HEATER RESISTOR,AND WIRING CONNECTOR BOTH MELTED TO POINT THAT THEY HAD TO BE REPLACE. THIS IS ON GOING PROBLEM THAT COULD CAUSE AFIRE OR WORST. I TALK TO GM SERVICE PEOPLE AND COULD NOT GET ANSWER. I CHECK INTERNET FOR PART BECAUSE GM WANTED TO MUCH FOR THEIR. THAT WHEN I READ ABOUT ALOT MORE PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND GM WONT HELP FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT SMELLED SMOKE. SHE PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS SMOKING. IN ADDITION, THE HUB CAP MELTED AND FELL TO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 78,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY. THE CONTACT CRASHED THE VEHICLE INTO A DITCH. THE DEALER HAS NOT DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 54,000.
2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. SMELL FROM HEATER/A/C BLOWER. FIRST TOLD BLOWER MOTOR. UPON CLOSER EXAMINATION FOUND THAT BLOWER MOTOR WAS OK BUT RESISTOR AND WIRING HARNESS HAD MELTED/BURNED. DAMAGE WAS LOCAL TO HARNESS AND RESISTOR. DEALER WILL NOT COVER DAMAGE. SERVICE BULLETIN EXIST BUT WILL NOT HELP PAY. *TR
1) NORMAL USE OF HVAC IN AUTOMOBILE 2) APPROXIMATELY EVERY 15K MILES. ( OCCURRED @15K AND 32K) POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. MELTS PLUG/WIRING FOR BLOWER AND GETS EXTREMELY HOT . BURNING SMELL NOTICED. I WAS ABLE TO IDENTIFY PROBLEM AND TURN OFF THE BLOWER BEFORE FIRE STARTED ON BOTH OCCASIONS. 3) REPLACEMENT OF DAMAGED PLUG AND INSTALL CORRECT RESISTOR. IMPROPER RESISTOR VALUE INSTALLED AT PRODUCTION AND IS MIS-MATCHED WITH BLOWER MOTOR CAUSING REPEATED FAILURES UNTIL CORRECTED. *TR

WE HAVE A 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO AND THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING 3 MONTHS AGO, MILEAGE APPROX. 60,000 MILES. WE CONTACTED DEALER AND WAS TOLD WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL. NOW I GET ON LINE AND READ LOTS OF COMPLAINTS. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE WAY THE ECONOMY IS WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY OURSELVES TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, SO NOW WE DRIVE IT AND HOPE WE ARE GOING SPEED LIMIT OR UNDER. I THINK THAT GM SHOULD REPAIR THIS PROBLEM SINCE THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN TAKING OFF FROM BEING STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT I NOTICED MY TACHOMETER & SPEEDOMETER BOTH BOUNCING ERRATICALLY. TACHOMETER STILL STAYS IN BETWEEN 4 AND 5 THOUSAND EXCEPT WHEN ENGINE IS OFF. SPEEDOMETER IS ANY WHERE FROM 30 ABOVE TO 30 BELOW ACTUAL SPEED. I HAVE BEEN STOPPED TWICE FOR SPEEDING WHILE TRYING TO MAINTAIN A CONSTANT SPEED WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC SINCE GAUGES DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. ONE OF THE OFFICERS WHO STOPPED ME DID NOT WRITE A TICKET BECAUSE HE OWNS A SILVERADO AS WELL AND HIS SPEEDOMETER HAD BEEN OUT FOR OVER 2 MONTHS ALSO. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 80,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
SPEEDOMETER NO LONGER WORKS. BEGAN TO FAIL JUST AFTER IT REACHED 70,000 MILES AND GM WILL NOT FIX IT. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO. THE SPEEDOMETER IS DEFECTIVE AND THE CAUSE IS DUE TO A BAD STEPPER MOTOR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO THIRD GEAR AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS BLANK. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED. THE DEALER WAS WILLING TO REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FOR FREE, BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE THE CONTACT'S RESPONSIBILITY. THE CONTACT REFERENCED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER 10025462 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 74,000. HEARD A NOISE FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE FOLLOWED BY AN ABS WARNING INDICATION, DROVE TO NEAREST DEALER. FAILURE OF LEFT FRONT HUB BEARING, REPLACED PART NUMBER 15863441. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 CHEVY 2500HD 4X4 GAVE OUT AT ABOUT 27000 MILES TWO MONTHS AGO. WE WERE PULLING A TRAILER ON MOUNTAIN ROADS AT THE TIME. KNOWING YOUR SPEED IN THE MOUNTAINS IS IMPORTANT AND THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DEADLY PROBLEM. GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND I UNDERSTAND DID A "SPECIAL POLICY" ON 2003 AND 2004 VEHICLES. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AND THE DEFECTIVE PARTS FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. PLEASE HELP US OUT AND DO NOT LET THIS FAULTY EQUIPMENT GAME CONTINUE JUST TO MAKE OR SAVE GM MONEY AT BUYERS EXPENSE AND SAFETY. *TR
