TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BECAME INOPERABLE AND HE WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH GASOLINE WAS IN THE VEHICLE OR HOW FAST AND SLOW IT WAS TRAVELING. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO REPLACE THE CLUSTER PANEL AT HIS OWN EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I BOUGHT MY 2004 TRAILBLAZER EXT 7 MONTHS AGO EVERYTHING WAS WORKING FINE FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS UNTIL MY TACHOMETER GOT STUCK IN A DOWNWARD POSITION LAST WEEKEND I RAN OUT OF GAS EVEN THOUGH THE METER DISPLAYED 1/2 TANK FULL. I'VE TALKED TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO SEND THE PANEL TO GM PLUS 300 DOLLARS TO GET REPAIRED AND I CANT DRIVE MY VEHICLE UNTIL THE PANEL IS RETURNED BECAUSE THE MILEAGE HAS TO STAY THE SAME. IF THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WHY CANT GM COME UP WITH A SOLUTION INSTEAD OF JUST TAKING PEOPLE MONEY WITH ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS. *TR
2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER SPEED CLUSTER PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER; WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY; ALL GAUGES, LIGHTS, ETC. ABRUPTLY STOPPED WORKING AND CONTINUE TO NOT WORK. I RESEARCHED ON LINE AND FOUND IT COULD BE WHAT IS CALLED THE "CLUSTER BOARD". I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A LOCAL CHEVY DEALER IN DAYTONA BEACH FL. THEY INSISTED IT WAS THE IGNITION SWITCH. THEY REPLACED THAT MECHANISM FOR JUST UNDER $300. THE FOLLOWING WEEK (THIS OCCURRED IN 2010); THE EXACT SAME SITUATION RECURRED; SO I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY THEN AGREED IT WAS THE CLUSTER BOARD WHICH WOULD NOW COST ME CLOSE TO $700.00. IN ORDER TO AVOID BEING RIPPED OFF TO THE TUNE OF ALMOST $1K; I PURCHASED A GPS UNIT SO I COULD AT LEAST MONITOR MY SPEED. THE SPEED/RPMS NEVER REGISTER CORRECTLY; HOWEVER, SO FAR THE OTHER GAUGES SEEMS TO BE OK (EXCEPT FOR THE OIL PRESSURE, IT GOES OUT OF WHACK FREQUENTLY SO I JUST BRING IT IN QUICKLY TO MAKE SURE I HAVE SUFFICIENT OIL AND THAT IT'S CLEAR/CLEAN). MOST RECENTLY MY HEADLIGHTS JUST GO OUT WITHOUT WARNING; I AM ABLE TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS, BUT OF COURSE THAT PUTS ME IN JEOPARDY OF GETTING A TICKET. THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER - I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THE CLUSTER BOARD AND THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES (LIGHTING). I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE ALL THE REPAIRS COMPLETED AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE CHEVROLET TAKE ON SOME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE COST OF THESE FLAWS IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THIS VEHICLE. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE SPEEDOMETER WAS PROVIDING A SPEED READING OF 60 MPH. THE READING OF THE OTHER GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ALSO FLUCTUATED ERRATICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. YESTERDAY MY SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE STARTED JUMPING BETWEEN NUMBERS RATHER THAN MOVING SMOOTHLY. TODAY IT STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY, IT STAYED BELOW THE 0 AND WOULDN'T REGISTER THE SPEED AT ALL. I STOPPED AT A CHEVY DEALERSHIP ON THE WAY INTO WORK AND WAS TOLD THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAD TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST OF ABOUT $400. DRIVING AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED MOVING SLOWLY (I WAS GOING AROUND 55 MPH BUT THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWED 15 - 20 MPH.) WHEN I GOT TO WORK I RAN AN INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A RECALL FOR CHEVY TRUCKS BUT NOT FOR TRAILBLAZERS. ALSO FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINT SITES WITH CONSUMERS REPORTING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE (MODEL YEAR AND MILEAGE