BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES ROCK HARD AND NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS OR ON AN INCLINE
MY 2016 CHEVROLET SILVERADO BRAKES BECOME VERY STIFF WHEN BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 3 SEPERATE OCCATIONS. I HAVE TO PHYSICALLY USE EVERY OUNCE OF STRENGTH I HAVE TO PRESS THE BRAKES TO STOP THE TRUCK. ON TWO OCCATIONS I ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR BUT STOPPED JUST INCHES AWAY. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN TAKEN TO PEP BOYS AND BRAKES PLUS IN DENVER, CO. BOTH COMPANIES CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. I'VE READ THAT THERE IS A LAWSUIT AGAINST GM FOR THIS PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON.
LOSS OF BRAKES AT LOW SPEEDS
AT LOW SPEED MY BRAKES SEEM TO HAVE FAILED. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY HARD AND I ALMOST DROVE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
VEHICLE LOOSES POWER, EXPERIENCE A TEMPORARY LOSS OF ELECTRIC STEERING (EPS) ASSIST FOLLOWED BY A SUDDEN RETURN OF EPS ASSIST, PARTICULARLY DURING LOW-SPEED TURNING MANEUVERS. THE LOSS AND SUDDEN RETURN OF EPS ASSIST TYPICALLY HAPPENS WITHIN A 1 SECOND PERIOD AND IS CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL/
AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR WENT OUT AND THERE IS DOCUMENTED FAILURE OF AC CONMPRESSORS FAILING ON THESE UNITS BUT NO RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THIS VEHICLE
HORN WILL NOT SOUND WHEN DEPRESSING STEERING WHEEL HORN BUTTON. THE HORN WILL SOUND WHEN USING KEY FOB TO LOCK THE DOORS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AND AT A STOP.
BRAKES FAIL TO STOP AT SLOW SPEEDS ( TRYING TO PARK OR IN A DRIVE THRU) DESPITE PUSHING BRAKES PEDAL TO FLOOR, BRAKE PADS ARE FINE STARTED AT 34,000 MILES NOW HAVE 52,000 HAS HAPPENED RANDOMLY. CHEVY STATES NOTHING WRONG WITH BRAKES. HOWEVER HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SAYS DIFFERENTLY BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T COME TO STOP LUCKY WAS BARELY MOVING. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE NOT BEING RESOLVED.
BRAKE PEDAL VERY STIFF WITH LITTLE TO NO BRAKING POWER. HAPPENS AT LOW SPEED BOTH IN FORWARD AND REVERSE. ALREADY HAD VACUUM PUMP REPLACED ON 01/25/2019. SAME ISSUE AGAIN ON 01/29/19. TAKING BACK TO MECHANIC.
BRAKES BECAME INCREDIBLY HARD AND ALMOST DID NOT STOP MY TRUCK THREE TIMES NOW. FINALLY, THIS LAST TIME THE SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST LIGHT CAME ON. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY TAKEN MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER TWICE AND THEY SAW NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I AM HOPING THEY WILL NOW THAT THE WARNING CAME ON. I HAVE COME VERY CLOSE TO HITTING OTHER CARS BECAUSE OF THIS AND HOPE IT CAN BE FIXED. THIS HAPPENED EVERY TIME AS I WAS PARKING MY TRUCK AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS (THANKFULLY).
I WAS DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY AT LOW SPEEDS. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL WAS VERY STIFF AND I HAD TO USE EXCESSIVE FORCE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I ALMOST HIT CAR IN FRONT OF ME. CHEVROLET DEALER DIAGNOSED A BAD VACUUM PUMP AND REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY. THIS MALFUNCTION IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AT SLOW SPEEDS WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MOVE. BRAKE PEDAL BECAME HARD TO DEPRESS AND WITH MORE PRESSURE THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE BAKING UP OUT OF A PARKING STALL, THE BRAKE BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS, WITH THE VEHICLE STOPPING AFTER PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH FORCE.
