TRANSMISSION LINES THAT RUN FROM THE TRANSMISSION COOLER NEXT TO THE RADIATOR CONTINUE TO LEAK. THE LINES SEEM TO LEAK MORE IN COLDER CLIMATES. I AM ON MY THIRD SET IN 60 DAYS. TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS A FLAMMABLE SUBSTANCE THE LAST I KNEW. *TR
BLOWER FAN SPEED QUITS, WIRING IS MELTED APART FROM TOO MUCH AMPERAGE. THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE FIRES IF IT HAS NOT ALREADY DONE SO. OUR COMPANY HAS 8 OF THESE TRUCKS AND ALL OF THEM ARE DOING THIS. CHEVY 1500'S AND 2500 TRUCKS. *TR
THIRD FRONT WHEEL HUB BEARING IN 60,000 MILES. DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. MOST MECHANICS TELL ME THIS IS VERY EXCESSIVE AND MOST HARDLY EVER REPLACE A WHEEL BEARING. I FEEL THIS CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS A BEARING COULD FAIL AND A WHEEL COME OFF AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED CAUSING DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. *TR
MY TRUCK SEEMS TO WANT TO GO IN REVERSE WHEN STARTING, IN MORNING AFTER SETTING OVER NIGHT. IT OCCURS OFTEN. THE GM DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAVE TAKEN THE PICKUP TRUCK TO (SEVERAL TIMES) TOLD ME IT IS" NORMAL" EVEN GAVE ME A COPY OF A DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT# 1884620. DOC. STATES NO REPAIR SHOULD BE ATTEMPTED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. OVER THE LAST SIX WEEKS, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FIVE TIMES REGARDING THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE OR DETERMINE IF THE AIR BAGS ARE OPERABLE. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED GENERAL MOTORS, BUT THEY HAVE YET TO RESPOND. THEY DID, HOWEVER, STATE THAT THE SERVICE FROM THE DEALER WAS SATISFACTORY. THE AIR BAG SENSOR CONTINUES TO ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,204.
VEHICLE SAT AT THE AIRPORT FOR 72HRS. WHEN I LEFT THE AIRPORT, THE BRAKES FELT SPONGY, BUT WERE ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. ON THE FREEWAY AS I WAS BRAKING, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO FEEL MORE SPONGY, REQUIRING INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY RESIDENCE APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES FROM THE AIRPORT, I TRIED TO TURN INTO MY DRIVEWAY, ONLY TO FIND I HAD LOST ALL POWER STEERING ASSIST AND BRAKING ASSIST. I WAS ABLE TO FINALLY TURN IN, BUT HAD TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO COME TO A FULL STOP. ONCE, STOPPED, I FOUND I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THERE WERE NO BRAKES. I OPENED THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR CAP, WHICH IMMEDIATELY SPEWED A FEW OUNCES OF P/S FLUID OVER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, FORTUNATELY NOT ON THE HOT EXHAUST. DEALER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED 2 MILES TO THEIR DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THEY DID KEEP IT OVER NIGHT AND DECIDE TO CHANGE A P/S PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE EVEN THOUGH THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE ANYTHING. I FILED A COMPLAINT TO GM WITHOUT ANYONE TAKING THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS A REAL PROBLEM. THIS SAFETY ISSUED MUST BE ADDRESSED AND THE ROOT CAUSE MUST BE FOUND BEFORE SERIOUS INJURY/DEATH OCCURS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE RISING FROM THE HOOD OF THE PARKED VEHICLE. HE LIFTED THE HOOD AND FLAMES WERE PRESENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED AND THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 30,000.
GENERAL TIRES WITH 420 TREAD WEAR BLOWING OUT AT LESS THAN 20,000 MILES, TIRES SEEM TO BE VERY THIN. ON 2006 CHEVY PICKUP, NOT ABUSED GENERAL AMERITRAC 245/70/17. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE SLID 25 FEET WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A POLE. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE WET. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A PARTIAL TEAR TO HIS ACHILLES TENDON. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE ANTILOCK BRAKES CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,300.
