2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER AT 38,000 TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WAS TOLD IT IS CAUSED BY 3 DIFFERENT SHOPS THE SUNSHIELD (SUN GEAR) ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE AND GM KNEW ABOUT IT. WAS REBUILT IN SEPT. 2005. 3/1/2010 VEHICLE NOW HAS 82000 TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AND WAS AGAIN TOLD SAME THING. VEHICLE MAKES A LOUD POPPING SOUND THEN SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND REVERSE, 2 AND 3 GO OUT WITH OUT WARNING. VEHICLE REVS HIGH THEN STRUGGLES UPON ACCELERATION FROM TRAFFIC LIGHT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER 4WD. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH IN REVERSE INTO THE GARAGE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE DRIVER THEN PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND THE VEHICLE DROVE IN REVERSE ON ITS OWN. THE DRIVER ALSO STATED THAT SOMETIME HIS INSIDE OVERHEAD LIGHT SHUT ON AND OFF WHEN NO ONE WAS INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,500.
THE REAR RIGHT AND LEFT BRAKE LIGHTS AND REAR TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS HAVE BURNED OUT REPEATED. I PURCHASED THE 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER IN DECEMBER 2001. THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED TO OCCUR WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED AT 30,000 MILES IN 2003. I HAD TO REPLACE THE CIRCUIT BOARDS THE LIGHTS PLUG INTO AT MY OWN COST TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THERE WAS A RECALL TO REPLACE THE CIRCUIT BOARDS IN 2004, NHTSA #04V527000, WHICH I HAD PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. SUBSEQUENTLY THE CIRCUIT BOARDS BURNED OUT AGAIN A FEW YEARS LATER. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T REPLACE THE CIRCUIT BOARDS AT THEIR EXPENSE. I THEN PURCHASED AND INSTALLED THE CIRCUIT BOARDS MYSELF. IN 2010 THE CIRCUIT BOARDS BURNED OUT AGAIN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INVESTIGATED AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE OTHER THAN THE CIRCUIT BOARD. THEY CHARGED ME $191.50 TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM AND CHANGE OUT THE CIRCUIT BOARDS AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS AND REAR TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS NOT WORKING INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH. I RECEIVED A TICKET/WARNING ON 2-2-11 FOR THE BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING BUT EXPECT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL BECOME INOPERATIVE AGAIN SOON AS THIS IS THE 5TH SET OF CIRCUIT BOARDS THAT HAVE BEEN PLACED IN THE VEHICLE AND THEY KEEP BURNING OUT, AND CHEVROLET/GENERAL MOTORS HASN'T SUPPLIED A SATISFACTORY CORRECTION TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. CURRENT MILEAGE IS 159,000 AND THE PROBLEM STARTED AT 30,000. *TR
I HAVE TO REPORT A FAILED RECALL CAMPAIGN 04V046000 ON MY 2002 TRAILBLAZER. MY TRAILBLAZER HAD THE RECALL PERFORMED ON 10-26-04 CONCERNING A PROBLEM OF WIPERS STOPPING MID STROKE. I DON'T DRIVE THAT CAR THAT OFTEN, AND WHEN I DO, IT IS MOST LIKELY RAINING. WELL, THE STOPPING MID STROKE IS AGAIN OCCURRING. THE DEALER IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THE RECALL CAMPAIGN HAS ALREADY BEEN EXECUTED. IT DID NOT MATTER THAT THE RECALL CONDITION STILL EXISTS. *CN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EXT. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED HE ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT GEAR OUT OF PARK POSITION AND IT SHIFTED INTO A DIFFERENT GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE GEAR SHIFT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AND ADVISED HIM THAT THE GEAR SHIFT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V075000, POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE RECALL REPAIR HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED. THE FAILURE HAD BEEN ON-GOING FOR THE LAST YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
THE CHECK AIRBAG LIGHT ON MY 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER CAME ON AND REMAIN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPEN. THE FIRST TIME WAS IN 2003 AND CHEVROLET FIXED THE PROBLEM. THIS TIME, I'M BEING CHARGED. ARE THERE A TEN YEAR WARRANTY ON AIRBAG. NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. *TR
INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) I WAS TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND ON KY HWY 1531 (EASTWOOD FISHERVILLE RD). WHEN I APPROACHED A SHARP CURVE IN THE ROADWAY, I OBSERVED A HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN TRAVELING NORTHBOUND TOO FAST FOR THE ICY, SNOWY ROAD CONDITIONS. THE MINIVAN DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF HER VEHICLE AND STRUCK MY 2002 TRAILBLAZER HEAD-ON IN THE SOUTHBOUND LANE. AT THE TIME OF IMPACT, MY TRAILBLAZER WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WITH MY RIGHT FOOT PRESSED FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE HONDA ODYSSEY AIRBAGS FULLY DEPLOYED. MY TRAILBLAZERS AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. BOTH VEHICLES WERE TOTAL LOSS. MY TRAILBLAZER WAS TOWED TO GM REPAIR SHOP BAUCHMAN CHEVROLET IN LOUISVILLE KY. IT REMAINS STORED IN ITS ORIGINAL POST-ACCIDENT CONDITION. I HAVE RETAINED OWNERSHIP TITLE OF THIS VEHICLE. GM REPAIR SHOP NOTED EXTENSIVE FRAME DAMAGE AND BROKEN AIRBAG SENSOR. THIS IS THE SECOND FRONT END INJURY CRASH INVOLVING THIS TRAILBLAZER WHERE THE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. SEE ALSO ODI CASE # 10314629. GM WAS NOTIFIED OF INCIDENT AND AGAIN I OPENED AN INVESTIGATION WITH GM AS TO WHY THE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. AS OF THIS DATE (2/26/2010) GM INVESTIGATORS HAVE NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. (GM CASE [XXX] ). I SUFFERED LOW BACK INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT. THIS INJURY OCCURRED 8 WEEKS AFTER SPINAL FUSION SURGERY. I HAVE BEEN IN PHYSICAL THERAPY SINCE THE ACCIDENT FOR JOINT DAMAGE IN THE SACRAL ILLIUM AREA. *TR

THIRD BRAKE LIGHT WING FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH IN WHICH THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE BUT DID NOT INFORM THE CONTACT OF THE CAUSE OF FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY DID OFFER HIM A SETTLEMENT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 150,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
BOUGHT 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WHICH OPERATED FINE UNTIL 2 YRS AGO. FIRST, THE SPEEDOMETER GOES NUTS, THE NEEDLE REGISTERS FASTER SPEEDS THAN CAR IS GOING. SOME DAYS IT WOULD WORK, SOME DAYS IT WOULD NOT. NOW IT POINTS PAST 120 MPH, DIRECTLY DOWNWARDS, STUCK THERE AND DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL. SITTING STILL IN MY DRIVEWAY THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWS ITS GOING OVER 120 MPH. THE GAS GAUGE GOES NUTS NEXT. THE NEEDLE GOES PAST FULL AND BACK AROUND TO THE GAS PUMP ICON AND STAYS THERE. THE TACHOMETER FOLLOWED SUIT DOING THE SAME THING AND INDICATING RPMS PAST THE 9000 RANGE AND DOESN'T SETTLE BACK AT ZERO WITH ENGINE OFF. AND NOW THE TEMP GAUGE IS SHOWING 200 - 250 DEGREES WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTED. AS FAR AS I CAN TELL THE VOLTAGE AND BATTERY GAUGES ARE STILL SHOWING NORMAL READINGS - SO FAR. AM I SPEEDING, IS MY ENGINE ABOUT TO BLOW UP, OR AM I GOING TO RUN OUT OF GAS? I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING IF I AM DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT OR UNKNOWINGLY SPEEDING, NO IDEA HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE TANK, UNAWARE THAT MY ENGINE IS REVVING UP INTO A DANGEROUS RANGE OR ABOUT TO BLOW UP; OR IF MY ENGINE IS DANGEROUSLY OVERHEATING. I DEPEND ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TO ALERT ME TO THOSE DANGERS. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON THESE FAILING INSTRUMENT CLUSTERS A LONG TIME AGO BUT ALTHOUGH HUNDREDS HAVE COMPLAINED GM SAYS THEY WON'T FIX THIS ISSUE ON THE TRAILBLAZER. THEY DON'T CARE THAT WE TRAILBLAZER OWNERS MUST DRIVE OUR VEHICLES WITHOUT WORKING INSTRUMENTS. THIS SITUATION IS DANGEROUS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION. THE AUTOMATIC DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WAS NONFUNCTIONAL WHEN ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE FAILURE WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF FOUR MONTHS IN WHICH THERE WAS NO SUFFICIENT REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