VARIED.) OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY A RECALL FROM GM. THIS PRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD AS MOST CONSUMERS DON'T HAVE THE MONEY FOR THE REPAIR COST SO THEY AREN'T FIXING THE FAULTY SPEEDOMETERS WHICH COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER THAT HAS DEFECTIVE HEADLIGHTS. IT STARTED OVER A YEAR AGO, BUT WAS RARE. WHEN I DRIVE AT NIGHT THE LIGHTS SUDDENLY GO OUT. THE PARKING LIGHT AND THE HIGH BEAMS STILL WORK. IT HAS BEEN GETTING MORE FREQUENT AND IN THE LAST MONTH IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. MY ENGINE LIGHT HAS ALSO BEEN ON FOR MONTHS. I HAVE HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE BY A MECHANIC AND HE INFORMED ME THAT I HAD A LOOSE GAS CAP. I BOUGHT A NEW ONE AND IT HAS NOT RESOLVED THAT PROBLEM. NOW I WONDER IF IT REMAINS ON BECAUSE OF THE LIGHT ISSUE. THIS IS A PROBLEM BECAUSE I LIVE IN AN UNINCORPORATED AREA THAT HAS MINIMAL LIGHTING AT NIGHT. I HAVE LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND THERE SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THAT SAME ISSUE. *TR
ELECTRICAL - ALL GAUGES ARE NOT WORKING AND THE SPEEDOMETER QUITS WORKING WHILE DRIVING. *TR
THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STOPPED WORKING, ONLY THE TEMP GAUGE AND THE FUEL GAUGE WORKS. THE SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, OIL PRESSURE GAUGES DO NOT WORK. I BELIEVE GENERAL MOTORS NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS AS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. *KB
I HAVE A 2004 TRAILBLAZER LT WITH 94,931 MILES AND AM THE ORIGINAL DRIVER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 2-3 YEARS AGO AND I HAVE TAKEN TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT MECHANICS TO DIAGNOSE WITH NO SUCCESS. IN JUNE 2010 I TOOK INTO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP FOR 100K SERVICE AND WAS TOLD I HAD A CRACKED FUEL TANK FILLER NECK WHICH I HAD TO REPLACE AT A COST OF ~$1000. THIS FIXED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AS WELL. CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF THIS FUEL TANK ISSUE AND DENIES THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH ANY MODEL EXCEPT 2002-2003 TRAILBLAZER EXT'S AND GMC ENVOY XL MODELS UNDER TSB 05012. IN REVIEWING THE NHTSA WEBSITE IT IS APPARENT THE SCOPE OF THIS PROBLEM GOES BEYOND THESE MODELS. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP ADVISED THEY WERE AWARE THE TRAILBLAZER MODELS HAD ISSUES WITH THE FUEL TANK BUT REFERRED US TO GENERAL MOTORS AS THERE WAS NO TSB FROM GM FOR THIS MODEL. I SPOKE TO 3 SEPARATE PEOPLE AT GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE WHO ADVISED THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE AND CAME BACK WITHIN 3 BUSINESS DAYS AND DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY. I QUESTIONED GM ABOUT THE NUMEROUS OCCURRENCES OF CRACKED OR CORRODED FUEL TANK FILLER NECK ISSUES AND REFERENCED THE NHTSA WEBSITE. THEY ADVISED THE NHTSA WEBSITE, WHERE MANY OF THESE CASES ARE DOCUMENTED, IS NOT A GM RECOGNIZED WEBSITE FOR THIS TYPE OF ISSUE AND WAS ESSENTIALLY TOLD THEY (GM) IGNORED COMPLAINTS FROM THIS WEBSITE. I WAS ADVISED BY THE GM REP NOTHING ELSE WOULD BE CONSIDERED AND WHEN I ASKED FOR SOMEONE "HIGHER" AT GM TO SPEAK WITH WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T PROVIDE ANYMORE INFORMATION. WHEN ASKED FOR THE CORPORATE ADDRESS AND CEO INFO I WAS TOLD THEY WOULDN'T GIVE THAT INFORMATION OUT BUT I COULD LOOK IT UP ON THE INTERNET. BOTTOM LINE IS CHEVROLET DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR SAFETY CLAIMS OR VEHICLE ISSUES AND I FEEL COMPELLED TO HAVE THIS DOCUMENTED ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. *TR
PART # 19120564 RUBS ON TAILGATE WHEN OPENING . DOES SECURE PROPERLY. EVENTUALLY, FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING.

THE DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURES WERE INTERMITTENT AT FIRST AND RECENTLY STOPPED WORKING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000.

