TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AND APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT, THE BRAKES FAILED AND WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED TO THE POINT OF CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. UPDATED 10/26/17*LJ *JS
NOTICED UPPER BRAKE LIGHT ON WHILE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. TRUCK WOULDN'T START. TRUCK WOULDN'T ACCEPT AN EXTENDED JUMP. TRUCK TOWED.MECHANIC FOUND THE UNDER DASH FUSE BOX MELTED IN TWO DIFFERENT PLACES. TRUCK NEEDED NEW FUSE BOX. PLUGS AND INTERIOR WIRING HARNESS. NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAD BEEN MADE TO THIS VEHICLE. PARTS HAVE BEEN SAVED. $1,745.00 TO FIX. I SEE MANY REPORTS OF ELECTRICAL FIRES IN GM, CHEVY PRODUCTS ON THE WEB WITH NO APPARENT ACTION TO FORCE A FIX. VEHICLES ARE BEING DESTROYED, SEVERELY DAMAGED, PEOPLE AND PROPERTY ENDANGERED BECAUSE THEY ARE APPARENTLY USING CHEAP, INFERIOR GRADE PRODUCTS. PEOPLE WOULD NOT MIND PAYING A FEW DOLLARS MORE TO ENSURE THEY WON'T DIE IN A FIRE OR HAVE THEIR HOUSE BURN DOWN. I'M NOT A FAN OF GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS BUT IF THESE COMPANY'S WON'T VOLUNTARILY DO THE RIGHT THING PERHAPS THE GOVERNMENT HAS TO MANDATE SPECIFIC GAUGE WIRING AND CONTACTS. THANKS *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND WENT TO PRESS THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I NEEDED TO DOWNSHIFT AND COAST TO GET THE TRUCK TO STOP. MY TRUCK IS A 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500, EXT CAB, 4X4. TRUCK IS NOW IN SHOP GETTING FIXED. $1000 TO REPAIR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED IN THE FIRST PLACE. STAINLESS STEEL LINES ($40 MORE FOR GM) WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THE ISSUE. I AM GLAD I WAS NOT IN A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA WHERE OTHER CARS COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 194,000.
MY WIFE AND I WERE LEAVING HOME TO GO IN TO TOWN TO PICK UP SOME ITEMS WITH THE TRUCK. WHEN APPROACHING THE ROADWAY SHE APPLIED THE FOOT BRAKE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, THERE WAS NO STOPPING. THE EMERGENCY MECHANICAL BRAKE WAS USED SO WE WOULD NOT GET HIT. AFTER GETTING OUT AND SEEING FLUID DRIP, I OPENED THE HOOD TO FIND A CRACKED AND RUSTED BRAKE LINE THAT WAS LEAKING A LARGE AMOUNT OF BRAKE FLUID. RESEARCHING THIS VEHICLE IT SEEMS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT. THIS TRUCK SPENT MANY YEARS IN WISCONSIN BEFORE WE LOCATED LAST FALL TO WASHINGTON STATE. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT A RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR THIS FAILURE DOES NOT CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. BRAKE FAILURE IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND WAS SLOWING DUE TO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME THAT WERE TURNING. AS I STARTED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF PRESSURE IN THE PEDAL. IN ORDER TO GET STOPPED I HAD TO DEPRESS THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. UPON STOPPING IN A SAFE LOCATION TO INSPECT WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO THE BRAKES, IT WAS FOUND THAT ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES HAD BURST DUE TO CORROSION.

THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE FRAME WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. MA 10/1
BRAKE LINES CORRODED THRU CAUSING ACUTE BRAKE FAILURE. ALMOST CAUSED BAD WRECK. AFTER RESEARCHING THE HUGE NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND GMS UNWILLINGNESS TO CORRECT I WILL BE SURE TO NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GM VEHICLE EVER. *TR
I JUST GOT HOME AFTER DRIVING 100 MILES ON THE PARKWAY, AND I WAS JUST GETTING READY TO PICK UP MY FIANC KIDS FROM SCHOOL WHEN I STARTED MY TRUCK AND APPLIED THE SERVICE BRAKE TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE AND THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK AND SAW BRAKE FLUID LEAKING BEHIND THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL. I CRAWLED UNDER TO TAKE A LOOK AND THE LEAK APPEARED TO BE WHERE THE PLASTIC BRACKET WAS HOLDING THE BRAKE LINES TO THE FRAME. THE BRAKE LINES APPEAR TO BE SEVERELY RUSTED AND BRITTLE AND JUST BY TOUCHING THEM THE RUST FLAKES OFF. THANK GOD THIS HAPPENED AT HOME AND NO ONE GOT HURT OR KILLED. I LIVE ON A MOUNTAIN AND THE ROAD DOWN IT IS A 25% INCLINE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMETHING FATAL OR SERIOUS HAPPENS. IF YOU HAVE A BRAKE PROBLEM SIMILAR TO THIS PLEASE FILE A COMPLAINT SO THIS GETS RECALLED. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY SO MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. I PURCHASED MY 2005 CHEVROLET 2500HD DURAMAX IN MAY OF 2015. A WEEK LATER I WAS PULLED OVER FOR SPEEDING 10 OVER. MY TRUCK SHOWED I WAS DRIVING 55 MPH. I NOW HAVE A SPEEDING TICKET $114. I CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY SAID MY VIN# WAS NOT QUALIFIED FOR THE RECALL AND I WOULD BE PAYING OUT OF POCKET ($535 INCLUDING LABOR). THE PART ALONE IS $350. NOW AT THE END OF THE DAY I WILL OWE $649 BECAUSE OF GM'S MISTAKE. I LOVE GM'S PRODUCTS, HOWEVER THEY DO NOT STAND UP TO THERE MISTAKES WHICH WILL MAKE ME THINK AGAIN BEFORE BUYING ONE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS PULLED OVER FOR SPEEDING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GAUGE REGISTERED AT 55; HOWEVER, THE POLICE STATED THAT HE WAS CLOCKED AT 65 MPH. THE CONTACT THEN USED THE GPS TO TRACK THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS OFF BY 10 MPH. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER SET ON LEVEL FIVE, THE BLOWER INTERMITTENTLY CLICKED OFF AND ON. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT A BURNING SMELL EMITTED THROUGH THE VENTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS UNTIL LEVEL FIVE AND FOUR SETTINGS NO LONGER WORKED. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE CONNECTOR SW/POWER ST ADJUSTER AND DISCOVERED THAT THE WIRES WERE MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CONNECTOR AND RESISTOR FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER AND HEATER AND THE RESISTOR FOR THE HEATER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
FRAME IS ROTTED,WONT PASS INSPECTION,BRAKE LINES ARE ALSO ROTTED HAD TO REPLACE TWICE. *TR
A CAR WITH NO LIGHTS (AT NIGHT) CAME UP AND THE DRIVER OF THE 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 HAD TO HIT THE GAS PEDAL TO SPEED UP TO GET OUT OF HIS WAY. THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL AND HIT THE DITCH. THE FRONT END WAS DAMAGED, AND THE CAB IS NOW SITTING INCORRECTLY ON THE TRUCK. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY.
BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR NO PRESSURE. LOST ALL PRESSURE DURING SNOWSTORM. LUCKY TO PULL OVER INTO DRIFTED SNOW TO PREVENT CRASH. 61000 MILES AND WELL MAINTAINED. MARYLAND AREA. UPON INSPECTION ALL BRAKE SUPPLY LINES ARE RUSTED AND BLOWN OUT. VERY DIFFICULT TO REPAIR ONESELF. VERY COSTLY REPAIR AT DEALERSHIP. THIS SHOULD BE A SFETY RECALL. RIDICULOUS!

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.

THE BRAKE LINES ARE VERY RUSTED AND I AM VERY CONCERNED THIS CAN LEAD TO A SERIOUS INJURY FOR MYSELF OR OTHERS. I KNOW OF MANY OTHER OWNERS OF SIMILAR MODEL TRUCKS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY REAL SAFETY THREAT AND GM SHOULD REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY AS THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT. *TR
ON 1/8/2015 AT ABOUT 5MPH MY BRAKES FAILED. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A CAR MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE BRAKE LINES .I HAD THE BRAKE PAD AND ROTOR, DRUMS AND SHOES REPLACED. THE COST WAS 1200 DOLLARS. *TR
LIGHT COMES ON WHICH READS "CHECK PASSENGER AIR BAG". THIS LIGHT COMES ON WHEN VEHICLE IS STARTED AND THEN REMAINS ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF. VARIOUS DEALERSHIPS AND VEHICLE REPAIR SHOPS HAVE INDICATED THAT PARTS FOR THE AIR BAGS ARE FAULTY AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THESE SAME REPAIR LOCATIONS HAVE INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT ACTIVATE IN CASE OF A ACCIDENT.
