ROAD WAS DAMP. THE TRUCK SPUN SIDEWAYS AND REGAINED TRACTION HEADING HEAD ON INTO A CONCRETE BARRIER. IT HIT THE SOLID CONCRETE BARRIER HEAD ON AT 55 MILES PER HOUR. THE BUMPER AND FRAME OF THE TRUCK WAS CRUSHED. THE CONCRETE BARRIER WAS NOT BROKEN. THE AIRBAGS ON THE TRUCK DID NOT DEPLOY. BOTH THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEATS HIT THEIR HEADS ON THE DASH BOARD AND WERE RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SHOULD HAVE PREVENTED THESE HOSPITALIZATIONS. THIS CASE IS VERY CUT AND DRY. THE TRUCK DID NOT MISS ANY SENSORS. DUE TO THE FACT THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY ONSTAR WAS NOT CALLED. *KB
I WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE ON THE INTERSTATE. THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWED 70 MPH; HOWEVER, EVERYONE WAS PASSING ME. I PULLED OVER TO INVESTIGATE BUT THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT GO LOWER THAN 30 AT A COMPLETE STOP. IT DID GO BACK TO 0 WITHIN A FEW A DAYS; HOWEVER, IT IS AGAIN SHOWING 20 MPH AT A DEAD STOP. DEALERS/MECHANICS HAVE GIVEN ME THREE DIFFERENT STORIES AS TO HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. PER A LOT OF OTHER SIMILAR REPORTS, THIS APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT WITH THE VEHICLE AND SHOULD NOT BE AT MY EXPENSE. ALL BRAKE LINES UNDER DRIVERS DOOR SEVERELY RUSTED. THE LINE GOING TO THE REAR RUPTURED ABOVE THE FUEL TANK CAUSING FAILURE OF BRAKE SYSTEM. *TR
THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS TO THE CYLINDER HEADS ARE BRAKING OFF FOR NO REASON CAUSING AN EXHAUST LEAK. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER IS STUCK AT 49 MPH AND WILL NOT MOVE UP OR DOWN. G.M. HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SPEEDOMETERS FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS IN THE MID 2000'S AND HAS REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER PANELS ON MANY VEHICLES UNDER WARRANTY. THE CUT-OFF IS MILEAGE AND NOT THE YEAR OF THE VEHICLE. 85,000 IS THE CUT-OFF AND MY 2005 SILVERADO 2500 IS AT 37,076 DECEMBER 13, 2011. THIS IS A SECOND VEHICLE AND MY WIFE HAS A 2005 ESCALADE THAT HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SPEEDOMETER AND THE LOCAL CADILLAC DEALER REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY SINCE IT WAS BELOW THE THRESHOLD OF 85,000 MILES AT THE TIME. I TALKED TO CHRIS AT G.M. AT (866) 790-5700 X 40683 AND SHE GAVE ME A TRACKING NUMBER OF 71-1011262550. CHRIS CALLED ME BACK AFTER CONTACT WITH THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP (CHAMPION CHEVROLET) AND SAID THAT SHE WOULD NOT WARRANTY THE SPEEDOMETER. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THAT HE WOULD REPLACE THE CLUSTER BUT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $175.00 LABOR TO INSTALL IT. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2005 AND WOULD HAVE BOUGHT SOMETHING ELSE IF I HAD KNOWN OF THE DEFECTS IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE A THIRD C.D. RADIO WHICH I PAID FOR THE LABOR TO INSTALL WHICH I FEEL IS THE MANUFACTURERS PROBLEM ALSO. THE PROBLEM ADDRESSED IN YOUR NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE05020 FOR EARLIER MODEL YEARS OF THE SAME TRUCK ARE OCCURRING IN MY 2005 TRUCK. THIS HAS LED TO NEAR REAR-END COLLISIONS. THE BRAKES GO INTO AN "ANTI-LOCK" CONDITION AT SLOW SPEEDS WHILE BRAKING, NO MATTER WHAT THE WEATHER OR ROAD CONDITIONS ARE. YOU SHOULD EXTEND THE MODEL YEARS COVERED IN YOUR EARLIER RECALL TO INCLUDE ALL THRU 2005 MODELS AND PERHAPS BEYOND OR ISSUE A NEW RECALL BASED ON THIS AND SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM CONSUMERS. WHEN TRYING TO TURN AT AN INTERSECTION, THE BRAKES ON MY 2500HD WITH DURAMAX DIESEL APPLIED WITHOUT DRIVER USING THE PEDAL. THIS HAPPENED AT EVERY TURN WHILE TRYING TO GET TO THE REPAIR SHOP. THE SHOP REPLACED THE FACTORY SEALED HYDRAULIC BOOSTER ASSEMBLY. AFTER 1500 MILES THE PROBLEM HAS NOT RECURRED. WE HAVE CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS, BUT SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL, THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO. THIS SAME CONDITION HAPPENED AT 30000 MILES, BUT CLEARED UP AND NO DEALER COULD FIND A DEFECT CODE AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HOPEFULLY, THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN AT HIGH SPEED. *TR
TOOK TRUCK IN FOR CHECK UP SAID STEERING WORN AND LEAKING BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT WAS REPLACED WITH CHEVY PARTS AT CHEVY DEALER IT IS NOW 8-22-12 NOW TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT CHECK BEFORE VACATION AND THEIR SAYING THE STEERING BOX LEAKING MILEAGE NOW IS 37,778 I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE TROUBLE WITH THIS PART IT IS ALSO VERY EXPENSIVE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.

I HAVE 136,571 MILES ON VEHICLE. MY SPEEDOMETER HAS STOPPED WORKING. I SEE THAT THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEMS ON FORUMS. THERE IS A RECALL ON SOME GMC VEHICLES, BUT ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE NOT MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS..WHY! I THINK THE RECALL NEED TO BE EXPANDED. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED 16 TSBS ON THE STEERING, THREE RECALLS ON THE STEERING, AND 27 TSBS ON THE SUSPENSION. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

UPON STARTING THE TRUCK, EVERYTHING WAS FINE. I LET IDLE FOR ABOUT 2 TO 3 MINUTES TO WARM UP. AFTER IT WAS WARMED UP, I LOOKED DOWN ONTO THE DASH AND NOTICED THE WARNING TEXT "SERVICE AIR BAG". ALSO THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH WAS ILLUMINATED, TO THIS DATE I HAVE YET TO FIX THE ISSUE. AFTER RESEARCH ONLINE, IT SEEMS THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT THE FUNCTION OF THE TRUCK HOWEVER IF I DO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. I GUESS I AM WILLING TO TAKE THAT RISK AS A TRIP TO THE DEALER TO FIX THE AIR BAG ISSUE WILL RESULT IN A BILL OF OVER $200. *TR
