NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2013 Chevrolet Suburban. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V053000 (Air Bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The dashboard in 2007-2014 gm trucks and subs break apart. These can shatter when in an accident. There is insufficient bracing and supports to keep the dashboards from cracking and coming apart in pieces. Only remedy is to replace the dashboard or get an aftermarket cap that may or may not hold during an accident. Especially when the airbags is deployed.
On the driver side adjacent to the fuel tank, improper drainage for the body frame caused severe rust. Over time the frame of the vehicle becomes a safety hazard and may cause the frame to crack or split resulting in loss of control to the rear of the vehicle.
My Suburban's dashboard has a crack that extends now to the edge of the airbag compartment door, with a piece now missing and what appears to be something like an airbag visible. I am concerned the airbag will not deploy correctly if / when it is needed. I have called a certified Chevrolet dealer/ repair garage who said this is not an issue listed under Chevrolet's recall, although I have seen numerous other customers express similar concerns and issues as mine. Thank you.
The vehicle has exterior side mirrors that fold in. Once folded in the driverside mirror can be powered back out, but the passager side does not. this makes it unsafe to change lanes and identify a vehicle in your blind spot. This malfunction has happen several times on this vehicle. Prior to this vehicle had another 2013 suburban that the same malfunction occurred on. What are the odds of the same malfunction occurring on two seperate vehicles. The vehicle is currently at a mechanic shop that I have asked to check this out. Without this mirror it is unsafe to drive on a multi-lane freeway where changing lanes is necessary.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that the dashboard had many fractures nearby the air bag enclosure. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and it was confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was 294,000.
The Dash has cracked in several spots and makes loud vibrating noises and I’m worried with one crack being near air bag that air bag will not work correctly or dash will have projectile pieces that may impel into a person if the airbag deploys
M y dash panel has had a small crack for years but the entire passenger air bag section lifted this morning. The dash panel is jagged and unsafe
I took the vehicle in for the air bag recall repair, and was informed by both the dealership and Chevy that while the cost oof replacing the air bag itself was covered under the recall, any damage to the dash or other parts of the vehicle that must to be removed to replace the air bag would NOT be covered under the recall. This policy is deplorable and immoral, and possibly illegal, but I confirmed with Chevy's corporate office that IS their current policy.
I took my 2013 Suburban to a Chevy dealership in San Jose CA to have the airbag recall repaired. Upon completion, my airbag light and "Service Airbag" message were still on. I asked why this was still on. They said the recall issue was fixed, but did not know why the light and message were still on. But wanted to charge over $1400 to diagnose the issue. I filed a complaint w/ the Chevy's California Customer Engagement Center, and escalated to one of their supervisors. I emailed them the picture I took of the light and the message. He forward it to their technicians. He contacted me a week later and stated that the indicator of the service bag warning (Code 212328790) fault is present, and that the airbags will not deploy. But because this matter was not part of the recall, I would have to be responsible to pay for the repair, or contact NHTSA to file a complaint and have them issue another recall. I understand that I am responsible for the wear-and-tear on my vehicle. The airbag warning light and message stating "Service Airbag" is something that was never in may control, to maintain and/or replace. This was a defective piece of an equipment that I wasn't responsible for. I am requesting NHTSA issue another recall for this matter. Thank you. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
On July 8th I went into Sheehy Honda to look at a Suburban that Miss [XXX] said she had on sale. When I arrive Ms [XXX] showed me the vehicle, after looking over the vehicle it was something hanging from the back part of the vehicle they looked at it they got the manager out there he said he was going to take care of it doing, that time I went back into the building and try to see would I be able to purchase this vehicle and as the agreement started they say that I will have to put 4200 down after that the two guys went in the back I was still in the front with Miss [XXX] at her desk and the two gentlemen's came back and ask me do I have $500 more and I can get the vehicle and I told them if I was to give them 4,700 I want them to subtract it from asking price then Finance the balance from, $17,999 and I'll be financing only balance from that $17,999, because they told me the VIP was free for free oil change rotations and looking over your car and also I had warranty on the motor transmission and I want to say drive shaft but come to find out all these are add ones that they told me that was free. I had to do two engine jobs in one year because oil pressure sensor switch keeps going off due to poor electrical in the vehicle I also had to buy oil pressure pump
Takata Recall. The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V054000 (Air Bags) however, the dealer informed the contact that the part for the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Hi My 2013 Chevy Suburban's Dash has a crack near the air bag.
