WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY INJURIES, YET. THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT LOCKS UP AND WILL NOT RELEASE UNLESS YOU TAKE THE SEAT BELT OFF. I HAVE CONTACTED THE CHEVY RECALL #, BUT THEY DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I DID TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHEN ISSUED THE RECALL, BUT THEY DID NOTHING. I DO HAVE DATED DOCUMENT THAT STATES THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, BUT THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE IT UNDER THE RECALL. *JB
I HAVE A 2002 TRAILBLAZER. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPROGRAMMED TWICE IN 2002. LAST MONTH THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AS I EXITED THE OFF RAMP OF A HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CLOSEST CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. THEY CALLED ME A DAY LATER AND SAID THE SUN SHIELD HAD FALLEN APART AND THERE WERE FRAGMENTS OF THE TRANSMISSION ALL OVER THE PLACE. THIS VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AS IT HAS 77,000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT COST 3,000 TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION AND IS WILLING TO SUBMIT 1,500 FOR REIMBURSEMENT TO GM. THIS STINKS AS A TRANSMISSION SHOULD LAST A LOT LONGER THAN THIS AND IT CERTAINLY DOES NOT MAKE ANYONE WANT TO GO BUY A CAR FROM CHEVROLET. *JB
THE FAN CLUTCH ON MY '02 TRAILBLAZER IS STARTING TO GO BAD, WITH ENGINE ROARING AT INTERMITTENT TIMES, PER THE DEALER, WHO REFUSES TO WARRANTY IT, EVEN THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 17K ON IT. IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY BY 8 OR SO MONTHS. GM HAS SENT THE WRONG MESSAGE. CALLED CHEVY, THEIR EARS ARE CLOSED ALTHOUGH THEY OFFERED A MAINTENANCE DEAL IF I WOULD SAY I AM SATISFIED. SUCH A DEAL SINCE THEIR SERVICE PRICES ARE SKY-HIGH. UNACCEPTABLE. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD CLINGING NOISE IN TRANSMISSION. SHE COULD THEN ONLY GET THE VEHICLE TO GO IN FIRST GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A CERTIFIED DEALER. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THEY OFFERED NO FREE REMEDY.*AK UPDATED 1/11/2006 - *NM
CHEVY TRAILBLAZER DIRECTIONAL SIGNAL LEVER ACTIVATES FOUR WAY FLASHERS. CHEVY RECALLED 286,478 2003 VEHICLES (RECALL ID NO. 05V198000) BUT NOT 2002'S. SAME PROBLEM OCCURS ON 2002. ISSUE IS DRIVER CAN NOT SIGNAL INTENTION TO TURN. *JB
GASOLINE LEAK IN 2002 CHEV. TRAILBLAZER 87500 MILES. LEAK AROSE FROM RUSTED STEEL TUBING AT TOP OF TANK FROM THE SENDING UNIT. IT SEEMS THIS IS A DESIGN OR MANUFACTORING FAULT CONSIDERING CAR IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD. *NM
THE MANIFOLD CRACKED ON 2002 TRAILBLAZER WITH 89000 MILES ON IT. *JB
MY 4WD GAVE IN AND BROKE THE FRONT AXLE AND SEIZED THE FRONT DIFF. THIS HAPPENED IN APRIL AND WAS REPAIRED BY GM. GM PAYED 40% OF THE COST TO REPAIR. THE TRUCK HAD 68000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. THE TRUCK NOW HAS 72000 MILES ON IT AND THE TRASMITTION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I GUESS THE SUNSHELL IS AT FAULT, BUT REGARDLESS, PRETTY MUCH THE WHOLE TRUCKS DRIVE TRAIN HAS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE 75000 MILES. THIS SHOULDN'T BE THE CASE AND MAKES ME WONDER IF THIS VEHICLE IS A LEMON. *NM
1.- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE IN THE TRAILBLAZER EXT 2002 125,278 MILES. AC DELCO PROFESSIONAL BATTERY MAINTENANCE FREE 19001810 CATALOG 1810 (REPLACEMENT 78-6YR) HAS GREEN HYDROMETER COLOR BUT A SENSE ACID SMELL AROUND. 2.- TWO BUSINESS APPOINTMENTS WERE CANCELLED AND NO WAY TO GO OUT WITH THE CAR. