LOSE BRAKING POWER ON THE 2ND APPLICATION AT A LOW SPEED. HAD AN ACCIDENT TRYING TO SLOW DOWN COMING TO AN INTERSECTION DUE TO LOW TO NO STOPPING POWER.
WHEN MOVING SLOWLY BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES HARD TO PUSH MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STOP IN POSITION OF DRIVE UP WINDOW OR PARKING.
AT A GAS STATION MOVING TO PARK, WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T STOP UNTIL I PRESSED VERY VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL.
WHILE TURNING ONTO A ROAD, I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL APPROXIMATELY 20% AND SUDDENLY THE STEERING WHEEL KICKED BACK HARD NEARLY BREAKING MY WRIST. ONCE I PULLED OFF I WAS ABLE TO REPEAT THE PROCESS SEVERAL TIMES IN EITHER DIRECTION, I HAVE VIDEO OF THIS ISSUE. WHEN IT KICKED BACK, I WOULD LOSE ALL ELECTRICAL POWER TO DASH INSTRUMENTATION AND ALSO UPON POWER COMING BACK ON, I WOULD GET STABILITRAK ERRORS AND THE VEHICLE AND TRACTION CONTROLLED WOULD BE TURNED OFF.
BRAKES GO OUT WHEN BACKING UP OR AT LOW SPEED
APRIL 2019 LETTER FROM GM SAYING MY BRAKES COULD POSSIBLY LOOSE THEIR VACUUM ASSIST. THEY DO NOT WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS I HAVE PROBLEMS AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 6 YEARS AND 72,000. WHAT A COP OUT, WHAT IF MY BRAKES DO NOT WORK PROPERLY IN A TIGHT STOPPING SITUATION? I HAVE ATTACHED A COPY OF THE LETTER, PLEASE DO NOT LET GM PLAY WITH OUR SAFETY ON A $52,000 VEHICLE OR ANY VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING, I HAD THE REAR DEFROSTER ON. I SMELLED BURNING PLASTIC, SO I ROLLED-DOWN MY WINDOWS TO VENT THE FUMES. ABOUT 2 MINUTES AFTER I ROLLED THEM BACK UP I HEARD A LOUD 'BANG' AND SAW THAT MY REAR WINDSHIELD, ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED, WITH A FIST-SIZED HOLE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE PARKING OR REVERSING THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD, BUT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE ADEQUATELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUMMIT CHEVROLET BUICK GMC (LOCATED AT 318 GRANT AVE, AUBURN, NY 13021, (315) 258-2000) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE OR DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT EMPHASIZED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT EXTREMELY SLOW SPEEDS. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED DUE TO THE ONGOING INVESTIGATION, NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE18012 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC), LINKED TO SIMILAR VEHICLES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
WHEN I PUT THE TRUCK IN DRIVE TO MOVE FORWARD THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. I PRESSED VERY HARD ON THE BRAKES TO GET IT TO STOP. I THEN PLACE THE TRUCK IN PARK AND TRIED AGAIN TO MOVE BACKWARDS. THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO PRESS AS HARD AS I COULD TO GET IT TO STOP. ALMOST HIT A BUILDING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 2 OTHER OCCASIONS IN A PARKING LOT AND PULLING OUT ONTO A MAIN ROAD FROM A DRIVEWAY. WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART THEN THE BRAKES WILL ENGAGE AND WORK PROPERLY. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM.
WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS (ESTIMATE <10MPH, USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN PARKING), WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES STIFF, DOES NOT DEPRESS AS USUAL, DO NOT APPLY FORCE PROPERLY, AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES MOVING. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE TIMES IN BOTH DRIVE AND REVERSE. THIS ISSUE HAS RESULTED IN BUMPING OBJECTS AND CARS.
WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PETAL BECOMES HARD AND STIFF AND WILL NOT STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AND IS VERY DANGEROUS.
