TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT DETECTED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A 17 INCH SPARE TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER MOUNTED FOUR 18 INCH TIRES ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD CONCERN OF THE POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD WITH USAGE OF THE SPARE TIRE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
NOT MUCH FOR BRAKES ON THE INITIAL PUSH OF THE PEDAL BUT IF YOU PUMP THEM UP THEY ARE GOOD. REALLY BAD IN A EMERGENCY STOP OR WHEN YOU HAVE A LIGHT TRAILER ON THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE SEPARATE BRAKES ON TRAILER. I HAD IT BOTH ON 1500 4X4 08GMC AND ON THE SAME 09 CHEVY I HAVE NOW. *TR
NEW 2009 CHEVY SILVERADO PICKUP.THE TIRES FURNISHED ON A NEW TRUCK ARE DEFECTIVE. THIS WAS ADMITTED BY LARRY GREEN CHEVY DEALER LOCATED IN BLYTHE CA. THEY AGREED TO REPLACE THE 4 TIRES ON THE GROUND BECAUSE THE TIRES ARE COMING APART IN CHUNKS. THE TREAD FALLING APART. THEY SAID THE FULL SIZE SPARE WILL NOT BE REPLACED.AS THE SPARE IN THIS MODEL IS ROTATED ALONG WITH THE OTHER 4 TIRES IT IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED TOO. THEY WANT ME TO KNOWINGLY USE A DEFECTIVE TIRE. THIS AUTO HAS LESS THAN 3,000 MILES. *TR
THE DOOR JAM TO MY 2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EXTENDED CAB CONTINUOUSLY RATTLES AT LOW SPEEDS AND CAUSES AIR NOISE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE SERVICED THE VEHICLE THREE TIMES AND IT CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM. DURING SERVICE, THE HINGES, LATCH, AND SEALS WERE ALL REPLACED. *TW
VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE AFTER BEING PARKED FOR 2.5 OR SO HOURS IN DRIVEWAY. DETERMINED BY FIRE MARSHALL TO HAVE STARTED FROM A ECM IN RIGHT FRONT DASH AREA. FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED AND EXTINGUISHED FIRE WITH WATER INSTEAD OF FOAM BECAUSE "FOAM TANK WAS NOT OPERATIONAL AT THAT TIME". NO REPAIRS HAVE YET BEEN MADE TO THE VEHICLE DUE TO OUTSTANDING INSURANCE INVESTIGATION. *TR
VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY A MOTORCYCLE TRAVELING AROUND 50MPH IN THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT TIRE. THIS IS A 4 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS ONLY A 50CC MODEL SMALL MOTORCYCLE. THIS RESULTED IN THE SPINDLE BREAKING IN TWO AT THE POINT JUST BEHIND WHERE THE TIE ROD END CONNECTS RESULTING IN A LOSS OF STEERING ON THAT WHEEL. LUCKILY THE SILVERADO WAS ONLY TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT AND WAS SAFELY STOPPED IN A SHORT DISTANCE. THIS IS A HEAVY DUTY PART AND SHOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN. THE TIE ROD SHOULD HAVE BROKEN FIRST. *TR
THE BRAKE PEDAL BACK PRESSURE IS WEAK, SPONGY OR SOFT WHEN APPLIED. THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR BOARD FURTHER THAN NORMAL/ TRADITIONAL OF ALL MANUFACTURER VEHICLE MODELS THROUGH OUT PAST DECADES OF PRODUCTION. HAVE TO PUMP THIS VEHICLES BRAKE PEDAL MORE THAN TWICE IN ORDER TO OBTAIN SUFFICIENT BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE CONTROL OF VEHICLE'S BRAKES. FOR UNEXPECTED BRAKING, THE CURRENT BRAKING SYSTEM ON 1500 SILVERADO CHEVROLETS IS INADEQUATE FOR THE AVERAGE DRIVER WHICH POSSIBLY WILL RESULT WITH HARM TO OTHERS AND VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS DID NOT ALWAYS ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE BRAKE SWITCH WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5. THE CONSUMER STATED HE PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO ACTIVATE THE BRAKE LIGHTS. HE OBSERVED THE BRAKE LIGHTS USING THE GLASS WINDOWS. HE QUICKLY LET OFF THE PEDAL ABOUT 1/2 TO ONE INCH AND HE NOTICED THE LIGHTS WENT OUT BEFORE THE PEDAL WAS FULLY RELEASED. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE BRAKE SWITCH WAS DEFECTIVE.