AT 26,000 MILES THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO STARTED TO SLOWLY DOWN. IS HAS HAPPENED 5X IN THE PAST 6 TRIPS. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE TWICE I WAS PULLING A TRAVEL TRAILER ON MOUNTAIN ROADS WHERE SPEED IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE. TOO MUCH SPEED AND OFF A CLIFF WE GO. A RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET SHOWS THIS IS AD HAS BEEN A MAJOR CHEVY ISSUE AND THEY NEED TO RECALL IT AND PAY PEOPLE BACK WHO HAVE HAD TO HAVE IT FIXED. *TR
ONE MORNING IT JUST DIDN'T WORK. NOW IT WORKS SOMETIMES. IT DOESN'T WORK WHEN THE TRUCK STARTS UP, THEN STARTS WORKING AFTER I STOP ABOUT 40 MILES DOWN THE ROAD. SOMETIMES WORKS, SOMETIMES IT SAYS IM DOING 120 MPH OR 0 MPH. IT HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN. I HAVE TO USE MY GPS SO I KNOW HOW FAST IM GOING. I THINK CHEVROLET SHOULD STEP UP AND CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL SO I HAVE TO PAY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I HAD TO REPLACE THE CANNISTOR EVAPORATION SOLENOID BECAUSE OF REPEATED CHECK ENGINE SENSOR. THIS COST ME $330. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS IS A RETROFIT PART THAT CHEVY HAS COME UP WITH WHICH TELLS ME THAT CHEVY IS FULLY AWARE OF THIS VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS TRUCK. I KNOW OF 4 OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME TRUCK AND THE SAME PROBLEM. I WANT CHEVY TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THIS REPAIR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN MAKING A NOISE WHEN TURNED TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE CONTACT LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND NOTICED FLUID LEAKING FROM THE STEERING HYDRAULIC GEAR BOX. THE DEALER INFORMED HIM OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS 05V455000 (STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST, HOSE, PIPING AND CONNECTIONS) AND 05V018000 (STEERING: GEAR BOX: SHAFT SECTOR); HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HAD ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. UPDATED 10/20/08. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT HEARD A SLIGHT RUBBING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE CENTER AND IT MADE A METAL ON METAL RUBBING SOUND WHEN A TURN WAS MADE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WAS LOOSE AND WOBBLING. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07E106000 (WHEEL CAP/COVER/HUB). THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $330. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
1. MY FATHER IN LAW HIT THE EXPOSED HEATING/COOLING FAN MOTOR WIRING WITH HIS FOOT WHEN ENTERING THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE WIRING OR HARNESS IS NOT COVERED TO PREVENT ENTANGLEMENT OR OTHER OBJECTS FROM CONTACTING THE WIRING. THIS DISLODGED THE WIRING IN THE CONNECTOR TO THE FAN MOTOR RESISTOR. 2. A CONSEQUENCE IS THE WIRING SHORTED IN THE CONNECTOR AND THE FUSE DID NOT FAIL. THE CONNECTOR OVERHEATED AND MELTED TOGETHER. THE FAN MOTOR WAS SHUT DOWN AT THE SIGN OF SMOKE ( BOTH VISUAL AND BY SMELL). FAN MOTOR WOULD NOT OPERATE FROM THIS POINT FORWARD. 3. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS AMAZED THAT THEY STOCKED THIS PARTICULAR HARNESS PN 15862656 AS A REPLACEMENT KIT COMPLETE WITH THE SPLICE CONNECTORS ($95.00). I ALSO PURCHASED THE RESISTOR (PN 89019088, COST $54.97), WHICH ALTHOUGH PROBABLY FUNCTIONED WAS MELTED TO THE HARNESS OF THE CONNECTOR RENDERING IT USELESS. I INSTALLED THE KIT AND REROUTED THE WIRING TO ELIMINATE CONTACT BY A PASSENGERS FOOT OR A TOOL BUCKET. *TR
2005 CHEVY 1500 SILVERADO - HEATER BLOWS HOT AIR ON DRIVERS SIDE, COLD ON PASSENGER SIDE - HAPPENS WITHOUT NOTICE - HAVE SPENT AROUND $300.00 (+) DOLLARS TRYING TO FIX THIS. WAS TOLD BY GM SERVICE TECH IT WAS THE HEATER MOTOR RESISTOR WIRING HARNESS, IT BURNS OUT THE RESISTOR. I REPLACED BOTH, THE RESISTOR BURNED OUT AGAIN AND THE WIRING HARNESS WAS FRIED AGAIN. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF THESE REPORTS - A RECALL IS NEEDED - THIS CONDITION IS NOT SAFE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING TO BACK HIS VEHICLE INTO THE DRIVEWAY, HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS POINTING TO THE LEFT. THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS POINTED FORWARD IN THE DESIRED POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TIE ROD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCES BEFOREHAND. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 63,900.
BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT COME ON WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED ALL BULBS AND FUSES ARE CHECKED TO BE OK RECALL ON SIMILAR CHEVY TRUCKS NEAR CRASH TWICE WHEN THE PERSON COULD NOT TELL I WAS STOPPING. *TR
I PURCHASED A NEW 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WORKTRUCK IN APRIL OF 2005. APPROXIMATELY 6 WEEKS AGO THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED SHOWING INTERMITTENT SPEEDS NOT CONSISTENT WITH ACTUAL SPEED. SOMETIMES IT WOULD SHOW ZERO MPH WHEN TRAVELING AT STREET OR FREEWAY SPEEDS, SOMETIMES SHOWING LESS THAN OR GREATER THAN PERCEIVED ACTUAL SPEEDS, AND CURRENTLY FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS HAS STAYED AT ZERO REGARDLESS OF ANY MOVING SPEED. THE TRUCK HAS 38,000 MILES AS SHOWN BY THE ODOMETER. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED/SEEN ANY PROBLEMS WITH ANY OTHER INSTRUMENTS AS YET. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER IN MY 2005 SILVERADO ACTS ERRATICALLY. READS INCORRECT SPEED. WILL STOP ON 80MPH WHEN VEHICLE IS STANDING STILL. I CAN NO LONGER RELY ON THE SPEEDOMETER TO ACCURATELY DISPLAY CURRENT SPEED. FROM ONLINE RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM, SINCE 2003. MY TRUCK HAS APPROXIMATELY 66,000 MILES ON IT CURRENTLY. THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED AT AROUND 60,000 MILES. IT CREATES AN UNSAFE CONDITION, SINCE I CAN NOT DETERMINE THE CORRECT VEHICLE SPEED. *TR
HEARD CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN MAKING TURNS. SOUND WAS ONLY OCCASIONAL AT FIRST THEN BECAME LOUDER AND MORE PREVALENT OVER TIME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT HUB BEARING WAS FAULTY AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THIS IS A SEALED BEARING THAT CAN NOT BE LUBRICATED DURING ROUTINE SERVICE INTERVALS PER THE SERVICE ADVISER. TOTAL FAILURE OF THIS BEARING COULD CAUSE THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL TO LOCK UP WHILE DRIVING AND/OR GENERATE A GREAT AMOUNT OF HEAT CAUSING A TIRE BLOWOUT OR FIRE. THE BEARING WAS REPLACED BY THE CHEVROLET DEALER AT A COST OF $631.00. OLD PARTS WERE NOT MADE AVAILABLE TO ME. THE VEHICLE DRIVES FINE NOW AND THERE IS NO NOISE. THE VEHICLE IS A 2005 CHEVROLET TRUCK/ SILVERADO 2500/PU WITH FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE AND DIESEL ENGINE. THE VEHICLE HAD 54,370 MILES ON IT. *TR
THE HEADLAMPS , EXTERIOR LAMPS , ALL LIGHTS ON DASH , WINDOW AND DOOR LOCK SWITCHES , RADIO , A/C SWITCHES AND GAUGES FLICKER. THE GAUGES , IE.. FUEL , WATER TEMP , TACH , VOLTAGE METER AND OIL PRESSURE GAUGE FLUCTUATE. IM AFRAID THEY WILL PERMANENTLY GO OUT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. I'VE TRIED DIMMING THE HEADLAMPS , ADJUSTING THE RHEOSTAT AND OTHER THINGS WITH NO CHANGE. MY TRUCK IS NOW PAST WARRANTY ON THE MILEAGE. I NOTICED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON MY INSURANCE WEBSITE. THE BULLETIN IS 1001986 . ACCORDING TO THIS SERVICE BULLETIN GM HAS BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR QUITE SOME TIME AS THE BULLETIN WAS SENT JAN. 2001 AND STILL HAS 2005 MODELS [WHAT I HAVE] INCLUDED IN THAT BULLETIN. I WENT TO MY DEALER AND REQUESTED INFO ON THE SPECIFIC BULLETIN SO THAT I COULD MAKE REPAIRS AND WAS FIRST TOLD BY THE SERV. WRITER THAT SHE