SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO ACT ERRATICALLY THEN CEASED TO FUNCTION.*CN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE ON, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CAUGHT FIRE. THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE DEALER ASKED THE CONTACT TO CALL BACK THE FOLLOWING DAY TO SPEAK WITH A MANAGER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 50,000. UPDATED 03/14/08. *LJ
1) JUST HAPPENED. 2) THE RESISTER IN THE BLOWER MOTOR CIRCUIT SHORTS OUT. WHICH CAUSES THE WIRING HARNESS TO BURN UP MELTING THE PLASTIC AT THE CONNECTOR TO THE RESISTER AND THE BLACK WIRE LEADING TO THE RESISTER. 3) I HAD TO REPLACE THE RESISTER TO THE CIRCUIT AND SPLICE IN A NEW WIRING HARNESS FOR THE RESISTER. *TR
ENGINE BLOCK HEATER: HEATER CORD WAS UNWRAPPED FROM FACTORY WRAP UNDER HOOD CORD WAS PLUGGED INTO STANDARD 110 VOLT TEMPERATURE WAS AT OR AROUND 15 DEGREES F CORD WAS LEFT PLUGGED IN FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 TO 3 HOURS UPON RETURN, CORD HAD A BURT SMELL AND HAD MELTED AROUND THE PLUG CORD WAS UNPLUGGED. CORD WAS TRIED AT A LATER DATE, WITH TEMP AROUND 0 DEGREES F CORD PLUG STARTED SMOKING AS SOON AS PLUGGED IN PLUG WAS IMMEDIATELY UNPLUGGED PLUG NEEDS TO BE REPLACED (HAS NOT BEEN DONE AS OF THIS REPORT). *TR
COLD AIR BLOWING INSTEAD OF HOT AIR AND COULD NOT DEFROST WINDSHIELD. HAD TO PULL OFF ROAD AND SCRAPE INSIDE OF WINDSHIELD. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS WHERE HOT AIR IS COMING FROM PASSENGER SIDE AND COLD AIR COMING FROM DRIVERS SIDE. VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU CANNOT SEE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AS WINDOWS FOG OR FREEZE UP. *TR
SPEEDOMETER FAILED, LOCKED ON 60 MPH WILL NOT MOVE, CAUSED RECEIVE SPEEDING TICKET 78 IN 65 ZONE FROM POLICE. ALSO THE COMPANY I WORK FOR HAS A 2005 LIKE THIS ONE,THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED LAST WEEK IN THAT TRUCK. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS, THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. 50,400 MILES. *TR
IN OCTOBER 2007 I PURCHASED A USED 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500 HD PICKUP FROM A USED CAR DEALER WITH 38,515 MILES ON IT. AFTER THE PURCHASE I DISCOVERED THE VEHICLE SPEEDOMETER STICKS AND DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. NOW THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES ALSO APPEAR TO NOT BE SHOWING THE PROPER OPERATING TEMPERATURES FOR THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE RECEIVED NO HELP TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM OTHER THAN TO TELL ME TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER AND PAY $600 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. I HAVE PUT LESS THAN 2000 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND PAID OVER $37000 FOR THE TRUCK. I DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY LEFT TO FIX IT AND I THINK IT IS A SAFETY RISK TO MY FAMILY THERE MUST BE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO HELP SINCE IT APPEARS THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET OVER THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE WHEEL FELT AS IF IT WOULD FALL AND WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES HE COULD FEEL MOVEMENT IN THE STEERING SHAFT. THIS FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE STEERING SHAFT ASSEMBLY; HOWEVER, APPROXIMATELY 8 MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE REOCCURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE DEFECT AND INSTALLED A CURRENT VERSION OF THE STEERING SHAFT. THE FAILURE REOCCURRED ON JULY 27, 2008 ONE HOUR AFTER HE DROVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25700.
