VEHICLE HAS SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT AND MESSAGE ON THE DIC INDICATING A FAULTY AIR BAG SAFETY SYSTEM. UPON FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT AIRBAG IMPACT SENSOR IS FAULTY DISABLING THE AIRBAG SAFETY SYSTEM. THIS PART IS $250 FROM THE DEALER AND AS A SAFETY ITEM IS KNOWN TO BE FAULTY TOO SOON. *TR
WAS DRIVING DOWN ROAD LOOKED DOWN AT MY SPEEDOMETER AND IT WAS PEGGED OUT OVER 120 MPH I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 15MPH SO I STOPPED AND TURNED OFF TRUCK AND SPEEDOMETER WENT DOWN TO 60 NOT 0 AS IT SHOULD I TURNED IT BACK ON AND TOOK OFF IT DID SAME THING ALL WAY OVER 120 MPH SO WHEN I GOT WHERE I WAS HEADING AND TURNED TRUCK OFF AGAIN SAME THING JUST DROPPED TO 60 SO I KEPT TURNING KEY ON AND OFF AND IT WOULD DROP ABOUT 5MPH EACH TIME UNTIL IT GOT TO 0 WENT TO DEALER HE SAID LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL TRUCK I WOULD NEED A NEW DASH AND IT WOULD COST ME $1200 I THINK GM SHOULD FIX THESE TRUCK IT THE LAW TO HAVE A WORKING SPEEDOMETER ON YOUR TRUCK THANK YOU. *TR
BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO WITHIN 1/2 INCH OF FLOOR BRAKES CAUGHT AT LAST MINUTE AVOIDING A REAR END CRASH INTO CAR SITTING AT TRAFFIC LIGHT. INSPECTION REVEALED ALL STEEL BRAKE LINES ARE SEVERELY CORRODED AND LEAKING. ALL BRAKING WAS LOST WITH SEVERAL BRIEF PUMPS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. NOTICE LOW MILEAGE. ALL BRAKE ROTORS WEE WARPED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 13,000 MILES AND 4 YEARS OF SERVICED. BRAKE SYSTEM IS JUNK AND GM NEEDS TO REPLACE AT THEIR COST. UNCONSCIONABLE THAT GM HAS NOT BEEN CALLED TO TASK FOR THIS UNSAFE BREAK DESIGN. *TR
2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND REQUESTS VEHICLE RECALL INFORMATION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE PUSH BUTTON 4-WHEEL DRIVE BUTTON HAS NEVER WORKED PROPERLY. *JB
I PURCHASED MY 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500 HD IN DECEMBER OF 2013. THE CAR HAD 76000 MILES ON IT AT PURCHASE, AND HAS HAD LESS THAN 5000 PUT ON IT SINCE THEN. UPON INITIAL INSPECTION OF THE BRAKE LINES, THEY WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH. MY QUESTION IS THIS: WILL THE 2005 YEAR MODEL TRUCKS BE INCLUDED IN THE ENGINEERING ANALYSIS FILE #EA11001? I CHECKED CHEVY'S WEBSITE TODAY AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO RECALLS ON THIS MODEL YEAR TRUCK. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2005 SILVERADO FROM MY MOTHER, AND SHE BOUGHT THE TRUCK OFF OF A USED DEALER LOT PURCHASING FOR 12,500 FOUR YEARS AGO. SINCE THEN THE TRUCK HAS HAD AN AIR BAG SENSOR REPLACED AND IT ONCE AGAIN SHOWING THE AIR BAG NEEDS SERVICED, WHICH CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS TO TRUCK OWNERS IN SITUATIONS OF A CRASH. WAS TOLD THEY GO OUT COMMONLY. THE TRUCK HAS ALSO HAD AN ABS ISSUE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED ON THE LOT, WE SENT IT BACK TO BE FIXED, AND THE ISSUE WAS NEVER SOLVED, IT HAS BEEN LOOKED AT BY THREE TECHNICIANS. THIS IS ALSO A PUBLIC SAFETY HAZARD IF THE ABS CAUSES THE BRAKES TO FAIL. THE TRUCK ALSO HAS NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES, SUCH AS THE GEAR SELECTOR DOES NOT ILLUMINATE, IN WHICH CASE SOMEONE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT GEAR THEY ARE IN AND CAUSE AN INCIDENT, THE HEADLIGHT, TAIL LIGHT, BRAKE LIGHT, AND MARKER LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS BLOWING BULBS, THE DASH CLUSTER DOESN'T ALWAYS WANT TO ILLUMINATE EITHER, THIS COULD CAUSE A CRASH ESPECIALLY AT DARK WHEN YOU CANNOT SEE THE RPM, SPEEDO, OIL PRESS, TEMP, OR ANY OTHER GAGE PRESENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO BOTH STATED THAT THE ABS SENSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
