2003 TRAILBLAZER FILLER NECK ON FUEL TANK CRACKED, FUEL TANK IS SAME PART NUMBER AS TRAILBLAZER EXT WHICH IS UNDER SPECIAL COVERAGE FOR SAME PROBLEM, HOWEVER REGULAR MODEL IS NOT. COST TO REPLACE FUEL TANK IS $900 FOR OEM NEW PRODUCT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE VEHICLE HAS KELLY SAFARI TREX TIRES, SIZE P245/70/R16 (NA). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON A SNOW COVERED ROAD, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO FISHTAIL INTO A SPINOUT UNEXPECTEDLY. THE DRIVER PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. SHE NOTICED THAT THE TIRE EXPLODED ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE TIRE TREAD DEBRIS EXPLODED IN ALL DIRECTIONS IN THE ROAD DUE TO THE MASSIVE FORCE. THE TIRE WAS CHANGED AND REPLACED WITH A SPARE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION AND THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE SHOP. TWO REPLACEMENT TIRES WERE ORDERED FOR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 12,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TOOK IT TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND WAS TOLD THERE IS A CRACK IN THE GAS TANK BUT CHEVY ALSO KNEW THIS WAS A PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY GET ALOT OF THEM BUT BECAUSE THE TB HAS SO MANY MILES ON IT I MUST FOOT THE BILL OF 1500 TO REPLACE IT EVEN THOUGH IT THE GAS TANK AND THEY KNEW THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH IT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED THEE WAS A PROBLEM. *TR
PURCHASED 2003 TRAILBLAZER, 1 MONTH AFTER PURCHASE, SPEEDOMETER AND RPM GAUGE ERRATICALLY MOVING CONSISTENTLY. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET AND OBSERVING THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE I FELT COMPELLED TO NOT ONLY WRITE A LETTER TO GM, BUT ALSO TO WRITE COMPLAINTS TO EVERYONE I COULD POSSIBLY THINK OF TO WRITE A LETTER TO REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. NOT ONLY DOES THIS PROBLEM LEAVE THE CONSUMER WITH A FINANCIAL BURDEN, SAFETY ISSUES SHOULD ALSO BE CONSIDERED TO THE CONSUMER AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS AT RISK OF BEING INNOCENT CITIZENS SUBJECT TO THE DEFECTIVE AUTOMOBILES THAT GM HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO SELL WITHOUT ANY LOYALTY TO THE CONSUMERS WHO SHOW THEIR AMERICAN LOYALTY BY PURCHASING GM'S DEFECTIVE AUTOMOBILES!!! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO OPERATE IN TWO SPEEDS WITHIN THE MODE SELECTION. IN ADDITION, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER SYSTEM FAILED TO DEACTIVATE WITHOUT SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. THE FAILURES OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING AND EACH TIME THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE ACTIVATED. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V046000 (VISIBILITY;WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER), ALTHOUGH THE FAILURES WERE IDENTICAL. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000. UPDATED 3/4/2010 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS DID NOT SHUT UNLESS THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND THEY ONLY OPERATED IN 2 SPEEDS. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 04V046000 EVEN THOUGH THE FAILURE WAS IDENTICAL. UPDATED 05/20/10.*JB
I OWN A 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER LS. BOUGHT IT NEW OFF THE DEALER'S LOT. IN 2007, APPROXIMATELY 100,000 MILES LATER THE TACHOMETER BEGAN TO FUNCTION INTERMITTENTLY. AT 120,000 MILES, IT QUIT ALL TOGETHER. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION INTERMITTENTLY. NOW IN 2009 AND 150,000 MILES IT DOES NOT WORK 90+% OF THE TIME. WHEN IT DOES, THE SPEED INDICATION IS UNRELIABLE. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE INTO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR ESTIMATE; $800 TO $1000 ALL DAY SITUATION. HAVE TAKEN IT TO OTHER REPAIR SHOPS, BUT THEY REFER BACK TO THE DEALER IN ORDER TO OBTAIN PARTS. SO FAR, HAVE BEEN ABLE TO OPERATE VEHICLE, BUT AWAITING THE NEXT GAUGE TO FAIL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING FROM WORK I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND THE TRAILBLAZERS RPM DROPPED DOWN AND THE TRUCK SHUT OFF IN TRAFFIC. BUT ALL THE LIGHTS WERE ON. I HAD TO RESTART THE TRUCK AND IT CRANK UP. THREE WEEKS LATER I WAS PULLING UP TO A GAS STATION AND PRESSED ON THE BRAKES TO STOP AND THE TRUCK CUT OFF (SAME EXPERIENCE). YESTERDAY I WAS DRIVING IN 5 O'CLOCK TRAFFIC AND PRESSED ON THE BRAKES AND IT SHUT OFF AGAIN. *TR