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP FOR ASSISTANCE FRIDAY 18, 7:30 P.M. AND LEAVE A VOICEMAIL. THE DEALER RETURN THE PHONE CALL SATURDAY 19, 7:30 A.M. LATER I CALL BACK 9:00 A.M. AND ASK THEM WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT AND WHERE TO START...WITH THE BATTERY?? BUT THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE BOOKED AND NOT ABLE TO TAKE ANY OTHER APPOINTMENT UNTIL MONDAY....JUST IN CASE HOW MUCH WOULD BE.. 75 $ PLUS LABOR 25 $ TOTAL AROUND 100 $. CONSEQUENCES: TWO POTENTIAL BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES WERE LOST AS WELL AS THE OPPORTUNITY OF CAR ENJOYMENT AND FREEDOM. BATTERY REPLACED $ 80.99. ACID LEAKS THROUGH THE CAR. REQUEST FRIEND HELP FOR TIME TO BUY, DELIVER AND REPLACE THE BATTERY AT HOME. THE AC DELCO WEB SITE SAID THAT "THE BATTERY THAT COMES WITH A GM VEHICLE IS COVERED BY THE LIMITED WARRANTY OF THREE YEARS OR 36,000 MILES" IT IS REALLY NOT FAIR HOW A BATTERY CAN LOSE IT POSITIVE TERMINAL ITSELF AND WHY CONSUMER IS NOT COVERED AGAINST THIS DEFECT THAT INVOLVE TIME AND MONEY AS WELL AS OPPORTUNITIES AND MAJOR ACCIDENTS. 3.- SATURDAY 19, 10 A.M. I CALLED A FRIEND TO FIND ANOTHER BATTERY. BEFORE THAT WE TAKE OUT THE AC DELCO BATTERY FROM THE CAR THE POSITIVE TERMINAL WAS COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE CASE AND ACID WAS LEAKING...IT IS UNBELIEVABLE. THE AC DELCO BATTERY HAS A GREEN HYDROMETER INDICATION. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED WITH ANOTHER BRAND EXPENSES OF $ 80.99 WITHOUT CONSIDERATION OF TIMING, DRIVING AND GAS USED BY MY FRIEND AND MINE TO REPLACED THE AC DELCO BATTERY THAT HAD POSITIVE TERMINAL COMPLETELY SEPARATED . *JB
AFTER LESS THAN EIGHTEEN MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP AND HAVING NOT EVEN TAKEN A LENGTHY TRIP OUR LS HAS RACKED UP MORE HEAD ACHES THAN A LITTLE. JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO DEALERS WANTED TO CHARGE OVER $600. FOR A REPAIR OF THE "FAN CLUTCH" SOMETHING THAT NEVER HAPPENS TO VEHICLES TO OUR KNOWLEDGE. I HAVE OWNED GM PRODUCTS FOR MANY YEARS; THIS WILL CERTAINLY BE THE LAST ONE! NOW WE ARE FACED WITH OUR DEALER ADVISING US THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDS ALL ROTORS REPLACED, AS WELL AS PADS, PARKING BRAKE, ETC. HOW COULD THIS BE? MOST VEHICLES GET BRAKE PADS; THIS THING REQUIRES ALL THE COMPONENTS BE REPLACED DUE TO RUST! (SOUNDS LIKE CHEVY IS MANUFACTURING A FAULTY VEHICLE) WE ARE NOT GOING TO SETTLE FOR IT. IN FACT WE HAD RECOMMENDED THE PRODUCT TO FIENDS AND FAMILY WHO BOUGHT THREE OF THEM. WE ARE GOING TO TELL EVERYONE OF THE EXPERIENCE, AS WELL AS RECOMMEND THAT THEY GET RID OF THEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF SUCH UNPREDICTABLE PROBLEMS. MY RECOMMENDATION IS ALL OWNERS SUE TO MAKE CHEVROLET TAKE THE TRUCKS BACK! WE ALSO CONTACTED CHEVROLET ABOUT THE UNUSUAL RUSTING ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD, ESPECIALLY WHERE THE HINGE IS LOCATED - WE WERE PROMPTLY IGNORED. *NM
TRANSMISSION COOLANT PIPES: ON THE AFTERNOON OF NOVEMBER 12, I WAS DRIVING ON A LOCAL FREEWAY I BEGAN EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTIES MAINTAINING SPEED. WHILE THE ENGINE HAD FULL POWER, I HAD TO PULL OVER AS MY VEHICLE EFFECTIVELY LOST POWER TO THE WHEELS. AT THIS TIME, I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER WHERE I HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED. THE VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN REGULARLY SERVICES AT GM DEALERS. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, MY SUSPICION OF A TRANSMISSION FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED. SEVERAL DAYS LATER, THE OLD TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. AT THAT TIME, THE TRANSMISSION COOLANT PIPE WAS DISCOVERED TO HAVE BEEN RUSTED THROUGH AND THIS WAS IDENTIFIED AS THE LIKELY CAUSE OF MY TRANSMISSION FAILING. I ULTIMATELY HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT COOLANT PIPE REPLACED AT THE COST OF SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS. I BELIEVE A STRONG CASE EXISTS FOR CALLING ATTENTION TO A NEED TO INSPECT AND PERHAPS REPLACE CRITICAL UNDERBODY FLUID PIPES ON SIMILAR VEHICLES DUE TO THE LIKELIHOOD OF RUST-THROUGH AND OTHER FAILURES THAT COULD CAUSE SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLES. *JB
