CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER 2002, ROTORS WERE BADLY CORRODED AND COMING APART. *BF THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE MADE A SQUEALING NOISE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. *JB
CONSUMER EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEMS AS STATED IN RECALL 01V134000 CONCERNING TRANSFER CASE. DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT PERFORM REPAIRS FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED.*AK
TRANSMISSION LEAKED FLUID FROM THE SEAL, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO OVER 25 MPH. CONSUMER DROVE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THEY WOULD ONLY PAY HALF FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION.*AK
I JUST HAD AN ALIGNMENT DONE ON OUR 2002 TRAILBLAZER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RIGHT FRONT TIE ROD IS GOING TO NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC SHOWED ME HOW MUCH PLAY WAS IN THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE AND WHEEL. IT WAS ATLEAST ONE HALF INCH. THERE ARE NO GREASE FITTINGS ON THE 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER BECAUSE THEY ARE SEALED. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN IT WOULD OF NOT HAD ENOUGH GREASE PUT IN AT THE FACTORY. HE ALSO SAID THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE WHEEL CAN BREAK AT THE TIE ROD AND THE FRONT WHEEL WILL NOT BE CONTROLLABLE.*AK
I HAVE A 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER ON WHICH I HAS REPLACED THE RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT 6 TIMES, AND LEFT BRAKE LIGHT 3 TIMES IN 44,000 MILES. I HAVE A RELATIVE WHO ALSO OWNS THE SAME MAKE/MODEL AND IS ABOUT EVEN WITH THAT COUNT. CHEVY HAS OFFERED TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY AND REPLACE THESE LIGHTS AND SOCKETS FOR FREE BUT THIS DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AS I HAVE HAD 3 LIGHT FAILURES SINCE MY SOCKET WAS LAST REPLACED AS HAS MY RELATIVE. IT IS APPARENT THAT CHEVY IS NOT WILLING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, ONLY PATCH IT UP. WITH TAIL LIGHTS, YOU ONLY DISCOVER IT IS OUT IF A COP HANDS YOU A TICKET, OR SOMEONE ELSE IS KIND ENOUGH TO TELL YOU WHEN YOU STOP. GIVEN THE FREQUENCY WITH WHICH THIS OCCURS, IT IS VERY LIKELY THAT YOU WOULD END UP DRIVING AROUND WITH NO BRAKE LIGHTS AT ALL AND NOT REALIZE IT.
WHEN TEH REAR SEAT ARE FOLDED DOWN THERE IS NOT ENOUGHT ROOM FOR THE DRIVER SEAT WHEN IT IS IN EASY OUT MODE. I FOLDED THE REAR SEATS DOWN, AND WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE THE FRONT SEAT MOVED BACK AS NORMAL AND HIT THE REAR SEAT. THIS CAUSED THE MOTOR OR GEAR TO BREAK OR JAM, CAUSING THE POWER SEAT TO NOT WORK. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE AS OF YET.*AK
POWER STEERING PUMP SHALT BROKE CAUSING FAILURE OF POWER STEERING. *AK
2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER -- I HAVE EXPERIENCE A REOCCURRING PROBLEM (ABOUT 6 TIMES OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS) WHERE THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS GO OFF DURING OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. NOTHING I HAVE FOUND CAN FORCE THEM TO COME BACK ON; HOWEVER, USUALLY AFTER 5 OR 10 MINUTES THEY SEEM TO RETURN TO THE NORMAL ON CONDITION BY THEMSELVES. THE HIGH BEAMS WORK OK, TAIL LIGHTS, DASH LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, ETC. ARE NOT EFFECTED WHILE THE LOW BEAMS ARE IN THIS CONDITION. ADDITONALLY ONE DAY I NOTICED THE DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS IN THIS SAME STATE. I HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE DEALER, BILL HEARD CHEVROLET (SANFORD, FL), AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE CONDITION. I CONTACTED GM/CHEVROLET, AND THEY AGREED THAT UNLESS THE CONDITION COULD BE REPRODUCED, THERE WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE OR MAKE ANY ATTEMPT TO REPLACE ANY PARTS TO ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RIGID STANCE TO TAKE, ESPECIALLY SINCE I NEVER KNOW WHEN THIS CAN HAPPEN AGAIN, AND IT IS OBVIOUSLY AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE FOR NOT ONLY MYSELF AND FAMILY, BUT OTHERS ON THE ROAD WITH ME AT THE TIME. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PROCEED AT THIS POINT, AND DON'T KNOW IF THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY ANY OTHER OWNER.*AK
WHILE DRIVING UNDER EVEN THROTTLE AT ABOUT 40 MPH, HEARD A VERY LOUD CLUNK AND THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY REVVED TO HIGH RPMS. THE GEAR THE TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN IN WAS CLEARLY GONE. AFTER EASING UP ON THE THROTTLE, THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO RE-ENGAGE. IT WAS POSSIBLE TO PROCEED, THOUGH THERE WERE NEW NOISES I'D NEVER HEARD BEFORE. (I'M VERY GLAD THIS DID NOT OCCUR AT 70MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.) LATER LEARNED THAT AT LEAST THE GEAR THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN WAS GONE (4TH) AND ALSO THAT REVERSE WAS GONE. IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO THE SHOP. PROBLEM WAS FIXED AS A WARRANTY REPAIR AND I GOT IT BACK IN TWO DAYS. REPAIR INVOICE INDICATES THAT THE PROBLEM WAS 'REACTION GEAR SET AND/OR REACTION SUN SHELL' AND THAT THIS WAS FOURND TO BE STRIPPED. WHILE IN THE SHOP IT WAS REPLACED. THAT IS ALL THE INFORMATION I RECEIVED ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BUT I FEAR A DESIGN DEFECT OF SOME SORT AND THAT THE PROBLEM WILL RECUR.*AK
I BROUGHT THIS CAR ON AUGUST 14, 2004. AT 2 MONTHS THE VEHICLE STOP WORKING. I CALL THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A BATTERY PROBLEM AND THE INSURANCE I HAD GOT WITH THEM DID NOT COVER IT. SO THEN I DECIDED TO PURCHASE A INSURANCE THAT WOULD COVER THAT. THEY CHARGED ME ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS. LATER THEY CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT I DID NOT QUALIFIED FOR THE INSURANCE. THEY DIDN'T RETURN ME THE ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS I HAD GAVE THEM. SINCE THE BEGINNING THE SALES PERSON LIED TO ME. HE TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE WAS 2003 BUT IT IS REALLY A 2002. THE TRANSMISSION TO MY VEHICLE DOES NOT WORK. I WANT TO CANCEL THE PURCHASE OF THIS CAR. *JB
2002 TRAILBLAZER ACTED LIKE TRANSMISSION GOING OUT, TOOK TO DEALER THEY UPGRADED COMPUTER. FRONT RIGHT LOW BEAM WIRED BURNED AND MELTED, TOOK TO DEALER THEY WANTED TO CHARGE 250.00 PLUS LABOR FOR LIGHT ASSEMBLY WHEN ALL IT NEEDED WAS A PIGGY PLUG, BOUGHT PLUG AT NAPA AND FIXED MYSELF. NEVER HAVE HAD TWO BACK LIGHTS WORKING AT SAME TIME... CANT TAKE TO DEALER TO GET THE RECALL WORK BECAUSE IT SEEMS THAT THESE VEHICLES ARE USING A "WEAK" OIL PUMP AND MY TRAILBLAZER HAS BEEN IN SHOP FOR LAST MONTH OR MORE WAITING TO BE FIXED. THE WEAK OIL PUMP CAUSED DAMAGE TO ROD BEARINGS, MAIN BEARINGS, AND CRANKSHAFT. GM SAYS OUT OF WARRANTY AND MY CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST SAID "I'M SORRY" ABOUT 10 TIMES BUT SHE WAS STILL CLOSING MY FOLDER AND MARKING DISSATISFIED. SHE CAN'T HELP ME BECAUSE I'M OUT OF WARRANTY. I HATE THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE FOUND QUITE A FEW RECALLS BUT CAN'T DO MOST BECAUSE ITS IN THE SHOP. I NEVER GOT ANY RECALL NOTICES.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT OR DAY THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD COME ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
