WHILE ATTEMPTING TO FASTEN THE SAFETY BELT, THE RECEIVER CLASP FRACTURED FROM THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVERS SAFETY BELT WOULD NOT REMAIN SECURED IN THE BUCKLE HOUSING WITH VERY LITTLE FORCE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILES WERE 89,500.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE DEALER, MACMAHON CHEVROLET, PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND NO FAILURES. HOWEVER, THEY WERE ABLE TO GET THE LIGHT TO DIM. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE FAILURE OCCURRED AND THE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED FOR APPROXIMATELY A WEEK. THE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ,AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CENTER THAT SENDS THE SIGNAL FOR THE AIR BAGSWAS DAMAGED. THIS FAILURE WOULD PREVENT THE AIR BAGS FROM DEPLOYING IN A CRASH. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 80,000, AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. *AK
ODOMETER FAILED AND I WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE SPEED. IT COST ME APPROXIMATELY $750.00 TO REPAIR THE 2004 TAHOE. I OWNED SEVERAL VEHICLES AND THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. I WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT THIS ITEM HAD TO BE REPLACED IN SEVERAL VEHICLES, BUT AT THIS TIME THERE WAS NO RECALL. SO I HAD TO PAY! *AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR SEAT REPAIRS, THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DISCOVERED THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT WAS NEVER ATTACHED TO THE FRAME. THE SEAT BELT WAS REATTACHED TO THE FRAME.
DT: THE CONTACT HAS A 2004 SUBURBAN. IT HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP 4-5 TIMES FOR AIR BAG PROBLEMS. THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON PERIODICALLY AND THEN IT WOULD STAY ON. IN MAY 05 THE DEALER REPLACED THE CONNECTORS. SINCE THEN THEY HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, AND THE COMPUTER THAT GOES TO THE AIR BAG ON DRIVER'S SIDE. THEY REPLACED THE CONNECTORS AGAIN LAST WEEK ON 8-17-05. THE CONTACT TALKED TO GM, AND THEY OFFERED HIM AN EXTENSION ON THE WARRANTY FOR THE AIR BAG. NO ONE WAS ABLE TO GIVE A DEFINITIVE ANSWER AS WHAT WAS CAUSING THE AIR BAG PROBLEM. *AK *NM