TIE RODS, MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION MODULE PROBLEMS, AIRBAG, TAILLIGHTS, STOP, TURN SIGNAL REAR PROBLEM, ELECTRICAL/ WIRING,RADIO, HVAC, PRESSURE CONTROL,2 BATTERIES, 2 FAN CLUTCHES, AMONG OTHER PROBLEMS. *JB
BEFORE I GOT THE RECALL NOTICE ON MY TRAILBLAZER THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR HAPPENED TO ME. MY 3 YEAR OLD GRANDSON FELL OUT THE BACK DOOR WHEN IT UNLATCHED. NO MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE PANEL. MY OTHER GRANDSON YELLED TO LET ME KNOW THAT HE HAD FALLEN OUT. FURTHER ACTION MAY BE TAKEN IN THIS MATTER. *NM
MY 2002 TRAILBLAZER WITH 70,000 (JUST OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY) HAS A BAD FAN CLUTCH. THE DEALER IS TRYING TO CHARGE ME $500 FOR A PART THAT COSTS $230 AT MULTIPLE LOCAL PARTS STORES. MY COMPLAINT, HOWEVER, STEMS FROM THE FACT THAT A 5 MINUTE INTERNET SEARCH YIELDED 8 OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM. ALL 8 OF THE CARS HAS LESS THAN 80,000 MILES. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM THAT GM NEEDS TO REACT TO AND ISSUE AN OPTIONAL RECALL. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED VEHICLE WENT OFF THE ROAD AND HIT TREES AT 50-55 MPH. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE FRONT END COLLAPSED, THE ENGINE WAS IN THE FIREWALL, AND THE BODY WAS PUSHED OFF OF THE FRAME. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR BRUISES AND ABRASIONS. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING. *AK
DRIVING TO WORK, ENGINE SEEMED TO REV UP AND DIDN'T SHIFT CORRECTLY. AFTER GOING TO WORK (INTERSTATE DRIVE @20 MI). MY RETURN HOME, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WENT TO HAVE FLUID CHANGED THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TOLD, "TRANNY'S FRIED", HAD TO TAKE IT TO TRANSMISSION SHOP FOR REBUILD, STILL WAITING TO PICK UP. *NM
ENGINE FAN NOISY... RUNS TOO FAST/HIGH. A COUPLE MECHANICS HAVE SAID FAN CLUTCH IS THE PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SEEM TO SHIFT SMOOTHLY... AND SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO THIS ENGINE FAN SPEED. *NM
POWER WINDOW MOTOR FAILURE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE MOTOR HAS GONE OUT ON REAR WINDOW. THE 1ST TIME CAR UNDER WAR. NOW ITS NOT. THERE MUST BE A PROBLEM WITH THE MOTORS. *JB
I WAS TRAVELING NORTHBOUND APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON A DRY PAVED TWO LANE ROAD IN MY 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LS EQUIPPED WITH SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS. I WAS HIT (T-BONED) BY A MINI VAN TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30-35 MPH TRAVELING THE WRONG WAY ON A ONE WAY STREET WITH A BLIND INTERSECTION. IMPACT WAS DIRECTLY IN MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR, PUSHING THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT INWARD AGAINST THE CENTER CONSOLE, ROLLING UP THE FLOORBOARD, BREAKING THE HINGES OF THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR, ULTIMATELY FLIPPING MY VEHICLE OVER ONTO THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PUSHED APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET INTO THE INTERSECTION, CAUSING MY DRIVERS SIDE MIRROR TO ROLL INTO THE DRIVERS SIDE, AND SHATTERING THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW. OTHER UNDERCARRIAGE DAMAGE WAS ALSO CAUSED DO TO THE IMPACT. FAILURE: MY 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER IS EQUIPPED WITH SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS. PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY, DESPITE MAJOR DAMAGE AS RESULT FROM DIRECT IMPACT TO PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR. DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY DESPITE IMPACT FROM ROLLOVER ONTO DRIVERS SIDE, RESULTING IN MODERATE DAMAGE. CONSEQUENCES: IF A PASSENGER WOULD HAVE BEEN SEATED ON PASSENGER SIDE SERIOUS INJURIES IF NOT FATAL INJURIES WOULD HAVE RESULTED DUE TO AMOUNT OF INTRUSION OF PASSENGER FRONT DOOR INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WITH NO SRS PROTECTION. DRIVER OF VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES FROM BEING "TOSSED" AGAINST DRIVERS SIDE INTERIOR FRONT DOOR AREA WITH SHATTERED GLASS. AS THE OWNER OF VEHICLE, I CONTACTED CHEVROLET DIRECTLY AND FILED A REPORT, I WAS ADVISED THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED WITHIN 2 BUSINESS DAYS TO GATHER FURTHER INFORMATION TO CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION. IT IS OFFICIALLY PAST 2 BUSINESS DAYS AND I HAVE HEARD NOTHING FROM CHEVROLET. VEHICLE TOTAL LOSS DUE TO DAMAGE VIA INSURANCE. *JB