THE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS INADVERTENTLY MOVED ONCE THEY HAD BEEN SET. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *JB
ENGINE SLIPPAGE, THEN STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE. WE TOOK IT TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC THAT INFORMED US OF A RECALL NOTICE BY GENERAL MOTORS ON THE CYLINDER SLEEVE AND THAT THE VIN OF OUR 2002 TRAILBLAZER FELL WITHIN THE PARAMETERS OF THE RECALL NOTICE. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO INFORMED US THAT THE TIE ROD WENT THROUGH THE ENGINE BLOCK. WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING A NEW ENGINE INSTALLED. GENERAL MOTORS WILL ONLY PAY FOR 30% OF THE REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE HAS BEEN WELL CARED FOR, HAS 60,000 MILES ON IT AND MECHANICS HAVE STATED THAT THE CYLINDER SLEEVE MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC INFORMED CONSUMER THAT PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. *AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT. THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN THE CONSUMER. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MAJOR INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GARAGE FOR INSPECTION. THIS INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED BY MR. NATHAN'S WIFE MILDRED CHATMAN.*AK *JB
VEHICLE TYPE: 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. BRAKE LIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, AND TURN SIGNALS AT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE FAIL WITHOUT WARNING. LIGHT BULBS BURN OUT IN HOURS OR DAYS, RATHER THAN WEEKS OR MONTHS. NO SIGNS OF MOISTURE IN THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLIES THAT WOULD SHORTEN BULB-LIFE. THE TOTAL LIGHT FAILURE HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES IN THE PAST 3 MONTHS. NO ACCIDENTS, BUT SEVERAL NEAR MISSES. HAVE SPENT MORE THAN $150 IN NEW BULBS FOR TAIL LIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS OVER THIS TIME FRAME. OLD BULBS DO NOT ALWAYS APPEAR TO HAVE BURNED OR BROKEN ELEMENTS, BUT HAVE REPLACED THEM ANYWAY FOR SAFETY SAKE. WINDSHIELD WIPERS DON'T WORK WHEN TURNED ON, OR COME ON WHEN SWITCH IS IN THE OFF POSITION. DASH LIGHTS ALL LIGHT UP FOR NO REASON. HEATER/AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER WON'T WORK, AND POWER WINDOWS WON'T WORK WHEN DASH LIGHTS ARE LIT. TOOK THIS PROBLEM TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING, BUT RESET THE COMPUTER JUST IN CASE IT WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALER. CALLED THEM BACK THE NEXT MORNING, THEY SAID THERE WASN'T ANYTHING ELSE THEY KNEW TO LOOK AT. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT ONCE EVERY OTHER WEEK AND IS INTERMITTENT. THIS PART OF THE PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR AT THE SAME TIME THE BRAKE AND TAIL LIGHTS FAIL. PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ON-GOING SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY 2004. *JB
THERE WAS A VEHICLE RECALL CAMPAIGN REGARDING THE WIPER MOTOR ON MY 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WATER WOULD WORK IT'S WAY INTO THE WIPER MOTOR ON CERTAIN MODELS AND SHORT THE MOTOR AND CIRCUIT BOARD OUT. GENERAL MOTOR'S FIX WAS TO INSPECT AND RESEAL THE MOTOR. NOT LONG AFTER GENERAL MOTOR'S SUPPOSED FIX, THE WIPERS ON MY TRAILBLAZER WOULD STOP IN MID WIPE AND THEN RESTART AGAIN A FEW SECONDS LATER, WHICH I REGARD AS A SERIOUS SAFETY RELATED ISSUE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE CIRCUIT BOARD HAD SHORTED OUT AND THE WIPER MOTOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT $332.67. THIS WAS THE SAME PROBLEM THE RECALL WAS SUPPOSED ADDRESS. IN MY OPINION, GENERAL MOTOR'S (FIX) WAS A STOPGAP MEASURE AND NOT A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM AND A ONGOING SAFETY RELATED ISSUE. NOT TO MENTION THE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS THAT CUSTOMERS HAVE HAD TO SHELL OUT FOR THIS REPAIR OVER THE YEARS. I FEEL THAT THE NHTSA SHOULD MAKE GENERAL MOTOR'S RECALL THIS VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN FOR A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. I ALSO FEEL THAT ANYONE WHO HAS PAID FOR THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THEIR OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES. *TR
THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES FAILED WHEN BRAKING, CAUSING A REAR END COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. VEHICLE WAS TOWED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.*AK
VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE ALL OF LATCH COMPONENTS, MANUFACTURER AGREED TO INSTALL NESCESSARY PARTS. PARTS WERE NOT INSTALLED BECAUSE IT WAS DEEMED IMPOSSIBLE BY SERVICE DEPT. DUE TO SEAT DESIGN. SEAT DESIGN DOES NOT ALLOW INSTALLATION OF A REAR FACING CAR SEAT IN ANY WAY. LATCH IS REQUIRED TO PUT CAR SEAT IN BECAUSE OF SEAT DESIGN BUT SEAT DESIGN MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO INSTALL LATCH SYSTEM.*AK
RE DEFECTIVE 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER 4X4, PROBLEM WITH 4 WHEEL DRIVE, A/C, BATTERIES, TAILLIGHTS AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. *BF WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THE VEHICLE'S 4-WHEEL DRIVE WENT INTO FOUR WHEEL HIGH OR LOW INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY LOSES IT'S CHARGE. THE TAILLIGHTS WENT OUT AND THE BLOWER IN THE AIR CONDITIONER HAD TO BE REPLACED. FUEL SPLASHED OUT OF THE FILLER WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS FILLING THE TANK. THE VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. *NM
FROM FIRST ATTEMPT TO USE THE SPARE TIRE LOWERING DEVICE IT HAS NOT WORKED. GOES DOWN ABOUT THREE INCHES AND STOPS. TIRE CANNOT BE REMOVED. THIS IS A PROBLEM WHEN STUCK ON THE HIGHWAY AND IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN. CHEVY HAS TOLD ME THAT NOTHING COVERS THIS. I AM REPORTING THIS SO THAT IF OTHER PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM IT WILL BE RECTIFIED. *TR

CONSUMER HEARD CLANKING NOISES COMING FROM THE FRONT/REAR SWAY BAR. DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. *AK
ELECTRICAL PROBLEM REAR VIEW MIRROR COMPASS NOT READING RIGHT AND OUTSIDE TEMP. NOT READING CORRECT ON A HOT 80 DEGREE DAY. READS -33 AND NOW MY A/C WONT WORK BECAUSE IT SAYING THAT'S ITS TOO COLD FOR THE A/C TO BE ON. *JB
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE FROM THE OUTSIDE (SLOW) LANE ON INTERSTATE 35 A SPEEDING CAR ATTEMPTED TO PASS ME. I SWERVED BACK INTO MY LANE, NOTE; THIS WAS NOT A SEVERE STEERING MANEUVER. THE 2002 TRAILBLAZER IMMEDIATELY ROCKED AND WENT INTO A ROLL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE CARRIER. 1. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, FRONT NOR SIDE. 2. THE LOCKED DRIVERS SIDE DOOR OPENED UP ON IMPACT. 3. THE SUV ROLL OCCURRED WITH OUT SEVERE OVER STEERING. *JB