I'M FIRE INVESTIGATOR REPORTING THIS INCIDENT. UNEXPLAINED FIRE FROM UNDERNEATH TRUCK NEAR GAS TANK AREA. VEHICLE HAD BEEN IDLED 1/2 HOUR AND DRIVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BEFORE AND AFTER THE IDLING PERIOD UNTIL FIRE DISCOVERED BY DRIVER. TRUCK HAD 15KMILES, REGULAR SERVICING, NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS UNTIL FIRE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT A CRASH. HE STATED THAT HE WILL CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT STILL HAS THE FAILED AMERI-TECH TIRE. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, NUMBER OF CYLINDERS, AND DOT NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 30,000. RETURNED USPS, 2ND ATTEMPT MADE 08/06/07 ATTEMPT FAILED . *LJ
TRANSMISSIONS LINES ARE CONTINUING TO LEAK. HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE THIS YEAR. DEALER HAS REPLACED COOLER LINES UNDER WARRANTY. TRUCK ONLY HAS 32000 MILES ON IT. DEALER NEEDS TO COME UP WITH A PERMANENT FIX, OR IT IS GOING TO COST THE CONSUMER A LOT OF MONEY TO KEEP HAVING THE TRANSMISSION LINES REPLACED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT TWO YEARS AGO REGARDING THE ABS LOCKING UP IN RAINY CONDITIONS. ALL FOUR OF HIS TIRES LOCKED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT DROVE THROUGH TWO BUSHES AND STRUCK A LARGE TRAFFIC LIGHT POLE. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED $7,000 WORTH OF DAMAGES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE HOSPITAL SINCE THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER RECALLED THE VEHICLES IN THE NORTH OF THE UNITED STATES, BUT NOT THE SOUTH. THE CONTACT HAS A LAWYER AND SPOKE WITH THE CHEVROLET MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE BRAKE FAILURE. HE NO LONGER DRIVES THE VEHICLE IN THE RAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
2006 CHEVROLET 2500 PICK-UP W/8.1 MOTOR. FIRST THERE WAS FAULTY HOSES CAUSING LOW OIL WARNING TO COME ON. NOW ENGINE IS LOW ON OIL WITH 1800 MILES SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE. HAD TO PUT IN 1 1/4 QUART OF OIL. AFTER ENGINE BREAK IN. I SWITCHED TO MOBILE 1 5W30 SYNETHIC. A RECOMMENDED OIL TO USE BY CHEVROLET. DEALERS SERVICE DEPT. SAYS ITS SUPPOSE TO USE A QUART TO 2000MILES. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT WITH THE MODERN TECHNOLOGY OF ENGINES. MAYBE YEARS AGO BUT NOT NOW. IF THAT'S THE CASE THEN CHEVROLET SHOULD HAVE SAID THIS ENGINE USES OIL. I GUARANTEE YOU NOT MANY WOULD HAVE BEEN SOLD. *TR
MY 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAS A DEFECT WHERE THE TIRES RUB AGAINST THE SUSPENSION OF THE VEHICLE WHENEVER A TURN IS MADE. THIS COULD CAUSE A TIRE TO BLOW OUT CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. CHEVROLET SAYS THEY CAN NOT REPAIR MY TRUCK. *TR

WHEN USING A/C DRIVERS SIDE OF CAB WILL BLOW HEAT WHILE PASSENGER SIDE BLOWS COLD. THIS IS A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM THAT STARTED WHILE STILL IN WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR HAS REMAINED ILLUMINATED FOR OVER ONE YEAR. SHE FOUND THAT IF THE AIR BAG INDICATOR IS ILLUMINATED, THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. THE DEALER HAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTS. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED ONLINE THAT THERE WERE A COUPLE OF CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED, BUT THE DEALER DOES NOT KNOW IF THEY WILL PERFORM THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HYBRID, UPON COMING TO A STOP LIGHT IN THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTH CAROLINA THE HYBRID VEHICLE SHUTS THE MOTOR OFF UNTIL UNTIL YOU REMOVE YOUR FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL. WHEN YOU REMOVE YOUR FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL BEFORE YOU CAN PLACE YOUR FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR THE TRUCK ROLLS BACKWARDS AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED DEPENDING ON THE INCLINE. CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS SAID THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS FLAW AS OF YET AND EXPECTS US TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE TRUCK AS IS. I FEEL THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND THIS VEHICLE DESIGN SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN SOLD IN THE MOUNTAINS. THANK YOU. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH IN WET CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO SECURE THE DRIVER AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 30,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. AT 4,000 MILES THE INDICATOR LIGHT FOR THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ILLUMINATED AND STAYED ON FOR 2 TO 3 DAYS UNTIL IT WAS REPAIRED. AT 11,000 MILES THE VEHICLE OVER HEATED, AND THE WATER PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. UNDER 20,000 MILES THE FRONT BRAKES FAILED, AND IT WAS HARD TO STOP THE VEHICLE AT A NORMAL DISTANCE. ON 04/30/2007 WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE ABS INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON, AN HOUR LATER THE RIGHT FRONT END OF THE TRUCK SHOOK AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 52,000 MILES , AND BEGAN FAILING AT 4,000 MILES. *AK
VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR APPROX. 72 HOURS. LOST POWER ASSISTED BRAKES AND POWER ASSISTED STEERING ON TWO OCCASIONS ON SAME DAY WHILE BACKING AFTER STARTING. REMOVED POWER STEERING/POWER BRAKE CAP ON RESERVOIR WITH ENGINE NOT RUNNING AFTER THE SECOND OCCASION. FLUID BLEW OUT OF RESERVOIR (APPROXIMATELY 2-3 OUNCES). DID NOT DRIVE VEHICLE AT THAT TIME. NEXT TIME STARTED APPROX 8 HOURS LATER, NO FURTHER PROBLEM. DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE PROBLEM THE NEXT DAY. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE UNKNOWN REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH A CURRENT MILEAGE OF 33,500 MILES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON ITS THIRD SET OF WHEEL BEARINGS. EACH TIME THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE WHEEL BEARINGS THE WHEELS WOULD MAKE A GRINDING NOISE, AND THE STEERING WOULD BECOME VERY SHAKY. DURING THE LAST OCCURRENCE, THE ABS LIGHT TURNED ON, AND THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES FAILED. EACH OF THE THREE FAILURES OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. THE WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE BEARING AND FIXED THE BRAKES, BUT COULD NOT GIVE A REASON FOR THE WHEEL BEARING FAILURE.
STEERING COLUMN FELT LOOSE - DEALERSHIP GREASED IT - IT APPEARS THIS WILL BE AN EVERY 10,000 MILES EXPENSE. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO ADMIT THE BEAM SHAKE EXISTS THAT I HAVE JUST LOOKED UP AND SAYS THEY DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS CAUSES THE MIRRORS TO BE UNUSABLE. POWER STEERING PUMP IS MAKING NOISES WHILE TURNING THE WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO ONE DIRECTION. LIFTERS ARE CLATTERING ALL THE TIME WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN. *JB
"SERVICE 4WD" ERROR CODE SHOWS UP ON DASH DISPLAY WHEN DRIVING THROUGH MUD AND WATER PUDDLES, THE VEHICLE ENTERS 4WD BEFORE ENTERING THE MUD/WATER BUT GOES BACK TO 2WD AFTER BEING IN THE MUD/WATER FOR A MINUTE OR TWO, ALSO THE 4WD PUSH BUTTON LIGHT FLASHES WHEN CODE IS SHOWING. AFTER LETTING THE VEHICLE DRY OUT, THE "SERVICE 4WD" ERROR MESSAGE DOES NOT APPEAR. I NEED THE 4WD ALL THE TIME IN THE MUD, NOT WHEN IT FEELS LIKE WORKING.
