GAS GAUGE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IT NEVER READS RIGHT ANYTIME. AFTER FUELING UP IT COULD READ ANYWHERE FROM FULL TO COMPLETELY EMPTY. WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IT COULD SHOW HALF A TANK ON THE GAUGE THEN SUDDENLY DROP TO EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON AND SHOWS EMPTY. CONCERNED THAT IT MIGHT FAIL ALL TOGETHER AND LEAVE ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. HAVE NOT HAD IT FIXED DUE TO THE HIGH COST OF THE REPAIR. *TR
MY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR WENT OUT. IT HAD BEEN GOING UP AND DOWN FOR DAYS AND THEN I WAS DRIVING AND THE SENSOR COMPLETELY DIED ALONG WITH MY INSTRUMENT PANEL. IT COST ME 638.85. I CALLED GM TO SEE IF THEY WOULD HELP ME OUT BECAUSE ONCE I STARTED RESEARCHING THE TRAILBLAZERS...THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE AND THEY ACTUALLY HAD A RECALL ON PRIOR YEARS AND THE YEAR AFTER WHICH WAS THE 2006, BUT FOR SOME REASON THE 2005 DIDN'T HAVE A RECALL. THEY WOULD NOT HELP. VERY DISAPPOINTED! *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE OF OUR 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER, FLUCTUATES AND SELDOM GIVES AN ACCURATE READING. ON ONE PARTICULAR DAY WHILE MY WIFE WAS ON HER WAY TO WORK, THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF FUEL WHILE READING A QUARTER OF A TANK. SHE WAS ON A 2 LANE ROAD THAT IS POSTED AT 55 MPH AND WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM WITH MANY GM VEHICLES. IT IS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THIS PROBLEM RESULTS IN A FATALITY WHETHER DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY. *TR
I OWN A 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. ON HIGHWAY 61 NEAR TROY, MO, THERE IS A SPEED RADAR SET ALONG THE ROAD TO DISPLAY VEHICLE SPEED TO DRIVERS. ON 2 OCCASIONS, MY SPEEDOMETER SHOWED SPEEDS OF 60 MPH WHEN THE RADAR DISPLAY SHOWED 40 TO 45 MPH AND ON 3 OCCASIONS, MY SPEEDOMETER INDICATED SPEEDS OF 60 (THE SPEED LIMIT), WHILE THE RADAR DISPLAYED SPEEDS ANYWHERE FROM 75 TO 85 MPH. I WAS GOING 15 TO 25 MPH FASTER THAN THE SPEED LIMIT, BUT DID NOT KNOW IT ACCORDING TO MY SPEEDOMETER. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 6 OR 7 TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. I HAVE FOUND THAT WHEN I STOP THE TRAILBLAZER, WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER IS REGISTERING LOW, THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE WILL ACTUALLY MOVE BELOW THE 0 MPH. ON THOSE OCCASIONS WHEN MY SPEEDOMETER WAS REGISTERING HIGH, WHEN I HAVE STOPPED THE VEHICLE, THE NEEDLE WILL STILL BE SHOWING 25 TO 40 MPH! MY FEAR IS THAT ON ONE OF THOSE OCCASIONS THAT MY SPEED IS ACTUALLY FASTER THAN INDICATED, MY SPEED MY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE FOUND THAT AFTER STOPPING THE CAR AND TURNING IT OFF, IF I JUST TURN THE IGNITION KEY TO RUN WITHOUT STARTING IT SEVERAL TIMES, THE NEEDLE WILL GRADUALLY RESET ITSELF BACK TO 0 AND I WON'T HAVE ANY MORE PROBLEMS FOR A WHILE. I HAVE HAD AN ESTIMATE TO REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR $500 TO $600, BUT I FEEL THIS IS A RECALL PROBLEM THAT CHEVROLET NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS WHAT MOVED ME TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT. *TR
I JUST PURCHASED A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LAST NIGHT 1/25/10,TODAY THE SPEEDOMETER AND THE GAS GAUGE DO NOT FUNCTION. THE SPEEDOMETER ROTATES WHEN IT WANT ALL THE WAY AROUND THE DIAL. THE DEALER STATES IT IS AN AS IS CAR AND THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. I RESEARCHED TODAY AND FOUND WAY TOO MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE ON THIS MODEL. WHY ISN'T GM ADDING THIS TO THEIR RECALLS ON OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME ISSUE? *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER EXT. AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK THIS MORNING I NOTICED THAT MY SPEEDOMETER KEPT INCREASING SPEED 80+ THEN FINALLY WENT TO 120 THEN DROPPED TO THE BOTTOM. IT STAYS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE METER SO IT DOESN'T READ ANYTHING. AS I'M GOOGLE THIS PROBLEM IT APPEARS THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON HAPPENING. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY ARE LIKE THAT HAPPENS TO THOSE CARS ALL THE TIME BUT NO RECALL. THIS IS TERRIBLE WE (AMERICAN PEOPLE) JUST BAILED GM OUT AND NOW THEY HAVE THESE ISSUES WITH THEIR VEHICLES AND DON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THEM. THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY. TRAILBLAZER,ON 1/25/10 AT 9:00 AM DRIVING SOUTH ON I95 IN MD. THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED COMPLETELY FROM THE CAR,NO OBJECTS CAME INTO CONTACT WITH THE WINDOW,WAS IN A NONE PUBLIC AREA AND NO OVERPASSES.IT WAS A REAL SHOCK COULD OF CAUSED A WRECK JUST FROM THE LOUD SOUND. I CALLED CHEVY. FACT.COMPLAINT NO.1-800-222-1020 AND TALKED TO JENNY AT EXT 23002, SHE SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND TO TAKE IT TO MY DEALER AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS,THEY WANTED $1600.00 FOR A NEW REAR WINDOW,I BOUGHT ONE AT A SALVAGE YARD FOR $300.00 AND HAD IT REPLACED. I GOOGLED THIS BY PUTTING IN "TRAILBLAZER REAR WINDOW" AND SEEN I AM NOT ALONE AND CHEVY. WILL NOT HELP PEOPLE OR ADMIT OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LS (NA). THE CONTACT STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL AS WELL AS THE FUEL GAUGE NO LONGER FUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO REMEDY THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.