TRANSMISSION FLUID BEGAN LEAKING FROM UNDER MY 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER IN LARGE QUANTITIES. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT MY TRANSMISSION LINES WERE RUSTED THROUGH, THUS THE REASON FOR THE LEAK. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRAILBLAZERS AND THAT IT WOULD BE ABOUT $500 TO REPLACE THE LINES. THE LINES HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED SINCE 2002 AND INSTEAD OF ONLY HAVING TO REPLACE THE TWO THAT ARE BAD, ALL FOUR WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
HIT HEAD ON BY ANOTHER CAR TOTALING MY CAR, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
GREETINGS NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION SAFETY ADMINISTRATION, I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE MYSELF AS ANTHONY HORSLEY, SR. ON TUESDAY MORNING AT 5:30AM, MY COOPER MADE TIRES BROKE DOWN ON THE LEFT REAR SIDE OF THE OF MY VEHICLE, WHICH IS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. I MANAGED TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY AND EXIT SAFELY. I PULLED OVER AT A PARKING LOT TO DISCOVER THAT THE TIRE HAD SEPARATED AND THE LOOSE RUBBER HAD RIPPED A HOLE IN MY BUMPER. THE COOPER TIRE IS A DOMINATOR CLASS 255 - 70 - R16, ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THROUGH DISCOUNT TIRE, WITH FULL WARRANTY. IN FEBRUARY OF 2008 I WAS ALERTED WHEN I BROUGHT IN THE TRAILBLAZER FOR AN ALIGNMENT CHECK THAT THE TIRES WERE BEING RECALLED AND THEY SUBSEQUENTLY REPLACED THE FRONT TIRES WITH MICHELIN LTX TIRES. I ASKED THEM WHY THEY HAD NOT REPLACED THE REAR TIRES AS WELL AS THEY WERE THE SAME TYPE. DISCOUNT STATED THAT THEY WERE ONLY GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO REPLACE THE FRONT TIRES. AT THIS POINT I BELIEVE THAT THE NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION SAFETY ADMINISTRATION SHOULD LOOK FURTHER INTO THIS MATTER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE SHIFTING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, THE GEAR SELECTOR DISPLAYED DRIVE. WHILE TAKING HIS FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD. HE SPECULATED THAT THE RETAINER CLIP, THAT HOLDS THE SHIFTER CABLE TO THE GEAR SELECTOR ARM ON THE TRANSMISSION, HAD FRACTURED. HE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,100. UPDATED 12/01/09 *BF THE TRANSMISSION CABLE LINKAGE FAILED. THE CONSUMER PULLED TO A STOP, APPLIED THE BRAKE AND MOVED THE SHIFTER TO PARK. WHEN HE REMOVED HIS FOOT FROM THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD. HE IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BRAKE AGAIN, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND SET THE PARKING BRAKE. HE VERIFIED THAT THE SHIFTER WAS IN PARK. HE ALSO OBSERVED THE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE. HE ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE SHIFTER FROM THE PARK POSITION, BUT THE SAFETY INTERLOCKS WOULD NOT ALLOW THE SHIFTER TO BE MOVED, EVEN AFTER DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. WHEN HE LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND CHECKED THE LINKAGE HE SAW THE SHIFTER CABLE WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SELECTOR LEVER. THERE WAS A WHITE NYLON BUSHING AT THE END OF THE SHIFTER THAT HOLDS THE CABLE END ON THE SELECTOR LEVER. ONE SIDE OF THE BUSHING HAD BROKEN OFF. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAKE A TEMPORARY REPAIR BY MANUALLY MOVING THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SELECTOR LEVER TO THE PARK POSITION AND PLACING THE LINKAGE CABLE END BACK ONTO THE END OF THE SELECTOR LEVEL. MY COMPLAINT IS ABOUT MY 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER.ON THE FRONT RIGHT (PASSENGER SIDE) OF THE VEHICLE.WHENEVER I HIT A BUMP THERE IS AN ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLE VIBRATION.I HAVE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP TO MAKE IT STOP. THIS STARTED ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO AND IS GRADUALLY GETTING WORSE.I TOOK IT TO A NUMBER OF SHOPS AND THEY'RE ALL TELLING ME THE SAME THING.TRANSFER CASE.THE CHEAPEST ESTIMATE IS ABOUT $1300 , AND THAT IS FOR A USED TRANSFER CASE.I LOVE THIS TRUCK AND I REALLY HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL RECENTLY.THEN I STARTED TO READ REVIEWS AND REALIZED THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLES BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP BUYING NEW VEHICLES ALL THE TIME,OR VERY COSTLY REPAIRS. JUST ABOUT EVERY VEHICLE THAT I'VE OWNED HAS BEEN 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND I'VE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE ,EVEN ON TRUCKS WITH TWICE AS MANY MILES. 