General Motors, LLC (M) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with third-row seats. The rivet that retains the buckle to the mounting bracket in the left or right side third-row seat belt buckle assembly may have been improperly formed.
Remedy Status
Dealers will inspect the rivet head formation on both the left and right side third-row seat belt buckle assemblies and replace seat belt buckle assemblies, as necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed September 28, 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 1, 2022. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021 Yukon, Yukon XL, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, Cadillac Escalade, and Cadillac Escalade ESV vehicles. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Remedy Status
Dealers will provide an over-the-air (OTA) update for the Body Control Module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 15, 2022. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon vehicles. The fuel tank assemblies may be missing adhesive between two layers of the fuel tank shell which may result in a fuel leak.
Remedy Status

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021 Buick Envision, Cadillac CT4, CT5, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Corvette, Suburban, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL vehicles. The communications gateway module incorrectly processes a loss of communication with the sensing diagnostic module (SDM), causing the air bag malfunction indicator light to inconsistently illuminate.
Remedy Status
The communications gateway module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 1, 2021. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe and GMC Yukon XL and 2020-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles. The seat belt brackets may not be secured to the seat frame in the front-row center seating position.
Remedy Status
GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect left-side and right-side front-row center seat-belt bracket attachments and reassemble it correctly as necessary, free of charge. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV and 2021 GMC Canyon and Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500, Yukon, Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV and Chevrolet Blazer, Camaro, Colorado, Equinox, Silverado 1500, 2500 and 3500, Suburban and Tahoe vehicles. Incorrect bolts may have been used at one or more fastening locations to secure the seat belts to the vehicle. If an incorrect bolt was used, the seat belt may not be properly attached to the vehicle.
Remedy Status
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the suspect bolts, free of charge. The recall began January 29, 2021. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles. During general assembly, a repair involved removal of one or both front seats. The attachment bolts for the front seats may not have been properly reinstalled after the repair was completed.
Remedy Status
GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat attachments for both front seats and install attachment bolts as needed, free of charge. The recall began December 21, 2020. The fuel pump power control module may cause the fuel pump to fail or operate intermittently, which can interrupt fuel flow to the engine, and cause an unexpected engine stall.
Remedy Status

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe vehicles. The second-row center seat belt latch may be trapped beneath the trim bezel and therefore inaccessible. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208. "Occupant Crash Protection."
Remedy Status

The third-row outboard seat belts may have been entrapped or misrouted behind the outboard seat-folding mechanism, which could result in damaged seat belts.
Remedy Status
GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the third-row outboard seat belts, replacing any damaged seat belts, and rerouting them if necessary, free of charge. The transmission control valve may fail and cause the rear wheels to lock-up.
Remedy Status
Dealers will install new transmission control module software, free of charge. GM will provide a special coverage program to cover the repair of transmissions that are identified by the remedy software as containing a defective control valve. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with a 6.2L V8 gas engine. The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.
Remedy Status
Dealers will inspect the engine, and as necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass inspection, dealers will add higher viscosity oil, install 6 oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and update the owner's manual. Repairs will be performed free of charge. The original fuel tank may have been replaced with an incorrect fuel tank, which can allow fuel to leak in a rollover crash.

