TOWING TRAILER ON THE I90 INTERSTATE. SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND UNABLE TO REGAIN SPEED ON HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY. DEALER DIAGNOSED AS "FUEL FILTER" PROBLEM. HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS SEEMS COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM DURAMAX DIESELS FROM 2003 TO PRESENT. THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER CAN BE DANGEROUS ON HIGH SPEED HIGHWAYS AS SPEED IS CUT DRASTICALLY AND SPEED CANNOT BE REGAINED TO MAKE A SAFE PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THE STEERING FAILED. THE DRIVER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE FOR LOW FLUIDS, LEAKS, AND OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSES OF FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED BY A MECHANIC. THE CONTACT IS AWARE OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED AND THAT THE IMMEDIATE FAILURE COULD CAUSE A CRASH. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS PRESENT. THE CONTACT HAS NEVER RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTICES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 200,078.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH THEN TO 35 MPH SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ILLUMINATED ALONG WITH A SEVERE REDUCTION IN ENGINE POWER(LIMP HOME MODE). THE CAUSE IS THE INJECTOR CONNECTOR CIRCUITS ON CYLINDERS 2 AND 7 ARE NOT FULLY SUPPORTED NEAR THE CONNECTOR AND ARE MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO TERMINAL BREAKAGE FROM ENGINE VIBRATION. *JB

SPEEDOMETER FAULTY INCORRECT AT TIMES. WHEN TOWING MY 5TH WHEEL CAMPER. FROM TIME TO TIME THE SPEEDOMETER WILL STOP AT 0, 20, OR 40 MPH WHILE I AM REACHING SPEEDS OF 65 MPH VERIFIED BY MY GPS. THIS SEEMS TO BE INTERMITTENT. I AM AT 27,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK, 05 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500 HD DURAMAX. *TR
I BOUGHT THE 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO IN JUNE 2005 BRAND NEW. WITHIN TWO MONTHS OF HAVING THE TRUCK I NOTICED THAT IT WOULD NOT SHIFT PROPERLY THROUGH THE GEARS, WHEN IT WOULD, IT LURCHED. IT HAPPENED TWICE IN ONE DAY. THIS HAPPENED MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY AND STILL DOES IT, HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP THAT I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. ALSO, I HAD OTHER PEOPLE DRIVE THE TRUCK, AND THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 12 OR 13 TIMES, BUT THEY NEVER COULD FIND THE PROBLEM. I ALSO HAD AN INCIDENT WHERE VEHICLE REVVED INTO PARK AND IT STAYED AT A HIGH IDLE FOR SEVERAL SECOND BEFORE FINALLY RETURNING TO A NORMAL IDLE LIKE THE THAROTLE STUCK. IN ADDITION TO THE PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION, I HAVE HAD POWER LOCK PROBLEMS. I CAN STAND NEXT TO THE TRUCK AND THE LOCKS WILL NOT UNLOCK. ALL OF MY COWORKERS COULD UNLOCK THEIR VEHICLES FROMA DISTANCE BUT MINE WILL NOT. I HAD TO WALK AROUND THE TRUCK SEVERAL TIMES AND CONTINUALLY PRESS THE UNLOCK BUTTON BEFORE THE LOCKS WOULD UNLOCK. I HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER LOCKS UNLOCKING FROM INSIDE THE TRUCK WITH THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES NOW. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE LOCK OR THE KEY FOBS. MY CD PLAYED AT A BRAND NEW CD, AT TIMES THE CD'S WILL NOT COME OUT OR GO IN, AND THE RADIO STATIONS WILL APPEAR ON THE DISPLAY WRONG. IN ADDITION TO ALL OF THAT, LAST SUMMER I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND I HAD SMOKE START POURING OUT OF MY VENTS. I THOUGHT THE TRUCK WAS OVER HEATING AT FIRST. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THAT IT WAS JUST CONDINSATION. I HAD THE TRUCK THE SUMMER BEFORE AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE IT. I ALSO TOOK MY TRUCK IN THIS YEAR FOR NEW TIRES, MIND YOU I HAD LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. THE PLACE WHERE I GOT THE TRUCK WAS AMAZED THAT I NEEDED NEW TIRES SINCE I HAD SO FEW MILES ON THE TRUCK. *AK
TRUCK USED FOR TRAVEL TO AND FROM WORK. SPEEDOMETER WORKED FINE UNTIL ABOUT 54,000 MILES THEN WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. SPEEDOMETER GAVE OUT ABOUT 63,000 MILES AND IS STUCK AT 84 MILES PER HOUR, EVEN WHEN PARKED. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY INDICATED IT WOULD COST APPROX. $400-$550 TO FIX. I HAVE OWNED 2 CHEVY TRUCKS PRIOR TO THIS ONE. I ONCE HAD TO REPLACE THE SPEEDOMETER CABLE ON MY 1979 CHEVY AFTER IT WENT OUT AFTER NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OF 15 YEARS. I KNOW THAT THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THEY USED TOO, BUT THE SPEEDOMETER OUT AT 63,000 MILES, WITH ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. I AM SAD TO SAY I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE QUALITY OF MY CHEVY TRUCK. *TR