LOSE BRAKE ASSIST(?) UPON SITTING WITH FOOT ON BRAKE @ STOP LIGHT/PARKING LOT. PEDAL BECOMES HARD AND WILL NOT STOP. HAS NOT HAPPENED @ SPEED. HAD REPAIRED, SAID WAS VACUUM PUMP MALFUNCTION-$600. HAVE READ OF OTHER REPORTED MALFUNCTIONS OF SAME STYLE.
BRAKES IS HARD TO PUSH ON SLOW SPEED,I TAKED FOR A ALIGNMENT THE OTHER DAY AND THE MECHANIC ALMOST FELL THE RAILS, IS REALLY DANGEROUS DRIVING LIKE THAT, I SAW A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE,A RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE,
THE BRAKES BECAME REALLY HARD TO PRESS AND I ALMOST CRASHED INTO MY GARAGE. THIS SEEMS TO ONLY HAPPEN AT SLOW SPEEDS BUT IS GETTING WORSE. THE "SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST" LIGHT CAME ON. IT IS BELIEVED TO BE A FAILURE IN THE VACUUM PUMP.
WHEN DRIVING 2016 SILVERADO 1500, I PUT ON BRAKE AND LOST POWER TO STEERING. DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL. OTHER TIME WHEN TOUCHING THE BRAKE, LIGHTS GOT BRIGHTER ON TOUCH PAD FOR RADIO AND FOR OVER 200 MILES WHILE SOMEONE WAS IN PASSENGER SEAT, IT SAID PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS OFF. WHILE TURNING AND APPLYING BRAKE, LOOSE ALL STEERING. IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING. NOT SITTING STILL. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, 8 2AS TURNING IN THE DRIVEWAY AND LOST ALL POWER AND HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES 2 TIMES TO AVOID GOING INTO THE DITCH
WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS SUCH AS PARKING OR BACKING UP, I FREQUENTLY EXPERIENCE A VERY FIRM OR HARD BRAKE PEDAL. THIS RESULTS IN VERY LITTLE BRAKING ABILITY. THE PROBLEM IS BEGINNING TO BECOME NOTICEABLE WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THE PROBLEM MAY BE GETTING WORSE. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO A MAINTENANCE SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS NEEDING A VACUUM PUMP FOR THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR ARE ON BACKORDER AND IT IS NOT KNOWN HOW LONG THIS MAY TAKE. DUE TO THE PROBLEM BECOMING MORE FREQUENT I AM CURRENTLY NOT DRIVING MY VEHICLE UNTIL REPAIRS CAN BE MADE.
AT LOW SPEEDS THE BTAKING SYSTEM IS EXTREMELY HARD TO ENGAGE AND CREATES A NEED FOR AN UMEXPECTED LONGER STOP DISTANCE/TIME. THIS IS AN EXTREME HAZARD AND CAN EASILY CAUSE AN IN INCIDENT AND POSSIBLE INJIURY/FATALITY. IT GIVES A 'BRAKE ASSIST ERROR'WHEN THIS OCCURS.
WHILE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES WILL NOT ENGAGE WHEN THEY NEED TO IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP CORRECTLY. THIS HAPPENS MOST TIMES WHEN VEHICLE HAS JUST LET OFF THE BRAKE TO THEN ONCE AGAIN BRAKE QUICKLY, AND THE DRIVER WILL NEED TO PUSH THE BRAKE ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO ENGAGE PROPER BRAKING. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT WHEN IT DOES, IT IS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, OR WHILE THE DRIVER IS IN A DRIVE THRU, FOR EXAMPLE AT THE BANK. THE TYPE OF ROAD CONDITIONS HAVE NO AFFECT TO THIS, IT HAS HAPPENED ON SUNNY DAYS WHERE THE PAVEMENT IS DRY AND RAINY DAYS. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COMING TO A STOP WHILE IN A DOWN HILL POSITION WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC.