I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH TRANSMISSION ISSUES SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THERE IS DIRT AND SAND INSIDE MY BRAKE LIGHTS, RUST UNDER THE SEATS, DIRT AND RUST UNDER THE DASH, BRAKE CALIPERS ARE HORRIBLY RUSTED AND PAINTED TO BE COVERED UP BY THE SELLING DEALERSHIP, WIRING ISSUES CONTINUE TO ARISE AND REPAIRED BY MY MECHANIC. TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM IS NOW FAILING. STEERING IS HAVING ISSUES NOW, EITHER BAD TIE RODS OR BAD CV JOINTS. I HAVE HAD COMPLETE LOSS OF ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING IN THE PAST. I SUSPECT THIS VEHICLE WAS IN A FLOOD AND THE DEALERSHIP COVERED IT UP. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS SINCE JANUARY OF 2019, AND I HAVE TEXT RECORDS STARTING APRIL 7TH 2019. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM A FAMILY MEMBER'S DEALERSHIP AND I BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THEY HAVE BEEN LESS THAN HELPFUL. SEEKING LEGAL HELP IS MY LAST RESORT.
LOST ABILITY TO BRAKE. HAD TO PRESS PEDAL VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND FELT TRUCK BRAKING IS NOT WORKING. MAY BE RELATED TO VACUUM PUMP FAILURE AND/OR BRAKING SYSTEM FAILURE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY STREET. WAITING TO TURN LEFT TO WAIT AT STOPLIGHT. WHEN GOING I COULDN'T TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. TRAFFIC WAS COMING FROM BOTH SIDES WHEN FAILURE OCCURRED. THE ONLY THING THAT SAVED MY LIFE WAS TO CONTINUE STRAIGHT THROUGH TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET. THIS INCIDENT COULD'VE KILLED ME IF WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
FACTORY INSTALLED RUNNING BOARDS BECOME UNATTACHED TO VEHICLE DUE TO HOLDING CLIP NUTS RUSTING AT WELD. LUCKILY PERSONAL INSPECTION (TO TRACK DOWN A NUISANCE RATTLE) FOUND FAILURE BEFORE IT BECAME UNATTACHED. CHEVY ONLY SOLUTION WAS FOR ME TO BUY NEW RUNNING BOARDS (WHICH PRIME CHEVROLET PARTS DEPARTMENT SAID CONTAINED THE SAME TYPE OF MOUNTING HARDWARE). NO INDIVIDUAL REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE OFFERED.
AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM LEAKS FROM COMPRESSORS AND CONDENSERS BECAUSE THE SYSTEM IS NOT ABLE TO CONTAIN THE PRESSURES. CHEVROLET HAS ISSUED TECHNICAL BULLETIN DUE TO THE LARGE NUMBER OF INCIDENT. PARTS ARE HARD TO LOCATE DUE TO THE NUMBER OF FAULTY PARTS BEING REPLACED.
BRAKE EFFORT DRASTICALLY INCREASED WHEN BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE. CAR WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP AND PEDAL WOULD NOT DEPRESS FURTHER.
VEHICLE BRAKES FAIL WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS. BRAKE PEDAL WILL NOT DEPRESS AND TRUCK WILL NOT STOP. FAILURES HAPPEN IN FORWARD AND REVERSED. PROBLEM IS REOCCURRING.
THE TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS, RADLES, AND PINGS UPON LIGHT ACCELERATION. IT HAS A DELAY BEFORE DOWN SHIFTING, IT OCCASIONALLY MAKES A LOUD CLUNK WHEN PUTTING INTO DRIVE I DONT KNOW IF THE AFM HAS PART IN THESE ISSUES. IF YOU DRIVE WITH HARD ACCELERATION THEN IT ONLY PINGS SOMETIMES AND KIND OF SOUNDS LIKE AN OLDER 80 MODEL V8 WITH A TIMING KNOCK. THIS TRUCK ONLY HAS 28K MILES ON IT AND IT HAD BEEN DOING IT FOR THE LAST 6K MILES. IF YOU MANUALLY SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION IT LIMITS THE ISSUE.
