NO WARNING, OUR TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 45,000 MILES ON OUR 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAIZER. ONLY HAVE SECOND GEAR. IT WILL BE TOWED TO THE DEALER, DOESN'T SOUND LIKE GM WILL COVER ANYTHING AS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH ON A GRAVEL ROAD, CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WAS LOST AND IT CRASHED INTO A TREE HEAD ON. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WAS NO PRIOR BRAKING AND SEAT BELTS WERE WORN. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. THE DEALER WAS ALERTED.
HVAC CONTROLS DON'T ALL WORK, RADIO INOPERATIVE AT TIMES, REAR WINDOWS WILL NOT MOVE UP OR DOWN, HAD TO REPLACE FAN CLUTCH. ALL RECENTLY. *JB
OWN 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WHICH I PURCHASED USED IN MAY 2004 WITH APPROX. 35-37,000 MILES ON IT. DRIVEN ON HIGHWAY 5 DAYS A WEEK 61 MILES ROUND TRIP TO WORK. VEHICLE DEVELOPED LOUD ROARING NOISE, POOR ACCELERATION, INCREASED GAS USAGE WITHIN THE LAST YEAR WHICH INITIALLY WAS OCCASIONAL BUT AS OF YESTERDAY BECAME NON-STOP. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. NEARLY HIT FROM BEHIND DUE TO INABILITY TO ACCELERATE WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. DIAGNOSTIC CODE PO495 WHICH ENDED UP BEING FAN CLUTCH. PART AT PARTS STORE WAS 217.99 W/TAX. AFRAID TO TAKE TO DEALERSHIP AS MULTIPLE OTHER OWNERS WITH SAME PROBLEMS PAID $600+ FOR REPAIRS WITH MAJORITY BEING LABOR. FREQUENCY OF FAN CLUTCH PROBLEMS BY OTHER OWNERS MAKES IT APPARENT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL BY GM. *NM
I EXPERIENCED TOTAL BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE WITH NO WARNING OR INDICATION ON A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WITH 44,000 MILES (WHICH I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF)! I WAS SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE NICE DRIVER BEHIND ME INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR HAS NO BRAKE LIGHTS. HE SAID THAT HAPPENS A LOT WITH THESE CARS, THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH BLOWS. I WISH I HAD MORE TIME TO TALK TO HIM, BILL ESTES CHEVROLET IN INDIANAPOLIS CHARGED ME 200 DOLLARS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND PUT ELECTRICAL TAPE AROUND IT. I NEARLY GOT REAR ENDED DRIVING TO THE DEALER WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON! AT THE DEALER, THE MECHANIC EXPLAINED TO ME THAT WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKE, THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH HARNESS WAS PINCHED BETWEEN THE BRACKET AND SOMETHING ELSE. THE DOCUMENTATION FROM THE DEALER READS LIKE THIS: DIAG AS SHORTED BRAKE LAMP SWITCH HARNESS APROXIMATELY 3" FROM BRAKE LAMPSWITCH. REPAIR HARNESS AND REROUTE AWAY FROM BRAKET. THE ONLY PARTS DESCRIBED WERE 'SHOP SUPPLIES' (ELECTRICAL TAPE?). THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THEY DON'T DESIGN THESE CARS; INDICATING, THAT HE THOUGHT IT WAS A DESIGN ISSUE. WHILE I'M DISAPPOINTED THAT WE HAD TO SPEND 189.54 TO GET THE THING FIXED, I AM THANKFUL THAT NO ONE WAS HURT - I TRANSPORT MY 3 YEAR OLD TWINS IN THIS CAR. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS ISSUE AND CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY FOR OTHER DRIVERS. I DECIDED TO CHECK OUT THE NHTSA WEBSITE AFTER I READ ON AN INTERNET CHAT ROOM THAT THERE WAS CONSIDERATION TO ORDERING GM TO RECALL THE CARS FOR THIS ISSUE. *JB
EXTERIOR SIDE MIRRORS WITH MEMORY OPTION FAIL TO RETURN TO SET POSITION WHEN KEY IS INSERTED IN IGNITION. MIRRORS HAVE TO BE RESET ALMOST EVERY TIME KEY IS INSERTED IN IGNITION. DEALER RE-PROGRAMMED MIRRORS. BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T NOTICE MIRRORS HAVE MOVED AND YOU GO TO MAKE LANE CHANGE IN EMERGENCY MIRRORS COULD BE OUT OF ADJUSTMENT CAUSING INCREASED TIME TO CHANGE LANES. *NM
I HAVE A CRACK IN THE FILL NECK OF MY GAS TANK. VERY EXPENSIVE FIX ON A 2002 TRAILBLAZER EXT. CAUSED A LOSS OF SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY AND EFFECTS THE PICK UP ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING UP HILLS, EVEN SMALL INCLINES. *JB
