DASH ABOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND PASSENGER AIR BAG CRACKING
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM FAILED UNEXPECTEDLY IN HIS VEHICLE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE WIRE HARNESS BURNED AND CAUSED THE RESISTOR TO FAIL. HE IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT HIS EXPENSE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 41,000.
2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO Z71, 18,355 MILES STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD TODAY AT 45 MPH, A/C ON HIGH SINCE IT WAS 90 DEGREE'S OUT AND OUT OF NO WHERE THE CAB STARTS FILLING UP WITH SMOKE AND A BURNING PLASTIC SMELL COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS AND FROM UNDER THE DASH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I QUICKLY PULLED OVER SHUT THE TRUCK OFF, TOOK THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION, POPPED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THE A/C WAS STILL ON AS I WAS GETTING OUT. I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD SEEN NOTHING. I WENT TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OPENED THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT AND SMOKE STARTED ROLLING. A PASSER BY STOPPED AND LUCKILY HAD A SOCKET SET SO I ASKED TO USE IT TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO GET THE A/C TO SHUT OFF. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED THE SAME TIME THE GENTLEMAN GOT BACK FROM GETTING HIS SOCKET SET OUT OF HIS CAR AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY FOR ME AS I WAS THROWING MY BELONGINGS OUT OF THE TRUCK IN ATTEMPT TO SAVE THEM FROM A FIRE. THE SMOKE STOPPED WHEN THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED AND THE A/C SHUT OFF. I CONTACTED THE DEALER SINCE THE TRUCK IS STILL UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY, THEY TOWED IT IN AND SAID THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN 2006-2009 GM FULLSIZE SUV'S & TRUCKS. THE BLOWER MOTORS BURN UP. I ASKED WHY THEY HAVEN'T BEEN RECALLED AND THE SERVICE GUY SAID HE WASN'T SURE. THEY REPLACED THE BLOWER MOTOR, BLOWER RESISTOR AND CONNECTOR. THE OLD PARTS WERE LITERALLY MELTED AND WERE ACTUALLY ON FIRE. IF I WOULD NOT HAVE THOUGHT TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY THE ENTIRE TRUCK WOULD HAVE BEEN BURNED OR SUFFERED SERIOUS WATER DAMAGE FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THIS COULD BE LIFE THREATENING TO PEOPLE WHO DO NOT KNOW TO UNHOOK THE BATTERY OR PEOPLE WHO PANIC IN SITUATIONS LIKE THIS. I PRAY THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN TO AN ELDERLY PERSON OR ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER. GM NEEDS TO PUT OUT A RECALL REGARDING THESE ISSUES. This 2007 Chevrolet Silverado has only 73,730 miles . The vehicle in question has an oil consumption issue and is available for inspection upon request. An oil consumption issue will lead to low oil and low oil pressure which can lead to a fire. Problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. Vehicle has been inspected by a certified automotive technician. Vehicle loses oil close to 100 miles and the add engine oil display on the Driver Information Center. Every trip that is close to 100 miles will cause oil consumption and the Add Engine Oil Will display. Vehicle was taken to a repair shop and i was informed that some Chevrolet Silverado Trucks engines will consume oil due to excessive amount of oil going to the pistons. The pistons result with damage to the piston rings and will need to be replaced. In the long run the engine will lose power start to smoke lose oil pressure and low compression which could lead to a fire .No recall was ever posted concerning this issue. I thought the consumption was due to viscosity breakdown until i noticed it got worse. I did some research and asked several silverado owners and they all had the same issue. I confirmed the issue when i took the vehicle to the technician.This vehicle only has 73,730 miles and i am the first owner.
DASHBOARD CRACKING
DASHBOARD PLASTIC IS CRACKING NEAR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THIS IS A VERY COMMON DEFECT IN SILVERADOS, TAHOE'S, DENALIS, ETC FROM THE YEARS 07-13. THE CONCERN (OTHER THAN POOR QUALITY) IS DEBRIS BREAKING LOOSE IN AN ACCIDENT IF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYS AND CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. GENERAL MOTORS DENIES THAT THIS IS A DEFECT AND IS CLAIMING THAT IT IS CAUSED BY THE OWNERS USING CLEANING PRODUCTS SUCH AS ARMOR ALL ON THEIR DASH. THIS IS, OF COURSE, NONSENSE. MANY OWNERS HAVE NEVER USED ANY CLEANING PRODUCTS AND STILL HAVE THE SAME CRACKS IN THE SAME PLACES. THE REAL PROBLEM IS A LACK OF TOLERANCE IN THE PLASTIC MOUNTING POINTS WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW ANY ROOM FOR EXPANSION/CONTRACTION IN THE HEAT AND COLD. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SLID TO A STOP. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE BACK AND NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER AND IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE CONTACT NO LONGER WANTS THE VEHICLE AND THE DEALER IS NOT INSTALLING ANY DIFFERENT PARTS. THE CONTACT IS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 14,000.