02 OCTOBER 2005 MY WIFE AND I WERE RETURNING AFTER SHOPPING IN THE EVENING IS WHEN THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPEN. TRAVELING AT 45 MPH THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. WE COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. WE CONTINUE OUR TRAVEL HOME WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. 03 OCTOBER 2005 I CONTACT THE DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AT, NOTIFYING THEM OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS DROPPED OFF THAT EVENING WITH NO INCIDENT. THEY HELD THE VEHICLE FOR 10 DAYS AND COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. 21 OCTOBER 2005 ON A TRIP TO THE MALL WITH THE FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE AGAIN THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN. AGAIN, WE COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE WERE TRAVELING AT 30 MPH. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE RESTARTS. WE ALSO NOTICE THAT THE DIALS ON THE DASHBOARD WOULD GO HAYWIRE DURING RESTART. NO FURTHER INCIDENTS. 24 OCTOBER 2005 I NOTIFY GENERAL MOTORS OF OUR SITUATION. GENERAL MOTOR WILL DOCUMENT THE COMPLAINT AND GAVE ME A SERVICE REQUEST NUMBER. GENERAL MOTORS ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. *JB
2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER HAS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER ON HIGHWAY. SLOWS FROM 65 TO 30 WITH NO RESPONSE TO THROTTLE. NO CHECK ENG LIGHT ON. ALL GAUGES CORRECT. WAIT FOR 10 MIN ON ROADSIDE WITH VEHICLE RUNNING TRY IT AGAIN AND IT'S OK - BACK UP TO 65 WITH NO PROBLEM. HAPPENS MAYBE EVERY 2-3 WEEKS INTERMITTANTLY. COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS ON NYS THUWAY!. HAD DEALER AND 2 OTHER MECHS CHECK IT AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. FLUID WAS GOOD AND LEVEL CORRECT. NO CODES STORED. HAD FLUSH AND NEW FILTER - SAME THING. *NM
CHEVY TRAILBLAZER 2002 LTZ - VIN [XXX] THERE IS A CRACK IN THE CONNECTION BETWEEN MY GAS TANK AND THE FILLER PIPE. CHEVY TOLD ME THAT CURRENTLY HAVE A "SPECIAL POLICY" #05012 WHICH COVERS THIS FLAW, HOWEVER MY CAR DOES NOT FALL UNDER THAT EVEN THOUGH THE SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME. AFTER SMELLING GAS FUMES AND HAVING THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LAMP ILLUMINATED, I TOOK MY 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EXT TO MY MECHANIC FOR SERVICE. THE ATTACHMENT FROM THE FUEL FILLER LINE AND THE GAS TANK WAS LOOSE. HE RELAYED THAT CHEVY WAS HAVING A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS. AFTER PURSUING THIS WITH GM, I FOUND A SPECIAL POLICY # 05012. GM WILL FIX THE PROBLEM ON VEHICLES WITH UP TO 70,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE HAS 72,000 MILES. GM REFUSES TO REPAIR THIS DEFECT. *JB
I TOOK MY 2002 CHEV. TRAILBLAZER INTO SIR WALTER CHEV. TO HAVE RECALL #NHTSA04V046000 REPAIRED BECAUSE MY WIPERS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. AFTER ARRIVING AT THE DEALER I SPOKE WITH WOODY THE SERVICE WRITER. I EXPLAINED MY COMPLAINT WITH THE WIPERS AND HE TOLD ME THAT THERE WOULD BE A CHARGE OF $79.00 PER HOUR TO CHECK IT OUT. I EXPLAINED THAT THIS SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL. HE EXPLAINED THAT THERE WOULD STILL BE THE CHARGE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I EXPLAINED THAT THEY HAD ALREADY HAD THE VEHICLE IN FOR THIS RECALL. HE EXPLAINED THAT HE COULD NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE "IT IS CLOSED OUT" HE SAID HE WOULD TRY TO TALK TO THE SERVICES TO SEE IF THEY WOULD CHECK IT WITH OUT