LITTLE OR NO POWER STEERING AT IDLE ENGINE SPEED. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER IN COLD WEATHER. ALL POWER STEERING PARTS INCLUDING PUMP, GEARBOX, PRESSURE VALVE ETC. HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY DEALER. MANUFACTURER HAS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT NO CORRECTION WITH THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED. VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION IN TIGHT PARKING SITUATIONS ETC. *TR
PAINT CORRODED AROUND 3RD BRAKE LIGHT DEALER (CHEVY) WHERE PURCHASED IS OUT OF BUSINESS. PAINT DEFAULT? *TR
THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER, BILL HOOD AUTOMOTIVE, FOR A TOTAL OF 11 TIMES SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED IN MAY 2006. BETWEEN MAY 29, 2006 AND DECEMBER 2006, THERE WERE SEVERAL VISITS FOR VARIOUS PROBLEMS. STARTING IN DECEMBER 2006, THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE RUNNING HOT. PARTS WERE REPLACED ON EACH VISIT THEREAFTER. ON JANUARY 20, 2007, THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE. *JB THE CONSUMER WANTS TO CHECK ON THE STATUS OF THE COMPLAINT. *TR
POWER STEERING & BRAKES FAILED. STARTED TRUCK IN MORNING, PUT IN REVERSE AND COULD NOT STOP VEHICLE NOR STEER. PLACED IN NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO STOP. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CHEV. DEALER, THEY CHECKED AND STATED NOTHING WAS WRONG. BRAKES AND STEERING WORKED AFTER CAR WAS WARMED UP FOR 30 MINUTES. THIS HAPPENED IN YUMA ARIZONA AREA, AND OUTSIDE TEMP AT TIME OF FAILURE WAS 40'S. *NM
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO, IT IS LEANING VERY BADLY TO THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE IS NOT DAMAGED, BENT, OR WARPED IN ANY WAY. I WAS TOLD IT WAS JUST BUILT "THAT BADLY, AND SHOULD HAVE NEVER PASSED AN INSPECTION OF ANY KIND". THE DEALERSHIP FIRST TRIED TO USE THE SLACK ADJUSTER BARS THAT ARE MADE TO ADJUST THIS KIND OF PROBLEM. THIS FIX DID NOT WORK SINCE IT WAS LEANING SO BADLY. THEY ORDERED SPECIAL PARTS (A SHIM AND LONGER U-BOLTS) AND INSTALLED THEM A COUPLE DAYS LATER. THIS ALSO DID NOT COME EVEN CLOSE TO FIXING THE PROBLEM, AND I WAS ONCE AGAIN SENT ON MY WAY. I AM NOW WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM GM, WHILE I AM STILL BEING FORCED TO DRIVE MY UNSAFE VEHICLE WHICH I FEEL IS AT GREAT RISK FOR A ROLLOVER. *JB
PURCHASED 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1/2 TON PICKUP TRUCK NEW. AT 2400 MILES, I STARTED EXPERIENCING A PULSATING IN THE BRAKES THAT CREATED A SEVERE SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN THE BRAKES BECAME WARM. THE DEALER RESURFACED THE TWO FRONT ROTORS. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. AT 6500 MILES, THE DEALER STATED THE DRUMS WERE OUT OF ROUND AND REPLACED THEM. AT 13,000 MILES, PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED AND DEALER REPLACED FRONT ROTORS. AT 21,000 MILES, THE PROBLEM WAS STILL OCCURRING AND I INQUIRED WITH A DIFFERENT DEALER WHO TEST DROVE THE TRUCK AND SAID THEY HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER VEHICLES, INCLUDING THE IMPALA AUTOMOBILE AND STATED THAT THERE IS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. IN MAY OF 2008, I PLACED A CALL DIRECTLY TO GM'S CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RECEIVED A RETURN CALL FROM A GENTLEMAN WHO STATED HE WAS CALLING FROM ARGENTINA TO RESPOND TO MY COMPLAINT. ALL THAT ACCOMPLISHED WAS FOR HIM TO ARRANGE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH THE ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP FOR ANOTHER INSPECTION. AT 23,000 MILES, THE DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED THAT WHEN I AM DRIVING DOWN A STEEP INCLINE THAT GM ADVISES I SHOULD USE A LOWER GEAR TO HELP REDUCE THE VEHICLE SPEED AND NOT CREATE AN OVERHEATED CONDITION WHICH THEY SAY WAS CAUSING THE VIBRATION. THE VIBRATION OCCURS ON LEVEL GROUND AS WELL AS COMING DOWN A HILL AND IT IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY MORE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS OCCURS AND MAY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT IF THE BRAKES FAIL. *TR
FRONT SEATS ARE JUNK. YOU CAN FEEL THE SPRINGS IN THE BACKS POPPING. SEATS WOULD MAKE A POPPING SOUND WHEN YOU SHIFT YOUR WEIGHT THEY WERE NOT RIGHT WHEN I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK IN DEC '06. 2006 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500HD HAS DEVELOPED A TRANSMISSION COOLER LINE LEAK AT THE METALLIC COUPLER. VEHICLE ONLY HAS LESS THAN 50K MILES UNDER LIGHT LOAD CONDITIONS. NEVER TOWED ANYTHING OVER 3KLBS. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A VERY HIGH FAIL ITEM AND EVEN THEIR IMPROVED LINES ARE LEAKING AS WELL. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AND REPLACED AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER. *TR
MY 2006 SILVERADO AND 2002 GMC YUKON ARE BOTH MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT AND ALSO WHEN HITTING A BUMP. IS THERE ANYONE ELSE COMPLAINING OF THIS PROBLEM AND WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT.