VEHICLE VIBRATES AND SHAKES SIGNIFICANTLY BETWEEN 60-75 MPH. HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE JANUARY 2019, TWO MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING USED VEHICLE FROM DEALERSHIP. CURRENT MILEAGE IS JUST OVER 52K. THERE ARE NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
SAME PROBLEMS OTHERS ARE HAVING WITH BREAKING, BREAKS GET HARD AND GO TO FLOOR, WHEN TRYING TO PARK OR BACKING UP TO A PARKING SPACE. NOT SURE WHY THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE IT'S A BIG SAFETY CONCERN.
LEAVING A CHIEFS GAME IN KANSAS CITY I WAS WAITING IN TRAFFIC. WE SLOWLY MOVED FORWARD AND MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE I RAN INTO THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME . THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO HIS BUMPER BUT I GOT A DENT THE SIZE OF A BASEBALL. LATER ON THE WAY HOME I RELISED THAT IT WAS STILL DOING IN AT LOW RPMS SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AMD THEY SAID MY VACUME PUMP WAS GOING OUT!! AT 45000 MILES???? THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM.
My truck starts shaking when I attempt to speed up or slow down, and it hesitates, shudders, and engages in a hard shift when changing gears. My mechanic could not fix it. Has been happening since Dec. 2018. Why is there no recall on this major issue?
BRAKE PEDAL GETS EXTREMELY HARD AND FEELS LIKE MAYBE ABS TRIES TO ACTIVATE AT TIMES. USUALLY AFTER PUSHING BRAKE PEDAL A COUPLE TIMES IN TRAFFIC OR PARKING LOTS. I'VE ALMOST DRIVEN INTO OTHER VEHICLES AND A BUILDING WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT NOW SEVERAL TIMES. TODAY WHILE COASTING DOWNHILL TOWARD A STOP LIGHT I ALMOST COULDN'T STOP AT THE LIGHT! THE TRUCK, A 2016 SILVERADO ONLY HAS 57K MILES ON IT. HOPEFULLY THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY WILL COVER WHATEVER IS GOING ON. I'M CALLING THE DEALERSHIP FIRST THING IN THE MORNING
WHEN APPLYING BREAK PRESSURE AT SLOW SPEEDS LET'S SAY UNDER 10MPH. IF BREAKS ARE PRESSED REPEATEDLY ALL BREAK FORCE IS LOST AND BREAK PEDAL BECOMES VERY HARD. BREAKS DO NOT BECOME USEABLE UNTIL YOU BEGIN TO ACCELERATE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND WHILE IN PARKING IS LOTS.
VEHICLE LOSES MOST TO ALL OF THE PRESSURE IN THE BRAKE PEDAL AT SLOWER SPEEDS OR IF COASTING (FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR) FOR SHORT PERIODS. BRAKING BECOMES EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND STOPPING DISTANCE DRASTICALLY INCREASES. SERVICE BRAKES MESSAGE COMES ON WHILE IN TRAFFIC AS WELL, BUT ONLY AS A SERVICE NOTICE, NOT A WARNING. THIS AS BEEN ON GOING SINCE JANUARY 2017, BUT HAS GOTTEN DRAMATICALLY WORSE OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING THROUGH CITY'S IN TRAFFIC AND PARKING LOTS AT SLOW SPEED. NO ACCIDENT TO REPORT, BUT TOO MANY NEAR MISSES TO COUNT. YESTERDAY WAS THE LATEST EVENT. ON THE INTERSTATE, IN TRAFFIC TRAVELING 0-15 MPH, IT TOOK A SOLID 5 FEET OR MORE TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM 10 MPH TO ZERO WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH BOTH FEET. I WAS NOT TOWING ANYTHING AND THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY LOADED WITH 5 PASSENGERS AND A SMALL AMOUNT OF LUGGAGE. ROADS WERE DRY AND THE TEMPERATURE WAS ROUGHLY 60 DEGREES F. PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU NEED MORE INFORMATION OR OTHER EVENTS.