I OWN A 2002 TRAIL BLAZER EXT. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND I HAVE HAD MANY MANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. I FINALLY HAVE HAD IT AND DECIDED TO SEE IF THE INTERNET REPORTED ANY SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND TO MY AMAZEMENT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS, BUT HERE IS MY STORY. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON BOTH SIDES REPLACED, MOLDING AROUND THE LICENSE PLATE FRAME REPAIRED, OXYGEN SENSOR REPLACED, SWAY BARS REPLACED, WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTORS REPLACED, LEFT SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW MOTOR BROKE TWICE, GAS TANK REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS LEAKING GAS AND NOW IT IS BACK IN THE SHOP ONCE AGAIN BECAUSE THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD THE ONSTAR SYSTEM DO AN ENGINE ANALYSIS AND THEY SAID SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY POWER TRAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CALL TO TELL ME THE GAS TANK IS LEAKING GAS AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I TOLD THEM I JUST HAD IT DONE IN OCTOBER 2003. THEY TOLD ME I COULD NOT DRIVE MY VEHICLE. I SEE THERE WAS A RECALL DONE ON SOME 2002 TRAILBLAZERS DUE TO A PROBLEM LIKE THIS, BUT THEY SAY MY VEHICLE IS NOT ONE OF THEM. WHY? I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE GAS TANK. THIS IS THE SECOND ONE. I AM LUCKY I TOOK IT IN OR SOMETHING MAY HAVE HAPPENED IF IT IS THIS DANGEROUS. I WOULD APPRECIATE A RESPONSE BACK. THANK YOU, KATHY YATES. *AK
THERE IS A VERY STRONG ODOR OF FUEL FROM THE EXHAUST. *MR AFTER GM CAMPAIGN 03012 AND 03012, DENLEY CODE 07222 WAS PERFORMED, THAT WAS WHEN THE ODOR WAS PRESENT. *SC *JB
2002 TRAILBLAZER. ENGINE STALLS WHILE AT LOW ENGINE RPM. WITH IT IN PARK CAN HIT THE GAS AND RPMS WILL GO DOWN BELOW 500 THEN RECOVER. HAS ACTUALLY DIED ONCE. ALMOST DIED WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT. ALMOST DIED WHEN COMING TO A QUICK STOP AT LIGHT. AT FIRST THOUGHT IT ONLY OCCURED WITH THE AC ON BUT HAVE DECLARED IT TO DO SAME WITH THE AC OFF BUT NOT AS BAD. NOTICED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF SAME ISSUE HERE AND ON EDMUNDS.COM. OURS HASN'T STALLED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BUT I FEAR IT WON'T BE LONG BEFORE IT DOES AND MY WIFE IS THE PRIMARY DRIVER AND IS NOW PREGNANT WITH OUR SECOND CHILD. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO DEALER AT LEAST THREE TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE. GM NEEDS TO PUT US (ALL TRAILBLAZER OWNERS) IN A SAFE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSE PROBLEM NATIONALLY BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *AK
TWO WEEKS AGO THE CLUTCH FAN ON MY 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER ENGAGED BEFORE I LEFT THE HOUSE AND NEVER DISENGAGED ON A 15 MILE TRIP TO AND FROM WORK WITH VARYING SPEEDS (AS LOW AS RESIDENTIAL, AND AS HIGH AS 70 MPH). THIS IS HIGHLY UNUSUAL FOR IT TO 'STICK' IN THE ENGAGED POSITION. USUALLY IT ENGAGES ON A COLD START AND IS OFF WITHIN A MINUTE OR TWO. I WENT SO FAR AS TO TURN OFF THE A/C FIGURING THIS COULD TRIGGER THE COMMAND TO ENGAGE THE COOLING FAN. I CALLED THE DEALER I USUALLY HAVE MY WORK DONE AT, AND THEY JUST SAID TO BRING IT BY. ON THE APPROXIMATE 25 MILE TRIP FROM MY WORKPLACE TO THE DEALER, AT SOME POINT THE FAN DECELERATED FROM THE 100% ENGAGEMENT I HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING FOR TWO DAYS, IT ILLUMINATED THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON (SES) AND THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED (IT WAS IN USE AT THE TIME, AND WAS DANGEROUS IN THAT IT SUDDENLY DECELERATED ON ITS OWN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS). THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT FUNCTIONAL AT ALL. UPON ARRIVAL AT THE DEALER, THE FAN HAD SEEMED TO RESUME NORMAL SPEEDS, I RELAYED WHAT HAD HAPPENED ON THE WAY HERE, AND THEY HOOKED UP THE TECH2 DEVICE, READ THE CODES, CLEARED THEM, TURNED THE LIGHT OFF, AND THEN WENT ON A TEST DRIVE. NO DEFECT