AFTER RETURNING FROM A BUSINESS TRIP. I STARTED MY CAR AT THE AIRPORT, AND THE SECOND THAT I TURNED THE IGNITION THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY TO GET IT FIXED. AFTER LOOKING AT IT DEALER SAID THE REPAIRS WOULD COST $1500, AND THAT BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY GM WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. AFTER CALLING THE GM CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE, THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING, THAT I SHOULD TAKE MY COMPLAINT TO THE BBB. AFTER THAT CONVERSATION I DECIDED TO PAY TO HAVE THE REPAIRS MADE, AND THEN HAVE THE BBB ARBITRATE THE SITUATION. BUT ON THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY JUNE 20, 2006. THE DEALER CALLED AND SAID THAT GM WOULD NOT PROVIDE HIM WITH NEEDED TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO DIAGNOSE WHY THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. HE SAID THAT UNTIL I AGREE NOT TO SUE THEM OVER THIS, THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE THE NEEDED INFORMATION TO HELP FIX MY CAR. I DO NOT FEEL THIS IS RIGHT. *JB
2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER HAS A SERIOUS FAN CLUTCH PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAS 52,000 MILES. THE CLUTCH FAN STAYS ENGAGED AT ANY SPEED, VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY LOOSE ACCELERATION AND ALSO GETS POOR GAS MILEAGE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVENTUALLY CAME ON ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER THE VEHICLE STATED TO SOUND LIKE A TANK. WILL TAKE THIS TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AS BASED OFF OF THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB WITH OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THE DEALER CHARGING $700.00 TO REPAIR WHEN THE PART CAN ACTUALLY BE PURCHASED LOCALLY FOR $229.00. THERE ARE DEFINITE PROBLEMS WITH THIS AND BASED OFF OF ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS GM IS WELL AWARE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM, AND WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. *JB
I WAS GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I STOPPED AT A GAS STATION FOR A CUP OF COFFEE WITH MY SISTER AND 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. WHEN I WENT TO PUT MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR I NOTICED SMOKE COMING UP FROM UNDER THE PLASTIC PART IN THE BACK SEAT ON THE DOOR PART. I SAW SOMETHING SPARK AND TOOK THE CASING OFF AND THEN IT SPARKED AGAIN AND IT FLAMED SOME EVERYTIME I BLOW IT OUT IT WOULD SPARK AGAIN. I GOT THE WIRES OFF THE METAL FROM THE DOOR AND THE ONE WIRE CAME APART. THE PLASTIC THAT IS COVERING THE WIRES WAS MELTED OFF AND THE TAPE THAT WAS OVER THAT WAS ALSO MELTED OFF. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN NAZARETH PA TO GET IT LOOKED AT. THEY HAD TO REPLACE 4 WIRES AND 3 FUSES. IT COST ME $100.00 TO FIX. GM CALLED ME AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE I ALREADY HAD IT FIXED AND THAT THEY SAID IT WAS NOT THAT SERIOUS. I TOLD HIM THAT IF I DIDN'T GO GET COFFEE AND DIDN'T NOTICE THE SMOKE IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE THEN IT WAS AND THAT MY 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN THE BACK SEAT. HE SAID HE WAS SORRY BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT HE COULD DO AND HE WAS GLAD NO ONE WAS HURT. THE PERSON THAT I TALKED TO WAS JOE GARCIA # 8667905700 EXT. 21260 CASE # 1-415496321. IT IS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY HAVING IT FIXED IT WAS THE POINT THAT THEY SAID IT WAS NOTHING. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED A FUEL ODOR CAME FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE REASON FOR THE ODOR. AFTERWARDS, A NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 02V121000 WAS ISSUED FOR THE FUEL FILTER. THE FUEL FILTER WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP UNDER THE RECALL. THE FUEL ODOR PERSISTED AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN OCTOBER OF 2002. WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE CONTACT NOTICED A PUDDLE OF FUEL WHERE THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED SINCE THE PREVIOUS DAY. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FUEL TANK IN APRIL OF 2005. THE FUEL ODOR CONTINUED TO COME FROM THE VEHICLE.
