Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 122,000. After obtaining a Carfax report, it was discovered that the mileage was 202,000.
AIR BAG LIGHT ON, LIGHT ON GEAR SHIFT REAL DIM
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle in the morning, there were several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that the starter motor was not turning over as designed. The contact stated that she had to wait until all the warning lights had stopped being illuminated and then the vehicle was able to be started. The contact stated that the failure had become a recurring failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the failure was an electrical failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
Design flaw - Brake light switch- the end section of the internal spring is placed in a position that allows it to potentially slide down and block the space needed for when the plunger is depressed, jamming up the switches ability to properly function. I have not determined what happened to the switch on my truck, but noticed that this scenario was a possibility and felt obligated to report my opinion.

I WENT TO A GUYS HOUSE WHO WAS SELLING A 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO WITH 114,000 MILES ON THE CLUSTER. HE DIDN'T HAVE THE TITLE UNDER HIS NAME. HE WAS TITLE SKIPPING. GAVE HIM 5,000.00 THAT HE WAS ASKING FOR ON 11/02/2020 THEN WENT TO FIND THE OWNER WITH HIS NAME ON TITLE. HAD HIM SIGN THE TITLE OVER TO ME. WENT TO DMV AND CHANGED THE TITLE UNDER MY NAME. THEN 11/28/2020 I RAN A CARFAX REPORT TO SEE WHAT MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN DONE ON MY TRUCK AND IT SAYS THAT MY TRUCK HAD MORE THAN 250,000 MILES ON IT. I CONFRONT THE MAN THAT SAME DAY. AND ASKED HIM IF HE CHANGED THE MILEAGE HE SAID YES. I THEN ASKED HIM TO GIVE 2,000.00 BECAUSE THE TRUCK IS NOT WORTH 5,000.00 HE SAID HE WAS NOT GOING TO GIVE ME A PENNY. SO I MADE A POLICE REPORT THAT SAME DAY ON 11/28/2020
THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDES LIGHTS STARTED GOING OFF BY THEMSELVES. THERE WAS NO SMOKE OR BURNING SMELL. MY HUSBAND WAS GOING TOO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT ON PRESIDENTS DAY, BUT THE TRUCK BURNT THE DAY BEFORE. OUR INSURANCE WOULD NOT COVER IT DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. SO HERE WE ARE OUT VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CHECKED THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING, THE SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED PRICE KIA (1390 RICHMOND RD, CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA 22911, (833) 394-8325) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. *TT
USED AUX PORT TO CHARGE CELL PHONE. WITH IN SECONDS SMOKE STARTS COMING FROM DASH. AFTER CONTAINING FIRE I REMOVED DASH COVER TO FIND THAT THE POWER WIRE THAT CONTROLS AUX PORT AND OBD2 PORT HAD OVER LOADED AND CAUGHT FIRE WITH CAUSED INTERNAL DAMAGE TO ALL ELECTRICAL AND INTERNAL DASH. AFTER DOING COMPLETE WALK THROUGH I NOTICED IN FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD THAT THE FUSE THAT CONTROLS 2 AUXS HAD MELTED DOWN. RIGHT FUSE WAS INSTALLED BEFORE ELECTRICAL FIRE. DURING TIME OF INCIDENT VEHICLE WAS MOBILE IN TOWN ON PUBLIC ROADS. AFTER CAB OF PICK UP STARTED FILLING WITH SMOKE I PULLED OVER AND USED CHEMICAL FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO SMOTHER FLAMES.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN TOWN ON A CITY STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, WITH THE AC ON AND THE BLOWER IN THE HIGH POSITION, THE BLOWER STARTED TURNING OFF INTERMITTENTLY. A SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC WAS NOTED AND THE BLOWER COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. THE COMPRESSOR FOR THE AC CONTINUED TO CYCLE ON AND OFF. THE OTHER LOWER SETTINGS FOR THE BLOWER DID NOT WORK EITHER. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE PLUG THAT GOES TO THE RESISTOR PACK NEXT TO THE BLOWER HAD A BADLY-BURNED CONTACT FOR THE GROUND WIRE GOING TO THE BLOWER. THE PLASTIC AROUND THE PLUG WAS MELTED AND BURNED AND THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR WAS MELTED OFF. A SERIOUS FIRE COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY STARTED UNDER THE DASH DUE TO THE INTENSE HEAT AND ARCING OF THE ELECTRICAL CONTACTS PUTTING ME AND MY FAMILY IN DANGER. DOING RESEARCH ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TRUCKS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS, BUT I DO NOT FIND ONE.
