NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
The factory-applied clearcoat on my 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe is failing and delaminating. The clearcoat is peeling away from the base coat in sheets, exposing the underlying paint to the elements. This deterioration occurred without any external damage, collision repair, or environmental abuse. The vehicle has 76,000 miles and has been regularly washed and maintained throughout ownership. The affected areas include roof and door panels. The failure began as clouding and hazing of the clearcoat and has progressed to active peeling and flaking. This issue appears to be a widespread manufacturing defect. Multiple class action lawsuits have been filed against General Motors alleging defective paint and clearcoat application on 2015–2020 full-size SUVs produced at the Arlington Assembly Plant [XXX] et al. v. General Motors LLC, Case No. [XXX], and [XXX] et al. v. General Motors LLC). Thousands of owners of Tahoes, Suburbans, Yukons, and Escalades from these model years have reported identical clearcoat failure. The alleged root cause is improper bonding between the clearcoat and base coat during the factory paint process. Repair estimates for a full repaint range from $3,600 to over $10,000. General Motors has not issued a recall or technical service bulletin to address this known defect. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter and compel General Motors to issue a recall covering the cost of repair for all affected vehicles. The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V645000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the failure occurred after the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was firm while depressed, and the vehicle failed to stop immediately. The contact, who is an independent mechanic, diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,500.
Exhaust fumes and carbon monoxide are entering my cabin. I have replaced Exhaust manifold gaskets (both sides), Exhaust manifolds, Exhaust manifold donut seals to the y-pipe and i still get carbon monoxide entering cabin giving my headaches. Please help
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe on February 21, 2026. The contact used another vehicle as a trade-in to purchase the vehicle. The contact stated that the odometer was recorded at 36,688 at the time of the sale. The contact was provided with an Experian report, which indicated that the odometer reading was last recorded at 35,900. The contact purchased the Carfax report the following day, which indicated that on March 25, 2025, the last odometer reading was 109,967. The sales representative was contacted and informed of the discrepancy, and was informed that the issue would be resolved. The contact was informed that the trade would be voided.
The vehicle’s infotainment touchscreen intermittently malfunctions due to apparent LCD ghosting or phantom touch inputs. The system registers commands without driver interaction, resulting in unpredictable and uncontrollable behavior. The failure presents as: •Ghost touches and phantom screen inputs •Uncommanded radio, media, and menu changes •Audible warning or confirmation beeps without driver input •Sudden and unexplained changes to the instrument cluster display •Periods of complete touchscreen failure •Loss of reliable control of audio, navigation, and vehicle settings These events occur while the vehicle is in motion and without warning. The driver is unable to stop or override the inputs, forcing attention away from the road in an attempt to correct or understand the malfunction. No warning lights are present prior to or during the failure. This condition creates a significant driver distraction and represents a safety hazard. The infotainment system is integrated into core vehicle functions, and its failure directly interferes with safe operation. In some instances, the system becomes unusable altogether. The issue is intermittent, difficult to reproduce on demand, and not resolved by restarting the vehicle. Based on the symptoms, this appears to be a hardware-related touchscreen or digitizer failure rather than user error. Given the prevalence of many similar reports involving GM infotainment systems exhibiting ghost touch behavior, this condition may represent a broader defect affecting this platform and model year range. Re: Touch Screen has a mind of its own - Page 4 - 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra - GM-Trucks.com. I am requesting that NHTSA evaluate this issue as a potential safety defect due to loss of driver control, unintended system inputs, and ongoing driver distraction.