MY CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER BLEW ITS TRANSMISSION FOR THE 1ST TIME ON 6/1/06 AT 47000 MILES. THE REPAIR QUOTE WAS $2700 BUT CHEVY ENDED UP COVERING ALL BUT $200 AS A WARRANTY REPAIR. ON 2/24/12, IT BLEW ITS TRANSMISSION FOR THE 2ND TIME AT 94000 MILES. THE CAR STILL HAS ITS ORIGINAL BRAKES, BUT IS NOW ON TRANSMISSION #3. THE REPAIR QUOTE THIS TIME IS $3038. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A DESIGN DEFECT IN THIS TRANSMISSION, AS THE CAR IS JUST DRIVEN UNDER AVERAGE CONDITIONS (NO TOWING, NO HEAVY LOADS, ETC.) *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED TWICE WHILE THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT WAS BUCKLED INTO THE VEHICLE, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT UNLATCHED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC.
TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY AND THE VEHICLES SEEMS TO "SKIP" WHEN DRIVING, HAD CHECKED AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS SERVICING. ALSO, SEVERAL TIMES THE CAR HAS JUMPED FROM 2WD TO 4WD ON ITS OWN, WHILE BEING DRIVEN. THANKFULLY ONLY WHEN GOING APPROXIMATELY 10 - 15 MPH. NOW THE SERVICE 4WD LIGHT IS ON. FUEL FILTER NEEDS REPLACING. OXYGEN SENSOR NEEDS REPLACING. THIS CAR IS A 2002 WITH 71,000 MILES. *NM
FUEL LINE DISCONNECTS AT THE FUEL FILTER WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE PAST NINE MONTHS. STRONG FUEL ODOR IN THE CABIN. BOTH TIMES, OTHER MOTORISTS BROUGHT THE FUEL LEAK TO MY ATTENTION. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR OPENS WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. AN NHTSA RECALL, #05V494000 WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE CONCERNING, THE LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES: DOORS: LATCH HOWEVER; THE RECALL DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP ONLY REPLACED THE WEATHER STRIPPING ALONG THE TWO REAR DOORS. THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR STILL OPENS WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT OFFER TO REPLACE THE INOPERABLE LATCH AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL WITHOUT CHARGE. UPDATED 06/15/06. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH WITH PRIOR BRAKING, THE VEHICLE VEERED OFF THE ROAD AND SLID INTO A DITCH. THERE WAS FRONT END DAMAGE; THE FRAME RAIL AND HOOD BENT. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE AND THE DRIVER WAS UNAWARE OF WHAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO VEER OFF THE ROAD. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD TRAUMA AND THE SEAT BELT WAS NOT WORN. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, BUT HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC. UPDATED 06/16/06. *JB
THE RIGHT SIDE MIRROR ON MY 2002 TRAILBLAZER CHANGES SETTINGS WHENEVER THE CAR IS PUT INTO REVERSE EVEN WHEN THIS FEATURE HAS BEEN LOCKED OUT. IT DOES NOT RETURN TO THE PROPER SETTING FOR DRIVING AND I HAVE HAD TWO RECENT CLOSE CALLS BY NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE CARS APPROACHING ON MY RIGHT SIDE. THE MIRROR AND CONTROLS WERE CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE MIRROR REPLACED ONCE WHILE THE CAR WAS IN WARRANTY. I WOULD BE HAPPY IF THE BACKUP FEATURE WOULD STAY LOCKED OUT BUT HAVE THE CONTROL FEATURE WORK SO I COULD ADJUST THE MIRRORS AND HAVE THEM STAY ADJUSTED. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW BUT THE RECENT CLOSE CALLS SCARED ME INTO REPORTING IT. *JB