AT AROUND 37,000 MILES THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED STICKING AND AROUND 45,000 MILES IT COMPLETELY WENT OUT AND HAS BEEN STUCK AT 120 MPH EVER SINCE. I TOOK IT TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST AROUND 800.00 DOLLARS TO FIX. I CALLED AND COMPLAINED TO GM CUSTOMER SERVICE, AT WHICH TIME THEY DID NOTHING BUT TOLD ME TO TAKE IT IN AND GET IT REPAIR AT MY EXPENSE. I HAVEN'T HAD THE MONEY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED SO FAR SO I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITHOUT IT. I THINK CHEVY SHOULD RECALL THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTERS AND FIX THE PROBLEM AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE. *TR
WHILE TOWING APPROXIMATELY 11,000 POUNDS, VEHICLE EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE EXCEEDED 1300 DEGREES. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. DEALER, MOSSY CHEVROLET STATED THIS IS NORMAL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE ASSEMBLY DEBRIS IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER DID NOT MAKE THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,248.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR CALIBERS ON THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO FREEZE AND WAS WEARING DOWN THE ROUTER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CALIBER 3 YEARS AGO AND THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE FAILURE RECURRENCE WAS TOO SOON SINCE THE LAST REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS HAD NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH DURING RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A CEMENT BARRIER. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THREE PASSENGERS WERE INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED A MONTH BEFORE THE CRASH AND WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,147.
VERY HARD TO STEER AT LOW RPM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT 10,000 MILES, WHENEVER THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE AND INCREASE STOPPING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE BRAKES PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN AT 29,000 MILES AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE BRAKES PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED AGAIN. AT 32,500 MILES, THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN AND A CRASH OCCURRED AS A RESULT. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND A POLICE REPORT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE INSURANCE COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED THE CONTACT THE BRAKE CALIPER WAS LOCKED, THE WRIST PIN WAS RUSTED AND THE ROTOR WAS CRACKED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,600.
1. I BOUGHT A USED "CERTIFIED" 2500 HD SILVERADO WITH 33000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE OWNED IT ABUT THREE MONTHS. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS I HAVE NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION SLIP OR "HESITATE" WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THE ENGINE WILL REV BUT THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE. WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS I CAN FEEL IT SHIFT SUDDENLY AND THE CAR WILL MOVE. 2. I NOTICED A WHINING SOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION WHEN IT IS IN GEAR. CHEVROLET SERVICE DEPARTMENT TELLS ME IT IS COMMON ON MY TRUCK AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT, IT IS THE PLENARY. THE SOUND IS LOUDER AND CONTINUES THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE DRIVING RANGE. IT BEGAN AT ABOUT 35000 MILES. THE SERVICE REP STATED THEY HAD A SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT ON IT, BUT I HAVE NOT SEEN THAT YET. 3. ABOUT THREE WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT THE TRUCK, I NOTICED A CLICKING AND GRINDING SOUND WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED LIGHTLY. FIRST TIME IN THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. SECOND TIME IN THEY FOUND THE LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING AND REPLACED THAT. THE THIRD TIME IN THEY ADJUSTED THE BRAKES SO THAT IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO APPLY LIGHT BREAK PRESSURE. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS OF USE THE BRAKES LOOSENED UP SOME AND NOW THE CLICKING AND GRINDING NOISE IS BACK AND IT IS MORE NOTICEABLE WITH EVEN A LITTLE HEAVIER PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES. I WILL BE SCHEDULING A RETURN TRIP FOR THIS AND THE WHINING SOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION, BUT GM SEEMS TO TAKE THE APPROACH THAT IF IT IS "FUNCTIONING" DON'T REPAIR IT. *JB