When car seat us properly installed rear facing, no matter how tight the seatbelt secures the car seat the car seat itself slides into an unsafe reclining position. We used the tethers with no improvement. Also the location of the crotch buckle punches and oftentimes does not latch correctly. This seat is dangerous as littles cannot verbalize what is going on. The cup holders impede proper locking of buckles but are required based on the manual. Should a crash happened I’m convinced a child would be harmed due to the seat shifting in the seat. When it shifts, the feet go up and the head goes down no matter how it’s properly installed (seatbelt or tether) in the rear facing position. We had to stop multiple times on our trip from Tx to PA to adjust the seats.
Starting approximately 24 months ago the dash on my Suburban started cracking. Now it has cracked in several locations on both the driver's and passenger side of the dash. The cracks on the passenger side go up to the air bag location. Cracks on the driver's side are numerous and getting worse. The driver's side cracks are such that the pieces would come apart in an accident, even if the air bag was not deployed.
I HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF A DANGEROUS AIRBAG RECALL ON MY 2013 SUBURBAN. THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE AT THIS TIME. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. MY VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. CHEVY IS NOT RETURNING OUR PHONE CALLS. APPARENTLY IT IS OK WITH THEM FOR ME TO DRIVE MY FAMILY AROUND WITH WHAT IS EQUIVALENT TO A HAND GRENADE IN MY GLOVE BOX.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V054000(air bags) however, the part to do the recall was unavailable. The contact called the local dealer who stated parts were available. The contact stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified who referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
I WANT MY AIRBAG RECALL REPLACED BUT THERE IS STILL NO TIME FRAME AS TO WHEN I CAN GO TAKE IT AND GET IT FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURER... THIS IS DANGEROUS.

UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V614000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 190,000.
REPLACEMENT OF RACK AND PINION
TAPPING OR CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. CAR LOST POWER, BUCKING WITH HARD SHIFTS, AND STABILITRACK, ABS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ALL COME ON. I TOOK TO AUTHORIZED REPAIR SHOP AND THEY FOUND MISFIRE ON CYL 4. CHANGED ALL SPARK PLUGS/WIRES AND CLEANED THOTTLE BODY AND TUNE UP AS WELL AS OIL CHANGE. CAR CONTINUED HARD DOWNSHIFTING AFTER PICKING UP. DROVE FOR A WEEK AND SYMPTOMS REAPPEARED AGAIN. SHOP IS CURRENTLY TRYING TO DIAGNOSE IF IT'S A BAD LIFTER(S) OR POSSIBLY FUEL INJECTION PROBLEM. SHOP OWNER ADMITTED THAT HE'S HEARD OF PROBLEMS WITH GM'S 5.3 ENGINES AND THE ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WRECKING ENGINES. I HAVE MY 3 KIDS IN THE CAR AND IT WAS SCARY ALMOST GETTING STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET.
THE SIDE BLIND ZONE SYSTEM IS CONTINUOUSLY ON.