WE HAVE A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE PROBLEM IS THAT ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS ON THE DASH QUITS, THE RADIO, THE GAUGES, THE AIR CONDITIONER, AIR BAGS DON'T WORK, THE STABILITITRACK IS OFF, THE TRACTION CONTROL IS OFF,AND THE TRUCK SHUTS OFF. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED BUT THIS TIME A MESSAGE COMES ACROSS THE SPEEDOMETER THAT SAY ENGINE POWER REDUCED AND IT IS MISSING VERY BAD. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE ENGINE DID NOT MISS AND THAT MESSAGE DID NOT COME ACROSS THE SCREEN. THE PROBLEM RESOLVED ITS SELF THE FIRST TIME AND IT HAS BEEN A FEW MONTHS SINCE THE FIRST TIME THAT IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR
I WORK FOR THE MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES. WE OWN A 2007 CHEVY SILVERADO. WHILE THIS VEHICLE WAS SITTING, PARKED, WITH THE IGNITION OFF, THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR UNIT UNEXPECTEDLY EXPLODED CAUSING BOTH SEATBELTS TO INSTANTLY RETRACT AND LOCK UP. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, BUT ONE OF OUR STAFF WAS STANDING DIRECTLY NEXT TO THE TRUCK WITH THE DOOR OPEN WHEN THIS HAPPENED. HE SAID THE LOUD EXPLOSION SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT IF THE VEHICLE WSA DRIVEN UNDER 10 MPH, THE ABS FUNCTION ACTIVATED AND THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FAILED BY NOT DETECTING THE WHEELS TURNING. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE MADE A NOISE AND JERKED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO CLEANED THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. YEARS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS SLOW TO RESPOND AND REQUIRED GREAT FORCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AGAIN AND, AN HOUR LATER, INDICATED THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO GET THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS REMOVED TO CLEAN THEM. THE WHEEL SENSORS WERE PLACED BACK ON THE VEHICLE. IF THEY WERE DAMAGED, THE CONTACT WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS, IF THEY WERE DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND THE VEHICLE WAS HESITANT TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE AND NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE DEALER NOT TO MAKE ANY FURTHER REPAIRS UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION ACTUALLY FAILED. THE DEALER OBEYED THE MANUFACTURER. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 20,000.
THERE HAS NOT YET BEEN A FAILURE. THREE OF THE FOUR STEERING BALL JOINTS ARE LOOSE AND COULD FAIL AFTER ONLY 16,000 MILES ON MY 2007 CHEVY 1500 TRUCK. THE CHEVY DEALER WHERE PURCHASED WILL NOT MAKE WARRANTED REPAIRS. WHAT TO DO NEXT? *TR
THE DASH IS CRACKING IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT PLACES AN GM NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO PICKUP TRUCK. CONSUMER WOULD LIKE GM TO BUY BACK TRUCK BECAUSE OF DESIGN FLAWS AND SUSPECTED LEMON *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED ONSTAR ACTIVATED AND STATED THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER CALLED ONSTAR TO TELL THEM THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THE OPERATOR ASKED THE CONSUMER WERE THERE ANY LIGHTS ON THE DASH. THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON. THE OPERATOR ATTEMPTED TO INSTRUCT THE CONSUMER ON HOW TO RESET THE LIGHT, AND STATED IF IT DIDN'T CLEAR WITHIN TWO DAYS TO CALL BACK. WHEN THE CONSUMER PUT THE GEAR INTO DRIVE AND STARTED TO GO FORWARD, THERE WAS A TREMENDOUS EXPLOSION, DUST FILLED THE TRUCK AND ONSTAR CAME ON SAYING THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THEY VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. A WEEK LATER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP STATING THE EXPLOSION WAS CAUSED BY A POOR DESIGN IN THE GALLEYS IN THE FLOOR, THEY WENT FROM THE CENTER OF THE TRUCK TO THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR UNDER A RUBBER MATE. ONE OF THE GALLEYS WENT THROUGH A RUBBER GROMMET WHICH ALLOWED WATER TO LEAK INTO A COMPARTMENT STORING VERY HIGH PRESSURE COMPACT CYLINDERS FOR THE AIR BAG AND SEAT BELTS. THE WATER CAUSED CORROSION ON THE HIGH PRESSURE CYLINDERS AND CAUSED THE EXPLOSION. ALSO, THE TAILGATE LATCH WOULD NOT LATCH PROPERLY. THE DEALER FOUND THE PIVOTS HAD SEIZED. ON COLD STARTS, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HESITATE AND THEN A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD. THE DEALER FOUND A VALVE BODY BOLT BROKEN. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR HOUSING UNIT EXPLODED UNEXPECTEDLY. THE FAILURE CAUSED A LOUD POPPING NOISE DURING THE EXPLOSION. IMMEDIATELY, THE DRIVER PULLED OVER INTO A PARKING LOT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. ONSTAR CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONDED WITH AN INDICATION OF A FRONT END CRASH; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO CRASH AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND REMAINED LIT UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO CORROSION IN THE WIRING SYSTEM. THE PARTS FOR THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE AND THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN AND MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.