BRAKE LINE CORROSION CAUSED A FAILURE. PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE TRUCK CRASHED INTO THE GARAGE DOOR. BRAKES ARE COMPLETELY NON WORKING. BRAKE LINES ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH. *TR
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE. ODOMETER MILEAGE WIPED CLEAN. DISPLAY READS "ODOMETER ERROR". *TR
CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD AND ENGINE. THIS ALLOWS ANTIFREEZE COOLANT TO MIX IN WITH THE OIL IN THE ENGINE AND GOES THROUGH THE EXHAUST, THIS ALSO GUMS UP THE OIL PARTS IN THE ENGINE AND REQUIRES NEW CYLINDER HEADS TO BE INSTALLED OR ENGINE REPLACED. I JUST RECENTLY WAS MADE AWARE THAT THE GENERAL MOTORS IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THERE ENGINES. AND ALSO WAS MADE AWARE THAT THE GENERAL MOTORS HAS SINCE FIXED THIS PROBLEM AFTER 2007, BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM THAT COULD CAUSE DEATH IT IS NOT LISTED AS A RECALL. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT MADE AWARE TO THE CONSUMER BUT IS PUBLISHED IN TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS. THIS IS KNOWN PROBLEM BY GENERAL MOTORS. IT IS GOING TO COST BETWEEN $2500 TO $5000 TO REPAIR. *TR
BRAKE ROTORS ARE DEEPLY PITTED--NOT FROM RUST--WAS UNAWARE OF THE CONDITION UNTIL I REPLACED BRAKE PADS @84000 MILES. *TR
WHEN I APPLYING THE BRAKES THE PEDDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR. UPON HAVING IT TOWED TO COVER CHEVROLET WINDBER PA. 15963 I WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE ROTTED AND WOULD NEED REPLACED. *TR
HAD JUST MADE A LEFT TURN ONTO MY STREET, APPROXIMATE SPEED ABOUT 5 MPH. AFTER THE LEFT TURN WAS MADE, I PROCEEDED ABOUT 200 FEET TO MY DRIVEWAY. UPON PULLING IN, I ATTEMPTED TO STOP AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE BRAKES WERE NOT HIT ABRUPTLY HOWEVER THERE WAS SNOW ON THE GROUND. MOVING AT 10 MPH WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE TRUCK DID NOT SLIDE BUT EVENTUALLY STOPPED, WITHOUT INCIDENT. AFTER PARKING THE TRUCK, 20 MINUTES LATER I DECIDED TO SEE IF IT WAS STILL THE SAME OR IF THIS WAS JUST A "FLUKE" (NO THE ABS LIGHT DID NOT COME ON WHEN PARKING). SO AS I OPENED THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, I LOOKED DOWN AND NOTICED THE SNOW WAS A GOLDEN/BLUISH COLOR. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK AND SAW BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING SLOWLY ONTO THE GROUND. THE LEAK IS COMING FROM UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, NEAR WHERE THE GROUP OF BRAKE LINES IS LOCATED. I CHECKED OUT POSSIBLE FIXES ONLINE AND NOTICED I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS COMPLAINT. IT WAS SUGGESTED I FILE THIS COMPLAINT, WHICH I AM GLAD I DID SO. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE IS NOT AS LUCKY AS I WAS (PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AT A SLOW SPEED). THANK YOU. *TR
STARTED FOR THE STORE. WENT ONE BLOCK AND HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES FOR A RED LIGHT. THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BRAKE INDICATOR WARNING. LUCKILY DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING. RETURNED HOME AND THEN DROVE IT UP TO MY MECHANIC LATE AT NIGHT (NO TRAFFIC). HE DIAGNOSED IT AS A RUSTED THROUGH BRAKE LINE WHICH HE REPLACED. BUT HE DID INDICATE THAT MOST OF THE REMAINING LINES ARE ALSO BADLY RUSTED. I'VE HAD PREVIOUS YEAR CHEVY TRUCKS WITH MANY MORE MILES AND LONGER TIME ON THE ROAD WITH NO BRAKE FAILURE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY PROBLEM. I LIVE IN NORTHERN VA. WHERE WE DON'T GET A LOT OF SNOW AND ICE , CONSEQUENTLY NOT MUCH SALT. I THINK GM KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND IS TRYING TO STALL AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. HOW MANY ACCIDENTS WILL THERE HAVE TO BE BEFORE THE NHTSA DOES SOMETHING. REMEMBER THE GOV. BAILED GM OUT. *TR