MORNING OF INCIDENT, WOULD HERE A "CLUNKING" NOISE AFTER ENGAGING THE ACCELERATOR. THAT AFTERNOON, WHILE DRIVING IN FAST LANE OF INTERSTATE AT 65 MILES PER HOUR, UPON ENGAGING THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO HAVE TO DOWN SHIFT, AND INSTEAD, HEARD A LOUD "WHIRRING" NOISE, AND VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN. UPON EVALUATION, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO INTO REVERSE, AND HAS TROUBLE SHIFTING. REPAIR SHOPPED DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS GONE OUT. *JB
(1) THIS COMPLAINT RELATES TO THE FRONT WIPER MOTOR ON A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE PARTIAL FAILURE OCCURS WHEN THERE IS LIGHT TO MODERATE INCLEMENT WEATHER (RAIN,SNOW,ETC.) AND THE INTERMITTENT SETTING IS USED ON THE FRONT WIPERS. (2) THE WIPERS ON ALL OF THE INTERMITTENT MODES ARE VERY WEAK, AND STRUGGLE TO RETURN TO THEIR RESTING POSITION AFTER THE SWEEP ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THE WIPERS "CHATTER" ON THE WAY DOWN FROM THEIR UPWARD POSITION, CREATING HAZARDOUS VISUAL CONDITIONS. THE WIPER MOTOR IS VERY UNDER POWERED, AND CLEARLY NOT FUNCTIONING AS IT SHOULD. THE RESULT IS INEFFECTIVE CLEARING OF WATER FROM THE WINDSHIELD ON THE INTERMITTENT SETTING, WHICH MAKES DRIVING DIFFICULT. (3) GM HAD A PREVIOUS RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 04V046000, GM RECALL NUMBER: 04005) TO FIX A PROBLEM RELATING TO MOISTURE ENTERING THE FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND CAUSING A FAILURE. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE, BUT CLEARLY THE RECALL HAS NOT FULLY REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT ALL FRONT WIPER MOTORS SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACE, NOT JUST "INSPECTED" AND PATCHED. DAMAGE MAY HAVE ALREADY OCCURRED TO THE MOTOR DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE RECALL WAS NOT ISSUED UNTIL TWO YEARS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT/SOLD. I CONTACTED GM TO SEE IF I COULD GET THE MOTOR REPLACED FREE OF COST EVEN THOUGH MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND WAS TOLD IT COULD NOT BE DONE. I NOW MUST PAY FOR AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY GM AT NO COST TO THE OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE. *JB
I NOTICED MY VEHICLE WAS LEAKING OIL ON MY DRIVEWAY SO I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AS I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE LUBE N OIL I WENT TO TURN AND MY POWER STEERING LOCKED UP ALMOST CAUSED ME TO CRASH WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE LUBE N OIL THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND SAID ITS NOT THE ENGINE OIL ITS YOUR POWER STEERING THAT'S LEAKING AND IT HAS ALL LEAKED OUT. SO THEY TOOK IT OVER TO THE SHOP BUT AFTER 2 HRS WAITING THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG IM VERY UPSET THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN TO A CAR THAT IS ONLY A FEW YEARS OLD I WILL HAVE TO TAKE MY VEHICLE IN ON MONDAY TO HAVE IT CHECKED. *NM

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE AND THE SPARE TIRE WAS APPLIED TO THE VEHICLE. *AK 05/30/06 UPDATED - AFTER THE SPARE WAS MOUNTED, CAR WAS DRIVEN TO COLONIAL CHEVROLET. SERVICE MANAGER CONCERN THAT BACKING PLATE FAILURE HAD CUT TIRE CAUSING FAILURE. MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED. *TT