AC FAILURE OF NEWER CHEVROLET VEHICLES. AC LOSES FREON DUE TO POOR DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING OF AC SYSTEM. FREON LEAKS INTO ENVIRONMENT UNCONTROLLED. IF YOU CONTINUE TO ADD FREON TO BANDAGE FAULTY PARTS, ALL YOU DO IS CONTINUE TO LOSE FREON INTO THE ENVIRONMENT. GENERAL MOTORS KNOWS OF THIS FAILURE, BUT YET DOES NOTHING ABOUT IT. IT IS HAPPENING ACROSS SEVERAL OF THEIR VEHICLE'S. LEAKS ARE BAD ENOUGH THAT AC SYSTEM ONLY OPERATES FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS UNTIL IT NEEDS RECHARGING.
WHEN OPERATING VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES STIFF AND HARD TO PRESS DOWN. THIS CAUSES THE TRUCK TO CONTINUE MOVING AND EVEN CAUSED ME TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE CAUSING REAR DAMAGE TO THAT VEHICLE AND A SMALL DENT IN MY FRONT BUMPER. THIS ISSUE DOES NOT HAPPEN AT HIGH SPEEDS BUT 15MPH AND UNDER IT OCCURS.
WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED ITSELF OUT OF MY HAND, ALMOST BREAKING MY HAND AND LOCKED UP AND COULDN'T BE TURNED AT ALL. WHILE LOCKED UP IT FINALLY BROKE FREE FOR A BIT AND JERKED ITSELF OUT OF MY HANDS AGAIN. PUT IT INTO DRIVE TO PULL FORWARD SO I DIDN'T GET HIT BY OTHER VEHICLSE IN PARKING LOT TOO. IT DID THE SAME THING GOING FORWARD, JERKED ITSELF FROM MY HANDS, THE RADIO EVEN CHANGED STATIONS ON ITS OWN. DURING THIS THE DIC SHOWED A STABILITRAK NEEDS SERVICE MESSAGE AND WORKED OK ONCE I FINALLY GOT IT TO BACK OUT AND GO FORWARD AND AS LONG AS THE VEHICLE WASN'T SHUT OFF IT RAN OK, ABUT ONCE SHUTOFF, THE SAME ISSUES RETURNED EVERY TIME, EVEN AT THE CHEVROLET DEALER WHERE IT SITS NOW IN MISSION, TX THESE EVENTS OCCURRED WHILE STATIONARY AND ALSO WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHICH IS DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS. ON MY 2016 SILVERADO 1500 WHEN I AM AT SLOW SPEEDS AND PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL IT DOES NOT STOP THE TRUCK. THE PEDAL BECOMES EXTREMELY STIFF AND THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE TRUCK IS THE EMERGENCY BRAKE OR USING BOTH FEET PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH ALL MY FORCE. I HAVE FOUND BY MY DEALER THAT IT IS A FAULTY VACUUM PUMP ALSO NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
I was pulling up behind a vehicle that was entering the highway when I noticed that the driver had to yield to oncoming traffic and did not continue driving. I applied my brakes, but the vehicle did not come to a complete stop, and as a result, I struck the vehicle in front of me. My safety was put at risk, as this could have resulted in a major accident. Additionally, my car insurance premiums increased because of this incident. I was never informed about the recall, nor did I receive any phone calls or mail notifications regarding it. I only became aware of the recall recently after seeing posts on social media, which prompted me to contact my dealership. Upon doing so, I was advised that my vehicle does in fact have an active recall. I don't have any warning lamps or anything advising me of this issue.
The contact owns 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware of rust to the sub frame and there were horizontal lines to the sub frame which became progressively worse overtime. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contract was informed that wax could be added to the rust and that the contact had to pay for the repair. The contact was informed that the failure was not under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 19-NA-255 (Wax Coating on Frame Peeling, Metal Shows Corrosion/Rusting); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,681.