CHARGING THE $79.00. THEY TOOK THE CAR BACK AND CHECKED IT AND FOUND THAT THE WIPER MODULE WAS BAD AND THAT THEY COULD FIX IT AND THE COST TO ME WOULD BE THE $100.00 DEDUCTIBLE ON MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. I TOLD HIM THAT THIS REPAIR IS COVERED UNDER RECALL. I CALLED GM COSTUMER SERVICE AND TALKED TO ? MELLISA ELMS @ 1 866 932 4368 EXT. 39220 AFTER GETTING MY VIN AND LOOKING UP THE RECALL SHE AGREED THAT THE REPAIR WAS INFACT UNDER THE RECALL. AFTER SPEAKING WITH MRS. ELMS SHE CALLED AND SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AND EXPLAINED THAT THE REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND TO GO AHEAD AND FIX IT. SHE THEN CALLED ME BACK AND TOLD ME THAT THEY PROBABLY WOULD NOT FIX MY CAR AND THAT I SHOULD PROBABLY CARRY IT TO ANOTHER DEALER. I CALLED SIR WALTER TO SEE IF I COULD SPEEK WITH SOMEONE TO GET THIS RESOLVED. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR RICKY EDWARDS "SERVICE MANAGER" FOR SIR WALTER CALLED ME BACK AND TOLD ME THAT MY WIPER MOTOR IS THE PROBLEM NOT THE MODULE AS I WAS TOLD EULER AND IF I WANTED IT FIXED IT WOULD COST ME THE DEDUCTIBLE OF $100.00. *NM

ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2005, OUR CLIENT WAS DRIVING HER 2002 CHEVROLET TRAIL BLAZER IN SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS. SOON AFTER TURNING A CORNER FROM NINTH STREET WEST ONTO COOK STREET AT APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN MILES PER HOUR, ALL AIRBAGS IN THE ENTIRE VEHICLE DISCHARGED AT ONE TIME. OUR CLIENT WAS PUMMELED ABOUT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN STRUCK OR IN AN ACCIDENT AT SAID TIME. OUR CLIENT HAD MERELY JUST COMPLETED TURNING THE CORNER. A SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING HAD TURNED ON IN THE VEHICLE THE PREVIOUS DAY, AND SHE HAD ALREADY PLANNED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TAKEN IN AT THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS. GENERAL MOTORS WAS CONTACTED BUT DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS JUST PAST THE WARRANTY DATE. EVENTUALLY, THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP REPLACED ALL OF THE AIR BAGS BUT STILL WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM WHAT WAS THE ACTUAL CAUSE OF SAME. *NM
DT: THE CONSUMER OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE FRONT HEADLIGHT UNIT WOULD GO ON AND OFF. A LOCAL REPAIR STATION SAID THAT THE WIRING TO THE HEADLIGHT UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT UNIT. THE CONSUMER DID NOT CALL THE LOCAL SERVICE DEALER BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, BUT DID REPORT THIS PROBLEM TO THE MANUFACTURER. 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER LEFT BRAKE LIGHT OUT AFTER TWO REPAIRS. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE TYPE OTHER TRAILBLAZERS HAVE LEFT LIGHT OUT AS WELL. DEALER HAS REPAIRED TWICE, NOW WARRANTY IS EXPIRED AND POLICE HAVE PULLED ME OVER INFORMING ME THAT I NEED TO GET IT FIXED,AGAIN! I BOUGHT NEW LIGHTS STILL LEFT WON'T WORK. *NM
THE SPARE TIRE HOIST CABLE SYSTEM TANGLED OR JAMMED AND WOULD NOT ALLOW THE SPARE TO LOWER FURTHER OR RAISE. I HAD TO USE ROPE TO TIE THE SPARE TIRE TO THE FRAME TO MAKE SURE IT WOULD NOT FALL DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING WHICH CLEARLY COULD HAVE THROWN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE UPWARD. TOOK CAR TO A CHEVY REPAIR SHOP AND THEY STATED THAT THE PART THAT CAME LOOSE SHOULD NOT HAVE DO SO WITH THE AGE AND USE OF THE CAR. TRANSMISSION CASE WAS PIERCED AND NEEDED REPLACED, AXLE BENT AND ADJACENT PARTS NEEDED REPLACED. OLD PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. COMPLETE WRITE UP ON DAMAGE AVAILABLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED SINCE I WAS IN SOMEONE'S FRONT YARD IT WAS CONSIDERED AN ACCIDENT.*JB
I NOTICED OIL ON MY DRIVEWAY. I TOOK MY TRAILBLAZER TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE FRONT AXLE SHAFT WAS LEAKING FLUID AND THAT IT WAS GOING TO COST $800 TO REPLACE A COUPLE OF SEALS IN THE PINION AND THE GEAR BOX. *JB