My car has a problem This will be the 3rd visit to the Chevy dealership and the 6th time in a garage. At this time, the original alternator that came with the Tahoe, was running high through December and replaced with a new alternator from Parts Geek. It was ok for a couple weeks and is running high again. You cannot test it from a cold start to get this reading. It must be ran for at least 20 min. After a certain amount of time the battery gauge will move to the highest point, the warning lights of ABs, traction control, stabilitrak, trailer brake light, battery light (first time on 1/27/2026 for battery light), loss of drivers assist on 1/26/2026, tire pressure light, car dies coming to a stop sign. I can’t turn it back on for at least a min. I’m stuck inside with zero power, can’t unlock the doors to get out to direct traffic, open windows or put on 4 ways so I don’t get smacked in the middle of the road. After that minute I heard a click (no key in ignition, not trying to start) and then the dash lights started coming back on again and I started it. The battery did not restart the time on the radio screen so I’m assuming I didn’t die fully. The radio screen always goes black first, then the heat goes in and out, the warning lights come on and it dies. Takes a minute or so to be able to start it again and the lights aren’t on anymore but will continue to do the same shit after awhile of driving and now daily. I’m afraid to drive it anywhere since almost getting stuck inside and plowed at an interaction. I have reached out to Chevy about this problem and was referred to take it back to the dealership again, and to reach back out as soon as it’s there to open a case on the issue.Ive had it, this has been ongoing for a year, and I have to keep paying for things that doesn’t fix the issue and it’s getting worse.
There was a recall in 2019 (NHTSA Recall No. 19V645000) on certain GM vehicles for vacuum pump failure, which could affect braking and engine performance. The fix usually involved reprogramming the ECM to improve how the brake assist system operates - not necessarily replacing the vacuum pump unless it had already failed. My local dealership did the reprogramming but in 2025 the vacuum pump totally failed and left my vehicle stranded on the interstate. I had to have towed to a mechanic shop and the inside of the pump had broken into 3 pieces. So I had to have the vacuum pump replaced. During this time my car did not have brakes and put me and surrounding vehicles in a very dangerous situation. The mechanic gave me the broken part to show the dealership. The dealership said there isn’t anything they can do for assistance as I am out of warranty. There was a message that came up that said to service the braking system right before they stopped working.
It has happened several times when going slow the breaks get really hard to stop the vehicle. Otherwise breaks are new work well. One time I hit my garage as I tried to move it slightly forward. Another time I was slowly moving forward & tried to stop at a driveway as person was walking by. I pressed breaks down as far as the could go.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 70 MPH, the vehicle lost automotive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was forced to pull over and had the vehicle towed to a local independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a misfire coming from the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the camshaft. The contact was also informed that there was a misfire in cylinders #4 and #8. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
In my tahoe, my ac stopped working. [XXX] Nhtsa issued a statement but Gm is not covering my vehicle INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The system that I believe to be failing has to do with electrical components of the 2017 Chevy Tahoe. It has completely lost all power two times while driving this vehicle. In both instances, mine & my children's lives were at risk including those who could have hit us. If anyone had been behind me as I was turning and the car shut off mid turn, it's possible we could have been hit by a vehicle(s) going 50+ mph. It's available to you to be inspected if needed. The vehicle has been evaluated by a mechanic who says he cannot find any specific 'problem' but did have to turn off multiple error codes. The chevy dealership thinks it may have to do with the remote start antenna. This has not been reproduced by a dealer or service center but it has been reproduced by myself when I attempted to drive the car again after the error codes were turned off. I also have confirmation of this happening to another person who owns a 2017 suburban and after servicing the car they continue to have issues. They were entering onto a highway on the on ramp and their car completely lost power and stopped- I would hate to see what could have happened if this was on the highway itself as it could have had the potential of lives being lost. The only warning messages I have seen had to do with servicing the remote start, which has never worked for us despite having it worked on prior to purchasing the vehicle. There were messages about stabilitrack the first day this incident occurred but not the second time that it occurred. Both times the car will turn back on after about 5 minutes but it's as if the cars system was completely reset (clock at 12, radio setting default, etc). The fact that I know of one person with a 2017 Chevy that this has also happened to, I believe an immediate recall should be initiated as I will not be driving this vehicle until there is an answer to save our lives and others on the road.