DID NOT HAVE ACCESS TO SERV. BULLETINS. I TOLD HER THAT I HAD BEEN A SERVICE MANAGER FOR A TOYOTA DEALER AND KNEW THAT IF SHE WAS A SERVICE WRITER THEN SHE DID INDEED HAVE ACCESS TO BULLETINS SHE ADMITTED SHE DID . I THEN ASKED AGAIN FOR A COPY OF THE BULLETIN AND SHE THEN SAID SHE WASN'T AUTHORIZED TO GIVE THAT INFO. I PAID ALMOST 40K FOR THIS TRUCK AND THAT'S THE SERVICE YOU GET FROM GM. IT SEEMS THAT IF SO MANY VEHICLES HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AT LEAST 6 CONSECUTIVE YEARS YOU GUYS SHOULD INVESTIGATE AND MANDATE A RECALL AS YOUR DRIVING LAMPS ARE A VITAL PART OF THE SAFETY WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN TURNING MY A/C, DEFROSTER, OR HEATER ON BETWEEN SETTING 3, 4, AND 5 A CLICKING NOISE WOULD OCCUR. THIS HAPPENED EVERY TIME UNTIL IT FINALLY QUIT WORKING. WHEN I FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM IT WAS FOUND THAT THE WIRE HARNESS AND THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR TO THE HEATER/A/C WAS BURNED UP. SEEING THE MELTED PLASTIC SURPRISES ME AND MAKES ME WONDER IF IT WAS CLOSE TO CATCHING ON FIRE. NOW I HAVE NO A/C, HEATER, OR DEFROST. I AM CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE WIRE HARNESS CHANGED AND THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR. I WILL HAVE THE OLD PARTS AVAILABLE. *TR

2005 DURAMAX CHEVROLET 3500 TRUCK, WHEN THE ENGINE OVER HEAT LIGHT COMES ON IT SHUTS THE TRUCK OFF....VERY DANGEROUS GOING UP A MOUNTAIN WITH LOTS OF TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD. THIS OVER HEATING IS VERY COMMON FOR THE CHEVY DURAMAX DIESEL TRUCKS FOR 2004-2005 YEARS. *TR
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND HAPPENED TO LOOK DOWN AT MY SPEEDOMETER AND IT WAS SHOWING THAT I WAS GOING 10MPH WHILE I WAS SITTING STILL. THEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE SPEEDOMETER JUMPED TO 85MPH. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE NOTICED THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THIS TRUCK HAS EXPERIENCED TWO FUSE BLOCK FAILURES SINCE NEW. THE SYMPTOM, IN BOTH CASES, WAS THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START. BOTH REPAIRS WERE ACCOMPLISHED AT BROWN AND BROWN CHEVROLET IN MESA ARIZONA. THE FIRST REPAIR OCCURRED IN 2008 AND THE SECOND REPAIR OCCURRED IN 2012. WHEN REIMBURSEMENT WAS REQUESTED FOR THE SECOND FAILURE, THE BROWN AND BROWN SERVICE PERSON AND THE GM CUSTOMER CARE PERSON BOTH DENIED WARRANTY COVERAGE BECAUSE THERE ARE THIRD-PARTY DEVICES INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE. THERE IS AN ALARM SYSTEM AND A KENWOOD STEREO, WITH A GM MODULE, INSTALLED THAT WERE DEEMED THIRD-PARTY. THERE IS ALSO A CB RADIO BUT IT WAS NOT CITED. ALL VEHICLE EQUIPMENT IS POWERED THROUGH FUSES ON THE FUSE BLOCK. NONE OF THE FUSES WERE FOUND TO BE BLOWN BY BROWN AND BROWN, INCLUDING THE ONES POWERING THE THIRD-PARTY EQUIPMENT. THE FUSE BLOCK?S INTENT IS TO DISTRIBUTE POWER TO SUCH DEVICES AND PROTECT THE WIRING WITH ITS INSTALLED FUSES. PROPERLY CONNECTED EQUIPMENT MAY BLOW A FUSE BUT CANNOT STRESS THE FUSE BLOCK TO FAILURE. I REQUESTED THE ?BAD? FUSE BLOCK IN BOTH CASES AND HAVE DISASSEMBLED THE SECOND ONE. I FOUND LOOSE POWER PINS AND NO EVIDENCE OF BURNING OR ARCING. THE DESIGN PERMITS THE POWER PINS TO LOOSEN OVER TIME, CAUSING INTERMITTENT CONNECTIONS. THIS INTERMITTENT CONNECTION WAS VERIFIED BY BROWN AND BROWN; THEY SAID THAT SIMPLY LEANING ON THE FUSE BLOCK WOULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STOP. THIS IS NOT AN EFFECT OF THIRD PARTY EQUIPMENT BUT IS A DESIGN DEFECT OF THE FUSE BLOCK. *TR