DT: CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2005. UPON IMPACT, NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. BACK IN SEPTEMBER OF 2002 CONSUMER'S WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH THIS SAME VEHICLE, AND THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED AT THAT TIME EITHER. WHILE DRIVING HOME ON ABOUT THE EVENING OF SEPTEMBER 10, 2005 MY 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WITH 47,427 MILES SUDDENLY GROANED LOUDLY AND RAPIDLY DECELERATED APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE FROM MY HOUSE. I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME AT A SPEED OF ABOUT FIVE MPH. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME I CONTACTED MY MECHANIC WHO SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. MY MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND TOLD ME IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION WHICH HE WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR. HE SUGGESTED I CONTACT MY DEALER AS HE FELT THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE HIGH ENOUGH MILEAGE TO WARRANT TRANMISSION FAILURE. I CONTACTED TILLERY CHEVROLET IN MORIARTY, NM WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND SPOKE WITH MR. GLEN TILLERY. HE ASKED IF I HAD PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PACKAGE. UPON HEARING I DID NOT PURCHASE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PACKAGE MR. TILLERY GAVE ME THE APPROXIMATE PRICE FOR HIS DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I FELT HIS PRICE WAS HIGH AND THE DEALERSHIP IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 50 MILES FROM MY HOUSE WHICH WAS TOO FAR TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE IN ITS CONDITION. I RECEIVED RECOMMENDATIONS FROM OTHER PEOPLE AND TOOK MY TRAILBLAZER TO BUDGET TRANSMISSION IN ALBUQUERQUE, NM. BUDGET LOOKED AT THE TRANSMISSION AND STATED IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHICH I AUTHORIZED. WHEN I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME MY TRANSMISSION FAILURE WAS DUE TO A FAULTY SUNSHELL. THE PRICE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS $1,813.68 3. THE REPAIRS INCLUDED A REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTER. THE ORIGINAL PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE.
LOUD ROARING NOISE - SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT APPEARED - TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP - FAN CLUTCH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ON MY 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. *NM
THIS COMPLAINT IS FOR A 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WITH 44000 MILES. MY WIFE PULLED OUT TO PASS A SLOW MOVING CAR AND WHEN SHE PULLED ALONG SIDE THE CAR SHE WAS PASSING, THE MOTOR JUST REVED UP AND MADE A SCREEMING LOUD SORT OF NOISE. THERE WAS A CAR COMING AHEAD OF HER AND THE LINE OF CARS BEHIND HER HAD TAKEN UP THE EMPTY SPOT SHE HAD JUST PULLED OUT TO PASS FROM, NOT TO MENTION SHE WAS SCARED BY THE LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE CAR. SHE ALMOST HIT THE ON-COMING CAR HEAD ON. MY WIFE AND TWO CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR THAT ALMOST COST THEM THEIR LIVES. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM AND TALKING TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT IS REPAIRING THE PROBLEM, IT SEEMS MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. MY DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE MANAGER SAID THIS SHOUD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN BECAUSE THE NEW PARTS ARE HARDENED STEEL, AND THE GEAR THAT WAS PUT IN AT THE FACTORY WAS NOT. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM AND SOMEONE IS NOT GOING TO BE AS LUCKY AS MY FAMILY ENDED UP BEING. I ASSUME THAT THE COMPANY IS NOT RECALLING THIS TRANSMISSION PART BECAUSE OF THE COST OF REPLACEING THIS DEFECTIVE PART. I FEEL THAT THE SAFTEY OF MY FAMILY AND ANY OTHER FAMILY IS WELL WORTH THE COST OF REPLACING THIS DEFECTIVE PART.