THIS VEHICLE IS 9 MONTHS OLD. FROM PURCHASE OF THE NEW VEHICLE THERE WAS A RATTLING NOISE UNDER THE DASH - DEALERSHIP REPLACED FLEX PIPES. THE NOISE HAS COME BACK ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER. FROM PURCHASE OF THE NEW VEHICLE THE LEFT DRIVER SIDE MIRROR SHAKES, AM UNABLE TO SEE OUT OF IT. UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT, THE TRUCK SHAKES. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO ADMIT THESE PROBLEMS EXIST. THE VALVES ARE CLATTERING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHILE DRIVING, NOT JUST WITH ACCELERATING. ROTORS ACT AS THOUGH THEY ARE WARPED. UPON RESETTING THE OIL CHANGE INDICATOR LIGHT, THE BATTERY FAILED. I OWN A 2006 CHEVROLET PICKUP TRUCK AND FOUND THAT IF YOU TURN THE KEY ONE CLIP FORWARD YOU CAN PULL THE SHIFT LEVER INTO ANY GEAR INCLUDING NEUTRAL WITHOUT STEPPING ON THE BRAKE. I CHECKED AROUND AND FOUND THAT ANY CHEVROLET TRUCK, VAN OR PICKUP ALL THE WAY BACK TO 2003 WILL DO THE SAME THING. WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK 3 FEET LONG WHEN I SHUT THE DOOR AFTER REFILLING THE GAS TANK. THE DEFROSTER WAS RUNNING PRIOR TO STOPPING AT THE SERVICE STATION. THERE NO PRIOR DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD, AND I SAW THE CRACK APPEAR AFTER I GOT IN MY TRUCK AND SHUT THE DOOR. *NM

1. NEW STYLE HEADLIGHTS ON NEW CHEVY AND GMC PICKUPS ARE FINE AT A DISTANCE, BUT ARE BLINDING AS THEY APPROACH CLOSER FROM THE REAR. 2. NEWER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH "FOG" LIGHTS ARE A PROBLEM. THEY ARE TYPICALLY USED ALL THE TIME AND FREQUENTLY MIS-ALIGNED. THEY SHOULD BE REQUIRE TO DEFAULT TO THE "OFF" POSITION WHEN THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF. THIS WOULD PROBABLY ELIMINATE 95% OF THE USAGE AND THEREFORE, PROBLEMS. 3. THE NEW LED TAIL LIGHTS, PARTICULARLY ON LARGE TRUCKS ARE TOO BRIGHT. WHILE THEY MAY BE EFFECTIVE, YOU CANNOT TELL IF THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED OR NOT. 4. NEW HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE LIGHTS ON POLICE CARS ARE A PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND THEY HAVE DAY/NIGHT BRIGHTNESS SETTINGS. POLICE DO NOT USE THE NIGHT SETTING. WHEN APPROACHING ONE (OR MORE) STOPPED VEHICLES AT NIGHT, THE LIGHTS ARE SO BRIGHT THAT YOU CANNOT SEE THE ROAD BEYOND THE POLICE CAR, CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *JB

(PRO-YD-CS03-AM-BK_10-CL03PLEDG2JM ) HAVE THE WIRE FOR THE CORNER LEDS AND THE MAIN PROJECTOR BULBS SWAPPED, THE LEDS ARE WIRE WITH WHAT LOOKS LIKE CONDUCTOR RAPPED IN HIGH TEMP INSOLATION, AND THE PROJECTOR BULBS HAVE WHAT LOOK LIKE NORMAL BRIGHT BLUE INSOLATION THAT IS DISCOLORED ALMOST A YELLOW BROWNISH COLOR ON THE END THAT CLOSEST TO THE BULB, IT IS CLEAR THAT THE INSOLATION IS NOT RATED FOR THIS APP. AND IS A FIRE HAZARD.