I BOUGHT MY TRUCK, 2005 SILVERADO Z71 FROM A USED CAR DEALER IN DECEMBER 2014. I LOVE THE TRUCK. I LIVE IN MAINE. WE HAVE STATE INSPECTION LAWS THAT ARE ENFORCED BY THE POLICE. WHEN THE INSPECTION STICKER RAN OUT IN JANUARY 2015, I WAS UNABLE TO GET A NEW ONE, DUE TO THE FRAME IS BADLY RUSTED. I CALLED THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM AND HE BASICALLY TOLD ME TO GET BENT AND THAT IT WASN'T HIS PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH HE ASSURED ME I WOULD HAVE NO TROUBLE GETTING AN INSPECTION STICKER WHEN THE TIME CAME, AT THE TIME OF THE SALE (I COULD ONLY ASSUME HE WAS RIGHT, BECAUSE THE TRUCK LOOKS PERFECT). I UNDERSTAND THAT HE IS JUST TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING, LIKE THE REST OF US, AND DO NOT HOLD IT AGAINST HIM. I DO NOT, HOWEVER, UNDERSTAND HOW GM CAN GET AWAY WITH MAKING VEHICLES THAT CANNOT LAST 10 YEARS. THE TRUCK IS PERFECT, INSIDE AND OUT, IT RUNS GREAT, YET YOU CAN TAKE PIECES OF THE FRAME OFF WITH YOUR BARE HANDS. I NOW HAVE A $260/MONTH PAYMENT FOR THE NEXT 3 1/2 YEARS THAT I AM STUCK WITH. I CANNOT SELL THE TRUCK FOR NEARLY WHAT I BOUGHT IT FOR 8 MONTHS AGO. I WENT AHEAD AND CALLED THE CORPORATE OFFICE OF CHEVROLET YESTERDAY, AND AFTER 3 SEPARATE CALLS, I WAS PUT IN CONTACT WITH A HIGHER-UP AND HE TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE TO HELP ME, AS THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. HE ALSO SAID THIS IS THE FIRST COMPLAINT HE HAS HEARD, "I MEAN, COME ON, THIS IS A 10 YEAR OLD TRUCK". DOUBT IT. ANYWAYS, THIS A DEFINITE SAFETY CONCERN, AS I DON'T THINK MY TRUCK WOULD FARE TOO WELL IN A COLLISION. I WILL NOT LET MY 6 Y/O DAUGHTER RIDE IN IT. I WOULD ALSO JUST LIKE TO SAY THAT DUE THE AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE FRAME OF MY TRUCK, IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL YEARS, AND I ONLY WISH SOMEONE HAD POINTED THIS OUT SOONER, AND MAYBE THEN IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY, THOUGH I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IT AFTER SPEAKING WITH DONALD YESTERDAY.
WHILE SLOWING DOWN AND LETTING OFF THE GAS WHILE MAKING A TURN THE TRUCK STARTED SPEEDING BACK UP, BRAKING DID STOP THE TRUCK AND NO REVVING OCCURRED. AFTER BREAKING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND LETTING OF THE GAS THE TRUCK WOULD START MOVING FORWARD AS IF THE GAS IS BEING APPLIED-SPEEDING UP GRADUALLY. PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE AND SAME THING HAPPENED. TURNED TRUCK OFF AND BACK ON THE PROBLEM DID NOT PERSIST. *TR

THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DECELERATE AND THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E036000 (SERVICE BRAKE, AIR). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE TRUCK WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. DRIVEN 20 MINUTES PRIOR FOR 10 MILES. ERUPTED INTO FLA MESSAGE UNDER HOOD. FIRE POLICE UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE TO BADLY DAMAGED. TOTAL LOSS. *TR
WHILE COMING TO A STOP, VEHICLE KEEPS GOING. ROLLS ABOUT 5 FEET FARTHER THAN EXPECTED. SEEMS THE BRAKES JUST QUIT BEFORE IT FINALLY STOPS. ABS? *TR
BACKING-UP INTO MY GARAGE IN REVERSE MODE, PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR. *TR
TRAVELING THROUGH INTERSECTION AND MAKING LEFT HAND TURN TO GO IN EAST DIRECTION. MY VEHICLE'S BRAKES CATASTROPHICALLY FAILED. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT ALL(!) THE BRAKES LINES WERE RUSTED THROUGH AND THAT MY BRAKE FLUID LEAKED OUT. AND NOW ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. NOT ONE, NOT TWO - ALL! THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT AND NO INDICATION OF ANY PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THE ONLY THING WORSE THAN A GM PRODUCT WITH A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH WOULD SEEM TO BE A GM TRUCK THAT CAN'T STOP!
