LEAK OF GAS FROM 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. POINT WHERE FILLER NECK CONNECTS TO GAS TANK. IT IS DEFECTIVE PART AND LEAKS GAS UNDER DRIVER SIDE DOOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO UNLOCK THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR BUT THE DOOR LOCK WOULD NOT OPEN. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR BUT IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT USED LUBRICANT ON THE FRONT PASSENGERS SIDE DOOR BUT IT WOULD NOT LATCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V494000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE RECALL WAS ONLY FOR THE 2003 TRAILBLAZER EXT MODELS AND NOT HER VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN OVERPOWERING GASOLINE ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS WITH THE FILLER CAP AND FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR THE REPAIRS BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY HAZARD INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 129,400. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE STOPPED AT LIGHT HIT FROM REAR. *TR
THE GAUGES STARTED FAILING ONE AT A TIME. FIRST THE OIL AND BATTERY NEEDLES MOVED TO THE FAR RIGHT AND BURIED OFF THE CHART. NOW THE SPEED IS READING 90MPH AT A STOP LIGHT AND 10MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. THE CLUSTER IS GONE AND THE WHOLE DRIVER DASHBOARD IS FAILING. THE GAS AND OIL GAGUES I FEAR ARE NEXT. ACCORDING TO DEALER THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM, BUT THEY HAVE NO PROBLEM CHARGING UP TO $600 TO FIX THE SITUATION. THIS IS MECHANICAL AND NOT CAUSED BY THE OWNER. THERE ARE BLOGS ALL OVER THE PLACE ON THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK WITHIN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER DOES NOT START. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC TIME, PLACE, OR EVENT THAT LEADS TO THE VEHICLE NOT STARTING EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS THE VEHICLE JUST DOESN'T START. I WILL LET THE TRUCK SIT FOR AN HOUR OR SO THEN ATTEMPT TO START IT, THEN IT DOES START. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE I WAS HAVING. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND OTHERS HAVE SUGGESTED IT COULD BE THE BATTERY, TEMPERATURE SENSOR, IGNITION SWITCH, OR STARTER. I HAVE REPLACED ALL BUT THE STARTER BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE STARTER IS GOOD SO I AM AT A LOSS AS TO WHY THE PROBLEM KEEPS OCCURRING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING, FUEL GAUGE SHOWED 1/4 TANK. AFTER PULLING TO THE SHOULDER THEN SHOWED EMPTY AND GAS LIGHT CAME ON. *TR
AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE LIKE NORMAL, STOPPED AT A GAS STATION AND WHEN IT WAS RESTARTED, THE FUEL GAUGE, OIL PRESSURE GAUGE, BATTERY GAUGE, TACHOMETER, PRETTY MUCH THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL STOPPED WORKING THEN CAME BACK ON. ALSO, INSTEAD OF READING DRIVER LIKE IT NORMALLY DOES, THE PANEL WAS READING UNKNOWN DRIVER. THEN AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE HOME, THE SPEEDOMETER WENT TO 0 AND WOULD NOT COME BACK UP. AFTER WE GOT HOME, THE NEXT DAY THE PANEL WORKED FINE. THIS HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIME SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT IN 2011. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE FORUMS AND POSTS ONLINE FROM OTHERS STATING IT IS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER THAT MAY BE THE PROBLEM AND THERE WAS A RECALL ON OTHER CHEVY MAKES BUT NOT THE TRAILBLAZER. THIS IS A VERY SCARY PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY CHEVY DUE TO THE NUMEROUS OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. *JB
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPARE TIRE HOIST HAD MALFUNCTIONED BY NOT RELEASING THE SPARE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO REPAIR FOR THE FAILURE, BUT THEY COULD REMOVE THE SPARE TIRE FOR HIM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 65,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE PASSENGER SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKS. ONCE MANIFOLD CRACKS EXHAUST FUMES MAKE THERE WAY INTO THE CABIN OF THE CAR. ALSO THE EXTRA HEAT CAUSES WIRES TO MELT AND COULD BE A POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. AFTER RESEARCHING THE FAILED PART I HAVE REALIZED IT IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TRAILBLAZERS AND GM HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT THIS FAILING PART
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE LOCAL MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE THEY FOUND THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE FUEL PUMP LINER WAS MADE WITH DEFECTIVE METAL THAT CAUSED THE FUEL PUMP TO CORRODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,943.
