2004 TRAILBLAZER WHEN STOPPING DOORS AND WINDOWS WON,T OPEN AT TIMES,EVEN WHEN PUSHING UNLOCK BUTTON.TRAPPED INSIDE. STOPPING AND STARTING ENGINES SEEMS TO FINALLY UNLOCK DOORS,CARRYING HAMMER TO BUST OUT WINDOWS IN CASE OF EMERGENCY FIRE ECT.REPAIR OF ELECTRIAL EQUIMENT BY MAHER ST PETE FL. NOW OK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP, BUT STILL RUNNING. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HAD SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED. HE TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND NOTICED THAT NEITHER THE WINDOWS NOR DOORS WOULD NOT UNLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 47,717. UPDATED 7/16/10 *CN AT ONE POINT THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO OPEN ANY OF THE DOORS AND HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY OFF. ONCE HE TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON, EVERYTHING OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. UPDATED 07/21/10*JB
2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PROBLEMS. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 70K MILES. GAUGES FREQUENTLY READ INCORRECT READINGS. THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE HAS TAKEN A DEEP DIVE AND HAS PEGGED OUT AS FAR AS IT CAN GO AND DOES NOT MOVE NOW. MOST INSTRUMENT BACKLIGHTS HAVE BURNED OUT PREVENTING THE SPEEDOMETER AND OTHER GAUGES FROM BEING SEEN AT NIGHT. VERY DANGEROUS. QUICK SEARCH ON INTERNET RESULTS IN A SEVERE EPIDEMIC OF THIS PROBLEM WITH ALL GM SUV'S. A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT RESULTED IN A NATIONWIDE RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR ALL SIMILAR VEHICLES BUT NOT THE CHEVY TRAILBLAZER OR GMC ENVOY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A CRIMINAL ACT BY GM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO PROTECT OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES. *TR
I JUST BOUGHT A USED '04 TRAILBLAZER WITH 63000 MILES AND THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY...THE NEEDLE IS JUST POINTING SOUTH! *CN
CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD . NOTHING CAUSED THIS EVENT , IT JUST FAILED OUT OF NOWHERE, NOW IT HAS TO BE REPLACED , THIS IS AN UNCOMMON EVENT FOR THIS PARTICULAR PART TO JUST CRACK OR FAIL , AND AFTER READING RESEARCHING THIS EVENT I FOUND IT TO BE MORE COMMONPLACE IN THIS FROM THIS PARTICULAR CAR MANUFACTURER. THE FUMES FROM THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS THE SAFETY ISSUE , NOT TO MENTION THE UNBEARABLE NOISE. *TR
TACHOMETER AND SPEEDOMETER STARTED INTERMITTANTLY FAILING. UNIT IS FAILED MORE OFTEN THAN IT WORKS. UNIT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THIS TIME.
1. THERE IS NO EVENT THAT LED TO THE FAILURE, RATHER IT IS A CRACK AT THE GAS TANK NECK, WHICH IS COVERED ON DOCUMENT 07099A FOR THE CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EXT, HOWEVER I HAVE THE TRAILBLAZER LT WHICH SUFFERS FROM THE SAME SYMPTOMS. 2. AS IT IS A CRACK THERE IS FUEL LEAKING AS WELL AS FUMES INTO THE VEHICLE CABIN. 3. GM DOES NOT WANT TO COVER THE COST TO FIX THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL TANK AND LABOR AS COVERED FOR THE TRAILBLAZER EXT. *TR
WAS DRIVING AND MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED ACTING UP....GIVING WRONG READINGS AND SAYING I WAS GOING 80 MPH WHEN I WAS STOPPED ALL TOGETHER. NO IT IS PERMANENTLY STUCK ON MY 2004 TRAILBLAZER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING THE CONTACT OBSERVED THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED. THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED INACCURATE READINGS AT ANY GIVEN SPEED RATE. IN ADDITION, THE OTHER GAUGES WERE NONFUNCTIONAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS REPLACED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,700. MY 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WILL NOT ACCEPT GASOLINE. I HAD A 1/4 TANK LEFT AND WENT TO A GAS STATION. TO MY SURPRISE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT LET ME FILL THE TANK. I WAS FIRST TOLD THAT THE VENT MIGHT BE DIRTY THEN A CYLINDER IN THE GAS TANKS SYSTEM MIGHT HAVE FAILED. THE MECHANIC FOUND A BULLETIN THAT SAID I HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK FILLER UPPER PIPE AND LOWER HOSE BECAUSE OF VAPORS FILLING UP INSIDE. I PAID FOR GAS THAT ENDED UP ALL OVER THE GROUND INSTEAD OF IN MY TANK. I CALLED THE DEALER TO FIND OUT THAT A BULLETIN IS DIFFERENT THEN A RECALL SO THEY WERE NOT ENTITLED TO PAY FOR IT. I PURCHASED IN 2009 AND GM KNOWS ABOUT IT BUT WILL NOT RECALL IT. WHAT IF IT EXPLODES IN THE GAS STATION FROM THE VAPORS. WHO'S FAULT WOULD IT BE THEN. I HAD NO IDEA AND WOULD NEVER BUY A CHEVY AGAIN. FIRST I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON WHEN THE GAS CAP WAS NOT PUT BACK ON RIGHT AND NOW I CAN'T EVEN GET GAS. WHAT GOOD IS A VEHICLE IF YOU CAN'T USE IT. I AM STILL PAYING FOR IT. AS SOON AS IT PAID FOR I WILL BE TRADING IT IN. THE DEALER GAVE ME A SMO ABOUT A 3 YEAR 36,000 MILE WARRANTY. WHEN I BOUGHT IT HAD 62,500 MILES ALREADY ON IT. WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR SOMETHING THEY KNEW WAS A PROBLEM BUT WON'T RECALL. PLEASE RECALL THIS VEHICLE. IN READING THE BULLETINS FOR THIS VEHICLE I FOUND THAT THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, THE AIR BAGS, THE FUEL SYSTEM, THE TRANSMISSION, SPEEDOMETER, ETC. HOW MANY PROBLEMS DO YOU NEED FOR ONE VEHICLE OR ARE THEY WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO GET KILLED OVER IT. THE BULLETIN SAYS THAT A SMALL AMOUNT OF FUEL MAY SPIT BACK OUT. WELL THAT IS A LIE. ALL THE FUEL IN THE 1/4 TANK SPILLED OUT ON THE GROUND AND I PAID FOR THE GAS I COULD NOT GET IN THE TANK. GM IS NO HELP, DEALER IS NO HELP. THE ONLY ONE THAT WAS STRAIGHT UP WITH ME WAS THE MECHANIC. I AM GOING TO HATE TO SEE THE BILL FOR THIS ONE. MY TAX DOLLARS AT WORK. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS ON THE WEB AND THEIR ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS VERY ISSUE. I HAVE A 2004 TRAIL BLAZER. MY ODOMETER AND SPEEDOMETER START TO SLOW DOWN AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU LOOK UP AND I AM GOING NEGATIVE RPMS AND NEGATIVE MPH WHILE CRUISING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. OR THE NEXT TIME IT WILL GO FAST THAN I AM TRAVELING. EACH MORNING THOUGH IT STARTS OUT WORKING CORRECTLY, THEN AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR IT GOES OFF AGAIN. MY SPEEDOMETER AND RPM DIAL HAVE STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. I CALLED THE 800 NUMBER AND THE LADY TOLD ME THAT I AM NOT COVERED FOR THEIR SPECIAL PROVISIONING FOR THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. THAT THEIR SPECIAL PROVISIONING ONLY COVERS VEHICLES 7YRS/70K MILEAGE. I HAVE OVER 90K MILES AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO COVER ME. I CAN?T AFFORD TO PAY FOR THIS TO BE FIXED. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHEVY CAR I CAN?T BELIEVE THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. HEADLIGHTS TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING TAILLIGHTS BURNS OUT AT LEASE ONCE A MONTH (BLINKERS, BRAKES ETC) INTERIOR LIGHTS COMES ON AND OFF AT TIMES. *TR
I'VE HAD ISSUES WITH THE ODOMETER, GAS AND BATTERY GAUGES FOR ABOUT A YEAR. HOWEVER, NOW THE ODOMETER DROPS AND THE CAR STALLS AND SHUTS OFF WHEN I GO TO SLOW DOWN. THE CHECK GAUGES LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF FOR A SECOND. NO OTHER LIGHTS ARE ON SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS IS. CAR HAS ABOUT 75,000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TACHOMETER BEGAN MOVING ERRATICALLY WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH AND THEN IT STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE DASHBOARD CLUSTER ASSEMBLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17008 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17185.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER FAILED. THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY OPERATE YET THE SPEEDOMETER, BATTERY INDICATOR, AND TACHOMETER HAD COMPLETELY FAILED. THE TACHOMETER REMAINED STUCK AT 1500 RPMS. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH REPAIRS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO LOCATE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE PERTAINING TO THE FAILURE FOR HER YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 87,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS UNKNOWN. UPDATED 10/05/10. *LJ
SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WAS ON AFTER COMPLETING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AT A LOCAL DEALER THEY SAID THE MALFUNCTION WAS THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION(AIR PUMP) CODE P0410. THEY SAID THE REASON THESE GO OUT IS BECAUSE OF AN ENGINEERING DEFECT AND THE WAY THEY ROUTED THE HOSES INSTEAD OF AIR FLOWING THROUGH IT CAUSES WATER TO ACCUMULATE THEREFORE MAKING THE MOTOR IN THE AIR PUMP TO GO BAD. SO WHILE CHANGING OUT THIS BAD AIR PUMP THERE WAS SO MUCH WATER THAT HAD ACCUMULATED IT ACTUALLY CAUSED THE LIGHT TO BLOW WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED THE MECHANIC TO BE ELECTROCUTED! *TR

I HAVE A 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. MY SISTER IN LAW HAS A 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. MY RPM DIAL ENT CRAZY A YEAR AGO AND NOW MY SPEEDOMETER IS OUT. I HAVE 82000 MILES ON IT. CHEVY REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR OF $500. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE FOUND MANY WEBSITES. THIS IS AND HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM. WE NEED A RECALL. THIS IS FOR TRAILBLAZERS WITH THE YEARS OF 2003-2005. I AM NOT GETTING MY PROBLEM FIXED AND I AM SURE THERE ARE MANY OTHER INSTRUMENT CLUSTERS THAT DO NOT WORK ON THE HIGHWAY. GM LOST A LAWSUIT FOR THE EXACT SAME YEAR VEHICLES FROM 2003-2005 FOR THE SUBURBAN, TRUCKS, TAHOES ETC. I OWN A 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER THAT I PURCHASED NEW IN 2004. IN 2007, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION EXHIBITING ERRATIC FUNCTION. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS REPLACED UNDER THE WARRANTY. NOW, HERE IT IS, 2/2010 AND THE CLUSTER IS DOING THE VERY SAME THING THE ORIGINAL DEFECTIVE CLUSTER WAS DOING. I HAVE GONE ONLINE AND READ WHERE MANY, MANY OWNERS OF CHEVY PRODUCTS FROM 2003 ON ARE HAVING THESE COMPARABLE ISSUES AND THAT CHEVY HAS SOME SORT OF EXTENDED WARRANTY THEY ARE OFFERING FOR MANY GM PRODUCTS WITH THESE DEFECTIVE CLUSTERS. I AM DISGUSTED BY THE FACT THAT, FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ONLINE, TRAILBLAZER OWNERS HAVE BEEN EXCLUDED FROM THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO AN INADEQUATE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS NECESSARY TO WARRANT COVERAGE. IT IS A KNOWN FACT THAT THE TRAILBLAZER HAS THE IDENTICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AS THE OTHER GM PRODUCTS COVERED IN THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY. AT THIS POINT, I AM ADDING MYSELF TO WHAT I'M SURE IS A GROWING NUMBER OF UNHAPPY GM OWNERS COMING TO YOU IN HOPES THAT GM WILL BE MADE HELD RESPONSIBLE TO REPLACE A THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. *TR
WHILE USING CRUISE CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE SPEEDOMETER ERRATICALLY INCREASES. BRAKING TO A STOP DOES NOT TAKE THE SPEEDOMETER TO ZERO. TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING SOMETIMES PUTS THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE TO ZERO IN FIVE MILE INCREMENTS WITH EACH CYCLE. PROBLEM IS RECURRING. VEHICLE IS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A "CLUSTER" PROBLEM IS DIAGNOSED WITH ESTIMATED COST TO BE AROUND $500. INTERNET RESEARCH REVEALS THIS TO BE MORE THAN A SPORADIC PROBLEM RESULTING IN THE MANUFACTURER RECALLING A NUMBER OF VEHICLE MODELS BUT NOT THE TRAILBLAZER. A CALL TO GM'S CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT CULMINATES ONLY WITH A FORMAL COMPLAINT BEING REGISTERED ... THIS TOO BEING THE COMMON END FOR OWNERS OF TRAILBLAZERS (ACCORDING TO INTERNET RESEARCH) THE PROBLEM IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD AS WHEN THIS OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING ONE HAS TO GAUGE DRIVING SPEED BY SURROUNDING TRAFFIC. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER INCREASED FROM 70 MPH TO 120 MPH. ALTHOUGH THE SPEEDOMETER READ 120 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TRAVELING AT THAT SPEED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER REGARDING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THEY STATED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAS REVIEWED CONCERNS REGARDING THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR HIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL AND SINCE THERE WAS A RELATED RECALL, THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. WHILE STOPPED BEHIND A TRUCK AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, MY 2004 CHEVY TRAIL BLAZER STARTED MOVING FORWARD WHILE MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP AND COLLIDED IN THE REAR OF THE TRUCK JUST AHEAD OF ME WHILE STOPPED AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT. *TR

ON 02/05 /2010 I WAS GOING SOUTH ON 165 TO MONROE, LA IT WAS ABOUT 8:00 AT NIGHT,WHEN THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS THEN THE HEADLIGHTS JUST WENT OUT. THIS MADE ME GO INTO A PANIC. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO BECAUSE IT WAS VERY DARK. I DID MANAGE TO PULL OVER. THANKFULLY THERE WAS A GAS STATION NEAR BY. ON 2/06/2010 I TOOK TO A CHEVY DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE BE SEEING THIS PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME. BUT THEY CLOSE EARLY ON SATURDAY SO THEY COULD NOT FITS IT IN ONE DAY. SO I TOOK TO ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAVE SEEN THIS SAME PROBLEM 4 TIMES IN JAN. SO CHEVROLET HAS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS LOOKING INTO. *TR
I WAS DRVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING WHILE THE TRUCK WAS IN MOTION. IT WENT FROM 60 MPH TO THE NEEDLE GOING ALL THE WAY PAST 120 AND POINTING DOWN AT THE ODOMETER. MY SPEED DID NOT CHANGE DURING ALL THIS. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER, OIL PRESSURE GAUGE, AND TACHOMETER HAVE STOPPED WORKING ON MY 04 TRAILBLAZER. ONLY HAVE 64,000 MILES ON IT. HAVE TALKED TO MECHANICS ABOUT REPLACING. TOLD IT WOULD COST BETWEEN $400 AND $800 TO REPLACE BUT MAY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM IN THE LONG TERM--MANY TIMES REPLACED CLUSTERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. LOOK AT THE INTERNET AND YOU WILL SEE THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
THE GAUGES ON MY DAUGHTER'S 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WILL NOT REGISTER CORRECTLY. ONE DAY THEY ALL WORK, THE NEXT DAY ONLY A FEW WORK CORRECTLY. I HAVE ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM WITH THE SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING PROPERLY OR NOT WORKING AT ALL IN SOME CASES. LAST SUMMER, MY VEHICLE STARTED STUMBLING AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 50MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED SEVERAL TIMES, WITHOUT THE ISSUE BEING RESOLVED. I HAVE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED, TUNE-UP, MAP SENSOR, AIR INTAKE SENSOR, FUEL SYSTEM CLEANED, FAN CLUTCH REPLACED, STILL HAD THE STUMBLING PROBLEM. APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS AGO I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY, WHEN I HEARD THE ENGINE REV UP VERY HIGH, BUT I WASN'T GOING ANY FASTER. I THEN PRESSED ON THE GAS, THE ENGINE RACED, BUT I WAS JUST COASTING. I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF THE HIGHWAY TO THE MEDIAN, THANK GOD NOBODY WAS BEHIND ME. I ALSO THANK GOD I DIDN'T HAVE MY FAMILY WITH ME. THE MECHANIC SAID, THAT ONE OF THE GEARS INSIDE, THE TRANNY WAS BROKEN, AND THE PUMP HAD SHATTERED. I WOULD HATE TO SEE THIS HAPPEN TO SOMEONE, AND THEY CAN NOT GET OUT OF THE WAY, SOMEONE COULD GET KILLED. *TR
ALL OF MY GAUGES ON MY DASHBOARD COMPLETELY TURN OFF AND THEN RANDOMLY TURN BACK ON. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AROUND WITH NO SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAUGE, OLIL, BATTERY, TACHOMETER OR ODOMETER ON. THEN IT ALL OF A SUDDEN WILL TURN ON. IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAID IT WOULD COST AROUND $500 IF NOT MORE TO HAVE THEM TAKE APART MY DASH AND LOOK AND THEN POSSIBLY SEND IT OUT TO SEEIF IT CAN BE FI.XED THERE ARE NUMEROUS PEOPLE I HAVE FOUND ONLINE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME VEHICLE.