ABOUT A MONTH AGO I STARTED TO SMELL GAS VAPORS WHEN I DROVE MY CAR. ONE DAY I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND A PERSON NEXT TO ME HONKED HIS HORN AND TOLD ME THAT HE SAW GAS LEAKING UNDER MY CAR. I WAS NEAR PEP BOYS AND PULLED IN THE PARKING LOT. I SHUT MY CAR OFF AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH IT. I SAW A LOT OF GAS DRIPPING FROM UNDER MY FUEL TANK AND FALLING ONTO THE GROUND. I WENT INSIDE PEP BOYS AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM. IT WAS NEARLY CLOSING TIME SO I LEFT THE CAR OVERNIGHT AND CALLED FOR A RIDE HOME. PEP BOYS CALLED ME THE NEXT MORNING AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $270 JUST TO DROP THE TANK AND LOOK AT WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE LEAK. THEY SAID IT WAS LIKELY A BAD FUEL PUMP OR BAD FUEL LINES. I ASKED THEM ANOTHER ESTIMATE ON HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO FIX MY GAS LEAK. THEY SAID IT WOULD COST AROUND $600 TO $800 TO FIX MY CAR IF THE FUEL PUMP OR BAD FUEL LINES WERE REALLY THE PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM TO NOT WORK ON THE CAR AND SAID THAT I WOULD PICK IT UP. SO I TOWED THE CAR BACK HOME AND PULLED IT INTO THE GARAGE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT MY CAR HAS LEAKED GAS. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK OFF THE FUEL TANK TO CHECK WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE TOP OF THE TANK, THE FUEL PUMP WAS CORRODED AND THERE WAS GAS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE PUMP. ALSO WHEN I TOOK THE TANK OFF, THE FILLER NECK HOSE WAS CRACKED AND WAS NOT CONNECTED TO THE GAS TANK. I CALLED A JUNK YARD AND ORDERED A FUEL PUMP FOR $150. I ALSO CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND TOLD THEM MY ISSUE. THEY SAID THAT MY CAR HAD TOO MANY MILES ON IT AND WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY ANYMORE. SINCE THE DEALER COULD NOT HELP ME, I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ISSUED A SAFETY DEFECT ON MY VEHICLE. THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A EXTENDED SPECIAL COVERAGE ON MY VEHICLE THAT MIGHT COVER THE REPAIR. I CALLED ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND I AM WAITING FOR THEM TO CALL ME BACK. RIGHT NOW MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE GARAGE FOR ALMOST A MONTH. THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IS TO BUY A NEW GAS TANK FOR $500. *TR
HEARD A POPPING SOUND NEAR THE CENTER FRONT OF THE SUV. THEREAFTER NOTICED SOME GRINDING GOING ON WHEN THE SUV WAS ACCELERATING. TOOK IT A DEALER TO HAVE LOOK AT THE BRAKES. TURNED OUT TO BE THE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY BROKE AND GOT METAL FILINGS IN THE DIFFERENTIAL CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO SLIP. REPAIR COST THIRTY-THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS. REPLACED THE DIFFERENTIAL AND FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY. *TR
2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILURE. ABOUT 2 YRS AGO THE TACH. QUIT WORKING OR READS INCORRECTLY. CURRENTLY THE SPEEDOMETER AND NOW THE TEMP. AND GAS GAUGE HAVE QUIT OR GIVE ERRONEOUS READINGS. I WAS TOLD OTHER TRUCK MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT NOT THE TRAILBLAZER. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE, I HAVE TO GET IT FIXED AT MY OWN EXPENSE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER READ 110 MPH. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW MINUTES TO ALLOW THE SPEEDOMETER TO RESET, BUT IT ONLY DECREASED TO 90 MPH. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS ELECTRICAL FAILURE AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CONSOLE CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MUST USE HER GPS TO DETERMINE HOW FAST SHE IS DRIVING. SHE FEELS THAT GMC SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,734.