WAS NOTED AND EVERYTHING WENT FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK. CURRENTLY, THE FAN ENGAGES ITSELF TO 100% AT NEARLY ALL TIMES EXCEPT AT HIGH RPMS OR AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS OCCURS WHETHER THE A/C IS ON, WHETHER IT'S A COLD START, OR A WARM START. I CAN DRIVE 20 MILES ON THE INTERSTATE, AND ON ROADS AT 40 MPH THE FAN WILL SLOWLY ENGAGE ITSELF. AT 40 MPH THERE SHOULD BE ENOUGH RAM AIR COOLING. IF I ACCELERATE AT A RAPID RATE, KEEPING THE RPMS HIGH, THE FAN SLOWLY DISENGAGES...BUT RENGAGES SHORTLY AFTER THE ACCELERATION IS ENDED (DOWNSHIFT, DECELERATION IN SPEED, ETC). THIS HAS BECOME TROUBLESOME AS IT IS SURELY CAUSING EXCESS WEAR AND TEAR ON THE ENGINE, IS WASTEFUL IN THAT IT CAUSES OUTRAGEOUS FUEL CONSUMPTION, AND IS DREADFULLY LOUD ON ACCELERATION. CURRENTLY, IT HAS NOT TURNED ON THE SES LIGHT.*AK
BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE, LEFT REAR (DRIVERS SIDE)BRAKE LIGHT BULB BURNS OUT ON A REGULAR BASIS. I HAVE NOTICED THIS SAME CONDITION ON MANY OTHER TRAILBLAZERS. MANY TRAILBLAZERS THAT I SEE ON THE ROAD, I NOTICE THEIR SAME BRAKE LIGHT OUT AND THE DRIVER IS UNAWARE! I NEED TO REPLACE THIS BULB EVERY FEW MONTHS.*AK
MY 2002 TRAIL BLAZER BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT ALL THE TIME. I CHANGED THE BULBS SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE BOARD THAT HOLDS THE LIGHT BULBS. THE BULBS FIT LOSE IN THE BOARD, AND IT DOES NOT MAKE A GREAT CONNECTION.
THERE WERE NO EVENTS THAT TOOK PLACE BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. THE FAILURE WAS A COUPLING ON THE HIGH PRESSURE TRANSMISSION LINE. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID SPRAYED ONTO EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND STARTED A MAJOR ENGINE FIRE.*AK NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE AT THIS TIME.
CONSUMER UNABLE TO SHIFT GEARS. AFTER TRYING TO SHIFT GEARS NUMEROUS TIMES VEHICLE STALLED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE SHIFTER CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
BOTH REAR BRAKE LAMPS NOT WORKING WHEN PEDAL IS PRESSED. BOTH BULBS AND ALL FUSES SEEM TO BE FINE. *JB
THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON MY 2002 TRAILBALZER HAVE EITHER BURNED OUT OR FAILED TO FUNCTION 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 YEARS. A SERIOUS ISSUE SINCE I WAS NOTIFIED BY OTHER DRIVERS WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. ONCE THE BULBS WERE REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THE OTHER TIMES AT LOCAL MECHANICS WHILE I WAS TRAVELING. ENOUGH OF AN ISSUE TO MAKE ME CONSIDER TRADING VEHICLES. *AK
THE CONSUMER WENT TO THE DEALER FOR A RECALL ON THE TAIL LIGHT AND ONCE THE CONSUMER LEFT THE DEALERSHIP, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE TAIL LIGHT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOW THE CONSUMER'S AND REFUSED TO REPAIR VEHICLE, PER THE SERVICE MANAGER. *LA *SC *JB

WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE VIBRATED IN THE FRONT. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A SERVICE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION, AND THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT TIE RODS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK THE DEFECTIVE TIE RODS CAUSED MISALIGNMENT, WHICH LEAD TO EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR. (THIS ALL HAD TO BE REPLACED IN THE FRONT ONLY) *SC
THE RIGHT PASSENGER LOW BEAM SOCKET BURNED/MELTED TWICE SINCE 5/2003 AND THREE BULBS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. REPORTED TO CHEVROLET 7/04. THIS IS A T.S.B. LISTED ON ALLDATA.COM, BUT CHEVROLET REFUSES TO USE T.S.B.'S LISTED ANYWHERE BUT THE GM SITE AND THE NHTSA SITE. *AK
PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE AND LOCK FAILED TO OPEN OR LOCK ON THEIR OWN. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE DOOR HANDLE AND LOCKS WERE A MANUFACTURING DESIGN FLAW, AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM BUT HAS NO SOLUTION. MECHANIC REPLACED DOOR HANDLE AND LOCKS, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
UPON STARTUP (COLD OR WARMED) THERE ARE HIGH RPM'S, THE IDLE IS HIGH, ENGINE RACES AND DOES NOT IDLE DOWN. WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE AND GIVING GAS THERE IS LOW ACCELERATION AND THE TRUCK WON'T GO OVER ABOUT 15 MILES PER HOUR. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 2-3 BLOCKS THE TRUCK SHIFTS AND THEN RUNS NORMAL. INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, DEALER STATES IF THERE IS NO PROBLEM WE CAN'T DIAGNOSE OR FIX IT. BLACK BOX RECORDER IS NEEDED TO INSTALL UNTIL PROBLEM IS REPRODUCED AND CAN BE RECORDED. *LA
WHILE DRIVING APPOX 50 MPH, GOT HUNG IN TRAFFIC. ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY ENGINE COOLANT HOT WARNING LAMP CAME ON. I PULLED OFF AND HAD TO CALL MY FATHER TO COME GET ME. HE ADDED A SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER TO THE SYSTEM. THE CAR DROVE FINE FOR THE NEXT 10 MILES. AFTER DRIVING AGAIN FOR ABOUT 30 MILES, IT BEGAN TO OVER HEAT AGAIN. PULLED OFF AND LET IT SET FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES, ONCE AGAIN ADDED A SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER. DROVE FINE FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. MY HUSBAND AND BROTHER FLUSHED THE COOLING SYSTEM AND ADDED DEX-COOL. DROVE FINE FOR A DAY OR SO WHEN IT BEGAN OVERHEATING AGAIN. PARKED THE CAR UNTIL THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND WHEN MY HUSBAND FLUSHED THE COOLING SYSTEM AGAIN. RAN FINE AGAIN FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT STARTED OVERHEATING AGAIN WHEN I NOTICED THAT IT OCCURED DURING "STOP & GO" TRAFFIC, BUT WHEN MOVING, THE CAR WOULD COOL BACK DOWN. MY HUSBAND THEN REPLACED THE CLUTCH FAN. WORKED FINE FOR ONE DAY WHEN IT BAGAN OVERHEATING AGAIN. TOOK THE CAR LAST WEEK TO A DEALER WHERE THEY CHECKED THE CODE AND IT WAS WRONG, SO THEY ENTERED THE CORRECT CODE. WORKED FINE FOR ONE DAY WHEN IT STARTED OVERHEATING AGAIN. DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WRONG WITH THIS THING!!!*AK
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH A LOUD CLICKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT. THEN, VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER RESTARTED VEHICLE, AND PULLED OVER. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT TRANSMISSION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH STEERING PULLEY FAILED. VEHICLE LOST POWER. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE VEHICLE SWITCHES ITSELF INTO 4-WHEEL DRIVE WHILE THE MANUAL SWITCH IS IN 2-WHEEL DRIVE. THE TAILLIGHTS FAILED. AT NEW COMPUTER HAD TO BE INSTALLED. THE RACK AND PINION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY SHIFT FROM NORMAL 2WD TO 4WD WITHOUT WARNING. HAPPENS AT SLOW (PARKING LOT) AND TURNPIKE SPEEDS (75 MPH). DIFFICULT TO CONTROL VEHICLE WHEN FAILURE OCCURS ON TURNPIKE. DEALER REPROGRAMMED TCCM (TRANSFER CASE CONTROL MODULE) BUT DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. *AK

HEADLIGHT FAILED FOR THE 4TH TIME...I LOOKED AT THE CONNECTOR AND IT HAS BURNED AREA INDICATING A SHORT...NO FIRE THIS TIME BUT MAY CAUSE ONE IN FUTURE...IF THE LIGHT FAILS THIS OFTEN, CAN BOTH FAIL AND CAUSE INJUSRY OR DEATH DUE TO NO HEADLIGHTS WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT??? TOO MANY FAILURES FOR A CAR THAT IS ONLY 2 1/2 YRS. OLD...*AK