DRIVING AT 2 MILES AN HOUR OR 65 MILES AN HOUR I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH A BAD VIBRATION AND A SHAKING COMING UNKNOWN SOURCE. IT FEELS LIKE I'M HITTING POTHOLES THAT ARE A FOOT DEEP WHEN TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD IT HAPPENS IN VARIOUS TIMES I COULD BE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT SCARES ME TO THE POINT WHERE I HAVE TO PULL OVER THE VIBRATION IS IN A FLOORBOARD THE GAS PEDAL THE BRAKE PEDAL IT CONTINUES TO GET WORSE EVERYDAY I'VE HAD IT TO THE SHOP ONE TO TWO TIMES A MONTH FOR OVER A YEAR. WHEN TRAVELING ON A REGULAR COUNTY ROAD IT HAPPENS IT HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY IT HAPPENS IN PARKING LOTS THE VIBRATION THAT I'M FEELING FROM THE FLOORBOARD INTO THE GAS PEDAL THE BRAKE PEDAL IS A ALL-THE-TIME THING AT A IDLE IT HAS A BAD VIBRATION COMING FROM THE MOTOR THE SHOP CANNOT FIND OUT NONE OF MY PROBLEMS I'VE HAD IT IN THE SHOP AND SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON IN AND NO ONE SOURCE OF VIBRATION AND UNKNOWN SOURCE OF WHY IT FEELS LIKE I HAVE A FLAT SPOT WHERE I'M HITTING POTHOLES ALL THE TIME FROM THE FRONT END I'VE HAD THREE SETS OF TIRES ON IT
WHILE DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED, APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH PREPARING TO COME TO A STOP ON A LITTLE USED STREET, THE VEHICLE INSTANTLY DIED. THERE WAS NO POWER AND NO WARNING AT ALL. ALL ELECTRICAL POWER WAS GONE AND THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY OFF. THE INSTRUMENTATION PANEL COMPLETELY LOST ALL POWER AT THE SAME TIME THE ENGINE TURNED OFF COMPLETELY. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, PLACED IT IN PARK, TURNED THE IGNITION ON AND HAD NO POWER. TURNED IT OFF AGAIN, THEN BACK ON. THE INSTRUMENTATION PANEL LIT UP, GAUGES WENT HAYWIRE THEN THE DISPLAY READ *OPEN THEN CLOSE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW*. I DID THAT, THEN THE VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP AGAIN AND HAS DRIVEN NORMALLY SINCE. IF THAT WERE TO HAPPEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AT HIGH SPEED, THE OBVIOUS COULD OCCUR.
AS OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE, I'M SITTING IN THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT NOW WAITING FOR A NEW VACUUM PUMP TO BE INSTALLED BECAUSE MY TRUCK WILL NOT STOP AT LOW SPEEDS PULLING IN OR BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACES OR DRIVEWAY. WAITING ON ACTUAL PRICE BUT POSSIBLY $700 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED.
WHEN MOVING AT SLOW SPEEDS (PARKING LOTS, STAND STILL TRAFFIC) THE BRAKES LOSE ASSISTANCE CAUSING THE PEDAL TO BECOME EXTREMELY STIFF AND DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS RESULTING IN THE TRUCK BEING ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING CONSISTENTLY FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW.