The car appeared to run out of gas. It had a half tank of gas. Lucky when it happened I was in the parking lot of my hotel for the night. I was pulling a boat at the time and was 50 miles from a Chevy dealership. Had the car towed to a repair shop where they determined the fuel control module failed. Chevy refused to cover the repair or my inconvenience. There was no previous indication there might be a problem.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while at a red light, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact researched and was made aware of an unknown NHTSA recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the fuel pump control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
Suspension system failed- had to replaced, Car difficult to control when operating. Repaired by dealer- Country Chevrolet, Benton KY- owner paid for repair. [XXX] Engine failure- knocking and difficult to drive on returning trip from Louisville KY to Benton, KY. Taken to dealer on 4.6.2026 - made it without being towed- extremely slow- traffic hazard- Tahoe has lots of road miles- always repaired and serviced by dealer. There were no warning lights, symbols or indicators that there was a problem. Dealer still determining the extent of the damage. The component at issue is the engine, which suffered a sudden and catastrophic failure due to unknown causes. At no time prior to this incident were there any warnings, symptoms, or indications of an underlying mechanical defect that would have allowed for preventative action. While operating the vehicle on the highway with my family present, multiple warning indicators activated simultaneously, including a blinking check engine light, traction control light, ESC warning, and a forward collision warning. Immediately thereafter, the vehicle experienced a rapid and significant loss of power accompanied by a loud and persistent engine knocking noise, rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate and placing the occupants at risk. It is important to emphasize that traction control and ESC systems are not causally related to an engine misfire condition, further supporting that this event was abrupt and not part of a progressive or diagnosable issue. A diagnostic scan performed at that time identified a misfire in cylinder 1. Upon delivery of the vehicle to the dealership for inspection, it was determined that the engine had suffered complete internal failure and was deemed “blown.” This finding confirms the occurrence of a catastrophic mechanical breakdown. Based on the sudden onset, absence of prior warning, and severity of the failure, there is no reasonable basis to attribute this condition to normal wear and tear, operator misuse, or neglect. Rather, the facts support the conclusion that this was the result of a latent defect or internal mechanical failure beyond the operator’s control. Accordingly, this matter should be addressed under applicable warranty coverage or consumer protection standards.
During highway driving, alert on dashboard stated “electrical system failing enter idle mode”. Tahoe slowed down and then engine began knocking right as it shut off resulting in needing to coast to the shoulder of the highway safely since engine was off. Towed to dealership and then they came back saying needed a new battery, new alternator belt, pulley and water compartment. After those installed, additional call was made indicating the engine needed a full replacement as it keeps overheating despite no sensor alerts and codes are being tripped. Here we are asked to pay 16K for new engine install and unable to fix.
My Tahoe has 108,000 miles on it. It broke down in the middle of the road and refused to go into gear with zero symptoms prior to this. We had it towed to the dealership and were told it is the Transmission Valve Body. This is a known issue but our VIN isn't covered for some reason so we have to pay out of pocket for this costly repair that is a known problem!
Without warning my Tahoe would no start 60 miles from home due to a faulty fuel pump module. I was stranded and the vehicle needed to be towed to a GM dealership for repairs. Many 2021 Chevrolet Tahoes have been recalled for this problem and I believe my vehicle should be included in the recall and $787.50 should be reimbursed by including my vehicle (573 Safety Recall Report 21v-739. September 16,2021 GM part #13537053 Fuel Pump Control Module. I have paid receipts .
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the message “Reduced Acceleration - Drive Safely” was displayed. The vehicle then started shaking abnormally. The contact pulled into a nearby parking lot, turned off the vehicle, and waited for a while before restarting the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, the warning lights remained illuminated, and the vehicle continued to shake abnormally. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone, where a certified mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that there was a bent rod inside the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed the diagnostic result and that the failure was causing additional damage to the crankshaft. The dealer determined that there was a misfire in the engine and that the valve lifter was malfunctioning. The contact was informed that the lifter and the camshaft needed to be replaced, and the engine needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched and became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was referred to the dealer to inquire about a Goodwill Repair for which the contact could be reimbursed if the VIN was later added to the recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Motor is not included in the 6.2 recall for some reason. It is consistently burning through 3 qts of oil every 2-3k miles. This is a major concern considering I travel a lot. I want to know why this specific motor isn’t covered in the recall considering it is having the same issues as the current recall. This has been an ongoing issue and I have been waiting for a recall notice. GM dealership says there is no recall and won’t ever be one.
The backup camera quit working