THE BRAKE GETS HARD WHEN YOU PUSH IT DOWN, AND IT WONT STOP. WE WERE AT A POND LOOKING AT THE WILDLIFE JUST BARELY MOVING WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP FOR A MOMENT, HOWEVER THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. THE BRAKE FELT LIKE IT WAS ALL THE WAY DOWN AND WAS VERY HARD BUT YET, THE TRUCK KEPT ROLLING. I WAS IN A VERY BUSY CITY AND WAS SCARED THAT IT MIGHT NOT STOP IN TRAFFIC. I TRIED PUMPING THE BRAKES AND THAT MADE IT WORSE. I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID AND IT WAS WELL WITHIN THE NORMAL LEVEL. THE TRUCK SEEMED TO DO OK ON THE HIGHWAY AS WE WERE COMING HOME, AS LONG AS YOU DIDNT PUSH IT DOWN TWICE...IE, YOU HAD TO PUSH ONCE AND HOLD IT CAUSE IT WOULD GET HARD IF YOU LIFTED YOUR FOOT AND BRAKED SGAIN. THE PROBLEM WAS MOSTLY IN TOWN WHERE THERE WERE NUMEROUS TIMES YOU HAVE TO STOP FOR TRAFFIC, RED LIGHTS, TURNING, ETC... THE VEHICLE JUST WOULDN'T STOP. I HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS BEFORE I COULD GET IT HOME. THE CHEVROLET DEALER SAID IT WAS THE BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER? (MIGHT NOT HAVE SAID THAT AS HE DID) AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. THIS SEEMS LIKE FAULTY MANUFACTURING OR JUST A BAD PRODUCT THAT GM SHOULD HAVE RECALLED SO CONSUMERS COULD GET IT FIXED BEFORE ANY ACCIDENTS OCCURRED. I'M THANKFUL WE WEREN'T INJURED OR ANYONE ELSE, BUT THIS MAY NOT BE THE CASE FOR SOMEONE ELSE. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY BY GM AND THEY NEED TO MAKE IT RIGHT. I WILL BE GOING TO THE DEALER TO GET MY VEHICLE REPAIRED, BUT IT'S UNFAIR THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT GM SHOULD HAVE MADE RIGHT ALREADY.
WHEN I WAS PARKING MY TRUCK THE BRAKE WAS HARD TO PUSH. PULLING FORWARD HITTING THE BRAKE TOOK ALLOT OF EFFORT. BACKING INTO TO PARKING SPOT AND HITTING BRAKE TOOK ALLOT OF EFFORT. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. I ALMOST RAN INTO A POLE IN THE PARKING LOT AS I PULLED FORWARD. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED AT A LOW SPEED IN THE SITUATION OF ME PARKING.