LOSS IN BREAK POWER AT LOW RATE SPELL WHEN PARKING. FELT LIKE THE TRUCK LOST FULL POWER TO BREAK SYSTEM. ONLY HAPPENS WHEN PARKING. LOOKS TO BE A VACUUM PUMP FAILURE. FOUND NO RECALLS ON ISSUE AND SEEMS TO BE A DANGEROUS ISSUE
BRAKES ARE HARD AT LOW SPEED. PRESSING THE BRAKE AT LOW SPEED MAKE IT VERY HARD FOR CAR TO STOP. NO LIGHTS TURN ON THE DASH AT THE TIME OF THIS ISSUE. THIS HAPPENS MOST DURING STOP AND GO TRAFFIC OR WHEN IN A PARKING LOT OF A STORE WHERE CAR IS TRAVELING AT LOW SPEED
POWER BRAKING FAILURE. BRAKE BOOSTER/VACUUM PUMP HAS FAILURE WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS (BACKING/PULLING INTO PARKING SPOTS, DRIVING IN STOP & GO TRAFFIC, ETC.). THE BRAKE PEDAL STIFFENS UP, AND AN IMMENSE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE IS NEEDED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECREATE THIS ISSUE MANY TIMES IN THE PAST COUPLE DAYS, AS HAS THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM. THIS IS SIMILAR TO WHEN A VEHICLE LOSES ALL ELECTRICAL POWER AND THE ABS IS NO LONGER ACTIVE. WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED (VERY HEAVILY), AND THE THE PEDAL STIFFENS UP, THE TRUCK STILL PROCEEDS TO MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARDS ANOTHER FOOT OR SO PRIOR TO FULLY STOPPING. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, AS I COMMONLY DRIVE IN STOP/GO TRAFFIC TO AND FROM WORK, AS WELL AS PARK IN A PARKING DECK BACKING UP TO EITHER OTHER VEHICLES, OR A CONCRETE WALL.
I HAD JUST GOTTEN HOME AFTER VISITING MY PARENTS WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES (1 HOUR AND 45 MINUTES) AWAY FROM MY HOUSE AND I HAD NO ISSUES ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY BRAKES. THE DRIVE WAS MOSTLY ALL HIGHWAY WITH AN AVERAGE SPEED LIMIT OF 65 AND 75 MPH. I WENT TO PARK MY TRUCK AT MY HOUSE IN WHICH I BACK INTO MY PARKING SPOT AT HOME. WHEN I WENT TO STOP, MY TRUCK'S BRAKES WORKED PROPERLY BUT WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE TO BACK INTO THE SPOT, THAT IS WHEN I WENT TO GO BREAK, THE BRAKES NEEDED MORE FORCE APPLIED TO THE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I THEN PUT MY TRUCK INTO DRIVE TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM WAS ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE OR ALL THE TIME. I DROVE IT A FEW FEET FORWARDS AND BACK A FEW TIMES AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. GENERAL MOTORS HAS ISSUED A DOCUMENT (PIT5361D) REGARDING THIS ISSUE BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. A NEW VACUUM PUMP WAS INSTALLED BY THE DEALER WHICH RESOLVED THE ISSUE BUT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
BACKING INTO A PARKING SPOT TODAY AT LOW SPEED (LESS THAN 5 MPH) THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME STIFF AS A BOARD AND WOULD NOT BUDGE WHEN PRESSED AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. MY TRUCK ROLLED BACK INTO A CLUSTER OF BUSHES AND FINALLY STOPPED. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD AND DANGEROUS ISSUE. A RECALL NEEDS TO TAKE PLACE ASAP! ALL OF MY INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A FAULTY VACCUUM THAT CONTROLS THE BREAKS THAT FAILS AT LOW SPEEDS. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS AND VERY CLOSE CALLS. GM NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS.
REAR WINDOW SHATTERED UNEXPECTEDLY. REAR DEFOGGER ENABLED. NOTED A BURNING SMELL IN REAR OF TRUCK WHEN IT HAPPENED. TRUCK HAS REAR POWER SLIDE WINDOW. DRIVER SIDE PANEL WAS THE PIECE THAT SHATTERED. TRUCK WAS PARKED BUT HAD BEEN RUNNING FOR A FEW MINUTES. TEMPERATURE IN MID 20S
WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS AND ON AN INCLINE, BRAKE PEDAL BECOME VERY HARD TO PUSH AND DO NOT WORK. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH GM. BASED ON ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE, MAJORITY OF THEM ARE FOR THE SAME REASON INVOLVING THE BRAKE ISSUE. EACH OCCASSION VEHICLE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS ON CITY STREETS AND WHEN GOING DOWN AN INCLINE AT LOW SPEEDS.