TACHOMETER QUIT WORKING FIRST, THEN SPEEDOMETER. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. DEALERSHIP PREVIOUSLY INDICATED IT WILL COST ABOUT $1,000 TO FIX. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS BUT THERE IS NO BULLETIN OR RECALL ON THIS SO GM REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING. A SPEEDOMETER SHOULD NO GO OUT ON A CAR, NO MATTER HOW MANY MILES AND IF IT IS NOT AN ISOLATED INSTANCE, THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. WHY IS THERE A RECALL ON OTHER GM MODELS BUT NOT THE TRAILBLAZER? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON, HE ATTEMPTED TO TURN THEM OFF. THE WIPERS WOULD NOT TURN OFF UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE WIPERS WERE STILL ON. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V046000 (VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,700.
2003 TRAILBLAZER DEVELOPED A TICKING WHEN IT WAS COLD ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER IT WAS PURCHASED IN 2002. DEALER SAID IT WAS NORMAL AND NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. NOW THE RADIATOR FAN CLUTCH IS OUT AND A DEALER WANTS 790 DOLLARS TO FIX IT . WE HAVE 59000 MILES ON IT NOW. I THINK EVERYONE HAS HAD TROUBLE WITH THESE AND THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED. ALSO THE FRONT STABILIZER BAR LINKS FAILED ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND WE HAD TO PUT NEW ONES ON. AND THE POWER SEAT MECHANISM BROKE ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO.
TEMPERATURE GAUGE READS HIGHER THAN IT SHOULD AND GAS GAUGE FLUCTUATES. *TR
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT PERIODICALLY WILL NOT START, LOSE ALL POWER, KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION WITHOUT ABILITY TO RETURN IGNITION TO OFF POSITION. THERE IS A SOUND (LIKE A HIGH VOLTAGE SOUND COMING FROM A TRANSFORMER) AND EVENTUALLY RESETS ITSELF, UNTIL 2 DAYS AGO. IT WOULD NOT RESET ITSELF, RESULTING IN IT BEING TOWED TO A REPAIR CENTER. THEY INDICATED IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY AND AFTER CHANGING BOTH, THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THE HIGH VOLTAGE SOUND HAS RETURNED. THERE ARE TIMES THE REAR WIPER WILL TURN ON WITHOUT MY TOUCHING ANYTHING AND TIMES WHERE THE RPM GAGE WILL GET STUCK.
WAS PREVIOUSLY CONTACTED BY AN "[XXX]" FROM WASHINGTON, DC TO RETRIEVE THE POWER WINDOW MODULE THAT HAD CAUGHT FIRE. I WAS GOING TO TURN THE PART OVER TO NHTSA. I AM IN DC AT THE US POSTAL SERVICE HQ ON MON/WED/TH. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN THE MONTH OF OCTOBER/2002, I DIDN'T EXPERIENCE ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL MAYBE THE FOURTH YEAR, GOING ON ITS 5TH; RIGHT BEFORE THE WARRANTY WAS ABOUT TO EXPIRE. THE FIRST PROBLEM I ENCOUNTERED WITH THE VEHICLE WAS THE TRANSMISSION. IT DIDN'T WANT TO CHANGE GEARS PROPERLY. BECAUSE OF THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY, THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO FIX THAT PROBLEM, AT THAT TIME. TODAY, I CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS: WITH A LOUD NOISE, A STRUGGLE IN HORSE POWER AND A VIBRATION WHEN I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON OTHER ELECTRICAL PARTS AS WELL. I HAVE PURCHASED OVER TEN LIGHT BULBS FOR REAR BRAKE LIGHTS THAT CONTINUE TO MALFUNCTION. I RECENTLY REPLACED A RELAY BECAUSE THE HEAD LIGHTS WOULD CONSTANTLY GO OUT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON. I