THE SPEEDOMETER DID NOT DISPLAY THE SPEED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING. THE FUEL GAUGE ALSO DID NOT DISPLAY THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT HAD TO PAY THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE TACH AND SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY ON MY 2004 TRAILBLAZER. THE SPEEDOMETER OCCASIONALLY WORKS BUT 99% OF THE TIME TELLS ME I'M GOING FASTER OR SLOWER THAN I AM. I AM CURRENTLY USING MY GPS, BUT AS WE ALL KNOW WITH GPS, IT'S NOT ALWAYS AVAILABLE ON MOUTAINS AND IT'S NOT ALWAYS 100% ACCURATE SO I BASICALLY GUESS HOW FAST I AM GOING WHEN TRAVELING THROUGH WV. I CONTACTED GM DEALER, NO RECALLS THAT I AM AWARE OF BUT THOUSANDS OF ONLINE POST OF THIS PROBLEM. *LN
ALL GAUGES ON CONTROL PANEL NOT WORKING, BUT ALL SERVICE LIGHTS COME ON CHECK ENGINE, ABS SEAT BELT, REDUCE POWER, BATTERY LIGHTS. NOW SUV NOT CRANKING, IT WILL SPIN BUT NOT TURNING OVER. WILL CRANK UP AFTER LETTING IT SIT FOR A WHILE. I RECEIVED A TICKET FOR SPEEDING, ALREADY. *TR
I OWN A 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER; THE TACHOMETER, SPEEDOMOTER AND OTHER GAUGES STARTED TO FLUCTUATE AND NOW THE SPEEDOMETER NEVER WORKS PROPERLY, THE TACHOMETER COMES AND GOES AND NOW THE OIL GAUGE IS NOT SHOWING THE PROPER READING (I HAD IT CHECKED OUT TO MAKE SURE I HAD OIL AND NO OTHER ISSUES). I AM TOLD A NEW CLUSTER BOARD IS NEEDED AT THE COST OF $600-$700. CHEVY IS MORE THAN AWARE OF THIS BEING A "TYPICAL/KNOWN" ISSUE AND I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS FORCING THEM TO REPLACE THESE CLUSTER BOARDS. I HAVE PURCHASED A GPS WHICH HAS THE SPEEDOMETER OPTION SO I KNOW AT WHAT SPEED I AM TRAVELING; BUT IF THE OIL AND GAS GAUGES GO; I HAVE NO CHOICE TO FORK OVER $6-700.00. WHY IS CHEVROLET NOT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR FAULTY EQUIPMENT THEY INSTALLED IN THEIR $37,000 VEHICLES? THE SPEEDOMETER IN MY 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER EXT COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING ABOUT 6 MONTHS ABOUT. WE HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE AND JUST PRAYING WE DO NOT GET A SPEEDING TICKET. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUES TO STAY ON EVEN WHEN RESET. I AM NOT BEING TOLD I NEED TO CHECK THE FUSE WHICH WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIRS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS HE EXPERIENCED A BLOW OUT AND CONTACTED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR HELP. WHEN ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ARRIVED, THEY WERE UNABLE TO REMOVE THE SPARE TIRE FROM THE VEHICLE FRAME DUE TO RUST AND CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO CUT THE TIRE AWAY FROM THE FRAME. THE OWNER PURCHASED A NEW TIRE TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE SPARE TIRE CABLE FROM THE FRAME. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 104,000. UPDATED 11/9/10 *CN UPDATED 11/16/10
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2004 TRAILBLAZER IS BROKEN, IT DOES NOT GO BELOW 90MPG, SO 90 IS MY NEW 0. THIS JUST HAPPENED AND FROM LOOKING INTO IT IS VERY COMMON. THIS IS VERY COSTLY TO FIX AND A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. GM HAD RECALLS ON IT'S OTHER SUV'S FOR THE SAME ISSUE. *TR

THE FUEL LEVEL AND BATTERY GAUGE WOULD FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER ADVISED THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE GROUND WIRE AND REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE MANUFACTURE SHOULD TAKE THE LIABILITY FOR THE FAILURE BECAUSE HE WAS ABLE TO LOCATE HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR HIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL PERTAINING TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 105,249.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND LOOKED AT MY SPEEDOMETER AND IT SAID I WAS GOING 80 MILES AN HOUR AND I NOTICED ALL THE OTHER CARS WERE PASSING ME! I THEN NOTICED MY SPEEDOMETER CONTINUING TO RISE UNTIL IT WENT TO 120 MPH! I KNEW I WASN'T GOING THAT FAST. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND WAS TOWED BY HER INSURANCE COMPANY TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE, IF NEEDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,700.