METAL PLATE WITH ALL OF THE CONNECTIONS TO THE PLASTIC GAS TANK ROTTED AWAY, CAUSING FUEL VAPORS TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. WE ONLY HAVE 38,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. TANK DESIGN WILL HOLD MUD AND WATER IN A DEPRESSION ON THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK, PROMOTING RUST HOLES, THAT NOT ONLY ALLOWED VAPORS TO ESCAPE ALSO LEAKED GAS WHEN THE TANK WAS FILLED. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT SMELLED GAS AND IT GOT REALLY STRONG ON 8-11-05. HE TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED ON 8-25-05. HE WAS TREATED VERY BADLY BY DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP REMOVED THE GAS TANK AND NOTICED THAT THE TWO LINES ON TOP OF THE TANK WERE LEAKING. THEY TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT HE SHOULD WASH THE ROAD SALT OFF OF THE TANK. THEY STATED THAT WAS THE REASON FOR THE LEAKING. THE CONSUMER FELT THIS PROBLEM WAS SIMILAR TO RECALL 02V121000. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED HIM TO SIGN A STATEMENT, SAYING THE RUST AND CORROSION WAS HIS FAULT, HOWEVER HE REFUSED TO DO SO. THEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT GET THE PART UNTIL LATE FRIDAY, HE FELT LIKE THE DEALERSHIP WAS PUNISHING HIM BECAUSE HE REFUSED TO SIGN THEIR PAPERS. THEY WOULD NOT OFFER HIM A RENTAL CAR. HE CALLED GM AND THEY ADVISED HIM TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THEM AGAINST THE DEALERSHIP AFTER HE GOT CAR BACK. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE CAR ONE WEEK NOW AND THE REPAIRS HAVE NOT BEEN COMPLETED . *AK

THEIR INVESTIGATION FOUND IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION , ONLY 84,500 MILES). AT THIS POINT, I WILL HAVE TO AUTHORIZE THEM TO MAKE THE REPAIRS , APPROXIMATELY $2500. AFTER READING SEVERAL MESSAGE BOARDS, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT GM ADDRESSED ON THE 2003 MODEL. APPARENTLY, PART OF THE TRANSMISSION ON THE 2002 COULD NOT STAND THE HEAT. GM NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND ISSUE A RECALL, AND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT). *AK
THERMOSTATIC-CONTROLLED CLUTCH ON RADIATOR COOLING FAN WAS NOT DISENGAGING AND "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" WARNING LAMP WAS LIGHTED. "ON-STAR" SERVICE PROBE CONFIRMED PROBLEM IN POWER TRAIN/COOLING SYSTEM. DEALER CONFIRMED DEFECTIVE COOLING FAN CLUTCH AND REPLACED FAN CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. THIS IS A SUV THAT RARELY SEES TRAVEL OFF OF PAVED ROADS. ALL SERVICE PERFORMED AT DEALERSHIP. COOLING FAN CLUTCH SHOULD NOT BE FAILING AT 57,520 MILES. "GOODWILL WARRANTY" COVERED MOST OF REPAIR EXPENSE. *JB

I OWN A 2002 TRAILBLAZER AND BOUGHT IT NEW IN MAY 2002 AND PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY 5 YEARS OR 50,000 MILES. THE OTHER MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK MY CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT TO THE NEXT GEAR AUTOMATICALLY. THIS HAPPENED WITH NO WARNING. IT DID THIS THE WHOLE WAY TO WORK. I WAS CONCERNED AT THAT POINT THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN I CAME OUT OF WORK TO LEAVE FOR THE DAY I NEEDED TO GET INTO REVERSE TO GET OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE AND MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE. AT THAT POINT I KNEW THERE WAS A REAL PROBLEM. I CHECKED MY TRANSMISSION FLUID AND IT APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN A LITTLE LOW SO I ADDED SOME FLUID AND THAT DID NOT MAKE DIFFERENCE. AT THIS TIME THE PERSON WHO WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF ME LEFT SO I WAS ABLE TO GET INTO DRIVE AND I DROVE CAREFULLY HOME. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER AND ASKED IF MY VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY THEY CHECKED AND IT WAS NOT. I HAVE 58,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND MY WARRANTY WAS FOR 5 YEARS OR 50,000 MILES. SO AT THIS POINT I HAD NO OTHER CHOICE THEN TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER OR ANOTHER SHOP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. I CHOSE TO TAKE IT TO AAMCO TRANSMISSIONS SINCE MY FAMILY HAS USED THEM PREVIOUSLY FOR OTHER TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THE MECHANIC THERE TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD DO DIAGNOSTIC TESTS, A TEST DRIVE AND THEN CHECK TO MAKE SURE ALL CONNECTIONS ARE GOOD. WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS HE CALLED ME TO LET ME KNOW THAT MY PROBLEM WITH MY TRANSMISSION WAS DEFINITELY INTERNAL AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REBUILD IT. HE TOLD ME THAT I HAD NO 1 2 3 SHIFT AND NO REVERSE. ONCE THEY HAD TAKEN IT APART HE CALLED ME TO GIVE ME THE DAMAGE. THE COST OF THE REBUILD WITH SEVERAL PARTS NEEDING REPLACED THIS IS COSTING ME $2500. THESE ARE THE PARTS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, TORQUE CONVERTER, DRIVE SHAFT, TRANSFER CASE FLUID, STEEL PLATES, DRIVE SHELL, UPDATE PUMPS, REACTOR SHAFT, THRUST WASHER AND EPC SOLENOID. *JB
BRAKES STARTED PULSATING WHEN APPLIED. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A BRAKE INSPECTION. HIS EXPLANATION INDICATED A DESIGN FLAW WHICH CAUSES CORROSION OF THE ROTORS THAT IN TURN EATS THE PADS. EVEN WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN AT 40000 MILES THEY STILL REFUSED TO TREAT IT AS WARRANTY AND QUOTED $600 FOR THE REARS ALONE. I HAD THE FRONT ROTOR TURNED AND WILL HAVE THE REARS DONE BY MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. NO WONDER SALES ARE DOWN - NOBODY TRUST THE MANUFACTURERS ANYMORE MORE TO DO THE RIGHT THING, THEY ONLY TRUST THEM TO NOT LOSE MONEY ON A FAILURE. WHO LETS THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS KIND OF CONDUCT - WE DO. AS SOON AS MY GAS GUZZLER IS SAFE TO DRIVE AGAIN OUT COMES THE FOR SALE SIGN. *JB

AND THIS MORNING IT IS A $200 PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH. TOO MANY THINGS TO EVEN REMEMBER OR NAME, BUT CHEVY HAS A PRETTY THICK FILE ON ME AND MY VEHICLE. *NM
WE OWN A 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER 4WD WITH 57,000 MILES. ON THE DATE OF THE INCIDENT, A CLUNK WAS HEARD FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AND THERE WAS NO REVERSE GEAR. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. AFTER INSPECTION AND ROAD TEST, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE "SUN SHELL SPLEEN" HAD STRIPPED AND THE SUN GEAR AND SUN SHELL DRUM HAD TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH A RECONDITIONING OF THE TRANSMISSION. THIS REPAIR CAME TO THE TUNE OF 2022 DOLLARS. OUR SERVICE MANAGER WAS ABLE TO HAVE THE FACTORY COVE HALF OF THE REPAIR AS A "GOODWILL GESTURE." I AM ALSO AN EMPLOYEE AT THE DEALER AND HAD ACCESS TO REPAIR INFORMATION PROVIDED BY CHEVROLET. APPARENTLY, THE MATERIAL THE ORIGINAL SUN SHELL WAS MADE OF WAS NOT ABLE TO WITHSTAND PROLONGED HIGH TEMPERATURES THAT ARE FOUND IN THE TRANS. FOR THE 2003 MODEL YEAR AND LATER, GENERAL MOTORS MADE THE SUN SHELL OUT OF A "MORE HEAT RESISTANT MATERIAL" WHICH WILL "HOPEFULLY" PREVENT THE PROBLEM FROM RECURRING. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS EQUIVALENT TO GENERAL MOTORS ADMITTING THAT THE ORIGINAL TRANS IN OUR VEHICLE WAS OF SUBSTANDARD QUALITY RIGHT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THIS PROBLEM HAS ERODED AWAY ANY CONFIDENCE WE HAVE IN GM AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF THE PROBLEM RECURRING IN A MUCH MORE DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD LEAD TO A LOSS OF CONTROL AND POSSIBLE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. *JB