REPLACED THE FAN CLUTCH AND WATER PUMP BECAUSE THEY BOTH WENT OUT. I ALSO REPLACED A BATTERY AND TWO STARTERS. FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS, MY VEHICLE SMELLS LIKE FUEL EVERYTIME I TURN IT ON. I AM ASKING THAT YOUR DEPARTMENT LOOK INTO ALL OF THESE CLAIMS. IT APPEARS THAT ALMOST EVERYONE THAT OWES A 2003 TRAILBLAZER HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES, BUT YET; NO ONE IS DOING ENOUGH TO PROTECT ALL THOSE CONSUMERS WHO HAVE BEEN GRATEFUL TO THIS COUNTRY IN PURCHASING AMERICAN MADE VEHICLES. THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT HOUSING OVER THE REAR HATCH TOTALLY BROKE OFF WHICH I HAVE NOTICED ON NUMEROUS SIMILAR VEHICLES. NOW CHEVROLET IS CHARGING ALMOST $300.00 FOR A REPLACEMENT . IVE NOTICED TOO MANY VEHICLES OF THE SAME MODEL WITH EITHER COMPLETELY MISSING THIRD BRAKE LIGHT HOUSEINGS OR A TAPED UP REPAIR.

LOW BEAMS INTERMENTLY GO OFF AND ON ! EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS CRACKED CAUSING A LEAK ! ALL DASH GAUGES BUT FUEL GAUGE DONT WORK !
WHILE CHANGING LANES ON THE FREEWAY, MY TAILGATE WINDOW SHATTERED ON MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER EXT. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS OF THIS EVENT. THERE WERE NO CHIPS IN THE GLASS, THE ROAD WAS SMOOTH. SINCE THE GLASS HAS SHATTERED THE TAILGATE LOCK MECHANISM IS NOW MALFUNCTIONING AS WELL. *TR
WIPERS POWER ON WITHOUT ME TURNING ON THE SWITCH. I CAN NOT TURN THEM OFF. CAN NOT DEFUSE THEM EITHER BY REMOVING FUSES. SOMETIMES THEY WILL NOT COME ON AND I CAN ONLY GET THEM TO TURN ON HIGH. NO WASHER FLUID POWER EITHER. SEARCHED THE RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE AND APPARENTLY MY VIN ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT ALREADY HAD A RECALL ISSUED IN 2004. THAT RECALL STATES THE SAME ISSUES THAT I'M HAVING. RECALL: 2002 - 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V046000. MY TRAILBLAZER IS A 2003 BUT WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER THEY STATED THAT MY VIN ISN'T COVERED. WHAT GIVES? *TR
I NOTICED A STRONG FUEL ODOR COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. I RESEARCHED THE MANUFACTURERS TSB'S AND DISCOVERED THERE WERE TWO VOLUNTARY RECALL CAMPAIGNS THAT HAD FUEL ODOR SYMPTOMS. I INSPECTED THE COMPONENTS AND FOUND I HAD BOTH ISSUES, RUSTED FEED AND RETURN LINES ON THE FUEL PUMP AND A FRACTURED FILLER NECK ON THE TANK. GM EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS AND 150000 MILES ON ONE ISSUE AND 10 YEARS AND 120000 MILES ON THE OTHER. I CURRENTLY HAVE 158000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. MY ISSUE IS WITH THE VOLUNTARY RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED. THEY CLEARLY STATE THAT IF THERE IS NO FUEL ODOR PRESENT THEN DO NOTHING AT THIS TIME. IF I HAD GONE IN FOR INSPECTION AT THE TIME THE NOTICES WERE SENT OUT, I WOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER THE MILEAGE CAP AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN A FULL BLOWN SAFETY RECALL. A VOLUNTARY RECALL IS JUST A WAY TO SKIRT THE ISSUE AND SAVE A BUCK. HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE THERE LIKE ME WHO WILL NOT FIND A PROBLEM UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE. AND IT IS TOO LATE BY THE TIME YOU CAN SMELL A FUEL ODOR, THAT MEANS THERE IS RAW FUEL ESCAPING FROM YOUR TANK. NOW I HAVE HAD TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AT MY SUBSTANTIAL EXPENSE.
