I HAVE SEEN YOUTUBE VIDEO'S/FORUMS ONLINE ABOUT THE 2009 MODEL YEAR SILVERADO'S INSTRUMENT GAUGE CLUSTER FAILING WHILE DRIVING, AS WELL AS MY OWN. VERY UNSAFE AND SCARY. HAPPENS ON STARTUP, DRIVING, AND PARKED. NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL DO IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED TO THE INCORRECT GEARS INDEPENDENTLY. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING, THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK INDEPENDENTLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
TAKATA RECALL. GM SAYS ON NHTSA WEB SITE THAT THEY CONSIDER MY TRUCK SAFE TO DRIVE ALL THEY DID WAS TURN THE AIR BAG OFF. WHICH MAKES A KEY SAFETY COMPONENT INOPERABLE THIS IS NOT EXCEPTABLE. AND THEY STILL CAN'T REPLACE THE INFLAITER, I AM FORCED TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE THIS IS ALSO UNEXCEPTABLE. MY QUESTION IS - IS THIS AN EXCEPTABLE REMEDY EVEN IF TEMPORARY TO THE NHTSA. I FEEL AS THOUGH GM HAS REPLACED ONE POTENTIAL TRAGEDY WITH ANOTHER. I AM CONSIDERING CONTACTING A LAWYER. MY VEHICLE IS NOT ALWAYS STATIONARY
CRACKING DASH IN CORNERS OF AIRBAG COMPARTMENT AND ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE DASH WAS REPLACED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM ONCE AND NOW THE REPLACEMENT DASH HAS CRACKED IN THE SAME SPOTS. I HAVE CONCERNS OF AIRBAG SAFETY.

THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. TRUCK HAS 46000 MILES ON IT. THE SENSOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS DEFECTIVE. IT COST $328 (WITH LABOR) TO REPLACE.
TAKATA RECALL- DASH IS CRACKING IN SEVERAL PLACES SURROUNDING THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. STARTED WHEN THE TRUCK HAD LESS THAN 70,000 MILES. (TRUCK NOW HAS ~109,000) ASIDE FROM THE DASH CRACKING ON A FAIRLY LOW MILEAGE AND VERY WELL KEPT AND MAINTAINED VEHICLE, THE SAFETY FEARS STEM FROM THE POSSIBILITY OF PIECES OF DASH FLYING APART AND STRIKING PASSENGERS IF THE AIRBAGS ARE EVER TO DEPLOY. OR IN A SUDDEN STOP, ETC... I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I CAN UPLOAD PHOTOS IF NECESSARY.
"TAKATA RECALL" THE AIRBAG SERVICE MAINTENANCE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY STARTED IT AND THE WARNING AIRBAG SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON STATING THE AIRBAG NEEDED MAINTENANCE. I DID NOT ASK FOR THIS I NEED THIS ISSUE ADDRESSED ASAP.

THE TRUCK WAS SITTING PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND MY NEIGHBOR NOTICED THAT THE LIGHTS AND WIPERS CAME ON (TRUCK WAS NOT ON, NO KEYS WERE IN IT, NOBODY WAS IN IT OR NEAR IT!). SMOKE THEN BEGAN TO BILLOW OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND A FIRE STARTED. MY NEIGHBOR WAS ABLE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO A GARAGE WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT THE FUSE PANEL CAUGHT ON FIRE. THEY CALLED GM AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE PART. DEALING WITH INSURANCE NOW.

MY SEATBELT WILL NOT STAY ENGAGED AT ALL TIMES.
AIRBAG LIGHT ON AIRBAGS DISABLED SAFETY CONCERN VEHICLE IS NOT AS POTENTIALLY AS SAFE AS IT WAS DESIGNED TO BE. THE SDM (AIRBAG MODULE) HAS WATER INTRUSION AND CAUSED CORROSION INSIDE THE SDM AND CAUSED THE CIRCUIT BOARD TO BURN OUT NO FUSES WERE BLOWN WHICH IS A CONCERN AS WELL BECAUSE THE BOARD HAD BURN COMPONENTS FROM THE WATER INTRUSION. GM HAD A PREVIOUS RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM IT APPEARS THIS VEHICLE HAD THE RECALL AS IT HAD THE JUTE FROM THE CARPET REMOVED FROM THIS AREA ABOVE THE SDM THIS RECALL WAS PURPOSIVELY A CANADA RECALL 09270C - MATERIAL OVER SENSING AND DIAGNOSTIC MODULE I TALKED TO GM ABOUT THIS THEY WILL DO NOTHING FOR THIS EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW OF A PROBLEM THIS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN NOT ONLY FOR THE AIRBAG BUT FOR THE MODULE BURNING UP THE CIRCUIT BOARD AS WELL POTENTIAL FIRE IN THE VEHICLE I WOULD LIKE IT FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURE

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (BRYAN CHEVROLET LOCATED IN KENNER, LA) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED AN UNKNOWN DEALER IN SWAINSBORO, GEORGIA AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS FOR THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE NISSAN MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOTIFY THE CONTACT WHEN THE PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
DASHBOARD IS STARTING TO CRACK AROUND AIRBAG COMPARTMENT AND SPLITTING ACROSS TO CENTER OF DASH. IF AIRBAG DEPLOYS COULD SEND SHARP OBJECTS FLYING INTO TRUCK CAB OR POSSIBLY PUNCTURE AIRBAG AS IT DEPLOYS. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS TRUCK AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS.00, 2009 ##
MY DASH WAS REPLACED AT 63000 MILES BECAUSE IT CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BY THE AIRBAG. NOW IT'S CRACKED AGAIN BY THE AIRBAG IN 2 PLACES THIS TIME. I TOOK IT BACK TO HENDRICK CHEVROLET AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE IT'S OUT OF THE 12 MONTHS 12000 MILE WARRANTY. I WOULD HAVE TO CALL CHEVROLET. I CALLED CHEVROLET AND TALKED TO A NICE LADY WHO TRANSFERRED ME TO A SENIOR ADVISOR WHO L EXPLAINED MY SITUATION AND CONCERN OVER SAFETY IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. SHE TOOK A SECOND AND THEY HAVE DONE TESTING AND THERE IS NO SAFETY ISSUE IS WHAT I WAS TOLD. THEN SHE CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AND CAME BACK WITH THE CUSTOMER HAS TO PAY 100 % TO FIX BECAUSE IT'S COSMETIC. I'VE LOOKED ONLINE AND IT LOOKS LIKE A HUGE PROBLEM EVERYWHERE. FOR MINE TO CRACK FOR THE 2ND TIME WITHIN 28000 MILES IS UNCALLED FOR. WHAT'S IT GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE GETTING SERIOUSLY INJURED BEFORE THEY DO SOMETHING OR FIX THE PROBLEM. LOOKS LIKE THERE GOING CHEAP AND TAKE A CHANCE. WE THE CUSTOMERS NEED ANY HELP WE CAN GET FOR CHEVROLET TO OWN UP TO THIS FLAW IN DESIGN AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.