2002 TRAILBLAZER WINDSHIELD WIPERS DO NOT TURN OFF. *TS THE CONSUMER HAD TO REMOVE THE FUSE TO GET THE WIPERS TO TURN OFF. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR THE WIPERS AND THE WORK HAD BEEN PERFORMED PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE. THE MILEAGE AT THE TIME WAS 60000 KILOMETERS. THE WIPER WORKED FINE PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIRS. RECALL 04V046000. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 04000 KILOMETERS AND THE WIPER CIRCUIT BOARD NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *NM ***NAR***

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING GASOLINE FUMES WERE DETECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE STEEL FUEL LINES HAD RUSTED THROUGH DUE TO SALT CORROSIONS. THE FUEL MODULE KIT WHICH INCLUDES LINES, PIPES AND FITTINGS WERE REPLACED.
I AM WRITING IN A COMPLAINT ON MY TRAILBLAZER TRANSMISSION. MY FIANCE DECIDED TO GO SHOPPING IN ST. LOUIS ABOUT 200 MILES FROM HOME ON HER RETURN HOME SHE WAS ABOUT 10 MILES FROM HOME AND SHE FEELS THIS INSTANT JERK THAT MADE HER GO OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN THE VEHICLE HAD A CONSTANT HUMMING NOISE. AFTER SHE GOT CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND CAME TO A STOP. SHE HAD NO GEARS OR REVERSE. I AM COMPLAINING BECAUSE IF SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN ST. LOUIS SHE PROBABLY WOULD HAVE HIT SOMEONE OR KILLED SOMEONE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IF SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE HIGH TRAFFIC AREA. I AM WRITING THIS LETTER BECAUSE I HAVE WROTE GM HEADQUARTERS AND THE SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. GM HEADQUARTERS TOLD ME FOR ME TO GET MY MONEY BACK THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO RECALL THE TRANSMISSION ON MY CERTAIN MODEL BEFORE I WOULD GET MY MONEY REFUNDED TO ME. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE RANGE SHIFT COLLAR FRACTURED RESULTING IN FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE AND WOULD NOT STAY IN THE PARK POSITION. THERE IS AN NHTSA RECALL, # 01V283000, REGARDING THE POWER TRAIN: TRANSFER CASE (4-WHEEL DRIVE). THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PRIOR TO THE RECALL.

WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULE: THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE RECALLS ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPER SYSTEMS ON CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS (THREE ON MY VEHICLE). MY WINDSHIELD WIPER CRAWLS TO A STOP WHEN SET ON HIGH SPEED IN HEAVY RAIN, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULE AT A COST OF $350+ BECAUSE IT HAS A SHORT IN IT, BUT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH A KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART, YET THE MANUFACTURER IS REFUSING TO REPLACE OR REPAIR THE DEFECT. WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULES ARE CLOSED SYSTEMS AND IF MINE HAS A SHORT IN IT, IT IS BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER WAS FAULTY AND MOISTURE WAS ALLOWED TO GET IN. *JB
THE SPARE TIRE RELEASE CABLE ON MY 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER BECAME TWISTED AND COULD HAVE BROKE RELEASING THE SPARE TIRE AS THE VEHICLE DROVE DOWN THE ROAD. THE SPARE TIRE HAD NEVER BEEN REMOVED FROM COMPARTMENT AND SO IT WOULD APPEAR TO BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. THE ENGINE REVVED UP TO 4,000 RPM'S; HOWEVER, THIS DID NOT CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND IT WENT BACK INTO GEAR. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AGAIN, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THIS HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THERE IS A BROKEN GEAR IN THE TRANSFER CASE AND THE TRANSFER CASE MUST BE REPLACED.