DRIVER SIDE SEAT HEATER TURNS ON BY ITSELF. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE THE DRIVER IS DISTRACTED WHILE DRIVING AND MUST LOOK DOWN TO FIND THE OFF SWITCH. OFTEN, THE SEAT HEAT COMES BACK ON AGAIN ALMOST RIGHT AWAY.. THIS SITUATION SEEMED TO OCCUR IN APPROX 2003 TO 2007 MODELS. INTERNET FORUMS SHOW THAT GM HAS SERVICE BULLETINS THAT INSTRUCT TECHNICIANS TO DO A 'FIRMWARE FIX". THE ONLY WAY FOR ME TO STOP THIS CONDITION WAS TO LOCATE AND DISCONNECT A SMALL GREEN CONNECTOR UNDER THE SEAT THAT DISABLES THE SEAT HEATER. CHANGING THE CONTROL MODULE DIDN'T REMEDY THE SITUATION. IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AND IS INTERMITTENT. SEEMS LIKE GM HAS REMEDIED THE SITUATION IN NEWER MODELS. SEEMS TO ME THEY SHOULD BE RECALLING OLDER MODELS TO INCORPORATE SOME SORT OF "FIX". THE DISTRACTION OF LOCATING AND TURNING OFF THE HEATER IS AS BAD AS "DRIVING WHILE TEXTING". I ALWAYS HAVE TO PULL OVER TO GET IT SHUT OFF. OFTEN, WHEN I RESUME DRIVING, THE HEATER WILL COME BACK ON. EVENTUALLY IT STOPS TURNING ITSELF ON.

IN ADDITION, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED FUNCTIONING INDEPENDENTLY AND THE RADIO STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND USED HIS SHIRT TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT A SPECIALIST WOULD CALL HER BACK. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND THEN RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S HOUSE. IN ADDITION, THE DIGITAL CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM REFLECTED THE ENTIRE TIME AND THE AREA AROUND THE VENTS BECAME REALLY HOT ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,000.
I HAD JUST DRIVEN TO THE LOCAL WALMART TO GET SUPPLIES BEFORE THE FREEZING RAIN AND ICE GOT HERE. IT WAS 15:50, ABOUT AN HOUSE BEFORE THE FRIDAY NIGHT AFTER WORK CHRISTMAS RUSH WOULD BE RUSHING HOME. AFTER STARTING MY TRUCK, AND LETTING IT WARM A LITTLE SO THE HEAT FROM DEFROSTER WOULD MELT THE ICE AND CLEAR THE FOG ON THE WINDOWS WHICH ENABLES ME TO DRIVE SAFELY. IT IS ALSO AGAINST STATE LAW TO DRIVE WITH UNCLEAR WINDOWS. WELL, TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, MY 5 SPEED MANUAL SELECT BLOWER SWITCH DOES NOTHING. WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK, I TOLD THEM SPEEDS 4 AND 5 DON'T WORK. I KNOW FROM PAST EXPERIENCE THAT THE RESISTORS CAN GO OUT. THEY WOULD NOT FIX. WELL NOW, ALL ARE OUT. I MANAGED TO GET A LITTLE HOT AIR ON WINDSHIELD BUT DECIDED IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND RETURNED TO GET TRUCK THE NEXT DAY. AFTER GOOGLING "BLOWER MOTOR FAN RELAY SWITCH" I WAS AMAZED AT HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR DECADES. BEFORE I RETIRED, I WORKED FOR AT&T AS A TECHNICIAN. WE DEAL WITH CORRODED WIRES AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT DAMAGED BY WATER ON A DAILY BASIS. AFTER REMOVING THE RESISTER MODULE, IT WAS VERY OBVIOUS IT WAS DAMAGED BY WATER. NOT ONLY THAT, IT WAS DESIGNED TO BE PROTECTED FROM WATER BY HAVING TWO SEALS, ONE FOAM, ONE RUBBER BUILT INTO IT. OF COURSE THESE WERE PROBABLY PLACED INTO THE MODULE BY A MACHINE BECAUSE YOU COULD THEY DIDN'T FIT PROPERLY INTO THE SLOTS THEY WERE DESIGNED TO FIT IT. NOT ONLY