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RPM DIAL FAILS TO MOVE AND THE SPEEDOMETER IS BEGINNING TO FAIL. INITIALLY, THE SPEEDOMETER MADE A TICKING NOISE AS THE SPEED INCREASED, BUT CURRENTLY THE DIAL IS STUCK AT 40 MPH. WHENEVER THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF, THE SPEEDOMETER DIAL DOES NOT GO BACK TO ZERO. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RESTARTED, THE DIAL WILL DROP TO 35 MPH. WHEN THE DRIVER ACCELERATES, THE DIAL MOVES AND REMAINS AT 40 MPH. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT IS NEVER SURE HOW FAST SHE IS DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND ISSUED AN IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN FOR THOSE WITH VEHICLES THAT HAD LESS THAN 80,000 MILES. THROUGH RESEARCH, THE CONTACT FOUND NUMEROUS VEHICLES WITH THE SAME FAILURES, BUT WITH MORE MILEAGE. SHE BELIEVES THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED BECAUSE IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 101,000. UPDATED 08/31/09 *BF UPDATED 09/04/09.*JB
SMELL OF GAS. TOOK TO MECHANIC AND FOUND THE FUEL TANK IS LEAKING WHERE THE FILLER TUBE GOES INTO THE TANK CAUSING THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. *TR
STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT THE CAR WOULD NOT GO FORWARD WOULD GO BACKWARDS HAD JUST HAD TRANSMISSION REPLACED 1 YEAR BEFORE ONLY HAD 79K MILES BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW BOTH DRIVER WINDOW MOTORS HAVE GONE OUT SEAL TO FRONT DRIVER DOOR TRANSMISSION REPLACE PWR STEERING--RACK AND PINIONS AND USUALLY HAVE REGULAR CHECK UP WORST CAR I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. *TR
THE 4WD DOES NOT WORK ON THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE 4WD WILL ALL OF SUDDEN JUST STOP WORKING FOR NO APPARENT REASON, THEN WILL WORK AGAIN. THE INDICATOR SAYS THE VEHICLE IS IN 4WD, BUT THE FRONT TIRES ARE NOT LOCKED IN AND ACTS AS IF IT IS IN 2WD. THE VEHICLE GOES LONG PERIODS OF TIME WITH THE 4WD WORKING, THEN THE 4WD JUST STOPS FUNCTIONING. THIS, IN MY OPINION, IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS AND IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. JUST THIS WEEKEND I WAS IN A VERY HILLY AREA AND WE RECEIVED SOME SNOW, MY 4WD DECIDED NOT TO WORK AND I WAS VERY NEARLY STUCK SEVERAL TIMES. NOT TO MENTION, CAUSING A TRAFFIC HAZARD BECAUSE MY VEHICLE SPUN OUT AT EVERY INTERSECTION BECAUSE I HAVE NO TRACTION. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER AND THEY INSIST NOTHING IS WRONG. I GET THE VEHICLE HOME AND THE 4WD STILL DOES NOT WORK. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET A LOT OF CONSUMERS HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THEIR FAULTY 4WD SYSTEM. THESE VEHICLES ARE AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. *TR
POWER SEAT ON DRIVER'S SIDE HAS STOPPED WORKING. I AM TOLD THIS IS EITHER A SOFTWARE UPDATE/UPGRADE OR A REPAIR DEPENDING ON WHO YOU TALK TO. IF THE DEALER IS WILLING TO WORK WITH YOU AND NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU THEY WILL DO THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE. IF NOT WILLING TO WORK WITH YOU THEY WILL SELL YOU A NEW SEAT MOTOR AND CHARGE YOU AT LEAST $400.00 FOR INSTALLATION. *TR
RAISED REAR LIGHTGATE HEARD A CRUNCHING SOUND. ON INSPECTION THE PLASTIC PIECE ON THE TOP OF THE LIGHTGATE WAS CRACKED & LIFTED UP. IT WAS A FAIRLY WARM DAY & I HAD WASHED THE TRUCK EARLY IN THE DAY & IT SAT IN THE SUN ALL DAY. ICE BUILD UP WAS NOT A POSSIBILITY. TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR REPAIR OF THIS PIECE, BODYSHOP STATES THAT THERE ARE 2 BUSHINGS MISSING FROM THE HINGES WHERE THE REAR GLASS PIVOTS ON THE HINGES. DEALER PARTS DEPT. CONFIRMS THAT BUSHINGS SHOULD BE THERE. PARTS DEPT. HAD CONVERSATION WITH GM CUSTOMER SERVICE THESE HINGES & REPLACEMENT BUSHING ARE ONLY SERVICES ABLE WHEN THE REAR LIFTGATE GLASS GETS REPLACED. *TR
NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO WARNING SOUNDS. WHILE CROSSING AN INTERSECTION, TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. 0 FORWARD GEARS, REVERSE WORKS. VEHICLE JUST REACHED 82,000 MILES. SERVICED REGULARLY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, SMOKE APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE AND ENTERED THROUGH THE DEFROST VENTS. THE FLAMES SPREAD THROUGH THE HOOD AND THEN UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND STATED THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WANTED TO KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE FAULTY FUEL INJECTOR FOR THE 2002 MODELS, BUT THE 2003 MODELS WERE NOT INCLUDED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 79,500.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED, BUT THE CONTACT HAS NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH APPROXIMATELY 63,000 MILES ALREADY ON IT. WITHIN A MONTH I NOTICED THE SPEEDOMETER WAS DOING FUNNY THINGS LIKE READING 100MPH WHEN I WAS ONLY DRIVING ABOUT 25MPH. I CONTACTED A DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $500 TO REPAIR. WE DO NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY SO I LEFT IT. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED UNTIL THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER. I HAD LEARNED HOW TO GAUGE MY SPEED BY USING THE TAKOMETER BUT THAT STARTED TO GO SHORTLY AFTER THE SPEEDOMETER. NOW MY BATTERY GAUGE IS STARTING TO SHOW SIGNS OF FRITZING. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND THAT GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. I NOW HAVE A GPS WHICH CAN TELL ME MY SPEED BUT THE BATTERY GAUGE IS A DEFINATE SAFETY ISSUE. THANK YOU! *TR
I WAS ON HIGHWAY I25 SB IN DENVER, CO. MIDDLE LANE, CLEAR CONDITIONS, 30-35 MPH. 4 CARS IN FRONT STOPPED SHORT, I CAME TO A STOP AS SOON AS I COULD, MISSING THE CAR IN FRONT BY AN INCH. A VAN BEHIND ME REAR ENDED ME GOING APPROX 30MPH. I AM 5'1 SO MY HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING A CONCUSSION. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT NEITHER MY SEATBELT NOR MY FRONT PASSENGER'S LOCKED INTO POSITION. MY PASSENGER'S SEAT EVEN ROCKED BACK RENDERING HER SPINE COMPLETELY UNSTABLE. SINCE I PURCHASED MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER IN JAN 2004, I HAD IT RETURNED TWICE COMPLAINING OF A TICKING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE. LOCAL DEALER WOULD NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE AS THE NOISE WOULD COME A GO..I ISSUED A COMPLAINT TO THE DEALER AND THEY GOT UPSET BUT NEVER VOLUNTERRED TO FIX THE NOISE.. LAST MONTH A LOUD NOISE CAME FROM MY ENGINE, LIKE A VACUUM SOUND.. I LOST POWER AND WAS FORCED TO LEAVE THE TRUCK AT A GM DEALERSHIP.. THEY FIXED MADE REPAIRS BY REPLACING THE CLUTCH PUMP. COTS ME 900.00 FOR REPAIRS. NOW 3 WEEKS LATER I NOTICED THAT THE TICKING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE HAS DISAPPEARED.... IF THE CHEVY DEALER ONLY ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM A FEW YEARS AGO WHEN I ORIGINALLY COMPLAINED , I MAY NOT HAD TO DISH OUT 900 FOR REPAIRS.. THANK YOU CHEVY! SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING DURING A COLD RAINY SPELL IN JANUARY 2009. AS THE WEATHER WARMED, THE SPEEDOMETER STARTING WORKING BUT QUICKLY MALFUNCTIONED AGAIN. NOW THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL AND STAYS AT 120 CONSISTENTLY. I HAVE THE VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR REPLACED IN FEB. 2009, BUT IT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD ALL FUSES AND WIRING CHECKED BY AN ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND HE HAS COME TO THE CONCLUSION IT COULD BE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. I HAVE RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM FOR CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZERS. *TR

AS A RESULT, GASOLINE OVERFLOWS AND LEAKS FROM THE TANK OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. SINCE DECEMBER OF 2008, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED FOUR TIMES, WHICH INCLUDED A FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY AND TANK REPLACEMENT. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 55,000.