NEXT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGES STARTED JUMPING AROUND AND NOW THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. ESTIMATED COST TO ME $480.00, I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX IT.. THIRDLY THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS GO ON AND OFF WITHOUT WARNING. I WENT TO A DEALERSHIP AND A PRIVATE MECHANIC AND NEITHER COULD FIND THE WIPER PROBLEM. COST TO ME $68.00 FOR DIAGNOSTIC TIME AND LOTS OF DANGER AHEAD. SIMILAR GM VEHICLES/ SUV'S HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME REASONS, AND THESE VEHICLES ALL SHARE SIMILAR PARTS. MY DAUGHTERS ENVOY WAS RECALLED BECAUSE OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, REPLACED AT NO COST TO HER. SAME INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AS MY TRAILBLAZER. I CANDIDLY SPOKE WITH THE OWNER OF A CHEVY DEALER SHIP WHO SAID; "THESE PROBLEMS ARE COSTING THE OWNERS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED".WITH ALL THE RESEARCH I'VE DONE IT IS CLEAR THE TRAILBLAZER IS LOADED WITH RECALLABLE PROBLEMS. THERE ARE SEVERAL DEFECTS ON CHEVY TRAIL BLAZERS MINE IN PARTICULAR IS WITH THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL BECAUSE IT STOPPED RECORDING THE SPEED, AMOUNT OF GAS IN MY VEHICLE, ESSENTIAL TO DRIVING SAFETY, PROPER SPEED MAINTENANCE AND ENSURING IT WONT STALL OUT DUE TO LACK OF GAS IN THE VEHICLE WHILE ON THE FREEWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS. IN ADDITION THE NIGHT LIGHTS TURN OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THAT IS DANGEROUS TO ME AND MY CHILDREN WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT WHICH I DO OFTEN TO COMMUTE HOME FROM WORK. THERE ARE DIFFERENT DATES FOR THE DEFECTS THE CLUSTER PANEL GAGE WAS PROXIMATELY 6 OR 8 MONTHS OLD, THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED THEY STATED IT WAS NOT HAZARDOUS TO MY DRIVING AND THAT SINCE IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO BEING A 2004 THE BEST THEY COULD DO WAS 10% OFF, I FELT IT WAS A HAZARD AT THE TIME OF THE REPORT THEY FIXED AN ISSUE WITH THE TURN SIGNALS BUT NOW MY HEADLIGHTS ARE TURNING ON AND OFF RANDOMLY AT NIGHT AND IT IS SCARY TO BE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND YOUR LIGHTS GO OFF AND YOU CANT SEE A THING. THE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN MALFUNCTIONING FOR THE LAST 3 TO 4 MONTHS HAVE NOT REPORTED IT BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF RESPONSE BY THE MANUFACTURER WITH PRIOR ISSUE. *TR

SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I HAD SLOWED DOWN BECAUSE THE SPEED LIMIT SLOWED AND THE SPEEDOMETER JUST STAYED AT THE SAME SPEED. WE PULLED OVER AND STOPPED AND IT STAYED AT 60. WE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN STARTED IT AGAIN. THE SPEEDOMETER DID NOT MOVE. IT HAS NOW BEEN OVER A WEEK AND HAS STAYED AT 80 AND DOES NOT GO BACK TO ZERO. *TR

THE GAUGES OFTEN CORRECT THEMSELVES OUT OF THE BLUE AND THEN THEY START MESSING UP AGAIN WITH NO WARNING. TODAY, MY SPEEDOMETER READ 0 WHILE I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH. IT STAYED AT 0 UNTIL I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. WHEN I TOOK OFF, IT WENT UP TO ABOUT 45 WHEN I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 25-30. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST I AM REALLY GOING, WHICH IS SCARY AND DANGEROUS. I AM ALSO VERY FRAZZLED BY ALL THE GAUGES READING DIFFERENT EVERY DAY WHEN I AM DRIVING 40 MILES BACK AND FORTH TO WORK WONDERING IF AND WHEN MY CAR IS GOING TO BREAK DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE LIGHTS GOING OUT WHILE DRIVING. I USUALLY HAVE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT SET FOR AWHILE. ONCE I RESTART IT WORKS. UPON ARRIVING AT HIS DESTINATION, THE DOORS AND WINDOWS WOULD NOT OPEN, DESPITE PRESSING THE UNLOCK BUTTON. THE CONSUMER AND HIS OCCUPANTS WERE TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, AND EVERYTHING WORKED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE INCIDENT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES FOR SEVERAL DAYS. ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE, THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE IN THE LIFTGATE MODULE WHICH CAUSED THE DOOR LOCKS TO MALFUNCTION. THE DASH LIGHTS ILLUMINATING WAS THE RESULT OF AN INTERNAL FAILURE IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. *JB
