This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHEN TRAFFIC BEGAN TO BUILD UP. AS I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN I NOTICED AN EXTENDED DELAY IN STOPPING. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AT THIS POINT AND I CONTINUED TO DRIVE. I THEN EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND STOPPED AT A LOCAL GROCERY STORE. I STARTED MY VEHICLE BACK UP AND BEGAN DRIVING TO SCHOOL. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 40 MPH AND IT WAS THEN THAT MY VEHICLE ALARM WENT OFF AND SCREEN ADVISED THAT MY BRAKES HAD FAILED. I COULD NOT STOP MY VEHICLE AND HAD NO BRAKES. I THEN PUSHED THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BOARD. MY TRUCK SLOWED ENOUGH FOR ME TO GET IT INTO MY SCHOOL'S PARKING LOT. I THEN ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY PARKING BREAK AND NOTIFIED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE.
The Advanced Trailering system will fail to load, preventing the user from entering the correct vehicle being towed and the entire system screen is blank and won't load. This could be a huge safety concern if the driver cannot select the correct vehicle being towed since the Brake Gain is stored in the Advanced Trailering system and then the incorrect amount of braking force will be applied to the vehicle while it is being driven, which could cause insufficient or excessive braking forces applied to the towed vehicle. This could lead to rear end crashes or Jack-Knifed crashes. The problem is random but repeatable quite frequently and has been confirmed by the Dealer (refer to included GM Bulletin PIT5792 Published on 11/5/2020) GM has been aware of this problem for almost 2 years and has not provided a fix for it. I have had this vehicle in the dealer on at least 3 occasions to fix the problem There is no advanced warning, message or other symptom prior to this problem. The problem started within a month of purchasing the vehicle
LIGHTS ON INSTRUMENTS PANEL ON AND OFF,, GAS GAUGE NOT WORKING. MILES LEFT GOES UP AND DOWN WHEN TRUCK IS SITTING.
This is a huge vehicle. Side indicators were required back in 1968, and yet this monster truck doesn’t have any definitive side markers. Also, the standard package does not have any turn indicators on its side mirrors. Even compact cars have this safety item.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS TRAVELING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AT AN UNKNOWN RATE OF SPEED, THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. ALSO, THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE BRAKES WERE DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT'S WIFE ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER, BUT THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HERB CHAMBERS CHEVROLET OF DANVERS (90 ANDOVER ST, MA-114, DANVERS, MA 01923) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 738.