2016 SILVERADO CREW CAB, 3RD ONE I HAVE PURCHASED FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. IN DECEMBER OF 2018 , WITH 57094 MILES ON IT, THE TRUCK HAD A POWER BRAKE FAILURE WHILE BEING PARKED. TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE LOCAL DEALER WHO SAID IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. PASSED ON HAVING THE WORKED DONE THERE AND BROUGHT IT TO MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP. THE BILL CAME TO $384.33, WHICH I PAID WITH A CREDIT CARD. ON MAY 7TH, 2019, I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FROM GM THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP ON THE 2016 SILVERADO. THE LETTER INSTRUCTED THOSE WHO HAD A REPAIR MADE ALREADY TO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IN ORDER TO RECEIVE PARTIAL/TOTAL REIMBURSEMENT: -NAME AND ADDRESS OF THE PERSON WHO PAID FOR THE REPAIR. -THE VIN NUMBER OF THE VEHICLE THAT WAS REPAIRED. -DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM, THE REPAIR PERFORMED AND WHO PERFORMED THE REPAIR. -THE TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIR EXPENSE THAT IS BEING REQUESTED. -PROOF OF PAYMENT FOR THE REPAIR IN QUESTION AND DATE OF PAYMENT. I WAS ABLE TO GATHER ALL THIS INFORMATION AND PRESENT IT TO THE DEALER FROM WHOM I HAD PURCHASE THE TRUCK. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE SIGNED CREDIT CARD RECEIPT THAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE BILL WAS NOT SUFFICIENT AS PROOF OF PAYMENT (WORKS WHEN I GO TO A RESTAURANT). THE DEALER STATED THAT GM REQUIRES A COPY OF MY CREDIT CARD BILL FOR THAT TIME PERIOD. THIS MEANS THEY WOULD ALSO HAVE MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER, A LIST OF EVERY PURCHASE I MADE IN THAT TIME PERIOD. WHAT PAYMENTS I HAD MADE AND ANY OUTSTANDING DEBT. I DECLINED TO GIVE THE DEALER THIS INFORMATION. CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WORKED UP TO THE SUPERVISOR LEVEL AND GOT THE SAME RESPONSE. THE WANTED MY CREDIT CARD STATEMENT. I TOLD THE SUPERVISOR THAT I THOUGHT THE REQUEST WAS VERY INTRUSIVE AND AGAIN, DECLINED TO PROVIDE IT.
POWER BRAKE FAILURE. LOST BRAKES PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE. PARKING SPACE BARRIER STOPPED THE TRUCK. BRAKES BEGAN TO WORK AGAIN AFTER LETTING TRUCK SIT AND RESTART ENGINE. VERY DANGEROUS! TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND THEY FOUND THE VACUUM PUMP FAILED INTERNALLY. DEALER WOULD NOT COVER REPAIRS FOR FAULTY VACUUM PUMP DESPITE SAFETY ISSUE. TOTAL COST WAS $724+TAX. ONLY 43,000 MILES ON TRUCK. GM KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WILL NOT ADDRESS. SERVICE BULLETIN PIT5361B.
SHAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I TRIED STOPPING TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE I PRESSED BRAKE PEDAL AND TRUCK KEPT GOING ALMOST HITTING A PARKED CAR I FELT A VIBRATION IN BRAKE PEDAL AND IT FELT HARD TO PRESS TRUCK HAS ABOUT 29K MILES
ON THREE OCCASIONS MY 2016 CHEVY SILVERADO LTZ Z71 BRAKES FAILED TO WORK. THE FIRST TIME I ROLLED HALF WAY INTO A INTERSECTION BEFORE I CAME TO A STOP. THE SECOND TIME WAS AT AN SINGNAL CONTROLLED INTERSECTION. AFTER BOTH OF THESE INCIDENTS THE BRAKES STARTED WORKING PERFECT AND I WAS NOT SURE IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM OR NOT. THE OTHER DAY THIS HAPPENED AGSIN BUT THIS TIME I WAS IN A PARKING LOT. I WAS ABLE TO TEST THE BRAKES AND AS I WENT BACK AND FORTH I HAD TROUBLE COMING TO A STOP AS I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO CHEVY SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT WAS FAILING. THEY STATED I WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND I'M RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST. I DON'T FEEL LIKE I SHOULD I DO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A PART THAT THEY SAID IS NOT SUPPOSED TO FAIL. THIS IS ALSO CONCERNING IF THERE ARE OTHER CHEVY TRUCK OUT ON THE ROAD THAT RANDOMLY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STOP.