30 MINUTES AFTER IGNITION TURNED OFF AND PARKED AFTER DRIVING IN 4-WHEEL DOWN A 1/2 MILE SNOWY DRIVEWAY, MY 2007 SILVERADO DURAMAX 2500HD PICK-UP TRUCK WAS TOTALLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND BURNED TO A CRISP. FORENSIC FIRE INSPECTOR SAID IT STARTED IN FRONT RIGHT ENGINE COMPARTMENT; NO ARSON. FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT IT OUT; POLICE REPORT SAID NO ARSON. *TR
MY TRUCK WILL NOT START ALL THE TIME. 60 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING NEW TRUCK I STARTED HAVING MANY DEAD BATTERIES. I WAS RECEIVING EMAILS FROM ONSTAR AT SAME TIME TELLING ME THEY HAD DIAGNOSED MY TRUCK THE PRECEDING NIGHT. I ADVISED ONSTAR TO STAY OUT OF MY TRUCK BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. ABOUT 5 MONTHS LATER (NOVEMBER 2008) I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS AGAIN. I HAD ANOTHER DEAD BATTERY. LATEST HAPPENED 1/16/2009 TRUCK WOULD NOT START BUT BATTERY WAS FULLY CHARGED. I HAD TRUCK TAKEN TO DEALER. DEALER GOT IT STARTED AND SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY DID NOT FIX ANYTHING. I PICK UP TRUCK 1/20/2009. 1/21/2009 I STARTED TRUCK WITH MY REMOTE, GOT IN TRUCK, INSERTED KEY AND THEN TURNED OFF MOTOR. I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN AND TRUCK WOULD NOT START. I WAITED AN HOUR AND TRIED TRUCK AGAIN. THE TRUCK STARTED. I DROVE IT IMMEDIATELY TO A DIFFERENT DEALER. GM CALLED ME 1/23/2009 AND SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH MY TRUCK. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR 12 DIFFERENT TIMES. ONE TIME THE RADIO WAS OVERHEATED WHEN BATTERY WAS DEAD, BUT LATELY THE BATTERY IS NOT DEAD. THIS TRUCK IS PROVING TO BE VERY UNRELIABLE AND I AM VERY FRUSTRATED. CAN YOU HELP ME! *TR
BATTERY CHARGING AT INCORRECT / INCONSISTENT LEVELS, THE GAGE WILL SHOW BATTERY CHARGING AT 15 OR HIGHER AND SUDDENLY CHANGE TO 11 OR LOWER. VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND THE MECHANICS EITHER DO NOT CHECK IT OR FAIL TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. TODAY THE DEALER PROVIDED A BULLETIN STATING THAT THIS IS NORMAL. THIS BULLETIN IS DATED JULY 2008; HOWEVER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEVERAL TIMES SINCE FOR THIS ISSUE. ADDITIONAL ISSUE IS THE BACK UP WARNING FEATURE; THE VEHICLE HAS SENSORS THAT NOTIFY THE DRIVER WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TOO CLOSE TO AN OBJECT, THE SENSORS EITHER FAIL TO WORK ALTOGETHER OR SIGNALS THE DRIVER WHEN IT IS TOO LATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUSE BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE DASH IS CRACKED ALL OVER POSING A SAFETY HAZARD IF A WRECK OCCURRED. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW IN 2007 AND THE CRACKING STARTED HAPPENING ABOUT ONE YEAR LATER AND WORSENED OVER TIME.