FIRE IN CENTER OF DASH. *TR
I AM REGISTERING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I OWN A 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO WITH 15,000 MILES WITH BRAKE LIGHTS WHICH FREQUENTLY FAIL TO FUNCTION. I CHECKED THE PROBLEM MYSELF AND FOUND THERE WAS A CONNECTION ISSUE. WHEN IT CONTINUED TO OCCUR I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER (11/15/07) REQUESTING A DIFFERENT DESIGN WHICH I BELIEVE IS THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. THEY LUBED THE SOCKETS WITH DIELECTRIC GREASE AND THEY ARE ALREADY OUT AGAIN. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD NO OTHER DESIGN TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. WHEN MY BRAKE LIGHTS FAIL TO WORK, UNLESS SOMEONE ALERTS ME, I AM UNAWARE OF THIS ISSUE. IS THIS SOMETHING WHICH CAN BE CORRECTED? IT TRULY IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
SPEEDOMETER QUIT GOING BACK TO ZERO. IT IS NOW STUCK IN THE "PEGGED" POSITION. *TR
2005 SILVERADO PICK UP WITH 77000 MILES PULLING EMPTY TRAILER( WORK) BLOWS HOLE IN #7 PISTON NO WARNING, MAKE IT TO NEAREST DEALER TAKES THEM 2 WEEKS TO DECIDE ENGINE RUINED BUT NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY, THEY SAID BY THERE ( GENERAL MOTORS) PAPERWORK IT LOOKS LIKE I HAVE A POWER ADDER( CHIP) THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM( WHICH I DID NOT HAVE). AFTER OBTAINED THERE ( TSB) INFORMATION IT STATES THAT ONLY IF THERE ARE MULTIPLE PISTONS DAMAGED THEN THERE IS A POWER ADDER, IF ONLY ONE IS DAMAGED IT IS A BAD INJECTOR, THEY REFUSED TO PAY AND I COULD NOT AFFORD TO PAY THERE $16000+ BILL TO PUT A NEW ENGINE SO TOOK TO INDEPENDENT SHOP AND HAD ANOTHER ENGINE PUT IN. *TR
10/28/06 DESPITE FULLY DEPRESSING THE CLUTCH TO SHIFT GEARS, THIS VEHICLE LOCKS IN A GEAR OR CANNOT BE SHIFTED INTO, OR OUT OF GEAR. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IT LOCKED UP IN TRAFFIC WHILE THE TRUCK WAS IN MOTION. 03/10/07 ONE EXTREME INSTANCE OCCURRED IN DALLAS ON A BUSY INTERSTATE SECTION MARCH 3RD WHILE ASTRUD WAS DRIVING. A VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE FOR HER, THE TRUCK STUCK IN GEAR AT 50 MPH. THIS VEHICLE IS SO UNSAFE THAT THE STATE OF TEXAS DPS SHOULD BE NOTIFIED. 11/06/07 IT APPEARS AS IF THE AUTOMATIC CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY, I.E. FROM ONE GEAR CHANGE TO THE NEXT THE PEDAL CAN SUDDENLY MOVE THE ?ENGAGE GEAR POINT? ALMOST HALF OF ITS TRAVEL, AND IT CONTINUES TO LOCK IN LOWER GEARS AND REVERSE AS IT HAS DONE SINCE NEW. 11/9/2007 GUNN CHEVROLET CALLED US YESTERDAY TO LET US KNOW THEY HAD FOUND THE FAULT AND WERE AWAITING PARTS TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR. ON CALLING THERE TODAY, MR. RAY INFORMED ME THAT THE TRUCK IS REPAIRED AND READY FOR US TO COLLECT. 11/10/07 CALLED CHEVROLET WARRANTY OFFICE TO UPDATE THEIR RECORDS ON THE CASE AND THE ASSISTANT, VERNON FROST, IS UPDATING THEIR RECORDS AS WELL AS CONTACTING THE REPAIRING AGENT, GUNN CHEVROLET. HE GAVE US A NEW CASE NUMBER, GM FILE NO 71-573580741 GUNN'S MR. RAY ZAMORA STATED TO MR VERNON FROST OF CHEVROLET THAT A DEFECTIVE THRUST PLATE? CAUSED THE PROBLEM AND WHILE NOT A MISUSE ISSUE, IT IS A RARE OCCURRENCE. 11/9/2007 ON HIS RE-TURN CALL TO ME MR FROST OFFERED A FREE SERVICE FOR THE TRUCK ? WHEN DUE ? AT ANY CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WE SELECT AS A COMPENSATION FOR TWO AND A HALF YEARS OF SUFFERING THIS LEMON TRANSMISSION. I REPLIED THAT IF HE WOULD SEND TO ME IN THE MAIL A LETTER WITH THAT OFFER THEN I WOULD WITH THE HELP OF A QUALIFIED CONSUMER COUNCILOR DECIDE WHAT WAS FAIR AND REASONABLE IN THIS UNUSUAL SITUATION. *TR