DESIGN FLAW OF THE CENTER HIGH MOUNTED STOP LAMP APPLIQUE (AKA - REAR UPPER LIFTGATE MOLDING) DURING THE WINTER MONTHS, ICE AND SNOW BUILDS UP BEHIND THE MOLDING, AND WHEN THE USER ATTEMPTS TO OPEN THE LIFTGATE, THE MOLDING IS SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE, SOMETIMES RESULTS IN PERMANENT BREAKAGE OF THE MOLDING, OR EVEN SHATTERING OF THE REAR WINDOW. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT THE COMPANY IS ALREADY AWARE OF, AS EVIDENCED BY A RELEASED TSB. AS EVIDENCED BY NUMEROUS REPORTS ON "TRAILVOY.COM", MANY GROUP MEMBERS HAVE REPORTED HAVING THIS EXACT PROBLEM. I HAVE READ REPORTS OF THIS PIECE MYSTERIOUSLY COMING OFF, TO THE SURPRISE OF THE DRIVER, WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. IT SEEMS THAT WHEN THIS VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED, TOO MUCH OF THE LIFTGATE'S STRUCTURE WAS LEFT TO RELY ON THE STABILITY OF PLASTIC AND GLASS. FOR INSTANCE, ON MY VEHICLE, AFTER BREAKAGE OF THE MOLDING, THE FORCE EXERTED BY THE GLASS LIFT ARMS CAUSED THE ADHESIVE TO SEPARATE FROM THE WINDOWS HINGE, LEAVING IT "DANGLING BY A THREAD". I FEEL THAT THIS A PROBLEM THAT HAS OCCURRED IN TOO MANY CASES; A PROBLEM THAT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE SAFETY ISSUES WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. IT IS AN EXPENSIVE PART TO REPLACE ($700-$1000, WITH LABOR). CHEVROLET HAS SINCE REDESIGNED THE TRAILBLAZER VEHICLES TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE A PROBLEM SIMILAR TO MANY OTHERS. I HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. I HAVE ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM WITH THE SPEEDOMETER ON THIS VEHICLE. THE SPEEDOMETER OCCASSIONALLY STOPS WORKING ENTIRELY FROM TIME TO TIME AND OTHER TIMES, HAS A MIND OF IT'S OWN AND DECIDES TO MAKE A RANDOM NUMBER THE ZERO MARK AND INCREASE SPEED FROM THAT POINT. I KNOW THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THERE ARE TIMES THAT I HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST I AM TRAVELING. I HAVE SINCE TAKEN THIS MATTER TO GENERAL MOTORS IN AN ATTEMPT TO GIVE THEM AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECTIFY AN UNSAFE SITUATION. IN RESPONSE, THEY ASKED ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE INTO A CERTIFIED GM DEALER FOR A VEHICLE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR. I DID JUST THAT. MY VEHICLE WAS FOUND TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE DEALER WAS NICE ENOUGH TO INFORM ME THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL RELATED PROBLEMS THAT GM HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR... UNFORTUNATELY, I SEEM TO HAVE THE ONLY MODEL IN THIS VEHICLE CLASS THAT IS NOT COVERED IN THIS RECALL. AND GM WAS NICE ENOUGH TO OFFER TO DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN MY CASE... WHICH INCLUDES NOT REFUNDING THE COST OF THE DIAGNOSTIC THAT THEY REQUESTED IN ORDER TO GATHER THEIR INFORMATION. IT HAPPENS PARTICULARLY WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE. IN THE MORNING IT CAN HAPPEN 15-20 TIMES BEFORE I GET TO WORK, AND THEN IN THE AFTERNOON ONLY ONCE OR TWICE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL AUTO REPAIR SHOPS AND NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO FIX IT. THEY RECOMMEND ONE THING, I PAY FOR IT AND THEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I HAVE HAD MY CLUTCH REPLACED AND ALSO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SYSTEM. I RESEARCHED "CHEVY REDUCED ENGINE POWER" ON THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE A GREAT AMOUNT OF PAGES OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM.