MY SPEEDOMETER DON'T GIVE CORRECT READING WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED. ACTUALLY DON'T WORK RIGHT AT ALL! *TR
CONTINUING PROBLEM WITH LOSS OF ACCELERATION/POWER BUT ONLY WHEN IT IS NOT RAINING OR WHEN THE HUMIDITY IS BELOW 95%. THIS RESULTS IN POOR FUEL ECONOMY. I ALSO WITNESSED THE EVAP PURGE SOLENOID MAKING UNUSUAL/LOUD KNOCKING SOUNDS. BEEN TO DEALER 6 TIMES FOR THIS PERFORMANCE ISSUE. THE ONLY CODE FOUND WAS FOR DEFECTIVE EVAP CANISTER. IT RAN BETTER BUT DID NOT FIX IT. WITH MY SCANNER, IT TAKES ALMOST A WEEK TO FINISH SYSTEM TESTING ON THE EVAP CIRCUIT WHERE IT ONLY TAKES ONE WARM-UP AND COOL-DOWN TO FINISH TESTING ON ALL THE OTHER CIRCUITS. MY SUSPICION IS THAT THE EVAP PURGE SOLENOID NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I'M TIRED OF PAYING $100 DIAGNOSTIC FEES TO BE TOLD "THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK". I KNOW BETTER SINCE I'VE DRIVEN AND WORKED ON MY OWN TRUCKS FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS NOW. *TR
TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED MY TIRES WERE ALMOST BALD...HAD ONLY 16,900+ MILES. DEALERSHIP REPLACE TIRES, BUT NOT THE SAME TYPE. YES, SAME BRAND, BRIDGESTONE DUELLER A/T. ALSO DEALERSHIP DID A REALIGNMENT. TRUCK NEVER RODE THE SAME AFTER THE ALIGNMENT AND THE NEW TIRES. DEALERSHIP REPLACED TWO ON THE BACK AFTER MY MECHANIC NOTED THEY WERE EGG SHAPED. THIS STILL DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. TIRES GIVEN TO ME WERE BAD AND THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT CORRECT. TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THEIR GM REP WRODE WITH ME AND NOTED THE TRUCK RUNNING ROUGH FROM THE TIRES. ORDERED A ROAD FORCE BALANCING ON THE TIRES. THIS DID NOT WORK ALSO. NOW THIS DEALERSHIP WILL LOOK AT MY VEHICLE AN FURTHER. TRUCK IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. DID TAKE IT TO TIRE SERVICE CENTER AND THEY SAID THE TIRES ARE BAD AND TRUCK NEEDS REALIGNMENT AND ALSO A CHECK OF THE FRONT END. ADVISOR STATED HE COULD FEEL EVERY DIVOT IN THE ROAD, WHICH IS NOT NORMAL. FAXED THEIR REPORT TO THE LOCAL GM REP AND HE REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. NEITHER DEALERSHIP WILL EVEN LOOK AT THE PROBLEM. I AM AFRAID FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. CAN YOU HELP ME? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. AT 25 MPH ON A CLEAR DAY, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE BRAKES AND STEERING, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE INTO A SNOW BANK. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE DEALER REPLACED THE HYDRO BOOST ASSEMBLY IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REPAIR COST $925. THE DEALER NOTIFIED THE CONTACT OF RECALL CAMPAIGN # 05V04300 FOR THE SERVICE BRAKES, BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ON 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO FAILED ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR 650 CHEVY INTENTIONALLY INSTALLED DEFECTIVE MOTORS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER THAT HAD BEEN RECALLED ON THE 2003 SILVERADO CAUSING THE SPEEDOMETER,GAS GAUGE, TACH, TO STOP WORKING MAKING AN UNSAFE SITUATION AS YOU CANT TELL YOUR SPEED OR HOW MUCH FUEL YOU HAVE IN YOUR TANK POTENTIALLY LEAVING YOU STRANDED ON BAD ROADS OUT OF GAS OR TAKING A CORNER FASTER THAN THE POSTED SPEED BECAUSE OF NOT KNOWING HOW FAST YOU ARE DRIVING. CHEVY KNOWS THIS INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS DEFECTIVE AND REFUSES TO REPAIR IT. JUST LIKE TOYOTA. *TR
EVAP EMISSION FAILURE. *TR
FELT LIKE THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, WHICH MADE IT VERY HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN MAKING A TURN AT LOW SPEED. THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE TRUCK WAS LES THAN 6,000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. TOOK TO DEALER WHO SAID THAT THE RACK AND PENION WAS BAD. THEY CONTACTED THE FACTIRY REP. WHO COVERED THE PART AND I PAID FOR THE LABOR.