FAULTY AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER HAS CRACKED AT THE DRIVER SIDE WELD. THE SYSTEM NOW LEAKS AND DOES NOT COOL THE CAB OF THE TRUCK.
CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING REDUCED BRAKING CAPABILITY WHILE AT A LOW IDLE WHILE IN SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC AND BACKING UP. BRAKE PEDAL SEEMS TO GO TO THE FLOOR AND REQUIRED GREATER FORCE TO STOP VEHICLE.
POWER BRAKING FAILURE. BRAKE BOOSTER/VACUUM PUMP HAS FAILURE WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS (BACKING/PULLING INTO PARKING SPOTS, DRIVING IN STOP & GO TRAFFIC, ETC.). THE BRAKE PEDAL STIFFENS UP, AND AN IMMENSE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE IS NEEDED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECREATE THIS ISSUE MANY TIMES IN THE PAST COUPLE DAYS, AS HAS THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM. THIS IS SIMILAR TO WHEN A VEHICLE LOSES ALL ELECTRICAL POWER AND THE ABS IS NO LONGER ACTIVE. WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED (VERY HEAVILY), AND THE THE PEDAL STIFFENS UP, THE TRUCK STILL PROCEEDS TO MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARDS ANOTHER FOOT OR SO PRIOR TO FULLY STOPPING. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, AS I COMMONLY DRIVE IN STOP/GO TRAFFIC TO AND FROM WORK, AS WELL AS PARK IN A PARKING DECK BACKING UP TO EITHER OTHER VEHICLES, OR A CONCRETE WALL.
NEAR BRAKE FAILURE AT LOW SPEED LIKE COMING TO A STOP SIGN, GARAGE DOOR, ETC. VERY HARD TO PUSH PEDAL. ALMOST HIT SEVERAL CARS. TICKING NOISE IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
I have found that when pressing my brake pedal, it gets very very hard and the truck doesn’t want to stop unless I’m practically standing on the brake pedal. My mechanic has been through the entire system and believes the issue stems from a faulty Vacuum pump. This is apparently a standing recall for my 2016 Silverado but when I supply my vin number it says that I have no unrepaired recalls. At no point has Chevrolet ever notified me that this recall needed to be completed. But my problem is exactly the same as the problems noted on the recall
THE RADIO FAIL TO PROVIDE AUDIO WARNING WHEN THE KEY HAS BEEN LEFT IN THE IGNITION AND THE DOOR IS OPEN-DOOR WHEN THE DRIVER DOES NOT FASTEN THEIR SEAT BELT ,DRIVER IS AT GREATER RISK OF INJURY IN A CRASH. DRIVER CAN'T HEAR WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL AND RADIO WHEN DEAD .