FAN MOTOR ONLY WORKS ON 1-4 SETTINGS, AFTER A FEW WEEKS NO SETTING WORKS. INSPECTING FAN BLOWER FOUND BURNT WIRES LEADING TO THE RESISTOR, EXTERNAL BEFORE HARNESS. NEW RESISTOR AND HARNESS ARE NEEDED TO REMEDY. *TR

MY 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EXT LTS TAILGATE GLASS DOOR HINGE CAP POPPED OFF AND HAD TO BE REPAIRED/REPLACED (HINGES, FIBERGLASS CAP, GLASS, ETC). I WAS INFORMED BY MR. KENNETH LAMOTT OF THE 1ST AVENUE BODY SHOP, INC. IN GREAT FALLS MT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND APPARENT DESIGN DEFECT THAT CHEVROLET KNOWS ABOUT. HOWEVER THEY WILL NOT RECOGNIZE IT AS A RECALL ITEM. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING FROM MR. LAMOTT WAS TO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON HIGHWAYS SHOULD IT COME LOOSE AGAIN AS IT WILL DISLODGE AND PRESENT ONCOMING TRAFFIC WITH A HAZARD THAT COULD CAUSE DAMAGES, INJURY AND POSSIBLY DEATH IF IT IMPACTED AND PASSED THRU A WINDSHIELD HITTING THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER. *TR

FUEL GAUGE STARTED FUNCTIONING ERRATICALLY - WOULD GO FROM EMPTY TO FULL OR JUST START GOING BETWEEN FULL AND EMPTY FLOATING AROUND. EVENTUALLY IT JUST STAYED ON EMPTY EVEN WHEN I HAD JUST FILLED UP. FROM THE TIME THE PROBLEM STARTED TILL IT STOPPED WORKING WAS ONLY A MATTER OF WEEKS. NOW MY OIL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING ALSO. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER AND IT HAS MANY PROBLEMS. BUT THE MOST DANGEROUS, AT THIS POINT, IS THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING. SOMETIMES, IT WON'T GET OFF OF ZERO. OTHER TIMES, IT SHOWS THAT I AM GOING OVER 120 MPH, WHEN IN FACT, I AM GOING WITH FLOW OF TRAFFIC. AT OTHER TIMES, IT SHOWS EITHER 15 TO 20 MILES ABOVE OR BELOW THE SPEED I AM ACTUALLY DRIVING. THERE IS NO COMMON DENOMINATOR AS TO WHEN OR IF THE PROBLEM STARTS OR STOPS. IT IS VERY, VERY RANDOM. THE COST TO FIX WILL BE OVER $450.00. THERE ARE MANY OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS THAT ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. THE SPEEDOMETER PROBLEM COULD BE VERY, VERY DANGEROUS AS THE DRIVER DOES NOT KNOW HOW FAST, OR SLOW, THEY ARE ACTUALLY DRIVING. *TR
2005 TRAILER BLAZER FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CAUSING ERRATIC FUEL GAUGE OPERATION
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR INSTALLED ON MODEL 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER VEHICLES IS DEFECTIVE AND COULD RESULT IN VEHICLE RUNNING OUT OF GAS. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER BEGINS TO TICK AS I PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL AND JUMPS ANYWHERE TO 80-100MPH AND I MAY BE ONLY GOING 30. IT STALLS AND THEN CONTINUES TO JUMP UNTIL IT IS READING OFF THE SCALE. IT NOW RESIDES OFF THE SCALE AND I HAVE NO WAY OF TELLING WHAT SPEED I AM TRAVELING AT OTHER THAN USING MY GPS. THE SAFETY CONCERNS OF NOT KNOWING THE SPEED AT WHICH I AM TRAVELING ALONG WITH THE LEGAL ISSUES I MAY FACE IS WHY I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT. *TR