TOOK 05 SILVERADO 1500 TO DEALER FOR A NOISE IN STEERING (CLUNKING SOUND) WHEN IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER RE-PACKED THE STEERING SHAFT. A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER AND AFTER WARRANTY THE CLUNKING SOUND CAME BACK. WISH I HAD KNOW TO SETTLE FOR A NEW INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT FROM THE GET GO AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH . *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 5-30 MPH, THE COLLAPSIBLE STEERING COLUMN IS VERY LOOSE AND RATTLES LOUDLY. THE CONTACT HAS NOT YET SCHEDULED A REPAIR APPOINTMENT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
DURING A ROUTINE MORNING COMMUTE, I NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD ILLUMINATED. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE MALFUNCTION, I NOTICED A SEVERE DECREASE IN ENGINE POWER AND THE ENGINE STARTED TO VIBRATE AND MIS-FIRE HEAVILY. I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND HAD TO PULL OFF OF THE ROAD TO AVOID A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT SITUATION. I THEN SHUT THE TRUCK OFF, AND RE-STARTED THE VEHICLE TO POSSIBLY RE-SET THE LIGHT. THE ENGINE STARTED AND SEEMED TO RUN SMOOTHLY AGAIN, BUT THE LIGHT STAYED ILLUMINATED. IT WAS 7AM, SO I DECIDED TO VERY SLOWLY DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THE TRUCK. THE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED A DIAGNOSIS, AND FOUND A HARD CODE OF P2146 INSULATE FICM. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THE MAIN FUEL INJECTOR SYSTEM WIRING HARNESS HAD CHAFFED ON A FACTORY INSTALLED BRACKET AND THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS IN STOCK, AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR ONE WEEK TO HAVE THE PARTS REPLACED. IN THE MEANTIME, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT HE HAD "INSULATED" THE HARNESS, AND THAT THE LIGHT WAS OUT. HE STATED THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK WITHOUT ANY ISSUES, BUT IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN AND I ALSO RECEIVE A "LOW POWER" MESSAGE ON THE ANNUNCIATOR PANEL IN THE DASHBOARD, THAT I MUST PARK THE TRUCK AND GET A RENTAL VEHICLE UNTIL THE PARTS ARRIVE AND REPAIRS CAN BE MADE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THIS WOULD CAUSE FOUR OF THE EIGHT CYLINDERS TO SHUT DOWN AND CAUSE A LEAN ENGINE FUEL CONDITION WHICH COULD RESULT IN ENGINE FAILURE. AS OF YET, PARTS TO BE REPLACED WITHIN ONE WEEKS TIME. *NM
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO CREW CAB 4 DOOR WITH 48000 MILES AND I HAVE NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION HESITATING ON TAKE OFF . I HAVE A KEYLESS ENTRY AND SOMETIMES MY REAR DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK WITH REMOTE OR DOOR SWITCHES AN I HAVE TO MANUALLY UN LOCK THEM . I ALSO NOTICES LAST NIGHT IN TRAFFIC WITH A/C OFF THE TEMP GOT ABOVE 210 DEG. F. *JB

2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HD 2500. DRIVING HEAD LIGHTS AUTOMATICALLY CAME ON BY THEMSELVES. VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AT 7:00 PM, RECEIVED A PHONE CALL AT 3:00 AM THAT THE HEAD LIGHTS WERE ON. VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN MOVED OR STARTED SINCE IT HAD BEEN PARKED AT 7:00 PM. COULD NOT GET THE LIGHTS TO SHUT OFF. RESTARTED VEHICLE AND SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND LIGHTS STILL WOULDN'T SHUT OFF. THE HEAD LIGHTS WERE ON BUT NO TAIL LIGHTS. TURNED AUTOMATIC HEAD LIGHT SWITCH O OFF, NOTHING HAPPENED. IT TOOK ABOUT 5 TIMES OF DOING THIS BEFORE THEY FINALLY SHUT OFF. IT SEEMS LIKE IT MAYBE A FAULTY SWITCH. *NM