Since March of 2025 I have identified a critical safety defect with my vehicle. When driving and without warning, the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral, experiences a loss of propulsion, and the engine shuts off. This has occurred multiple times in which I narrowly escaped collisions with other vehicles or objects. If this would occur at a high rate of speed, it would certainly result in serious accident including possible fatality. I have experienced three near-accident scenarios when I had children in the vehicle. I have worked with Classic Chevrolet in Sugar Land, Texas who has made six attempts at repair. They have each time found a different component attribute to an error code and replaced that part. After each visit they tell me that the car is fixed and safe to drive. They have never been able to provide a clear explanation as to why I am experience this reoccurring issue, but attribute it to a different part each time. Within 5 days to 2 months, the incident repeats. I have recent video of the incident that I can share. Chevrolet Customer Care has been minimized my concern and informs me that their Service staff has found the vehicle to be fully operational and safe to operate. I have spent over $6,000 in failed repairs. I do not feel safe operating this vehicle. That list of repairs includes: March 7, 2025 - battery replacement March 28, 2025 - DC/DC power converter April 22, 2025 - ECM updates January 8, 2026 - •Throttle body replacement •Serpentine belt replacement •Engine air filter replacement •Transmission fluid flush •Coolant fluid flush •Fuel injection cleaning •Hydrogen carbon cleaning service January 23, 2026 - power control module (recall) January 30, 2026 - rear differential system replacement March 10, 2026 - • Replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump • Replacement of the DC power supply converter • Hydrogen carbon cleaning service I can share all invoices. On March 14,2026 I was driving 80 MPH on the interstate and the vehicle shifted to Neutral and shutoff. Shortly before that the vehicle revved to 4000 RPM and you could feel rhythmic vibrations. The vehicle was towed to a Chevy dealership and diagnosed as loss of propulsion needing a new engine. Tahoe had 104,000 miles at failure.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a breach in communication with the OnStar system. The contact believed that the brakes failed, and several other safety systems became inoperable due to a failure with the OnStar system. The dealer was notified of the failure, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 114,000.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision Avoidance message was intermittently displayed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where a computer module was replaced. While driving at various speeds, there was an intermittent knocking sound coming from the engine, with the check engine warning light illuminated. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the knocking sound became constant. The vehicle was driven to the dealer, and upon inspection, the mechanic discovered a bent engine rod inside the engine. The vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure, and the contact was provided an estimate for the repair. Upon investigation, the contact discovered the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was initially notified of the failure through the dealer, and the contact was later informed that the manufacturer agreed to cover half the cost of an engine replacement. Upon calling the manufacturer directly, the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
The sound in my entire truck goes in and out. Even my blinker signal does not make sound and I have to look down to ensure my blinker is on which could lead to an accident.
I was driving yesterday and noticed my transmission started to shift hard and unnecessarily. Then I received a warning that propulsion was affected and to drive with care. The check engine light came on. I was able to make it home, but the vehicle wouldn't go into reverse. I had it towed to a dealership today and they identified the issue as being related to the valve body. Apparently a recall was just issued for this on the 2022 Chevy Tahoes. I'm not sure why this isn't being extended to the 2021 model.
Transmission issue -while driving 55 mph the RPM’s revved up and the vehicle felt as it it was in 2nd or 3rd gear. Warning lights came on stating “rapid deceleration use caution” and the engine light came on. The vehicle was able to go into park but upon shifting back into drive, it did not change gears. Sounds as if it is being driven in 2nd or 3rd gear with RPM’s elevated.
Driving down the highway and I lost all the gears it went from driving speed then wouldn’t go over 30 mph. When I got pulled into a business on the side of the road then tried to restart it it then wouldn’t go into reverse. It was dangerous because there was cars behind me going the speed limit then my car just lost speed. No warnings it’s not throwing any codes. Looking on the internet it seems it’s the transmission or valve body

While driving my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe at highway speeds (approximately 60 mph), the transmission suddenly malfunctioned due to what the dealership is telling was a valve body failure. Without warning, the vehicle lost proper propulsion and began to decelerate rapidly in active traffic. I did not receive adequate warning before the failure occurred. The sudden loss of power at highway speed created a very dangerous situation. Vehicles behind me had to brake abruptly, and I was nearly rear-ended. This presented a serious safety risk to me, my three children, and surrounding drivers. The issue was later diagnosed as a transmission valve body failure. A failure of this nature should not occur on a relatively new vehicle, and there Is currently a recall on other 2021 Tahoe’s for this same issues. My car is sitting at the Chevy dealership waiting for a full valve body replacement, which the dealership said they are having issues getting the part and will take over 2 weeks. The cost is around 5k to fix.