THAT, THE WIRES THAT WERE SUPPOSE TO BE SODERED (SP) TO THE RESISTORS MUST HAVE BEEN DONE BY A MACHINE AS WELL, YOU COULD SEE THE TWO COMPONENTS WERE PRESSED TOGETHER BY SOMETHING NOT DONE BY A WORKER, AND NO SODER (SP) WAS VISIBLE. ON TOP OF THAT, AFTER TESTING ONE OF THE RESISTORS, WHICH TESTED GOOD., THE WIRE THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE MAKING CONTACT WITH THE RESISTER WAS TESTING OPEN, MEANING BAD CONNECTION. WHOEVER MADE THIS MODULE FOR GM IS AT FAULT. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD. *TR
SPEEDOMETER NOT DISPLAYING CORRECTLY. GAUGE SITS AT 30MPH WHILE AT STOP AND WHILE DRIVING GOES TO 70+MPH. TURNING THE TRUCK OFF AND ON DOES NOT FIX PROBLEM. CONTACTED CHEVROLET TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS. THERE WAS NO RECALL ALTHOUGH I AM SEEING THAT THERE ARE OTHER CHEVY SILVERADO OWNERS THAT HAVE MADE COMPLAINTS. LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER STATES APPROXIMATELY $600.00 TO FIX. HAVE NOT FIXED AS OF TODAY. I FEEL THIS IS A A SAFETY ISSUE THAT GM/CHEVROLET NEEDS TO FIX.
HE HVAC BLOWER AND RESISTER WENT OUT CAUSING A WIRING HARNESS TO MELT- A BURNING PLASTIC SMELL AND SMOKE FILLED THE CABIN. THE WIRING HARNESS MELTED. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WITH OCCUPANTS WHEN THIS OCCURRED.

THE SPEEDOMETER IS VERY ERRATIC SOMETIMES SHOWING A FASTER SPEED THAN TRAVELED SOMETIMES A SLOWER SPEED OR NO SPEED AT ALL THE ODOMETER HAS SINCE QUIT WORKING AND DISPLAYS ODOMETER ERROR WHERE THE MILEAGE SHOULD READ. AND NOW THE ENGINE WATER TEMP GAUGE IS DEAD POINTING STRAIGHT DOWN WHERE THERE ARE NO NUMBERS AND NEVER MOVES. DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW SAYS THEY HAVE REPAIRED QUITE A FEW OF THESE AND WILL COST AROUND $350. TO SEND IT OUT TO BE REPAIRED BY A QUALIFIED REPAIR PLACE. I THINK G M SHOULD STAND BEHIND SUCH A PROBLEM AND RECALL THESE TRUCKS TO FIX THEM.
THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE HEATER BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR MELTED AND THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW CAUSES SMOKE AND YOU LOOSE THE HEATER FUNCTION. NOT SURE IF IT COULD GET HOT ENGOUGH TO START A FIRE.
NOTICED UPPER BRAKE LIGHT ON WHILE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. TRUCK WOULDN'T START. TRUCK WOULDN'T ACCEPT AN EXTENDED JUMP. TRUCK TOWED.MECHANIC FOUND THE UNDER DASH FUSE BOX MELTED IN TWO DIFFERENT PLACES. TRUCK NEEDED NEW FUSE BOX. PLUGS AND INTERIOR WIRING HARNESS. NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAD BEEN MADE TO THIS VEHICLE. PARTS HAVE BEEN SAVED. $1,745.00 TO FIX. I SEE MANY REPORTS OF ELECTRICAL FIRES IN GM, CHEVY PRODUCTS ON THE WEB WITH NO APPARENT ACTION TO FORCE A FIX. VEHICLES ARE BEING DESTROYED, SEVERELY DAMAGED, PEOPLE AND PROPERTY ENDANGERED BECAUSE THEY ARE APPARENTLY USING CHEAP, INFERIOR GRADE PRODUCTS. PEOPLE WOULD NOT MIND PAYING A FEW DOLLARS MORE TO ENSURE THEY WON'T DIE IN A FIRE OR HAVE THEIR HOUSE BURN DOWN. I'M NOT A FAN OF GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS BUT IF THESE COMPANY'S WON'T VOLUNTARILY DO THE RIGHT THING PERHAPS THE GOVERNMENT HAS TO MANDATE SPECIFIC GAUGE WIRING AND CONTACTS. THANKS *TR