POWER WINDOW CONTROL ON THE PASSENGER DOOR STARTED ON FIRE AND MELTED SOME OF THE DOOR PANEL AND WINDOW CONTROL MODULE AND WIRING HARNESS. THE VEHICLE HAS THE HEATED SEAT BUTTONS ON THE WINDOW CONTROL MODULE. (P/N 15096223). THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE (NO KEYS IN IGNITION) WHEN THE WINDOW STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN BY ITSELF AND SMOKE STARTED FLOWING OUT. COMPLETELY MELTED THE FRONT 4PIN CONNECTER AND WIRING HARNESS I STILL HAVE THE MELTED PART IF NEEDED FOR ANYTHING. I FOUND IT INTERESTING THAT YOU HAVE NOW OPENED UP AN INVESTIGATION ON 2006-2007 MODELS ON THE DRIVERS DOOR. I HAD DID A FEW INTERNET SEARCHES LOOKING FOR RECALLS OR SUCH. DID FIND A COUPLE POST WHERE SIMILAR THINGS HAD HAPPENED TO OTHERS WHERE OTHERS HAD STATED HAVING TO DO WITH WATER COMING IN THE WINDOW AND SHORTING THE SWITCH (IF THIS HELPS) THANKS *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL RISE AND FALL ERRATICALLY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. UPON INTERNET RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM TRUCK AND SUV MODELS IN THE YEARS 2003-2006. TRAILBLAZER IS THE ONLY MODEL THAT GM HAS NOT COVERED IN A RECALL FOR THIS PART MALFUNCTION. HOW CAN IT BE SAFE TO DRIVE AND NOT KNOW WHAT SPEED I AM TRAVELING AT? I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH CHEVROLET TOMORROW. THEY WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM UNTIL THEIR TECHNICIAN CAN DIAGNOSIS IT...AND CHARGE ME AN EXTRA $99.00, EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM HAS ALL READY BEEN DIAGNOSED BY CERTIFIED, EXPERIENCED MECHANIC. AT THE TIME THIS FIRST OCCURRED, THE SPEEDOMETER REGISTERED 115 MPH; MY HUSBAND ESTIMATES HE WAS DRIVING 25-30MPH. *TR

TIRE BLOWOUT AND DISINTEGRATION ON AMERICAN PROSPECTOR SUV 245-65-R17. TIRE HAD LESS THAN 3000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS SIMILAR TO AN EARLIER RECALL OF A DIFFERENT SIZE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ENGAGED INTERMITTENTLY, THEN SUDDENLY THEY BEGAN TO FUNCTION IN SLOW MOTION. NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V046000 (VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER) WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT SMELLED A FUEL ODOR AND NOTICED FUEL SPILLING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE STEEL AIR BOLTS FROM THE FUEL PUMP WERE COVERED WITH RUST. MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MALFUNCTIONS ON A REGULAR BASIS. THE SPEEDOMETER TACHOMETER AND GAS GAUGE ALL GO CRAZY AND REGISTER INFORMATION THAT IS NO WHERE NEAR ACCURATE. THE SPEEDOMETER SAYS 60 WHEN SITTING STILL, AND GAS GAUGE NEEDLE IS AT 5:00 WHEN THERE IS A HALF TANK. IF YOU START THE VEHICLE AND QUICKLY TURN IT OFF ENOUGH TIMES, THE GAUGES WILL EVENTUALLY GET BACK TO NORMAL FOR A FEW MILES,. THEN GO BACK TO STRANGE NUMBERS AND PROCESS HAS TO BEGIN ALL OVER AGAIN, DON'T KNOW IF THE TEMP GAUGE IS ACCURATE OR NOT. *TR

SAFETY ISSUE!!!! I OWN A 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED ACTING UP A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND GOT WORSE THIS MONTH. SOMETIMES THE NEEDLE STARTS AT 50 OR 70 MPH INSTEAD OF 0 AND MOVES UP FROM THERE. IT WILL SAY THAT I AM DOING OVER 120 MPH WHEN I AM ONLY GOING ABOUT 45. OTHER TIMES IT WILL STAY ON ONE NUMBER AT NOT MOVE AT ALL. TWO WEEKS AGO I TURNED ON MY CAR AND THE NEEDLE WAS POINTING STRAIGHT DOWN TO THE ODOMETER. I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND THAT DID NOT HELP. WE UNPLUGGED