Continue to have suspension issues and continued control issues on my 2017 Chevy Tahoe and with having two transmissions fail on this same truck!
I had no issues that would hint there was an issue with my power steering. I stopped at a drive thru, and when leaving and crossing 4 lanes to get into a lane, my power steering went out in the middle, driving less than 20 mph. I am very lucky that no cars were coming and I was able to pull into a parking lot that was across the street. My 3 kids were in the car when this occurred, and it seems this is a common occurance. This is a safety issue that needs addressed before someone gets killed.
I purchased this Tahoe in 2021I believe. I have replaced the transmission in 2024 for this Z71 Tahoe and now the lifters are gone as well. In the process of going in the shop. I’m very upset. Tahoe’s cost too much for transmission, lifters to be going out and needing a new one installed. This is a major problem with Tahoe’s and I need some answers as to what can be done to help with this major issue. Who do I need to call or speak with to get this issue resolved. It’s a problem and no one wants to be accountable for making trash and selling it at high price for the consumer to pay for Chevrolet mistakes. Something must be done!!!
THE ELECTRONIC SCREEN AND COMPUTER FUNCTION IS FAILING. PHONE CALLS ARE DROPPED AND OTHER FUNCTIONALITY IS FAILING INCLUDING THE INFORMATION SCREEN
Purchased 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe on 1/15/2025 with 50,647 miles on it. At exactly the 40 day mark, we noticed a problem when the vehicle began downshifting. When slowing down to stop at a red light, we could feel the transmission begin jerking as it shifted down and the check engine light came on. It has been taken back to the dealership (where we bought it), 5 times as of yesterday and they cannot fix the problem. The engine idles rough, downshifting is extremely hard, check engine comes on and off sporadically. The transmission temperature goes up and the dashboard lighting dims intermittently. This vehicle appeared to be in extremely good physical condition with very few miles, that's why it was purchased.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT 78000 MILES TOOK TO DEALER AND TOLD ME IT WAS TRANSMISSION CODES.WITH 78000 MILES DEALER SAYS I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT $7000.THERE ARE KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THIS YEAR AND MAKE OF VEHICLE AND NO RECALL.DEALER SAYS THEY REPLACE THESE ALL THE TIME BUT GM WONT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT WHAT CAN I DO
My transmission is slipping and causing safety concerns while driving on the highway. It’s a 2017 Chevy Tahoe that has less than 100,000 miles and we have been reading on the internet about many others having the same problem. We just took it to a shop and they informed us that it’s a common issue with this model chevy and it will cost $5,000 to replace the transmission.
My car had only 110,000 and the transmission went out. Maintenance has always been done on my car transmissions should not be going out at 110,000 miles. Gave me no warning at all just stopped in the middle of the road and wouldn’t go.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that occasionally while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the RPM was elevated. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle would brake independently while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The check engine and Electronic Stability Control warning lights would occasionally illuminate. The contact stated that restarting the vehicle was a temporary repair; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the windshield wipers activated independently, and all four doors locked independently. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with a fuel injector #6 failure; however, the part was replaced approximately one month prior to the failure reoccurring. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V761000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Service Brakes, Electronic Stability Control (ESC); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
At 92,000 miles the lifters went out in vehicle. Repairs were done and replaced the gaskets, lifters and head bolts. After driving the vehicle another 12,000 miles lifters went out again. GM is aware of the issue and does not to take responsibility or make a recall on the issue. It’s a very known issue with the 5.3L engine in cylinder 1 to have a lifter failure.