DRIVING TRUSTING THE FUEL GAUGE SINCE TRUCK IS FAIRLY NEW. GOT ON THE FREEWAY WITH 3/4 LEFT ON FUEL. LONG STRETCH THROUGH MOUNTAINS. WHEN I GOT TO 1/2 TANK TRUCK STARTED PULLING AND TURNED OFF. NO CELL PHONE SERVICE TO CALL ROADSIDE. WAITED FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS UNTIL HIGHWAY PATROL SHOWED UP AND CALLED ROADSIDE. WHEN TANK WAS FILLED UP ALL THE WAY NEEDLE MARKER WAS WAY OVER THE "F". I THEN READ AN ARTICLE ON WWW.DIESELPLACE.COM SIMILAR PROBLEM ON OTHER TRUCKS. IT SAID TO PULL THE FUSE OUT FOR THE GAUGES FOR 30 SECONDS AND THEN PUT IT BACK ON AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM. *JB
I WAS DRIVING 55 MPH ON A STATE HIGHWAY WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED REVVING UP. THE TRANSMISSION QUIT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH ONLY 63,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION WOULD ENGAGE BUT WOULD SLIP OUT OF GEAR AROUND 45 MPH THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $2700. TOOK 3 DAYS 18000 MILES LATER DRIVING DOWN A COUNTRY ROAD THE TRANSMISSION QUIT AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP IT HOME (60 MILES) IN FIRST GEAR. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A RARE OCCURENCE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER SENT CONSUMER TO A GLASS REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE GLASS WAS REPLACED. THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET. YESTERDAY THE TRUCK WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. NO ONE WAS IN THE TRUCK . THE CONSUMER WENT OUTSIDE AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW EXPLODED AGAIN. THE GLASS WAS REPLACED FOR A SECOND TIME AND THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY AGAIN. THE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT WAS CAUSING THIS FAILURE. NO ONE AT THE DEALER KNEW WHY THIS HAPPENED. THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH SLOW SPEED ABS SENSORS AT THE COST OF $212 EACH. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY Z-71. THE WHEEL CENTER CAPS FLY OFF OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE PAST MONTH, AND DURING THE LATEST INCIDENT IT ALMOST CAUSED A SEVERE CAR ACCIDENT. THE CENTER CAP FLEW OFF OF MY DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL AND HIT AN ONCOMING VEHICLE ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2003 AND 2004 SILVERADO'S PERTAINING TO THE SPEEDOMETER, BUT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON HIS 2005 VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE AND THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN OPERATING PROPERLY A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER, WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED 80 MPH. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

HE SPOKE WITH THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,488 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,480.
CURRENTLY I HAVE THE GENERAL AMERITRAC TIRES ON MY VEHICLE ( 245 70R17), I AM WRITING BECAUSE I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE TIRES THAT IT ON MY 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO. I HAVE NOTICED VIBRATIONS AT SPEEDS OVER 80 MPH (ON A RARE RESPONSE TO A FIRE CALL IN PERSONAL VEHICLE). ALSO THE TIRES HAVE NOT HELD UP AT ALL I NOTICED UNEVEN TREAD WEAR AT 10,000 MILES AND WITH ROTATION AND BALANCING IT SEEMS TO BE WORSENING, THE TIRE TREAD CURRENTLY (31,000 MILES) IS WITHERING TO THE POINT IT IS UNSAFE AND SEEMS TO WANT TO HYDROPLANE VERY EASILY ( DONE THIS NEW ALSO). REAR BRAKE ROTORS RUSTED AND PADS ONLY MAKING 1/2" CONTACT ON INBOARD SIDE OF ROTORS ON 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500 HD WITH LESS THAN 11,000 MILES. GM FIX IS TO TURN ROTORS INSTEAD OF REPLACING WITH ROTORS THAT DON'T RUST THIS QUICKLY. *JB