FROM THE DAY OF PURCHASE THE BRAKES NEVER SEEMED TO BE ADEQUATE. YOU WOULD HAVE TO PUSH HARDER ON THE BRAKES THAN NORMAL TO MAKE THE TRUCK STOP. DURING ROUTINE SERVICE THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THE BRAKES, DRIVERS SIDE REAR WERE ALMOST METAL TO METAL AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WAS SLIGHTLY BETTER. THE FRONT BRAKES WERE 2/3 WORN AND ALL OF THE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS TRUCK IS LEASED AND HAS ONLY 32000 MILES ON IT THEREFORE SHOULDN'T NEED TO BE REPLACING BRAKES AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. PER THE DEALERSHIP IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AS BRAKES FALL UNDER THE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OF A VEHICLE. AGAIN, WE FEEL THAT WITH ONLY 32000 MILES BRAKES SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF GM TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS THE 4TH NEW GM TRUCK THAT I'VE OWNED OR LEASED AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES BEFORE WITH BRAKES.
DEC 1ST 2018, I'M IN A PARKING LOT PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE HEAD FIRST, WHEN I NEEDED TO STRAIGHTEN MY TRUCK OUT, I PUT IT IN REVERSE TO PULLOUT AND STRAIGHTEN IT OUT, WHEN I HIT MY BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY THE PEDAL HAS A LOT OF PRESSURE AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO COME TO A STOP. THEN PULL FORWARD AGAIN TO PARK AND YET THE PEDAL BECOMES ROCK HARD MAKING EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO STOP THE TRUCK MOVING FORWARD, A COUPLE FEET. THEN FINALLY STOPPING BEFORE HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I NOW CALL THE DEALERSHIP TO TAKE IT IN AND SEE WHAT'S GOING ON BECAUSE NOW THIS PUTS MYSELF, MY FAMILY, AND EVERYONE AROUND ME IN DANGER IF I'M NOT ABLE TO STOP MY TRUCK.
THE BRAKES BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO PRESS WHILE TRYING TO STOP FROM A SLOW SPEED. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE EITHER IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC OR GOING THROUGH A DRIVE THROUGH. I HAD TO PRESS EXTREMELY HARD ON THE PEDAL IN ORDER TO PREVENT FROM HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THIS ISSUE DID NOT SEEM TO OCCUR AT HIGHER SPEEDS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING SLOW SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL VIOLENTLY JERKED AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND LOST POWER. ALSO, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE "PARKING ASSIST OFF" AND "ROLL DOWN THE SIDE WINDOWS" MESSAGES WERE ALSO DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KNUDTSEN CHEVROLET (1900 E POLSTON AVE, POST FALLS, ID 83854, (208) 664-8107), BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: [XXX]. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. THE BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. RANDOMLY THE PEDAL STIFFENS A D WONT LET ME BRAKE PROPERLY. IT HAPPENS IN REVERSE AND IN DRIVE. WHEN PRESSING ON THE PEDAL IT WILL SORT OF LOCK UP AND KEEP GOING A FEW FEET BEFORE COMING TO A STOP L. THIS IS RIDICULOUS, I'M IN THE MILITARY I HAVE A NEWBORN CHILD I DO NOT NEED TO BE HURT AT HOME WHILE DRIVING AROUND. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL TO GE THIS FIXED.
THE FIRST SET OF BRAKE PADS WERE GM REPLACEMENT, THEY DID NOT STOP THE TRUCK AS WELL AS THE ORIGINAL. SO I REPLACED THE PADS WITH RAYBESTOS BRAKE PADS, STILL NOT SATISFIED WITH THE STOPPING DISTANCE. AGAIN I WENT WITH NAPA CERAMIC PADS THEY CAUSED THE BREAKS TO SQUEAL WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. NOW MY MECHANIC HAS REPLACED THEM WITH O RELLY NAME PADS AND THE STOPPING DISTANCE IS STILL INCREASING. THE OTHER PROBLEM WAS AROUND 58,000 MILES MY TRUCK BEGAN SHIFTING HARD AND JERKING. WHEN I TOOK IT TO DEACON JONES CHEVROLET IN SMITHFIELD NC, THEY REPLACED THE TORQUE CONVERTER AT NO CHARGE. NOW AT 63,000 MILES ITS DOING THE SAME THING. GM STATES EVEN IF THEY REPLACED THE PART THE WARRANTY ONLY COVERS TO 60,000. MILES. WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE PART WARRANTY SAME RESPONSE 60,000 MILES. CHECKING WITH SEVERAL MECHANICS IN THE AREA AND ON LINE BOTH INCIDENCES SEEMS TO BE A REOCCURRING PROBLEM FOR PEOPLE WHO OWN TRUCKS OF THIS PERIOD. PLEASE CHECK INTO THIS.