WHEN DECELERATING GETTING OFF OF THE HIGHWAY 6/6/2020 THE VEHICLE ENGINE REVVED UP ON IT'S OWN. THE MESSAGE CENTER IS SAYING THAT THE AIRBAGS NEED TO BE SERVICED, THE AIR CONDITIONING TURNS ON AND OFF AND GOES FROM HIGH TO LOW ON IT'S OWN , AND THE POWER WINDOWS IN THE SECOND ROW OF SEATING WILL ROLL DOWN BUT CAN ONLY BE ROLLED UP AT TIMES BY THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW CONTROLS. THE BRAKE GRADING SYSTEM TURNS ON AT RANDOM TIMES AND THE TIRE SENSOR READING DISPLAYS ARE OFF. THE TIRE SENSOR READINGS ARE THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT THEY APPEAR TO BE ON THE MESSAGE CENTER (IE. THE MESSAGE CENTER SAYS THAT THE LEFT REAR TIRE IS LOW, BUT THE RIGHT REAR TIRE IS ACTUALLY LOW. LASTLY, DESPITE REGULAR TIMELY RECOMMENDED OIL CHANGES ONE OF MY LIFTERS IN MY ENGINE BROKE OFF ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK ONE DAY LAST YEAR. I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND WENT TO ACCELERATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING. I PULLED OVER AND HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN AUTOSHOP. THE ENTIRE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED AND IT WAS JUST A MONTH OUTSIDE OF THE FACTORY WARRANTY. SO WE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE ENTIRE COST OF THE REPAIR. THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN ONE HAZARD AFTER ANOTHER SINCE WE PURCHASED IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT VARIOUS ELECTRICAL FAILURES WOULD INTERMITTENTLY OCCUR WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC DOORS WOULD INDEPENDENTLY LOCK AND UNLOCK, SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS WOULD FLASH ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, AND THAT THE HOME SCREEN WOULD FLICKER ON AND OFF. ONCE THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE CONTACT PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, MANUALLY SHIFT THE BATTERY CABLES UNDERNEATH THE HOOD AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO CONTACTED THREE DIFFERENT DEALERS, GOLD RUSH CHEVROLET (570 GRASS VALLEY HWY, AUBURN, CA 95603), JOHN L SULLIVAN CHEVROLET (350 AUTOMALL DR, ROSEVILLE, CA 95661) AND WINNER CHEVROLET (1624 S CANYON WAY, COLFAX, CA 95713), ALL OF WHOM STATED THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V614000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) WHICH HE LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.
AT HOME: BOTH FRONT DOORS, BUILT IN ARMRESTS SUPPORTS. INNER HARD PLASTIC ARM SUPPORT IS BROKEN IN HALF. WAS NOT AWARE IT HAD BROKEN AND LEANED ON IT GETTING OUT OF THE CAR. WHEN THE ARM REST GAVE AWAY I FELL OUT OF CAR DOWN TO THE SIDEWALK. MY PREVIOUS CAR WAS ALSO A SUBURBAN AND WE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. I ASKED THE BODY SHOP IF IT COULD BE REPAIRED BUT THEY STATED THE WHOLE PANEL WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. UNABLE TO TAKE PICTURES DUE TO IT BEING IN CASED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT START UP AND WHILE DRIVING, THE LOW OIL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT POSSIBLE ENGINE DAMAGE IF THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. THE WARRANTY COMPANY DECLINED TO AUTHORIZE THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I HAD DRIVEN MY VEHICLE TO WORK. MID-MORNING I STARTED MY VEHICLE WHILE IN THE PARKING LOT OF MY WORK TO RUN AN ERRAND. I BACKED OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE AND DROVE MAYBE 100 FEET WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MY VEHICLE ALSO BEGAN CONSIDERABLY SHAKING. I WENT STRAIGHT TO MY MECHANIC. HE FOUND THAT ONE OF THE LIFTERS HAD FAILED. THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME HE HAD SEEN THIS PROBLEM. MY MECHANIC HAS A FRIEND WHO WORKS FOR A GM DEALERSHIP AS A MECHANIC. THE FRIEND HAD PREVIOUSLY ADVISED MY MECHANIC THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE. IF A LIFTER FAILS WHILE THE ENGINE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, ONLY THE ONE FAILED LIFTER IS REPLACED ALTHOUGH IT IS KNOWN THEY WILL ALL FAIL AT SOME POINT. GM HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED THIS PROBLEM TO THE PUBLIC AND THEY WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I ENDED UP REPLACING ALL LIFTERS SINCE MY MECHANIC HAD ALREADY REMOVED THE ENGINE AND WE KNEW AT SOME POINT ALL LIFTERS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. (NOTE: I WAS ONLY ABLE TO UPLOAD PAGE 1 OF THE INVOICE BELOW). *TR
COMMON DASH CRACK IN THESE SUBURBANS. VERY DANGEROUS IF AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED.
DASHBOARD CRACKING - STARTED RIGHT BY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG ON THE DASH. CONCERNED ABOUT IMPACT ON AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT.