The transmission dropped 2 thousand miles over my warranty at 102k miles. I was taking my son to see his surgeon and the car started jerking and making noises in the middle of a busy intersection. We almost got hit several times trying to get it to the side of the road for safety. I had to pay almost $1800 to get it towed home (we were in Peoria about 150 miles from home to see his doctor). There were no indications the transmission was going out and never should have at that mileage. I always do regular maintenance and keep all my receipts. I then paid 6k out of pocket to have it replaced with a better transmission since I learned GM put a bad transmission in the Tahoe I have (I was told I missed the time limit to have it fixed on their dime). Then 6 weeks later a fuel injector and the lifters failed due to the active fuel management. No one was hurt thankfully because I was just leaving home to go to work when I noticed the tapping sound and had my mechanic come look at it. Him and 2 other mechanics confirmed it was the lifters. I had already borrowed money to replace the transmission and can’t afford the $12k quote to fix it. Now it has been sitting in my driveway for almost a year unable to be driven. It is however causing me severe depression. I’m borrowing my son’s car while paying almost $700 monthly on a Tahoe I can’t even drive. I was even more sad when I found out there’s thousands of people with the same issue. GM should be ashamed of themselves!
Purchased March 2022 Late October 2024-motor and a/c condenser had to be replaced November 2024- thermostat had to be replaced due to fan constanly running and draining the battery February 2025- thermostat line popped off and had to be replaced May 2025-Current- back at dealership due to engine ticking, cylinder 4 misfire code, emissions code, purge valve canister code and transmission issue (according to MyChevy app)
I was traveling through New York pulling my 21 foot RV and and the transmission on my Chevy truck (83,000 miles) heated up, the engine light came on, the transmission message occurred, and stopped working. We were stuck on the side of the road. The mechanic said these 6 speed transmissions often fail and it cost me $11,000 to rebuild it. He said the torque converter broke into pieces and traveled through my transmission lines. Online I learned this wasa very common problems with these kind of trucks and suvs.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while the vehicle was at a red light, parked, or while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle shuddered abnormally. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic made the contact aware of an unknown NHTSA Campaign Number; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.
Vehicle's 6L80e Transmission broke at 101,786 miles. No gears remained but 1st gear which caused the vehicle to lose power when using the vehicle in automatic mode and essentially limped to the repair shop. Repair shop determined Whole transmission needs to be replaced 2nd gear was lost, 3rd to 4th gear was shuttering and 5,6 were lost. To replace the transmission it will cost of $4500. There were no warning lights on the dash There were no DTC codes on the OBDII scan
Driveing home from the grocery store check light can on got home call the dealer sunday night with the ai bot awswering service had a appointment at 11:30am on monday, 5.3L cam, lifter valves ,push rods. Valve was stuck in the closed position No fuel or air could pass tru, destroy cyclinder wall, spark plug fused the valve closed. Bent the push rod and damaged the cam roller. After new motor was in stall still have drivabley problems Dealer is asking for 8 new injector On a 36,244 mile SUV
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the engine revved, but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was then towed to a transmission specialist, where the same assessment was made. The transmission specialist determined that the transmission needed to be replaced or rebuilt. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.
In 2022, I had to have cylinders 1-7 replaced. At the time, these vehicles were known to have transmission problems. My vehicle was 3,000 over warranty and Chevy denied any fault and only reimbursed me half of the $1500 to get replaced. Today, my complete transmission failed. Two years later. Chevy denied any fault regardless of lawsuits filed. Is going to cost $6300 for total replacement. I have NEVER in my life had transmission issues on a vehicle--especially so early in the life of the vehicle. The car almost left me stranded on the side of the interstate. Chevy knows about this problem and will not make good on a vehicle I paid over $60000 for.
I have a 2017 Chevy Tahoe Z71, and the paint on the hood , now moving to the top of the Tahoe is showing visible defects. The hood paint started to look cloudy. Even after buffing and polishing it would not improve. Talk to a professional detailer who stated that the problem was with the clear coat. The cost to repair and repaint the vehicle would be way more than an average citizen can afford; especially this day in time. People have mentioned it may require sanding the exterior down to bare metal, which would affect the car’s resale value etc ..After doing some research , I do see this is a problem with many GM vehicles. What is GM doing to make this correction. Pics can be sent upon request. Looking to seek a lawyer.