ON TWO OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK PROPERLY CAUSING THE STOPPING DISTANCE TO DRAMATICALLY INCREASE. AS A RESULT I NARROWLY MISSED STRIKING OTHER VEHICLES ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE AVERAGE DRIVING SPEED WAS UNDER APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH. IN ORDER FOR THE BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE THE BRAKE PEDAL NEEDS TO BE DEPRESSED WITH MAXIMUM PRESSURE ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. A NOISE CAN ALSO BE HEARD WHICH I BELIEVED IS THE ABS. BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IS NOT LOW AND NO OBVIOUS BREAK LINE LEAKS WERE DETECTED. BRAKES APPAEAR TO FUNCTION PROPERLY AT NORMAL HIGHWAY AND DRIVING SPEEDS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE CONDENSER WAS LEAKING FREON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LEAK BEGAN A MONTH AGO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW CONDENSER AND VACUUM, AND THE FREON NEEDED TO BE REFILLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
THERE WAS A HISSING SOUND AND SMOKE IN THE AREA OF THE REAR POWER SLIDING WINDOW, I HAD READ ABOUT THIS CONCERN ONLINE AND WAS ABLE TO SHUT MY REAR DEFROSTER OFF BEFORE IT BLEW OUT THE BACK WINDOW BUT NOT EVERYONE IS THAT LUCKY. GM HAS A BULLETIN ABOUT A SMALL WATER LEAK IN THE SAME AREA BUT DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT IS RELATED TO THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERING. THE WATER LEAKS IN DIRECTLY ONTO THE POWER COMPONENTS OF THE GLASS, CREATES A SHORT THAT OVERHEATS THE GLASS, AND ULTIMATELY ENDS WITH THE REAR GLASS SHATTERING. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO CATCH MINE BEFORE IT BLEW OUT BUT THAT COULD CAUSE A HAZARD FOR ANYONE SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT, I DO NOT FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL BUT SOME SORT OF EXTENDED COVERAGE ON THIS COMPONENT FOR THOSE WHO EXPRESS THE SAME COMPLAINT. EVEN IF YOU CATCH IT BEFORE THE WINDOW BLOWS OUT, THE DAMAGE FROM THE SHORT IS ONLY FIXED BY REPLACING THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW ASSEMBLY (THAT IS WHAT THEY DID TO MINE). CONCERN COULD BE MOVING OR STATIONARY AS LONG AS THE REAR DEFROSTER IS IN USE. I WAS PARKING AND ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE THE BRAKES WEREN'T WORKING AT LOW SPEED. VACUUM PUMP FAILURE.

BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES HARD TO PRESS AT TIMES. PEDAL MUST BE PRESSED HARD TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO STOP. OCCURRED 02/14/19, ON A FEW OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. ALSO OCCURS WHEN LETTING FOOT ON AND OFF BRAKE PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES. ALMOST FEELS AS IF NO BRAKING POWER AT ALL, UNLESS PRESSED HARD TO THE FLOOR.
WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON A CITY STREET MOVING STRAIGHT FORWARD AND INCHING THE BRAKES TO MOVE WITH THE TRAFFIC FLOW I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL GOT VERY HARD AND THE VEHICLE WAS CONTINUING TO MOVE FORWARD EVEN THOUGH I HAD ALL MY WEIGHT PUSHING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL LIFTING MYSELF OFF MY SEAT THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO REACH ADEQUATE PARKING. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED GM SERVICE SHOP AND AFTER INSPECTION THEY INSTRUCTED ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE BRAKE SYSTEM VACUUM PUMP, THE BRAKE BOOSTER, BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE TUBING CONNECTING THE ITEMS. RESULTING IN A $1170.00 REPAIR AND THE SERVICE REP ALSO STATED THAT THIS WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE BUT CAUTIONED THE OIL AND FILTER CHANGES NEEDS TO BE MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURERS STANDARDS. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE ABOUT FIFTEEN DAYS AS OF THIS WRITING I DID BY IT FROM A DEALER WHOM SAID HE WAS UNAWARE OF THIS ISSUE. WHY IS THE NHTSA OR WHOM EVER CONTINUING TO LET THE DEALERS SELL THESES VEHICLES WITH A KNOWN SAFETY PROBLEM WITHOUT ADDRESSING THE PROPER REPAIRS STATED IN THE TSB PIT5361B THAT GM HAS SENT OUT TO THERE SERVICE CENTERS. SERIOUS ACCIDENTS COULD AND SHOULD BE PREVENTED WITH THIS ISSUE.

AT TIMES, WHILE MAKING A TURN, THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUE IN A STRAIGHT LINE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MIKE MAROONE CHEVROLET (230 N ACADEMY BLVD, COLORADO SPRINGS, CO 80909, (719) 888-5393), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,279.
