FUZION TIRES SIZE 265/70R/17 BOTH BACK TIRES WITH ONLY 5,000 MILES DEVELOPED A BULGE ON THE TREAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 8 MPH, THE CONTACT "FELT A CRUNCH" ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL. IMMEDIATELY, THE WHEEL SLUMPED AND THE CHROME WHEEL COVER FELL OUT. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE FRACTURED WHEEL WAS RUSTED OUT. WITH SOME HELP, THE CONTACT MOUNTED A SPARE WHEEL, DROVE HOME, AND THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE WHEEL FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AT COST. THE CONTACT REFUSED AND DROVE HOME. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE WHEEL WAS NOT REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000. ...UPDATED 08/15/16 *BF CONSUMER STATED IT IS MY ASSESSMENT THAT THE ATTACHED WHEEL COVER TRAPS WATER BETWEEN THE COVER AND THE WHEEL, ALLOWING EXTENSIVE RUST TO OCCUR OVER TIME. THESE CHROME COVERS ARE FACTORY INSTALLED. UPDATED 06/11/18*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT END SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,347.
RUST RUST RUST. FRAME IS SO BAD TRUCK WILL NOT PASS NYS SAFETY INSPECTION NEXT YEAR. I HAVE TO SELL IT FOR SCRAP/SALVAGE AS GM WON'T OFFER ANYTHING BUT A "POSSIBLE" CREDIT IF I BUY A NEW CHEVY TRUCK. NO WAY I'LL DO THAT:(. TRUCK ONLY HAS 25,500 MILES AS IT IS A SECOND VEHICLE. IT WAS NEVER USED OFF ROAD OR FOR SNOW PLOWING. JUST RUSTED AWAY SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY.
BRAKE LINES RUSTED OUT PREMATURELY AND BURST, CAUSING LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY. HAD TO REPLACE EVERY BRAKE LINE ON THE ENTIRE TRUCK, FOR THEY WERE ALL EXTREMELY RUSTY. 2 MONTHS LATER MY FUEL LINE ALSO SPRUNG A LEAK DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST, CAUSING FUEL TO SPILL, CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, AND HARD STARTING. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES PRESENT MAJOR SAFETY CONCERNS, AND UNFORTUNATELY ARE EXTREMELY COMMON WITH THESE TRUCKS.
BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHEN APPLIED. THE PICKUP HAS ABOUT 62000 MILES ON IT IS WELL MAINTAINED. LOCATED IN VIRGINIA AND DURING THE WINTER I TAKE THE PICKUP TO THE CARWASH SEVERAL TIME PURPOSELY TO HAVE THE UNDERCARRIAGE WASHED. WHEN MY MECHANIC CHECKED IT OUT HIS RESPONSE WAS "I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. THE BRAKE AND FUEL LINES ARE PAPER THIN FROM RUST. I AM FORTUNATE IN NO ONE WAS HURT WHEN THIS HAPPENED AS I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE A COUNTRY ROAD ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR.

THE FAILURE OCCURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE HYDRO-BOOST UNIT WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V043000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN BABIED, ONLY HAVING LESS THAN 45,000 MILES. HAS NEVER BEEN OFF BLACKTOP, AND KEEP IN GARAGE. WHILE TOWING MY BOAT MY BREAKS WENT OUT, COME TO FIND OUT MY BREAK LINE WAS RUSTED INTO AND MY MASTER CYLINDER WAS ALSO RUSTED WHERE THE BREAK LINES CONNECT. I WAS TOLD BY CHEV DEALER THAT ALL FOUR BREAK LINES AND MASTER CYLINDER WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. $1,400.00, THIS SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A TRUCK WITH LESS THAN 45,000 MILES THAT WAS NOT DRIVEN IN THE RAIN FOR THE FIRST TWO YEARS AND NEVER BEEN DRIVEN ON SALT TREATED ROAD. I HAVE ANOTHER 4 WHEEL DRIVE TRUCK THAT I DRIVE IN BAD WEATHER. THIS IS THE ONLY NEW VEHICLE I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN BREAK SERVICE AND CHEVY WELLNESS TO ADMIT THERE I IS A DEFECT WITH THE BREAK SYSTEM.