THE HEATER BLOWER WOULD NOT TURN OFF WHICH DRAINED THE BATTERY. NOW BOTH PARTS NEED TO BE REPLACED. ACCORDING TO CHEVROLET, THIS PART WAS A RECALL ITEM IF MADE FROM A CERTAIN MANUFACTURE. APPARENTLY, OUR PART WAS A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER WHICH IS WHY WE DIDN'T GET THE RECALL NOTICE. SINCE OUR PART FAILED, PERHAPS, IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT OR THE OTHER MANUFACTURERS WERE DELINQUENT DURING THE ASSEMBLY PROCESS AS WELL. PLEASE INVESTIGATE TO SEE IF WE MAY QUALIFY FOR A RECALL ON THIS PART. *TR
I WAS VISITING MY PARENTS AND I LEFT TO GO TO MY FRIENDS HOUSE DOWN THE STREET FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN I GOT BACK IN MY TRUCK AND STARTED TO HEAD TO MY PLACE. I WAS APPROACHING THE FIRST STOP SIGN IN MY PARENTS NEIGHBORHOOD AND I PRESSED MY BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR WHILE THE TRUCK SLOWLY CAME TO A STOP. MY WIFE AND ONE YEAR OLD SON WERE IN THE TRUCK WITH ME. THANK GOD IT WAS IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. I TURNED RIGHT AROUND USING MY PARKING BRAKE AS A WAY TO STOP SO I COULD GET BACK TO MY PARENTS HOUSE TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED. WHEN I GOT THERE MY BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW AND I SAW BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING IN FRONT OF THE LEFT REAR WHEEL. I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK AND HAD MY FATHER PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND FOUND BRAKE FLUID SHOOTING OUT OF MY BRAKE LINE THAT IS ABOVE THE GAS TANK. I LOOKED ONLINE FOR INFO ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND FOUND THAT THERE IS/WAS A INVESTIGATION ABOUT 99-03 GM TRUCKS HAVING THIS ISSUE AND I'M WONDERING IF THERE HAD BEEN ANY OTHER GM TRUCKS THE SAME YEAR AS MINE THAT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE AND IF SO THEN THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR IT. *TR
BRAKE LINES FAILED DUE TO CORROSION. *TR
DROVE INTO THE GARAGE AND PARKED. A LOUD EXPLOSIVE NOISE CAME FROM THE TRUCK AND FUMES BEGAN FUNNELING THROUGH THE HOOD OF TRUCK. QUICKLY TURNED OFF IGNITION AND GOT OUT OF VEHICLE. IN A FEW MINUTES GARAGE WAS FULL OF INTENSE FLAMES. THE HEAT WAS SO INTENSE IT BLEW OPEN THE DOOR INTO THE HOUSE AND BURNED/MELTED THE LAUNDRY EQUIPMENT AND THREE ROOMS, AND THE SECOND CAR IN THE GARAGE, SENDING SMOKE DAMAGE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE. VEHICLES MELTED AND EVERYTHING IN THEM AND IN THE GARAGE- MOWER, SNOW BLOWER, SMALL EQUIPMENT AND MORE, WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED. THE FIREFIGHTERS WERE ABLE TO CONTAIN THE FIRE TO AREAS IDENTIFIED ABOVE. THERE WAS EXTREME SMOKE DAMAGE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN AA ALLEY CAME TO THE STREET AND HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES HARD, THE LINE LEADING FROM THE ABS BLOCK TO THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL RUPTURED. COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKING, ENDED UP STOPPING THE VEHICLE USING THE E-BRAKE. *TR
AFTER STARTING MY TRUCK I HAD STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE IT HELD AND THEN WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. I THEN PROCEEDED TO SHIFT BACK TO PARK AND INVESTIGATE, AND FOUND ONE OF MY BRAKE LINES HAD COMPLETELY SPLIT AND A PUDDLE OF FLUID LAY ON THE GROUND UNDER THE PROPORTIONAL VALVE. MY TRUCK IS ONLY 8YRS OLD AND LESS THAN 70,000 MILES ON IT. GM MUST BE USING SOME REALLY POOR MATERIAL IN THEIR BRAKE LINES. *TR