THEN, DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY ABOUT 65 MILES PER HOUR, CAR SUDDENLY SHUTS DOWN, NO POWER, BARELY GOT OFF ROAD WITHOUT BEING REAR ENDED. SAT WITH NO HEAT IN FREEZING WEATHER WAITING FOR HELP, BARELY OFF THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY. *TR
MY 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER GAS GAUGE IS SHOWING INCORRECT READINGS. WHEN THE TANK IS FILLED WITH FUEL THE GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY AND THE WARNING SIGNAL CONTINUALLY GOES OFF. WITH FUEL IN THE TANK THE GAUGE GOES UP AND DOWN CONSTANTLY DISPLAYING INCORRECT READINGS. THIS CAN RESULT IN A SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENT AS THE DRIVER DOES NOT ACTUALLY KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE TANK. 1. WHILE DRIVING THE SPEEDOMETER STUCK AT 65 MPH 2. THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWS 65 MPH WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED AND WHEN DRIVEN, IT GOES TO A HIGHER MPH AS I DRIVE. 3. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE YET AS I AM WAITING FOR A REPAIR ESTIMATE. *TR
WHEN WE BOUGHT OUR 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WE HAD TO TURN IT AROUND AND TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ALL THEY DID WAS RESET IT. IT CAME BACK ON SOME TIME LATER, WE TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP THEY GOT IT WORKED IN AT THE NEAREST CHEVY SHOP, THEY RESET THE LIGHT AND WE WERE TOLD TO BUY A GASCAP FOR IT. WE BOUGHT THE GAS CAP, LIGHT STAYED OFF UNTIL NOW. WE HAVE TAKEN OUR 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER TO THE LOCAL SHOP THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. SO FAR NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE, BUT SINCE THE LIGHT IS ON IT IS A GAS GUZZLER WITH LIGHT ON GETTING 6 MILES TO THE GALLON. WITH GAS AT 2.59 A GALLON THAT'S NOT CHEAP. CHEVROLET DEALER IN TOWN SAYS ITS PROBABLY THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS CLEANING, AND IT NEEDS A NEW BATTERY. THEY SAY THE THROTTLE BODY IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE NEW MODELS, BECAUSE THE GAS IS NOT FIT FOR THE NEWER MODEL VEHICLES. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTION BEGAN ON JANUARY 11, 2010. FIRST THE SPEEDOMETER APPEARED TO BE STUCK AT ZERO. NOW IT HAS GONE UP AND PAST THE HIGHEST MPH READING ON THE 2005 TRAILBLAZER. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE OTHER CHEVY TRUCKS WITH THE SAME SPEEDOMETER BUT HAS NOT INCLUDED THE TRAILBLAZER. HOW CAN ONE SAFELY DRIVE WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE AN ACCURATE READING ON HOW FAST THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING? *TR
SPEEDOMETER ON 2005 CHEVY TRAIL BLAZER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. SAYS IM DOING 20 MPH WHEN IM STOPPED AND SAYS 120 WHEN GOING 50. *TR
2005 GM TRAILBLAZER SPEEDOMETER WITH 58300 MILES IS TOTALLY INOPERATIVE DUE TO A FAULTY STEPPER MOTOR WITHIN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL. OTHER GAUGES IN THIS CLUSTER ARE ALSO POTENTIALLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO PREMATURE FAILURE BECAUSE THEY USE THE SAME DEFECTIVE MODEL STEPPER MOTOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY DURING RAINY OR ICY MONTHS WHERE UNKNOWN EXCESSIVE SPEED COULD CAUSE A FATALITY. THE SPEEDOMETER, AS WELL AS THE ODOMETER, SHOULD BE SERVICEABLE FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE AND IS NOT DEEMED PERISHABLE. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE USES A PREDEFINED 'DENIAL OF SERVICE' CAMPAIGN BY WHICH THEY GATHER INFORMATION AND REQUIRE DEALERSHIP TESTING , THE COST OF AT LEAST $88 TO BE PAID BY THE OWNER, THEN DENIES ALL REMEDIAL ACTION BY USING THE VIN NUMBER AND MILEAGE AS A REASON TO NOT REPLACE THE KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART. THIS IS THOUGHT TO BE INTEGRAL TO THE DELPHI GM PARTS SUIT $100 MILLION SETTLEMENT OF SEPTEMBER 10, 2007 WHERE THE DEFECTIVE STEPPER MOTOR PART WAS PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGED AND GM IS SUPPOSE TO REPLACE THEM WITHOUT COST TO THE CONSUMER. FURTHER EVIDENCE OF GM USING A KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART IN THEIR SPEEDOMETER IS A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT FILED AND WON BY TOUSLEY BRAIN STEPHENS, LLC ON NOVEMBER 7, 2008. *TR
DRIVING DOWN BUSY ROADWAY, FUEL GAUGE HAS NOT WORKED IN ABOUT 7 MONTHS BEEN USING ODOMETER TO ESTIMATE GAS USAGE. MY 2005 TRAILBLAZER RAN OUT OF GAS, ALMOST REARENDED. THERE WAS NO SHOULDER TO PULL OFF ROADWAY IN A DANGEROUS CURVE. NEARLY RUN OVER BY PASSING VEHICLE IN AN ATTEMPT TO SLOW TRAFFIC DOWN SO MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT CAUSE ACCIDENT. CLOSE CALL. IMAGINE A WOMAN WITH KIDS IN THIS SITUATION. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THIS FUEL SENSOR PROBLEM ON THE TOPIX FORUMS WEBSITE. PLEASE HELP BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR

I OWN A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER, HAVE OWN IT SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN 2005 AND HAVE NO PROBLEMS UP UNTIL RECENTLY. TODAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING. I WOULD NOT SHOW THE CORRECT SPEED IN WHICH I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT, REALIZING THAT EVERYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD SEEM LIKE THEY WERE PARKED ON THE HIGHWAY, AS I AM FLYING BY THEM IS WHEN I REALIZED THAT MY SPEEDOMETER/INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED ON MY TRAVEL TO A LOCATION AND BACK ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS. I MANAGED TO FIGURE OUT THAT THE LONGER I HAD THE VEHICLE RUNNING THE PROBLEM WOULD OCCUR. IF I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT COOL DOWN IT WOULD BE FINE FOR ABOUT 15-20 MINS THAN ACT UP AGAIN. WE BOUGHT A 2005 TRAILBLAZER ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. OUT OF THE BLUE ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO, THE SPEEDOMETER GOES HAYWIRE. IT SAYS THAT I AM GOING 60 MPH. WHEN I WAS ACTUALLY GOING ABOUT 15 BECAUSE I WAS IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND IT WAS SNOWING. A FEW DAYS LATER IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN, AND THEN TODAY IT JUST COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. LIKE MANY PEOPLE MY 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER HAS SEVERAL ISSUES REGARDING THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL. THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS DURING A COLD SNAP AND ALL OF THE GAUGES GOT STUCK ON THE DOWN OR OFF POSITION. AFTER SOME TIME SOME OF THE GAUGES (IE. SPEEDOMETER ,TACHOMETER, AND OIL PRESSURE ) STARTING WORKING AGAIN HOWEVER, THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME THE READINGS WERE INACCURATE. AFTER SOME TIME ELAPSED (THIS YEAR - 2012) THE TACHOMETER AND OIL PRESSURE GAUGE STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY. THIS HAS BECOME AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS SITUATION BECAUSE NO VITAL INFORMATION IS BEING PROVIDE TO THE DRIVER AND THE MANUFACTURE WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE. *TR

SPEEDOMETER NO LONGER WORKING PROPERLY. IT VARIES FROM DAY TO DAY AS TO WHAT SPEED IT SHOWS THAT THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A DANGER IN THE FACT THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW FAST YOU ARE ACTUALLY TRAVELING. TO GET TECHNICAL THE DMV SAYS THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE ATLEAST 1 CAR LENGTH FOR EVERY 10 MPH YOU ARE TRAVELING BETWEEN YOU AND THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF YOU IN ORDER TO STOP YOUR VEHICLE IN TIME. HOW CAN YOU DO THAT IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING. WAS QUOTED $500 COST TO REPAIR. *TR
SPEEDOMETER GAUGE IS MALFUNCTIONING. WHEN TRAVELING 65 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER READS THAT I AM GOING FASTER THAN 120 MPH. WHEN I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF THE NEEDLE FALLS TO ABOUT 70 MPH. IN TOWN, THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWS AROUND 90 MPH. THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL HOW FAST I AM GOING. *TW

DRIVING A LARGE VEHICLE AND NOT BEING ABLE TO TELL WHAT SPEED YOU ARE TRAVELING AT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS REGARDLESS OF THE INCREASED POTENTIAL FOR TRAFFIC CITATIONS. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON HIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE AND THAT THE PANEL COULD POSSIBLY FAIL AGAIN. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO DATE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 57,413.