I HAVE A 2005 CHEVROLET 2500 HD WITH 57000 MILES AND THE BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED INTO. I WAS GETTING READY TO HOOK MY TRAILER UP AND WAS BACKING AND HIT THE BRAKES AND THEY WENT TO THE FLOOR. IT WAS POURING FLUID OUT UNDER THE DOOR WHERE THE BRAKE LINE WAS RUSTED INTO. THIS TRUCK HAS NOT SEEN THAT MUCH SALT TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN. I HEAR THAT GM DOES NOT WHAT TO RECALL BECAUSE THEY SAY IT IS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE I BEG TO DIFFER. I HAVE A 1971 CHEVY PICKUP THAT HAS SEEN YEARS OF SALT AND WATER AND NONE HAVE EVER RUSTED LIKE THIS 2005 HAS. I GUESS THEY ARE WAITING TO SEE HOW MANY WILL DIE BEFORE THERE IS A PROBEM.

THE VEHICLES BRAKES ARE CORRODING AND FAILED ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT ON 2/09/2016 WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION (AT THE INTERSECTION OF IL ROUTE 34 AND WOLFS CROSSING)
THIS VEHICLE IS 4WD. WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE ELECTRIC SHIFT TRANSFER CASE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT WARNING.
INTERMITTENT LOSS OF 1ST GEAR/TRUCK STARTS IN 2 OR 3RD GEAR/INTERMITTENT TROUBLE CODES P0758 AND P0740 THEN CODES CLEAR/EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN MOVING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A STOP/ DON'T KNOW WHEN TRUCK WILL STALL OR FAIL TO PICK UP SPEED/TRANSMISSION SHOPS SAY CAN'T HELP UNTIL CODES ARE SET/EMAILED CHEVROLET REGARDING PROBLEM/ VEHICLE HAS 45000 MILES AND IS NOT DUE FOR SERVICE ON THE TRANSMISSION UNTIL 50000 MILES/TRUCKS TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT START FAILING AT ONLY 45000 MILES/ CHEVY'S RESPONSE IS VEHICLE PAST WARRANTY PERIOD NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS
THE SPEEDOMETER IS VERY ERRATIC SOMETIMES SHOWING A FASTER SPEED THAN TRAVELED SOMETIMES A SLOWER SPEED OR NO SPEED AT ALL THE ODOMETER HAS SINCE QUIT WORKING AND DISPLAYS ODOMETER ERROR WHERE THE MILEAGE SHOULD READ. AND NOW THE ENGINE WATER TEMP GAUGE IS DEAD POINTING STRAIGHT DOWN WHERE THERE ARE NO NUMBERS AND NEVER MOVES. DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW SAYS THEY HAVE REPAIRED QUITE A FEW OF THESE AND WILL COST AROUND $350. TO SEND IT OUT TO BE REPAIRED BY A QUALIFIED REPAIR PLACE. I THINK G M SHOULD STAND BEHIND SUCH A PROBLEM AND RECALL THESE TRUCKS TO FIX THEM.
WHILE TRAVLING AT 3 MPH IN A CAMPGROUND AND TOWING A #7000 CAMPING TRAILER. I HIT MY BRAKES AND THE PEDDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR. IT TOOK SOME DISTANCE TO STOP. I GOT OUT AND FOUND THAT ONE OF MY BREAK LINES HAD A LEAK. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION . ALL THE BRAKES LINES HAVE HEAVY AND SEVERE RUST CAUSING THE BRAKE LINE WEAKEN AND THE BRAKES TO FAIL. ONLY BY THE GRACE OF GOD I WAS TRAVILNG AT 3 MPH AND STILL HAD NOT REACHED THE MAIN WINDING COUNTRY ROAD WHERE I WOULD OF WRECKED AND POSSIBLE DEATH OF ME OR OTHERS. . THE TOTAL WEIGHT OF TRUCK AND TRAILER WAS #14500 POUNDS.
BREAK LINES CORRODED THROUGH TO FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED JUST AFTER EXITING A HIGHWAY. ABS ENGAGED DUE TO ICY CONDITIONS THE NEXT TIME I DEPRESSED THE BREAK PEDDLE IT WENT TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT THE BREAKS ENGAGING. TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE NO WARNING LIGHT WAS PRESENT ON THE DASHBOARD. THE BREAKS FAILED WHILE DRIVING AND RESULTED IN ME RUNNING A RED LIGHT. LUCKILY IT WAS EARLY IN THE MORNING AND NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED.