MY DRIVER'S HEATED SEAT IN MY '02 TRAILBLAZER BECOMES EXTREMELY HOT AFTER BEING TURNED ON FOR 20 SECONDS. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO MORE HI, MEDIUM, OR LOW SETTING AND ANY SETTING YOU HAVE IT ON STARTS TO BURN AND YOU CAN NOT SIT ON THE SEAT. *NM

I HAVE A 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. MY INSIDE LIGHTS HAVE STOPPED WORKING AND I ASSUMED THAT IS WAS DUE TO A BLOWN FUSE. VEHICLE FAILED EMISSIONS INSPECTION. 2) TOOK CAR FOR SERVICE WHERE THEY IDENTIFIED THAT THE GAS TANK'S FILL NIPPLE HAD SPLIT WHERE IT WAS JOINED TO THE TANK (STRESS FAILURE?). 3) I HEAT-WELDED THE NIPPLE BACK ON TO THE TANK. *JB

FACTORY INSTALLED BATTERY LEAKING ACID OUT OF THE SIDE MOUNTED TERMINALS AT 3.5 YEARS 40K MILES. NO WARRANTY COVERAGE AFTER 3 YEARS 36K. OTHER COMPLAINTS AND WEB-POSTINGS WITH SAME PROBLEM, OBVIOUSLY BATTERY IS DEFECTIVE. *NM
2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER - AT 60,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, I.E. NO REVERSE, AND ONLY FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. DEALER DIAGNOSED AS A BROKEN REACTION SHELL. THEY REPLACE THE REACTION SHELL AND OVERHAULED THE TRANSMISSION. AT 69,000 MILES HAD EXACTLY THE SAME SYMPTOMS. DEALER DIAGNOSED AS BROKEN REACTION INTERNAL GEAR CAUSED BY OWNER ROCKING CAR TO GET UNSTUCK. THEREFORE THE WARRANTY FROM THE FIRST FAILURE WAS NO GOOD. G.M. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED IN FEBRUARY OF 2005 FROM A VERY REPUTABLE DEALERSHIP IN THE HARRISBURG PA AREA. AFTER READING NUMEROUS ONLINE DISCUSSION BOARDS, IT'S VERY APPARENT TO ME THAT GM KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 4L65E TRANSMISSIONS FAILING, BUT REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, IN THE FORM OF A RECALL. I CALLED CHAPMAN CHEVROLET IN TEMPE, AZ AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 12/12/05 TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. ON 12/11/05 WHILE OUT CHRISTMAS SHOPPING MY TB STARTED TO WHINE WHILE IN MOTION, THEN LOST REVERSE. THE SERVICE CENTER CALLED THE AFTERNOON OF 12/12/05 TO LET ME KNOW THAT THE SUN SHELL GEAR HAD GONE OUT IN THE TRANSMISSION, AND THAT THE FOLLOWING DAY SOMEONE ASSOCIATED WITH THE EXTENDED WARRENTY PROGRAM WOULD COME OUT TO VERIFY THE REPAIRS, WHICH ALL THE REPAIRS WERE COVERED, FOR WHICH I ONLY HAD TO PAY THE $100.00 DEDUCTABLE. HOWEVER, IF I HAD NOT HAD THE EXTENDED WARRENTY THE REPAIRS WOULD HAVE COST APPX. $2700.00. YES, MY TB WAS PAST THE 3YEAR DATE OF PURCHASE, HOWEVER I WOULDN'T EXCPECT FOR A TRANSMISSION TO HAVE PROBLEMS OR GO OUT UNDER 100,000 MILES, UNLESS THE VEHICLE IS BEING USED COMMERCIALLY. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE QUALITY OF MY TB, AND PLAN TO GET RID OF IT BEFORE MY EXTENDED WARRENTY RUNS OUT, MY NEXT VEHICLE WILL NOT BE A GM PRODUCT. *NM