The hood and top of the car on multiple tahoes and suburbans with this body style and year have the clear missing I have family &friends same issue, as well as the bottom plastic piece by windshield wipers crack quick/loosen causing possible water to get in or defrost system to stall, also does not go through car wash systems many Chevy models in the 2017-2020 years have issue especially 2017/2018
The transmissions stopped working while my wife was driving. The car stopped in the intersection. She was able to shut it off and it restarted so that she could pull into a parking lot. Car was towed to the dealer. The car has 74,000 miles on it and we were told it needs a new transmission and that it would cost $6900 to repair. I called GM and filed a claim with them in hopes they would offer some assistance. I was told nothing could be done. I have since spoke to several repair shops and checked the internet and have found out that it seems GM is having this problem often, for the years 2015-2017 for the Tahoe, Yukon, and Silverado.
Urgent Attention Needed for Chevy 2017 Tahoe Safety Concern The Chevy 2017 Tahoe is presenting a critical safety issue with the recurring error message "Trailer Brake System" on the dashboard. This leads to a complete shutdown of the vehicle and loss of control at random intervals, posing a severe danger, especially on high-speed roads and highways. Despite attempting repairs, including replacing the controller module, plug adapter, and trailer brake switch, the issue persists. This widespread problem, affecting many users, indicates a potential manufactured defect demanding immediate attention and a recall. It is crucial to address this matter promptly due to its hazardous nature, even for those who do not use a trailer. The safety of vehicle occupants is at stake, and urgent action is required to rectify this concerning issue.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at 75 MPH, several unknown warning lights flashed on the instrument panel, and the vehicle briefly shut off, then restarted while still in motion. Later, while driving at 45 MPH and attempting to complete a turn, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was unable to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, but the vehicle was able to restart. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The stability control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed failures with the alternator and transmission. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V761000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Service Brakes, Electronic Stability Control), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
There is a trailer brake warning that comes up ALOT! Even more when it is raining or cold out . It beeps continuously, can’t see the speed I am going because it’s always flashing trailer brake warning. When I dismiss the message it pops on again and again. I have read up on this VERY COMMON ISSUE , alot of people are having with the trailer brake system warning. It makes the radio system even go crazy . And me Crazy! Constantly hearing the beeping over and over .
See attached document for complaint
Just over 115,xxx miles and the transmission is shuddering, difficulty with taking off, RPMs are not steady, delayed acceleration due to sputtering. When at signal light it acts as if it is not going to take off, which could cause other vehicles to rear end my vehicle. While on highway going speed limit these same symptoms occur which could cause multiple vehicle crashes. No service engine lights have come on, when attached to portable code reader, no codes were coming up. Vehicle has been serviced numerous time without concern, fluids were changed at recommended mileage. Problem has been confirmed by independent service center that the torque converter clutch is malfunctioning. Transmission is automatic, 6 spd, HMD, 6L-80
2017 Chevrolet Tahoe Brake Booster Vacuum Pump failed and had to be replaced. Booster sensor as well at cost of $1,493.22. Our vehicle almost hit another car in line for pre-school with children around and almost hit our garage doors due to this issue. Full recall in Canada but not USA? Why? "The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time. As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash"
I just experienced an issue with my transmission, I was driving home from work in cruise control and started up a bridge when my vehicle seemed to disengage the clutch and start rapidly slowing down (I was going up the incline of the bridge) and the motor redlined trying to maintain speed. I immediately switched it back into regular drive mode and noticed that the engine was not engaging with the transmission. I then placed the column shift into the manual setting and dropped down to 3rd gear, the tahoe gave a really abrupt and hard impact on the transmission and I got it to reangage to continue up the incline. This happened more than a dozen times in the remaining 15 miles to my home, both in and out of the manual setting. I did not attempt to go back to curise control. When I got home I turned the car off and checked the trans fluid level and saw nothing on the dipstick, I let it cool off and I have fluid past the "hot" mark and into the S curve of the stick. I was able to determine that my transmission was having a majority of its issues beyone 3rd gear. After doing some very quick research on Google it appears that I'm not the only one having transmission issues, primarily with 3rd and 4th gear of this year make and model. Is this something that is being investigated? My vehicle has 103k miles and is planned for a fluid change in the next couple of weeks (transmission, transfer case, and rear differential), per the O&M book that came with the vehicle. This just happened today and I have not had an opportunity to reach out to the dealership to question them about it. There were no warning indicators or error messages during the drive or during the time this occurred. All recall notices have been repaired on the tahoe to date, and I have kept up with the other fluid changes and other misc o&m recommendations. Please, any feedback would be very appreciated as this is my primary and safest vehicle to transport my kids.