SITTING AT BURGER KING DRIVE THRU WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. BRAKE LINES HAD RUPTURED DUE TO CORROSION. VEHICLE ONLY 10 YEARS OLD AND 130,000 MILES. HAD BRAKES CHECKED OFTEN AT SERVICE CENTERS, NO MENTION OF PROBLEM. GLAD THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN LAST MONTH WHEN I WAS BARRELING DOWN THE TENNESSEE HIGHWAY WITH A FULL LOAD IN THE BACK OF MY TRUCK. NHTSA AND GM SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR ALLOWING THIS TO CONTINUE. I AM SURE PEOPLE ARE DYING DUE TO THIS NEGLIGENCE AND FAULTY MATERIALS BEING USED.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,708.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH THEN .THE CRUISE CONTROL QUIT WORKING WHILE IT WAS IN GAUGED MY SPEED DROPPED WITH A BIG TRUCK BEHIND ME AND I ALMOST GOT HIT IN THE REAR BY A BIG TRUCK. THIS IS NOT GOOD.
RUSTING BRAKE LINES IN HARD TO REACH AREAS OF THE VEHICLE THAT NORMAL WASHING DOESN'T CLEAN. I WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR TRAFFIC GETTING OF THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I USED THE E-BRAKE TO GET HOME AND WHEN I ARRIVED HOME I CRAWLED UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK AND FOUND WHERE THE HARD LINE GOES TO THE FLEX LINE OVER THE REAR END IT HAD SPLIT. I REPAIRED THAT AND NOW RIGHT NEXT TO THE GAS TANK IN SPLIT AGAIN 3 WEEKS LATER PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY AT MY HOME.
SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKING POWER DUE TO BRAKE LINE RUPTURE WHILE ON THE EXIT RAMP OF THE FREEWAY. FOUND BRAKE LINES COMPLETELY RUSTED AND THEY WERE PAPER THIN IN MULTIPLE SPOTS. WILL HAVE TO REPLACE ALL BRAKE LINES ON THE VEHICLE. ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. NOTE THAT VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN MAINTAINED BY DEALERSHIP.
THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR WHEN OUR FRIEND TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. A BRAKE LINE RUNNING ON TOP OF THE FRAME BEHIND THE RADIATOR HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED THRU, ALLOWING ALL OF THE BRAKE FLUID TO PUMP OUT OF THE SYSTEM. ALL OF THE STEEL BRAKE LINES ARE EXTREMELY RUSTY AND PROBABLY NEAR FAILURE.
THE STEEL FUEL LINES AND STEEL BRAKE LINES ARE CORRODING AND LEAKING. ON OCTOBER 8TH 2015 MY TRUCK BEGAIN TO LEAK DIESEL FUEL FROM THE RUSTED FUEL LINES. WHILE FIXING THE FUEL LEAK THE TECHNICIAN ALSO NOTICES THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE ALSO STARTING TO RUST AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACES SOON BEFORE THEY FAIL.
PEDAL GOES ON DOWN WHEN PRESSED -- SEEMS LIKE ABS ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 EQUIPPED WITH BF GOODRICH ALL TERRAIN TAK02 TIRES, SIZE: LT265/75/R16. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE ROLLED AWAY AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WERE TREAD MARKS ON THE DRIVEWAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE NEW REPLACEMENT TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO WHERE THE TIRES WERE PURCHASED WHERE THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS REDUCED. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON ONE OTHER OCCASION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON A DAMP ROAD, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SWAY BACK AND FORTH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE UNKNOWN LOCATION WHERE THE TIRES WERE REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25. THE DOT NUMBER WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE HEATER BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR MELTED AND THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW CAUSES SMOKE AND YOU LOOSE THE HEATER FUNCTION. NOT SURE IF IT COULD GET HOT ENGOUGH TO START A FIRE.