WE BY A 2007 SILVERADO , IN BROWNSVILLE TX, 2008 NEW , ABOUT 5000 MILES START W/ PULSATION AND BRAKE PROBLEMS, WE TAKE TO THE DEALER AND THEY CHANGE 3 TIME THE DISC BRAKES, AND BRAKES PADS ,, TIRES AND CHIMES AND STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER REMEDIED THE ONSTAR ISSUE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER FINALLY STATED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT WITH THE STARTER. THE CONTACT MUST CALL THE MANUFACTURER IN REGARDS TO THE STARTER DEFECT. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
THE SPEAKER IN THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR STARTED BUZZING, AND AFTER A FEW MONTHS IT HAD SPREAD TO ALL FOUR SPEAKERS. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY WON'T REPAIR IT EVEN THOUGH IT IS A WELL KNOWN AND FREQUENTLY OCCURRING PROBLEM. THIS TRUCK IS ONLY 2 AND 1/2 YEARS OLD. WHY HASN'T THE ABOVE ADMINISTRATION DONE SOMETHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM? MY OWN PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE IS ON THE LIST OF COMPLAINTS AS I HAVE ALREADY FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA, BUT TO NO AVAIL.THE GM MANUFACTURES HAVE SOLD THE CONSUMER A BILL OF GOODS. FROM READING THE LIST OF COMPLAINTS IT LEADS ONE TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THE CONSUMER HAS PURCHASED A PILE OF JUNK.THE QUALITY OF THE VEHICLES ARE BASED ON THE QUALITY OF PARTS PUT INTO THE VEHICLE WHEN IT IS PUT TOGETHER. IF YOU NEED TO PULL A LITTLE HARD ON THE DOOR HANDLE TO OPEN THE DOOR BECAUSE IT HAS SNOW OR ICE ON IT (OR IT IS JUST LOCKED), IT BREAKS OFF. THE HANDLES ARE MADE OF PLASTIC. WIRES UNDERNEATH DASH OF MY 2007 SILVERADO CREW CAB CAUGHT ON FIRE ON 10/28/08. SMOKE CAME POURING OUT OF THE DASH. CALLED DEALER AND HAD THEM TOW VEHICLE TO JOHN MEGAL CHEVY IN DAWSONVILLE, GA. TORE DASH APART ONLY TO CLAIM THAT THE INSTALLATION OF AN AFTER MARKET BRAKE SYSTEM CAUSED THE FIRE. WOULD NOT COVER REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. HAD TO PAY $376.95 BEFORE THEY WOULD LET US MOVE THE TRUCK TO THE OTHER MECHANIC THAT INSTALLED THE BRAKE SYSTEM. AFTER MECHANIC THAT INSTALLED IT REVIEWED THE TRUCK, CLAIMED THAT IS SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. CLAIMS BRAKE SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED CORRECTLY. I SPOKE WITH 2 MORE INDEPENDENT TRAILER DEALERS AND THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS INSTALLED PROPERLY. JOHN MEGEL CHEVY WOULD NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY EVEN AFTER OUR RESEARCH AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS CONFIRMED. WE HAD TO PAY $1300 TO HAVE ALL WIRING REPLACED, $300 IN TRUCK RENTALS, $376.95 TO JOHN MEGEL. WE ARE OUT $2000 FOR SOMETHING THAT GM SHOULD HAVE HANDLED. HELLO- RECENTLY I HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WHILE DRIVING ALONG A MAJOR INTERSTATE. MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. NO COLLISION OCCURRED, THEY JUST WENT OFF WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH IN TRAFFIC. STASEK CHEVROLET DID A FINE JOB OF REPAIRING THE INTERIOR AND I RECEIVED MY VEHICLE BACK 3 WEEKS LATER. WHEN I ASKED THE SERVICE MGR. WHY IT HAPPENED, HE STATED HE DID NOT KNOW. I ASKED IF IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND I GOT THE SAME ANSWER.."I DON'T KNOW". MY DILEMMA AT THIS POINT IS THAT MY PERSONAL SAFETY(AS WELL AS MY FAMILIES) MAY BE AT RISK WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE IN THE FUTURE. THUMP AFTER COMING TO A STOP. AFTER ABOUT 24,000 MILES. I STARTED FEELING A LIGHT THUMP FROM THE REAR, AS IF