THE BATTERY FOR 30 MIN AND IT REST EVERYTHING. TWO DAYS LATER I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS AGAIN. WE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON LINE ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT A VERY LARGE NUMBER OF TRAILBLAZERS WERE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND THAT WE NEEDED TO CALL GM. I DID. THE PART HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED EVEN THOUGH THE PERSON I TALKED TO KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS 5 MIN INTO OUR CONVERSATION. SHE TOLD ME I HAD TO TAKE MY TRAILBLAZER TOT HE DEALERSHIP TO CONFIRM. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE GUY I TALKED TO ALSO KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS IN LESS THAN 5 MIN. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND CONTINUED TO BE IN CONTACT WITH CHEVY TO SEEK FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. I WAS TRANSFERRED UP TO THE NEXT STEP WHERE A VERY RUDE MAN DENIED MY CLAIM BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE ON MY CAR. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE ENTIRE THING AND THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH THE PARTS THAT THEY TOOK OFF MY CAR. THE SERVICE GUY A THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEIR WAS A CORE CHARGE ON MY PART SO HE HAD TO SEND IT INTO CHEVY SO THEY COULD REBUILD IT. NOT KNOWING HOW FAST I WAS GOING AND KNOWING THAT MY OTHER GAUGES WERE GOING TO FAIL AS WELL (SINCE THEY ARE ALL CONNECTED TO THE CLUSTER) IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME. MY 2003 TRAILBLAZER EXT. WOULD NOT START TODAY, ALL DASH LIGHTS COME ON BUT GAS AND VOLTAGE GAUGE DON'T REGISTER. THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED SINCE THE INSURANCE COMPANY DEEMED THE VEHICLE AS BEING DESTROYED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. I HAVE A FUEL LINE LEAK AND MY HUSBAND GOT ON-LINE AND SAW THAT THERE IS POSSIBLY GOING TO BE A RECALL. I CALLED CHEVY AND THE GUY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF "SPECIAL COVERAGE" FOR THIS. HE ASKED ME MY MILEAGE AND THE VIN NUMBER THEN PUT ME ON HOLD. THEN HE CAME BACK ON LINE AND TOLD ME THAT MY TRAILBLAZER WAS 10,000 MILES OVER THE LIMIT FOR THE COVERAGE. I THINK THIS IS RIDICULOUS. IT'S ONLY 7 YRS. OLD AND I DON'T THINK THAT MILEAGE SHOULD HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT. IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD AND I HAVE 3 CHILDREN THAT ARE PASSENGERS IN THIS VEHICLE. CONTINUING FAILURE OF REAR LIGHTING (BACK-UP, BRAKE, DRIVING, AND TURN). TYPICALLY, I HAVE TO REPLACE A BULB ABOUT EVERY 6 WEEKS, AND THE ENTIRE LEFT ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. BULBS AND SOCKETS MELT UNTIL THEY ARE INOPERABLE. FRONT HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT WORK, AND ARE WIRES ARE BURNT, AIR AND HEATER WILL ONLY BLOW ON THE FLOOR SETTING EVEN IF PUT ON A DIFFERENT SETTING, WHEN YOU TURN AC ON THE BACK WINDSHIELD WIPER COMES ON. WHEN STARTING THE CAR THERE IS A LOUD CLICKING THAT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING FROM THE DASH. IF STOPPED JUST FOR A FEW SECONDS WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THE TEMP WILL GO FROM NORMAL TO 260! AS LONG AS YOU ARE GOING AT LEAST FAST ENOUGH TO PUSH AIR THROUGH THE GRILL IT WON'T RUN HOT, BUT IF YOU ARE IN TOWN AND TRAFFIC IT WILL RUN HOT AND WILL NOT COOL OFF UNLESS YOU EITHER STOP AND LET IT COOL OFF OR GET TO WHERE YOU CAN GO FAST ENOUGH TO PUSH THE AIR! THE CAR WILL LOCK WHILE IT IS RUNNING AND IN PARK. IT WILL LOCK AND THE KEYLESS REMOTE WILL NOT OPEN IT. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES I HAVE PUSHED BRAKE IN AND THE ALARM SYSTEM WOULD GO OFF. WHEN STOPPING AT A STOP LIGHT OR SLOWING DOWN THE CAR WILL TRY TO DIE AND AT TIMES HAD ACTUALLY DIED FOR NO REASON. I BELIEVE THERE IS A MAJOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE 2003 TRAILBLAZERS AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT. THIS IS NOT SAFE AND SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED! TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE ENGINE REMAINED ON, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE CONTACT TRIED MOVING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AS WELL WITH AND IT FAILED TO ACCELERATE IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR FACILITY AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE PROBLEM CAME FROM A BEARING IN THE TRANSFER CASE THAT WAS TOO SMALL AND IT HAD BEGAN TO WEAR DOWN. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE TRANSFER CASE TO BECOME STUCK IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
I PURCHASED A 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER ONE YEAR AGO WITH 63K MILES. AT 85K MILES, THE SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING. MOST OFTEN, THE VEHICLE DEFECT OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN CRUISE CONTROL MODE. HOWEVER, ONCE CRUISE CONTROL IS TURNED OFF, THE DEFECT PERSISTS. EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS COMPLETELY TURNED OFF, WITH THE KEY REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, THEN RESTARTED, THE DEFECT PERSISTS. THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF SITUATIONS WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS: 1) THE SPEEDOMETER REGISTERS A SPEED, BUT IT IS ROUGHLY 15MPH LESS THAN THE VEHICLES ACTUAL SPEED. THIS, OF COURSE, IS QUITE DANGEROUS IF THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT THE DEFECT, FOR EXAMPLE, IF IT IS HAPPENING FOR THE FIRST TIME. IT CAN BE COSTLY TO THE POCKETBOOK, DRIVING RECORD, AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY. 2) THE CAR IS DRIVING, BUT THE SPEEDOMETER REGISTERS 0MPH. WHEN I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM, I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. I HAVE A GPS FEATURE THAT ALLOWS ME TO DETECT SPEED (THANKFULLY) AND ACCELERATED TO 80PMH FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME, BUT THE SPEEDOMETER STILL REGISTERED 0MPH. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I REALIZED THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM, NOT JUST WITH CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS, BUT WITH A WHOLE HOST OF OTHER GM VEHICLES. ADDITIONALLY, THOSE MAKING REPORTS CLAIMED THEY HAD SOUGHT OTHER OUTLETS OF REPAIR, MANY OF THEM COSTLY, ALL OF THEM TO NO AVAIL. EACH CUSTOMER COMPLAINED THAT GM WAS IN NO WAY HELPFUL AND HAD NO INTENTION OF RECALLING VEHICLES, DESPITE THE FACT THAT THIS IS A COMMON AND DANGEROUS DEFECT. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THERE WAS A SMALL SETTLEMENT CONCERNING THE ISSUE, THUS SUGGESTING THAT GM ACKNOWLEDGES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECT. HOWEVER, THE SETTLEMENT ONLY COVERS A SMALL NUMBER OF VEHICLES, AND TO DATE, NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE PERSONALLY CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND AM AWAITING A REPLY.