MY 2005 SILVERADO THAT I BOUGHT BRAND NEW WAS BROUGHT IN FOR BODY WORK ON THE BED ON THE TRUCK. WHEN THE BODY SHOP REMOVED THE BED TO DO THE BODY WORK REPAIRS THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE FRAME, FRAME CROSS MEMBERS, LEAF SPRING SHACKLES, BRAKE LINES, SHOCK MOUNTS ARE RUSTED AND ROTTED THROUGH. NO UNDER COATING LEFT ANYWHERE ON MY FRAME OR UNDER MY GM SILVERADO. THE VEHICLE IS NOW DEEMED UNSAFE FOR THE ROAD AND GENERAL MOTORS KNOWING THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE HAS SAID THEY CAN NOT HELP ME AND HAS NOT ASSISTED WITH REPAIRING THE TRUCKS FRAME AT THIS POINT.I AM STILL WORKING WITH GENERAL MOTORS TO ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE THAT GM DOES NOT WANT TO ADDRESS EASILY FOR US CONSUMERS. LONGEST LASTING TRUCKS ON THE ROAD IS THERE SLOGAN MY LASTED 8 YEARS. GUESS SILVER-ROT-O'S ARE DISPOSABLE TRUCKS AFTER 8 YEARS. GENERAL MOTORS WILL NEED TO STEP UP AND RESOLVE MY ISSUE OR I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NEW GM PRODUCT EVER AGAIN. PLAN TO BRING THE TRUCK TO LOCAL DEALERS TO SHOW THEM THE DAMAGE WHILE THE BED IS OFF THE TRUCK. BOTTOM LINE IS THIS.... MY GM TRUCK IS UNSAFE FOR THE ROAD, GM NEEDS TO FIX MY TRUCK TO KEEP THIS LOYAL GM OWNER SATISFIED WITH THERE PRODUCT LINE. MIND YOU I OWN 5 GM VEHICLES MY WIFE'S GRANDFATHER SOLD PONTIAC'S FOR 50+ YEARS. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO STAND BY YOUR PRODUCT GM AND THE EASIEST WAY TO LOSE A LIFE LONE LOYAL GM CUSTOMER. TOYOTA IS STANDING BY THERE TRUCKS BY FIXING FRAME ROT ISSUES FOR THEIR CONSUMERS YOU SHOULD TOO. MINE WAS BUILT IN CANADA JUST AS A SIDE NOTE. FIX MY 2006 SILVERADO TRUCK GM. STAND BY YOUR WORD AND HORROR YOUR SLOGAN AND MAKE MY SILVERADO THE LONGEST LAST TRUCK ON THE ROAD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER AND THE BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000. THIS MORNING ON THE WAY TO WORK I APPROACHED A T INTERSECTION TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE LIGHT CHANGED FROM GREEN TO YELLOW AS I APPROACHED IT. I PRESSED AND THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR, "NO BRAKES". THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED RED AND I HAD TO TRY TO MANEUVER THROUGH THE CORNER AT TO MUCH SPEED, ALMOST ROLLING THE TRUCK. ONCE I SLOWED TO A STOP. I INSPECTED THE TRUCK, AND SURE ENOUGH THERE IS A PUDDLE UNDER THE DRIVERSIDE DOOR WHERE ALL THE RUSTED BRAKE LINES RUN ALONG THE OUTSIDE OF THE FRAME RAIL. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR GM TO NOT HONOR THEIR VEHICLES OR RESPECT THE BUYERS OF THOSE VEHICLES ENOUGH TO PUT STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE LINES ON THEM. HOW DOES GM EXPECT TO GET PEOPLE TO BUY GM PRODUCTS WHEN WE ARE KILLED IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF RUSTED,RUPTURED BRAKE LINES. I EXPECT THE LOCAL STEALERSHIP TO QUOTE ME SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX THE MANUFACTURERS ERROR. I TELL YOU ONE THING I HAVE PRAISED GM ABOUT MY TRUCK, BUT IF THIS DOESNT GET RECALLED OR FIXED I WONT BUY ANOTHER GM PRODUCT AGAIN.