NOTICED A NEED TO TOP OFF BRAKE RESERVOIR DUE TO DASH WARNING LIGHT. BRAKE LINES FAILING DUE TO CORROSION, FORTUNATELY NO ACCIDENT HAS BEEN THE RESULT SO FAR. *TR
THE AIR BAG WARNING CAME ON DISABLING DRIVERS AIR BAG. AFTER CHECKING THIS OUT I FOUND THIS WAS A REAL COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS AGE SILVERADOS. PROBLEM IS A SENSOR THAT COST 400$ TO REPAIR AT DEALER. IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM SHOULDN'T GM FIX THE DEFECT AT THEIR COST? HOW MANY OWNERS OF THIS AGE TRUCK OPT NOT TO HAVE THIS DEFECT FIXED DUE TO COST? MY TRUCK IS WELL MAINTAINED , AT APPROX 40,300 MILES, MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I DROVE FOR A SHORT TIME KNOWING THAT MY AIR BAGS WERE DISABLED. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,737.
AS I WAS LEAVING MY HOME THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES IN MY DRIVEWAY. AFTER CHECKING I DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE LINE HAD BURST DUE TO CORROSION. I HAD A HARD TIME TRYING TO UNDERSTAND HOW THERE COULD BE A COMPLETE LOSS AS ALL VEHICLES NOW HAVE A DUAL LINE MASTER CYLINDER. I THEN REMEMBERED I HAD SEEN A OILY SPILL AND TRAIL UP THE SHARED GRAVEL DRIVE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. APPARENTLY I HAD LOST HALF THE BRAKE SYSTEM MONTHS AGO. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT OR DIFFERENT FEEL TO THE BRAKES DURING THIS TIME. I MANAGED TO GET THE TRUCK IN THE GARAGE AND WHILE CHECKING WHAT WAS NEEDED FOR REPAIR I DISCOVERED THAT EVERY SINGLE BRAKE LINE ON THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE ANOTHER CHEVROLET PICKUP THAT I BOUGHT NEW IN 1989 AND THE BRAKE LINES ARE IN BETTER SHAPE THAN THE 2005'S. *TR
WHEN I GOT IN THE TRUCK TO GO TO WORK, AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ALONG WITH THE DIC NOTIFICATION WHERE ON. WITH A OSB II READER, GOT A CODE OR "B0104 FRONT RIGHT SENOR REPLACE". REPLACED THE SENOR AT OWNERS EXPENSE. WITH NEW PART INSTALLED THE WARNING LIGHT AND DIC MESSAGE CLEARED. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BRAKE LINES, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE BRAKE LINES FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT BRAKE LINES AND THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
PUT MY FOOT ON BRAKE TO PUT VEHICLE IN GEAR AND PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO FLOOR. THE BRAKE LINE BURST. IF I GOT OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND HEADED DOWN THE HILL TO THE STOP SIGN AND THE BRAKES FAILED, I WOULD FIND MYSELF IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC DOING 40MPH+ DURING RUSH HOUR. THERE WAS NO WARNING, AND NO BRAKES AT ALL!!! THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 51,000 MILES AND IS ALWAYS GARAGED, WASHED AND VERY WELL MAINTAINED. I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT IF THE BRAKES FAILED ON THE ROAD INSTEAD OF IN THE DRIVEWAY, I WOULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. YOU NEED TO DO SOMETHING BEFORE MULTIPLE DEATHS AND/OR INJURIES. AT LEAST A LETTER TO OWNERS TO INSPECT THE BRAKE LINES. *TR
FOR NO APPARENT REASON, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHTS ON VEHICLE CAME ON WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR AND REPAIR SHOP SAID THE FRONT SENSORS FOR NO APPARENT REASON HAD GONE DEFECTIVE DISABLING THE AIR BAGS ON VEHICLE. SENSORS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND I WAS TOLD PARTS WERE ONLY AVAILABLE FROM A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. AFTER REPAIR I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS OF CHEVROLET VEHICLES HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. I AM CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY ISSUE OF DISABLED AIR BAGS WHEN THIS PART GOES DEFECTIVE FOR NO REASON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD ERRONEOUSLY INCREASE TO 75 MPH. ONCE THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD INCREASE TO AND REMAIN AT 100 MPH UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,300.

WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT I NOTICED THAT I HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO KEEP THE TRUCK FROM ROLLING FORWARD. WHEN I GOT TO A FRIENDS HOUSE I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS FLUID LEAKING FROM SOME RUSTED BRAKE LINES LOCATED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE TRUCK. AS I PRESSED THE BRAKES FLUID WAS RUNNING OUT AT AN ACCELERATED PACE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO RUSTING. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT RUSTED BRAKE LINES ON FULL SIZE GM TRUCKS. I CONTACTED GM BUT THEY SAID THAT THIS IS NO RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE AND THE REPAIR IS GOING TO COST ME NEARLY $1800. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK BRAND NEW IN 2005 AND ITS A LITTLE DISTURBING THAT SOMETHING LIKE THAT WOULD FAIL THAT WAY WHERE ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED ONLY AFTER 9.5 YEARS. IF THEY WOULD HAVE BROKE SUDDENLY THEY COULD HAVE CAUSE ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE FACT THAT I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP. *TR

HAD TO STOP QUICKLY ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY PULLING A EQUIPMENT TRAILER TO GET SOMETHING THAT FELL OFF. WHILE IN THE PROCESS OF PULLING OVER TO STOP ON THE SHOULDER MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, MY TRAILER BRAKES HELPED TO SLOW TO A STOP SAFELY ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY.UPON FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE BRAKE LINES FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ALONG THE FRAME FROM THE ANGLE TO THE FLAT PART OF THE FRAME UNDER THE DRIVERS AREA THE LINES LOOKED VERY RUSTY FROM THE ELEMENTS FROM THE SEASONS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM THE BEACH AT THE END OF LABOR DAY WEEKEND I WAS COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP TO TURN ON TO RT 404, MY VEHICLE WAS THEN STRUCK IN THE REAR, I SAW IT COMING SO I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE AS TO NOT HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. AFTER THE ACCIDENT I NOTICED BRAKE FLUID RUNNING OUT UNDER ENGINE AREA. AND HAD NO BRAKES, VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SHOP AND I WAS INFORMED THAT STEEL BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED THROUGH. THIS WAS NOT A RESULT OF ACCIDENT JUST ADDITIONAL PRESSURE ON BRAKE, HAVING 2 OF MY 4 GRANDKIDS WITH ME IM GLAD IT HAPPEDED WHILE STOPPED AND NOT GOING 60 MPH ACROSS THE BAY BRIDGE, GM SHOULD RECALL ALL VEHICLES WITH THE SAME TYPE OF BRAKELINE ISSUE'S OR AGREE TO PAY FOR THE LINES THAT DO RUST THROUGH
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO COME TO A STOP. THE BRAKES BEGAN TO SLOW THE TRUCK THEN THE PEDAL WENT CLEAR TO THE FLOOR AND ALL BRAKING ACTION WAS LOST. THIS CAUSED ME TO STRIKE THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. AFTERWARDS I OBSERVED BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING FROM THE LINES FORWARD OF THE REAR AXLE AND NEAR THE FIREWALL AREA. I WAS VERY LUCKY TO ESCAPE INJURY TO MYSELF AND THE OTHER DRIVER THAT I STRUCK. MY TRUCK SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ESTIMATES FOR REPAIRS YET. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING THE "SERVICE AIR BAG" WARNING APPEARED IN THE INFORMATION CENTER OF THE DASH AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT STARTED TO BLINK. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE WARNING LIGHT. I RE-SET THE INFORMATION CENTER AND THE WARNING REAPPEARED. VERY DISAPPOINTING AS THERE ARE ONLY 64,537 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I CHECKED ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR MY VEHICLE, AS THE MILES ARE VERY LOW ON MY VEHICLE. OF COURSE THERE WAS NONE FOR MY VEHICLE. IT APPEARS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM VEHICLES AND AN EXTRA EXPENSE TO THE OWNERS. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED AT THIS POINT. I COULD NOT LOCATE ANY RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE VIN, BUT THERE WERE OTHER RECALLS INVOLVING THE AIR BAGS WITH OTHER GM VEHICLES. I'M LOST FOR WORDS. *TR