SRS WARNING CAME ON. HAD FAULT CODE. CALLED CHEVY DEALER AND THEY SAID I WOULD NEED A NEW AIRBAG. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT GM DOES KNOW ABOUT THIS AND EVEN PUT OUT A TSB. IT IS A CONNECTOR TO THE AIRBAG ITSELF LOCATED IN THE LEFT KICK PANEL. THE FIX IS TO CLEAN THE CONNECTOR OR REPLACE IT. NO NEW AIRBAG IS NEEDED BUT IT DID REOCCUR ABOUT A YEAR LATER. RECLEANED AND OK AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY ITEM AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. SINCE GM KNEW IT I MUST ASSUME THAT NHTSA KNEW IT ALSO. I CAN SEE WHERE A LOT OF PEOPLE WOULD NOT FIX THIS AND JUST DRIVE LIKE THIS SINCE A LOT OF TECHNICIANS THINK YOU NEED A NEW AIRBAG WHEN IT IS IN FACT POOR WIRING BY GM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL ABNORMALLY TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE CONTACT CRASHED AND REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE PARTS WERE ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000. *TR

FUEL LINES CORRODED AND RUSTED THOUGH AND LEAKING, POTENTIAL FOR VEHICLE TO CATCH FIRE. BRAKE LINES SEVERE RUST AND CORROSION. CAN FAIL AT ANYTIME POTENTIALLY CAUSING VEHICLE CRASH, I HAVE A 1996 CHEVROLET CAVALIER WITH OVER 200,000 MILES AND THE BRAKE AND FUEL LINES ON THIS CAR ARE IN BETTER CONDITION THAN THIS TRUCK. *TR
IGNITION SWITCH IS GETTING HARDER AND HARDER TO GET THE KEY TO TURN. *TR
BRAKE LINES RUSTED OUT. TRUCK FAILED TO STOP WITHIN A SAFE DISTANCE ON THE HIGHWAY. BRAKE LINE GAVE OUT ON THE HIGHWAY NO WARNING AT ALL. JUST A SOFT, NON FUNCTIONING PEDAL. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE TRUCK OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD NO ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL ABNORMALLY TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
THIS MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK THE SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER FAILED. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND CHEVY WILL MORE LIKELY TO REFUSE TO PAY FIX IT. *TR
APPROACHING A 4 WAY TRAFFIC SIGNALED INTERSECTION WHEN SIGNAL STARTED TO CHANGE TO YELLOW. DECIDED TO NOT PROCEED THROUGH INTERSECTION SO APPLIED BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP. PEDAL WENT DIRECTLY TO FLOOR, BRAKE DASHBOARD LIGHT ILLUMINATED. VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP AND PROCEEDED THROUGH INTERSECTION, WHILE VEHICLES TO MY RIGHT PROCEEDED TO MOVE. I HAD NO BRAKES AT ALL. I MANEUVERED VEHICLE ONTO A PARALLEL ACCESS ROAD AND VEHICLE EVENTUALLY ROLLED TO A STOP. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM, AS HYDRAULIC FLUID WAS ON THE ROAD IN THE VICINITY OF THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE...ONLY... I WAS ALWAYS AWARE THAT I HAD SOME BRAKING CAPACITY WHEN I HAD A BRAKE FAILURE. FOLLOWING 8 DAYS AT A GM DEALERSHIP AND A BILL FOR $2,000, THE BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED FOLLOWING THE DIAGNOSIS "RUSTED/CORRODED BRAKE LINES". A COMPLAINT TO GM HAS FALLEN ON DEAF EARS. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON THE TURNPIKE WHEN A TRUCKED I WAS FOLLOWING SLOWED DOWN, I HIT MY BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN AND THE REAR BRAKE LINE BLEW CAUSING THE BREAK PEDAL TO HIT THE FLOOR. I WAS LUCKY NOBODY WAS IN THE LEFT LANE. HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID A MAJOR ACCIDENT. AFTER HAVING THE TRUCK LOOKED AT, I'M FORCED TO REPLACE ALL THE BRAKE LINES BECAUSE OF RUST. AFTER READING COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS ABOUT RUSTED CHEVY BRAKE LINES, AND ALMOST LOSING MY LIFE. I HAVE DECIDED TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT.. YOU DON'T HEAR OF ANY OTHER MANUFACTURER HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE AN OLDER FORD WITH WELL OVER 130K, THAT'S DRIVEN MUCH MORE. AND I HAVE HAD ZERO PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE LINES RUSTING. IT IS DRIVEN IN THE SAME AREA. GM NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR USING CHEAP MATERIALS JUST TO SAVE SOME MONEY. *TR

(THERE IS A RECALL BUT WE WERE TOLD WE WERE NOT COVERED). THE ENTIRE CLUSTER MUST BE REPLACED. AND YOU CAN ONLY GET THE PART AT THE DEALER BECAUSE THEY NEED TO THE VIN AND MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE. 2. VEHICLE'S GAUGES WERE NOT ACCURATE. THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD BE WORKING FINE THEN IT WOULD GRADUALLY GO TO 0 WHEN I WAS DRIVING. RPM WOULD BE AT 6 AND THEN GAS GAUGE WOULD QUIT WORKING. CLUSTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. CHEVROLET MANUFACTURER GAVE ME A DISCOUNT OF $75 TO REPLACE. THIS ITEM SHOULD BE CLASSIFIED AS A RECALL AS IT WAS A MATTER TO SAFETY AND THERE WERE OTHER CHEVROLET VEHICLES THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AT DEALERSHIP. *TR

THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED IN ODER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FIVE BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL RELATED TO THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
WHILE DRIVING HOME THIS MORNING, A CAR PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME FROM A SIDE STREET. I HIT THE BRAKES AND THEY WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO SLAM THE TRUCK IN FIRST GEAR AND PUMP THE BRAKES LIKE CRAZY TO STOP. THE BRAKE LINES ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT FROM FRONT TO BACK. GM REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM AND TOLD ME TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AT MY OWN EXPENSE SINCE THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I FIND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH SILVERADOS AND NEITHER GM, NOR THE NHTSA HAS ADDRESSED THIS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A MANDATED RECALL. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO BECOME STATISTICS BEFORE SOMEONE TAKES ACTION? *TR
2005 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500 HD DURAMAX, SPEEDOMETER STUCK ON 23 MPH. KNOWN ISSUE WITH FAULTY PART, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STEPPER MOTOR. GM WILL NOT COVER REPLACEMENT. FAULTY PARTS USED FROM 2003-2007. CLASS ACTION SUIT ONLY COVERED CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS AND NO RECALL WAS DONE. SAFETY ISSUE/CONCERN. WAS INFORMED BY DEALERSHIP THAT IF WE HAD BROUGHT IT IN 8 MONTHS EARLIER IT WOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED AT NO COST. NEVER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF POTENTIAL FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. I WENT TO MOVE THIS TRUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY, WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, NEARLY HITTING MY CAR WHICH WAS BEHIND ME. I GOT OUT AND OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS VERY LOW, AND THAT BRAKE FLUID HAD SQUIRTED ALL OVER THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE AND WAS ALSO LEAKING FROM A SECOND PLACE JUST UNDER THE MASTER CYLINDER ALONG THE FRAME. THE BRAKE LINES WERE WET AND ARE VERY RUSTY, TO THE POINT OF SCALING. NOW, I CAN'T USE MY TRUCK, WHICH I VERY MUCH NEEDED ON 09/14/2013. THIS IS VERY DISGUSTING!