ON MARCH 10, 2009 WE PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO FROM NU CAR CHEVROLET IN NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE. ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2009, WHILE ON VACATION IN OCEAN CITY, MD, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WITH US AND OUR TWO YOUNG CHILDREN (AGES 2 AND 5) INSIDE, STRAPPED IN THEIR CAR SEATS. WE WERE ABLE TO PULL THEM FROM THEIR CAR SEATS (TERRIFIED) AND GET A FIRE EXTINGUISHER FROM THE RESTAURANT WERE WE WERE PARKED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO NU CAR CHEVROLET ON SEPTEMBER 26, 2009 AND IT HAS REMAINED WITH THEM EVER SINCE. THE DEALERSHIP AND GENERAL MOTORS DETERMINED THE CAUSE TO BE A DEFECTIVE WIRING HARNESS AND HAS ADMITTED FAULT (THERE WAS NO AFTER MARKET WIRING IN THE VEHICLE AND NO PREVIOUS ACCIDENTS). AS OF TODAY, FEBRUARY 5, THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPAIR THE ISSUE AND ARE NOW GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH US TRYING TO GET US TO PAY MORE MONEY FOR A NEW VEHICLE SINCE THEY CAN'T FIND A 2009 REPLACEMENT MODEL. WE ARE REFUSING TO PAY ANY ADDITIONAL MONEY AND STATED THAT WE WILL ACCEPT A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE WITH SAME FEATURES AT NO COST OR WE WANT A FULL REFUND OF OUR VEHICLE PURCHASE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED, THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FLASH ON AND OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER APPROXIMATELY TWENTY TIMES BUT THE DEALER WAS UNSURE AS TO HOW TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM AND ADVISED THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL BECAUSE OF A NEW CHARGING SYSTEM. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHEN A SHORT PERSON USES THE HEAD-REST IT CAUSES THAT PERSON'S HEAD TO BEND TOO FAR FORWARD. THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE INJURY DUE TO SEPARATION OF THE NECK AND THE SPINE. SHE TURNED THE HEAD-REST AROUND TO PREVENT INJURY. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND RECEIVED THE SAME RESPONSE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,400. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 250.
WHILE PULLING ONTO I83 I PUSHED DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL TO QUICKLY ACCELERATE TO MERGE. THE PEDAL BECAME STUCK ON THE FLOOR MAT STICKING IT IN THE DOWN POSITION CAUSING THE TRUCK TO RAPIDLY ACCELERATE AFTER I LEFT MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD TO USE MY FEET TO PULL THE FLOOR MAT BACK TOWARDS THE SEAT TO RELEASE THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS, MOST RECENTLY NOVEMBER 20, 2012. *TR
TAKATA RECALL. THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN AIR BAG INCIDENT WITH THIS VEHICLE BUT IT IS DRIVEN DAILY AND FEEL UNSAFE WITH A DANGEROUS WEAPON IN MY FACE EVERY TIME IT IS OPERATED. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION FROM CHEVROLET THAT THE AIR BAGS ARE RECALLED. NOTICE CAME FROM NHTSA. CONTACT WITH LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER TOLD ME TO CALL A TOLL NUMBER AT GM BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY MONEY FROM TAKATA SO THEY COULD DO NOTHING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND MADE AN ABNORMAL TICKING NOISE. IN ADDITION, THE STABILITRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BREDEMANN CHEVROLET (1401 W DEMPSTER ST, PARK RIDGE, IL 60068, (847) 698-1234) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A CODE WAS FOUND ON CYLINDER 7. THE SPARK PLUG WIRE WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,500.