IF YOU CONTINUE TO APPLY BRAKES THE PEDAL BECOMES ROCK HARD. VEHICLE WILL CONTINUE MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD NO MATTER WHAT PRESSURE YOU APPLY TO PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WILL MOVE SEVERAL FEET BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. THIS OCCURRED TO ME WHILE AT A CITY CROSSWALK. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN WITH VEHICLE NOT STOPPING.
THE BRAKES BUILD UP PRESSURE WHEN PUSHED MULTIPLE TIMES CAUSING THE BRAKES TO NOT ENGAGE AND PROPERLY STOP THE VEHICLE. THEY GET SO TIGHT YOU HAVE TO PUT ALL WEIGHT AND FORCE POSSIBLE IN THEM TO STOP. I'VE CALLED MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS AND EVEN CALLED GM DIRECTLY AND AFTER INVESTIGATION THEY SAY THEY COULD NOT SIMULATE THE ISSUE AND ITS NOT A KNOWN ISSUE. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS REPORTS ON THIS AND IT WAS VERY EASY TO FIND AS A KNOWN ISSUE AMONGST GM OWNERS.
WHILE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE BRAKE PEDAL RESPONSE BECOMES INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO MOVE . BOTH FEET REQUIRED TO KEEP IT FROM MOVING. COULD HAVE MADE A SLOW SPEED REAR END COLLISION. CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP REPAIRS ARE A NEW VACUUM PUMP. THE TRUCK HAS 60,000 MILES.
WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEED (15 MPH AND LESS) IN SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT STOP AND GO SITUATION THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. BRAKES SEEMED TO BE GRABBING AND PETAL BECAME EXCESSIVELY HARD. DEALERSHIP REPLACED VACUUM PUMP & SENSOR, LABOR AND PARTS $605.41. MILEAGE 56827
I HAVE A 2016 SILVERADO 1500 THAT HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY BREAKS AND POWERTRAIN. I TRY TO STOP THE OTHER DAY AND THE PEDAL GOT STIFF AND WASNT ABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE ALMOST HITTING A PEDESTRIAN. ITS BEEN GOING ON FOR AWHILE TOO. AND MY POWERTRAIN WHEN I IN THE STREET OR HIGHWAY GOING 60MPH IT TENDS TO SHOOT THE RPMS N GO DOWN AND LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WANT TO SHIFT DOWN ON ITS OWN.
LOSE POWER BRAKING ABILITY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND AT SLOW SPEEDS. TWO PEDAL DEPRESSIONS AND BRAKES BECOME VIRTUALLY UNUSABLE. SUSPECT FAULTY BRAKE VACUUM.
WHEN APPLIED BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO PUSH DOWN AND BRAKES DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET AT TIME OF INCIDENT. TOOK TO CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A BAD BRAKE BOOSTER AND THAT THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF TROUBLE WITH THEM.