SAME FRAME DESIGN ON 2014 TRUCKS OF SAME MODEL. BODY IS STILL GOOD, BUT INSPECTION WILL EXPIRE AT END OF SEPT. 2014 AND THIS 9 YEAR OLD TRUCK WITH 76,000 ORIGINAL MILES WILL BE UNABLE TO BE PUT ON THE ROAD WITHOUT FRAME REPLACEMENT. WHILE SLOWING DOWN AT A STOP LIGHT I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL ONLY TO HAVE IT FALL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I WAS CRUISING TO A STOP LIGHT WITH CROSSING TRAFFIC AND WAS COMPLETELY TERRIFIED AT THE LOSS OF BRAKING POWER. I HAD THE IDEA TO PUT THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL AND JAM THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHILE HONKING MY HORN. THE TRUCK SLOWLY CAME TO A STOP WELL WITHIN THE INTERSECTION NARROWLY MISSING TRAFFIC. I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK AND FOUND BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM THE REAR NEAR THE AXLE. A MECHANIC HAS CONFIRMED THIS WAS A BURST BRAKE LINE DUE TO RUST AND THAT HE SEE THIS BRAKE LINE FAIL AT THE SAME SPOT ON CHEVROLET/GMC TRUCKS FREQUENTLY. THIS VEHICLE HAS FREQUENT CAR WASHES WITH UNDERCARRIAGE RINSING YEAR ROUND. *TR

THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DECELERATE OR STOP. THE CONTACT BEGAN PUMPING THE PEDAL UNTIL THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT FOUR BRAKE LINES WERE SUFFERING FROM SEVERE RUST AND CORROSION. ADDITIONALLY, ONE OF THE LINES HAD BEGAN TO LEAK. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED IN AUGUST 2013. WHEN BACKING UP (AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH), I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKES FAILED. THE BRAKE LINE WAS REPLACED OVER THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE REAR END HOUSING. ON OCTOBER 3, 2013, ANOTHER BRAKE LINE FAILED CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GO TO THE FLOOR OF THE TRUCK. THIS TIME THE BRAKE LINE IS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE FRAME UNDER THE DRIVER'S COMPARTMENT. *TR
I WENT TO SLOW TO MAKE TURN AND BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR SUDDENLY SO I USED EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. I BELIEVE ALL LINES WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AS OTHER LOOK AS RUSTY. RUST HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR LAST 2 YEARS WITH ROTORS NEEDING REPLACE THEN BEARINGS IN FRONT RUSTED AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND PEDAL WOULD SURGE. THIS IS THE WORSE CHEVY TRUCK I EVER BOUGHT AS EVEN SEEING RUST ALREADY IN LOWER PANELS AND ENTIRE FRAME. LOOKS BAD FOR ONLY 53,474 MILES. *TR