I OWN A 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO. THE SPEEDOMETER FLUCTUATES BETWEEN 50 AND 70 MILES AN HOUR. IT ALSO STICKS WHEN SLOWING DOWN FROM 10 MPH TO 0 MPH. TALKED TO SERVICE REP AT LOCAL DEALER, HE WAS AWARE OF THE THIS PROBLEM ALREADY AND TOLD ME GM "MIGHT" DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE FAULTY SPEEDOMETERS. I HAVE HEARD THE WARRANTY ON THIS WAS EXTENDED TO 7 YEAR 70,000 MILES FOR '03 AND '04 MODELS. HOW CAN GM PUT A MILEAGE RESTRICTION ON THE PART THAT MEASURES THE MILEAGE. IF THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, THE ODOMETER SHOULD NOT BE READING ACCURATELY EITHER. WHAT IF THE ODOMETER SAYS YOUR VEHICLE HAS 75000 MILES AND THE VEHICLE REALLY HAS 67000. GUESS WHAT? YOUR WARRANTY PERIOD WOULD HAVE BEEN EXCEEDED IN GM'S EYES, EVEN THOUGH THE ACTUAL MILEAGE IS STILL WITHIN THE WARRANTY LIMITS. PROBLEM WITH ABS BRAKES PREMATURELY ACTIVATING AS I AM COMING TO A STOP. I SLOW DOWN AND WHEN I'M ALMOST TO A STOP THE ABS KICKS IN AND THE PEDAL DROPS DOWN LOWER THAN ANTICIPATED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT SMELLED BURNING WIRE UNDERNEATH THE DASHBOARD. HE LOOKED UNDER THE DASHBOARD AND DISCOVERED A RED, GLOWING, BURNING WIRING HARNESS, WHICH HE THEN UNPLUGGED. THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR AND THE WIRING HARNESS FAILED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,357 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
AIR CONDITIONING BLOWER RESISTOR AND HARNESS BURNED WIRES AT 14,000 MILES AND WAS REPLACED BY AUTHORIZED CHEVY MECHANIC. REPLACED HARNESS AND RESISTOR CAUGHT FIRE A 65,000 MILES. *TR
IN FEBRUARY, 2005 I PURCHASED A 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500 HD FWD PICKUP. FROM DAY 1 I HAD BRAKE FADING WITH THE VEHICLE. I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER WHEN EVER I BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE TO NO AVAIL. IN JULY 2008, WITH 18,359 MILES ON IT I WAS TOLD "THE REAR ROTORS WERE RUSTED TO THE POINT IT WAS AFFECTING BRAKING POWER" AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT ROTORS WERE ALSO RUSTED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED IN JUNE 2009, WITH 25,001 MILES ON IT, I AGAIN HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS AND 3 BLEEDERS WERE RUSTED AND RUINED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH ONE CALIPER. AT THE SAME TIME THE REAR BRAKE PADS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE ROTORS RESURFACED. *TR

I HAVE A 2005 SILVERADO WORK TRUCK. IT STARTED AS AN ANNOYING CLUNK' AND HAS TURNED INTO A CONTINUOUS CLUNK. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, I FOUND THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT IS THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER WONT TOUCH IT EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A BULLETIN FOR '03-'04 MODELS. IF THIS SHAFT FAILS AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE DRIVER IS IN DEEP TROUBLE. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN MADE A FULL BLOWN RECALL? *TR