2005 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500HD (DURAMAX DIESEL). THE SPEEDOMETER SUDDENLY STOPPED SHOWING AN ACCURATE READING WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH. IT NOW SHOWS 55 MPH WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP AND PEGS OVER 120 MPH WHEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 2004 MODEL YEAR, BUT I'M NOT SEEING ANY INFO YET FOR 2005 (WHICH IS THE MODEL I HAVE). THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FROM GM TO FIX THIS - RATHER THAN THEIR TRICKY LITTLE "SPECIAL" REPLACEMENT RULES THAT LIMIT THE FIX TO 70,000 MILES. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE - NOT BEING ABLE TO TELL HOW FAST I AM TRAVELING AT ANY GIVEN TIME/NOT BEING ABLE TO TRUST MY INSTRUMENT PANEL READINGS. *TR
WHEN DRIVING AT LOW PARKING SPEEDS OR STOPPED STEERING WHEEL IS REALLY HARD TO TURN AND LOCKS UP. MANY NEAR ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS FAULT GM SAYS IT KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT HAS NO FIX FOR IT. VERY UNSAFE CONDITION AND KNOW I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY 50K PLUS PICKUP TRUCK. BUYERS BEWARE. DON'T BUY A GM DIESEL PICKUP. *TR

DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON HWY BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN TO TURN ON ROAD HOME WHEN 150 YRD FROM TURN VERY LOAD BANG. REAR AXLE BROKE. LEFT REAR WHEEL AND AXLE CAME OUT COMPLETELY RIGHT WAS LODGED UNDER WHEEL WELL. DO NOT KNOW YET WHAT ALL THE DAMAGE IS . GM IS COVERING UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE LESS THAN 36,000 MILES. *TR
CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF FRONT WHEEL BEARING WHILE DRIVING. MADE RIGHT HAND TURN, SUDDEN SCREECHING FROM FRONT LEFT WHEEL, BRAKE PEDAL GOT SOFT, GREATLY REDUCED STOPPING POWER, ANTI LOCK SYSTEM ENGAGED. I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE TRANSMISSION SHOP WITH PREVIOUS LISTED COMPLAINT, WHEN I ARRIVED SHOP TECH'S. REMOVED THE WHEEL FOR INSPECTION WHICH REVIEWED A COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE BEARING. BEARING WAS REPLACED ON SITE. NO WARNING SIGNS OF FAILURE SHOWED PREVIOUS. PER SERVICE MANAGER AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, HE OPENLY ADMITTED CHEVROLET HAS HAD A MAJOR PROBLEM IN THIS COMPONENT FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING. TRUCK ONLY HAS 59,000 MILE AND IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. *TR
SPEEDOMETER FAILURE. AT AROUND 55K, MY SPEEDOMETER FAILED. BEFORE IT COMPLETELY FAILED, THE NEEDLE LOOKED LIKE IT WAS STRUGGLING TO KEEP UP WITH SPEED, THEN IT COMPLETELY FAILED. WHEN I NOTICED THE FAILURE, I LOOKED DOWN AND IT SAID I WAS GOING 120MPH, WHICH I WAS NOT. I'VE CALLED THE ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THEY SAID THE 03'S AND 04'S WERE RECALLED, BUT THE 05'S WEREN'T. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE 05 SUBURBAN WAS UNDER RECALL? AND THAT MINE SHOULD BE TOO BECAUSE OF THE SAME CLUSTER PANEL. I'VE HEARD NOTHING YET ON A RECALL, AND I DON'T WANT TO BE TICKETED BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW FAST I AM GOING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED AND A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING OCCURRED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE OFF OF THE ROAD. EXTREME PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN REFUSED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY UNDER CARRIAGE CORROSION REGARDLESS OF THE SEVERITY. THE MANAGER AGREED TO REPLACE THE CORRODED POWER STEERING TANK AND REPAIR THE BRAKES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY DO NOT COVER ANY CORROSION UNDER THE SERVICE WARRANTY DUE TO THE ENVIRONMENT. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD NOT APPLY TO CORROSION FAILURES WHERE THE RESIDENCE WAS CLOSE TO A BEACH WITH EXPOSURE OF SALT IN THE AIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000. GM CONTINUES TO IGNORE THE FACT THAT CERTAIN MODEL VEHICLES HAVE A INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT PROBLEM. IT IS A WELL KNOWN AND FAIRLY COMMON FACT. THEY CURRENTLY HAVE A REPLACEMENT PART THAT WILL REMEDY THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSE TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
KNOCKING IN STEERING COLUMN. THE DEALER FIXED IT ONCE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NOW IT'S BACK AND DEALER IS QUOTING $270 FOR 'TEMP' REPAIR, AND CLAIMS THERE IS NO PERMANENT REPAIR FOR IT?? *TR
VEHICLE QUITS RUNNING AND MAY RESTART AFTER 10 MINUTES OR MAY NOT. IT SHUTS OFF AT ANY SPEED AND AT RED LIGHTS. WHEN ON A HILL IT WILL ROLL BACK INTO WHATEVER IS BEHIND. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 6 TIMES AND THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG. SOMETIMES THERE IS POWER TO THE DASH AND LIGHTS, OTHER TIMES THE DASH GOES DARK AS IF THERE WAS NO POWER AT ALL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. OVER A THREE WEEK PERIOD, WHILE DRIVING 8 MPH, THE ANTILOCK BRAKES FAILED. THE ABS WOULD LOCK UP THE PEDALS AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE. THE REPAIR COST $400. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 44,250.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED 140 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYS THE INCORRECT MILEAGE AT ALL TIMES WHILE STOPPED AND DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE REPAIR SHOP STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2003-2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500, HOWEVER, NO RECALL WAS FOUND IN THE NHTSA DATABASE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 42,933.
2005 CHEVROLET 2500HD SPEEDOMETER WENT OUT IT WAS SHOWING THE WRONG SPEEDS, GOT STUCK AT 120MPH THE WOULDN'T GO BELOW 70MPH. VERY UNSAFE, CHEVY SHOULD RECALL THE DASH CLUSTER, I MEAN COME ON...$55,000 DOLLARS SHOULD AT LEAST GET YOU A WORKING SPEEDO... *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO WITH A 8.1 LITER ENGINE, I WAS TURNED DOWN ON MY WARRANTY BECAUSE THERE WAS RUST IN THE FUEL RAIL. WE TOOK FUEL SAMPLES AND THERE WAS NO WATER IN THE FUEL TANK, NOR THE FUEL LINES. SO HOW DID THE RUST GET IN THE FUEL RAIL AND INJECTORS. I DID NOTICE THAT THE NEW RAIL THAT THE GM DEALER INSTALLED WAS STAINLESS STEEL. WHEN I BRING IT UP THE DEALER NOR GM WILL TALK ABOUT IT. THIS REPAIR WAS GOING TO BE WARRANTY BUT INSTEAD IT COST ME $1,145.50 DOLLARS. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER. THE PEOPLE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM SAID THEY WOULD GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK, BUT NOW ALL THEIR OFFERING ME IS $218.00 I TOLD THEM TO SHOVE IT. THIS TRUCK COSTS ME $41,900.00 DOLLARS! THE LAST THING I WANT IS THIS WARRANTY COMPANY TO TELL ME IS NO! THE WARRANTY COST ME ANOTHER 2,000.00 I CAN TELL IT ISN'T WORTH THE PAPER IT IS WRITTEN ON. PLEASE I AM ON MY LAST KNEE, PLEASE HELP ! *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACH GAUGES HAVE BEEN MESSED UP FOR NEARLY A YEAR NOW AND I CAN NOT GET GM TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IT IS ON AN 05 SILVERADO AND THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING TO ANY TRUCK AFTER 04. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE FRONT END VIBRATED VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE FRAME SPLIT IN HALF. AS OF OCTOBER 1, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 46,000. UPDATED 10/24/07. *JB
THE FAN SPEED SELECTOR WIRING PLUG IN THE PASSENGER SIDE COMPARTMENT STARTED SMOKING WHEN THE FAN WAS ON SPEED 5. I GOT IT TURNED OFF AND LOOKED AT IT WHEN I GOT HOME AND FOUND THE PLUG AT THE HOT WIRE AND THE HOT WIRE (RED ONE) WERE MELTED. IT HAPPENED AT 37590 MILES. COULD HAPPEN TO MORE VEHICLES. *JB
MY CHEVY SILVERADO HAS HAD THE STEERING FIXED 3 TIMES AND ITS DOING IT AGAIN. WE ARE NOT SURE WHY ITS DOING IT, THE STEERING WHEEL TURN 2 TIMES AROUND TO MAKE A TURN, EVEN AT AN INTERSECTION. THE GARAGE HERE HAS WORKED ON IT AND SAY THEY HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THAT YEAR OF TRUCK. WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL ON IT BY NOW? IT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT VERY EASILY. *JB
SPEEDOMETER WORKS INTERMITTENTLY AND DOES NOT INDICATE THE CORRECT SPEED. WHEN WORKING, IT MAY INDICATE SPEEDS UP TO 30 MPH LESS THAN THE ACTUAL VEHICLE SPEED. IT DOES NOT INDICATE HIGHER SPEEDS, ONLY LOWER OR NOT AT ALL. *TR
DRIVING HOME, INJECTOR HARNESS FAILED ON MY 2005 CHEVY DURAMAX. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT GM SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL ON. I HAD TO LIMP HOME AT 15 MPH, THIS WAS AFTER MIDNIGHT AROUND CURVY ROADS. EVENTS LAST WEEK, ONE OF OUR 2005 SILVERADO'S (HAS 40,000 MILES), WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE HAD A SERIOUS TIRE BLOW OUT. IT TORE COMPLETELY APART. WE HAVE PICTURES TO DOCUMENT THE CONDITION OF THE TIRE. THE RIM OF THE TRUCK WAS DAMAGED BECAUSE OF THE TIRE BLOW OUT. AFTER THE TIRE BLEW OUT, THE TRUCK WAS COMPLETELY ON THE RIM. LUCKILY, THE DRIVER WAS NOT INJURED. THIS WAS A VERY SERIOUS INCIDENT, BUT HE WAS ABLE TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER AND NOT DAMAGE THE TRUCK ANY FURTHER. THE TIRE WAS A BRIDGESTONE DUELER A/T. UNDER THE SELECT TIRE SIZE THE CORRECT INFORMATION IS 26570R17. I WAS UNABLE TO PUT THIS INFORMATION IN THAT BOX. FAILURE THE TIRE BLEW OUT. DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MILES PER HOUR, SPEEDOMETER SUDDENLY STARTED FLUCTUATING WILDLY AND NOW WILL NOT WORK. THE NEEDLE SITS ANYWHERE FROM 0 MPH TO 120 MPH BUT IS NEVER ACCURATE. I COULD BE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH AND THE SPEEDOMETER READS 120 MPH, OR COMPLETELY STOPPED AND THE SPEEDOMETER READS 90 MPH. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STOPPED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER REPLACED THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING PART WITH A PART THAT WAS DESIGNED FOR 4 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES. THERE WAS NO AXLE SHAFT AVAILABLE FOR 2 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES. THE PART NUMBER WAS 15946732. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,695 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 110 MPH. THE SPEEDOMETER FAILS TO DISPLAY THE CORRECT SPEED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 65,000.
