BRAKE LINE BURST DUE TO CORROSION CAUSING LOSS OF REAR BRAKES. I HAVE SINCE HAD THREE MORE BRAKE LINES (COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LINES) START TO LEAK DUE TO CORROSION CAUSING LOSS OF REAR BRAKES AGAIN AND THEN FRONT BRAKES. THE BRAKE LINES ARE SEVERELY CORRODED WHICH IS UNUSUAL ON A VEHICLE WITH LOW MILEAGE AND LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR POSITION INDICATOR LIGHTING FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, HE NOTICED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. HE PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THAT WIRES ON TOP OF THE GAS TANK WERE THE SOURCE OF THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE CONTACT HAD PLANS TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
TRUCK HAS AN EXHAUST LEAK AT MANIFOLDS. 4 BOLTS HAVE BROKEN OFF OF THE MANIFOLD. MY MECHANIC SAID THIS IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS TRUCK AND COULD COST UP TO AND OVER $1,000.00 TO FIX. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON SO UNLESS I FIX IT I CAN'T GO TO STATE INSPECTION. ALSO THE BRAKE LINES ARE CORRODED AND ALSO NEED TO BE REPLACED. THESE ARE ALL DEFECTS NOT MAINTENANCE ISSUES. STEP MOTOR ON SPEEDOMETER READING 20 MPH HIGH. INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. CHEVROLET IS AWARE BUT ONLY COVERS VEHICLES WITH LESS THAN 80000 MILES VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
WHILE AT A STOP WITH FOOT ON BRAKES, THE PEDAL SUDDENLY DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. A CHECK REVEALED THAT THE RIGID BRAKE LINE FROM THE EHCU TO THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WHEEL HAD FAILED DUE TO CORROSION. *TR
I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON I-95 ON THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE AND SLOWED DUE TO TRAFFIC AND BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. I PUMPED THEM SEVERAL TIMES AND PUT ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND LUCKILY STOPPED BEFORE HITTING ANYONE. I HAD MY WHOLE FAMILY IN THE CAR, WIFE, 4 KIDS AS WE WERE HEADING TO MARYLAND FROM CONNECTICUT TO VISIT FAMILY FOR CHRISTMAS. I PULLED OVER AND WAS ABLE TO STOP AGAIN BUT THE BRAKES NEVER FELT QUITE RIGHT AGAIN. I HAD WARNING LIST COME ON SEVERAL TIMES AND HAD TO KEEP ADDING BRAKE FLUID. WHEN I INSPECTED THE LEAK IT WAS UNDER THE DRIVERS DOOR RIGHT WHERE THE LINES SIT IN THEIR PLASTIC HANGER. I ALSO NOTICED ALL THE OTHER LINES WERE SHOT AS WELL (AS IN RUSTED). THIS IS MY FAMILY CAR AS I USE IT FOR WORK AND EVERY TIME WE GO OUT AS A FAMILY AS WELL AS DRIVE KIDS TO SCHOOL ETC..... I AM AMAZED AT THE CORROSION LEVEL AND AM CURRENTLY ATTEMPTING TO REPLACE THE LINE THAT IS LEAKING, BUT JUST A SMALL PORTION OF IT. AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS VEHICLE AND BRAKE LINE CORROSION, I HOPE YOU DO SOMETHING! AS THANK GOODNESS I AM A CAREFUL AND CONSCIENTIOUS DRIVER BECAUSE IF I WAS GOING ANY FASTER (FASTER THAN 35 MPH ON A 65 MPH HIGHWAY) I WOULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. SUFFICE TO SAY WE HAD TO USE RELATIVES CARS TO TRAVEL AND THEN CAREFULLY PLAN THE TRIP HOME WITH LOTS OF BRAKE FLUID AND CONSTANT STOPPING TO AVOID HOLIDAY SEASON TRAFFIC. NOT A GOOD SCENARIO! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WITH THE HEATER ACTIVATED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE AIR VENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE CONTACT INSPECTED UNDER THE DASHBOARD AND OBSERVED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED. THERE WERE NO FLAMES VISIBLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I WAS NOTIFIED OF NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 12T-019 FOR A RECALL ON MY BF GOODRICH TIRES. I WENT TO MY LOCAL DEALER MCCARTHY TIRES LOCATED AT 119 LINDEN ST IN SCRANTON PA. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TOLD ME I HAD TO OF BOUGHT THE TIRES AT MCCARTHY TIRE FOR THEM TO DO THE RECALL REPLACEMENT. AFTER I INSISTED THAT THEY ARE AN AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE TIRES AND HAD TO ORDER THEM AND WOULD CALL ME WHEN THEY CAME IN. I WAITED A WEEK AND A HALF AND CALLED MCCARTHY TIRE. WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT THE ORDER THEY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY TIRES IN MY SIZE ON ORDER AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT I AS TALKING ABOUT. IT APPEARS THEY REFUSE TO PERFORM THE SERVICE RECALL WORK IF I DIDN'T BUY THE TIRES FROM THEM. *TR
THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT WENT ON. THE ONLY WAY TO FILL THE SYSTEM IS TO OPEN THE RESERVOIR CAP. UNFORTUNATELY BECAUSE THE ENGINE HAD A HEAD GASKET FAILURE THE COOLING SYSTEM WOULD NOT DEPRESSURIZE, EVEN WHEN COLD. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THERE SHOULD BE A PRESSURE CAP THAT WHEN THE ENGINE OVERHEATS IT ALLOWS THE COOLING SYSTEM TO DEPRESSURIZE. THIS CLOSED SYSTEM IS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WHEN SOMEONE WHO IS USED TO FILLING THE OVERFLOW TANK WHEN THE COOLANT IS LOW. BECAUSE THE LACK OF AN OVER FLOW TANK ANYONE THAT OPENS THE PLASTIC RESERVOIR COULD BECAME BURNED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT NORMAL SPEEDS AND I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AND NEVER HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. ALL THE SUDDEN I GET A MESSAGE THAT SAYS "SERVICE AIR BAG". I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AND THEY SAID THAT THE TRUCK NEEDS A NEW FRONT DRIVERS SIDE IMPACT SENSOR THAT WENT BAD. THIS TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAGS HAVE NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED. THEY TOLD ME THAT IF THIS REPAIR DOES NOT GET DONE, IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT THE AIRBAGS WOULDN'T DEPLOY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD EQUIPPED WITH BF GOODRIDGE TIRES COMMERCIAL TA, SIZE LT245-75-R16, DOT BF11JB11. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65MPH HAULING A TRAILER, THE VEHICLE PASSENGER REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED. THE VEHICLE RIGHT REAR BED WAS DAMAGED. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 192,000.
THE BRAKE LINES ,FUEL LINES AND THE FRAME CROSSMEMBERS ARE ALL SEVERELY RUSTED. IT JUST IS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE I LOOSE MY BRAKES, GO UP IN FLAMES OR DROP MY GAS TANK ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THE BODY ON THIS TRUCK IS NOT TOO BAD. IT HAS 92,000 MILES ON IT, AND IT IS CLEANED QUITE OFTEN. THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS RUSTED VERY BADLY. I EXPECTED MORE FROM SOMETHING THAT COSTS SO MUCH. CANT AFFORD A NEW ONE AND IF I COULD IT WOULDN'T BE A GM. HAVE ALWAYS OWNED GM IN THE PAST. *TR
STARTED TRUCK PLACED FOOT ON BRAKE AND PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. BRAKE FLUID LEAKED ALL OVER THE GROUND. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP. BRAKE LINE WERE TOTALLY RUSTED THROUGH. I DRIVE THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY ONCE A WEEK. IT ONLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 9700 MILES ON IT. I AM THE ONLY OWNER. THE UNDER CARRIAGE IS ALSO RUSTED. LUCKILY IT HAPPEN IN MY DRIVEWAY RATHER THAN ON THE ROAD. CAN PROVIDE A RECEIPT FOR ALL NEW BRAKELINES INSTALLED IF NEEDED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, HE HEARD A NOISE UNDER THE DASH BOARD AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE CENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY STATED THAT HE NEEDED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN TO GET IT REPAIRED AT HIS EXPENSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,500.