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WITH GOODYEAR FORTERA ARMOUR TIRES HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SIDEWALL OF ONE TIRE SEPARATING. *NJ THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE WENT FAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH. THE CONSUMER WAS NOT GIVEN AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE FAILED IN THE MANNER IN WHICH IT DID. *JB
MY VEHICLE IS A 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. I AM WRITING TODAY REGARDING THE ENGINE THAT HAS FAILED THREE TIMES. THERE WERE MULTIPLE RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE INCLUDING; AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS, BACK TAIL LIGHTS ETC. THE ENGINE FAILED, AND WAS REPLACED BEFORE 32K MILES AND AGAIN AT 72K. NOW ON THE THIRD TIME, THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED! WHEN WE CONTACTED GM INC. THEY ASKED US TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THERE LOCAL SHOP. THE SHOP TOOK THE VEHICLE APART AND DECIDED PER GM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, WHICH IS INFORMATION GM KNEW FROM THE BEGINNING. I FEEL THAT THEY ARE SHELLING THEIR RESPONSIBILITY FOR A LEMON PRODUCT THEY MADE. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS SUV. AS I REMEMBER MY TAX DOLLARS BAILED THEM OUT AND HELP GM STAY AFLOAT! I AM NOT ASKING FOR MUCH. I PAID CASH $26,544 FOR THIS GM PRODUCT. THEY GOT PAID AND THE ONLY THING I GOT IS PAIN FROM AN SUV THAT WAS DEFECTIVE FROM THE START. I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX A TRUCK I ALREADY PAID FOR AND MAINTAINED AS THE MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED. AFTER WORKING 30 YEARS, I HAVE FALLEN ILL AND NOW I AM ON A FIXED INCOME. I AM ONLY ASKING FOR MY SUV TO BE FIXED BY GM BECAUSE THEY KNOW THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. TO ADD, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH MY CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. I NEED MY VEHICLE, ITS MY TRANSPORTATION TO THE DOCTOR. I THOUGHT I HAD A RELIABLE SUV THAT WOULD LAST ME. ON 9/25/09, MY 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER STALLED AND LOST POWER STEERING WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, GASOLINE WAS CAUSED TO SPILL ON THE ROADWAY. THERE IS RUST ALL OVER THE INSIDE OF MY ENGINE, TWO EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS RUSTED OFF AND I HAD AN EXHAUST LEAK. I HAD TO HAVE IT FIXED SO I TOOK IT INTO A CHEVROLET DEALER. WHILE IT WAS THERE THEY TOLD ME THAT THE GAS TANK HAD A CRACK IN IT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, AT A COST OF OVER 700.00 DOLLARS. I CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE THE MANIFOLD AND TANK FIXED. NOW I AM FACED WITH EITHER EXHAUST LEAKING OR GAS LEAKING. THEY SAID THE GAS TANK WAS CRACKED AT THE NECK. I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS TO STATE THAT I THOUGHT IT WAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. GM CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD THEM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN GOOD SHAPE AND THAT THERE WAS NO SIGN OF MISUSE OR NEGLECT. GM CALLED ME BACK AND STATED THAT THE CRACK WAS DUE TO THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE AND WEAR AND TEAR. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A VEHICLE GAS TANK CRACKING FOR NO REASON UNLESS THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE GAS TANK ITSELF. THE TANK IS PLASTIC AND THE NECK IS ALSO PLASTIC, IT IS ALL ONE PIECE. I FEEL THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND THROUGH NO FAULT OF MY OWN I HAVE TO FIND A REMEDY TO THE PROBLEM. THE ONLY WAY TO TELL IF THERE IS A LEAK IS IF THE TANK IS FULL. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON VACATION AT APPROXIMATELY 2 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME DESTINATION, THERE WAS A POP NOISE THAT WAS HEARD BY ALL.