THE DASH IS CRACKING LIKE SO MANY OTHERS OF THIS MODEL. MY SUBURBAN HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGE OR CARPORT KEPT AND THERE IS NO REASON THE DASH SHOULD BE CRACKING. *TR
THE DASH HAS CRACKS AROUND THE AIR BAGS ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES.
I HAVE A 2013 SUBURBAN WITH THE COMMON CRACKED DASH ISSUES. MINE HAS A MAJOR CRACK NEAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG, MIDDLE SPEAKER AND OVER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IT CAME THIS WAY WHEN I BOUGHT IN ON 8/29/2019 BUT I CONSIDER IT A POTENTIAL HAZARD IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO DEPLOY.
BRAKES LIGHT ANTI-LOCK/SKID E-BRAKE KEEPS ACTIVATING, BUT DOES NOT SHOW UP AS A CODE OR PROBLEM. INTERMITTENT CODE P015B AND P015D AT THE SHOP SOMETIMES THIS CODE DOES NOT APPEAR OR AT DIFFERENT SHOP CODE IS ACTIVE. BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN STATIONARY AND STAYS ON. P CODE OCCURS WHEN IN MOTION. I HAVE A SYNCUP DRIVE ON MY VEHICLE SO I GET THE P CODES, BRAKE CODE NEVER COMES UP SAME WHEN AT THE SHOP
SINCE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BACK IN 2014 THE PAINT ON THE EXTERIOR HAS BEEN FLAKING ALSO THE TRACTION LIGHT AND STABILITRAK COMES ON AND OFF THE INTERIOR AS WELL HAS HAD MAJOR ISSUES SUCK AS CRACKING OF DASHBOARD AND SEAT I HAD TO DO AN TRANSMISSION JOB AFTER 4 YEARS , AIRBAGS SENSOR GOING ON AND OFF
DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN TWO PLACES. IT IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT CHEVY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND. IN THE EVENT OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SMALL PIECES OF PLASTIC COULD FLY AND INJURE OCCUPANTS.
THE DASH HAS CRACKED IN 2 PLACES - ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THE POTENTIAL FOR FLYING SHARDS FROM THE DASH INTO PERSONS AFTER DEPLOYMENT OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS HIGH. I REQUEST A RECALL TO CORRECT. MY WIFE'S 8 YEAR OLD TOYOTA SIENNA'S DASH WAS RECALLED FOR THE SAME REASON.
THE DASHBOARD HAS SEVERAL CRACKS AND CONTINUES TO CRACK FURTHER. THESE CRACKS JUST STARTED TO APPEAR WITHOUT INCIDENT. THEY CAUSE THE DASH TO RATTLE. THEY ARE ALSO A COSMETIC ISSUE THAT WILL DEPRECIATE THE VALUE OF THE SUBURBAN.
SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM MESSAGE WOULD BE DISPLAYED AND THE STABILITY CONTROL WOULD TURN OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING DOWN A STREET OR HIGHWAY. THE ENGINE STALLED RANDOMLY AND ALL THE GAUGES TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TWICE. AT TIMES THERE WOULD BE NO POWER WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY TO START THE ENGINE, BUT IF YOU COME BACK LATER IT COULD START RIGHT UP. IT SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V614000, BUT THAT RECALL DOESN'T COME UP UNDER MY VIN ON THIS SITE OR ON THE DEALERS SYSTEM
CRACKED DASH ABOVE STEERING WHEEL. RESULTED FROM TEMPERATURE CHANGES I NOTICED IT BECAUSE IT WAS MAKING A SOUND WHEN I WAS DRIVING.