AIR BAG LIGHT HAS COME ON DUE TO A FAULTY IMPACT SENSOR, A PART WHICH WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $200 TO REPLACE. EVEN THOUGH I WOULD CONSIDER THIS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, I CANNOT AFFORD REPAIRS. *TR
SEVERELY RUSTED BRAKE LINES THROUGHOUT. LINE RUPTURED WHILE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE BUT FOR A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE TO LOOK LIKE IT DOES UNDERNEATH IS DESPICABLE. I'VE LIVED IN NEW ENGLAND ALL OF MY LIFE AND HAVE OWNED AND WORKED ON SEVERAL OLDER VEHICLES THAN MY CURRENT TRUCK AND HAVE NEVER SEEN CORROSION THIS BAD UNDERNEATH. REPLACING ALL LINES WITH STAINLESS STEEL IMMEDIATELY. HOW THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN SOONER IS DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE. *TR
I OWN A 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500. I BOUGHT IT NEW AND IT CURRENTLY HAS 37,247 MILES ON IT. THE BRAKE LINES HAVE SEVERE CORROSION. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM POSSIBLY DUE TO INFERIOR PARTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR BRAKE LINES NEAR THE FUEL TAKE WERE COMPLETELY COVERED WITH RUST CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE ALL OF THE BRAKE FLUID. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR WHEN THE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED. THE CONTACT HAD TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO A LOWER GEAR AND USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE BRAKE LINES RUSTED THROUGH IN THE REAR. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
THIS VEHICLE IS A DURAMAX 2500 (DIESEL), THE FIRST THING THAT HAPPENED WAS THE ENGINE HOURS RESET ITSELF TO ZERO THE DEALER SAID IT NEEDED A NEW INSTRUMENT CLUSTER THEN THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR QUIT WORKING SO YOU HAVE TO COUNT EACH TIME YOU MOVE IT TO KNOW WHAT GEAR YOU ARE IN I FEEL THIS PRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE HAVING REGULAR MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED. THE BRAKE LINES WERE NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
NOTICED FUEL SMELL AFTER EXITING VEHICLE. LOOKED UNDER VEHICLE TO SEE FUEL DRIPPING ON THE GROUND DIRECTLY BELOW THE FUEL CELL. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE FUEL LINES WERE SEVERELY CORRODED OR RUSTED TO THE POINT OF FAILURE. ALSO NOTICED THE BRAKE LINES WERE ALSO SEVERELY RUSTED. GM HAS SACRIFICED SAFETY IN PLACE OF CHEAP PARTS AND MATERIALS. THIS IS A MAJOR DEFECT AND A SERIOUS MATTER THAT NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED. SOMEONE WILL DIE WITH THE BRAKE AND FUEL LINE FAILURES. *TR
BRAKE LINES RUSTED AND BURST FRONT AND REAR, PRESSED THE PEDAL TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR, LUCKILY WAS SETTING IN PARKING LOT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ALONG ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I SUDDENLY LOST POWER TO MAINTAIN SPEED. THE TRUCK WENT INTO WHAT IS COMMONLY CALLED "LIMP MODE", UNABLE TO MAKE ANY MORE THAN 10 MPH. I DISCOVERED THAT A PROBLEM COMMON TO THIS MAKE MODEL YEAR OCCURRED. THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE FUEL INJJECTOR (DIESEL) SHORTED TO INJECTOR #2 AND #7. THE COMPUTER SHUT DOWN THE FUEL TO THAT CYLINDER BANK AS A RESULT OF THE SHORT. THIS IS COMMONLY SPOKEN OF IN INTERNET BLOGS AND GM HAS A TSB FOR A REPAIR. IT IS TSB 05-06-04 047B (I BELIEVE). IT CALLS FOR REPLACING THE WIRING HARNESS AS IT HAS BECOME WORN DUE TO IMPROPER ENGINEERING AND PLACEMENT. THE PARTS HAVE BEEN UPDATED TO PREVENT THIS. IT COSTS $576.00 TO REPAIR. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD REQUIRE A RECALL. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO ME HAD THIS OCCURRED ON A HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEED. UNABLE TO MAINTAIN ANY SPEED, II COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT OR CAUSE ONE. *TR
SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ACTIVATED WITHOUT ANY REASON. *TR
PARKED TRUCK AT OUTSIDE STALL AND WENT INDOORS. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES I HEARD NOISES AND WENT OUTSIDE. FOUND THE WHOLE TRUCK WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED 6 MINUTES LATER THE FIRE SPREAD TO TWO ADDITIONAL VEHICLES. THE HEAT MELTED AND CONSUMED EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE FRAME. THE FIRE INVESTIGATOR SUSPECTS THE FIRE INITIATED DUE TO ELECTRICAL FAILURE AND GENERATED FROM EITHER THE DRIVER SIDE DASH BOARD OR LEFT SIDE OF ENGINE. THE DAMAGE WAS TOO DESTRUCTIVE TO PINPOINT EXACT CAUSE. *TR

THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT ABNORMALLY TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHO ADVISED THAT THE BRAKE LINES AND THE CALIPERS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,980. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,965. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