FRONT TO REAR 5 CAR COLLISION, CAUSING ME TO HIT A VEHICLE AND THEN A HIGH CURB AND DRAINAGE GRATE, FRONT DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK IS SEVERE AND MY TRUCK WILL REQUIRE OVER $8,000, MY INSURANCE COMPANY WILL PROBABLY CALL THE TRUCK A TOTAL LOSS...MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
WHILE DRIVING, I HIT THE BRAKES AND THE PEDDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR. NARROWLY MISSING 2 CARS IN FRONT OF ME. UPON REVIEW AFTER TOWING HOME, ALL 4 FRONT BRAKE LINES HAVE CONSIDERABLE "FLAKING CORROSION", WITH ONE BLOWN LINE AND ONE LINE SEEPING. I USED THE E-BRAKE TO GET OFF THE ROAD AS IT HAD ABSOLUTELY NO BRAKES WHATSOEVER. REAR BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED AS WELL. GOT AHOLD OF GM DEALER AND WAS QUOTED $1100 TIME AND MATERIAL TO "FIX". I CHOSE TO FIX MYSELF WITH STAINLESS STEEL LINE. THIS IS THE LAST GM PRODUCT I WILL EVER OWN.
THESE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS THE BRAKES ARE SHAKING WHEN I GO TO STOP. I HAVE C HANGED THE FRONT CALIPERS SINCE THIS IS WHERE IT IS HAPPENING SINCE THE CALIPERS WENT BAD SO DID THE ROTERS AN PADS SO THOSE NEEDED TO BE CHANGED ALSO...WHICH IS MONEY I DON'T HAVE .....IT WORKED FOR A TOTAL OF 4 DAYS THEN PROBLEM BEGAN AGAIN. PLEASE INFORM ME OF OTHER ISSUES AND WHAT CAN BE DONE TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM ESPECIALLY SINCE I DRIVE THIS TRUCK TO EARN A LIVING FOR MY FAMILY EVERYDAY.. TRAVELING DOWN A HILL WHEN A DRIVER IN FRONT OF ME DECIDED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN RATHER ABRUPTLY, CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO MAKE A PANIC STOP. I PRESSED THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SLOW, AND THEN NOTHING. (BRAKE LINE BURST-ED, WHICH I HAD BEEN TOLD LOOK RUSTED DURING LAST INSPECTION.) I BLEW THE HORN AND SWERVED TO LEFT LANE AND WENT AROUND THAT PERSON AND THEN DOWN THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD AVOIDING SEVERAL PEOPLE COMING THE OTHER DIRECTION. I MANAGE TO EVENTUALLY GET THE TRUCK STOPPED BY CONSTANTLY PUMPING THE BREAK AFTER HAVING MY LIFE FLASH IN FRONT OF MY EYES FROM NARROWLY AVOIDING MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS.
THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYS ON THE MILAGE WAS ABOUT 65000 MILES ITS LOOKS TO ME LIKE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS TRUCK IT IS A 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 LS, YOU WOULD THINK CHEVROLET WOULD FIX THIS PROBLEM.
VEHICLE WAS SOLD WHICH WAS BELIEVED TO BE AN ILLEGAL CALIFORNIA SAFETY INSPECTIONS HAD FOR THREE MONTHS DRIVESHAFT FLEW OFF OF VEHICLE A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING DEALER SHIP FIX BUT BUT A DRIVESHAFT THAT WAS TO SHORT FOR THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS THE REASON FOR THE INCIDENT SECOND INCIDENT CAUSE COLLISION INTO BRICK WALL BECAUSE VEHICLE LOST STEERING BELIEVED TO BE CAUSE BY SAFETY ISSUES DEALERSHIP RETIRED TO PASS OFF AS AN "AS IS " VEHICLE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY
IT WAS EARLY IN THE MORNING , MY BROTHER AND I WERE BACKING UP THE TRUCK TO ATTACH THE BOAT FOR TOWING. HE WAS BACKING UP MY TRUCK WHILE I GUIDED HIM BACK TOWARDS THE HITCH OF THE BOAT. WE GOT THE BOAT HITCH ATTACHED TO THE TRUCK AND I ASKED HIM IF HE WANTED TO DRIVE . THANK GOD HE REFUSED TO DRIVE, ONCE I GOT IN THE TRUCK , I APPLIED MY BRAKES BEFORE PUTTING THE TRUCK IN DRIVE AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDDLE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND WITHOUT ANY RESISTANCE. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH MY TRUCK AND NOTICED BRAKE FLUID LEAKING OUT FROM A RUSTED BRAKE LINE GOING TO THE REAR TIRE . I WOULD HATE TO THINK OF WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WITH A BOAT BEHIND ME????? I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE RUSTED BRAKE LINE THAT BROKE . I ALSO HAVE SEEN SOME RUST ON THE REMAINING BRAKE LINES NOW AND AM WORRIED ABOUT THE THE CONDITION OF THOSE LINES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AS A RESULT THE PRESSURE OF THE BRAKE FLUID CAUSED THE LINES TO FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

BRAKES GOT PROGRESSIVELY "SOFT" ON THE WAY HOME, UNTIL EVENTUALLY THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. MADE HOME BY GOING SLOW AND DOWNSHIFTING TO DECELERATE WITHOUT USING THE BRAKES. PROBLEM DIAGNOSED TO BE THE MASTER CYLINDER.