I PURCHASED NEW A 2006 CHEV. SILVERADO 2500 TK (6 LITER ENG.), AT 1900 MILES THE TRANSMISSION FELT LIKE IT SLIPPED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER, UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION, YOU GET A HIGH PITCHED NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE PLANETARY GEARS OF THE TRANSMISSION AND GM INFORMED THEM THAT REPAIRS SHOULD NOT BE PERFORMED. MEANWHILE I STILL HAVE THE NOISE AND AM SERIOUSLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE DEPENDABILITY OF THE VEHICLE. *NM
MY 16 YR OLD SON AND 12 YR OLD SON WERE COMING HOME FROM SCHOOL ON 11/10/2006, MY 16 YR OLD WAS DRIVING, HE TOOK DRIVERS ED AND PASSED THE CLASS WITH AN A+. AND WHEN HE TOOK HIS DRIVING PART OF THE TEST HE PAST WITH A PERFECT SCORE THE FIRST TIME. HE ALSO RACED GOKARTS, SO HE KNEW HOW TO CONTROL VEHICLES AND PREVENT WRECKS. WHEN THE WRECK HAPPENED, THE TRUCK JUST WENT UP AN EMBANKMENT, AND WENT THROW THE AIR AND HIT A TREE AND PEALED THE ROOF BACK LIKE IT WAS A TIN CAN. THERE WAS NO SKID MARKS, THE TIRE TRACKS WENT STRAIGHT UP THE BANK, LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. AND NOT ONE AIR BAG OPENED. THEY WERE LESS THAN A 1/4 OF A MILE FROM HOME. I WAS AT THE BUS STOP WAITING ON MY DAUGHTER, I HEARD THE WRECK AND THE ALARM FROM THE TRUCK WAS GOING OFF. I WENT TO THE SITE AND THE ALARM WAS STILL GOING OFF, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. MY 12YR OLD DIED ON SITE, MY 16 YR OLD DIED 4 DAYS LATER. I HAVE KNOWN SOMETHING CAUSED THE WRECK, BUT NOT SURE WHAT UNTIL NOW. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE FRONT AXLE PULSATES AND SHAKES WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. THE FAILURE OCCURS UNDER ANY ROAD CONDITIONS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 22,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
ON MY 2006 SILVERADO 3500, WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, AS THE VEHICLE SLOWS TO ABOUT 2-4MPH...THE ABS ACTIVATES AND THE STOPPING FORCE OF THE BRAKES IS REDUCED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO MISS THE INTENDED STOPPING POINT. I HAVE REPLACED BOTH FRONT HUB BEARINGS WHICH INCLUDES THE FRONT SENSORS AS OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THIS CURES THE PROBLEM YET THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THERE ARE 80,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, I HAVE OWNED SINCE NEW, THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS OR ABUSE. THERE ARE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, ABS LIGHTS OR ANYTHING INDICATING A FAULT. ON THE INTERNET, THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS JUST AS MINE. THESE VEHICLES ARE A PUBLIC SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE THERE IS OBVIOUSLY AN ACKNOWLEDGE PROBLEM DUE TO A RECALL OF PREVIOUS YEARS THAT USE THE SAME TECHNOLOGY. I FEEL THE MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO COME UP WITH A REMEDY FOR THIS DEFECT IN DESIGN. *TR