"TAKATA RECALL"
I HAVE A 2009 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 CREW 4X4. I RECENTLY HAD COLLISION BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. I COLLIDED WITH A TOYOTA CAMRY BACKING OUT OF A SPACE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE AISLE. WE BASICALLY HIT REAR CORNER TO REAR CORNER. MY COMPLAINT IS THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK ON SUCH A LOW SPEED COLLISION. VISUAL DAMAGE: RIGHT BUMPER END (3 PIECE OUTER BUMPER) IS BENT IN AND UP SLIGHTLY. REAR OF BED SIDE PANEL IS BENT IN AND UP SLIGHTLY REAR LIGHT IS CRACKED THERE IS A DENT(BUCKLE) IN THE BED SIDE PANEL ABOVE THE WHEEL WELL, ABOUT THE SIZE OF A HAND. 3 ESTIMATES: (1 DEALER, 1 PRIVATE SHOP, 1 GM PREFERRED COLLISION CENTER) PARTS NEEDED; NEW REAR BUMPER NEW BUMPER RE INFORCEMENT NEW TAIL LIGHT NEW TRUCK BED SIDE PANEL.(YES, THE WHOLE SIDE PANEL!) ESTIMATES FOR DAMAGE REPAIRS; $2600 DEALER $2600 PRIVATE $3200 GM AUTHORIZED COLLISION CENTER ABOUT 50/50 PARTS & LABOR THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE A TRAILER HITCH BRACE THAT IS MOST LIKELY BENT. DUE TO LIABILITY OF POTENTIAL FAILURE, ALL SAY IF THIS EVEN LOOKS DAMAGED, WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. ADD $400. DEALER AND GM COLLISION CENTER GEN MGR SAY THE BUMPER DESIGN OF THE NEW SILVERADO BODY STYLE "SUCKS"! THE CENTER SECTION OF THE BUMPER CAN TAKE DIRECT, FLUSH IPACT JUST FINE. THE END SECTIONS WILL BE DESTROYED IN EVEN A LOW SPEED IMPACT. THE KILLER IS THE DAMAGE TO THE SIDE BED PANELS. BECAUSE THE REAR OF PANEL IS A SINGLE WALL OF SHEET METAL, UN REINFORCED, IT BUCKLES LIKE FABRIC AT EVEN THE LIGHTEST TOUCH. YOU COULD BEND IT IN BY HAND IF YOU PUSH HARD ENOUGH. SINCE THERE IS NO WAY TO PULL OUT THIS PANEL DUE TO ITS UN REINFORCED SHEET METAL DESIGN, THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE REPAIR IS TO REPLACE THE WHOLE PANEL. THEY SELL THE TRUCK CHEAP! THEY MAKE A FORTUNE ON REPLACEMENT PARTS BECAUSE OF THE CHEAP DESIGN QUALITY. WORD TO THE WISE: GET THE REAR BACKING SENSORS! IT WILL SAVE YOU $3000. IT WOULDN'T HELP IN MY CASE AS I STILL HAD ANOTHER MOVING VEHICLE. NO FAULT COLLISION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUN VISORS DO NOT BLOCK THE SUN ADEQUATELY. HE FEELS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE VISIBILITY IS POOR AT SUNSET. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,006 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE ROTOR *TGW THREE WEEKS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE SERVICED FOR A FRONT ROTOR PROBLEM. SINCE THEN, THE ROTORS HAVE BEEN TURNED AND REPLACED. ON AUGUST 24, 2010 THEY WERE TURNED AGAIN. *JB
TAKATA RECALL, I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE RECALL TO REPLACE THE AIRBAGS ON MY TRUCK. AS YOU PROBABLY KNOW IT HAS BEEN AT LEAST TWO YEARS THAT WE RECEIVED THE NOTICE OF THE RECALL. I WAS JUST AT AIRBAG RECALL.COM AND IT TELLS ME ONLY THE PASSIGNER AIRBAG IS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE PROPELLANT WILL DEGRADE OVER TIME AND COULD RUPTURE AND CAUSE BODY HARM AND EVEN FATAL INJURY. SO WHY DOES NOT THE DRIVERS AIRBAG NEED TO BE CHANGED AS WELL? I KNOW THIS ISN'T THE ONLY COMPLAINT THAT YOU FOLKS HAVE RECEIVED ON THIS MATTER, AND AS DAYS GO BY WE THE PUBLIC ARE IN DANGER EACH TIME WE USE THE VEHICLE, TIS A SAD SITUATION.