ON A 2005 TRUCK WITH 20,000 MILES ON AND IT'S A BABIED TRUCK THE BRAKE ROTORS APPEAR WARPED AS IT HAS A WAVE LIKE BRAKING. EVEN WORSE WHEN BRAKING ON A SURFACE WITH POOR CONTACT, SANDY, SAND ON CONCRETE OR BLACKOP, WET CEMENT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES COMPLETELY RELEASE AND THE TRUCK JUMPS FORWARD LIKE NO BRAKES ARE APPLIED 15 FT. OR SO. I'D MUCH RATHER HAVE NO ANTI-LOCKS BECAUSE AT LEAST I CAN USE A STABBING MOTION IF NEEDED. THESE BRAKES DON'T WORK LIKE NORMAL ANTI-LOCKS. IT FULLY RELEASES AND THERE'S TOO MUCH LAG TIME BEFORE THEY RESUME BRAKING. I CAN LIVE WITH THE SPEEDOMETER READING WRONG AT TIMES, THE KNOCK IN THE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPAIRED, EVEN THE WARPED ROTORS THAT STARTED AT 12,000 MILES BUT THESE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ARE A SAFETY HAZARD. PLEASE LOOK INTO THESE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SPANNING SEVERAL YEARS. *TR
I OWN BOTH A CHEVY SILVERADO AND SUBURBAN 2005. BOTH VEHICLES WILL RANDOMLY START BLOWING HOT AIR OUT THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I KNOW AT LEAST 5 OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE 2005 CHEVYS AND THEIR VEHICLE DOES THE SAME THING. I TRIED WORKING WITH THE DEALER AND CHEVY AND BOTH ACT LIKE THEY NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM. SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE 2007, WHEN VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. HAS BEEN TO BOB GRIMM CHEVROLET IN MORTON, IL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM APPROX 9 TIMES. I NO LONGER LIVE IN THE VICINITY OF THIS DEALER, AND WOULDN'T WANT THEM WORKING ON IT AGAIN SINCE THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPAIR MULTIPLE TIMES. 2005 SILVERADO WITH BRAKE PROBLEMS CUSTOMER STATES THAT THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT**CC THE CONSUMER STATED APPROACHED A STOP SIGN AND REALIZED THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THE POWER ASSIST WAS NOT WORKING. THE CONSUMER LEFT THE VEHICLE WITH THE DEALER FOR 2 DAYS TO ASSESS THE PROBLEM BUT TO NO AVAIL. FIRST THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE STOP WORKING, ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO. FLUCTUATES NOW, UP AND DOWN. SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK NOW. STARTED OUT BY READING AROUND 45 MILES PER HOUR WHEN SITTING AT A DEAD STOP. THEN STAY STAYED AT 110 MILES AND HOUR WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. DOES NOT WORK. *TR

SPEEDOMETER ON MY TRUCK READS INCORRECTLY. THIS MORNING I STARTED MY TRUCK AND WAS INSTANTLY GOING 25 MPH, WHICH THEN INDICATED I WAS DRIVING AT 60MPH GOING WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC ON A 35MPH ROAD. ALSO WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY SPEEDOMETER READING WILL SLOWLY DROP UNTIL IT REACHES 0MPH. I JUST BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN JULY AND DIDN'T REALIZE THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS UNTIL I WAS INCREASING MY SPEED ON THE FREEWAY AND FLYING PAST CARS AT PROBABLY 90MPH, BUT MY SPEEDOMETER SAID I WAS GOING 60, THAT IS WHEN I LOOKED AND JUST SAW THE SPEEDOMETER SLOWLY CREEP DOWN TO 30. I PURCHASED THE TRUCK AT 64000 AND NOTICED THE PROBLEM SEVERAL DAYS AFTER. LATELY THE SPEEDOMETER ALMOST ALWAYS ADDS 20-30 MPH IN THE MORNING WHEN I START IT. (ITS REALLY FUN TO BE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT DOING 100MPH). I HAVE NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. I JUST CALLED THE DEALER TO DAY AND THEY SAID BECAUSE MY MILEAGE IS OVER 70000 MILES THEY WILL CHARGE ME TO FIX IT. I REALLY DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT IF YOU LOOK ONLINE APPEARS TO BE HAPPENING TO A LOT OF DIFFERENT PEOPLE WITH A LOT OF DIFFERENT VEHICLES. I ALSO DISCOVERED THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT ABOUT THIS BUT I REALLY DON'T KNOW ANY OF THIS BECAUSE I JUST BOUGHT THIS TRUCK IN JULY AND WAS NEVER TOLD BY THE DEALER OR HAVE I RECEIVED ANY RECALL OR SERVICE NOTICES YET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500HD. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH OVER UNEVEN PAVEMENT THE STEERING COLUMN BEGAN TO RATTLE. IN ADDITION, THE ODOMETER FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS REPLACED. THE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT WAS PLACED ON ORDER. THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED WHEN THE PART BECOMES AVAILABLE. IN 2006, THE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE RECENTLY RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AND REAR TIRES HAVE SPLIT OPEN JUST BELOW THE TREAD LINE. THE TIRES SPLIT WITHIN ONE WEEK OF EACH OTHER. HE HAS HAD ONE OF THE TIRES REPLACED BECAUSE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WAY THAT THE TIRES COULD BE REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE, DOT NUMBER, AND VEHICLE INFORMATION WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT THE COST OF $400. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 145,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