1) COLD STARTS, PUT TRUCK IN GEAR (FORWARD/REVERSE) TRUCK DOES NOT MOVE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN TRUCK LURCHES INTO DIRECTION SELECTED. VELOCITY OF TRUCK ACCELERATION IS ENOUGH TO SPIN TIRES ON GRAVEL, GRASS AND PAVEMENT. 2) AFTER EXTENDED HIGHWAY DRIVING AND CI.ING TO A STOP (EXIT RAMP) AND TRANS SLIPS UPON INITIAL START AND SHIFTING. 3) STOP AND GO DRIVING ON EXPRESS (45 MINS.) WHEN TRAFFIC STARTED TO MOVE AND REMOVING FOOT FROM BRAKE, TRUCK ROLLS AND WHEN SHIFTING INTO NEXT GEAR, TRANS ABRUPTLY SHIFTS AND SQUAWK TIRES. HAD TO ALLOW TRUCK TO START ROLLING WHILE KEEPING FOOT ON BRAKE AND KEEPING TRUCK FROM LURCHING FORWARD AND SQUEALING TIRES AND HITTING VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. 4) WHEN PASSING OR ACCELERATING ONTO EXPRESSWAY, CAN FEEL THE PROPULSION FLUTTERING. * PROBLEM IS ONGOING AND EXPERIENCED SINCE NEW. NUMEROUS TRIPS TO DEALERSHIP AND RECALIBRATED SHIFTING AND PROBLEM CONTINUES. I HAVE PICS OF TIRE SPIN UPON INITIAL ENGAGEMENT OF TRANS AND ABRUBTLY ACCELERATING VEHICLE .
AS I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC MY BRAKES BECAME SO HARD TO PUSH THAT I COULD NOT SUCCESSFULLY GET IT TO STOP EFFECTIVELY WITHOUT USING MY BODY'S WEIGHT TO TRY AND DEPRESS THE BRAKES. I STILL COULDN'T GET IT TO STOP CORRECTLY. THEN I WAS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND ALMOST REAR ENDED SOMEONE. HAPPENED MANY TIMES MORE BEFORE I COULD GET IT IN TO BE FIXED.
ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, MY BRAKES FAILED ME CAUSING ME TO ALMOST CRASH. THE FIRST TIME, I WAS STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN FROM GOING LESS THAN 5MPH (I WAS INCHING UP AFTER ABOUT 10 CARS WERE IN FRONT OF ME). I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE WHOLE TIME AND NEVER ACCELERATES AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE TRUCK WOULDN'T STOP. I WAS ON ABOUT A VERY SLIGHT DOWNHILL (MAYBE 1 DEGREE). IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKES BECAME SLIPPERY AND JUST SOUNDED AWFUL. I CAME WITHIN A FEW INCHES OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND ALMOST REAR ENDED THEM. THE NEXT OCCASION, I WAS GOING DOWNHILL AND TO THE LEFT AND HAS TO STOP. THE TRUCK DID THE SAME THING WHERE THE POWER BRAKES SEEMED TO FAIL OR THE BRAKES JUST DIDN'T WANT TO WORK. THIS TIME I WAS GOING ABOUT 35MPH AND HAD TO SWERVE INTO THE WRONG LANE TO AVOID CRASHING. THANKFULLY NOBODY WAS COMING OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE HAD TO REAR END THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS PROBABLY 5 OR 6 CAR LENGTHS BEHIND HIM WHEN WE BOTH HIT THE BRAKES AT THE SAME TIME. THE 3RD TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS THIS MORNING IN THE SAME SPOT AS THE SECOND INCIDENT. THIS TIME, I WAS TESTING THE BRAKES. I'M VERY SCARED THAT SOMETHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN BECAUSE OF THIS AND WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS FIXED ASAP. I BOUGHT THIS GM CERTIFIED VEHICLE ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO AND SHOULD BE IN GOOD MECHANICAL CONDITION. THESE 3 INCIDENTS HAPPENED IN A 10-14 DAY SPAN AND 2 TIMES IN THE PAST 3 DAYS.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE AT LOW SPEEDS THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND PEDAL FAILED CAUSING ME TO USE EXCESSIVE BRAKE PRESSURE TO GET THE THE VEHICLE TO STOP. DUE TO THIS I WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN A CRASH THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 50K MILES.