ANOTHER DRIVER NOTIFIED US THAT OUR BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. WE STOPPED TO CHECK THE SITUATION AND MY WIFE APPLIED THE BRAKES AS I CHECKED THE LIGHTS, WHICH WERE NOT WORKING. I THEN MOVED THE TRUCK ABOUT 50 YARDS AND AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. WHEN I GOT OUT THERE WAS A PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID ON THE GROUND. THE BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED OUT AND WHEN I APPLIED PRESSURE TO STOP, IT GAVE OUT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A NEARBY DEALER AND THEY REPLACED ALL THE BRAKE LINES DUE TO THE RUST. TOTAL COST $1050. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. LUCKILY I WAS STOPPED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED AND NO ONE WAS INJURED. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE MOVING IN TRAFFIC THE RESULT COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS.
MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING HOME PULLING OUR TRAVEL TRAILER FROM A WEEKEND OF CAMPING. THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2 CAR LENGTHS BETWEEN MY SELF AND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US. BOTH LANES OF VEHICLES CAME TO A QUICK STOP. I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE ABS STARTED TO KICK IN, I LET OF THE BRAKES AND REAPPLIED AGAIN THE ABS KICKED IN AND THE PEDDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR. I WAS ABLE TO HOP THE CURB WITH THE TRUCK AND TRAIL TO AVOID HITTING THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME. IT TOOK 5 OR MORE VEHICLE LENGTHS TO GET COMPLETELY STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY DRIVE THE 6 OR SO MILES HOME USING THE TRAILER BRAKES ONLY. ONCE THE TRAILER WAS UNHOOKED I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE TRUCK IN TO MY DRIVE WAY TO WORK ON IT. THE BRAKES WOULD HOLD THE TRUCK, THE PEDDLE WAS TO THE FLOOR BUT I'M DOUBTFUL THEY WOULD STOP IT AT ANY SPEED.

THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND OBSERVED THAT THE DRIVESHAFT DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVESHAFT FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND COMING TO A STOP THE ABS BRAKES KICK IN MAKING IT TAKE LONGER THAN NORMAL TO STOP. IT STARTED HAPPENING A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND IT IS GETTING WORSE. IT HAPPENS AT SLOW OR AS I AM SLOWING DOWN TO COME TO A STOP, THEN THE ABS KICKS IN AND INCREASES THE STOPPING DISTANCE. THAT NORMAL STOPPING DISTANCE YOU THINK YOU HAVE UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS IS NOT THERE. THIS PROBLEM IS IN PERFECTLY DRY CONDITIONS. IT IS NOT WEATHER RELATED AT ALL. I HAVE HAD TO STAND ON THE BRAKES TO STOP. IT'S BEEN SOMEWHAT INTERMITTENT BUT IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT TODAY. TURNING WHILE STOPPING USUALLY CAUSES THE ISSUE TO HAPPEN THE MOST, THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED TODAY. COMING TO A STRAIGHT STOP DOESN'T ALWAYS CAUSE THE ISSUE. APPARENTLY THERE WAS THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE 1999 - 2002 CHEVY TRUCKS AND THEY WERE RECALLED. APPARENTLY CHEVY HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE SO WE ARE SEEING IT AGAIN, I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO GET INTO ACCIDENTS OR DIE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IS THERE A DEATH TOLL WE NEED TO HIT? I'VE GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I SUSPECT THAT BECAUSE FEW HAVE BEEN KILLED AS THIS IS HAPPENING AT LOWER SPEEDS ONLY INSURANCE ISSUES HAVE ARISEN AND THE CONSUMERS WIND UP PAYING FOR THOSE IN THE END. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.