FEB. 15 , 2019 TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IN CAR. BROUGHT CAR EARLIER IN THE YEAR BECAUSE IT WAS JERKING BUT THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL. WENT OUT OF TOWN AND TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 93,721 MILES. EXTENDED WARRANTY WENT OUT ON FEB. 14, 2019. ONLY HOURS BEFORE AND NO COMPANY WOULD HELP! WE PAID 5,000 FOR A REPLACEMENT AND NOTICED THAT MY DASH HAD A CRACK IN IT AFTER BEING REPAIRED. CHEVROLET COMPANY SAID THEY DIDN'T DO IT. NOW THE DASH IS ALMOST CRACKED ALL THE WAY TO MY STEERING WHEEL. I UNDERSTAND THE WEAR AND TEAR OF ANY VEHICLE, BUT FOR THE WARRANTY TO GO OUT HOURS BEFORE HAND WAS UNBELIEVABLE. PLUS, THE REPAIR MAN THAT INSTALLED MY TRANSMISSION SAID MY MOTOR DRINKS OIL. YES, WE KNOW THAT. HE EXPLAINED TO US WHY AND SAID THAT CHEVY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED MY MOTOR WHEN WE BROUGHT IT IN DURING OUR BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. WE NO LONGER USE CHEVYLAND BECAUSE OF THEIR LACK OF SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I WILL SAY THAT CHEVY NEEDS TO BUILD BETTER DOOR RESTS. EVERY TIME I PUSH OPEN MY DOOR OR CLOSE IT, THE HANDLE AREA IS BROKE IN HALF. ITS A THIN PIECE OF PLASTIC AND ITS NOT WORTH PAYING AN ARM AND LEG TO FIX IT. NEEDS TO BE A PIECE OF METAL.
MY 2013 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN HAS CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD IN THE SAME SPOTS AS MANY OTHER PEOPLE I HAVE TALKED TO, NOT ONLY DOES THIS DIMINISH THE VALUE OF OUR VEHICLES THE CRACKS AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SEEM LIKE IT COULD BE A DANGER IF THE AIR BAG WERE TO DEPLOY POSSIBLY CAUSING PLASTIC SHRAPNEL TO BE EJECTED WITH EXTREME FORCE INJURING OR POSSIBLY KILLING SOMEONE ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE AIRBAGS ARE ALREADY UNDER A RECALL FOR THEIR ISSUES THEY (THE DASH ) SHOULD BE RECALLED
DASHBOARD PLASTIC IS CRACKING IN MULTIPLE SPOTS. NOTHING SPECIFIC HAPPENED TO CAUSE THIS DAMAGE OTHER THAN NORMAL VEHICLE USE. *TR
ON 12/08/2018, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IN MOTION ON STREET PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY. THEN THE DASBOARD AND ENTIRE ELECTRONICAL STARTS TO SHUT DOWN AND TRUCK STARTS JURKING LOSING MORE POWER. THEN THE TRACTION AND STABILIZERS ARE DEACTIVATED. AFTER THE TRUCK IS PARK IT WILL NOT REMOTE START OR START WITH THE KEY UNTIL AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS. THE A/C DEACTIVATED WITH A MESSAGE SAYING THAT THE ENGINE IS TO HOT. THE PROBLEMS STARTED BACK IN 06/2018 HAPPEN ON A FREQUENCY OF 3 TO 4 TIMES A MONTH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE DOORS BEGAN TO LOCK AND UNLOCK INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT REACHED HIS DESTINATION AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, BUT IT FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BASIL CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 5111 TRANSIT RD, DEPEW, NY 14043, (716) 683-6800) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING VERY LOUDLY. WE BROUGHT IT TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC AND WERE TOLD THAT IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. HE ALSO SAID MANY 2013 SUBURBAN ENGINES HAD BEEN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO POOR METAL USED IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Bought 2013 suburban brand new and in 2018, on a trip to the mountains for fall break, the car quit with no warning signs, in the middle of the night. The car would not accelerate when gas pedal was pressed and RPM gauge needle “fluctuated erratically” until car came to a complete stop in the middle of the highway! It was a scary and dangerous situation because it was late at night and we were in the mountains with no phone signal. Cars were coming and going both ways on Highway. Eventually people stopped to help us get suburban towed to local Chevrolet dealership and we had to rent a vehicle to get us to where we were initially going to start our fall break. The dealership called a day later to tell us that there were “lose metal pieces” in the transmission, which meant the transmission had to be replaced. We spent $5000 on that new transmission! It was the only way for us to come back home. The car was out of warranty therefore, the manufacturer did not offer any help! This was a very expensive, frustrating, and dangerous fall break in 2018. Please help! We deserve reimbursement because 7 years later, we bought another 2020 Suburban, also brand new and the same thing happened to transmission, last week! We spent $6000 to replace that transmission!