ATTEMPTED TO STOP AT STOP SIGN AND BAKE LINE BETWEEN MASTER CYLINDER AND PROP VALVE RUPTURED INSTANTLY DRAINING BRAKE FLUID RESULTING IN NO BRAKING. STOPPED VEHICLE WITH PARKING BRAKE. UPON INSPECTION, DETERMINED THAT BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED OUT AS A RESULT OF BEING MOUNTED ON TOP OF FRAME RAIL WHERE DIRT, SALT AND MOISTURE COLLECT FROM FRONT WHEEL SPRAY. *TR
STOPPED DO TO HEAVY TRAFFIC AND STARTED SMELLING EXHAUST IN CAB. PULLED OFF ON NEXT EXIST OPENED HOOD AND DRIVERS SIDE OF ENGINE WAS SMOKING. COUGHING AND LUNG DISCOMFORT. FOUND SOME SHADE TO LET TRUCK COOL. NOTICED BLACK COLOR ON REAR OF EXHAUST MANIFOLD, LOOKED CLOSER AND MISSING BOLT IN SAME AREA OF MANIFOLD. LOOKING ONLINE LOTS OF COMPLAINTS OF SAME PROBLEM BUT NO RECALLS. SHOULD BE EMISSIONS RECALL AND SAFETY RECALL IN MY CASE. *TR

LINKAGE FROM STEERING WHEEL TO TIE RODS FELL OFF. VEHICLE WAS IN A PARKING LOT. LINKAGE CAME APART WHICH DISENGAGED THE SAFTEY AIR BAG. COST TO TOW TO THE SHOP $75.00 TO REPLACE THE BOLT AND SPRING FOR THE LINKAGE AND SAFTEY AIR BAG THE REPAIR IS $735.00 STAY AWAY FROM GM PRODUCTS. IT IS A GOOD THING THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY OR THE RESULTS WOULD HAVE BEEN HORRIBLE! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATED 65 MPH WHEN AN INCOMING VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER BOTH SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE AMBULANCE WAS CALLED AND TRANSPORTED THE PASSENGER AND THE DRIVER TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM FOR TREATMENT. THE POLICE WERE NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS SENSORS WERE SENSITIVE AND WERE TOO WEAK TO DEPLOY. THE DEALER OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED A CLUNKING NOISE FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V018000 (STEERING:GEAR BOX:SHAFT SECTOR) THAT THE CONTACT BELIEVED WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON,AND I HAD IT CHECKED,WAS TOLD THE FRONT SENSOR WAS BAD. CALLED THE CHEVY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY ONLY HAVE TO BE REPLACED IF IN A CRASH. I'VE HAD WIRING PROBLEMS AND A RECALL ON THE BLOWER WIRING. I THINK CHEVROLET SHOULD HAVE TO CHECK INTO THE PROBLEM,BECAUSE ON THE INTERNET THERE ARE A NUMBER OF OWNERS WITH THE SAME AIRBAG PROBLEM. SOUNDS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME. CHEVROLET SAID FOR A PRICE THEY WILL CHECK IT. THEY MAKE IT SOUND LIKE IT'S THE OWNER'S FAULT, AND THE MORE MONEY THEY CAN GET THE BETTER. ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME WHILE I WAS TOWING MY BOAT. WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR; I NARROWLY AVOIDED A COLLISION. A RUSTED BRAKE LINE HAD RUPTURED. WHEN REPLACING THE BRAKE LINE I DISCOVERED THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES AND FUEL LINES WERE SEVERELY RUSTED. WE CONTACTED GM; THEY SET UP AN APPOINTMENT AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO EXAMINE THE TRUCK. THE DEALER AGREED THAT THE LINES AND MUCH OF THE CHASSIS WERE RUSTED BUT WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY I HAD COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER THAT THE UNDERCOATING ON THE FRAME WAS FALLING OFF, AND THERE WAS ACTUALLY RUST UNDER THE COATING. THEY SAID THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE ALL FOUR BRAKE ROTORS BECAUSE THEY WERE SO RUSTED THEY WERE FALLING APART. THE REAR ROTORS WENT AT ONLY 35000 MILES. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO K2500HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE DIESEL FUEL TRAIL PULSE DAMPER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THEY WOULD REPLACE THE FUEL TRAIL PULSE DAMPER AT A COST TO THE CONTACT. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

I WAS DRIVING WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT SOFT. I CONTINUED AND THE SERVICE BRAKES WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. AS I WAS LESS THAN 1 MILE FROM HOME I CONTINUED CAREFULLY. WHEN I GOT HOME I FOUND THE BRAKE RESERVOIR ALMOST EMPTY. I DISCOVERED THE BRAKE HARD LINE TO THE REAR BRAKES WAS CORRODED. THIS IS THE LINE THAT RUNS ABOVE THE GAS TANK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASED AND THE COOLANT FAN ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP AND THE THERMOSTAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE RESERVOIR AND THE LOWER WATER HOSE WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING COOLANT, WHICH WAS CAUSING THE HEADS TO CRACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAS BEEN ACTING ERRATIC SINCE MAY 2012. NOW THE SPEEDOMETER NO LONGER WORKS. THE DEALER FOUND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND VENT SOLENOID BAD IN JUNE 2014. COSTING ME NEARLY $800, WHICH I DO NOT HAVE. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 53,000 MILES ON IT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE GM SPEEDOMETER RECALL.
IN JUNE 2012 WHILE DRIVING THE SPEEDOMETER WENT BACK TO 0 WHEN GOING 65 MPH. SINCE THAT INCIDENT IT HAPPENS PERIODICALLY. ADDITIONALLY THE TACHOMETER DOESN'T REGISTER RPMS ACCURATELY FOR OVER TWO YEARS, ALSO SOMETIMES GOES TO 0. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A RECALL AND HAVE OWNED TRUCK SINCE 2006. THE SPEEDOMETER IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