SOMEONE BUMPED ME FROM BEHIND. OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS IT BECAME VERY NOTICEABLE, SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR INVESTIGATION. THE 1ST TIME, THEY SAID THE REAR-END HAD THE WRONG LUBE IN IT & THEY REPLACED IT. THIS SEEM TO WORK FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL WEEKS. THEN THE THUMP RETURNED LIGHTLY AT 1ST & GRADUALLY WORSENED TO A MAJOR THUMP. I RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER & THIS SECOND REPAIR WAS THAT THE LUBED THE REAR-END & REPLACED THE YOKE ON THE DRIVESHAFT. THIS REPAIR WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK & I STARTED FEELING THE LIGHT THUMP AGAIN. ON MY 2007 CHEVY SILVERADO I NOTICED THE FRONT TIRES WEARING BADLY ON THE INSIDE EVERYBODY SAID IT WAS THE ALIGNMENT. OVER THE PHONE AND IN PERSON THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND IT LOOK LIKE AN ALIGNMENT. HAD TIRES REPLACED AND ALIGNMENT CHECKED, BUT IT CAME OUT WITH IN SPECS. NEXT DAY FRONT BRAKES STARTED FAILING, CHEVY DEALER SAID WEAR AND TEAR. HAVING THE BRAKES LOOKED AT MECH TOLD ME THAT RIGHT PASS SIDE ROTOR WAS BEYOND REPAIR AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND THAT THE PAD HAD RIPPED FREE ON THE METAL BRACKET. WENT TO SHOP TO LOOK AND FOUND ALL PADS ARE RIPPING FREE FROM THE METAL CAUSING TOTAL BRAKE LOSS. PROBLEM FIXED BUT MECH. UNABLE TO BLEED SYSTEM PROPERLY DUE TO FAULTY OR CRACK MASTER CYLINDER. DEALER HAS PASSED IT ALL OFF AS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. NOW A COMPLAINT HAS BEEN FILLED THROUGH GMC CORP. THE TOTAL LOSS OF BREAK PAD ARE UNKNOWN TO THE DRIVE AND COME ON WITH OUT ANY WARNING AS THE BREAK PADS DO NOT HAVE ANY WARNING STOPS TO INFORM DRIVER OF WORN OUT BRAKE PADS I ONLY HAVE 18,500 MILES AND PURCHASED HE TRUCK NEW FROM DEALER IN QUESTION. *TR

WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 SILVERADO 1500 CLASSIC, I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES COMPLETELY LOCK UP. THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED IT CAUSED AND ACCIDENT, LUCKILY NO-ONE WAS INJURED. THIS HAPPENS ON A REGULAR BASIS, EVERY TIME THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED HARD. THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 5 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THE SAME RESULT IS GIVEN EACH TIME "OUR COMPUTER DOES NOT SHOW ANY CODES, SO NOTHING IS WRONG." THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGERS SIDE DOOR HANDLES WERE REPLACED TWICE UNDER WARRANTY. THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGERS SIDE DOOR HANDLES WERE ALSO REPLACED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF SUCH DEFECT AND WOULD PROVIDE NO ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,372 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.
2007 CHEVY 1500 SILVERADO PICKUP BUMPERS - THE BUMPERS ON THESE PICKUPS ARE INADEQUATE. I REALIZE THE AGENCY DOES NOT HAVE A STANDARD FOR PICKUPS. THIS SHOULD BE CHANGED. I BUMPED INTO ANOTHER TRUCK THIS EVENING TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. THE IMPACT HAD TO HAVE OCCURRED AT A MPH RANGE OF 1 TO 2 MPH AT THE MOST. I STOPPED AND INSPECTED FOR DAMAGE ON MY VEHICLE AS WELL AS THE OTHER PICKUP INVOLVED. NONE WAS INITIALLY SEEN, EVEN BY A WITNESS. HOWEVER, UPON FURTHER INSPECTION A WHILE LATE, A PORTION OF MY BUMPER (THE PLASTIC END CAPS) ARE NOW RUBBING AGAINST THE PAINT. I BARELY BUMPED ANOTHER VEHICLE, NOW I HAVE TO SHELL OVER $1000 TO FIX SOME DAMAGE. YOU CAN NOT EVEN SEE WHERE THE COLLISION OCCURRED (THE FACE OF THE BUMPER) ON MY VEHICLE, JUST THAT THE BUMPER IS BENT.