The contact's brother owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the message "Reduced Engine Power" was displayed. Additionally, the vehicle decelerated to 20 MPH. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that he turned on the hazards lights and continued driving 20 MPH. The contact stated that upon arriving to his residence, he connected an OBD reader to the vehicle and read diagnostic code P2138, which indicated an accelerator pedal sensor failure. The contact stated that he replaced the part himself; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that there was water leaking inside the vehicle from the roof antenna mounting point, which caused the driver's side fuse box to rust, causing electrical failures. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
Transmission on my 2017 Chevy Tahoe failed and needs a complete replacement. I notice a class-action lawsuit has been filed for other Chevy models but the Tahoe was not include although it has the same transmission/gearbox. I was on a major interstate when the transmission failed causing the vehicle to decelerate. The car was towed to a Chevy dealership where they have confirmed the transmission needs to be replaced and this has been an ongoing issue with this vehicle. There were no warning lights prior. The check engine light came on after the transmission failed.
All of a sudden my transmission (6 speed) started slipping. No abuse /drag racing lol. Just normal driving. I limped into my local dealer and they said the transmission was “shot” and that they couldn’t let m drive it home. Also the transmission mechanic was outside smoking and I vape so I started a conversation with him about these 6 sp transmissions and he said “ I can’t count how many I’ve replaced” “ even with less than 80k miles. This is negligent at the least by Chevrolet to intstall dangerous and threatening transmissions. Bad Chevy BAD!
The brakes become very hard to engage while at a low speed, consistently in traffic and the car rider line at school. It has caused me to almost hit cars in front of me and people walking between cars. To me, it feels like the brakes are sticking and not releasing fully when I release the pedal to recoil and as if a line is going to be filled with pressurized air to work again and it is not able to do so. If i wait and let the cars go far ahead of me and the blast without using brakes, there isn’t a need to keep using the brake m, but this is not how to drive in traffic and it isn’t safe. It also is scary to not rely on the function of my brakes and it is putting people at risk every day I drop my kids off or kick them up from school. I have had the brakes evaluated for repair, but I am told there is no issue with the brake pads or roters. No warning lights. It resolved after having my brakes evaluated and tires replaced, but it has returned.
Air bag lights it’s on, I’m already went to a shop and they put the scanner and said that there’s no air bag And transmission go out with 78xxx miles
Front passenger air bag warning light lit up during road trip to NM. (1400 miles) warning bell sounded. We were very concerned airbag would explode at any minute. This was second time airbag light went off. First time was a loose sensor over drivers head. This time we repaired airbag in passenger seat at cost of $1800!. Now light is on again! This must be defective and needs a recall.
The power steering motor went out while I was driving. The message center on my dashboard alerted me just seconds before I couldn't steer. Luckily I was on a residential street and was able to get out of the road with a lot of effort steering. The car was taken to a local mechanic and we were told the power steering motor went out. The mechanic ordered the part and replaced it. The process took 3 weeks total to get the part, replace it and Chevy dealer reprogramming it.
First the brakes went out, then the AC, now the transmission. It has only 60,000 miles.
Braking system becomes inoperable when the brakes are applied at the same time the forward collision system is engaged by the vehicles computer.