THE IMPROPER READINGS CAN VARY FROM 0 TO 120 MPH AND ALL OF THE SPEEDS BETWEEN. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER OR A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
TACHOMETER HAS STOPPED WORKING. FROM POSTINGS I HAVE READ, IT APPEARS THAT EVENTUALLY ALL INSTRUMENTS WILL STOP WORKING.
I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (APPROXIMATELY 65MPH) WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET, WHEN MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY RESPONDED LIKE I HAD SLAMMED THE GAS PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR. MY SPEED CLIMBED RAPIDLY, BUT I HAD THE PRESENCE OF MIND TO DROP THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL (THE TACHOMETER CONTINUED TO BE AT ITS MAXIMUM LEVEL AND THE ENGINE STILL WHINED HIGH) AND STEER TO SAFETY, ACROSS SEVERAL LANES OF TRAFFIC, TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE. WHEN I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AGAIN, THIS ISSUE WAS NO LONGER PRESENT. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 CHEVY EXTENDED TRAILBLAZER WITH 84,000 MILES. MY SPEEDOMETER IS STUCK AT 90 MPH. I UNDERSTAND IT IS NOT A RECALL ISSUE AND THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. ON JANUARY 25, 2010, THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE DEALER ON JANUARY 28. THEY SAID THERE WAS A CRACK WHERE THE FILLER TUBE ATTACHES TO THE FUEL TANK, AND THE ENTIRE TANK/FILLER TUBE ASSY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED, AT A COST OF OVER $1300. THREE MECHANICS AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS IS A VERY COMMON FAILURE, THEY HAVE SEEN IT MANY TIMES. THEY SAID I COULD LOOK FOR A USED TANK TO SAVE MONEY ON THE REPAIR, BUT THEY DID NOT RECOMMEND IT BECAUSE "ALL THOSE TANKS FAIL." I DID SOME CHECKING ON LINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS INDEED A COMMON FAILURE. I CALLED THE GM CONSUMER HELP LINE AND ASKED FOR SOME HELP ON THE REPAIR COST, SINCE THIS IS APPARENTLY A DESIGN FLAW AND A COMMON FAILURE. THE ASSIGNED ME SERVICE REQUEST, BUT A FEW DAYS LATER CALLED BACK AND SAID THAT GM WOULD NOT HELP OUT ON THE REPAIR COST. MY CAR IS A 2004 TRAILBLAZER WITH 67,500 MILES, AND THUS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT I BELIEVE GM SHOULD STILL BE AT LEAST PARTIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR A COMMON FAILURE. *TW *TR
2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER THAT HAS INTERMITTENT LIGHTS GOING OUT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, SPEEDOMETER HAS STOPPED WORKING AND GAUGES ON PANEL ONLY WORK OCCASIONALLY. 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS INSTRUMENT PANEL ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY. THE RPM GAUGE FLUCTUATES AND OFTEN DOESN'T WORK WHICH SEEMS TO CAUSE THE SPEEDOMETER TO RESPOND SLOWLY. I HAVE HEARD FROM OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE THAT EVENTUALLY THE SPEEDOMETER WILL QUIT AS WILL THE GAS GAUGE, OIL GAUGE, ETC. THIS IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD THAT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED BY CHEVY. OTHER MODELS OF THE SAME YEAR HAVE BEEN RECALLED, BUT NOT THE TRAILBLAZER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS NO LONGER WORKING PROPERLY. HE STATED THAT HE COULD NO LONGER TELL WHAT SPEED THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING. THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED FOR ALMOST A YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 79,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
ALL GAUGES ARE RANDOMLY FAILING, BUT EVEN WHEN WORKING THEY DO NOT READ PROPERLY. THE SPEEDOMETER WILL READ ALL OVER THE PLACE AND NOT MOVE AND THEN AT TIMES APPEAR TO WORK, BUT THANKS TO A GPS IN THE CAR I NOTICED IT WAS SHOWING 10 TO 20 MPH OFF ON THE LOW SIDE. *TR