AT ABOUT 90,000 MILES THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING AND WHEN IT IS WARM OUTSIDE THE PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR ELECTRICAL LOCK WILL NOT WORK. IT TRIES TO PUSH LOCK TO UNLOCK POSITION, BUT ONLY PUSHES IT HALF WAY. I HAVE READ A LOT ABOUT THESE CONCERNS ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE. IS THIS 2 RECALLS? IT SHOULD BE. THIS IS NOT A CHEAP FIX.
A FEW DAYS AGO WHILE DETAILING THE INTERIOR OF MY TRUCK, L NOTICED SEVERAL CRACKS IN THE DASH WHERE THE TAKATA AIRBAGS DEPLOY. I ONLY HAVE 69,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT. I TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL DELERSHIP & THE ADVISED IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY & NOTHING COULD BE DONE. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD, L JUST RECEIVED MY RECALL NOTICE OF THE DETERIORATING AIRBAG RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. I'M FEARFUL TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK FOR FEAR OF DASH PIECES & EARLY AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED YESTERDAY & L WAS ADVISED BY PAUL, A SERVICE WRITER, THE PARTS TO REPAIR THIS RECALL ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I ASKED ABOUT WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THE TAKATA INFLATORS AIRBAGS DEPLOYED & L OR PASSENGER WAS KILLED OR HURT? MY RESPONSE WAS THERE IS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE AT THIS TIME.
I HAVE VARIOUS CRACKS IN MY DASH. THERE IS A LARGE ONE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DASH. THIS ONE OCCURRED JUST THIS YEAR (2016). BUT THE OTHER IS MORE CONCERNING, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT IS UP AGAINST THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THIS ONE HAS EXISTED FOR SEVERAL YEARS (2014 OR EARLIER). I DIDN'T THINK ABOUT THIS BEING A PROBLEM UNTIL THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL CAME UP. I AM WORRIED THAT SHOULD I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, THAT THE CRACKED PLASTIC WILL BECOME LOOSE DEBRIS, AND CAUSE ADDITIONAL HARM TO ANY PASSENGERS. AN INTERESTING THING I'VE NOTICED IS A POPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE DASH. THIS OCCURS AFTER I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ON FOR A WHILE. WHEN I PERFORM A GOOGLE SEARCH, THIS SEEMS TO BE A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM. IN FACT, THERE IS A FACEBOOK GROUP THAT HAS ABOUT 5000 MEMBERS - HTTPS://WWW.FACEBOOK.COM/GROUPS/GMDASHCRACK/ - THIS IS HOW I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS WEBSITE. I AM UPLOADING 2 PICTURES. THE IMAGE ENDING IN 27, IS THE CENTER CRACK. YOU'LL NOTICE THAT IT IS SPLIT COMPLETELY FOR THE FULL DEPTH OF THAT PIECE. THE IMAGE ENDING IN 32, IS THE CRACK THAT SITS NEXT TO THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. I AM UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF THESE CRACKS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING OR NOT. THEY JUST SEEMED TO APPEAR OVER TIME.
I OWN A '09 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 PICKUP WITH AN INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER. MY DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER GAVE ME A WARNING "SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM". I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ABS/STABILITY CONTROL MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID IT WAS ON BACKORDER FROM GM. IT TURNS OUT THAT GM HAS NO ABS CONTROL MODULES (PART#25802684) IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY! WITH THIS MODULE BEING BAD IT CUTS POWER TO THE TRAILER BRAKES. YOU END UP WITH NO BRAKES ON ANY TRAILER YOU TOW THAT HAS ELECTRIC BRAKES. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WAS LUCKY THAT MY TRAILER WAS NOT CONNECTED AT THE TIME OF THE FAULT. IF I HAD BEEN TOWING MY CAMPER AND LOST BRAKING POWER TO IT, THE RESULT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. GM HAS NO FIX FOR THIS. I AND EVERY OTHER OWNER (A LOT) ARE STUCK WITH NO PARTS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE INVESTIGATE WHY GM LET THEIR STOCK IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY GO TO ZERO ON SUCH A CRITICAL SAFETY RELATED PART. I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR YEARS TO GET THE TAKATA AIR BAG REPLACED IN MY VEHICLE BUT THE DEALER REFUSES TO DO IT.

TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN JULY 2016. I HAVE CONTACTED A CHEVROLET DEALER ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION AFTER NOT HEARING ANYTHING MORE ABOUT THE RECALL IN NOVEMBER OF 2017. I WAS TOLD THE LAST TIME I CALLED THAT TESTING IS NOT COMPLETE AND THAT I WOULD GET A LETTER FROM GM AFTER ALL TESTS ARE COMPLETE. IS THIS CORRECT OR AM I GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM THIS DEALER?

TAKATA RECALL - IT'S BEEN 3 YEARS SINCE I RECEIVED MY NOTICE OF RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS IN MY 2009 SILVERADO. NOW THAT MY TRUCK IS OLDER THIS CONCERNS ME EVEN MORE THAT NO FIX HAS BEEN MADE AVAILABLE. I WANT TO GO ON RECORD THAT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE PRACTICE AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED ASAP. ALSO MY DASH ON THE PAX SIDE IS CRACKED AT THE AIRBAG CUT OUT, WHICH I'VE READ THAT THIS IS ALSO A COMMON PROBLEM AND A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE RIDER. PLEASE PLEASE MAKE THESE PARTS AVAILABLE SOON. GOT A SAFETY RECALL IN JULY OF 2016 ABOUT THE TAKATA AIR BAGS.AS OF THIS DATE 03/14/2020 NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PART.
